Peace is easy to celebrate and hard to practice, especially when you feel like the other person should go first. Today we anchor ourselves in Romans 5:8, where the gospel refuses to wait for ideal conditions: “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” That single line dismantles the way most of us handle conflict, forgiveness, and reconciliation. If Jesus initiated peace when we were still a mess, what does that mean for the relationships we keep on hold until someone finally says the right words?

We also lean into Isaiah 9:6, where the Messiah is named the Prince of Peace, and we get honest about what that title costs. Jesus left the comfort of glory to step into our flesh-and-blood conflict, and He did not attach stipulations to His obedience. That becomes a mirror for our daily discipleship: we often wait for an apology, a behavior change, or a sign of effort before we offer grace. But peace doesn’t grow in a standoff, it grows when someone is brave enough to move first.

From marriage counseling patterns to everyday tension with family, friends, and coworkers, we talk about the “power game” that keeps homes loud on the outside and cold on the inside. You’ll hear a simple challenge: you can’t control your spouse, your kids, or anyone else, but you can control you. Drop the standoff, take one clear step toward peace, and let Christ shape your tone, your timing, and your courage.
