The Jack Herrera strain is an 80-20 sativa dominant strain that is a mix of a hazy hybrid with Northern Lights and Shiva Skunk. The terpse arts are pinaline, caryophylline, and pinene. The effects are focused, energetic, and creative. Flavors are piney, woody, and earthy. As far as THC content, our friends at Leafly say 18%. Our friends at Allbuds say 15 to 24%. And our friends at Back Home Cannabis Company say 28.5% THC.

I concur with you, Skip. Very strong pine. Definitely on the exhale. Very strong pine. Uh am I getting the woody? Not really. Am I getting the earthy? Not really. How about you? Woody, earthy? Just pine and skunk, right? Yeah, me too. Yeah. Very strong and dry. Yes, I I also agree with Skip on that one. It's a dry uh pull. Very dry pull. Even though it's supple, it's still a dry pull. Wow, that's definitely not going for smooth, huh? Yeah.

I feel like if my sinuses got cleared or something, I don't know. That's pretty weird. Hey.

Okay. That's a good sign. I gotta say, I'm not getting any of this earthy and woody. It's pine and skunk. Yeah, straight up. This company also seems to have, for someone who's not a full-time cannabis grower, they seem to have a very large selection.

So you know what that means. That means that soil is going to be rich because of the flooding.

Right. And that's the point that they make on their website that is, you know, they constantly work to enrich it, which is not hard to do because of the new water that's always coming in.

Starting to feel a little bit of a spaciness in my uh frontal lobe. Uh, you know, my eyeballs are feeling it, back of my eyeballs. Uh like I said, my sinus is really cleared up. That was like the first thing. Yeah. As of right now, effects. How are we feeling, focused, Skip? Not more than usual, no. Yeah, not myself. Energetic? Not yet. And then, of course, the one that always gives us like what creative. Yeah. Well, I don't know. Skip and I feel like if you're gonna be creative, you're gonna be creative whether you're high or not. Yeah, regardless, you know. And if you're high and a weed says creative, you can just as easily sit there and veg.

Right. I mean, creative is more at least it's an energy. It's not an actual, you know, it's an energy.

I mean, I've had experiences, you know, uh making content, music, all kinds of uh artistic endeavors, and I've done, you know, I've dabbled in both without and with THC at times. And the mine is a tricky thing, you know. For us artists, sometimes you think an enhancement will actually help, you know. And there that goes, you know, that's another rabbit hole in itself. There. Did you feel like if it was an enhancement? In the beginning, yes. In the beginning, absolutely. I I even advocated it, you know. Influenced by THC was a big moniker in my time. But as time went by, I realized that, like you said, in the end, it was me. You know, it wasn't the enhancement, it was me. I'm the enhancement. I should be the enhancement. Right.

You're the creator, right? You just feel good doing it while you're high.

Absolutely. And that's where the focus should be, you know. But again, that comes with experience and time.

And just compare it to the other effects, right? Like focused, you know, you do feel that sometimes. Like you'll start getting zoning into things when you get high. That's focused. Energetic, yeah. That's like when you were a little tired and now you smoked, and now you're ready to like go out again. And oh, let's go do this and all that. That's energetic, right? But I feel like creating something. That doesn't happen to me when I get high. That you know, like that I wasn't create feeling the creativeness before it, and then all of a sudden it just sprung in my head because I smoked some weed. Right, right. That's never happened to me. I'm sorry.

I don't know. I could be completely wrong, right? No, and it's it's it's a good notion because it can, it's a strong counter to the popular notion that you know it's okay to have enhancements, which it is okay, but really we're getting to the basis of what the energy of creativity is.

So hitting halfway, and I will say this, it's definitely a conversational marijuana, because we're yapping away right here in front of your face. Yeah, you know, feeling a little lightheadedness, my nasal cat, it's like my nose is numb. Do you feel that? Not really. I'm like, I could breathe to like the end of the day, and my nose is numb. It's so weird. Yeah, but it's clear, definitely. And yeah, uh feeling good. Um, not smacked, but I can definitely feel a high coming in. Yeah, about halfway at this point. Um, it's definitely not a nice taster. You know, like it's not one of those that you get nowadays that tastes like bubblegum and all pretty and fruity. Uh, this definitely is a choker. Yeah, it's a bit harsh. It's very acrid, the pull.

And I don't want to speculate. I mean, for those in the know, the first thing, the first red flag will be, oh, the curing process, you know, too short, too long, take your pick, whatever.

I doubt it though, because the trichomes are gold. Yeah, and that's usually that's the sweet spot.

Right. That's a good, yeah. Okay.

So, yeah. I doubt that that's fair. That's fair. Right. So I think they were, they were, you know, they were in the right mind to pull at that moment. Ideally, when you're when you're curing, you're looking for you know, gold to champagne colored tricomes.

And this, yes, it has it in spades. You know, it looks like that.

Unless it's like a specialty that, you know, the for example, some of these strains that are coming out now, that the tricones are coloring it blue, or you know, weird bluish color tricones. I've seen that already at this time, yeah. Um, so but you would see that hue change still too early when it's white. And we saw that in the strain. Yeah, there weren't many, but it was there, you know, they were hiding out if you looked for them.

