Review: Grandi Guava by Florist Farms

Smoking session review of the Grandi Guava cannabis strain released by Dank by Florist Farms.

Florest Farms, originally from Cortland, New York, uses rent generative farming techniques because they're trying to heal the environment. They also grow organic vegetables, and they are sun-grown.

Grandy Guava apparently is a strain that has been around for some time, and because of that, there is varied information online, which almost contradicts Florist Farms packaging themselves. So let's start and go down the line. It could either be a sativa dominant, an indica dominant, or a 50-50 hybrid of guava and gelato. Top effects are focused, energetic, and giggly. Top flavors, ammonia, chem, and blue cheese. Top terps are caryophylline, limanine, and pharnacine. THC values are as follows: 19 to 20% according to All Bud, 19% according to Leafly, and a hefty 29%. THC according to Flores Farms.

And we're back with the roll. Hi Nicole Skip. Actually, it broke pretty small there, pro. It was enough for the show, one blunt and one joint, and there's barely enough left for one round.

Yep, that's unfortunate. As far as look force greens, lime greens, light greens with yellow highlights, small to medium-sized buds, very sticky and supple, powder coated with champagne colored tricomes, looking very pretty. And the terps are popping. I got creamy, I got sweet, and I got something like cheese. Yeah. Which kind of goes with some of the secondary flavors that they were talking about, which was cheese, creamy, sweet, sour, tropical. And this particular package was packaged almost two months ago. Oh, very fresh. That's right. Let's find out how fresh. Let it ready to smoke and skip. Oh, we're ready. Let's do it. Let's do it. So, like I said, first impression was like a sweet, creamy kind of thing going on. Yeah. Maybe a little dankiness, which I'm gonna attribute to what they say is cheese. Yeah, cheese or chem is like a there might be a little chem in there too. Yeah, it's all into it. Oh, so it's moving back and forth the flavor profile. Let's see what happens when we smoke it. So talking a little bit about Florest Farms, I said why the jar is orange. Uh well, they actually break their strains up, and it looks like the caps of the jars have different colors depending on what they're trying to say.

Uh, what we saw online was that uh green, a green border around the sticker on the cap means hybrid. An orange border around the stick of the cap means uh sativa and blue or purple uh border around the sticker on the cap means indica. Yeah, so this one's we have to admit we're not really sure how accurate that is. Um, because like we said, this is this was we don't know, they're jumping around hybrid, uh little sativa dominant, little indica dominant, but grandy, uh, but florist farms is saying um it's a sativa.

Uh and I think we saw that with another strain that was Floris Farms the other day, where we saw that it had a purple and it was in a sativa. We thought it was a sativa.

Yeah, so it's not totally clear what Flores Farms intends to do or is doing because they list it totally as a sativa, but everywhere else online it says otherwise. So it leads us to believe perhaps this is their own mix or their own uh version of uh of Grandi Guava.

It's possible. It's possible. Okay, so uh a little bit more about Florist Farms. Uh, they have a sister company called Head and Heel for CBD products. Uh as far as Florist Farms themselves, they do craft flour vapes and edibles. Uh and then some interesting factoids. Uh they grow their weed in 20 acres of what used to be a cabbage farm. Oh wow. And the business itself, before they, I guess before they acquired the cabbage farm, uh, was started as a backyard garden.

So they're really um, you know, florists. Yeah, I guess that's where the florist farm name comes from. As far as the strain, grandi guava, man, their stuff has been all over the place. Like Skip told you with the effects. Uh, they were like focused, energetic, giggly, euphoric, yeah, uplifted, which we kind of think is the same thing, Skip and I.

Uh the flavors said ammonia, chemical, and blue cheese. And then another set said cheese, creamy, sweet, sour, tropical. Yeah, it's a lot of overlap. Yeah, there's just a lot of confusing information about the strain. And you know, we gotta attribute that to the fact that uh, you know, people make up names for strains all the time.

