Hello, Howdy, and welcome to all of our listeners out there to episode 5, baby, of Running Out of Breath, the one and only Marathon Podcast. I'm your host, Old Town South. Good to have all you listeners here again with us. Today, man, some things have some things have changed since uh the last time we, especially since we've recorded episode one, and hard to believe here we are already at episode five. The retention continues to come through. Appreciate everybody. All of our Asia listeners, all of our European listeners, all of our people from Virginia, shout out to you all. Bear with me, everybody. If you notice my voice is a little off in this episode, you would be correct in that assessment. I have I uh we have caught the we have caught a nasty cold here in my family. Don't know if this is a weird time of the year to catch a cold, but uh nevertheless. Caught a cold I have, and goodness I have spread it to my family, and uh man, we bat we uh we had my son's birthday party yesterday, and I feel like we bare I it was it was a blessing and it was awesome and it was great memories, but uh whoo! It was already a little stressful trying to you know make all the preparations for his birthday. Okay, and then on top of that, throw in being sick and having a cold, and then man, it it it bless his heart, dude. He caught he caught what I had the day before his he started having symptoms on Friday, the day before his party, but he was a he was a trooper man and he done so good. He he powered through it, and everybody that wanted to see him got to see him and be with him, so it was uh it was a good time. Uh wanna take this opportunity to kind of update everybody on uh my progress with the game, and then I'm gonna turn it over to Bat and I'm gonna ask him the the same question. So, some updates from Old Town South. I currently uh at this time have 117 hours in the game. I think I had around 60 something hours in the game when we recorded episode one, and I am sitting at level 78, so almost 80. Uh, some goals that I have accomplished, I would say in the last one and a half to two weeks. I have finished all of my new caloric contracts. It was it was hell and high water doing those, and it was also hell and high water doing this next thing I'm about to say. Yesterday I officially completed all of my Traxus contracts. A lot of a lot of blood, a lot of sweat, a lot of tears, and a lot of money. A lot of blo a lot of loot lost in the name of New Caloric and Traxus. I hope you're proud. I hope you're happy, New Caloric. Take my gear, please. Use it well. I'ma die in your name. Die I did. Um some more goals that I accomplished. Uh, this was a really cool one. I upgrade I got the upgrade armored tier three. That is a I believe that is from the new caloric armory, and that is where you can always buy blue shields. So I'm really, I'm really proud about I actually haven't even utilized it yet where I've had to buy a blue shield because I had several in my vault on reserve, and I had several purple, uh several, but I had some purples to spare. So haven't even had to utilize that yet, but I'm happy it's there. Another cool upgrade, uh, a goal I have accomplished is from the Arachne Armory, I have unlocked the Deluxe Retaliator, uh, a blue aka a blue retaliator. So that can be purchased at any time. If times get really hard, uh that is available at my disposal. And last but not least, this is one I accomplished um I would say maybe probably a little bit longer than two weeks ago, but I'm gonna go ahead and throw this in here. I accomplished and I reached Flex Matrix Tier 3 from uh the Mida armory, and that has been such a good quality of life change. It does two things. I know it just literally makes it to where you can jump higher. That is very noticeable. Doesn't seem like much when you read it, and that's probably an easy thing to bypass. But I would encourage anybody if you have not got fli it, it'll put you through crap, you have to get those thorough re thorough weave lens, it'll make you go to quarantine, it'll make you go to places you don't want to go. But if you get lucky and you get those resources, you have them available. I highly encourage anybody, invest in Flex Matrix, get that to tier three. Batman, I'm gonna turn it over to you. Hope you're doing to today, brother. Tell all of our listeners how many hours do you currently have in this game? What is your level? And what is some goals you in game that you have accomplished in the last two weeks?
SPEAKER_01Okay, so to start off, um I have officially got a 132 hours. Cool. Um I'm level 93, um about to 94, I think I'm at like 87%.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01Um I officially have Arachne and Cyber Acme both at the VIP status.
SPEAKER_02Let's go! So you so you beat you beat me to uh you beat me to Arachne. That's awesome, buddy.
SPEAKER_01I I have been maining arachne since kind of the first week, so that was honestly I wanted that one before Cyber Acne, but it just it required less rep and their um contracts were a little bit easier.
SPEAKER_02Fair.
SPEAKER_01So it was a little bit easier to get with the cyber acne, but I finally have arachne. Um I don't have all of the capstones unlocked for arachne. Um I'm hoping to finally get that someday. Um but I've got the rest of them. My levels are Nuke Caloric at 27, Traxus at 25, Maida at 23, and Sekaguchi at 17. And I'm pretty sure I was looking a little bit ago that all of my stuff I'm like on the last set of story um contracts. So I think if I were to just sit down and try to do the actual story contracts, I would probably finish them all. But I'm not gonna lie, they're difficult. Yes. And doing um doing contracts in general is kinda kinda irritating some days.
SPEAKER_02Oh god, they are so irritating some days. I'm gonna I'm gonna st I'm gonna I'm gonna interrupt you just for a second. Would you agree that some of our worst nights on Marathon are nights where we're we're trying dire marsh nights and when we're trying to do contracts? Would you agree?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah, even the perimeter contracts are way easier than dire marsh. Yeah, um, like the only time that I ever felt that we were able to like actually like sit down and do the dire marsh contracts was during the sponsored kit week. I feel like we got a lot done there. Like I knocked out all of them that I had available at the time. Um yeah, no, I would definitely agree. Um, my codex, I do want to flex a little bit. I've got 224 out of 440, so I'm a little bit over halfway. Ws. Ws. Um. The stuff that I was the goals that I met in the last couple weeks. Um I was finally able to get the self-res from the armory. I can buy that at any time. Nice. Um, and then in arachne, the two that I've been wanting to get for a very long time were the hard strike level three and cutthroat level three. So I now do the total 60 plus melee damage. And then um I'm at a hundred percent on a finisher siphon, so that gives me charge on my shields after I perform a finisher on a downrunner.
