Smoking session review of the Lemon Candy Runtz cannabis strain released by Runtz.

SPEAKER_01

Review for Lemon Skimps.

SPEAKER_00

Two. And we're back with Gigglin' Highland. Today we are reviewing Lemon Candy Runts by Runts.

SPEAKER_01

Runts, originally a West Coast exotic brand, it is now part of the higher-end offerings in New York State, founded by Young LB and Ray Bama. They are the cultivators. However, the distributors are one-off manufacturing, which uh packages other brands like Strain Gang and Doobie Labs. So they're like a big distributor of New York State marijuana. And if one off is involved, so is AP Cohen. They're the packaging company.

SPEAKER_00

Definitely. Lemon Candy Runts, a 50-50 hybrid genetic cross between Runts and Lemon Tree. Top effects are euphoric, relaxed, and hungry. Top flavors are butter, lemon, and citrus. Top terps are linolul, caryophylline, mersine, and limonine. THC values are as follows: 21% according to Leafly, 19-23% according to All Bud, and a hefty 29.7% according to Runts.

SPEAKER_01

And this strain today came in a 3.5-ounce glass jar with the distinctive purple and white packaging of Runts. It retails usually anywhere between $55 and $70. And today we got our strain from Altocana off the corner of Church and Chamber Street in Tribeca. It's right across from the DC 737 uh health center. Make sure to pay them a visit, guys.

SPEAKER_00

Definitely.

SPEAKER_01

And I think we're ready to uh roll this. We're ready. Let's do it.

SPEAKER_00

Let's do it. And we're ready for the roll. Skip. How did it break? It broke kindy even to small, but was difficult to roll due to its fluffiness and very sticky tricomb that would stay on the fingers, on the paper, basically on everything it touched. Yeah, it was pretty sticky. So how much was left over? Not much. It was enough for the session, which is one blunt and one joint, and it's barely enough left for one roll.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I gotta see that. Um, let me reiterate as far as the look, it was really fluffy. It made it so hard to roll. It was just flying out of everywhere. Dark greens, light greens, beige, brown hairs, very strong turf profile. That distinctive runt scent came out right from the package. Yeah. That yellow coating that uh Skip talked about, it kind of masked the tricons until it was broken and it was like sticky everywhere.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, and it was funny because it felt like the citrus scent came from the tricons, which is where it was very sticky, resin y, and that's where the citrus note just popped out of. Right. Medium-sized nugs, supple, and they were fluffy, like we said, feet and a crazy feature just to finish it off. Uh, when we broke it up, it turned kind of bluish. Yeah, that was which was interesting. Yeah. I think we're ready to smoke it and find out. I'm ready. Let's do it. Let's do it. Oh, it's really fluffy. Like you could feel, right? Do you feel it? Yeah, like it feels very soft. Yeah. First pulls without lighting, distinctive runs comes through and through. You do get kind of a citrus, also. It is there, it's there. So it's so far um pretty accurate as far as the turf profile and the flavors. Let's see what happens when you light it. It's like a milky citrus or a milky lemon, yes. And it comes in right over the top of the runt.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Well, that was interesting. I didn't, in handling and crushing and rolling, didn't get no lemon. More citrus than an orangey type. But in the taste and the flavor, it's like it's there. The exhale is very lemony. Yeah. And at first it was like not even natural lemon, it was like lemon pledge or something, like artificial. Right, like an artificial lemon. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, it goes to mention also that it has that distinctive Runz bouquet, also. So a company like Runce, we know it started in California. We know it started years ago. They already had a presence in California when New York legalized marijuana. Um and so bringing their brand here, you know, the question remains, is this an MSO? Is this a multi-state operation? Or is it something different where really who's doing all this is uh is one off? Is this all just really one-offs marijuana? Right? So, where does this distinction fall with this one, right? Because you have a brand from another state, you have a distributor that distributes other brands in New York State. So, really, who owns this? Right, right?

SPEAKER_00

And on top of that, I'm noticing that the smoke, although that uh the coughing is caused by that very top lemon thing going, it has like a tuned thing going on, which is common with brands. Right.

