Smoking session review of the Gold Dust cannabis strain released by Banzzy 1305.

SPEAKER_04

You're tuning into Gigman's Highland. 420 Podcast. With your house, the Skipper.

SPEAKER_03

And welcome back to Gigman Highland. You're here with the Professor and the Skipper, and today we are reviewing Gold Dust by Bansy1305.

SPEAKER_04

Bansy1305, Boutique New York cultivator, known for its high-end, small batch, indoor-grown hybrid flower.

SPEAKER_03

As far as gold does the strain itself, it's an Indika dominant strain of Rainbow Runts and Scotty too hotie. The effects are sleepy, creative, and happy. Flavors are diesel, sweet, and pine. The terps are lemonine, caryophylline, and linolule. And as far as THC content, Leafly had no info. Do better, Leafly. All but had 21 to 24%. And Banzi says 28.4%.

SPEAKER_04

Three and a half grams or one eighth in a black glass jar. Average price $55 to $60. This haul here comes from our good friends at Happy Days Dispensary in Farmingdale, New York. Are you ready for the roll? Definitely ready for the roll. Let's do it. All right.

SPEAKER_03

Two huge nugs surrounded by smaller nugs. And as far as uh if it was enough for both rolls, definitely enough for both rolls. With enough left over for one, maybe two more. How did it look?

SPEAKER_04

Well, very impressive. Large, supple, and very moist, mustard-colored trichome covered nugs, dark greens on the inside when you broke them with orange hairs, muted pine notes, very musty diesel. Very soft out of the jar. Very impressed. I gotta agree. I gotta concur.

SPEAKER_03

It was so soft. It was the softest wonder bread. And it's it was also super fluffy when broken up and rolled.

SPEAKER_04

Definitely. Something different and interesting. Ready for the smoke? Ready for the smoke. Let's do it. Let's do it. And that cough was kind of ironic because I've uh this is uh maybe my third experience with a bansy, and even the first pull had that similar weird smoothness, you know, and it's not I describe it as weird because it's not actually indicative of any other bud I've ever smoked from any other cultivar. But they tend to have like a smooth top end to smoke, but dense, you know, so it still makes you cough.

SPEAKER_03

The turp profile is not as strong as the smell, right? But it's there, you're tasting it, and it it kind of gives it also almost like a little minty kind of touch.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah, I feel that. You feel it?

SPEAKER_03

Like a menthol kind of. Yeah. It's funny, Skip and I are like deep in concentration, like searching for the high over here. It's like no conversation.

SPEAKER_04

Well, honestly, you know, Bansy 1305. For those that do know and don't know, you know, the name kind of proceeds. It has like a it has a big reputation, you know, for like um boutique style, unique weed. Which I can concur, like I said, this is my third try, but in a while. And the first two I was describing a pro as very unique experiences that I will hope to review again because, yeah, very unique.

SPEAKER_03

Gotta say it, that pull gave me like a slight touch of pepper. Like I got the carrier filling there, it's like a slight peppery touch.

SPEAKER_04

And that thing that's that's there is that you get these notes, but these notes like it's it's strange because not one overpowers the other, like it's balanced.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_03

I get the pine, I get the diesel. I don't get the sweet. Are you getting the sweet? But I it's like, and it's right, it's like a 50-50 pine diesel kind of thing going on. Looks like it's a fast burner. I'm already burning right through it. I'm past the third and I'm blowing through that. Starting to feel a little something in my nasal cavity, and uh, you know, like yeah, a little something there, a little fogginess. Feeling a little funky.

SPEAKER_04

And also, you know, a little exciting to try because this uh brand commands pretty up, pretty, I think, at the top end of the the uh eighth. They command upwards of fifty-five to sixty dollars easily. So it's one of the higher end yeah uh brands.

SPEAKER_03

It's interesting because it's supposedly it was a one-man operation and they're originally from Rhode Island, it looks like, which is a little questionable because then what are they doing in New York?

SPEAKER_04

Well, I mean, New York is a huge market. I mean, if you are serious about growing weed anywhere, and I don't have to tell you this, but you already know, you would be totally financially remiss if you do not even put anything or try to put anything in the New York market. Everything gets old here.

SPEAKER_03

So slightly approaching halfway, and yeah, I feel a high coming in.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Uh it's it's an interesting high. It's a fogginess, but not an unfocused fogginess. Like I still feel focused, but just a little foggy. Right. Uh no body effects yet, even though this is in Dika Dominant 7030. So uh I don't have any of that yet. It's interesting how the the combination of pine and diesel creates kind of a menthol effect.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and a smooth one at that. Like a tobacco y menthol thing, almost like a cigarette, a menthol. Like a menthol cigarette almost, but not quite. Not as sharp, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Right. You're just getting like the menthol part, yeah, and not the nicotine part.

