Smoking session review of the Train Wreck cannabis strain released by Back Home Cannabis Company.

SPEAKER_01

Somebody wants somebody in the house. Tony into England Highland. With your house. And we're back with Eaglen Highland. Today we are reviewing Train Wreck by Back Home Cannabis Company.

SPEAKER_00

Back Home Cannabis, a 75-acre farm in High Falls, New York. They also grow vegetables, herbs, flowers, and mushrooms, a real farm, y'all. Family-owned. They support regener regenerative, oh my lord, growing methods.

SPEAKER_01

Train Wreck, an 80-20 sativa dominant varietal cross between Mexican and Thai sativas, and an in Afghanistan Indica. Top terps are mersine, pinine, and lemonine. Top effects are euphoric, uplifted, and creative. Top flavors are pine, earthy, and woody. THC values are as follows: 17% according to Leafly, 18% according to Allbud, and a hefty 22.5% according to Back Home Cannabis Company.

SPEAKER_00

And just to add an addenedum to that 22.5% that Back Home Cannabis Company claims, we looked up the COA, and the COA actually says that it has 19.63% THC. So yeah, there's a discrepancy there. Back home cannabis. Uh-oh. As far as where we got this package, it came in a 3.5 ounce guava pink bag, Mylar. Retail's anywhere between $30 and $35. We got this one in Turk Brothers in Astoria Boulevard. It's right on Dipmars. Make sure to pay them a visit, folks. Definitely. And I think we're ready to roll it.

SPEAKER_01

We're ready. Let's do it.

SPEAKER_00

We're back with the roll. How did it go, Skip?

SPEAKER_01

It broke a little small, but it looks like it's due to the dryness, which requires more bud because as you put pressure on it, it kind of turns to dust.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. As far as the look, light greens, dark greens, brown hairs, really dark greens, by the way. Tricones were shining very bright. It had three to medium to large size nugs. And like Skiff said right before, it's very slightly crunchy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Turfs are very strong. Pine and earth and wood, just like they said. It almost had an almost old school poudé haze kind of thing going on. Yeah. The smell, which is not a bad thing. Yeah. And I think we're ready to smoke it and find out. What do you think, Skip? We're ready. Let's do it. First impression. Smell it. I can smell the same smells, you know? That piney, earthy, woody kind of thing. That poodet haze kind of thing. First pull. I'm getting the earthy and the woody. And a little bit of sweet. Are you getting any pine? No. Yeah. Yeah, I'm not getting any pine either. Okay. Well, let's see what happens when we smoke it. Very light, thin smoke. Yeah, I'm getting like the earthy woodiness kind of thing. A slight touch of pine. I didn't get the spicy. I didn't get it. Was it in the exhale? What I got was like a touch of popcorn in the beginning, but that's gone already. So back home cannabis is um one of the more, I guess, budget brands. And they have a nice selection. Um, and it's funny because uh use all of their strains are what are considered the old school kind of legacy strains. Yeah, they do like Maui Wowie and Train Wreck and you know, Northern Lights. They do like all these old school strains. And uh, you know, I wonder if that's like their shtick. You know, they're saying we're going, I guess back home, right? Back home, you had these strains. And you know, we also say that they are a family farm, High Falls, New York. Um, and it looks like they do not do their packaging. Their packaging is a company called Canaline. Canaline. So, well, and one thing that's encouraging is they didn't say distributing or anything, they said packaging, which means that it looks like this marijuana does come from the back home farm. It's a pleasant pull, right? It's like almost nothing, like when you're taking pulls in, right? Yeah, very, very light the smoke. I remember when I first tried the strain, train wreck, and it was like New York was starting. This was, of course, before it was legalized, and New York was starting to get like this rush of all these new strains that were coming from the West Coast. Yeah. And train wreck was kind of one of them. It was a bunch of these uh strains, and it was like a good time to be a pothead because you were just trying all this new stuff, and uh train wreck was one of the good ones, if I recall correctly. It's almost like nothing to pull, it's weird. This one, yeah. It's like no pressure. I'm like wondering if I have a hole in the J, and I'm like looking for a hole because I'm like, that's just really thin. That sound, but it'll be train wreck usually is like a rush. So I'm in the first third, uh not quite yet, but approaching it, and I feel the spider senses tingling, especially after that cough. Wow, I just like jacked it up 15%. So yeah, I'm feeling something kind of decent there. I'm trying to recall if it feels like old train wreck. How you feeling, Skip? That is a slight high there, you know, it's like the bubble, bubble high. Yeah, it's that old bubble. Bubble. Yeah, that was a rush of those strains. Train wreck and headband and blue cheese and jelly bean. Remember Jilly Bean? Yeah, I haven't seen that in any of the dispensaries. Dispensaries, I have seen blue cheese. Yeah, uh, I think I only saw it in a pre-roll pack. You know, we don't like those, so I didn't mess with it. Uh, we've definitely seen Train Wreck. Uh, I don't see Jilly Bean anymore. No. Uh Headband. Actually, yes, we have seen it. I think we reviewed a headband from another company. Um not too long ago, right? Am I right, Steve?

