SPEAKER_01We found the bad guy. And well, she I mean, maybe she's a bad guy.
SPEAKER_03She really brings the energy down in the room. So, Genova, I think I will conjure lightning. Yes. And I just curl that in her direction.
SPEAKER_01She gets up on way too many limbs, and she will kind of climb sideways down the side of the little rise that she's on. One of those weird limbs coming out from under the cloth curls itself at you, becomes kind of this mass of reconfigured flesh. Your muscles hesitate for about a split sec before you recover after this hit.
SPEAKER_05Guys, I I'm scared. My my plan is no longer, I don't think it's gonna work.
SPEAKER_01And now the layer action happens. So the air in the cave stills to the point where sound doesn't sound like it's traveling right anymore. Everyone is now going to have disadvantage on wisdom saves against her. Shh. Dalos. Make a wisdom save. Yeah, I know. At disadvantage.
SPEAKER_05I know. I would like to cast Beacon of Hope in the center of it grants advantage on wisdom saving throws.
SPEAKER_01Wow. Now it is Drumash's turn. Oh, and Dromash needs to make a wisdom saving throw. Uh you're gonna guess he's not super great at those. Oh, oh no. No, he did, he didn't make it. It's so hard out here. The only one who understands me. The only one who understands me, boonie.
SPEAKER_04So I am going to use Shadow Blade with my arm to like throw it at her. That's a net 20. Okay, so does that Yeah, it is 76.
SPEAKER_01She takes all of that. So that brings us to Dromash.
SPEAKER_05Dromache! Come on, dromash! Drumshrame dromash just gonna get it.
SPEAKER_01He rolled a 19 on the time! Each job is her ass prone. It's done. Stop. You will have to carry the noise yourselves.
SPEAKER_05We did it. I don't feel good. I don't feel good there.
SPEAKER_01That's what we're going for. Good. Yes. A few moments later, you see a few people from like where you entered the chamber. I'm on the other side. You see a few people who are clearly lanterns. One of them, she just walks up right up to Put Drum Ash and it's good to see you, Wick. Alright. Now listen, y'all, we we got it from here. Um, you should go report this to Keldora. Y'all walk in into Keldora's office. Do you understand what you stopped? An S-rank warrant inside city walls is unthinkable. You did exactly what was needed.
SPEAKER_04Did we prove it? Are we proven?

Okay, I want I want a scoop of grease from the grill and then a cup of moonshine. So, excellent. Well, as you all arrive at the lantern hall the following morning, Dromash is waiting for you again. But instead of sleeping, this time he is awake and pacing around. Hey, I was starting to get paranoid. Thought we might have run you off. Nah, bro, just needed a good night's sleep and some food, and now everything's better. Excellent. Absolutely. No, I I'm the same way. I had already like fist bumps and Yeah. Bro. Bromute triangle for the win.
SPEAKER_05Bromute triangle.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So, um. He will continue. I'm not supposed to spoil the details, but just so you know, you don't have to have the oath memorized like I did.
SPEAKER_05You had to have the m oath memorized.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. No, I had to pull an all-nighter to get it done. I put an MLT in front of me on the table and said, no bites for dromash until you get it right. I got it done. But then I had that MLT.
SPEAKER_05Meat, lettuce, tomato.
SPEAKER_01Or mutton, lettuce and tomato. Mutton, lettuce, and tomato. I'm glad it worked for you. Venari's just imagining like everything in the sandwich just going gross as she's trying and failing to memorize over and over again. Because if it was a BLT, the first thing that's going is all the bacon grease is going to soak into the lettuce, and it's just it's going to be a bad time. Oh, why do you think I got it done so fast? I had to get to that MLT so it didn't get ruined. Gotta find your motivation, bro. Yeah. That's what does it for me. A good MLT.
SPEAKER_00Sag a good MLT.
SPEAKER_01So, uh, inside the lantern hall, the atmosphere has shifted slightly. Uh, you may make an inside check to notice.
SPEAKER_05I want to roll really hard.
SPEAKER_01And a meteor descends from the heavens, and what did you roll? The meteor says.
SPEAKER_05Thirteen.