SPEAKER_02Love it, love it. Uh spoiler alert. Um so hey, uh all listeners, spoiler alert. I'm about to say what you get for Traxis when you do the final contract. Please mute your car, your truck, your phone. And hear very shortly if you do not want to hear what you earn. Three, two, one, I'm gonna say it now. So, there's a neat upgrade when you finish the final contract for Traxxas, you get a gold repeater. I will go on record to say I don't I'm not a fan of that gun, but uh I have no doubt in the right hand somebody that's got good aim could make good work of it. Uh it that that gun screams dire marsh. Uh I feel like that gun would probably struggle in quarantine. I feel like even it would probably struggle in outpost, but I'm gonna give that thing a whirl sometime. I there's a side of me that wants to just take the credits. Because if I sell it right now, I think I'd get like 7,000 credits. I mean, it's worth a lot. Uh and I think it's even got a unique to it, but one of the it it's got like an interesting, it's either a scope or like a barrel. Like the more you hit target, like you if you continuously hit a target, it ramps up the rate of fire. So pretty deadly for a type for an archetype of that gun where it's designed, it shoots slow, but it hits hard. So uh I will be making that, I'm sure I will be dying with that gun soon. So somebody somebody in the marathon community get ready because a gold repeater is heading your way from yours truly, old town south. Bat um I want to go on a rant here. This is kind of this is kind of on our notes. It's kind of not. You know, we've talked about in our podcast a lot of our highs. Uh we've we've we've we through the episodes, we've uh we've talked about a lot of our good. We we we talk a lot about the good, you know, when we go and we uh we we just are racking up kills on Outpost. We ranted and we raved uh in episode four about how well we did in Cryo Archive, how much fun we had in there, and you know, we've uh we've we we've we've given ourselves our flowers at times, but I I you know I I I think I want to take this moment and share with everybody and remind everybody that we are we are still the casual gamer, we are still the nine to fivers, and we promise you guys we have our bad night. We have it is not that way all the time. Matter of fact, the moments we talk about it on the podcast, though those high moments, we get so fired up about them because they're rare. They don't that that's not normal for us. So it's ex it's it's we are the underdogs in this game. So when we have when we wipe a lobby or we have a big moment like that, it's it's honestly it's extra special to us. Bat, let's take this moment and let's kind of make ourselves a little vulnerable and let's l assure everybody that we have bad nights. Let's go visit May 3rd just for a little while. Oh my god, Bat. That was that was a rough night, man. Uh, we definitely donated a lot of gear to the marathon community. Um we died in the name of New Caloric. Man, by now, uh, I I know we were we were trying to do it was one of those gigs where like it was five of five. I was on one of my la I probably got it in these notes somewhere, but I don't think I could find it quick enough to without there being an awkward pause in this episode, but I know we were doing we were trying same old story, we were trying to do one of my stupid contracts. It was new caloric, and it was making us go to Dire Marsh. It was j and you know the we've slept since then. We've come down, we've calmed down a little bit, and it's not even as fresh as on our mind, because that was May 3rd, when that was like a Monday when we did this, but I rem I'm gonna tell you some things I remember about that night, man. Um for one, I will say the ultimate goal was accomplished. I did end up, I I solo queued after you logged off. I I geared the absolute frick up. I brought my best guns, my best armor, my best mods, and I played like an absolute rat. I hate playing that way. I don't like becoming that person, but that's spoiler! I still died! I still died, but I got it done because I didn't. It was one of those things where you didn't have to extract. Extract, but I did get it done. Uh, but man, you know, that night that uh we were kind of down on ourselves that night. But you know, when I look back on it, almost every we attempted it like four times, maybe even five. Almost every single one of those runs, we won our first fight. We won the first and I can even remember two or three two runs where we won the second fight. But it was one of those contracts, man, where we had to go to here we go again, guys. Get ready for it. Another quarantine rant. It made us go to quarantine and w and every time something would go wrong. Another thing, the name of this episode is probably gonna be Cursed Con Episode 5, Cursed Contracts and Grenade Gutting. We'll get into grenade gutting later. But I remember our first attempt, we beat two teams, we were the last team on the map, but the freaking lockdown event happened at quarantine, and we had no antivirus packs. There was only like five minutes left on the clock. We were looking everywhere for one. You finally found one with like three minutes left on the clock. You gave we you gave us all a drone, you popped it, you gave us the buff, we went in there, we learned the hard way, the the two users with the drones that get the buff, it doesn't last as long. I had to scan three things in quarantine. My buff ran out, and it what what what was so sad about that moment was it was right there, but my buff ran out and I couldn't interact with it. It the game literally would not let me interact with it. I went down and then our teammate went down. I don't know how you clutched because we were also actively getting pushed by bots during all of this because it's quarantine, right? I don't know how you did this, bat, but somehow with me completely dying and our teammate going down, we're in an active lockdown event, you somehow pulled this out your butt. You got You got me up. You used your ult, you got me back in the fight. I sprinted as fast as I could. I made it to the very edge of the lockdown where you're getting the virus. I went down again, and then we were in that area. I can't think of what it's called, but it it it's USC Haven. Intersection. Intersection! There's UESC everywhere there, and it's an open area. We were still getting gunned down, our other teammate went down again. You somehow survived. It was it was it was video game hell. It was pure chaos. That's an understatement. You somehow clutched hard and you got us out of it, and we actually extracted. Contract wasn't done, but we actually extracted that match. Um, so you did great, man, that game, and then you know what happens from here. Then the next four times we queued, so close yet so far, we just we always beat the first, if not second, team we went up against. But we just we couldn't win the third fight, or we couldn't win the second fight. There was all I mean, there was one match where we literally bat we killed two teams and we made it to quarantine. And it's another nucleoric, like the four of five, I don't remember what it's called, but it it was the four or five. It's one of those, it makes you run all over the I mean it literally makes you run all over the place. It's it's like just very it it makes you go to bioresearch, it makes you scan something there, and then you get this buff, and when you get this buff, every time you go to an area, it alerts the UESC, so you're constantly getting pushed by UESC. Therefore, you're alerting everybody in that server, and they're coming your way. It's an awful contract. Then it makes you go to greenhouse, it makes you scan something there, and then take a wild guess, it makes you finish the contract, it makes you go to quarantine, and you have to scan three things at quarantine. It's awful, dude. I mean, one game we There was a team liter in a free kit lobby just camping. We didn't even make it, we were at intersection, and somebody was like holding that high ground close to quarantine with and they had like they had precision rifles and they just gunned us down. I could couldn't even react to it hardly. Um bad, do you got any uh I I I I think my goal with all this, my my goal, the reason why I brought all this up is I just want everybody to know like we're human. We're the we're actually we consider ourselves the underdog. It's not rainbows and unicorns for us. This game at its core is a hardcore game. I mean, it's it's not always for the uh for the faint of heart, and we have our bad nights. That was one of our bad nights. Any thoughts on on May 3rd?
SPEAKER_01Um yeah, I think that I I think that Bungie could make it so that you know during those runs in Dire Marsh. If you're killing robots, I think that the spawn rate for the um antivirus packs should be um upped a little bit in the packs that they drop. Right. Just in case that there's a lockdown. Cause I mean, I think we probably killed like 15 robots before we even tried to go into the lockdown with the virus pack that I did find, and it was one. Yes, and it was just one.
SPEAKER_02Um and there's nothing we can do about that. It's not you know, you can't say, well, you should have brought one. We can't. We can't free kit. It's a free kit, it was a free kit lobby.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um another thing, I I think that this is something that Bungie really, really needs to think about. Um I think they need to put the damn roof back on a quarantine. They need to seal that baby up. Yeah, I think that would. Change the way that that plays out in there to something that would be more realistic. Like if somebody takes the roof and they make it down those stairs that come inside, and then they kill me, that's one thing. But just standing in the glint of the sun where I can't see you unless I have a thermal, which they took out of the game, basically, unless you have a purple. Um Yeah, that that's that's a little unfair.
