Let your light shine Day 3

Darkness feels powerful when you treat it like an equal opponent to light. We challenge that assumption with a simple, almost “physics-like” way to think about spiritual warfare: darkness is not a force that advances on its own, it’s what’s left when light is absent. That one shift changes how we view fear, temptation, and the quiet compromises that creep into daily life.
We ground the conversation in Scripture, from Genesis where God separates light from darkness, to John 1 where Jesus is named the light the darkness cannot overcome. Then we get painfully practical. I share a moment in a Publix aisle where I saw a grown man in tears and felt a clear nudge to pray, but I chose comfort and silence instead. By the time I turned back, he was gone and the opportunity went with him.
That story opens up the real battleground: social self-preservation. We don’t want to look strange, we don’t want to get too personal, and we don’t want to risk rejection. But when we hide our light at home, at work, and in public, we unintentionally give darkness space to stay. We end with a clear action step for Christian living: notice the Holy Spirit’s promptings, obey quickly, and bring light into ordinary moments through prayer, kindness, and courage.

Midweek Encouragement And Setup
SPEAKER_00Happy Wednesday. Hope you're doing good. The week is halfway there. You're making it. You're gonna get to the end of it. Well, today let's talk about the physics of spiritual warfare. That's right. Physics in the spiritual realm. Number one, have you noticed lately how much talk about multiple realms there are? Uh-oh. Seems like that barrier might be breaking down. So we may want to get into what that means for us, but let's start with this. In Genesis, God separated the light from the darkness. In John 1, we learn that Jesus is the light and the darkness cannot overcome it. See, we too often look at darkness as an opposing and equal force to light. However, all darkness is is the absence of light. In other words, darkness can't push into light. You cannot make a room dark without turning off the lights, like we saw on Monday. This means that the only way the devil claims territory in your life, in your home, at your job, in your city, wherever you are going, is if you intentionally hide your light. Because if your light is shining, the devil cannot bring light or darkness to it. So our challenge today is this is I told a story on Sunday about walking through Publix with Debbie. There was a guy walking down the aisle, and he was just absolutely in tears. And he was this big, like manly looking guy, and everything inside of me was screaming, just ask him what's wrong. Pray with him. But no, I put a lampshade on and went, I'm I'm I'm not doing that. I thought, I don't know him. And that's a very intimate thing to ask someone. And so I just walked right past him. And Debbie rightfully went, No, if you if the Holy Spirit is telling you to pray, go pray. And by the time I turned around to go back, he was gone. We looked through the whole store and could not find him again. Now, how many times do we do exactly that in our lives? We feel the Holy Spirit nudge us and we walk right by out of social self-preservation. I don't want to be the weird one. I'm gonna stay right here where it's comfortable. Not gonna fly too close to the sun. But what we don't realize is we're losing ground in spiritual warfare. Not because the darkness is too strong, but because we refuse to shine our light in the darkness. Because we are too silent. Remember, darkness can't come for the light. Where the light is, darkness cannot be. Now, we can turn that light off, which is what we tend to do. So our action step today is this is pay attention to the nudges today. When you feel the prompting to ask someone how they're doing, or just simple, simply offer a God bless you, take it, do it. Because that's the Holy Spirit who knows and sees so much more than we ever can. Obey instantly, regardless of how foolish it might make you feel. Bring the light to the darkness. So I hope you have a great Wednesday, and I'll catch you tomorrow morning.