SPEAKER_01

So, in other words, it doesn't choke too much, right? It's not the strongest turp profile, it's a it's a very smooth taste. Yeah. Um, so it looks like the design goes further than the THC content and the terps. It goes into like how, you know, the the smoking experience. How's it gonna feel to smoke it? How's it gonna taste? Is it gonna make you cough a lot? Right. Which makes me think that these are you know uh brands created for high-end casual consumers, right? If you're someone that doesn't smoke every day, but you're willing to pay top dollar when you smoke, right? It looks like these are the type of brands for you. So I'm already in my first third, very fluffy, smoking fast. Um yeah, I feel something already. I feel something in my forehead, in my frontal lobe. Um, spider senses are tingling. Uh I'm not gonna go into the effects yet because I don't think I'm there yet.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_01

But uh definitely starting to feel something, which is encouraging.

SPEAKER_00

So it's safe to say that this particular uh brand is called runs. So I can safely assume that all their wares are runs.

SPEAKER_01

Runts-based, right? Okay, I would assume the same. And all and the strains that we have tested so far from runs, they all end with runs, right?

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

Right? So lemon candy runs, lemon tree runs, you know, Obama runs. So they all end with the same runs.

SPEAKER_00

Right. Which is smart, you know, marketing, easy marketing, but also risky at the same time, you know, I'm thinking. You know, because uh, I mean you're basing your whole brand line on one particular substance.

SPEAKER_01

So you risk your you know, you risk yourself of becoming a niche product, right?

SPEAKER_00

You know, but at the same time, that was that could also be a stroke of genius due to the fact that yes, take a you know, runs is very ubiquitous as far as people's perception of it. When you say runs or gelato, people already have the the scent and taste in mind, right? So it's very a very easy recall, what I'm trying to say. So it's also smart. It would be the same as let's say uh naming a brand haze.

SPEAKER_01

And having all kinds of haze, having different types of haze, right?

SPEAKER_00

Which I think is there a brand that does that? There's a few small growers, but I don't think the name no. But small growers that are trying to specialize in haze or are specializing, yes.

SPEAKER_01

I wonder what ran into the decision that we're gonna go with runs. True, true. But then again, like we said, this company predates New York. This this company, if I recall correctly, starts in California started in California before legalization in New York. So is this a brand licensing deal? You get what I mean? Right. I mean, did they just license the brand and really it's one-off that's selling their marijuana? Under these different brands.

SPEAKER_00

Then they have runs across their brand because they also feature Strang Gang, which has their own version as well. They just have a different name for it. So it seems like as a comp as a marketing company or as a company as a whole, they have particular things going on, different fronts and stuff going on.

SPEAKER_01

All right. Looks like it's about time to start looking at the effects and seeing what's going on. Euphoric. Do you feel euphoric, Skip? Not more than usual. A little openness, a little openness, relaxed. A little bit. Yeah, I could say I'm I feel a little relaxed. Yeah, that's starting to kick in. Hungry, you know. Not particularly. I just had a sandwich before I started, so it goes back. If I was hungry now, then yes, I would say that's an effect because I just had a sandwich, so it'd be weird if I'm hungry. Um, as far as flavors in the beginning was that lemon pledge, definitely got that citrus, and then it does have that sour candy element into it. Yeah. So yeah, that's pretty accurate.

SPEAKER_00

Another flavor they threw in like a butter on some of these sites there.

SPEAKER_01

That's you know, I think that that's like, remember the milkiness that came over the top? Maybe that's what they mean by butter. Yeah, that's what I was thinking as well. And if that's true, that means that in the beginning it nailed that too. Yeah. Even though I don't taste that now. Um hitting about halfway. A high is coming in. Uh as far as physicality. Um I wouldn't say it's medicinal. Like I'm not numb, I'm not not feeling any of my kinks, but um, at the same time, it's not giving me any kinks. So yeah, I guess that's pretty uh balanced. Um as far as yeah, just getting a general fogginess in the brain, you know, the runs feeling. Yeah, right? Yeah, it's it's uh it's the old school standard runs high right now. Yeah, a smooth run, you know. Yeah, like a smooth runce, you know. Like somebody said, Yeah, we're gonna have a runs, but we're gonna make it smooth. We're gonna make it something that just eases in. And that's kind of how it feels. It's not loud, it feels like it's something that's easing itself in. Um, as far as what I would use it for, it doesn't seem to be something for social settings, but I'm not on couch lock or anything like that either. Right. So I guess you're gonna, you know, it's pretty much where you want to take it. But um, it's not gonna push you towards any direction. Right.

