Platinum Reserve, a subsidiary of HPI Cana Inc. in Poughkeepsie, New York. Founders are experts in cannabis hospitality industries. You can find it in New York and in Washington State. They sell flour and pre-rolls. Their boxes come in three colors, denoting type. Indika is purple, sativa is green, hybrid is orange. Do you know who else is a subsidiary of HPI Cana? Interesting. Juicy fruit of 5545 sativa dominant cross between Afghan and Thai. Top effects are creative, euphoric, and happy. Top flavors are tropical, plum, and tree fruit. As far as this particular strain, it came to us in a 3.5 ounce glass jar, which came inside of a green box, which retails anywhere between $35 and $45. We got this particular jar in New Amsterdam Cannabis Dispensary NYC, and that's on West 14th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues. Make sure to pay them a visit, y'all. Definitely. We're back with the roll. So how did it break, Skip? It broke a little small probe, but it was still enough for the show, which is one blunt and one joint, and there's possibly enough left for just one more blunt. Yeah, there was just two tiny buds left.

As far as look, like greens, dark greens, ambers with orange hairs, totally coated with golden pollen-like tricomes. Yeah. One larger bud with smaller buds, still very supple. A mild turp profile was its sweet plum, a little bit danky, but very mild.

Pulling before I light it. Danky. And then on the scent side, there is like a little bit of like frankincense. It has that like a little sweetness. Yeah, and a sweetness on the top. Yeah. All right.

Let's light it. Let's see what happens. Definitely has that little plum thing going on. It's even dankier. Yeah. A taste when you light it. Oh, yeah, it is. It's like a danky plum. Yeah. Taste that. It's funny because the smoke is not light. And then you end up taking a really deep pull and you're coughing because of it. Exactly. Like, oh, it's no big deal. Coughing everywhere. Yeah. So we were very surprised to find out that Platinum Reserve is a subsidiary of HPI Canna. Uh, we thought that Platinum Reserve stood on its own. Right. Uh, but basically, yeah, it's HPI Canna, uh, which we know is uh famous for dank by definition, or most famous for. Uh, and so that's really mostly what HPI Can is known for. So Platinum Reserve is uh probably a niche brand for them. I'm wondering if this is like the the higher end probably brand. But then when I'm thinking about price point, usually dank is has like some offerings that are actually more expensive, right?

So yeah, Dank has more uh uh range in price.

Here they're their pricing is more static, but uh but pretty you know uh competitive, it's not super expensive. We're talking about anywhere between $35 and $45 platinum reserve.

Okay, so at so it we can safely say that they're kind of competing with themselves sometime because some danks are about the same price.

Or maybe they feel that uh you know the dank is for the higher end. Okay, that's quite possible.

One of the other definitely probably is playing off of that. And maybe they're playing this one because most danks are available in the Mylar bags and the plastic jars, sometimes a glass jar. This one here is always a glass jar in a box.

Yep, and usually and yeah, they retail. I mean, they can go up to even $50 at some point. I'm looking at the prices right now, and yeah, some of them go up to $50, which is, you know, I mean, that's a little much, but for the most part, it's anywhere between like $35 and okay. Now we I guess we should amend that and say $50, right? Uh another thing that I found very interesting was how they denote their types. Um, from what we're seeing here, the types are denoted by the colors of the boxes. And so green is uh, it says here what sativa, purple is indica, and orange is hybrid. So this one should be more sativa, and it's a 55-45 sativa. So that's correct. But one of the things that we noticed, the flaw in their packaging is that if you take it out of the box, it uh the glass jar has no marking, right? It says platinum reserve on it, but no brand, no strain, no anything. So if you have multiple platinum reserve jars, like on a table, you're not gonna know which is which, right? They have no indication on the actual jar. So you'll have to keep it inside the box to know which is which. That's that's kind of a design flaw, in my opinion. What do you think, Scott? Oh, I agree, I agree. I mean, put the label on the jar, yeah, like uh or a secondary label on the jar, right? I would think. Um, they it seems to have hit the the correct terpenes, so like you know, leafly, all but they both said the terps are mercine, caryophylline, pinene. Not quite, almost. It was what we got here is caryophylline. Oh no, we have mercine lemonine caryophylline. So they have some of the same ones, but some different ones.

I do taste the plum. Yeah, and I think tree fruit is that piney thing that you can. Okay, okay, that's fair, yeah. Because it's not quite piney. I know what you're tasting. Yeah, it's kind of piney, but not quite. Right, right. And I think that's them trying to either do pineapple or tree fruit.

Oh, I see, because yeah, um, I feel it more than I taste it.

