Smoking session review of the Obama Runtz cannabis strain released by Runtz.
Welcome back to Giglin's Highland. You're here with the Skipper and the Professor, and today we are reviewing Obama Runts.
SPEAKER_01By Runts. Runts, a West Coast exotic specialty brand offering high-end weed where, quote, no mids and no knockoff is their motto.
SPEAKER_03As far as the strain itself, it's a 70-30 indica-dominant hybrid of Afghanist with OG Kush and Runts itself. The turfs are caryophylline, mercine, and lemonine. The effects are hungry, talkative, and relaxed. Flavors are tea, berry, and diesel. Our friends at Leavely have almost no information on this, but they are intimating that it's around 18%, all but says 14 to 28%. And our friends at Runts say 30.57% THC.
SPEAKER_01Three and a half or one eighth in a glass jar. Average price, $50 to $70. This haul here comes from our good friends at Long Island Cannabis Club in Deer Park, New York. It's right on East Industry Court, folks. Make sure to pay them a visit. Definitely. Are we ready for the roll? We're ready for the roll skip. Let's do it. And we're back with the roll. How did it go, pro?
SPEAKER_03Well, I gotta say, broke pretty small. Uh we had enough for yours, we had enough for mine, but there's not much left. How did it look, Skip?
SPEAKER_01Super medium to large, supple, and very fresh nugs, mixed greens with a dusting of yellow tricombs, dark runt notes, almost chocolate, and it kind of goes deep into the chem territory. Yes, it does.
SPEAKER_03I think we're ready to smoke it and see what it does. Definitely. Let's do it. Let's do it. Impressions. Let's take a look. Uh definitely smell the runs, and I smell kind of the diesel. I don't smell the tea or the berry. Man, nobody's gonna say this is not a runs, that's for sure. Yeah. I do taste the diesel. I don't really taste the berry or the tea. Let's see what happens when we light it, folks. Wow. First pull, it had that little bit of that electric kind of taste in it. You taste that like ozone? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, runs tends to do that. This is a very, very strong runce um dominated strain. Looking for the right word. Well, first pull was pretty smooth. I'm looking for the berry and tea, but I'm not getting it yet. How about you skip? No, no.
SPEAKER_01And that runs note, you know, it could be construed many different ways because, you know, it's it's kind of fruity, but undeterminate.
SPEAKER_03So I guess you can argue that it has berry. I don't taste the tea though. But then again, I mean is there really one flavor that's tea? Right, right. Tea has many different flavors. Yeah. Nice smooth pulse, but um not really choking on it. Yeah, we grunted. Smoke is thick. Uh smoke is okay. It's not too thick, but it's not too thin either.
SPEAKER_01Um it's like fancy smoke, you know.
SPEAKER_03Like I'm kind of starting to feel something already. A little bit of uh uh, you know, expansiveness. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Like if my uh my lobes are starting to clear themselves out. You know, um runs is not, you know, my first reach, but this one's nice, it's smooth, you know. It's a very tuned experience. Not too much of anything, everything's tuned. It's an indiga hybrid.
SPEAKER_03I am starting to feel a little something. Physically wise, I'm feeling a little um fogginess in the back of my head. Uh as far as body, nothing yet. I'm trying to see if I get anything else, but no, that's pretty much it. It's like starting as a fogginess in the back of my head. So it looks like Runs has a uh thing where they name the the strains after president uh because they have this one, Obama runs. And I know that I saw that they have one called Trump runs. Oh, okay. That makes sense. Okay. So I got a presidential theme going on. Yeah, well, that's pretty smart. I'm in my first third. Like I said, the spider senses are tingling. I'm feeling something. I'm not getting the tea or the berry. I'm getting the diesel, I'm getting the the runs, and I guess a little berry, I guess you can argue. Let's look at the effects for the first time, Skip. Are you hungry? No. Do you feel talkative?
SPEAKER_01No, not really, but you know.
SPEAKER_03Are you feeling relaxed?
SPEAKER_01A little bit, yes. Okay, so we got relaxed.
SPEAKER_03I have to concur, I don't feel hungry or talkative either. One thing of note when we looked at the COA, we read the COA because we need information from the COA so that we can give you more accurate information. And it was interesting to see that the company on the COA was not Runz. The company on the COA was A.P. Cohen packaging. Right. And so who's really behind this marijuana? That's something we're gonna explore a little further.
SPEAKER_01Well, I mean, we've seen a few varietals out there that uh have the same information. So it's safe at this point to, you know, say that that's probably the same people.
