Left Coast, a disabled veteran women-owned company from California, now in New York since 2024. The owners are from New York, supposedly. They do not white label their products, which means to outsource them. They handle their own cultivation, extraction, manufacturing, and distribution. However, their bottle states acid packaging in Saratoga Springs.

I'm hoping that's their subsidiary in New York. Definitely. Sour Diesel 9010, sativa dominant varietal cross between chem dog and super skunk, depending on their source that you're checking on. Top turps are Mersine, Cariophaline, and Pinene. Top effects are energetic, talkative, and uplifted. Top flavors are diesel, chem, and skunk. THC values are as follows: 19% according to Leafly, 26% according to All Bud, and Left Coast claims on the same 26%. Oh, they're in agreement with All Bud.

As far as this particular strain, it came in a 3.5 ounce glass jar, which retails anywhere between 40 and $55. And this particular jar came to us today from Purple Buds in Jackson Heights, Queens, which is right on 76th Street, right off Roosevelt Avenue. Make sure to pay them a visit, y'all. Definitely. As far as look, dark greens, light greens, brown hairs. It was yellow inside, which looked cool. The turfs are there. It was diesel and chem mostly. The tricones are sprinkled throughout. They were medium, super brand new, supple sized buds, and they were packaged three months ago. Very fresh. Let's find out how fresh. Ready to smoke? We're ready. Let's do it. Let's do it.

First impressions. The diesel and chem is popping right out. Yeah. As far as flavors, wow, the chem is like kind of more powerful as a flavor. Are you are you getting that too? I just got it. Wow, the chem is really strong flavor-wise. I gotta say, a lot of the notes of uh classic sour diesel. Yeah. Okay. Well, let's see how it smokes. Trying hard not to cough. Right, me too. I didn't make it. I was really trying not to cough there. The chem is very powerful. Yeah, it is. It is like the first thing that jumps out at you. The diesel is there too. Yeah. Are you getting any of the skunk that they said?

You know, I'm getting a third flavor, I was about to say, and it is a bit danky, but it's like in the bottom. It's not loud, but it it's that like the strong aftertaste of like a dark skunkiness, something there. Ooh, I'm not getting that. But it's definitely not on top. It's like it's an aftertaste. For me, it's the chem that's like overpowering everything. Yeah, that I get on the inhale, definitely.

Just tons of chem. So uh sour diesel as a strain, uh, very popular stream in the early 2000s, late 90s in New York. It pretty much took over New York. Uh, everybody was trying to sell sour diesel.

And uh, you know, now it's fallen into like the the regulars, the groups that you find everywhere. But for a minute, it ruled New York Sour Diesel. Uh, and it replaced haze as the dominant strain that a lot of people were looking for, a type of haze. Yeah. Uh now with the dispensary market, there's no real dominant strain in New York. Right. Even though last year uh I was reading the other day that uh the strain that was bought the most was Blue Dream. Oh, look how ironic. And so, yeah, that was that is kind of ironic, right? Yeah. But Sour Diesel had his day in New York, and you know, now we know Sour Diesel. Uh, as far as Left Coast, uh, yeah, they're a MSO, but uh which is a multi-state organization, but they're a mini MSO from what we're reading, uh, because they only have uh operations in California where they started, and here in New York. They don't have any other operations anywhere. And uh the fact that the owners are from New York might have something to do with that.

Maybe they wanted to have like a home base, right?

Those are two, I guess two of the biggest markets there, you know. If not the two biggest, right? Yeah.

Even though I'm sure Colorado is in there somewhere.

True, yeah. I would be remiss if let's say you had a company in Colorado is not on your distribution list. That's that's the surprising one, right?

You would think they would have gone to Colorado before New York. Yeah, but I'm thinking it's probably like a familial connection or a nostalgic connection. They wanted to come home. And so they said, well, let's expand our operations. That's the only thing I can think of.

Well, maybe they felt Colorado was too saturated. I don't know. Oh, so this is a premier market. So even to break into this market, uh, I know that they incur incurred a lot of uh ad costs, a lot of costs just to be up front. Because you go to the dispensaries here in New York City and it's uh you see all kinds of all-wares, and not all of them are right in front of you all the time. You know, a few of them are left coast. Now I see it most prominently placed in the front. But it also uh it commands a pretty premium price as well.

Yes, it's from $40 to $55. I've actually seen it higher than $55, which do not touch this for more than $55. I actually would suggest don't touch it for more than $45.

I mean, and not because of the brand or the strain itself, it's just the idea of uh paying over a certain amount of money for an eighth of weed. Skip and I personally believe that it should be no more than $45 for an eighth. And then that is not condemning Left Coast whatsoever. We've been reviewing Left Coast all week, and as expected, their quality is up there. It's as expected. Is the quality is as nice as the presentation. Yeah, supple buds, nice presentation.

