All right, welcome back to another week of Still Figuring It Out. I'm Josh with Britt. How was your week, man? Pretty good.
SPEAKER_00Stayed pretty busy at it. It's been hot. Yeah. Seems like most people are in vacation mode, a lot of people out driving all hours of the night. Yeah, town is uh really busy today. Yeah. Yeah, it was getting through that traffic. Of course, we had that that cornhole tournament. What did you say the name of it was?
SPEAKER_01When we went, you know, Saturday we went to the Red White and Boom in Tishmingo. Yep, that was it. Yeah, so that was that was a lot of fun, man. It was a it was a good turnout. I had a lot of vendors, a lot of people. You know, I had I had a good time there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I did too. That was that was real fun. It was hot. It was definitely hot, you know. That's expensive.
SPEAKER_01I had mixed emotions about the the start time for the cornhole tournament, you know, because seven o'clock was supposed to start and it was still really hot, but we ended up starting at 830. 830 ish.
SPEAKER_00And uh but I mean In hindsight, I I I liked that because it was a yeah, it was a lot cooler by that time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and it was it was cool playing in the dark, you know, playing with like the little glow hole deals, and I mean that was fun. So um we won. Yeah, is that the first tournament you've ever won? Yeah, cool. Uh huh. Yeah, that was fun. So that was good. You know, we won, we got a little bit of money, $25 each. Got a little uh got a necklace, big necklace. My daughter loved that necklace. Yeah, my my kids have been playing with it. I I have no idea where it is because they've they've taken it. So, but I mean it that's cool though. And then, you know, this week it's been Fourth of July week, which nothing really happened this week for us. I mean, no fireworks or anything.
SPEAKER_00No, not yet. I think we'll probably do a little something, something tonight. Do you usually get fireworks?
SPEAKER_01Man, I not really. I'm I don't really care to pop fireworks, you know.
SPEAKER_00I like to watch it, but yeah, I don't like to spend my money on them.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they're just crazy money, and and if I'm gonna buy them, I'm gonna go buy the most expensive ones. So I just I try to stay away from it. But Infinity sent me sent me a text a little earlier about her sister's gonna come over with her daughter and they're gonna have like little sparklers and you know, little smoke bombs and stuff like that. So we'll probably sit out here and do those a little later.
SPEAKER_00But are are any of your kids like the type that they don't just want to watch fireworks, that they want to be the ones lighting them up?
SPEAKER_01Well, actually, our kids are terrified of them. Like they're afraid of the big booms, you know. So so they they like watching them from a way, way far off distance. But up close are not a big fan. I mean, they do with the little bitty ones, you know, but the the boom ones they're just like eh, we're good on those.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I'm sure if we get some, my daughter's gonna want to light them. And yeah. I'm just trying to think what what age, you know, is old enough to be.
SPEAKER_01Let me let me ask you, are you the guy that holds a Roman Roman candle, or do you put it in like a bottle or something and then light it? I'd hold it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I've always held them.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I used to hold like black cats and try to throw those off. At the last second? Yeah. At a couple close calls. I thought, yeah, that's probably not a good idea. I wouldn't be doing that for my daughter.
SPEAKER_01No, yeah. I uh me and my me and my cousin Jonathan, we used to do some stupid stuff with fireworks. We used to have Roman candle fights, you know, with each other. And I look back as an adult and I'm like, golly, what an idiot, you know? So but but no, yeah, so that's what we're gonna do tonight. I'm gonna paint some stars in my yard today. That should be cool. And I'm gonna do some red, white, and blue stars. I mean, I don't know, I don't know if you've seen my house at night, but I have those trim lights and their American flag, they're going. I got my banners out there and my flags in the flower bed. And like I said, I've I just got my yard mode yesterday and got it cut a little shorter than usual. That way I could paint those stars and have some red, white, and blue stars in the yard. So I seen it on I seen it on Facebook. I seen it on a on a little reel, and I was like, oh, that's pretty cool. So we're gonna we're gonna try it. We're gonna see how it works. I mean, that guy might have done a lot better job than I'm gonna do. I mean, it might I might have white, white, red, white, and blue circles in my yard, much or blobs of paint than than actual. Your kids will like it anyway. No, yeah, it'll be cool. We'll we'll make the best of it. So But yeah. Well, got any plans for the Fourth of July, like tomorrow?