SPEAKER_02I'm not gonna lie. You just don't feel good. I know we're in her head a lot of it, but there's a we're getting a lot of consistent results, so maybe we're not so much inner head in way that place is cursed, or I don't know, but I ha I cannot stand. I just don't really like the map, Dire Marsh, in general.
SPEAKER_01I think that if somebody's gonna push in quarantine, they should be forced to go through the doors or take the risk to funnel down the stairs. Yeah. That's that's that's my point. Like that roof has that it should be a completed roof.
SPEAKER_02That that roof is strong. It's really strong, man. And we know already how how strong high ground is in this game, because that's why we're always pushing for it, get high ground, but like that just that's a lot of times just that's where we that's how we die. Somebody is just already they're on they just they get that high ground and they gun us down.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm. And we were with Fallen that night, and the thing is, like, he was popping a guy that was on the roof, who had a blue shield, and he was hitting him in the head because it was the only thing he could see of that character. And I mean he was lighting him up, but that high ground still killed him. Yeah. That does not seem like it should be a thing. Yeah, I know, I know, I know. I don't know if they had like an auto-tracking gun, like one of the Volt guns, but even then. I mean, he was lighting them up. And I don't know how he died. I really don't.
SPEAKER_02Uh yeah, man. Um yeah, that was uh that was a tough one, which we you know, we'll kind of take that moment. We'll take this moment. We'll segue into how last night went. Uh last night, um I without thinking about it. Last night was interesting. It it was uh kind of another one of those nights. It was a mixture. More um, first of all, we always have fun when we play the game. Uh we always have a good time meeting our our people that we've met through this game, so I don't want the idea to get twisted. It's just as far as I'm speaking, it was more of a low night, is in the context of how did we perform and how did the games go. Um there were some highs. It wasn't all lows, there were some highs. Um, but there were probably more lows last night. We definitely made some donations to the community yesterday. Gear was lost, credits were spent, tears were shed, blood was shed. Trips back to spawn was taken. Oh, bad. Oh, you're gonna have to help me out here and jog my memory, but uh, we started the night off. We had a really successful free kit run, which is now hey, let's talk about that. Well, actually, let's well, no, no, I'll I'll I'll back up. I'll just uh I'll we'll we'll get to that here in a minute. Uh we had a successful free kit run on perimeter that went really well. I think we we killed one we did a couple. Y'all I think I only did one with y'all. I think y'all had done some before I logged on. Did we do more than one when I was with y'all?
SPEAKER_01I thought we did two because we wanted to really get you wet like you know working.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, we we may have. I I remember they went good though. Uh no no issues. We even killed the we even killed the ghost warden. And we got a cryo vault one key. So like that was that went really well. Well, then we went into cryo archive. Uh we did we we made two attempts. Our first one was the free was the was the cryo free kit run. That one that one's the one that escapes me a little bit how that one went. Um jog my memory. How did that obviously we we died both times. We didn't make it out last night, but help me out. Well what went down in that one? Do you remember?
SPEAKER_01Um was that the one? No. Um, because I had borrowed my mesariah for that one. Yeah, you brought it up. It did happen on the first one.
SPEAKER_02What hap- yeah, I don't remember what went down.
SPEAKER_01I remember I had a lot of stuff. I remember I had like 25, 30k sitting on me.
SPEAKER_02Well was that the run or was that the run where we get there was a run where you we found like okay, this is gonna burn a little bit. We found like four biolinces.
SPEAKER_01That was the miseria.
SPEAKER_02That was the okay, so that was the second run.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So yeah, okay. I don't know if I remember the first one.
SPEAKER_02I'm not I'm not even gonna lie to you. I'm I'm not yeah, yeah, same. No, same. I I don't remember. That is a complete blur to me what happened the free kit run. But I remember more details from and I remember it was slow. I remember we were kind of really having a hard time finding tags.
SPEAKER_01I remember. Okay. We were going into uh the middle section to try to go to another spawn point. Um, because we did not have enough keys to get to security level three.
SPEAKER_02Right, okay.
SPEAKER_01And we ran into a team of three freaking recons.
SPEAKER_02Yes!
SPEAKER_01And we were split up.
SPEAKER_02And we they caught us split up. Yes. W bat, W bat. Good memory, W memory. This, because I got pushed. I think they downed you, they caught they split us up, and then I backed up. I somehow ended up in the freezer room, and they of course they were actively using their ult, so they were able to see exactly where I was. They they gunned me down, they put me in the dirt like a dog. Um, yeah, yeah, yeah. That okay, I remember now. That's what happened. We didn't have that one didn't seem very bad because for one, it was a free kit run, and two, I don't think we had even found a lot. That one, that one, that run was just kind of a struggle altogether.
SPEAKER_01I I know I had a lot on both runs. Uh the second one I definitely had more. But I had a lot of the collectibles on the first run. Oh, that's cool. I was excited to get out. I don't have very many, obviously.
SPEAKER_02Our time is coming, man. I cannot wait for more cryo runs, dude, because I am I'm gonna be honest, even before we get into the negative of the of the second run, like, I still had fun. I have a lot more fun in cryo archive. That's something to be said. I have more fun in cryo than I do dire marsh.