SPEAKER_01But now I got a dirty twenty. No, it lets you. Did did the one did the dice that hate you finally flee? Yeah, did.
SPEAKER_03Ah, dirty twenty.

SPEAKER_01Dirty twenty. Alright, three dirty twenties. Twin in. I did not. Yeah, Dalos, you don't know which one makes sense.
SPEAKER_05I don't know what these who these people are. Organics are confusing guys. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01None of them display their emotions on helpful little LED, you know, things. Like, it's just you gotta figure it out by by context and stuff.
SPEAKER_04It's this cool thing called body language.
SPEAKER_01That's why not spot. But yes, uh, everybody except for Dalos will notice. Rather than walking past and busying themselves with like anything but the unknown upstarts who just blazed into town, the people in the lantern hall are actually starting to acknowledge you a little bit. There's a slight nod, a little smile here and there, and in a very short time you have made an im like a positive impact on the lanterns and earned some respect. So suddenly we have a reputation.
SPEAKER_04Not dying on our first mission.
SPEAKER_01Saving the city on your first mission is pretty good. Pretty good way of doing that. Uh-huh. But yeah, so you you can uh he will he will bring you up to Saren, who is sitting in her usual detached kind of position. Um, which you will look up. Are you prepared? I feel like Venaria is picking that up, she's not gonna let she's not gonna be a like like uh professional about it all, especially since it's early in the morning. So she's gonna do just a big wave to everybody if like makes eye contact. She is expecting you. And then she will lift the counter hatch for you, but she will otherwise remain seated.
SPEAKER_00Wow.
SPEAKER_01I give Saren a little like three-finger wave as I walk through. Oh, she's looking at you. Yes.
SPEAKER_05Hey, hey, we got her to open the counter for you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. That's by itself. Take take the victories where you can.
SPEAKER_04She's not looking at you.
SPEAKER_01What do you think about God damn drum ash will kind of head head on back? Uh basically you're just heading into the back but staying on the first floor. Kind of through a hallway to the side of those those stairs you had been taking. We have a room for this. Nothing fancy, but that's actually kind of the point. So, uh, the room in the back is bare. There's no decorations, no banners, no symbols of rank. It is an austere space with nothing but a small plain table in the center of the room. Keldora is standing with her back to the doorway on the far side and will turn to face as face you as you enter. And uh she will look at each member of the party in turn and give just the barest hint of a smile.
SPEAKER_02You almost would have missed it. She likes this.
SPEAKER_01In her hand she carries an old lantern. It is worn with age and youth. Its edges are smoothed with touch. The light from within shines through once clear glass distorted just enough to notice. There is nothing about it which would mark it as special, but something about the lamp that kind of lingers. She will set it down with care, adjusting its angle so the light falls on you. It's radioactive. Congratulations, you are now all sterile.
SPEAKER_04It is a radium lamp. Too late.
SPEAKER_01Uh you forget half your life. Damn it. Um, was that a radiation joke? The half-life? Yeah, you know. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Unintentional, but yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um is a win. Yes. Uh she will then stand before each of you, giving a brief once-over, kind of looking you up and down, and then hand you each a sheet of paper, and return to her place on the other side of the table. And she will gesture to the sheets in your hands. And read it before you speak it. Venaria actually like steps forward since since the first line is I lift the lantern, she actually doesn't pick it up, but like puts her hand on top of it. Do you understand what you are about to swear? Yes. I've it's what I would have done anyway, even if my family weren't here. And even if even if my friends weren't here, this would be the path for me. But I'm glad that I'm not walking it alone. Nod look at the group of you. Stand where the light can see you. I lift the lantern to face the dark.
SPEAKER_03I will not turn away, nor look kindly. I will name what stands before us. I will not soften danger with hope.
SPEAKER_01I will speak when the dead do not rest.
SPEAKER_03I will deny life that refuses its end. I will keep the contract or return with truth. I will choose restraint over ruin.
SPEAKER_01I will answer the bell though it cost me.
SPEAKER_03I will accept judgment by what remains. This I swear not to be ruined, but for those who come after.
SPEAKER_01Once you have finished with the oath, Kildora will nod. Yeah. She seemed to be a little bit moved herself. It is witnessed. She will then walk to each of you and place one of those lantern pins that you've seen all the lanterns wear. She will put one in each of your hands, looking into your eyes just long enough to confirm that you meant what you said before moving on. And once everyone has a pen, she will step back and never watching this. Thirsty, thirsty bitch. Once everyone has a pen, she will step back and address you once more. You are bound to the charter now. Stand by it. And then the lantern's light flickers a little bit. And outside, very faintly, you can hear a bell ring.
SPEAKER_05Four times, perhaps?