But you know, if you were with a flashlight, hey you, you found it, you know. So um, but yeah, that's where it's at.

How you feeling, Skip? Hey, you know, this is not bad. The uh the harshness has subsided a bit in this and is giving way to a still harsh, but I guess maybe I'm getting used to it. But the smoke is decent and the uh conversation has a little magnetism there.

I will say this, it feels like the the pininess receded, and I guess this is where the woody, earthy combo is kind of in there, because I can see that now. Yeah. But and the pininess kind of moved back, the skunk too kind of moved back. Those notes receded, and the ascendant notes now are are woody and earthy. Good point.

I was reading something that that uh there's actually a name of what you just described. Undertones. Yeah, I was reading some of that today.

What did they say about this undertone?

The notes that you like we were uh discussing on other podcasts, which is all related, about the smell versus taste, you know, and and sometimes you smell a certain thing in a in a herb that you don't necessarily taste, and vice versa. So the explanation of that is the tones, the the tones that is on the top, and then the undertone that's giving that supporting thing. So here it began with a very strong pine overtone. Pine and skunk, yeah. And now it's settling in, you know, and which also gives into the complexity of the notes.

Right. And also remember that the terpenes don't give flavor, the terpenes give aroma, bouquet, you know, what you're smelling, what you're like feeling when you're exhaling. What gives flavor to your cannabis is the flavonoids, if I'm right.

So it can also be that difference, you know, that the the terps are one thing, but the flavonoids are another. Which could be affected by the terps. Right, right. That's right.

And in most cases, they are.

But usually the best herbs use a combination of the THC, terp, and flavonoid. That entourage effect between the three is what sets off what gets you high.

And you know, sometimes that's why you have really high THC content marijuana, and all they do is give you a headache because they their terp and flavonoid balance is off. So all it has is THC, you know, and that's when it's like a head rushy high that's you know has the chance to give you a headache. Also can happen when it's not cured. It's terrible, terrible when it's not cured, right? Much respect to all the growers, by the way, especially home growers. Wow, yeah. Because I have a friend, I have friends that do that, and I gotta say, that's it's not easy for the layman to do it. But you know, once you start to develop the knowledge, I've I've I know people that have done that too. Started from nothing, now they got a green thumb. And I know people that have been doing it for decades, and yeah, it's it's not it's not for the faint of heart, that's for sure.

Yeah, it's definitely labor. Could be of love sometime as well. This is you know something that you put a lot of time and effort in, especially those that don't sell, you know, that do it just for themselves. If you could do it for yourself, Skip, one plant, what would it be? You mean one strain? Yes. Haze. Which one? Anything strong. Which for haze, that's not hard to find, you know. Anything. There's a few that I would go with.

Blue cheese. Oh, yeah. I love blue cheese. That's a great one. If I could get a hold of Nick DeBruiser seeds, that would be amazing. Oh yeah, right. That would be cool. And for me specifically, that would probably be that uptown haze that I used to get when I was a teenager. That knockout haze, that was really good stuff. Really, really good stuff. And it was like beige, it was like a beigeish brownish, you know, green, and it was really good. You could never get ounces off the freaking primos, man. They would always dead you on the ounce. Yo, let me get an ounce. Nah, nah, only the only dives, bro. Only dimes. Those primos were killing us in the market. But uh, yeah. That's how it went down in the in the uptown in those early out days.

And when it comes to growing, even you know, even though I said Hayes, that's ingest because there's a lot. Some of these strains are not simple, and they're not for the inexperienced. And there are some that, you know, could take abuse and all kinds of mishandling and still be you know, grow effective buds. So that's all part of what you gotta take into consideration. You know, that's pretty good. I thought, you know, it's settling into a nice little groove where it's nice. Conversational is okay.

Uh, but but I'm not saying I'm not gonna sit here and say I'm not high. Like I am high and I'm feeling it. Yeah, definitely. And it feels good. Um it's uh let's see, let's go back to the effects. Focused, yeah, energetic. Not much, no creative. Well, you know how we feel about that one, mate. So, yeah, it's just more talkative, uh a little fogginess. Um, that's one that I can definitely say. Uh slight euphoria. You feel that?

I feel like a slight euphoria. Um, I'm trying to think of all the effect adjectives out there. Relaxed?

Yeah, that one's not really in there. Happy. That's one that they say all the time. Happy. Oh, euphoric a bit. Little euphoria, giggly, my favorite. Man, I haven't found a get a good giggly weed in a long time. Uh, let's see. I'm looking through all the energized. Do you feel energized? Not really, no. No. Tingly. No, no, hungry. No, sleepy, no. Okay, we said those. Euphoric, we said that one. All right, that's pretty much all the effects that they usually say. So let's let's try to think of what this does make us feel like. Well, I have I feel chatty. That should be an effect. Yeah, that should be an effect. Chatty. Because some weeds you don't want to talk to anybody, right? Some weeds you can't shut up. Like nobody could shut you up.