SPEAKER_01Doesn't make a lot of fun. I have more fun sitting in my room staring at my wall than I do on Dire Marsh. Are you kidding me?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah. I feel you, I feel you, preach. Um Dire Marsh. God, Dire Marsh. So the second run. God, dude, uh, that one was one of those like sweet. We were so we were so close to our vibe. That that that run there, did you notice, kind of set the pace of the night a little bit. Because that run, you had like four violin seeds. God knows what else you had. Even I had a lot of good stuff that I had found. Like, I'd found a lot of really resources that I need. Like, that was gonna be a we we beat the first team that we fought. We took all their gear, so we were pretty kitted just from killing that first team that we beat. Well, you know, we had to take some time. I think we had to find a few more security tags. We kinda had to get our bearings a little bit, you know. I kind of f- I'm a f I I follow, I just kinda, yes, sir, you know, because I I don't I I don't navigate that map good yet, so I really go off following his guidance on that. Uh like I I I kind of always stay, I try to stay in a pretty close proximity to him. Like, I'm always checking. And that's also because I play trio, so I'm always looking for y'all, making sure y'all have the drones. But uh, yeah, dude. That one, oh god, dude, that one was just a moment an unlucky moment away from being such a banger run. Context, everybody. We beat the first team we fought. And uh, we beat them pretty swiftly and clean. It was a real clean, it wasn't even a gritty fight. Like we we smoked them pretty good. Um vibes, we we we were doing really good. Well, we made it to security clearance, tier three. We were getting ready to extract. We knew there was a team near us because we were hearing the gunshots. We had a moment where we were conflicted. Should we fight these guys? Because we were feeling good. Like we we were coming off some good runs, we we were we were feeling good in that moment. We were conflicted between should we go hunt these guys down and take care of them or should we just go extract? Because he had hit the terminal, so the extraction was appeared on the map. If I remember correctly, Fallen said we had to get through that team anyway, because that's the way we had to go. So it was inevitable we had to fight these guys. What ended up happening was we did not win this fight, but it's it's so unfortunate. I can't bat I I can't speak for you and him. I don't know how y'all went down, but let me tell you how I went down. We I had them on their heels, dude. I was grenade spamming that room. I was getting tick damage. I know some of them were hurt, dude. I threw a bubble shield to you guys. I don't think it was the best placed one, but I threw that to kind of help give y'all some cover. But dude, out of nowhere, out of literal nowhere, I start taking shots to my six, and I'm sitting here thinking, what's going on? I turn and like my shield was depleted too. Like I was like taking actual health damage because I had no shield left. I turn around, there's a freaking ghost commander just sitting there behind us. And if anybody doesn't know that's listening, what a ghost commander is, that's one of the not highest tier enemies, but it's one of the more elite UESC archetypes in the game. Uh uh a ghost commander can go invisible, he has a lot more health, he can spawn these like do I think he even spawns like these duplicate drones that can hack you, and he's got a lot of ma he's got mechanics up his sleeve, and he's he's more than just a basic UESC infantry, like he's a commander. I I and I saw him do before we engaged in that PvP fight. I saw him way across on the other side of the I saw him spawn in. But I didn't even have a weapon that could he was so far back. I literally did not have a weapon that had the range to shoot him without it taking everything I had. Like he was too far. I never in my wildest dreams thought that boss would have went all the way across the room. He did go upstairs, by the way, and push us the way he did. So unfortunate. I started taking damage from the ghost commander that pushed me. The enemy team that was directly at my 12 that was ahead of us, saw it, took the 50-50, capitalized on the moment, and it was either the I it was one of them, it might have actually still been the ghost commander that downed me, but they they capitalized on it because I took shots from them too. That's how I went down in that fight. What was that what was that fight from your angle?
SPEAKER_01Um, so as soon as we saw that we had to extract, we saw where we had to go. I got close to that doorway that they were in, and I pop my ult, and all of a sudden I see three enemy runner icons pop up in that little hallway, and I go, Oh god. Cause they're all purple shields. Yeah. Obviously. And so I know that me and Fallen started just pelting them. I mean, I it it was like an S corner, so like it went in a little bit off to the right and then back. Um I started throwing flashettes like nobody's business. Um I pulled out my Misraya, took a couple shots, I know I broke some shields.
SPEAKER_02Um it's even more disappointing here. Because we had the dude, we had them on their heels, dude.
SPEAKER_01We they were dead. They were dead. We had we had these fools, dude. The the bubble shield came down and it was good because I was able to reload and kind of just get my bearings. I threw my little robot because I was playing recon. And it went in, and I know it exploded on all three of them. So I'm like, dude, yes, this is what we need, because now they can't move. But this was the exact moment I see you getting shot by the robot. Which is between me and them. So I turn and I start getting pelted by the robot. I turn around to try to find, you know, cover around a door. Well, the stuff that was behind us was a long hallway that had rails on either side. So it was just a straight shot. Nowhere for me to hide, nowhere for me to go. And as soon as I turned back around to face the enemies, they're peeking around the corner, they take me out.
SPEAKER_02That's what they did to me. They saw me getting shot, and they took the 50-50, even though they were hurt, and those few shots they put in me what was enough.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and then they just popped around the corner and finished falling. And then they yet. Now I want to add on I wanna add on the fact that um Yeah, I almost shut my PlayStation off at that moment last night, because I I I did lose my Miseriah, which I had had since week one.
SPEAKER_02Rest in peace, Mizraya. Rest in peace.
SPEAKER_01I can't tell you how many times I took that gun into Outpost and was brought back with the X-Fill because of that Misraya. Yeah, yeah. So that hurt me to my car. I didn't really care about the bio seeds, I didn't care about the collectibles, I didn't care about my heels. That miseriah was worth eight grand.
SPEAKER_00Ooh.
SPEAKER_01And it was my baby.
SPEAKER_02Ah, yeah. That's how I felt when I lost my uh bloodthirst, uh, bloodthirst boy.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, I was uh I was fighting my inner demons. Rest in peace, and then we went on Then we went on uh a bad We went on a bit of a tangent after we went to that because we're like let's go to Outpost. I think we went to Outpost next, right?
SPEAKER_02Oh, I forgot about that run.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. We went to Outpost. We did a couple. Um Yeah, we tore it up. We were mad. All three of us were were mad. I mean, Chase doesn't really get mad, but he was heated. And when I tell you that we went in with the mindset that the outpost lobby was going to rue the day that they decided to play the game, I'm not kidding. I went in and I started, you know, shooting people with my bully that I had, and I killed one guy. Um we were in processing, and then I see two of them running to the right. So I jump out, and I hear both Fallen and and Ch or out uh Old Town calling me, and I'm like, hey, you're by yourself, you're by yourself. And I jump down, this assassin comes around a corner, I start just hip firing my bully. See him break his shield, I put a couple more bullets in, I punch him in the face, it goes down, and I go, Oh yeah. And then the Vandal pops out that I was chasing originally, and I start hit firing and I punch her in the face. They both go down, and I go, yeah. So when I tell you I was on like a serious rage run during that.
SPEAKER_02That was it.
SPEAKER_01I felt really good after those two outpost runs, and then it went to dire.