Yeah, or I we find that if a strain has been around long enough, there's a enough hands in the cookie jar with their versions just waiting to so that that strain, quote, and air quotes, um, you know, has uh variations in air quotes.

Yeah. Because look at this guava gelato. I taste neither.

I taste the sweetness, yeah, slight sweetness, kind of like a creaminess, a little fruitiness, but it's not that determinant. Right, not enough to say this is guava or anything. Yeah, wow, I'm choking there because I took a deep pull trying to get like down to the nitty-gritty on this flavor. That carry is swinging that sword. Well, carry's number one as far as the turp profile. Yeah. Or turp uh count. So carry's gonna be in there. Uh and yeah, lemonine, farnacine. What are you tasting?

There is a sweetness that maybe wants to be some sort of fruit, but it's and it's lending itself to like uh it affects the smoke. That's why the smoke, I believe, is kind of thin. But yeah, not enough there to say that this is a flavor.

Yeah, it's like an essence. That's a good way to put it, Skip. Not really a flavor per se. It's very mild, which is surprising because when we broke it open, the the profile was loud. Yeah, it smelled great, but it didn't, it's not translating into the taste or the smell like when you're smoking it. So it's just kind of disappearing. Let's see if they come through maybe a couple more chokes, take some deep pulls, skip, so you can get yourself coffee. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Flores Farms is um, you will find them. They're not in every dispensary, yeah. But they're in quite a few dispensaries in New York, they're easy to find, and they're usually one of the more affordable brands, even though it can go up. I've seen some crazy dispensaries selling them for $50, which I don't even think Flores Farms is okay with that.

Um, normally we see them somewhere in the 30s. So it's one of those reasonably priced brands, usually.

Uh so yeah, and you know, we're always down with that. So if if you're a reasonably priced brand, we tend to like give you the benefit of the doubt, you know. Absolutely. And we could say that about Florist Farms. Yeah, yeah, definitely. You know, they really confuse me because on their uh wow, this one says tropical with hints of sweet citrus. So that's this one kind of is going more with the second idea. Well, let's see if that's true.

But yeah, that's what I'm saying, though. They it's on their own packaging, but the experience doesn't even match that. It doesn't, yeah.

It's like there's not really a strong flavor. Um, and yeah, I you know, they also confuse me because they have a big giant 35% right next to the tissativa. Yeah, and I'm like, wow, that's the THC. And then in really tiny letters, it says T A C. Yeah, which is what total, yeah, total something, right? Yeah, total active cannabinoids. So that's talking about T H C, C B D, C B G, and C B N. Yeah, the whole kitchen. Yeah, come on, man. That's not cool. That is not cool. Because if somebody first glance is gonna go, wow, come on.

Well, I mean, it looks like that's the intent because that's right on top of the cap and it's big, 35%.

So it's you know, it's meant to attract, and then in tiny letters after it says 29 TG. Yeah, really tiny. Yeah. Uh-huh. That's what it probably should say in giant let numbers like the 35. Yeah. So we don't we're not sure about that, Florence Farms. Uh, one thing we will say about Florence Farms, I don't think we found any indication that they are outside of New York State, right? Which makes them a legacy or craft brand. And we're always down with those first. Definitely. Wow, I did get a little chem there.

That's why I was like, right there at that moment. Yeah. I got chem. One thing I'm not getting is ammonia. Yeah. Are you getting tropical?

It's mostly like a little sweet and a bit earthy and danky and with highlights of like camp. Okay.

All right, first effect check. So are we feeling focused?

Are we feeling energetic? No. Are we feel oh are we feeling giggly? Not yet. I say that because, man, that's my favorite effect. Yeah. It's to feel giggly. And we never get giggly. I think we're just too much of you know, two old potheads, man. It's just not gonna happen to us. Oh, I don't know, man. Let's see. I love those giggly days. Euphoric. No. Uplifted. Okay, let's go. Focus for me. No. Energetic. No. Giggly. Well, you would know. Euphoric. Uplifted? No. Okay. Are we feeling anything? I don't know.

