In this episode, we explore what it truly means to live a life of submission through the lens of Romans 8. Submission is not about weakness—it’s about surrendering to the One who knows us best and loves us most.

We break down three key areas that help deepen your intimate relationship with God:

  1. Going to God for Help – Instead of carrying struggles alone, we are reminded that God invites us to come to Him in our weakness. Through His Spirit, He helps us in ways we may not even have the words to express.
  2. God Knows You Fully – God searches our hearts and understands our needs. The question becomes: How are you involving Him in your daily life? This episode challenges you to be intentional about inviting God into every space—your decisions, emotions, and thoughts.
  3. Trusting God with Your Worries – What we often stress over, God has already accounted for. When we align our prayers with His promises, we begin to see His will unfold and experience true peace and results.

This episode will encourage you to let go of control, trust God more deeply, and walk confidently in the freedom that comes with full submission.

Hey guys, welcome to Let's Talk 1213, episode two. Um, if you're dreaming now, that means that you've found some benefits in the last episode on how to pray. And if you haven't listened to that last episode, please do so. Right? Episode two, we're gonna talk about intimacy relationship with God, right? What does it look like to drop everything to follow God, right? And when you're praying, right, how do you align those prayers with God's will for your life, right? Now that you have learned that in order to pray, you have to first honor God, remind God of his promises, and then you make your request known boldly, right? We also learned in the last episode that when we do that, we start to see that God adds a little bit more because our heart posture is right, right? In order to have good heart posture, you must have intimate relationship with God. So today I'm gonna talk about my intimate relationship with God, right? A lot of you guys know or may not know that I went on this major weight loss journey. Um, and this major weight loss journey all started back in December of 2023. So December 2023, I was really struggling with some suicide ideations. At that point in time, I was also married and I was a new mom. I believe like Nyla, what she's four now, 2023. She was about two, three. She was three. Um, and no, two. Yeah. So, you know, she was turning three in 2024, right? And so I basically during that time I was struggling as seeing myself as a wife, seeing myself as a mother, and things was really getting tough on me. And I was just like, you know what, God, I can't succeed in these roles. Like, I clearly, me being a mom and a wife is not happening. And I don't need to be here. I felt worthless. I felt like I didn't need to be alive. Um, and basically I had to take the reins back of my mental health, right? My mental health was depleting. And if it wasn't for my intimate relationship with God, and God reminded me that your identity is not in motherhood, your identity is not in you being a wife, you are my daughter, and you were created for such a time as this. Like when Esther was told that that hits every time. Like you were created for such a time as this. Like, what are you doing? Figure out what you need to do so that your mental health can come back into in alignment to who I called you to be. And so in 2023 of December, I decided to go back to the gym because I enjoy the gym. I love the gym. It's not only because it helps me with my weight loss journey, um, but it also gives me a place to release stress, to really to cry, right? To over-exert my body so that my mind is not wandering on the things that I was going through and the circumstances that I was going through. Right. Um, and once I started going to the gym, I felt better. Like I I love my coach, right? Um, I always big him up in providing a space for me where I was able to cry, where I was able to, let me tell you, all of the things. Like I cried, I whined, I complained, I I was, it was like group therapy because you have other women in that space as well. And I needed that community to keep on fighting. The more I saw that my body was able to fight, my mind was fighting too. Like, no, I am God's daughter. I am the one person that He's called me to. God took me to Romans 8. So we're gonna look at Romans 8, right? I love Romans 8. If you haven't read Romans 8, I encourage you to do so, right? And so in Romans 8, it talks about, and it, and, and I honestly had to really accept the fact that the sufferings of this time does not compare to the glory for which God is gonna call us to, right? And I just believe that as I continue to accept who God, I really struggled in believing in who God called me to be, in my identity in God. I know I'm his daughter. I know that he has given me purpose, I know he has chosen me, and I know he has called me. However, I get so beside myself because of insecurities that I start doubting, right? I doubt who God calls me to be. But once I started to submit more to God and who he has called me to be and my identity in him and just being intimate with him, right? We hear Matthew 6, 33. If you guys don't know, seek you first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added on to you. But the scriptures before that, it talks about worry, it talks about anxiety. Like, why are you worrying about what you're gonna eat, what you're gonna wear? Like, don't I clothe the lilies in the body? Don't I feed the birds in the sky? So, how much more can I do for you, right? And God is a good, good father. He's not gonna give you stone to eat, he's gonna give you bread if you're hungry, he's gonna give you good things. So once we have God in a in and we're in intimate relationship with him, what do we need to worry about? Like, why do you even worry that you're not showing up the way that you need to show up? Like God graced us, and that was another thing I had to learn how to give myself grace, the same amount of grace that God gives me, right? Um, because I just feel like God, I don't deserve it. And that's the definition of grace, right? Like, you don't deserve it. You're right, you don't deserve it, but I'm still giving it to you because I love you. And being an intimate relationship, we think about that. When you're in intimate relationship with somebody, is them reminding you all the time that regardless of what you think about yourself, regardless of what you see about yourself, I still love you, I still care about you, I'm still gonna show up for you. I love you unconditionally. That's what is called agape love, right? And that's why I love 1 Corinthians chapter 13, because it teaches us how to love like God loves. Love doesn't hold the record of wrongs. Love