SPEAKER_02And then it went dire. It went down. Uh yeah, man, I forgot about those outpost runs in the middle. Uh like I said, it was uh last night was a weird night. It's always a pleasure to play with you guys. Um always want to keep reiterating that. Like it's it's always great playing with y'all and making me. It's always fun. Like it like have you ever thought of have you ever thought of it from this point of view? Like these stories like I don't even really see any other YouTube channels using our style. Like, we tell stories. We we actually take it play by play, like how our nights went and how it had, you know, we just like we we literally, when we go on these runs, if you look at it from this point of view, it's a you're it's a story, it's a quest. It it's memory if you're with your friends, it's it's memories. Like the way me and you are able to just talk about and walk everybody through our missions and how it went and what went wrong, what went good, but we were that outpost runs. I I I really can't say it any better than he did. We were not the team to be messed with. We were on uh we we were out for literal blood and blood we got we I think we lobby wiped. If we didn't lobby wipe, we got really close to lobby wiping. I think we had like one team. We agree, yeah, yeah, yeah. We missed one. We were and we were actively hunting them down. We were hot on their heels, and they just they they got away from us, they extracted. But we killed rooks, we killed the other two teams in the lobby. We we were the team to beat in that one. Um Then we went to Dire Marsh and things got weird. And and I'll tell you the moment I think where the gas really got sucked out of us. Now you gotta also bear in mind, this was at about, would you say, 12.30 at night? 12.30 in the morning. You know, we were I think you gotta factor that in a little bit. We were probably wearing out, we have had some high emotions, and now on top of that, on top of us already being kind of tired from all the runs we had been on, the highs and the lows from cryo and outpost, and even like I said, we had like two per uh perimeter runs. I mean, we played a lot. Then on top of that, we did we decided to go, we not we, I, I take the blame. I'm the one that raised my hand and said, Hey guys, wanna help me do my contract? Wanna go to Dire Marsh? Um, our our worst map. And I'll tell you the moment the gas, I think, got sucked away from us. And we never really came back after that. Was that match where we we spawned at Bio Research, we looted that area, we heard somebody at Complex, we pushed Complex, we got the two downs on the enemy team and the Vandal 1v3. That was the moment where I think I really felt the gas. The vibes and the gas. Kind of, you know, you the the the energy, that's the better word. Mm-hmm. That's that was the moment where you just kind of really that the we lost some energy when we lost that cryo archive run because we were all so looted and we all had good stuff, and we all know just how unlucky. That fight went down, and that just it just hurt. Because we didn't get outplayed. R and G was not on our side. But when we got to the dire Marsh runs, that there's just no other we we can't really. I can't with a clear conscience say, oh, well, if this would have happened, oh if that would have happened. Sure, we could have made better decisions. And honestly, better decisions and being more alert and just having more energy probably would have helped us more in these fights. But we got to Dire Marshman, especially when we got 1v3'd by that Vandal. Uh we just were getting outplayed. I think we the frustration was just kind of building. I think we were just running out of steam. We were running out of high energy, and we just and then like some of those next runs where we we spawned in and we just got smoked. Like d some of those fights, man, were just not even close, dude. I they weren't they weren't e at least when we at least, you know, you can hang your hat on like the Vandal. As bad as that felt, the Vandal 1v3 in us, at least we nuked as two teammates. We you know, we were competitive in that fight. But dude, those next three runs, we were we were not, and I'm gonna take a lot of the blame. I started p just playing bad. There's just no uh I'm just you know, that's just what it is. I just started playing bad. I I I started overthinking things and I don't know. But anyways, anyways, some of the though those those fights were not even close. And then it kind of turned into a moment like, okay, let's let's go get it tomorrow, boys. Like, let's let's cut the PlayStation off. Let's go get it tomorrow. You don't know this, Mat. When you logged off, I said, um, I'm gonna give this one more try in a solo run, and Fallen wanted to come with me, so we match made a third, and uh it took us two. We we just all we did was free kitted, and um it was another really complicated contract because it spawns in so many enemies. This was Traxus Five of Five, the final one. What you have to do is easy, but it's the PvP effect that's rough because it it you you make so much noise and it just attracts everybody in the lobby. It was rough we actually got it done though. It was really rough though, and then we um we played one more with this random that we had matchmade with, and we helped him with his contract, and then we called it a night. It was actually like 2 a.m. at this point. I was absolutely exhausted, and I am still feeling that currently right now. I am not a young lad anymore, and I feel those 2 a.m. game nights. Oh, I said a bad I said a lot there. Any final any any final comments on on last night and and just how it went?
SPEAKER_01Um The only thing is you know uh one of the games that we got just smoked on, like I tried my hand at a different weapon that I don't use. It was the Zeus, whatever ARG. I hate that gun. That gun sucks.
SPEAKER_02I'm not really gonna be able to do that.
SPEAKER_01At least in my hands.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, in my hands, yeah, yeah. We'll say that same thing for me. In my hands, that that those guns don't feel good.
SPEAKER_01But I mean, nine times out of ten when I'm when I'm in dire, I'll tell you this right now. It's the environment that screws me over the hardest. If I'm in a room and there's no glare, or there's no fog, there's a better chance that I'm gonna win. Not always, but there's a better chance. If if I have sun glare on me, I'm screwed. I I cannot see it. I'm not gonna be able to do what I need to do. And that's what happened to that one. Um Fallen even pointed out like we lost two uh two green shields and a purple. Yeah, yeah. That one uh not gonna lie, I almost just logged off. Yeah, like didn't say a word, almost just logged off, but I I stuck around.
SPEAKER_02Um I think uh his I think his pay I know he'll he'll listen to this. Shout out, Fallen. Hi, hope you're doing good today when you listen to this. Um I think even he would probably agree. His patience was probably tested too last night.
SPEAKER_01Um we both we all lost a lot last night.
SPEAKER_02We lost a lot. Even he himself, like he said, he like he said, my bank vault has never been this clean. Like he said, I haven't had this much space in a hot minute. I feel bad, dude. I feel bad we had that many bad runs because he's a good player, and I know I know some of those runs just had to be free. Me and you're we're used to getting our teeth kicked in sometimes, but I don't think he is. Um, because he's uh I mean uh he's he's a good player, man. I mean, you saw you saw that apex video he sent. It's like, yo, Old Boy's a good player, dude. And um, so I he I bet his patience was tested, but I'm I'm I'm thankful he stuck it out with us. He he stayed positive. You know, he even noticed that too. Like he stayed positive, he didn't get too high, he didn't get too low. You you could feel the just some of those runs and how it how it happened. But he did yeah.
SPEAKER_01Any negative feelings in in any of that last night I can guarantee was emanating from me. And it's not because I was mad at either one of my teammates. I am someone that is so hard on themselves in every aspect of my life. Yeah. So like when it comes to gaming and I fall short, I get angry because I know I can do better, but something went wrong, or I'm just not performing the way I should. And that's what it was. So I want to make that a very clear point. I was not mad at either one of you. Like, I was just so irritated that I was falling so hard on my face. I was so pissed.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, uh, it was.
SPEAKER_01And I get that way in like Overwatch 2, it's not just this game. So, I mean it's it's that's it's just a personal thing. Like, I I do it everywhere.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, um, it it's all good, man. Uh, I'm hard on myself too, and I used to get hard on myself also a lot at Overwatch. I mean, I would uh I I would feed in, I would make mistakes, and it would it would cost if the tank dies in Overwatch, that's critical. That's critical. Like especially in 5v5. Like you can't lose your Sebastian. Let's bastion.