SPEAKER_04

And at an average of almost 30% THC, you know, that says a lot, at least according to Banzi. Right.

SPEAKER_03

Definitely a quick burner. I'm down to about my last third. I'm starting to approach it. I do feel a high coming in. It's a mild high at this point. It is not a uh uh punch in the face high, right? Um, but there's a definitely a high. I feel it on my face, so it's already gotten into like you know the parts of my face that are approaching my ears. Um like I said, it's kind of mild at this point, yeah. But definitely a frontal lobe thing.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I can concur. It's strange. You know, I'm waiting for the body effect, and all I feel it's in my head, like on your face. Right.

SPEAKER_03

That's the only body effect I feel is on my face. I don't feel anything, shoulders, nothing, nothing anywhere else, which I'm not gonna say is a bad thing necessarily. Right. As far as the effects, I don't feel sleepy. I definitely could see the creative aspect, although I don't feel creative. It's more like a focus that you have, right? So you're foggy but focused. It's a weird combination. You know, the fogginess is confirming the high, but the focus is like, you know, so you're at front of mind.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_03

Uh as far as happy, uh, I don't feel particularly happy. Do you, Skip? Nope. But I don't feel unhappy. I can definitely say that.

SPEAKER_04

You know, it's a mellowness to it, yeah. Yes, definitely a mellowness, but not a euphoria. No, I feel like a little coming down. You know, even my eyelids, I feel getting a little heavy there. Feeling groovy, baby. Yeah, it's that kind of effect.

SPEAKER_02

So it is a mellow, relaxed kind of thing, but not a happy kind of thing. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Relax and mellow could turn happy.

SPEAKER_03

That's true. Not particularly a conversational weed. Uh it's more kind of just uh hang out and chill kind of feeling. Is that what you're getting, Skip?

SPEAKER_04

Especially in the head, yeah. I feel it. Nice rush. Nice.

SPEAKER_03

I feel like mostly in my face, which is kind of funny. So it seems to be settling into like this calm, warm kind of feeling.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Um, approaching towards the end of the day. Uh not sleepy at all. Uh, and but focused. Uh, I don't have a euphoria effect, more like a relaxed feeling, a nice calm feeling frontal lobe. Um, I'm not gonna say it's a strong high. It's not something that's like knocking me to the ground, but it's something that's a present.

SPEAKER_04

How would you describe it, Skip? No, definitely. Yeah, it's smooth, so it's uh it's almost tricky. You know, it's easy to ask yourself, you know, are you high? But then, you know, a millisecond later, whatever moving you make or whatever you're reminded of, yeah. You know, it's it's weird because it's it's not a smack on high, but it's more of an aura, you know. Right.

SPEAKER_03

Like an all-over kind of warmth. Right. It's like a kind of like a cocoon kind of feeling, right? Yeah, yeah. Not a real chatter, though, I gotta say.

SPEAKER_04

I wonder if it's because I'm overthinking it, you know, top shelf stuff. So it's like, you know, one one facet of my ego, I could say. So it's like, mmm, hmm. Trying to grade it on those merits. Like the smoothness. At first, it, you know, you get that coughing thing going, but after you get through that, it's like the rest of smooth sailing.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's right. After the initial coughs, I don't think I've coughed since. It's not very smooth. I think it's like at first it's getting used to the menthol kind of thing, and then yeah, and then it smooths out.

SPEAKER_05

Are you feeling?

SPEAKER_04

Are you feeling but let's just start off like coming from I feel like you're gonna do that?

SPEAKER_03

So I guess this is uh the segue into my just finished segment. And uh yeah, I am just finished. It was a fast burner, I gotta definitely say. Yeah, and it's settled into this very calm, uh relaxed feeling, a little fogginess, but focused fogginess. I'm gonna reiterate that expression that I said before. Uh, I don't have the happy, and I guess I can get creative if I wanted to, but I definitely don't have the sleepy either. As far as the flavors, yes, definitely got the diesel and the pine, which made this interesting combination of like menthol, almost like a menthol cigarette, but not quite like a menthol cigarette, not with not as uh as uh sharp or you know strong. So that was actually kind of pleasant in a weird way. Yeah, I I settled into this uh this mild, foggy, focused high. That's the best way to put it.

SPEAKER_04

That's a great way to put it because that's really what it is. Focused and foggy. But am I gonna say am I smacked?

SPEAKER_03

No, I can't say I'm smacked yet. So let's see where it settles in. Let's see where it settles in for one hour.