SPEAKER_00

And although it's uh listed sativa dominant, I don't feel the usual sativa, you know, hallmarks.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I mean, it does say that if it is sativa dominant, it's really close, like 55-45, you know, 60-40. So it's like that's a really close, you know, that's almost a hybrid, right? Right, uh full hybrid. So doesn't make me particularly chatty or anything like that. And I'm not like quiet in a corner either, right? Leave me alone. I'm not like that either. Leave me alone. That's not happening either.

SPEAKER_00

So it doesn't have, or at least at this point, that particular like uh magnetism in like a talking situation.

SPEAKER_01

No, it doesn't make you chatty. No, you it needs a bit of a push there. Uh so down to the last third, and um yeah, that's the kind of high that's setting in. If you're very familiar with old school runs, yeah, they they pretty much nailed it as far as their blend, uh, the old school runs feel. Um, it does taste a little lemony, citrusy, so I guess that's where the lemon part comes in. And yeah, the only distinctiveness that I can say, like Skip said earlier, is that uh, you know, it has like a smooth feel to it. Like it's you know, it's not loud, but you still get the high. Oh yeah. So runs is considered one of the upper tier price-wise. Uh it can go anywhere from about $50 to $70. Yeah. That's hefty. Hefty. And you know, yeah, that's pretty hefty in the New York market for a 3.5 ounce jar. Yeah, you can find a 3.5 ounce package for $20.

SPEAKER_00

So and slowly becoming the norm.

SPEAKER_01

You know, all they have to do is label it high-end. Right. So I I guess what I'm saying is if you're gonna charge somebody $60 for a jar, 3.5 ounce jar, you know, you do have to come on strong and correct, and they have to be very satisfied with their product.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, you know, at least we can try for that, you know, aim for that. And from the beginning, this one is kind of measuring it up, you know, nice packaging, of course. And as soon as we opened it, we were uh surprised with the uh uh freshness seal on it, which is always a nice idea. That's right. Good job, Ronz. Good job. Yeah, you know, I I don't recall if I've seen that in the runs before. That's why it caught me off guard. Right. I I thought one that we had did not have freshness seal. We will review that and and check for sure, but that's why it caught me off guard. And it was a nice surprise because as soon as the pro opened it, you can hear the freshness in it. Very supple. So it started off in a good direction. Right, right.

SPEAKER_01

Gotta keep it fresh. Whenever you can. Always the best thing to do. Um another hallmark that I would say of runs is the fluffiness of their buds, very fluffy buds. Yeah, not a complaint, not a complaint, just a feature that I find interesting. So far, I've we've tried a few different strains, and they'll have a fluffiness to them when you break them up.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. This one in spades, interesting too. That little blue hue that kind of happens after you uh grind it up.

SPEAKER_01

When you get all those colors together, right? Turned it into like bluish. It was actually kind of cool. Yeah. All right, let's run back the effects again. So euphoric.

SPEAKER_00

That openness and you know, well, a little well-being, that feeling of wellness.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so yeah. And I don't, I'm not sure if it goes all the way to euphoric. It's more like uplifted to me. Right, right. That would be but it's in the ballpark, relaxed. Yeah, yeah. A little relaxed. Feeling a little relaxed, not super relaxed, right? But a little relaxed. Um and hungry. That one always makes me laugh. Uh, I'm not hungry, are you? No. I'll be hungry later. Maybe that's on the calm down. Maybe you want to snack on the calm down? Um, it's keeping its turp profile. Um I'm in the last third, middle of the last third, and it's keeping its turp profile pretty strong.

SPEAKER_00

It runs through and through. And a consistent eye. Now the eye is on. It's not overwhelming, but nice, it's a nice ride. And it's uh particularly consistent, at least for for runs in my experience, which is also nice. A you particularly is in the uh low 20 percentile range normally, and for some that's a little too much, and for some that's too little. But this one here is fitting the bill pretty nice.

SPEAKER_01

Looks like they got the entourage effect, correct? Right, there it is. There it is. Final pulls lost, no, still has it, it still has the lemon, right? And the runt. Runt is like loud still to the end, but I just got a little bit of the lemon pledge kind of. Wow, that's impressive.

SPEAKER_00

R U feel but let's just start off like coming from R U V.