SPEAKER_01The damage tank.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but yeah, he can just he can carry the weight after the tank dies. Um yeah, man. I know I I I have that too, man. I'm hard on myself as well. But guess what the beauty of it is? We are no pun intended, we are running a marathon. We are we are in this for the for the long haul and we're we're patient. We're not trying to rush this thing. I am genuinely excited about this coming Thursday and Friday, whatever day we decide to do our next cryo archive run. I'm gonna make preparations slowly throughout the week to get ready for it. And it it's a new it'll be a new week and it'll be a new day. I will feel better. I won't have as much on my mind. I I had parties and just some personal I've just had a lot on my mind the last couple of days on top of just being sick. So even I was not at my best last night. Come at it this next coming week, be fresh, and uh I I I I got a good feeling about it, man. And we gain knowledge every time we do it, we gain knowledge. We learn things about ourselves, we learn mechanics, you know, we we learn, we learn, we learn, we learn, we learn, and we get better and we get better and we get better. That let's get into some of the nitty-gritty um of kind of what's going on. Uh we've talked a lot, we've actually uh just ranted and we freeballed for almost a full hour now. Um They did the thing that we knew was coming down the pipe. They gutted grenade spamming, literally gutted it. Uh this is for for anybody that don't know, I'm gonna try my best to explain it. So when you would bring grenades, there would be per slot, you would have two grenades per slot. And the different tiers of grenades would take up more space in your backpack and in your vault. Um so like chem grenades and EMP grenades are of that blue deluxe tier. So they take up a little more space, but before the before the fix, or should I say the patch, you can still have two. So if you br so if you filled I'm gonna try my best to say this, if you brought in Okay, you when you brought in chem grenades, one would automatically go to your grenade slot, so that's not taking up any space. And then in your backpack, if you filled two slots, that would be four chem grenades. What they done is they've cut it in half. So they've allowed you to maintain the freedom of bringing in as many grenades as you want. You can still spam grenades. It's just not times two per slot, it's just one. Now. That's the best way. You might can say it in a different way, Bat, that makes more sense. Now, for the people that play, you know exactly what I'm talking about. But I'm coming at this from the angle of somebody that likes to listen to us, but maybe hasn't logged on and they don't they haven't experienced this yet. Do you have a different way to spin that?
SPEAKER_01Um, so like if you go into a match and you have nothing on you, and your backpack has sixteen slots, um so with a grenade, if you filled every slot, you would have eight grenades now. But before you would have sixteen.
SPEAKER_02Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_01So in order to bring in you know twenty-four grenades, you're gonna have to have a very, very large backpack. Whereas before, that was a lot easier to do. Um I will say that the moment I brought in ten flichettes into our cryo, I went, oh my god, this is so much space that I just lost.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01Like my my purple backpack was full. Just with grenades.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01So it's a lot nicer.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. It's it's more it it is more difficult. You can steal grenade spam, but it's more difficult now because you just make those sacrifices. You have to make more sacrifices. Like if you it it's it's it's more difficult now to bring in ten grenades versus how it used to. It used to be a lot more simple. They just they gutted it in half. But uh I think this is um we knew this was coming. We're a little sad to see it go, because we were having fun with this, but I think this is the most fair thing they could have done. This, in my opinion, appeases both sides. There was a lot of people that was calling, was begging for this to be fixed. Hey, I can see that side of the coin because in the I I'm sure in the upper echelon, like even Madness was talking about it. Like he was saying, like, in the higher tier lobbies, grenade spamming is rough. So, you know, um despite our opinions and we were having fun with it, it probably needed to happen. So, hey, cool, bungee, I'm cool with this. Um, I'm cool with this.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I just want to throw out that like when when we say grenade spamming back in the like before the patch, it was like all three of the enemy team was going to throw 20 grenades at you. It wasn't three apiece. It was like sixty grenades getting thrown.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So now it's a lot that number is dwindled down significantly.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01So there's more of a chance of it actually being a gunfight versus them literally kind of as you've put it before, carpet bombing a hallway.
SPEAKER_02I'll keep it real too, and as it should be, we were just having fun with that meta, but going forward, the overall health of the game, it probably needed to happen. But rest in peace. It'll help it. I'm gonna miss it a little bit.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. I'm gonna miss it. I mean, I don't think I ever I don't think I ever went into like a single fight and threw like 15 grenades. I think the most I ever threw was like six in in a single fight. So it's not like we were like massively contributing to it, but we were enjoying the fact that we had that little bit more freedom with the stacked grenades. Well said.
SPEAKER_02I have I I can't I can't say it any better. Well said, well said. Um, let's talk about this a little bit. Prestige loot buff. Lockdowns, dire marsh, intercept in perimeter, and convoys in outpost can now drop prestige salvage. Is the risk of a lockdown finally worth the reward? Uh, this is a W change. I like this. Um We haven't had the opportunity to take advantage of this yet because we haven't done a lockdown in Dire Marshall. We've got caught in it! We've got caught in it, but we haven't like actually done the event. We haven't done an intercept in a while in perimeter, and we attempted a convoy and outpost, but we didn't kill it in time. But I like the idea the that this can this has a chance to drop prestige loot because correct me if I'm wrong, you really before this could only like the primary place where you would get it was cryo archive.
SPEAKER_01So I'm pretty sure the only place you could get it was cryo before.
SPEAKER_02I think so too. I like this change. Uh this uh I I got nothing but W's to say because uh it gives you incentive to go back and revisit these maps, it gives you incentive to do these events, and if luck shall be on your side, you will get a much needed superior salvage. Any thoughts, Bet?
SPEAKER_01Um, yeah, I think we're actually gonna be a bit divided this time.
SPEAKER_02Ah! Let's hear it.
SPEAKER_01I like the fact that those three now have a chance to drop it. However, I've done multiple on all like mainly the anomaly and the intercept. There was only one time that I ever got a a a a gold salvage. Okay. But that's not even the issue. Like, not the rate that they drop isn't an issue for me. The rate that these events spawn is atrocious. I have played like ten games of Dyer in a row and not seen an anomaly or a lockdown.
SPEAKER_02Oh crap. Okay.
SPEAKER_01So where's the incentive gone? Because I don't want to play them if they're not gonna drop.
SPEAKER_02Fair. Fair, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I'd rather be an outpost.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, d yeah, yeah. I mean, honestly, me too. Uh yeah, no, fair criticism. Um I also have noticed in Dire Marsh, when I'm not getting my face planted in the dirt and my teeth kicked in, that I don't see that lockdown event very often. But buddy, you better believe the one time we did not need it to appear. I ain't gonna go down that. You know, you know, you know, we talked about it. The one time we didn't need it to appear, it appeared in quarantine on a free kit run, or we couldn't do nothing about it. Anyways, going forward. Uh yeah, no, uh fair criticism.
SPEAKER_01Uh also, I I wanna throw in like there was one game that I played on dire, and I I don't remember if you were with me or if it was the other two. There was two minutes left on the clock when an anomalous m uh m an anomalous matter appeared. Which means that we would have had to run across the map, literally, because it was in complex and we were at maintenance. Get it, take it to the machine to stabilize it, and then X fill. It takes two minutes to stabilize. Why is that spawning at two minutes left on the clock? Ah, yeah, I know. Yeah. Well I I don't understand. And I've seen some of those lockdowns spawn at like five minutes. You're supposed to go to three different locations.
unknownPhew.
