Cam, California Artisanal Medicine, was founded in 2009 in Colorado. In 2023, they went multi-state, eventually coming to New York, partnered with another MSO, which is PharmaCan, to distribute a multi-state product.

As far as the strain, folks, it is a 6040 indica dominant hybrid. It can be either papaya and GMO strains or papaya and derburger strains. The turps are caryophylline, lemonine, and linen lool. Flavors are tropical sour, citrus, and dank. Effects are euphoric, giggly, and hungry. Hopefully it is giggly. I love giggly. And as far as TAC content, our friends at Leafly say 30%. Our friends at Allbud say 25 to 31%. Our friends at Camp say 26.78%. And this is the first time that All Bud and Leafly had a greater number than the actual company.

Let's do it. And we're back with the roll. How did it go, pro? Well, it broke a little big, and I found that out because I broke it up and then I had trouble closing the joint. As far as if the sample was enough, definitely enough. We gotta have an ounce. Always enough.

How did it look, Skip? Small to medium sized nugs with dark greens and short pistols, orange hairs and gold tricombs, a loud sweet pack, a fruity explosion, very citrusy, very candy. That sounds like something I want to smoke.

Are we ready? We're ready. Let's do it. Okay, first impression. Smells like a sweet kind of fruit candy, which is a very interesting smell. Um, taste sweet too. Wow, that does taste like papaya. Wow, that's very interesting. Yes. Definitely taste the papaya. I don't have the dankness yet, but we're gonna find out. Let's light it. Let's see what happens. So far, very mild flavor, has a nice sweetness to it. I'm not getting the dankness. Right. I do get a little bit of the sour citrus. Um, but other than that, pleasant. I only coughed once, and that's because I took a deep pull. Other than that, um, it's been smooth sailing so far. So Cam, California Artisanal Medicine. One of the funny things that when we did the research was we were like, okay, California Artisanal Medicine, but it was founded in Colorado. Right. So I don't know what happened there. Of course, it's a multi-state operation with a name like California Artisanal Medicine. Uh, it's been around for a long time, and apparently their owner is a lady who is considered, I think, the richest woman in the cannabis industry right now. Oh, yeah. Or something. Something like that. At least that's what something I was reading. I mean, that might just be the press release. Oh, okay. So this is a woman-owned company. Woman-owned. And it looks like it's just one person. Wow, that's awesome. Yeah, I'm pretty impressed. Um, and yeah, it looks like she's been taking these things back and forth since 2009. She started in Colorado, went to California, and then partnered up with PharmaCan. Pharmacan, as you know, is the company that uh that creates Live Well and Matter. Right. And, you know, not in New York, but in other states, we hear that they have actual stores like dispensaries, like so Live Well Dispensary, you know, like that kind of thing.

That would be nice. Okay, so it's good that you cleared that up. So it's basically like uh it's a partnership. Okay, so it's really not a total pharmacan brand.

Right. It's not it. Apparently, it's a different brand, and pharmacan is helping with the distribution.

Okay, okay, that's good to clear that up. I mean, you know, being that it's from Pharmacan is really not a big issue. For some people, you know, they have issues with MSOs and things of that nature here in New York State.

Well, I mean, I would argue that it is a problem because the original intention was to have uh legacy growers, were they called, right? Yeah, that they uh, you know, small growers, you know, and small sellers. And these guys are kind of taking over the industry. And, you know, it's only a matter of time before they squeeze people out. Of course. And the big problem with MSOs is that they usually tend to also be the higher priced items.

So, you know, these are the items that for an eighth, 3.5 grams are you're paying $60. So if they price out all the little guys out the market at one point, that means all 3.5 gram packages will be $60.

And somehow we gotta fight that, folks. It's not that I have anything personally against MSOs, it's that I don't want to pay $60 for $3.5 grams.

Absolutely. And I mean, this hall here reflects it. I mean, this is a nice, very easy, very tasty smoke, but the half ounce was $130. Yeah, it's kind of nuts. Yeah.

So I'm in my first third, uh, first quarter, and so far I am definitely feeling some type of uh like something going on.

Yeah, I was about to say openness, but no.

It's like I feel like uh something happening in the middle part of my uh of my lobes, right in the center of my brain. Uh, as far as physicality, I'm not really feeling anything, but then again, I'm not feeling anything, so it might be something good medicinally. Uh first third, let's jump into the effects. Do we feel euphoric, Skip? Not yet. Not yet. No, I'm not feeling euphoric either. Giggly? Oh, come on. Give me some giggly, man. Not yet. Not yet. And hungry. The one I never understood. If I'm hungry, I'm already hungry. Right. Uh no, I'm not feeling hungry. What I am feeling it's like a little fogginess setting in. It's giving me that little uh lazy brain. A little bit of an old school feel to it. But I mean, really smooth smoke, really nice, tastes sweet, yeah, but very light. Yeah, very light. I can see probably part of the their strategy when they made it, right? Something really smooth. Something that's not gonna make you cough too much. Right tastes really nice, smells wonderful. Yeah, looked beautiful. Yeah, the nugs were like very dense, very, very dense. Yeah, even though they were on the smallish side, yeah.