Um, it's just about you know how high is your uh resistance to the THC.

And how high is the resistance factor of your wallet?

Uh yes, that's another factor. So back to the strain itself. Um, it's a harsh smoke. It's it's not a it's not a smooth smoke, so it's probably not for freshmen, right? Probably not for beginners. Uh the the chem is there, the diesel's there.

I'm I kind of have an idea of what Skip is saying, that in the end it gets a little danky. Yeah. The end of the aftertaste. There's a little dankiness, but it's really small for it to be uh, you know, considered a full skunk, in my opinion.

Yeah, this is not offensive at all. And what I mean offensive, you know, those loud weeds that I mean I love loud weed, but a lot of people they find it very, very offensive. And this has none of those attributes. It's diesel, but not to that power yet. Even in the smell, you know, like nice and it's like a cleaner diesel thing. Yeah, yeah, definitely.

Well, I guess they tried to clean it up a little bit.

Professional diesel they tried to ethanol the diesel. They did a pretty good job though, because the taste is still there, it's still, you know, it's just not very loud.

It's terps were mercine, caryophylline, and pinine. Am I right? Yeah, so does that jibe with what the original, you know? Let's see. Or is this just Left Coast's version? Right, that's what I'm looking at. Well, Leithly says it should be caryophylline, mercine lemonine. Okay, and what they're saying is it's mercine, caryophylline pine. Right. So there is a slight difference, but as we've said many times, what is in a name? Because people can name these things whatever they want. I could take something that's completely unrelated to either one of these buds and still call it sour diesel. That's true, unfortunately, in the New York market. You know, what is the ethics of that, right? Like company to company, like who polices that? It's unbelievable.

Oh, I mean, the fact that they left that untouched as far as uh codes or laws leaves it open to uh free market interpretation, right? Unfortunately.

So that sourd diesel you're smoking today might not be the same sourdiza that you smoked that one time that you liked a lot. Right. And that's the reason why we fuss about it. So down to my first third, and so that means it's time to look at the effects. Do we feel energetic, Skip? No, not yet. No. Do we feel talkative? A little bit more than usual. It's hard for me to say that when I always feel talkative. Do we feel uplifted? No, not yet. Okay, so none of that's happening yet. I always feel talkative. Skip says he's getting he feels that a little bit. I always feel that, so I don't know if I can if that's an effect that would actually work on me or not. Right. So how's that high?

Uh yeah, I'm feeling something. I'm feeling like an expansion in in the frontal lobe area. It's indeterminate right now. I don't know where it's going yet. But it's past the spider sense phase that I can definitely feel. Uh past the tingly phase and going right into the high phase. So there is a high. It's happening, folks. It's happening. Now the question is, where is it? Where is it going, right? How about you, Skip?

Yeah, I feel the same way. It's a high there, but it feels like a general high. And uh, it's in the beginning, so you know, I'm I wouldn't fret too much. But yeah, I can tell that it's an undeterminate, maybe even a bubble-headed type of high. It might go there. Not strong, but when you hear sour diesel, you know, you expect Thor's hammer over the head.

And I gotta say though, I am encouraged by the fact that I'm not even halfway in yet and I feel a high. Okay. Like the only problem I'm having with the high right now is that it feels like the high doesn't know where to go yet. Okay, that's fair. Like it's there, it's gathering, it's gathering, it's gathering, but now it has to go in a direction. And that's the part I'm waiting for. Am I high? Yes, it's there already, which is I like that. Now, you know, pick a pick a direction, pick a pony. That's what this is what I need the high to do right now. Smoke is pretty thick, dense. Yeah, very nice making smoke rings. So, yeah, women veteran, disabled veterans made this company. And uh, hey, you know what? I salute you.

And they know a little something about weed. And they yeah, they they know something about weed. Yeah, because man. Across the board, yeah, their products are are nice, similar, and nice. And what I mean by similar, you know, they all have their distinctive flavors and taste and strains, but the tuned portion of it, you know, the easy smoke, the the high is not very, you know, it's not out of hand. Freshness, yeah, very fresh, very soft.

So, yeah, we also like the packaging, it has like some weed buds embossed into the label, which is kind of cool. We like that. So, so far we are kind of impressed. Yeah, uh, they you know, they say that uh Sour Diesel is a sativa hybrid of chemdog and super skunk, but then I I had another alternate uh source source that said it's chemdog and another Mexican sativa, okay, and that that can also make sour diesel.

