Back home cannabis companies out of High Falls, New York, who, according to their website, doubles as a fresh food farm, which utilizes organic growing methods with emphasis on soil health. Farmers, y'all.

Definitely. As far as the strain, Northern Lights is one of the most popular strains of the past 50 years. And it comes, it's an almost pure indica strain across between Afghani and Thailand races. The terps are Mersine, caryophylline, and lemonine. The effects are sleepy, relaxed, and hungry. The flavors are pine, earthy, and woody. And as far as THC content, Leafly says 18%. All butt says 16 to 21%. And Back Home Cannabis Company says 30.12% THC.

Well, in the roll, it broke about even when we broke it up. Um, and as far as what was left over, there was just about a little bit left over, maybe enough for one more. How did it look, Skip?

Small to big buds, pale greens with trichomes that give off an array of hues from yellow to purple. Supple outside, a little crunchy inside. No notes or undertones to speak of.

That's right. Very, very mild. It was like maybe tops, a touch of diesel and pine. Up close. Up close. That's right. I think we're ready for the smoke, Skip. We're ready. Let's do it. But it's very mild.

A little bit of earthiness, too. Yeah, so it's it's pretty accurate in that so far. No woody yet. Let's light it. Alright, so far. Um hard to say what it tastes like.

Yeah. Smoke is decent, but undeterminate taste, you know. No, no notes.

No real notes. There's a little bit of woody on the exhale, yeah, and a tiny bit of piney on the inhale, but that's really all it is. It's burning pretty quickly. Wow, I'm already down to the third, first third. Yeah, that spiciness hits the back of the throat there. It does have a touch of spice in it. Okay, so. Yeah, wow, this one's burning really fast. I can't find the note. Yeah. But I can't. So this uh back home cannabis company package, which I think it's pretty cool. They they put their different strains in different colors. And this one is a lavender.

Really nice. Um, we're on the fence. We don't know if we like or hate Mylar bags at this point. Um, but you know, it's um it's nice how they keep them color-coded. Color scheme. Very attractive, you know. It goes to it goes to the question, you know, some of these companies, do they put more thought in their brand or their weed?

Well, and and for this market, that is the question, because no matter how fancy your package looks, most dispensaries in New York City, you don't really even see it, you know, until you ask for it. And of course, there are sample packs or even in the uh museum-like displays that most New York City dispensaries have. But the star of the show, the bud. Some have like some have these stations where certain buds are under a little microscope eye and you can look at it and things of that nature. But you know, that gives more of like a museum effect. Most people, you know, they're not gonna the other problem.

Is this is like, yeah, you can give me this one that looks really nice, and I can put it here so people could look at it. But am I absolutely 100% positive that that's gonna be the same thing that's inside that package? Right. Because a lot of times you can open the package and be like, that's not that doesn't look like the one that I saw in the store. It happens, all right. Approaching the halfway mark, and I am kind of feeling a little something. Spider senses are tingling, but it's not strong. Right. As far as what the high feels like, um again, also indeterminate. I'm not really sure what it feels like. Um, just waiting to see what happens.

The silence comes like from smoking and trying to find something in the smoke to hang on to, you know, like it's not a talker because uh, like previously we tried another one of their strains and we couldn't shut up. Yeah. Uh it was just in spite of ourselves, we're not really talkative people. This one, yeah, no real talkative uh element to it.

You know, or at least something that'll jump out and become, you know, a subject matter, you know. But here is kind of devoid of that.

I'm feeling it a little bit in my temples, a little opening my upper jaw, right? So, like when I squeeze my jaw, I could feel it. As far as the physicality, also feeling it in the eyeballs, running down the effects. Sleepy. Do you feel sleepy, Skip? No, neither do I. Relaxed? A little bit, yeah. Okay, I can give it that too. Hungry.

No, you're already hungry. Yeah, all right.