And still very supple, very nice, very supple. And reading the package here, it was packaged a mere six months ago. And you know, for some, that's a bit far, and it's still very fresh, very aromatic, very supple, very pretty. Yeah, so something Cam is doing with their mylar bags that it's actually keeping the moisture in it without a moisture pack.

And as you know, we have discussed in the past other companies that use mylar bags, and it seems like it's not protecting the product, right? So, you know, we can color us a little impressed. Yeah, this one here is so I wonder if this one is papaya and GMO or papaya and derburger. As I get to the halfway point, the flavors are getting stronger. Yeah, so I'm getting more tropical, more sour citrus. I still haven't got the dankness. Did you get dankness out of that?

No, not yet.

This was all fruit. So I'm at the halfway point, and you know, I am definitely feeling a high coming in. It's a strange feeling high because it's it's um it's very light. And I don't mean by light as far as like uh the the potency.

I mean it feels potent, but it gives you like a lightness in it.

Yes, yes, I do. This last pull just took me there. Yeah, it's a high without base, if that makes sense, because that last pull, yeah, I'm flying.

But I feel what you're saying. You're you're more you're levitating, it's right.

You're not like it's not dragging you down. It's kind of like you feel like you're dancing above it, yeah.

Kind of, yeah.

That's interesting. It's like when you walk in the snow and don't leave footprints. Yeah, that's how it feels. That's pretty good. I know that's a weird way to describe a high, but that's how it feels as the flavors get stronger. The smoke is also getting like stronger. You notice that? Yeah. I think that's an interesting feature. That as you smoke it, the flavors get stronger. I think that's actually very cool. Very cool. Yeah, because most times at this point you start you lose it, you start getting right the acridity of all the smoking and that has passed through. And this one's getting like more papaya. Was that a design? Yes, I think I am liking this high. Definitely getting denser that smoke. I can't even it's funny. It's like my face is kind of numb. It's a weird feeling. It's a funny feeling. Um, hitting my last third. It burns a little fast, but it might be it might just be me pulling because I'm like real, it's so tasty. So, like, it's like this really light, sweet, and sour candy fruit, dried fruit kind of thing going on. Yeah, but but it's not like really punching you in the face, it's like really light. It's very interesting, very interesting. Yeah, and it tastes really good. So you find yourself pulling again and again.

You're doing it because of the oral, like, yeah, and you like pull some more, and that might be why it's burning pretty quickly. But I'm down to my last third, and you know, back to the are you feeling euphoric? Well, that last pull there took me somewhere. Yeah, he looks like he's feeling euphoric. You gotta see the look on this guy's face. I don't got giggly yet, but you know, I am kind of feeling good. I'm not gonna lie. I'm not giggly, but I'm feeling good. Uh, and hungry, yeah. I'm not hungry. As far as flavor, now I'm starting to taste a little bit of the smoking, yeah. But it still has the papaya in there, still got the sour candy. I didn't get the dankness at all. Right. One thing I will give Cam. Sometimes when we're looking up the companies that sell some of these products, some of these strains, as we do many reviews. And we must say, sometimes it is impossible to find information about the company. It's like they want to stay a secret. Right. And we're gonna have a conversation about that down the road in another podcast because some of them are trying to stay secret, which is why, right? And we gotta ask that question. But other than that, uh I gotta say, Cam was very transparent. Right. Like they basically put their whole history out front. They said, This is us, right? This is who we partnered with, this is how we ended up in your state. Like, they are very wide open about their information. It's on their website, everything. And I can, you know, and as someone who has sometimes struggled to find information about some of these uh growing companies, yeah, you know, I appreciate that, Cam. And I gotta give you a shout-out for that. It's better to be transparent with your customers, you know, and then let them decide. You know, hey, this is who we are, you decide. Right. We don't have a problem with that. But one thing we will say is why it seems that the higher price items come from MSOs. This last third is fighting hard. Yeah, it is. It's like, oh, I'm not done with you yet. The sour candy has become more pronounced in the last third, and the papaya has kind of receded a little bit. It's still there, but it receded, and now I'm getting a lot more of the sour candy. And this is like at the end. How's it going for you, Skip? This is groovy, baby. This is nice.

It's nice, it tastes great. You know, it's potent. Yeah, we're enjoying it. But in an unexpected way, you know, it hits hard, but not like we described before, not straight punch in the face, none of the the physical attributes. But you you don't feel the pressure, but you feel like the pressure, kind of like the levity of it. It's like cotton-headed, yeah.

