Morning Welcome And Series Setup

SPEAKER_00

Well, good morning. Happy Friday. You made it to the end. It is day five of our devotional series. If God was felt hunger, then what is our excuse? And today we're looking at the same power. See, when we're out on the water running the flats, you can have a perfectly tuned outboard motor sitting on the transome. But if you refuse to engage the throttle, you're just drifting with the current. In other words, you could have the best motor known to man, but if you are not putting it in gear and giving it some gas, you aren't going anywhere. You have all the power you could need, but you aren't using it. And as believers, we do the exact same thing with our faith. If you call yourself a Christian, if you go, hey, I believe Jesus is exactly who he claimed to be, then Romans 11 lays out this massive, life-altering truth. The exact same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is currently living inside of you. Think about the magnitude of that for a second. When Lazarus was raised from the dead, he hopped out of the tomb, still wrapped in his grave clothes. Someone else had to untie him. But when Jesus walked out of the tomb, the graveclothes were folded up and left behind. He wasn't tied down by anything. We constantly walk around acting like we don't have the strength to fix our negative attitudes, to lead our families well, to break the addictions in our life. We act like we are dead in the water, but the power to push that stone away, the power to leave your grave clothes behind is already inside of you. Our challenge today is this real lasting change doesn't start on a massive public stage. It starts right in your own living room. It's in the quiet, unglamorous moments. It's how you talk to your spouse when you're both dead tired. It's how you handle your kids when they push every single button you have. It's how you react when a project falls apart at the last minute, or plans change, or a friend gives bad news. See, we love to play the victim to our circumstances and our own flesh. But you are without excuse because the horsepower to change has already been provided in you. If the Holy Spirit can resurrect the Son of God, he can absolutely help you conquer your pride, your anxiety, your laziness, whatever it is. The question isn't whether you can change, the question is, do you want to change? Or are you just more comfortable drifting along? Our action step today is this pick one thing that you know needs to change today and make it look more like Jesus. Just one thing. Don't try to tackle everything at once and overwhelm yourself, but ask the Holy Spirit to engage that power inside of you and actively conquer that single piece of your flesh and let the change start today. We can't wait to see you this Sunday at 9 a.m. 8 40 Del Tona Boulevard as we jump into Matthew chapter 4, verses 3 through 11 and the temptations of Jesus. Make sure you share this with someone who needs it, and we love you, we thank you, and we can't do this without you.