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Wow, I'm still like at my first third. This is burning slow. All right, so we hit the third, so let's look at the effects. Euphoric. Are we feeling euphoric? Uplift, creative, which is one I never understood. It's funny because I'm not really feeling any of those things specifically, right? But I do feel a high. It's just like what you said earlier, like a bubble. The bubble. The bubble. Yes, that's the way to say it. The bubble.

SPEAKER_01

That's kind of how it feels. Budget brand. And only, I mean, not the way the presentation never looks like that. And this is not the first back home cannabis. They're all pretty impressive when it comes to presentation. Uh the uh notes sometimes are prevalent, not as much. So I'm not sure if there's a focus on that. And it's usually pretty decent, you know, overall, because again, we've reviewed quite a few back home cannabis. Uh it depends again, also where you get them. Some will have more dryness than others. Uh, these are mylar bags, so they don't have uh a moisture system, moisture control, things of that nature, as most mylar bags don't have. But um, the date is within the parameters of freshness.

SPEAKER_00

In fact, it's according to the date, it's actually pretty fresh, like it's very recent, you know, less than three months that it's been it was packaged. So it's a question of is it the strain? Because sometimes the strain can be a little crunchy, good, right? You know, generally is it the storing method? And you know, usually back home stuff, we don't we weren't, you know, they've been pretty consistent.

SPEAKER_01

Consistent, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And that's why I want to kind of give them the benefit of the doubt, because I think this is the first one that we tr actually tried that was kind of crispy, right? Like we usually I remember one that we thought was gonna be crispy because we felt like outside the bag, and we're like, yeah, that kind of sounds a little crunchy there, right? And but when we opened it, it wasn't, and we were like, oh, yeah, okay. And this is kind of like, I guess, you know, the opposite. We we looked at the bag, we're like, oh, this seems like really fresh. Then when we opened it, it was a little crispy. Okay, so I passed the third, and yeah, I'm feeling a high coming in. Um, I don't have any specifics as far as effects, and I never know what creative is anyway. But um, yeah, I just I don't feel particularly euphoric or uplifted, which is funny because lately a lot of strains have been having uplifted. You notice that? Yeah, yeah, I feel uplifted. I feel uplifted, but this one, no, no, I'm not getting that. Um, but I am high, it and it's like Skip said, it's like the old school bubble. So, you know that feeling, you know, that you were just like generally high, but it was a good one, and you know, you're just hanging around doing stuff. It's kind of that feeling. Now, the question is, is it a good one, right? So we're working towards that to find out. Do you remember the first time you tried train wreck?

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yes, I remember. And it was at the time a bit overwhelming, but it only because in hindsight I wasn't prepared, you know. I mean, I everybody does the research and I knew it was sativa dominant, everything I like, but I did not expect at the speed that the uh that high was coming in, and usually it has a uh a dense smoke, you know.

SPEAKER_00

I remember that for a time it was one of the sought-out ones. Like if you say, Hey, you got train wreck, you'd be like, hey, I'll take that for a time. I remember when that was going on. It seems like nowadays in the dispensary era, that doesn't happen anymore, but it's because now there's just so many choices that like you can just go for specifically your choice. You don't really have to venture or or compromise, you know. You right where before it was like we have these four, and so you had to pick from the four, and you're just picking the one you like the best. Now it's like we have 300, and yeah, you know, like what you like, you know, and then they direct you to something. It's a whole different uh, you know, perspective.

SPEAKER_01

And because of uh constant cross-breeding and hybrid, you know, to ask a customer when a butt tender would say, I mean, one that is not in the no, and it's just chasing a feeling, I want to feel so-and-so. You know, usually there were stalwarts for specific, you know, sativas or indicas. Now you can find euphoric in both, you know, uplifted in both, sleepy in both.