I mean, um, the car is still in the driveway. I don't know. I don't know. I'm seeing the look on Skip's face. Yeah, I mean, it's a nice character. Smoke is easy to smoke, but I'm not feeling anything.

Okay, what exactly am I feeling? I'm feeling something and it's not really determinant. I think the only thing that's making me kind of feel like there might be a high there is uh that my ears are kind of feeling tingling. And that's one of I have a few different physical tells. Right. Like when I'm when weed is affecting me, and that's one of them is when my ears tingle. Oh, okay. And I that I'm feeling, but I'm not really feeling much else. I feel a little fog. And and the tingling ears. That's where I'm at so far.

Maybe I'm touching on I want to say relaxed, because you know I'm feeling a little like slow here. A little kickback.

Well, that's kind of what I've been describing as the fogginess. That's kind of what I'm getting. Yeah, it's that most so yeah, I'm feeling that too. It's it's you know, it's there, uh, but it's just there at this point. Uh let's jump into the flavors. So ammonia, no, right?

Uh blue cheese and cheese, I would probably think is the same thing, right? So we say there is a dankiness, so we we can consider that cheese. Yeah. Uh creamy. I'm getting kind of a creaminess. Yeah, there's a strong milkiness. Yeah. It's not even milky, it's like a creamy. Something there, yeah. Which I I would have probably till before today told you there was no difference between milky and creamy. Milky and creamy, no. But after today, no, there is. I actually taste the difference. It's like different, it's not milky, it's creamy. Yeah. Uh sweet, yes. At times, yeah. Sour?

You're getting sour? Yeah. Um, and then tropical, we're saying no, but we had we got a hint of a fruit somewhere.

But we're not calling that tropical because that really only happened to me like one or two poles.

It just yeah, it just happened to me at that moment. And uh and then yes, chem was definitely there because I got a deep chem pull at one of one of those shots.

And it does sound daunting. I mean, all those uh flavors, and you were saying, wow, how can it be? Yeah, it is at times. All these things jump out in there.

You know, yeah, it's uh that's a corner copia of flavors, and it sounds good. Um, so but no guava. No guava. Forget about that. Uh so Mary Jane, uh nice little shop. Literally one store off the corner on Lexington Avenue and 62nd Street. Um, cool spot, nice little spot, cool people. Yeah, you definitely want to pay them a visit. Okay. Um, if you're in the city, it's right in the right in the middle of everything. So if you're hanging out, you're going to the show, you're going to the game, you know, watching a movie, just hanging out, having some dinner. You could always just walk by, boom, you're right there on the spot.

Well, this goes back to what you were saying about Florence Farms uh in the beginning of the pod, where you were saying um that uh Florence Farms tends to come on late. Definitely. That seems to be the experience again here with Florence Farms. So Florence Farms wants to stress you out a little. Yeah, I mean question your purchase. Right, right. Before you feel good in the neighborhood. Yeah, you panic a bit with that buyer's remorse. So I'm like and then you're like, oh, wait, oh, okay. Hey, listen, as long as we get to the same destination, right? I'm not really uh cognizant about how we get there. Not worried about it.

Yeah, I mean it would be even the the the ride would be more uh interesting if there was more flavor in the drive in the passenger seat, you know. But here, no, that doesn't seem to be the case, and that of course causes the panic and the deep pulls. So it's like a cycle just to get there, and it's it's it's interesting.

Even though I must say it's not that it tastes bad, no, more natural. It has a more normal nature part, and then the flavors that it do does have is very, very mild, right? So it's just hints, hints, hints, hints, and then you you know it's just the mild hints with mild marijuana flavor, also like mixed in.