So chem dog is definitely the lead parent in this. Yeah, chem dog has to be part of it. Yeah, and that makes sense. Chemdog is for those that have had it, it's very strong and very direct, very loud. Coughing. And it's sharp. Not the not the roughest uh sour D at all. This one is actually pretty mild um overall, but comparing to uh when we're talking about how rough it is, it's in comparison to other uh left coast. You know, most left coasts, they're all very smooth, very tuned, and balanced. This one also is just that it's in the diesel range. Yeah, diesel in chem is it's never gonna be pretty.

Yeah, that is true. It's not gonna be like, wow, that's tasty. Diesel in cam. Never, that's never gonna happen. So yeah, that's a good point. You know, hoping to figure that out. Yeah, but so far as a good smoke, it's a slow smoker, yeah. That it is like I'm not even halfway, yeah. This burns real slow, it's a slow burner, yeah. These are those types of strains that when you're pressed for time, you're like, come on, and you're like smoking as much as you can. Luckily for us, we're not pressed for time, right? That's happened to me before, though.

You know, you want to get one in before you get it in, and it's like, damn, this thing is not dying. And you know, you can't like clip it or put it aside, like for some reason you gotta finish it right there. Yeah, you know, so then it's like you know, you don't want to throw away some some marijuana if you still have some left. So and you're just like hurry up, yeah. You felt like you just lighted two minutes ago, yeah. And it's like, what happened? Wow, so a lengthy phone conversation allowed me to actually smoke this down a little bit because man, this was good, this is a slow burner. Yeah, listen, I'm not complaining, don't get me wrong. Left Coast, I am not complaining because it was very nice to do the task I was doing while smoking this. It actually got me through it. So thank you there, Left Coast. But it looks like I'm down to my last third. I'm gonna say that generously because this is a big last third. It's like the turkey leg against the chicken leg. Yeah, and uh yeah, let's look at the effects, Skip. So uh feeling energetic?

No, mm-mm. A little more relaxed, if anything, a little bit relaxed, yeah. Okay, okay.

He said more relaxed. I yeah, I wouldn't say I feel particularly more energetic. Talkative. Do you feel more talkative?

I could get pulled into a conversation, sure.

Yeah, I could see that too. But like I said, I'm not a good qualify qualifier for that because I always like to talk and uplifted.

No, that's a tough one because I'm well, I have a pretty positive disposition.

Positive mean. So what are you feeling aside from you know the effects? Because the effects are not accurate, apparently.

Yeah, I mean, yeah, and that also I was trying anticipating. You know, usually sour D also it has uh it's uh uh how do I say individual characteristics, everyone feels it differently, and usually uh a good, very strong sour deed might knock you over. Here, I don't feel that, you know. I feel like a I don't want to say uplift, but like a positive uh vibe, yeah. Yeah, okay.

I I feel high, but I gotta say, uh, although it's kind of moving in a certain direction here and there, it hasn't really uh got higher than it was in the beginning. Like it kind of got to that spot and it kind of held steady there. Not saying it's a bad spot, and I still have this turkey leg of a third left, so you know, there's still some time, right? But I'm not I'm not feeling like smacked exactly. Yeah, I'm high. Uh how does the high feel? Uh it's hard to describe, it's like indeterminate. I mean, okay, let's try to break it down by what we can use it for.

Okay, well, it's functional, so I don't see it getting in the way as much of doing anything, basically, you know, that you could or should be doing under the influence. But yeah, it wouldn't get in the way. A lot of sourdough. Some of them are that strong. Here is not strong, but the high is there. It's like um I guess because it has yeah, it has no direction, it it like it just stays there, which is not bad, it's good. A lot of inadverted smoke wing rings are coming out of it.

You seeing it? Yeah, interesting. I I kind of see what Skip is saying, and as far as physicality, I feel it on my forehead. Uh I don't see it in your eyes, Skip. No, you see it in mine?

So that's not happening. But uh it's just kind of there. Just kind of there. Yeah. But I mean, so uh uh another question, uh social. You think you can go out with this, hang out with this, do stuff with this?

Yeah, I think so. And you know, I'm I am a general, you know, I'm not a talker, uh, but this could definitely uh pull you into a conversation. It has like a positive a little openness, a little magnetism, yeah.

No dancing. We gotta admit no dancing. Yeah, I mean for a sativa dominant, also. That's why I keep looking over at my notes because it feels a little indica-ish, you know, the relax factor. Yeah, it feels a little bit like an indica there, even you know.

Oh wow, yeah, those pulls are off. Spike did you ever get the skunk, right? Because we we honestly said, you know, like we found the diesel, we found the chemical through and through. There was that little tang in the end.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Could that be the skunk? I mean, that was uh that didn't go away that aftertaste. That it was uh a little dark. Uh it didn't bother because it wasn't up front, you know, it's like uh not to mention before it is diesel and chem, so yeah, so you gotta expect like really worse, you know, like some quote unquote offensiveness, right?