SPEAKER_01Crap, dude. And and do these waves of enemies to get to the third one to get your highest loot out of it. Wait, we don't have time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we don't have time. So I think is the you know, me and you were all about ideas and and and putting things out there instead of just rah-rah rah rah rah rah like a lot like like the internet like most of the internet these days. Um so would a would a idea be increase the chances of said events to spawn?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I would say an increase in um per uh spawn rate, and then I would say if they could bump them to possibly happening earlier in the game, like 15 minutes left on the clock. That should be plenty of time to do the lockdown or the anomalous.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that sounds great with me. If anybody listeners, if you have any feedback on our opinions on that, or if you have some good ideas about any of those changes, please feel free to comment in this episode or whisper us on Twitch. Anyhow, uh yeah, yeah, yeah. Good stuff, man. Good stuff. Um I had a few more things. Uh we've we've hit the We've hit the big things. Um I've got something uh I've got a little section here called the multi-year narrative plans. The long game cre uh creative director Julia Narden confirmed recently that they have a multi-year story plan regardless of current player counts. But I don't really know where this conversation is gonna lead. We might only talk about this for two minutes or we might talk about this for another 20 minutes. I don't know, but it's just still weird to me, man. Um and I'm not gonna I'm not gonna sit here and I'm not gonna dog anybody on what kind of content they choose to uh because uh what they choose to put out on YouTube, you know, you know, you know, people has the um freedom of speech to put their feelings and however they feel about a uh whatever they feel about a game company or whatever on on YouTube. Uh and for s and and I know, and I'll even take it a little bit further to say that even if I don't like and agree with a lot of the content out there right now about Marathon, you know, for a lot of these concr content creators, uh that's their income. That's how they're feeding their families. And if these, you know, looking at it from their side of the coin, if these hot and spicy thumbnails and these hot spicy conversations are what's getting views and and and feedback and engagement, and that's helping their revenue to feed their family, you know. Who am I who am I to sit here and and you know say stop that? You know, does that make sense? You kind of get what I'm saying. Like who am I to say stop what you're doing? Stop hey, stop providing money for your family. Um, with that being said, it it still irks me a little bit. bit that I that I my my I don't know why I I don't know why my YouTube algorithm I I guess because I'm clicking I I guess I just got to stop clicking the videos but like my YouTube algorithm is still showing me like this game is dead oh my gosh look at videos like look at all this money Bungie has invested in the in the games currently not even doing that good like I don't know uh okay so I guess let's let's address this bat is the is the numbers is has the game made the amount of money that that that we hoped it would is the game let's just say this bat is the game numbers and revenue speaking accomplished what we would like and hope for it accomplished no it has not um and there's a youtuber I do like that he even said most of us that play the game and that were excited about the game even knew that this game wasn't gonna pop off as big as a lot of people thought it was it's it's kind of a niche audience extraction shooters is a is kind of a niche audience and it's not as big of a crowd as like Marvel Rivals or you know like something that's more casual. Like it I mean an extraction shooter it just by nature is a more niche and hardcore type of game. But with all that being said I think where I am going to use this platform to share a little bit of my frustration is I think there's a lot out there dude for this game still I sure the numbers are currently have they kind of dipped right now but that doesn't mean this game can't make a comeback. That doesn't mean this the you know Bungie do they they they that doesn't mean they don't have an opportunity to drop an update man that just completely changes the game that drops some kind of PvE map like we've mentioned or does their experiments with something cool. This game like that I I I think at some point dude the way um and I like to hear that narratively they've got a plan to continue to back this game. I hope so I just want to see this thing through man I just want to see where this game goes because I think that they've got a lot they can work with with this like the alien race like there's like if you really tap into the lore like there's like an alien race like dude we could get a map where that like this alien race like they can make it kind of horror themed they can make it real edgy and like there's aliens all over the map and you gotta watch out for you know ali I don't dude we could talk and talk and talk about what's on the table and I I just uh I guess I would just take this opportunity to say still everybody don't let somebody if you're interested in this game please don't let it somebody just because they don't like bungee they don't like this game or they're they're talking about how this game financially is not doing good just don't let that if you want to play this game come play this game we need you we need the players we we we need more players so please don't let that sway you if you like first person shooters if you like how Halo used to play back in the day if you like how Destiny used to play back in the day and you are on the fence come try it out me and Bat I I we are we are nine to fivers we are casual gamers we've got a lot of experience we've talked a lot about this but we're but you we we honestly die more than we live but we have fun with like Fallen said we have fun with the process we make memories when the highs are there they're so fun when the dopamine hits are there the dopamine hits go hard baby um yeah any thoughts on any of that bat um that that was my little i feel like I say something like that every it's just I it's just it's it just still remains one of the hot topics about marathon just the numbers aren't there the numbers aren't good the the revenue oh bungee bungee lost all this money I I that I'm I'm getting old buddy I'm 32 I just if that jingles your bells and and that if that j you so be it I just don't invest my energy into how's Bungie doing financially all I know is man I just have fun with the game I just like the content that Bungie puts out and if I like a game I'm just gonna play the game and I'm gonna make memories with my friends. I'm I'm I'm I'm gonna that that's that's my escape from the stresses of real life and I'm just not tied up in that that Bungie lost a hundred million I'm just not invested in Bungie lost the either Bungie oh my god Bungie just made three hundred million off this game or my gosh Bungie just lost three hundred million a bad I that that doesn't affect me.
SPEAKER_01But please if you have a different opinion please speak your mind okay um I'm I'm gonna talk for a little bit um I'm I'm gonna let you know when I'm done yes so the first thing is that I want to make a little comparison even with the so-called numbers that we have playing marathon right now I remember back in the day when Dead by Daylight had large numbers of players and I would sit in that stupid queue line forever. I'm talking like twenty minutes. I've never experienced that on this game. Good point. Um so I I can't stress this enough numbers should have nothing to do with the actual gameplay of the game. It will at some point if they drop into numbers that are like abysmal but until that happens I would not stress about it. Um I think that a lot of the content creators I'm not gonna bash them or anything but I think that a lot of them could use their outlet to say hey you should try this game. We should try to be bringing more people into the game instead of showing them or telling them that you know this is bad because of this this is bad because of this no come play the game and then make that decision for yourself.
SPEAKER_02Um had some more points all good point while you're I mean all while you're thinking of that like I mean just all good points. It it's just weird like it's there's a word called called sensationalize and it's almost like there there's pee I mean those all the the people was sensationalizing like how bad this game's gonna it's just it's weird it's weird to me. But also the other side of the coin as frustrating it is on our side to hear to see that content and to hear that content you know I am not who who am I to judge for someone that makes their cheese you know you know that that that their videos that's getting this YouTube video saying oh my gosh Bungie just put out a game that's gonna fail and that video gets fifty thousand views, twenty thousand likes and that's revenue for that person that's feeding their three kids. You know what I mean? Yeah that I'm just not in a position to judge that.
SPEAKER_01I will say that I think people probably need to be careful with that because I feel like they could get hit with some lawsuits for like um uh what is that defamation? Yeah that's me too like I you know I wouldn't even be scared to I don't know where the I'd have to do my research about what's the fine lines like what's the fine lines you know what if it comes in you're the one person that influenced the world so much that you know this company lost everything. How much that would suck?