SPEAKER_04

Finishing up here at my last third, and yeah, it's um very smooth, easy to smoke because it's very smooth. The smoke doesn't attack you know at all after the initial you know bumps. But after that, it's smooth sailing, very balanced, which uh maybe that's what they're aiming for because it really is really is very balanced in everything the terpenes, the the feel pretty decent.

SPEAKER_03

This is as warm and comfy as Viggs Vapor Rub, right? When you're like all sick.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, without the sweetness, of course, man. It gives you that that kind of like all over aura thing. Interesting. And with that, we'll be back one hour later.

SPEAKER_03

And we're back one hour later. So, Skip, how did it go?

SPEAKER_04

It was a smooth smoke, man. I gotta say. Uh, the uh menthol kind of cigarette thing going kind of became kind of mild or muted and pleasant, and this uh the dense but smooth smoke persisted throughout, so it was very easy to smoke, and uh yeah, man, it created like this aura smoothness, which I kind of still feel like that smooth high one hour later.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, that's excellent. Uh, I can definitely say that I was accurate with my original assessment of focused fogginess. Uh one thing I also will say is uh serious consistency here. Uh I really felt the same way from when I finished to right now when I'm talking to you. Uh it lasted the entire hour. I did not feel a drop off. Uh I'm not gonna say I'm smacked, but I am definitely high. It's definitely a frontal lobe, facial kind of thing. But uh it has been the same feeling from beginning to this point. And I find that very interesting. Uh for the first, I would say for the first 20 minutes or so, it was just a consistent thing. Um, and like I said, focused fogginess. Uh, but then it kind of started to settle in in the second half of the hour into something conversational. So it became, I guess when you start stop thinking about how it feels and just start getting on with it, yeah. And it became conversational, and that was kind of cool. I thought it was cool because you know, I would forget about being high, and then once I say, hey, wait, it's still there, my face still feels it.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So it was very comfortable. Uh sleepy, no, creative. Yeah, you could definitely be creative with this. Uh, and I have to agree with Skip what he said earlier, that it's not a happy thing, it's more like a relaxed, calm, just kind of safe feeling. You know, it's like, right? Yeah. It's that's that's kind of more what I feel about that. And yeah, I think it's I definitely think it was a good experience, though.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So I think we're ready for our smack a meter. Yeah, we're ready. Let's do it. Let's do it. Definitely feeling this. This is alright. This is actually all right, and definitely feeling this. This is alright. This is actually all right. Okay, so we're back with the smack a meter.

SPEAKER_04

How'd it go, skid? Hey man, I gotta say, I mean, one hour later, and it still feels like when I put the blunt down, still that lateral high. And another tidbit that we didn't mention, that this was after we finished smoking, this was virtual, basically over dinner, you know. So even that, you know, put it that in the mix, and I thought that would kind of take away from the high. It didn't get in the way of enjoying the dinner at all. But once I finished, the high came back. And I'm flying right now. One hour later, over dinner. For that, I gotta say, maybe I'm gonna give it close to an eight or maybe an eight. It was unexpected. One hour later, still high.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, Skip. Well, you know, I like to do the whole rundown when I do my uh smack meter. So let's get started. Uh, when it opened up, I mean, I have to say, it was like I said earlier, it was soft as wonder bread and super fluffy when broken up. It was fantastic. Uh slight turbile. We got the piney, we got the diesel. We did not get the sweet. I mean, I guess if you put piney and diesel together, it became like a menthol.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, musty menthol kind of thing.

SPEAKER_03

Um, I guess you can argue that's a sweet. Kinda.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

It was very beautiful looking marijuana. Um, very supple. Uh, you know, definitely keep using those boost packs, Bandzi. Yeah. Because that definitely worked very nicely for you. Yeah. Uh, you know, broke big, had enough for more than what we needed. Uh, I liked the the blacked-out bottle, nice touch. Yeah. Just in case, just in case light affects it anyway. We can knock that out the box. The smoking experience was very pleasant. Uh, after the initial coughing session, when you kind of got used to the menthol sensation, then it became a smooth smoke all the way. Uh, it was pine and diesel for flavor. The high was uh very, very comfortable high. It was like putting on, you know, your favorite slippers. Nice and warm feeling. Uh cocoon type feel. Uh was I smacked? No, I'm not gonna say I was smacked, but it was a nice, comfortable, pleasant uh high. It turned conversational in the end, so that means that it's kind of versatile.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, so with that in mind, I guess it's time for the rundown. Menthal, fresh taste, very, very wonderful high, and I mean beautiful, beautiful marijuana. Touch, feel, taste, but not smacked level, just very comfortable, focused fogginess. And for that, I'm going to give it a 7.9. That's fair.