SPEAKER_03Their credit does not taste the same as the other brands that they market. Right.
SPEAKER_01But it does share like that tuned thing I'm talking.
SPEAKER_03Certain characteristics.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, smooth, smooth smoke. Price point. Right, right. Higher end. Yeah, they're at the higher end of the spectrum for an eighth.
SPEAKER_03So I'm about halfway in, a little bit before halfway in, and uh yeah, as you can see, the talkative part is kind of ascending because we're here having rapid fire back and forth. Uh, we said we were relaxed. Um, hungry, yeah. No. That's when I'm hungry, I'm just hungry. I don't think it has anything to do with being high. I mean, I know I know about the munchies and stuff like that, but still only tasting uh runs with a touch of diesel and a very slight touch of a maybe a berry. Right. I remember when runs first came on the scene, and they didn't have these names though. Like the runs company has. It had like pink runs. Okay, pink is a company, yeah. Like pink runs, and then it was like um, it was kind of like those names. It wasn't as fancy. Right.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_03On the street level, you mean? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01The runs, yeah, they would say, yeah.
SPEAKER_03It was just runs. And then there was like pink runs. Yeah. And that was like it. So it's interesting to see how many different strains of runs this company has, and they all taste like runs from at least the ones we've tried so far. Right. Uh, so you know, I guess that's their claim of fame that it's gonna have runs in it. And uh, this is originally a West Coast brand. Okay. Uh, it looks like they're, I guess, licensing their brand name to AP Cohen. Right. So that AP Cohen could sell it under the runs umbrella. Pretty much. Yeah, it's like a fancy runs. Yeah. Uh, and it's it's tastes nice. I am getting high, I'm feeling the high. Yeah, yeah. You know, it's a pleasant experience, like not too much choking, you know, flavors not too strong or or acrid.
SPEAKER_04Right.
SPEAKER_03Uh yeah, it's something good for like a beginner that wants to pay good money. That says, you know, walks in the store and says, give me the best stuff, you know, and just throws the tie top shelf and really doesn't know what he's talking about. So you can just hand them whatever. And he's buying it by the price tag. He would he would enjoy this. And actually, a lot of those brands that you're talking about and the their characteristics, it would be enjoyable by that person. Yeah, I guess that's the target audience, right?
SPEAKER_01That guy. I mean, because it's not everyone that can, you know, put down almost almost with tax and everything, $100 for an eighth. Yeah, you think about it, it's approximately two dollars per $10 of cost of the bud, right?
SPEAKER_03So that's $14 tax there. Around $14 in tax. Or it can it can be less. It could be uh it's I would say it's about seven or eight dollars in tax. Because it's I re I've noticed that when I buy like a thirty dollar bag, it's about four dollars in tax. Okay. So this is about seven or eight dollars in tax, which means you buy a seventy dollar bottle, you're paying eighty dollars for 3.5 ounce.
SPEAKER_01Which for some it's maybe two sessions if you have multiple heads.
SPEAKER_03Well, I mean, just skip an eye right here. Yeah, it's it's like maybe one left, maybe one, right? And it's not gonna be a hefty one, right?
SPEAKER_01So, yeah. So this is definitely for folks that economics is not an issue, right? Who's not trying to uh you know be frugal in their marijuana budget?
SPEAKER_03Right, but the quality is there, definitely, yes. It's it feels like a classic runs to me, right? You know, I have I have that uh spacey feeling, right? But without the edges, you know, the as far as no edge, right? Exactly. That's a perfect way to put it, Skip. And you know, the expansiveness in the head, yeah. Uh, you know, the foggy feeling, it already it already migrated to the front of my head. So it's now all of my head feeling that way. And it feels great, you know. It feels great. Um are you smacked?
SPEAKER_01No, no, not at all. And it burns slow, and no.
SPEAKER_03But I will say I'm not that far away. I am okay. Like I'm in a good it's a good high. It's a good high. Uh let's look at the effects, Skip. Uh, yeah, I'm down to my last third, so it's time for the effects. Hungry? No. Talkative. Yeah, we've been talking. At least I've been yapping. Relaxed. We said relaxed came in already. So okay. Uh pretty much rolling how it said it's gonna roll. Yeah. Which, you know, that's always a good thing.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_03That's what you want when you buy this, right? You want what you're this experience. Exactly. As far as what's it good for, definitely social. You definitely will be in a chatty mood, and you know, you will be able to hold your own in a conversation. No problem. Uh yeah, I don't feel any type of heaviness, so it is it's not gonna couch lock you. So, yeah, this is definitely something you can go out with and have fun with it. I would definitely you know, recommend it for that. You're going out, peeps, you want to smoke something really nice and uh tasty and uh, you know, strong, strong, gonna hit your nice. This is good. And I think by by runt is supposed to be a little sweet, right? Like it's about the candy, right? Yeah, but it doesn't taste like candy right now.