SPEAKER_01No, no, no. It's not that kind of bell. It's just a lunch bell. Somebody accidentally rung it. Damn it, Jim. False alarm. Anyway, but Dromash will start clapping. He's got a big goofy dragon grin on his face. You're one of us now! Welcome to the lantern. I step over to Dromesh and like just give him a big like bro hug. Yeah, he's he's ecstatic. He's so happy for y'all.
SPEAKER_05They also clasp arms again.
SPEAKER_04There's just like a dromash hand-sized dent in your arm. It's just worn in for now.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. There's a whole handle.
SPEAKER_03Cinova bows her head and says, Thank you, Keldora. We will honor this oath where with our lives.
SPEAKER_01As it should be. Excellent.
SPEAKER_04Lunette's whole response is it's like, at least I didn't have to sign a contract.
SPEAKER_01This is the verbal contract. Yeah. But Keldora will pick up the lantern and gently blow out the flame.
SPEAKER_04Is that what she sounds like?
SPEAKER_01Your time is your own now. You are free to choose those warrants which suit your abilities and qualifications. I would recommend registering as a free company if you wish to take warrants higher than C rank. This would also give you room to grow should you wish to recruit any lanterns to your cause. For now, I wish you luck in your endeavors. Rest assured, you will be hearing from me again soon. Thank you, ma'am. And she will she will give a little a little polite bow, but she's clearly warmed up to you all a little bit. Nice. And then she will uh take take the very fancy, very old kind of beat up lantern and wander off.
SPEAKER_04Welcome to the lanterns! Yeah! We did it, boys.
SPEAKER_01You government workers now. I was gonna say this seems more like a private security firm, but whatever. We get healthcare. Yeah, I was gonna say. So I'm gonna turn I turned to Drummond. It's like, okay, so where do we register as a free company? Well, just real quick, let's get your uh pins set up. Oh, okay. Everybody. It's real simple. All you gotta do is attach it to your collar, put two fingers on it, and hold in there for 15 seconds.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01I promise you you will feel it when it's synced up. That's what anyway.
SPEAKER_04Is it a magnet? You have a magnet?
SPEAKER_01You you can you it doesn't have to technically be on your collar, it's just you you need to touch it to use it. So wherever is convenient for for you, I guess.
SPEAKER_05Well, I was I was fine with like doing the colour thing. It's I just don't know.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, you you you put it there, you hold it for 15 seconds, and then you feel a very mild stabbing pain in the back of your mind.
SPEAKER_05Oh Jesus. Mild stabbing pain.
SPEAKER_01Right. Yeah. Mild stabbing pain. I chose those words on purpose. Like a migraine. Like a like a very tiny, very quick migraine.
SPEAKER_04Yes, that's the lady who takes migraine medication.
SPEAKER_01Um and then there's like this white noise that thrums into your perception for a moment before it subsides.
SPEAKER_04And that's like, oh god, there's another one.
SPEAKER_01So once everybody has that that moment of uh you'll see Dromash will put two fingers to his pen for a moment, and then just like a moment later, you get this burst of information. It's very distinctly from Dromash, but it's not words. It's the idea of success.
SPEAKER_05His perspective.
SPEAKER_01Well, it's you're you're left with like the lingering thought of him going giving two thumbs up, going like, yeah, coming up. You know, like, yeah, we did it.
SPEAKER_04So it's like it's not it's not quite telepathy, it's just kind of like implied telepathy.
SPEAKER_01If you if you base it off of what just happened to you, is it words aren't what it can communicate, but it can give concepts.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_01So he just sent the the concept of success to you. And his version of that kind of is like, hey, yeah. Huh?
SPEAKER_03Oh, I think that might be called Claire Cognizance.
SPEAKER_01Something like that, yeah. Yeah, it's it's like it it basically it allows you to communicate, but it has certain limitations.
SPEAKER_05You have like a danger, safe, cool, awesome, sad, happy, f oh shit oh shit oh shit, oh shit, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well they uh you know you will you will find kind of over time just above the table that there are there there are certain kind of ideas that they train you to do because you have to think about it. So yeah, there are certain things like yes, no, danger. Come get this shit. You know, that that kind of thing. Everyone is our automatically, can you send do you want to go out? You're saying can you send a you up?
SPEAKER_04Meanwhile, anybody anybody unfortunate enough to be close enough to Lunette in any combat situation is just gonna hear oh shit, oh shit, oh shit, oh shit. Like the concept of warning, warning. The concept of oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck, oh fuck oh fuck.
SPEAKER_05Is it like like can can Delos try to like tap against it and go directly to Venaria and uh say like question?
SPEAKER_01There yeah, actually part of what Dromash will tell you is there are kind of three modes that you can do this with. One is direct to one person there is uh you kind of sync up with a group and you can send it to the group. And then there is the group chats. Yes. Essentially, yeah, so like you if you set up free company, you would have like a group chat with your free company. Okay. And then I didn't even think about that. Yeah, it's like a group chat. Sorry. Um our Facebook group. But then the the third version is like just kind of generally broadcast. Okay. That tends to be pretty frowned upon unless something actually is happening.
SPEAKER_04Please do not add everyone in the chat.