That's how I feel right now. Like cotton headed. Yeah, that's a good way. And yeah, physical-wise, like I don't know if this would be good for like aches and pains. Like, I still have my little kink, it didn't change much there. Um it's all mental. It's like a real, and it's like I literally feel cotton headed from my from you know the bottom of my nose where my lip my nose ends and my lip begins all the way up.

It's like just like cotton right now. Nice feeling. Yeah. And like Skip said, it kind of sneaks up on you.

Like I sat here the first kind of you know, third, 40%, like, yeah, I'm not really feeling anything. You know, oh, but it really tastes nice. Oh, yeah, that tastes really good. But I'm not feeling anything. Oh, that tastes really good. And then at just some point, it was like, wait, you know?

And yeah, that's where I'm at now. Really nice. It was a subtle like kick, like, wow. Oh, very interesting. They only uh say store for 11 months. Oh and return after 11 months. Hey, that's impressive.

Well, I don't know if they say return like that, they probably won't return it.

But let's just start off like coming from retailer. Okay, um, rolling into my just finish, and yeah, baby, this is nice. Uh the high is very prevalent, but again, without the physical attributes, so it's kind of sneaky.

Uh, feeling pretty good. Feeling pretty good. Uh, if it tapered, I don't know when that happened. But uh it's been a pretty enjoyable high so far. Uh there might be a little bit of a taper. But uh, you know, in the past hour I had a very active hour, uh, which is something I normally don't try to do when I'm doing one of these reviews, and uh, but you know, sometimes things happened, and I was um running around and doing a bunch of stuff, and it was like the high was there, but it it kind of receded a little bit into the background, and that was kind of nice. Right. And then when I actually sat back down, like I actually was a little bit afraid that I lost it. But then when I sat back down, it was like, oh wow, there it is. Wow, that was a nice feature. So how did you go? How did it go? Wow, how did it go for you, Skip? Uh let me get that out.

Yeah, similar experience. I also had a busy hour, and and the high seemed at one point to also disappear, but it really didn't. It was just in the back there waiting. And the same feeling. Now, an hour later, the high is not as strong. Um, but the uh the physical manifestation of it, I'm feeling more now, like the pressure and the abs and things like that. One hour later. Sounds pretty cool.

Skip, final thoughts. This was very nice, very nice. You know, great taste, and the smell is is actually it's hard to believe, you know. When even you'll stay looking at it, like, wow, how can something smell so sweet? You know, uh the high is interesting. Is I can describe it as like a shifty high because it's not a heavy high, but when you're not paying attention, it kind of sneaks up on you. And then it grabs a hold of you there for a while. So, and adding to that, the expense, this is expensive weed, you know, at $130 retail, you know, uh for a half ounce, it's a bit hefty. The quality is there, folks, and in my opinion, this quality shows us what should be the norm in all weed offered in New York State, and doesn't necessarily have to be at this high price, but the experience was great and delicious. So I'll give it an 8.0. Okay, interesting.

Alright, uh, let me give you the I guess final rundown. Okay, so we opened it, smelled very sweet. The turps were definitely working when we opened it. Uh gold, amber, light greens, orange hairs on these small to medium-sized nugs. Very supple, very dense nugs. They were like very bright, and they were covered with like this golden milky coating over the buttons, you know, the had to be the tricombs. Uh but they weren't shiny, they were just like a pollen type kind of thing. Uh I mean it smelled great. It smelled like kind of like fruit candy, or like uh dried fruit, like dried, like it reminded me a little bit of dried apricots. Like the smell. Smoking it, I mean, it was a great experience. In the beginning, you almost felt nothing. Uh and as it graduated towards the end, it's the taste just got more profound, which was a very interesting experience. I thought that was very enjoyable. As far as the high itself, I liked it a lot. Um it was a great high, you know, thinking about the effects. I did feel euphoria. I didn't get I didn't get much of the giggly stuff, so I can't say I got that. But uh, you know, definitely got the euphoric. Felt pretty good the whole time. Uh the high was like a fun high, you know, and that was kind of nice. You know, when you have that feeling, it's kind of like a positive feeling. You just feel good in whatever you're doing. You know, nothing's gonna get you down that hour or whatever, and that was a nice feeling. Um, so with all that, you know, like Skip said, I also have to consider the price point, you know, and say that, you know, this is expensive, which means A, not everybody's gonna want to spend this kind of money on marijuana or can spend this kind of money on marijuana. And it's one of the reasons why we normally, you know, are not big fans of MSOs because uh they tend to jack up the prices in retail. Um, and we're afraid that if they squeeze a little guy out, then we're gonna just be paying those high prices from now on, and that's gonna suck. And so you know, that is also something to keep in mind. But other than that, the experience was great. And you know, if I was looking at this in a blind taste test, I would definitely recommend it to anyone. But with that, I'm going to give it an A point.