SPEAKER_02Yeah dude yeah yeah yeah um like no they're gonna get it back because they're gonna sue you until you have nothing else for the next 17 generations let's let's be clear about this too bat you know before because there's gonna come there will come a day bat if this podcast were to ever get big enough this there will come a day where somebody will be like okay well you guys are just warriors for bungee you guys just you you only you know you're you're you're you're getting paid by Bungie hey bungee come if that's the case where's the money baby because I say where's my paycheck and let me tell you something Destiny 2 I deleted that game like a year ago and I will never download it again.
SPEAKER_01So I'm not being paid by Bungie I'm not advocating for Bungie I just really like their new game and I want people to play it Bat that's such a I don't understand that that's such a hard concept please make it make sense I don't it's such a hard yeah anyways um yeah no uh if we're so I think I'll take this moment say if Bungie puts out a pooper update we're gonna talk about it and we're gonna tell y'all it's a pooper.
SPEAKER_02Hey we don't like this yeah hey they they're not hey they're they're not going a good direction with this I used to love the game Dead by daylight but God bless them behavior would do some of the dumbest things with that game dude like they would oh my gosh like these horrible metas would would linger forever cheating was an add-on all time like like it yeah like they would do some just head scratcher things that just were bad love the game but like some of the directions they took with that game just bad bad bad bad we'll say that we love this game but we'll if if they if they drop when update 1.0 point six point four whatever one comes out and it's a pooper we'll say it's a pooper.
SPEAKER_01Hey we don't like this um so I did remember something um I know you had talked about them experimenting I just want to go on on record and say do you know how many experimental things that they've done in this game? And we're just now like halfway into the third month of this game being out I know there are games like um Call of Duty they don't experiment anymore. They put out a new game and they give you all the same exact game modes that have been in the previous games it's always the same algorithm. Yes they have they're doing something so different in this game it's nuts.
SPEAKER_02Yeah I love the tests I love the experiments and we haven't even talked about this how responsive they've been to the community every time people enough people have gotten together and voiced their opinions hey we don't like grenade spamming hey we don't hey this is an issue hey the WSTR is too hot guess what in the last month bat both of those things have been patched they I mean they have been they have been now they're on let's keep it real you know they know the numbers they know a lot of the community consent right now you know they know the word on the street they're on they're they're doing damage control and quite frankly I think they're trying to right a lot of wrongs from Destiny days because I think a lot of metas and a lot of frustratings went left. I think that's why that's a whole nother 20 minute conversation but I think that's why a lot of the people also have a bad taste maybe about this game and maybe about Bungie is some of the they got PTSD from Destiny because a lot of bad things went left untouched with Destiny that has not been the case with Marathon. It has been the opposite even if if enough people get together and say hey we don't like this hey we don't like grenade spamming they have they immediately patched grenade spamming yeah I mean like even if they like die off of like doing that as much it's it it's insane to me how much they've done even if it's just in damage control in just two and a half months that is nuts to me.
SPEAKER_01I know yeah like how many patches have we had how many you know different types of gameplay we had do you do you remember we had duos? Yeah we had I I thought Dun forgot about duos like we had duos and then it was sponsored kits and different duos and then they brought in cryo so much has happened in two and a half months I feel like I've been playing this game for a year.
SPEAKER_02I feel well said I feel like I've been playing this game for a year that goes back to what I was saying earlier. When I see this is this is the last thing I want to say about it because I don't want to live in the negative when I see some of these videos it's just a little frustrating for me because I I just think there's a there's a lot out there for this game dude I think there's a lot to get excited about um if you can handle the hardcore nature of this game I think they will find ways to ease the burden sorry if you hear my son he he he's lighting it up in the background he is lighting it up um so but I think they will find ways to ease the burden I think they'll bring some some new ideas to I know ideas are coming maps are coming maybe even some game mode some new mechanics I lie I I'm excited about what's coming down the pipe and I'll have a little laugh I'm not gonna lie to you I I'll have a little laugh if they if in the future they they start putting out a lot of things that drastically changes the game and it and it causes a a good like like like it like the game makes a 360 comeback like that we should probably talk about this on the next episode what are some games that did not have a good launch but the but are now successful thriving games I'm gonna tell you one that I think that already kinda comes to my mind two that comes to my mind cyberpunk 2077 and uh No Man's Sky. Those are two games if memory serves me right they did they had bad launches the launch bad launches the games were but buggy but especially cyberpunk but now they're great games now um I mean I could be remembering it wrong but I if I remember correctly there was a lot of flack uh surrounding Fortnite when it first launched yeah look at where Fortnite is now look at Fortnite now yeah um billions billions of dollars in revenue I was I was also thinking when you were talking earlier about your your like introducing different things how cool would it be if there was like a story mission where you could go in and play as all the different like runner shells and kind of learn their backstories. Yeah um kind of like um you remember Apex when they introduced revenant oh yeah and they changed like everything went dark and you had to kill like these little raptors that stuff was so cool when that happened it was um I could see them doing something similar in this game if dude and I think this is so attainable like now Bungie if any of y'all are listening to this podcast which I hope you are welcome by the way um you you've gotta you gotta keep the content coming though. I I know I I don't I according to the according to the the internet world the revenue the you know the the the the the there's been money lost whatever I I I ain't gonna get into all that but you to keep this game alive though you gotta keep the content pumping out because there was a good game I this is not a good comparison but that's where Texas Chainsaw Massacre kind of fell short. The dude I remember I mean I looked on there one day like when that game kind of first came out it had like a hundred and eighty thousand active viewers on Twitch and that game was so fun but it died so quick because of our very fast. It died so fast.
SPEAKER_01It was a content drought that just didn't it was like a I remember I think it was like a week and like nobody was playing anymore.
SPEAKER_02It was it was I don't r I I don't remember quite when it died but I remember it was like on top of the world and then it was just that absolute rock bottom. Bungie you gotta keep the content coming you gotta you you gotta kinda give us you know if if there's a long content group drought I I I do fear for what what the sentiment would become and the player count. So that will be up to them we have no control on that bat that will be ultimately up to Bungie on how creative do they get how hard how bad do they really want to make this how bad do they really truly want to change the public opinion and make that big turnaround and and pull in some more casuals and pull in some people maybe with like a strike mode something that leans into the PvE side a little bit more something that encourages you to work together. Dude there's just a lot out there man that this cool story they have with this supposed alien race dude like a new map like we gotta at some point get a new map man where we got the same formula you know you know defeat the enemy gun down the enemy runners on site but instead of UESC it's this alien race and there's bosses there's like enemy dude there's just there's so much out there bat there's so much out there for this game also bungee if you're if you're if you do end up listening to this um I'm pretty sure that you could get ideas from either old town or I and I will gladly accept paychecks into my account just gonna throw it out there just gonna throw that out there will be will they will gladly take a job so uh oh man well bat this has been a great episode you already know what I'm about to say bat please tell the world where what platforms where can they find you where can the listeners find you should be able to hear me a little bit better than the last one um I am on Twitch at True Batman4444 um all lowercase.