So, um, yeah, I'm not hungry, and I ate earlier, so it's I guess that kind of will kill that too. It's getting a little pinier. Yeah, yeah. As we get uh deeper into the fire, uh into the cherry. Um, and yeah, the exhale has a little bit of that earthy, no woody. Oh no, sorry, woody, no earthy, which is funny because it had earthy earlier. Um yeah, it's uh resinous too. It's funny. This one seems to me like I'm getting uh more of a body thing going on. Okay, yeah. I'm getting body feels, you know, like so my face is feeling it, my ears are feeling it, my jaw is feeling it, you know. I'm I'm my body feels a little, you know, relaxed, like you said. I'm not feeling any pain. Um, but head-wise, yeah like I feel a fogginess, yeah. You know, I feel a lightheadedness, I feel something like a little pins and needles effect going on in my lobes, right? But do you feel anything past that? No, no, no, yeah, like it's just like a pins and needles kind of thing going on in the brain right now. I don't know. I'm actually approaching my last third, so yeah, this is also a quick burner. Yeah, this is definitely not a talker, Lord have mercy. We're like quiet as mice in here. Okay, I said we're not that talkative, but man, we're not this quiet either. Right. So it's like definitely affecting us in some way.

It's almost like if you're very introspective, you know, you're I'm looking for something to hang on to expand on, and there's not much there, not much, no flavor, not much, you know, taste.

As far as aesthetics, I gotta concur with Skip, but one thing I will say is I feel like I'm getting higher as it goes on. Oh, okay. Do you are you getting that last cough there kind of right? Like it's kind of kicking in towards the end.

So you really gotta smoke the whole thing to start feeling the feels, you know. It's not gonna hit you in the beginning. Because the first third, I wasn't really feeling anything. Right. And the second third, I was feeling like my spider senses were tingling, kind of, but kind of that's it, you know. And now I'm like, wow, oh wow, that yeah, there's a high there. Like I'm starting to see it and feel it.

And it could be, I mean, to the THC values, which are not not big at all. I mean, in the lower end, we're looking at about 18%, and you know, upwards to 30% according to Bank Back Home. But you know how those numbers can be. I I would venture to say maybe at the lower side of that.

Given that latter effect. The other thing that's interesting is that the last third is actually burning slower than the first two thirds. Are you noticing that? Yeah, yeah. It must be getting sharper and the poles are getting uh a little tighter.

I wonder if that is, I mean, I remember having northern lights in the past, but I can't. The mine library is not it's not uploading that information as far as you know, um familiarity of taste or texture. No, I don't really recall much. My reference point is kind of shot here, but when was the last time you tried it? I I can't even remember, but you know, there's some that you remember as time, you know, and this one I don't know. I don't have anything to compare this to. You know, a smooth, a smooth smoke with a with a touch of that spice, that karyophylling is there. Uh, but no fruitiness, none of that. Uh earthiness. But an uh that is also a little strange because it at times is elusive, it's not a constant earthiness. I concur.

For me, it's piny in the inhale, woody in the exhale, and then there's like a kind of earthy thing just kind of hovering around the whole thing. Alright, looking back at the effects, we're back at it. Sleepy? No, no, relaxed? You said yeah. Yeah, hungry? Well, you're already hungry, I'm not. So that's a 50-50. And yeah. I gotta say, the high is coming on strong towards the end. I am getting like high, high at this point. At first, I was like, this isn't doing anything. Wow, that's uh pretty surprising second half there. Uh and yeah, still pulling. Are you feeling that, Skip? Like higher, yeah. Like it's getting you're getting higher, right? In this really quick amount of time where before it was like nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing. Hi, right? Like, what a strange smoking experience. We would love to hear from you, mates. Yeah, you know, maybe for you it hit differently. It was better. Maybe you got a better batch. And you know, maybe you were wrong and we need to revisit it, right? Kind of the same experience. I saw this last third, and I'm like, you know what? This is easy. Let me just wipe it out here with two deep pulls. And I took those deep pulls and looked at it, and it hasn't even moved. Exactly.