And that's interesting that uh Floris Farms chose to go that way in a market that is saturated with candy style weed, if you will, you know, to compete in that sphere, you know.

The first criteria for me is not uh it's not how it tastes. The first criteria is the eternal question of all dear mates, and you know what that is. Are you high?

Oh, absolutely, absolutely. But to uh for myself, you know, especially when you're when I'm buying it, I try uh for personal use, I try to get something that you know can um satiate all the senses, can enjoy it multiple facets. You know, I enjoy weed with character, just get high, right?

But let's get high, love the taste, love the experience. You know, felt good when I was doing it, felt all cafe society, right? That's a good thing. And then felt amazing after it lasted a long time. I felt like I got my money's worth, right? There's a bunch of criteria. And is that too much to ask? I don't think that's too much to ask. I don't, I don't. It's a reasonable price, right? Right. Well, you see, there you go, there we it breaks pretty nicely so that I can uh you know have more than one. Yeah, New York City.

And then second of all, they're also gonna give it to us at a lower price because it's you know, it's local transport, man. Right, right. You're not satisfying some overlords in an ivory tower somewhere else, and so yeah, go for it. As far as this, I think I'm in the halfway point. How about you, Skip? We said we had uh creamy, we said sweet, we said sour, we just said sour, and then we said indeterminate fruit. And we're saying that maybe that's what they meant by tropical. Yeah. So we're giving tropical a maybe. So I'm gonna give it a half. Or tropical. Yeah, it's it's okay though. Um, experience-wise, can you see yourself doing this in a you know big crowd?

Like, you know, I just, it's just not appealing in the high state that I'm in. But who knows? That might be just me. We smoke the last part. It's actually burning a little quicker towards the end. Started as a backyard garden. What's up with that? You know, in 2010. So this company is 16 years old, 17 years old, right? Almost. They say that the farming techniques that they use is supposedly to regenerate the earth, and that's what they mean by healing the environment.

So they use techniques, and then they also grow organic vegetables that are also supposed to be restorative. So less pesticides, hopefully. I would hope so. I'm smoking this stuff, right? They say that uh isn't marijuana the plant itself, uh, regenerative for dirt. Yes. So that's why you should grow marijuana to like replenish your dirt. You know, you make cycles, you grow your fruits, your vegetables, and everyone's like, you know, you need a little help, you grow some weed. That would be cool. Very smart. So alright. I think I took my two or three little pulls there. I think we're down to the last effect check. So skip one more time. Focused. No. Now, do you feel energetic? Because I said it.

Uh for me, focused? Nope. Uh, energetic is the one I said yes to. Giggly? No. Sadly. Uh euphoric. No, no, I don't I don't feel good about myself. And yes, I agree with Skip to do the relaxed. So we both said relaxed. Did you ever get ammonia? Not at all. Not at all. We said yes to chemical, we said yes to cheese, and we said yes to all the others. Creamy, sweet, sour, tropical.

As usual, smoking in a one and a quarter raw unrefined rolling paper uh with a tip. I like to use their raw tips also, their pre-roll tips. I don't usually use the ones that are tipped cones because they seem to clog a lot. I like to roll it myself too, because then you get to roll how much you want. Skip as usual, using Dutch Masters OG, OG cigars, because he is the blunt man. And um he is, of course, as you know, like many Dutch master smokers, he unrolled it and smokes without the outer leaf. He only smokes the inner leaf. Just give me a little breakdown of how we do to compare how you do. We are hoping at some point to have someone that uh does a different medium, maybe smokes a pipe or a bong. But this is a smoking show, so we're not gonna have edibles or you know, um any of those type of things or vapes. Right. Because this is about flour. But we're not against that stuff. If you like that stuff, go for it. And also, you might hear a future show, sister show, talking about what we think about edibles. Right. So, you know, absolutely, it's gotta be like it's gots to be. Yeah, so it's good, you know, going down all the way, still tasting the same. Yeah, which is pretty excellent. Uh, it didn't get it too harsh. I mean, you know, there was chem in there, so it's gonna be a little harshness. Never got ammonia, got the cheeses. Um, yeah.