Mercine is the lead, which you know that's that used to be the lead for a lot of the old school strains, yeah.

Especially sativa dominant, you know. They all have that smooth uh entering.

Wow, this is a 9010 sativa, yeah. Man, that's it doesn't feel like a sativa.

No, it doesn't. That's what I'm saying. I mean, it doesn't, but it's good, though. It's nice. Mellow and uh just there.

Oddly getting pleasant in the end, the smoke. And I'm finally reaching the end. You gotta see this cherry. It's huge, it's fighting hard. It is not dying. It's like I'm really gonna have to do like a concentrate, Daniel Son, on this little nub of a cherry here, because it's really just being defiant.

You know, I was thinking to myself that it's tough to say I, you know, put sour D, all these uh big strains, and uh to um compile them down to like what is the best or has the best attributes and that goes across the board. Now, you know, Blue Dream, all the other strains, and sour is a big one, you know, to to consider if if it's a favorite or is it worth as a strain to chase, because uh lately it's been getting expensive, you know. There's not many uh sour diesel availability in the uh thirty twenty to thirty dollar range. So if you're looking for sour D is like upwards of fifty to sixty dollars and it's like uh Wow, I think you're right, Skip. Come to think of it. Yeah, and that's That is my point. That uh sometimes some of these you'll find them in the sub-price range. This one here, yeah. If you just to go old school, you know, in the dispensary world, it's gonna cost you a bit. But this one here is okay. This left coast is nice. If you want to get down on some old school sourdough, definitely cop yourself some. It's uh it's a nice ride.

And yeah, I'm trying not to cough. Just like I started this thing, trying not to cough. But here I am, and uh yeah, it was uh rough from the beginning, rough to the end, but still good smoke. I'm high. It's a frontal lobe thing. Now I feel it stronger because uh it's you know, I I smoked more, so that goes to show. And yeah, I just want to see where this goes. I'm a little like uh okay, where you're going. But yeah, I'm high. How about you, Skeptical?

Yeah, I feel it definitely. It was a sour diesel light with like a side of pepper. That is an apt description. Yeah, that is a great description. Yeah, that's what it was like in everything the taste, the smoke, very tuned, very balanced, and even the high right after finishing, which usually is almost at its peak high, you can say generally, and it's smooth.

All right, well, I guess uh all that's left is to find out how we feel in an hour. That's the ticket. I am slurring a little bit, so I am feeling something. Hopefully, I'm slurring when you see hear me in an hour from now, too.

And we're back one hour later. How'd it go, Skip? Well, one hour later, I still have the same high that I uh as when I ended the uh the blunt. So it's one hour later, the same exact high, actually. Uh actually didn't even dissipate or even taper. I have to agree, man.

This is actually kind of cool. Like, I mean, I'm not smacked or anything, right? But it lasted the full allotted time. Yeah, definitely.

And it wasn't uh a big high to begin with, but it stayed the same way one hour later. That's pretty impressive.

All right. Well, uh, let's do the final rundown. So, you know, just like we said when we opened it, it was very nice looking. Uh, you know, the smelled like diesel and cam, and you know, it was pretty. Uh light greens and dark greens and yellows and browns and tricones, and you know, very supple and very nice. And, you know, when we smoked it, it was a rough smoke. Keeping it real. Yeah, not for the freshmen. They're not gonna dig it. That's probably the drawback for one of the drawbacks, you know. If you're if you're looking for something for a casual smoker, this is not really it. Uh, but other than that, you know, very nice high. Uh, did I get smacked? No, there was no smackness in here, but there was a nice high, and the word for this one is consistency. Wow, man. This one, I feel the same way that I did when I told you guys, see you later one hour later. I even have a slight you know slur in my speech still. That is impressive. I will give it that. Yeah, uh I'm not smacked, but I'm still here, and because of that, I think I'm going to give it a 7.6. Well, you laugh. The plot thickens.

Yeah, I laugh. And we'll see why. Well, one hour later, uh, like I said before, the high is the same as when I finished, and even though it wasn't a big high, it's a very consistent and very present. I feel it everywhere. It's just uh kind of undeterminate, but it was nice. And the smoking experience itself was nice, also. Classic diesel notes on the lighter side and also on the weight. It was not as heavy as diesel, but it it fit the build. And because the smoke was nicely tuned, as it's been the norm for uh a lot of these less coast products where everything is nicely balanced, it made the experience, it actually heightened the experience throughout. So it made it a decent smoke, although there was a bit of that uh peppery all along the way. Uh low-key high, stayed the whole way. I liked it very much. So I'm also gonna give it a 7.6.

You know, I haven't seen that in a while. Very cool, but just make sure you have time to sit down and smoke it.