It's a complex but mild flavor. Yeah, it's actually a nice smoke uh as of now so far. Uh, not an offensive smoke, might not be too bad for freshman smokers. Right. Uh, you know, they might cough a little bit because you're gonna get caught if when you're pulling too hard since it's such a so uh smooth smoke. But other than that, it's not like too harsh taste-wise or anything. Are you feeling anything yet?

I don't know. I'm taking these deep pulls and uh I don't know, a little foggyness, not even an openness, just slight foginess.

Yeah, like my spider senses are tingling a little bit there, but nothing too strong. This does have a sweetness to it. Yeah, it does. I just got like a little bit of a papaya there, like uh those papaya strains, yeah.

It's like the the the you know the taste, yeah, yeah, the the aroma. So HPI Canna, and now I'm like interested to find out how many more uh brands are under their umbrella, yeah, yeah. They're collecting labels, yeah. Are they just the distributor? Are they just are they the actual manufacturer? Right. They say that their brands are dank by definition, 40 tons. Wow, didn't know about that. Oh, look at that. That's a shocker, yeah. A good times New York is one. I have never seen that one. Have you ever seen that one?

Okay, it's just saying an exquisite cannabis collection, unique terpene profiles, new and rich experiences, nothing crazy, just like basically saying that. 40 tons is a social justice commit committed brand. So it's a mission to uplift communities impacted by cannabis-related injustices. Good times, as we said, where the pre-rolls infused, platinum is the connoisseur brand, passion for perfection and history with cannabis. Guaranteeing every bud represents the pinnacle of purity and potency. Well, triple Ps. Then they have Drew Martin, which is they're saying it's a it's also this is all partnering, supposedly, with all these brands. No, 40 tons is manufactured by HP, and it says it brings Dank by definition to New York. Oh, okay. Which is what they're I'm using their words, right? Okay, well, this I blew past my first third. Yeah, going fast. And uh probably in my halfway. Wow, so I just completely blew by an effect check sitting there talking about platinum reserve. Uh the the brand. So let's go through the effect uh fact check. Uh happy?

As far as flavors, there's a sweetness, kind of like a papaya quality. Have you ever had a strain with papaya, papaya juice or sinus? It has that similar kind of flavor. It's sweet, but a little danky, and then a little like a little heavy. Yeah. But not, you know, like in a in a fruity way. Yeah. Good flavor.

It lends itself to that because um the high is not big. It's the anticipation of the high that leads to those deeper pulls. So I don't know if it's a cyclical thing with them where you just stay right here. Because the high is here now, but it's has no speed, normal acceleration. I'm not sure if it even has expansion yet.

I uh you know what? I will say I do feel it kind of ascending. Yeah, I'm not sh sure where it's gonna go. Oh, it's not very high right now, but it's like I do feel an ascension. It's just, you know, is it gonna be an ascension to our satisfaction? That's a whole other matter. Right. But so far, like the taste, like the presentation, pretty bud, you know.

Exactly. And here, yeah. So far, so nice buds. Smell great, you know, nicely trimmed. You know, I get the packaging there. That box is most likely to protect it from the light because the um the jar is clear, no label on the jar.

Which I say, please, secondary label on the jar, my friends. Secondary. It could be the same exact label as you have on the box.

Yeah. The one on the box is a simple, you know, QR code label. Nice, informative, but you know, black and white, that'll do. That'll do.

Right on the jar, on the cap of the jar. You know, if you want the jar to stay pretty and clean, put it on the cap. Easily confusable if people just open a bunch of boxes and throw them all on the top.

I mean, it's, you know, it's part of nature. We open a package and the first instinct is to throw away the box. It came in, you know. So it's like, ooh, you know, you have to give it a second thought there. Great point, Skip.

Yeah. They're small. That's another thing. The jars uh they appear in real life, they're smaller than what you think online. And even though it's the same three and a half that a lot of companies use, they uh their jars is smaller.

It has like less surface area. Right. Yeah, and I am feeling something. I don't know if it's gonna be super strong, but it's happening. My ears are getting numb. Um something's happening there.

You know, I I caution because it started happening from the rip, right? The feeling, but you don't want to condemn it till the end. And I'm like, hmm, I and I I still struggle to say old school feel, like I don't want to say.

But I I know why you kind of feel it though. Yeah, because it does kind of have that feeling. Yeah, which is hey, that's cool. You're right. There's nothing wrong with it. That's a cool feeling.