SPEAKER_00

But you know, I gotta admit, a lot of you say giggly and you don't make me giggle. So what is the deal with that? And I want to giggle. That's my favorite effect. If you can make me chuckle and laugh, oh, that's I would love this strain. And yeah, I don't know, that's a lot of not happening lately, folks. So I'm at the halfway point, and as you can clearly hear, Skip and I are high. Yeah, that's that magnetism thing. It's a nice little high, nothing too nuts. Um, am I smacked? No. Going back to the effects, euphoric, Skip? No, no, still no. Uplifted? Stretching to try to like, no, no, creative, the one that I just I personally don't understand. Do you feel creative, Skip? No, but we both feel high that we agree with, right? Okay, so we have that, and you know, I gotta say, for the most part, that's something you can say about back home cannabis. That it will get you high. Yeah, that's true. It will get you high. And yeah, I'm I'm actually having a good eye right now. Yeah, it's uh physical wise, physicality-wise, I feel it in my definitely feeling in my frontal lobe. I also feel it at the top of my head. It's kind of like a bubble, like Skip says. Yeah, it's like if it bubbles inside my head and it's like expanding slowly. Uh, my ears are numb. Yeah, funny enough, my eyes are not right. I'm not feeling it in the eyes, and usually that's the first place to go. Right. Not really feeling it behind the eyes, but I do feel a fret uh pressure on like my forehead area. Uh body, yeah, it took out all the little kinks. So it might be good for a medicinal body. But if you're someone who doesn't like heady marijuana, you might not want to mess with it. Right. Okay, what do you think you can use do use this for, Skip? Go out, stay in, watch a movie.

SPEAKER_01

Either that, turning down, you know, after work thing. But it's more of a it's a grounded high. It's you know, it's grounded, so you know I'm not flying, but it's a bit radiant. You know. It doesn't have altitude, but it's expansive.

SPEAKER_00

A bit. A bit. But the it's in the bubble. Yeah, I definitely feel that. Definitely. So I'm in my last third. Man, that took a while. I'm in my last third, and uh yeah, feeling good. Uh, like I do in every quarter. Uh again, not feeling euphoric, uh, not feeling uplifted, and uh don't understand creative. So that's me. How about you, Skip?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm in the bubble. Right in the bubble.

SPEAKER_00

Not much of a choker even till now. As far as the turp profile, it's very light in the smoke. Like I'm at the last third, and I don't feel like that extra uh, you know, spiciness that you should be feeling in the last third. I'm not really feeling that. Uh so you know, this the special extra heat. Yeah. And yeah, not feeling that. So so you know, it's funny because what this reminds me of is uh the that little crop that I was talking about earlier. Uh, you know, the train wreck, jelly bean, blue cheese, uh headband, um what's another one skip that I left out? Uh permanent marker, right?

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

They this little crop of strains kind of all arrived in New York City at the same time. And you know, this is all come probably from the West Coast or whatever, but you know, so New York was getting to try all these different strains pretty much around the same time. And it was like a really interesting, fun, you know, time to be a pothead. And this this strain reminds me of that crop, you know. And uh it has like the same feel, you know, to me at least.

SPEAKER_01

What do you think, Skip? Well, I th I thought those strains uh were particularly stronger, and the highs were more targeted, you know, more direct, some were very heady, some had the body thing going. And the the uh the notes really, you know, were different. But the general feeling, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That kind of now, don't get me wrong, but I feel like I I remember back then, and I remember like particularly blue cheese. Man, I used to get high off blue cheese. Like it used to just feel like it would get higher and higher and higher. I love that strain. Yeah, and but I wonder sometimes, is it the strain or is it us? Because we've evolved over time. The strain is the strain, right? Right. So if the strain was always 20% THC, but now we're used to smoking things with 27% THC, yeah, it might still be the same. It's just that we're different. Okay, yeah, I can see that. And what once was like, whoa, to us, now is like, hey, where's the high? You know?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Or or yeah, the high's there, but it's not as strong.

SPEAKER_01

You know, like no, I I can agree to that. But also, I mean, when you revisit older strains or what have you, there some have attributes that stay, you know. Like uh we reviewed a couple of months ago a haze, a particular haze, and it wasn't or I didn't find it as strong as what you can find in the streets in the old days. But the taste and everything else, the uh everything else was the same. It looked good, smelled good, just that the high wasn't stronger. So what I'm trying to say is that it could be us, but it can't be when it can when it comes to the turbs and the notes, I guess. Those things will still be there. The high, yeah, that'll go. But what if train wreck like was always, you know, uh yeah, I see your point because they were always those particular strains, very few passed 25%, you know, very few. Right. They were all low, but rich in terps.