SPEAKER_02That's one thing I can say.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, this one tastes like marijuana, yeah, but not in a bad way. Sounds like they're coming to get us kidding. Smoke it all, smoke it all. Smoke it before they get here. Harry, burn it, burn it. Those were the days or you know, once or twice when the cop catches you smoking that J, and you're like, oh man. And you see him, and he sees you, and you're just like, you know what? I'm gonna take this last poll because I'm already screwed. You know what I mean? And and I've actually had a cop or two be like, go ahead, do it. Like, take the last one, go ahead. In my face. Right. Yeah, I remember in the outlaw days, you know, you were always in a group of friends and stuff, and uh, we're all driving back from Brooklyn, and nobody smoked yet. But we rolling, you know, everybody's rolling, and we get pulled over by the cops, and we're like, oh man, we're so caught. We're so caught, man. And they were like, you know what, we don't care about the the weed. We want to make sure none of you got guns. Anybody got guns? And we were like, nope, check anything you want. And they looked a little bit, and my friend, you know, trying to be slick, he he had a blunt in his hand and he kind of like threw it on the floor, like off to the side, but they didn't make it. So it was like right there on the floor. And but he's trying to act natural, you know, and whatever. And so the whole thing goes down, you know. The cops look, we let him look in the car because it's like nobody had guns. So we're like, yeah, go ahead, look, man, go ahead. So they look in the car, they look around, they're like, all right, all right. They're like, all right, thanks. You guys could go and stuff. And we're like, thanks, man. The cop, the last cop, looks goes down, bends down, picks up the blunt, and hands it back to my friend and walks out. And we're like, wow, these guys are the coolest. Yeah, it was a those funny stories of when it was the days of the outlaw. He had to be an outlaw to smoke weed. Sometimes, you know, I kind of miss those days. Yeah, you know, sometimes I find myself, you know, I'll be I'll walk down the street smoking a J and I'll see a cop car and I'll actually like freeze for a second and like put my hand down and stuff, and then you're like, wait, wait, it's legal now. It's legal now.
SPEAKER_01Right, you know, muscle memory.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's happened to me quite a few times before I got used to it. But you know, now it's like it's funny, especially when you're from like the old school and stuff, like Skipping, because it's hilarious because there's people that used to just condemn you for smoking marijuana, you're a degenerate and all this stuff. That's drugs, you know? Right. And now they're smoking weed, and they're like, you want to smoke some weed? And you're like, seriously, like you, exactly, and they're just looking at you like, yeah, and you're like, wow, like that's that's one that I always find very interesting.
SPEAKER_01They're the same people now holding up the line at the dispensary, yeah. Like, I don't know what I want to get. Yo, hurry up! What is the ladies in Indikas?
SPEAKER_03And so, who do you recommend? Exactly. And yeah, so that's that, that's that guy now. Or the guy, or the guy blogging about the the the small batch, yeah, you know, that he found that's like creamy with a touch of cinnamon and all this crap, and you're like, oh my Lord, dude, before this, you were like, you're a drug addict. Yeah, you're derelict drug addict. You need to go to rehab the ironies of life. You know, that's why sometimes I I find that the argument of you know some segments of the population that believe that all drugs should just be legalized. Right. You know, and that it's a human choice. You know, you want to do that craziness, it's up to you, you know. But we don't recommend it, you know. It's uh it has a little merit.
SPEAKER_01It's uh I guess that's a libertarian kind of shh, you know, bent and a scientific merit because it's uh it's proven.
SPEAKER_03Like all you should have really is treatment, you know, like absolutely so we can help you get out of it, you know, if you want, but no judgment, you know, like hey, you know, especially because in society it's you know, um, the party is glorified. And what's the party? What are the main party favors? Alcohol, food, you know, and drugs, right? That's what people go to parties to do. People don't go to parties to, you know, um, you know, to like pretty much do other things. That's usually the main part of most parties. You're eating, you're drinking, you're s you're doing drugs or something like that. You know, that's what people go for. Right. You know, it's it's a weird contrast where you have, you know, oh yeah, we're in a party, everybody drinks in the party, woo, and yay, and keg party and all this stuff. But at the same time, you know, this is a scourge against your life and an addiction, you know.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_03It's a balance. That's uh that's kind of like American society. Period. Yeah, I was about to say that. Yeah. Puritanical sexual values while having the largest porn industry in the world. Yeah. Yeah, you know, that kind of thing. So, yeah. I don't know if it's the largest in the world now, but it was for a very long time.