Do you think it's an apt description? It could be, it could be. I mean, it's it's really trying, you know, it's really trying with the sweetness and the such only thing is that in the description you read tropical, and of course the mind tends to think, you know, more like uh candy-like, and no, that's not the case here. You know, it's more of a feeling, and uh yeah, it's more in the feeling. I wouldn't say tropical, sweet, but yeah. Yes, Kip, let's go through it.

No, no, that I was trying for that one. See, that was kind of an easy one, an entry one. Tingly, creative, no, physical-wise, I've actually it's it feels more indica-ish to me, physical-wise. Like I feel the heaviness.

Um, you know, it's like uh I my body, I feel that all my aches. Yeah, so it's like that heaviness, the heavy factor. And relaxed, like very relaxed, and it's not cerebral, like my brain is not flying all over the place. I am high, I I feel the high. It's just like kind of a foggy, you know, slow.

All the way through, I'll give you credit for that platinum reserve. Flavor is strong, yeah, same flavors, yeah, same flavor. Nothing changed. Maybe not as sweet. That's it. Interesting hour. How did it go, Skip? Well, one hour later. Right now, um not a big high, but you know what? One hour later, there's still a high. It's just more afterburn than anything. Um, and I can tell because of the lack of focus. I was trying to focus within the last 15 and I found it a little difficult to do. So I can tell that although in the head area I might not feel super high, there is still something going on there. One hour later. Yeah, I have to agree with that.

I think I'm still high too because it took us like 10 minutes to start this one hour later segment because I wouldn't shut up. I was just going off into a bunch of tangents. And it's like, okay, and we're starting, oh, and this and uh something else. So yeah, definitely high. Definitely still some type of high. Uh, and yeah, that's pretty impressive, I gotta say. Yeah, I think we're ready to put it through the rundown, right? And smack a meter. We're ready.

All right. Well, let's do that final rundown. So, I mean, you know, medium-sized supple buds, mixed greens with short orange pistols, and a generous uh you know, dusting of white trichomes, danky musky, loud notes, very nice, you know. So let's just do the rundown of how it looked when we opened it. I mean, it was really pretty and nice looking, and smelled a very light smell. Right smell, but like this plum danky smell, really nice. I mean, you know, not a lot, not much left over, keeping it real, but you know, we smoke a lot too, so we gotta kind of qualify that. We smoked it and we liked it. It was a nice experience. Uh the smoke was pretty cool. I mean, you can cough if you pull too much, like Skip and I always do, but other than that, pretty pleasant smoke. And yeah, as far as the experience, uh, it started with a crazy physical high. Everything was like physical based to the point where Skip and I were saying, is this more of an Indika or something? Like, what's going on? You know, but it started to get like those, those, the sativa side as the high started going on. Once we started into the one hour later segments. So, like 25 minutes in, for example, I started to feel euphoria. Just felt really feeling really good, you know? And I mean, you know, felt very chatty. The music felt really nice. Oh man, damn it, damn it, damn it. I'm gonna have to say it. It had kind of an old school feel. It's true. I'm not gonna lie. It's true, right? It's true what you said, okay? It is uh and it was fun. I had a lot of fun with it. It didn't get me super high, but that was okay. It got me high enough that I enjoyed the high. Uh, breaking down the effects, did I feel happy? I don't know if I would go all the way to happy. Uh, I did feel euphoric. I definitely felt that. At one point, I didn't feel tingly, but what the all those kinks that I was still feeling when I first started smoking, it kind of went away a little bit. And as far as creative, yeah, I don't know. No, I don't know about that. I did feel relaxed. I felt open. It's good for conversation. Uh, we had a great conversation here. We were yucking it up. It was a lot of fun. Again, I still agree with what we were saying earlier. It still has a little couch lock kind of a thing. Right. So you might not want to go out with this. Okay. Uh, but hanging out with your friends, maybe okay, maybe a bar, you know, but hanging out or hanging out at home, you know, just doing your thing, it's a lot of fun. And because of that, I'm gonna give it a 7.9.

Okay. Okay. And it deserves it. I mean, I I have a slightly not different, the same views, just that um, I enjoyed the experience, actually. And like uh I mentioned before, this is our introduction to platinum reserve. And wow, you know, I didn't think much of it, of course, because it's it is uh fair priced, you know, it's fairly priced, and um it started with the packaging and everything else. The the presentation presented well, smells great. Um, yeah, and smoking it, nice experience. You had the smoke has a lot of character, and uh it also, like like pro insinuated, a lot of old school vibes, you know. I didn't want to say it, but it it does have that old school vibe from the taste and the feel, and uh the hide, not big, but it lasts, and it again has a lot of character. It was a nice experience. We'll definitely do it again. I'm gonna give it a seven and a half. I'm excited to try the next one. Bring it on down. And good mates.