SPEAKER_01You will be muted so fast. Um yeah, so that's that is what the lantern pins do, and probably why a lot of them look like they've been touched a lot. So Yay.

SPEAKER_01Well, you all kind of start heading that way. And you take a turn. And that looks awful familiar. And you take another turn. That looks really familiar.

SPEAKER_01Yeah, you you take a left this time, thinking you'll change it up, and in front of you SPR is a right. Is is a is is a right. No, uh it in front of you you see an unremarkable building. It's made of pretty much the same sandstone as everything else around it. Except there's bright red varnished double doors engraved with the letters G G on the front. And on there is a small handwritten sign that says, please knock. And as you watch, you actually see people walk in and out of this place. And they don't even they're they're like the door's not even there. But you see the door. Lunette, you're in Lausarnton.
SPEAKER_05I was hoping to go to the forge first.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, well, I'm sure she has other plans. Clearly. Uh Lunette's gonna go up and with her metal arm she's gonna knock on the door.
SPEAKER_01Uh you disappear.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, hey.
SPEAKER_05Daeless will follow suit.
SPEAKER_01Dailus also disappears. Aria disappears.
SPEAKER_00Knock knock knock.
SPEAKER_01Excellent. And then yes, Jenova disappears. I like how this used to freak y'all out, and now it's just like, okay, yeah. Um but yes, so once once you all have entered, you will find yourselves arranged in a straight line, standing at parade rest in a dark, boundless chamber, with periodic fluorescent lights hanging by chains from the ceiling over a series of tall shelves. The darkness outside the pools of light holds whispers and promises of power that can just barely be heard. A service bell sits on a narrow pedestal in front of you, directly in the center of one of the pools of light.
SPEAKER_04Uh with her metal arm, Lynette's gonna walk up and just like eyes rolling, annoyed body posture, just like ding.
SPEAKER_01So you didn't see any movement or anything, but suddenly from behind you.
SPEAKER_04Well, damn, I was wondering if y'all was gonna show up. Sorry, we were busy trying to uh not die under the city.
SPEAKER_02Oh, is that what y'all were doing? Uh-huh. Oh hi. Hi, granny. Well, how are you doing, sugar? I'm doing good.
SPEAKER_05Is this spider granny again?
SPEAKER_01She just looks like a little little old woman. Okay. Um, she's she's got thick glasses and her hair is in a she's got gray hair in a beehive.
SPEAKER_04Do not be fooled. They lose his own.
SPEAKER_01Behind you is a young man in a black suit with blonde hair and a mask over his face. You don't recognize it.