But let's just start off like coming from I U P. I U Pla. Um winding down as you hear, as you hear it, into the just finish. Yeah, and the high is the same as it uh as it came off, and uh it's a low, I don't want to say low-key high, but it's there, and um it'd be interesting to see.

Yeah, okay, so I guess for me, there's a foggy, there's a little feeling of fogginess, you know. Like I said earlier, the ears were numb. Um, let me think about physicality. Uh no real physicality, everything's still the same, except for that little numbness. Um, but not too much of stuff. There's a high. Am I focused? Energetic, giggly. No, not really not. Yeah, relaxed and maybe a little energetic. That's yeah, that's as far as I can go. How about you? About the same. All right, so let's see if we get something else in an hour. Let's do it.

One hour later. How did it close it? Well, one hour later, I don't feel much of anything now, but the experience was not for naught because the smoking was interesting with all those uh variations of flavors, and actually the essence of those flavors that was interesting. But again, one hour later, I'm not feeling much of anything. I could say that it probably uh tapered off a little bit after half an hour of it, and that's where I am now, one hour later.

Okay, well, um I'm I mean, I feel a post, but that's what it is. It's post, right? It's definitely a post. Uh, and I still feel some residuals, though. Uh, I still feel a little bit of the energeticness, and that's not too bad. But yeah, it's not much left. So I'm kind of in the same boat. I think we're ready for the smack meter. We're ready. Alright, well, as you know, let's pull it out and do the rundown. Alright, so we had super medium, medium-ish size, supple buds, right? Fresh, light green with some brown pistols, you know. Some sweet notes darted in and out. The smoke itself, very mild. Mild when you smoked it, mild with the flavor, you know. Um, mild with the profile. So you weren't smoking, you know, even though it was like carryophiline was the lead, but yeah, yeah, it didn't really attack you too much. Uh if you tried to take deep polls, maybe. Um, as far as the effects, never got to focus. Uh, got too energetic, yes. Like that was actually probably the most prominent effect for me. Uh, and you know, rare is the is the strain that actually comes through when it says energetic. So, you know, bravo to that. And I guess that kind of supports uh Floris Farms' argument that this might be more sativa, right? Okay, because you know I feel energetic. Uh, I never got to giggly, but at one point Skip pointed out that I was acting silly, and he was like, Does that is that like an extension of Giggly? Don't know, but I'm gonna say no giggly. Uh euphoric didn't quite get there. Uh and but I was relaxed. And as far as the flavors, like we said, chemical blue cheese, uh, more cheese, creamy, sweet, sour, and tropical. Yes, the only one that it didn't hit was ammonia, and we're not too sad about that. Uh, what can I say? You know, it was a decent high. I felt energetic. I like that. I like feeling energized, um, and that's cool. Other than that, not really a powerful high, you know, head-wise, headcanon-wise. So it didn't really get me to, you know, smacked levels. Right. It was a decent little high though, and it got me high. So it broke that threshold. And for that, I'm going to give it a 6.4. Well, I mean, let's just start by uh going through the name here.

Grandi guava. Uh, not much of anything here is grandi, just the absence of something. And that something could be many things because it's uh it seemed to be missing, or uh what should I call it? More like essenced into it. And I'll get into that. And the guava part, yeah, definitely. No guava here. It has guava genetics, but no guava taste, no guava feel, none of that. Gelato type, but very mild. And again, it's like pro said that's basically the keyword here. Mild, mild, mild. You can take that and stamp it all over. Everything's mild, flavor is mild. Uh the hive is a bit milder, but not much else. Not a bad experience. The taste was varied, but again, mild. I would like it to be stronger. And for that, I'll give it a 6.2. That's where we're gonna go. All right.