SPEAKER_00I mean Oh, we'd typically go out to my great aunt. She lives on Texoma out by Bridgeville there and may go light some fireworks, definitely get some get some food. Yeah, there's gotta be food involved.
SPEAKER_01Anytime, Fourth of July. I don't think of much fireworks as much as I do food and cookout.
SPEAKER_00In any event. If it's Thanksgiving, Christmas, like we better be eating something.
SPEAKER_01That's how I am like, what kind of food's gonna be there? You know, like who's is there gonna be is there gonna be food there for one? Like, it's if there's not any food there, then I'm not gonna go. But if there's food there, you're you might you'll probably see me there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, especially, you know, you're gonna know the ones that can really cook and can go all the out and you know, offer to bring some cups or something. Right. Maybe napkins, you know.
SPEAKER_01You know, well, you know, they have the I don't know if you've ever been to the July 4th up on the hill.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they have a good, a good cookout, you know, they shoot off a lot of fireworks. It's a good time, you know. They have a lot of fun up there on the hill. So we've we've never I've never gone with my family or anything, but I mean, I remember when I was younger. Oh yeah. I used to go up there when I was younger, you know. So it's it's fun. But but yeah, man, uh 4th of July is always just a scary time around here, you know, just people driving drunk or just doing something dumb. I mean, something always bad happens at the lake.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there's always something.
SPEAKER_01And I I hate it, you know. And that's one reason why I try not to go out very much, man. I'm just stay out of the way of those those people.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, especially if you got your whole family with you. It's uh a pretty big risk.
SPEAKER_01And and you know, I know a lot of people enjoy it and and and that's fine. I just like I said, I'm I'm too scared of not what I'm gonna do, but what other somebody else is gonna do. Exactly. So if you if you're going out, just be careful, you know, just watch out for people, which by the time this is post, you know, heard it's already gonna be the day after, you know. So so yeah, I just I just pray y'all y'all are careful and y'all made it through the weekend safe.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But I mean, you know, if you're going to a party, there's a lot of people that could drive you, and of course, obviously nowadays you got Uber and some of those things that Yeah, well call call me, man. Spending 15, 20 bucks on a ride is a lot cheaper than a DUI or or a a death. So Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_01So uh interesting week in the NBA, right? Yeah. A lot of a lot of moving pieces. Jalen Brown got moved to Philadelphia, and then you know, which obviously Paul George and that same tray went to Boston, and Kawhi Leonard goes from the Clippers to the Toronto, and Giannis goes from Milwaukee to Miami.
SPEAKER_00LeBron said he's he's leaving, and his list has kind of changed a couple times on who he's willing to go to.
SPEAKER_01So let me ask you, would you want him to play for the Thunder?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01Really?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I I I think if you're a team that's competing already, I don't think you want to change the dynamics of your team. Now if he's gonna take if he's gonna take a a minimum of that minimum, I may have to think about it. But Well he I mean he doesn't say money's not an issue. Yeah. I mean, I I personally I probably wouldn't if if I was if I was a Cavs fan, if I was a Warriors fan, if I was a Sixers fan, those kind of teams that are I mean, I know the Cavs went to the the semifinals, but they're they're not really there yet.
SPEAKER_01You know, I think I'd probably look at it differently, but well, I I think it's safe to say that the Thunder and the Spurs both are there. And let me tell you, I'm the exact opposite. I'm saying bring on LeBron James of San Antonio. Like I I want LeBron James so bad, you know. Who's their GM? Popovich? Well, Popovich is the I don't know, he's not he's not the GM. Uh Brian's the GM. He's the president. But he's like the pre well, he's something. I don't know what he is, but he's something. But you know, LeBron and Pop have always been pretty tight, really tight.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But no, I think I think we have a GM. We got Presty, so I don't think we need another one. But I I do see what you're saying. That you know, you can't undervalue even at his age.