is not envious, love is not boastful, right? And if you don't know that scripture, I encourage you today to go read it. Um, my second point is like God already knows us. Like, he already knows us. He's in Jeremiah says, before I formed you in your mother's womb, I knew you, right? I already anointed you and ordained you. So God already knew you. And that's why I said when I hear that, when I remind myself that you were created for such a time as this, like God already had an appointed time for me to be here on earth. He already knew what I can handle, he already knew what I can't handle, he already equipped me with all of the things that I need to be successful. So if God already knows us, right, why are we not involving him in our life? Right? And I want to encourage you guys to question, how am I involving God in my life, right? It says, lean not on your own understanding, right? And if God is calling us not to lean on our own understanding and to rely on him, remember from my last episode, Solomon asked for two things, wisdom and knowledge from God, right? And then he was added all of these, the wealth, the honor, the riches, right? And I just want to encourage you guys, like get into intimate relationship with God. Like what we worry about, God can take care of. Like, God is a God that takes care of his children. It might come with some chastisement, it might come with some discipline, it might come with some pruning, it might come with some suffering. That's why I'm telling you, Romans 8 is so important. If you don't believe me, right, let's go to Romans chapter 8. Right, verse 11 says, But if the spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ, Jesus from the dead, will also give life to your mortal bodies through his spirit who dwells in you. So then, brothers and sisters, we are under obligation not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if we are living according to the flesh, you are going to die. But if the spirit you are putting to death, the deeds of the body, you will live. So we have to put this flesh to death. We cannot continue to move and operate based on our circumstances, based on our feelings and emotions. Because we also read in the Bible that the heart is very deceiving. Our feelings are deceiving, right? So we have to filter a lot of things through the spirit of God. And the only way you can do that is through intimate relationship with Him, right? Yet not I that live, but the Christ that lives in me. That's why I love Romans 8 so much. If we go down even more, it says, For you have not received the spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons and daughters, by which we cry out, Abba Father. The Spirit himself testify with our spirit that we are God's children. So when we get into intimate relationship with God, we're partnering up with the Holy Spirit so that God, when he looks at us, he knows that we are his children. When he looks at us, he knows that we are called, right? And it also goes into saying, and if children hears, also hears of God and fellow hears with Christ, if indeed we suffer with him, so that we may also be glorified with him. So we, as we live this life, we are gonna go through sufferings because believing in Jesus Christ comes with sufferings, it comes with persecution, it comes with ridicule. Jesus was ridiculed. Jesus suffered for us. He did not get glory until he died on the cross and he rose again. Okay, that's when he was able to sit at the right hand of our Father. He went through a lot of suffering, a lot of people questioning him, his own family, right? That's why I love when Jesus says, Who is my brothers and sisters? Aren't it these who are doing the will of the Father? Don't you want Jesus to be like, wow, these are my brothers. This is my family right here because they're doing my will. But you won't know the will for your life that God has for you if you're not in intimate relationship with him. We have to go back to the manufacturer. We won't go to Android, take our Android phone to Apple, right? Apple is not going to be able to fix it. But if you have an Apple phone, you can go to Apple and ask them to help you with that device, right? We need to go back to our manufacturer, the one who created us, the one who knows us very well, so that he can help us, so that we can continue to succeed in this fight, so that we can continue to succeed on this journey. Remember, it's not for the swift, but those who endure to the end. And I want you guys to endure. I want you guys to be able to really suffer well. And I know that's not an easy word for a lot of people, but we really need to learn how to suffer well. Once I was able to align my prayers, align my mind. First, it was my mind. God, I literally love how the Bible says that of pulling down God's weapons are for the pulling down of strongholds. Every imaginative thing that can come up. So that idea that I wasn't good enough and that I didn't need to live anymore, that wasn't of God. God had to rip that out of my mind. And it ended me going back to the gym and crying about it and people pouring into me and reminding me that God has created you for such a time as this. It is not time for you to doubt yourself, but a time for you to believe in your identity. That's why he had me read Romans 8 that you are my daughter. What is going on? You are my daughter. Once I was able to realize, like, yes, God, I am your daughter, and you have promised me that you are gonna put me before nations, that you are gonna have me do something where I will have influence. And look at me doing the podcast. That's what I'm saying. Like you have to understand once you're in an intimate relationship, and then I started to pray, God, help me with the discipline around food. Help me to stay consistent in the gym. Help me, if you really calling me to do a thing and you want me to be before people, I need you to help me with my character when it comes to this weight loss journey. And how can I develop discipline, right? Because that's what God is calling us to do, to have discipline, to steward this, because it's not us. This body is just a vessel. This body is just a vessel that God uses, right? Like so that he can be able to fulfill his promises and purposes on this world. So I just want to encourage you guys today on episode two, get into intimate relationship with God. How are you including God in your life? How are you including him in your prayers? How are you aligning your prayers with his will for your life? And once you're able to do that, you're ready to move from glory to glory. Because every step, every journey with God, honestly speaking, is gonna come with its adversities. But however, God's adversity comes with protection and provision. I just hope that this encourages you to keep on fighting. I love you guys, and welcome to Let's Talk 1213.