SPEAKER_00

And what I got out what I get out of those strains, because you know, I have smoked some of those strains nowadays, and some of them still get me really high, at least the one I smoke nowadays. Right. And you know, what I think it is, is just that it has its entourage effect game so high that it doesn't really need the high THC because it found the the unlock the key with the other two, you know, the flavonoids and the and the terpenes, yeah, it unlocked the uh the you know the effect. And hey, you know what? If you get me there where I want to be, I don't care how you get me there, I don't care if it's with the entourage effect or a massive dose of THC or whatever it is, you know, uh just do it. R UV, I UV. But let's just start off like coming from IUP to and that sound of me putting out the J and R rolling uh astray here is the sound of my just finished. And yeah, having fun right now with this old school high feel. Uh am I smacked? No, but I'm nicely high. And you know, maybe it's like what Skip and I said, maybe it's more the entourage team go that's getting that has me feeling so nice right now. Listen, whatever it is, let's hope it goes through for the hour. And yeah, I hope I hope to tell you in an hour that it's still going.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm on the save wavelength there. Rolling into I just finished, and yeah, I'm in the bubble. And it got a little bit more expansive up in here, but let's see how that goes into the hour. See you later.

SPEAKER_00

And we're back after an hour. One hour later. How did it go, Skip?

SPEAKER_01

Well, now, one hour later, right now I don't feel much of the high. I feel a little bit of the post-high, but during the course of that hour, there's a few things going on. I actually had some things that I had to do, so I was a little busy. And at one point, about maybe 45 minutes after the fact, I kind of lost focus and I realized that the high was ascending, and that was strange. That I remembered, and I said, Wow, what is going on here? And that was pretty pleasant. It didn't get in the way, it didn't get in the way, so that was pleasant. And coming back down, yeah. After that 45, it tapered like it usually does.

SPEAKER_00

I gotta say, after an hour, I'm still high-ish, and I don't mean post. Like it's like I'm still kind of high.

SPEAKER_01

Feel it, no, okay.

SPEAKER_00

Um, but I never got to smack tights or anything like that. Right. Um, but still, you know, very enjoyable. You know, I could say that, and I'm still feeling pretty good. I um, you know, I I didn't feel much of a taper or so. I think that that's how I experienced it. I didn't get an I didn't I didn't get an ascension ascension, right? But it didn't taper for me. It stayed steady. So I think it's time to check it out with the smack ometer. It's time. Let's do it. Let's do it. Definitely feel like this. This is alright. This is actually all right. I'm definitely feeling this. This is alright. This is actually all right, definitely all right. And we're back.

SPEAKER_01

Smackometer. How does it go, bro?

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so quick rundown. Uh, you know, it was a really nice looking herb with this really beautiful dark green flex in it, surrounded by light greens and brown hairs, shiny tricombs, right? Looking nice looking buzz, even though they felt a little crunchy to the touch. Terps were very strong. Uh, smoking experience, very mild smoking experience. I mean, it's this is like for newbie smokers, as far as like the taste and the smoke. Very thin smoke. Uh, it was a decent experience. Um, at first it was kind of mild how the high came in, but then by the end of smoking it, you were like really feeling it. Yeah, the high was uh very enjoyable, old school feel. Uh like um, it's like my I the stuff I used to get from my old dealer back in the day, like that little run of when the California weeds arrived in New York City. Yeah. Uh and you know, it it it was it felt it had that feel to it, which was very enjoyable, very, very enjoyable. Um and I guess with that in mind, then you know, final thoughts is old school feel, you know, not reaching the heights that they did once upon a time, but that might just be someone getting older. And so with that, I'm going to give it a 7.23.

SPEAKER_01

The presentation was awesome. It's a nice looking herb. It opened nicely out the pack, and it gave a little indication of some notes, not much at all. But it was because as we handled it, it was a bit crunchy. So it's not out of freshness date, but it's dry. And in breaking up, it reflected that it was a bit dusty. And where I'm going is that I think that's what affected the efficacy, the total efficacy of the product. Because train wreck usually you know, uh acts like its name. And this one really wasn't much of that. And I guess it was due to that dryness because everything else was there in place, you know, the feel, the light smoke, all these attributes. And initially I was gonna give it a lower score, but after that bump in high that I felt later on, and actually it after that bump, it became like a nice mellow old school high. We keep saying bubble, which is true, but really I gotta say that that mellowing out was very nice. And so because of that, I raised it up a little. Initially, I was gonna give it a six and a half. Yeah. But because of all the latter experience, I'm gonna give it a seven point one.