Like the first two thirds was like, wow, this is burning quickly. Holy snap, this is going fast. And now it's like, what the hell? Yeah. This is a very interesting smoking experience. You could hear it from my voice change. It's you know, I'm laughing at the dichotomy between I think our last show and this show, where our last show was finished, shut up. Yeah, yeah. And this one, it's like, I'm searching for the words. Yeah, it happens, right? It takes all kinds, it takes all buds. Let's see if I can finish this thing. I feel like the end of the Rocky movie where he has to punch the guy like six times, you know. And then that crescent, then like you gotta do it six times, then you gotta punch the guy six times before he falls. Yeah.

Wow, and I finally pull it out. Just finished. Interesting high, old school feel. Other than that, can't describe it much. The effects don't really describe it aside from the relaxed portion. And even that doesn't explain it completely. It's just an expansiveness in the brain, in the cavity. Um now my nose is numb. Alright. I still have the jaw thing going on. I can tighten my jaw, I can feel it. And yeah. Other than that, I'm pretty high. I don't think I hit smacked level. But it is ascending, so I don't know how far it'll go. And you know, we're just gonna see how it goes. That's where I'm at. Am I one hour later?

So yeah, I think I'll see you guys in an hour. Like mine, definitely. It's an old school high and expensive, but it's uh with no direction, so it's like a bubble. Uh it's it's nice, it's low-key. And uh let's see if it it'll go uh where it'll maintain the whole hour. Let's see how it goes.

You know, it was pretty good. Uh it was, I gotta say, it's like an indeterminate kind of old school feel, you know, like when you get that uh that haze that you don't know what it is really, but you know, it's haze and it's gets you high and you feel great. It was kind of like that high. Uh, one of the the hallmarks that I can honestly say was that I kind of got lost in what I was doing, and that was cool. And you know, other than that, I felt a taper at some point in the hour, but uh it was gentle, it was a gentle taper. And right now I'm kind of in the after effects, and they're pretty cool. It's like a residual high, but I'm definitely not at the height that I was before. And yeah, it felt nice.

What do you think, Skip? Well, like-minded, yeah. While it was going on, the high was there. It wasn't a big high, it was like more of an old school high. And as the hour progressed, it tapered precipitously almost at the end of the hour, but the residual effects are still there. So not all is lost. Right.

It's like a residual high in there, right? Yeah, just not like the height part, but it's still there. And it sounds like we're ready for the smack ometer. We're ready. Let's do it. Let's do it. All right, we're back with the smack ometer. So, skip, final thoughts. Decent smoke, but uh low grade high. And even though everything has its place, this has its place as well. But today it's not where I'd like to be. And for that, I'll give it a seven. Okay.

Um, okay, let's run it down. So uh the open the package, looks pretty good. It was like frosty, some layer of trichomes, pervades in there, light greens, dark greens, a little bit of purple and orange hairs, right? One thing that we noticed right away, almost no turp profile. Uh, I think it was like, I think we said earlier it was like a touch of pine and diesel.

Um, as far as the smoke, same thing. It was very light on the turp profile. It was a very easy smoke, not a not a big choker. Uh, very light on the turp profile, like I said before. Um, and you know, at first and second, third, you were wondering where the high was, but then it came very strong towards the end. And then you were like, wow, I'm really high. And that high lasted, I can solidly safe through the first half hour. Then it tapered off into something more uh indeterminate and just like an old school kind of, you know, in those those uh haze highs that you used to get back in the day. And um that's where I am still now. So that part is impressive, you know. Okay, maybe I'm not at the height that I was before, but at least it's it has some length if it's not gonna be as high.

And so yeah, I'm not super high, but I'm not super disappointed. And so with that, I'm going to give it a 7.3. Okay. That's fair. And I think I think we're we were like kind of similar. Yeah. You know, it was kind of and not I'm not gonna say it was a little better than middle of the road, right? But you know, it wasn't like you know, thrilling. Yeah. That it was. Okay. I think we I think we're in agreement.