SPEAKER_01

So rolling into my just finished. I just wanted to hold on to that last pull a little bit there. Um, yeah, it was a pleasant smoke. I really enjoyed it. Got the lemon and the runt, the citrusy, sour citrus, all of that. Got it. Even the sour candy, a little bit, even the butter, we felt like we got a little bit, which is like a secondary flavor. Um, yeah, that was pretty cool, man. Um, I'm not smacked, right? But it's a nice high. It's an old school high. It's runs, it's runs high. Yeah. Um, and they nailed runs. Uh, so yeah, hopefully it lasts for me for an hour like this.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, same goes for me, rolling into my just finish as well. And yeah, consistent throughout. That runs feel a little on the, I would say a little bit on the heavy side, just a little bit, and it's nice. And let's see how that goes into the hour. An eternity later.

unknown

An eternity later.

SPEAKER_01

And we're back one hour later. So, Skip, how did the hour go?

SPEAKER_00

Well, there was a lot to do within the hour, and so the high was traveling along right with me, but was not getting in the way, which was nice, and it stayed consistent. So that was uh pretty interesting.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, one hour later for me, still high-ish, no doubt about it. It was uh interesting come down. The come down was mostly physical for me. Um felt it a lot in the shoulders, so I started getting kinks in the shoulders and in the back. But as far as men, you know, um the highness feeling, the mental high, it was uh, you know, it was it was a smooth come down, and it didn't come down too much. It was actually okay for a minute there. So yeah, that wasn't too bad. And I think um I mean I didn't get to the smack level, right? But it was consistent as as high as it got.

SPEAKER_00

And yeah, that seemed to be the common thread here with this. This is uh consistency, right?

SPEAKER_01

And with that, I think it's time for the smack ometer. Let's do it. Let's do it. Definitely feel like this. This is alright. This is actually alright, and definitely feel like this. This is alright, this is actually alright.

SPEAKER_00

And we're back with the smack emeter. How does it go, pro?

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so I guess uh let's let's do the rundown as we usually do. Okay, so uh started off, you know, nice packaging. Like the fact that it was sealed. Uh when we opened it, turp profile jumped right out of the page. Really nice. You know, the the weed, how it looked, really fluffy, really fluffy. That was like the biggest feature of the actual uh marijuana itself, made it hard to roll.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Uh dark greens, light greens, beiges, brown hairs. Um, had a very strong turp profile, like I said before. That distinctive runt scent. Uh it had a yellow coating that was like, I guess were the tri-cones or just uh, you know, coating, but it was really nice because the coating was what smelled like citrus. Medium-sized nugs, they were fluffy. Um, and that cool little feature that we said earlier that it turned bluish when we broke it up. Uh, so that was the rolling and opening experience. That was pretty good. Uh, smoking started out a little bit of a choker, but other than that, it was really good. As far as effects, euphoric. We felt more uplifted than euphoric, but I guess that counts in the same ballpark. Uh, relaxed, definitely relaxed. Hungry, still not hungry. So I guess that one didn't work out for me. Um, as far as the flavors went, it definitely did the citrus, it definitely had lemon, it definitely had runs, and at some points it even had the sour candy. So that was pretty accurate, too. Uh, the smoking experience was cool. Right after I smoked, it was a foggy feeling. It was like pins and needles kind of feel in the membrane, which is great. And it was very enjoyable. It lasted most of the time. And like I said at the end, the come down was more physical than mental. The mental part was very, I was still high ish. And that was a good thing. Did I ever reach smack level? No. But you know, it did the job. It did a good job. And it was like a classic runs feel. And for that, I'm going to give it a 7.8. Very fair.

SPEAKER_00

Like-minded, like usual. This is a good example, folks, of uh starting off with a good idea and executing it all the way through. I say this because from when we got the product to opening it, we were pleasantly surprised with the freshness seal. That was great. And then as we got to the product, it was very supple, very fresh, very fluffy, very impressive. Uh terps just jumping out there. Again, rolling it was unique. It was resinous, sticky, and like the blue hue, if you will, that we experienced was also nice. And it's totality a nice product. A nice product. And this is at the high end, folks. So this is where we always demand. If you want the high end, meet the high end. And this episode of Runt is there. So I'm gonna give it an eight. It did what it's supposed to do.

SPEAKER_01

Oh Skip actually more impressed than I am. That's rare. Hey, it is what it is. And good mates, that is our review today.