SPEAKER_01The largest consumers of everything.
SPEAKER_03We like what we want, we want what we want, we pay for what we want. That's how it is. America. Take my money. Shut up and take my money. That's right. Man, this last third, like, lived an extra life. Yeah. And as you can tell, a lot of the nonsense we're talking about, it must be that we're high. Because man, we're coming up with stuff today. Yeah. We're in rare form today, folks. Must be the strain.
SPEAKER_00R U feed.
SPEAKER_01Are you feeling but let's just start off like coming from my tree.
SPEAKER_03That's nice. Very nice. Um yeah. Feel good. Class for me, classic runs. Right. That's the feeling I have right now. Uh so maybe this is their most, you know, because runs, the brand, has a lot of different flavored runs, right? Lemon tree runs, white cherry runs. Maybe this is their runs, runs. Right. You know, like here it is, the original. And they just named it Obama runs. But that's what it felt like to me. Yeah. And hopefully it feels the same way that it feels now in an hour.
SPEAKER_01Yep. Rolling into my just finished, and yeah, man, this is nice. It's runs, of course. Uh, there's no way around that, but it's fancy runs, the type that you can smoke with your pinky up. It lives up to the hype. It does. And let's see how that goes into the hour. See you later, alligator.
SPEAKER_04An eternity later.
SPEAKER_01An eternity later. And we're back with Giggling Highland. One hour later. How does it go, bro? Nice experience.
SPEAKER_03Classic runs feel. Uh, the the hour went by pretty quick. It was just a fun hour. Uh, was looking at different things. We were talking about different things on the news, and the hour went by quickly, like I said. I thought it was pretty enjoyable. Uh, it tapered some. Uh, I'm definitely in my post, but uh it was a smooth transition, and the post is pretty good too. What do you think, Skit?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, very nice. The smoke, very nice, very tuned, decent smoke throughout. It was a nice experience, and the high is consistent. Of course, you know, one hour later it dropped a little bit, but I'm still flying, and it's still a nice experience. One hour later. Yeah, okay. I think we're ready for the smackometer. Let's do it. Let's do it.
SPEAKER_02Definitely feel like this. This is alright. This is actually alright. I'm definitely feeling this.
unknownThis is alright.
SPEAKER_02Skip, give us the rundown.
SPEAKER_01Good experience. Uh, this, of course, is at the high end of the uh three and a half, and uh it commands the top price there, and it's a runs, but um it really does what it's supposed to do because, like I reiterated, it's a fancier runs without the edges, the sharp edges. So, with that, I'll give it a 7.5.
SPEAKER_03So, rundown. When we first opened it, the turp profile had us right away. The weed was light greens, dark greens, brown hairs, a yellowish amber dusting that coated the buds. Looked really pretty. Um, like I said, loud turp profile right out the package. And there was no confusing the runs, right? It was like uh there was some chem too, but there was no confusing the runs. Uh the nugs were supple, small and medium sized. Uh it was very loud when we broke it up, too, as far as the runs smell. Uh, when we smoked it, it was pretty much a pleasant smoke. Uh, not too much choking. Even throw tickling. It was just a pleasant smoke. And it went by pretty quickly. It burned kind of quick, uh, except for the end. Uh, as far as flavor profile, it definitely had the the runs, it had a little bit of diesel, and then we said like a touch of berry. There was no tea. As far as the effects, we never got hungry. We definitely were talkative and we definitely were relaxed. Right. Okay, so my final thoughts. Um, it for me, for me, it was classic runs. It was classic runs. So I don't know if that's what they mean by Obama runs, that it's the classic runs of their run, but that's what it was for me. And when it comes to classic runs, uh, I'm I'm not, it's not the usually the first thing I go for, but I do enjoy runs very much. Uh, and it had all the characteristics, you know, the the runs taste, uh slightly chem taste, and the slight touch of sweetness, of course, which is why they call it runs. Um, and it had all of those hallmarks. So it was something that even if it's not the original phenotype of the plant, runs, it's definitely a a really close facsimile or the exact thing, and I think that's fantastic. So with that, I and I enjoyed it. I didn't get smacked, but I was high and it was pleasantly so. And so with that, I'm gonna agree with Skip and give it a 7.5. I think uh that's pretty much around the right place where it should be.