So this, yeah, this could be chatty. I would definitely say chatty. Let's see. It would, it definitely has body effects. Like my ears feel strange.

Um, my face is not as numb as it normally is, but I do feel it kind of like in my in my middle lobe area. So there's something there. As far as body effects, um, do you feel any body effects? No. Yeah, I don't either. I feel just like I felt when I started this podcast. There's like no difference there. Um, but yeah, I don't know. Anything you can add to that, Skip?

I mean, it it's a high. It's um like a I don't want to say even normal. I'm trying to label it. Um, it's a general high. It's like a general high.

Yeah, it's the best way to put it. It's it's kind of it got a little bit of an old school feel to it. It's like those that those NYX, you know, those nickel bags that you used to get, and that like you'd be like really high for like the afternoon and evening, you'd be like feeling great, you know what I'm saying? But you you didn't think that it would um extend into like the night, you know. You like, okay, we better have something else on the ready. Yeah, you know, it feels like that kind of thing. Yeah, like you know you're gonna smoke another one later.

Yeah, not too strong, but the high is prominent, and it's just general, that's why it's hard to place because it's not like your head or anything. No, it's like a bubble.

Yeah, very hard to quantify and to place. So, but yeah, it's but it's not unpleasant, it's great. I'm having a good time, right? Yeah, I feel good working on it and seeing what's next.

Pretty quick burner there, and yeah, I still have the general high, uh, the high bubble. Uh, it's not a deep high, but it's present, which is not a bad thing. Let's see how that goes into the hour.

Well, I'm still here, and I will say that towards the end it's ascending, of course, you know, but usually when you hit the end of something, it starts to ascend a little because that coal is really close. But as far as notes, no more piny, no more skunky. I'm like trying to decide is if it's earthy or woody.

It's the same. It could be the same. But it has, yeah.

That is like a darkness, a little more earthy between the two than woody at this point when it was down to its last three quarter, it was more woody. But now it's earthy. And with that, good smoke to the end. Good experience.

One last choke there. And I think I'm rolling into my just finished segment. Hold on, let me cough that out. So yeah, just finished. Feeling good. It ascended a little more. Now I'm really feeling it in my face. And it's like the skip said, it's a general high. One of those, like I said, old school when you got a Nick. And uh, you know, it was like it was some type of haze. Didn't know what kind, but it was some type of it's haze.

And so you smoked it, and you got like this kind of high. And it was a good high, a good afternoon, evening high. Well, I can honestly say that there's not much of a taper. Uh feel pretty close to how I felt and the beginning of the hour. So uh yeah, pretty good. I'm not gonna say that I'm smacked or anything like that. It's just a good high, a nice high. Uh, you know, very, very social, very conversational. Like that's the best way to put it. I mean, I don't know.

Have you seen much of a change over the hour, Skip? Not much. Uh the uh the high did taper, but it's still there, and the remnants are even stronger. So, yeah, for what it was and what it is, yeah.

Right, it it just seems like it it was it's pretty consistent, yeah. Yeah, right. Um, but yeah, but you're not gonna be uh couch locked or uh you know you know, drooling or anything like that.

Skip, final thoughts. Yeah, well, like I was alluding to before, it's uh general high, uh, more of in a bubble, not something that you cannot handle, which a lot of us do like, you know, big highs. This one is not a big high, it's a consistent high, a general, maybe an old school feel high. Um, but the point I was making before that for its totality, meaning the price point, uh, and for the availability, it is what it is, and it does what it does. This I can see perhaps in a better setting amongst uh a group of people, a couple of heads that just want a quick smoke before going into a club or something like that. This will do it. This will fit the bill. So it's not the strongest horse in the floor in the barn, but it'll get the job done. And for that, I'll give it a seven flat.

Okay, seven flat. It felt like you almost forgot to give it a rating. Well, yeah, I I honestly, yeah. Well, maybe a little higher than you think. All right, right. Okay, well, um, you know, I gotta agree with Skip in a lot of his points. Uh, but let's do the rundown. Okay. Uh so opened it up. Really piny, really skunky smell, right out the gate. Always love that. That's always encouraging. Uh the buds looked okay, you know. Uh they were medium-sized buds and they were supple, but you know, like Skip said, it was like, you know, the week before Unsupple, right?

And, you know, it looked pretty okay. It rolled well. Um, you know, the smoke, first half tasted pine and skunk. Second half was wood and earth, which was pretty interesting and fun. Um, it was an accurate smoke. Okay, that's the best way to put it. It was a choker, it was tough. Okay, it was an accurate smoke. Um, not for the inexperienced. Uh, you know, left feeling with a general high, a foggy high, uh, somebody in there, facial, you know, numbness and that kind of stuff, but very indeterminate. Okay, nothing um that we can pin our finger on. In fact, the effects, we didn't agree with any of them. Right. So that just goes to show you where we were with this product. And so, with all that, where you know, it's it's something that is like uh really good for on the go, all right? Something very recognizable, and you can grab quickly and say, Yeah, this will get us a little high, but won't slow us down. This is perfect for that. And for that, I'm going to give it a 7.1.