SPEAKER_01As uh members of the the lantern hall, I would be happy to do the labor of putting the weapons together for you. But there's two things. One, I cannot put it on something that's already been enchanted. So we can either disenchant what you want to put it on, or I'll have to make it from scratch. Either way, I don't have the material. You're gonna have to go grab that. But it can be any materium. It has to be aligned with Ayestis, a lore of law and order. So you'll have to go to a village called Oldstone. And there you can get it. And bring it back here, and I will be happy to put the weapons together for you.
SPEAKER_04And how far away is this village?
SPEAKER_01Uh it's about three days away.
SPEAKER_04How how uh safe would you say on a scale of like one to fucked is the journey?
SPEAKER_01Oh well, that's we we patrol like the village rings. That's that's an area that we have pretty nailed down. It it shouldn't be hard trip at all.
SPEAKER_04I believe the last time we heard that, we got our asses handed to us by a sneaky little necromancer, and it culminated into us flying into KM through a portal.

SPEAKER_05Um, as a middle worker, I am am pretty new here. Um I think so. I was curious about your use of materium and how you do it. Is it is it a secret? Is it not something I can do, or can I can I learn about that?
SPEAKER_01You absolutely could. I uh I wouldn't call myself a teacher. However, there's the uh the studium. You could you could take a course there.
SPEAKER_05I was curious specifically about the properties of this aligned materium. I I I can't say I'm familiar with it as well.
SPEAKER_01Well, materium aligned with a yestis. The uh the Aelor of Law and Order. People make oaths in in in her name, and the oath stones help sanctify those words. So it's uh kind of self-perpetuating at this point. Yes, okay, above above the table. Basically, they would get one of these oath stones, uh, and then if you like stand on it and make your agreement or give your oath, then it's uh perceived as sanctified in the eyes of Augustus.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_01So people like to get these for like marriages or business contracts.

SPEAKER_01Uh, well, it is part of their business. So I would imagine, you know, there might be a bit of a of a limit, but uh, you know, if you do the water cry imagine they'll let you keep what you get.
SPEAKER_04Like a lot, a lot for the arm, I'm thinking. So like I'm wondering.
SPEAKER_01Oh. The basically what you're going to need to get is ten chunks of materium per person. If you all want one of these weapons made, then you'll each need ten chunks of material.
SPEAKER_04Above the table, you, Alex, would that be like the thick the thing that I had planned? Would that be something that you would allow?
SPEAKER_01Do your hand and then knives or something. Like a group of five knives, but you'll have to keep track of them and retrieve them when you use them.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I can do that.
SPEAKER_01Okay. There you go. That will work. But yes, you you get the materium, I'll be happy to put it together for you. Other than that, that's that's all we need. What's your right? What's your usual price for this labor? Oh, you're with the lanterns. I don't I'm not gonna charge you. Um I mean if you need it repaired in the future, yeah, I'll charge you for that for maintenance, but but for this, you know, it's in our best interest that you have what you need to do your job.
SPEAKER_04Do you think maybe over the next couple of days after we get the material you could kind of help me take a deeper look at this thing? Lunette's kind of moving it around at the wrist because it feels like a real limb. Like she can feel it.