SPEAKER_01You know, Brian Wright, he's I mean, he's done great things for the Spurs. I mean, he's been doing it for a long time. I mean, he's he found women when he was like 15, 16, you know what I mean? So like I just I think look, I think if we have LeBron this past year, I think we maybe not win the finals, but I think we go further than the five games. LeBron James doesn't give up a 29-point lead. LeBron James doesn't get up an 18-point lead. Having LeBron, he he's I mean whether you think he's the greatest or not, he's he's still a phenomenal basketball player and probably the smartest basketball player.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I will say if they had him this year and they only used him for five quarters of the whole season, I think they'd probably win it. I think if you just put him in in the fourth quarter of all those games, I think there's a good chance they win it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, man, I just I don't know, man, because I've I truly because LeBron James isn't a selfish player. Right. I mean, you can't lead, you can't have the all-time assist lead and and be selfish. You know what I mean? Does that make sense?
SPEAKER_00Like I mean he's the all-time assist leader?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I didn't know that. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01While we're talking, pull it up just to prove just to prove check me, but but like I said, you can't you can't be that high an assist and and be c be called a selfish basketball player.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_01You know what I mean? Does that make sense? Because I mean the dude knows how to come off a pick and roll. He knows he knows how to find the open guy. And it don't matter if he's 41 or or 31 or 21, people's gonna guard him and make sure they know where he is, and that's gonna leave somebody else open. Right. And LeBron is great at finding that finding that open player. I just think that having him or even a Chris Paul this year would have been great for the Spurs.
SPEAKER_00You know, just something like that.
SPEAKER_01Because here's the thing. Even even if LeBron is coming off the bench, you know, or not playing as many minutes, I think, you know, whenever we started getting out of hand jacking threes up being 29 and trying to embarrass the Knicks and get up by 50, I think LeBron comes in, he's like, no, we're not shooting threes. Quit shooting threes. Like, yes, it's Wimby's team, but I'm in charge. Like that's kind of like what Braun what LeBron would say.
SPEAKER_00You know? Yeah, especially for a bunch of guys that hadn't been there yet. And I I just I got four lists, all of them show the same thing. So John Stockton, Chris Paul, Jason Kidd, LeBron four. LeBron's four. I could have sworn LeBron James had the I feel like it would have been a it'd have been a made a pretty big deal about it if he how far off is he? So he's only he's only about five hundred away from Chris Paul at second, about thirty, eight hundred away from the so he's top five.
SPEAKER_01He's top five in assist. And he's most important. So so it still works with saying that he is a great passer. Yeah. Oh yeah, he's a great passer. I mean, and you said kid was where three? Kid's three. How far off is he from Kid?
SPEAKER_00Less than a hundred.
SPEAKER_01Oh, so he'll pass, he'll pass Kid this year.
SPEAKER_00And by the way, Westbrook's five. Of course.
SPEAKER_01I love Westbrook. I'm a huge Westbrook fan. I like Westbrook, Westbrook, dude. Thunder fans are like, they either hate him or love him, but I love Westbrook.
SPEAKER_00I don't know Thunder fans that hate Westbrook, do they? I I know a few of Thunder fans that can't stand him.
SPEAKER_01Now now Kevin Durant's a different story, but you know, I I've seen so many people say they want him back. I have heard that too.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01What's he gonna do? Who's he gonna play over?
SPEAKER_00Right. Do you know what I mean? Like who is Kevin Durant gonna play? I mean, you'd have to come off the bench, but still having Kevin Durant off the bench. I mean, he's not just totally washed. Isn't it funny though, like how you talk about these players coming off the bench now?
SPEAKER_01We're talking about like Kevin Durant coming off the bench. In what world did you ever think you'd say, yeah, Kevin Durant can come off the bench? Like that's true, yeah. But but yeah, like the the Thunder are super are super deep, which again we talked about before. I'm just not sold on the the postseason for the Thunder right now. Like I know Presty is the smart man. I mean, he he was once he was once a San Antonio Spur, you know. He I mean Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean you you with the the way the salary cap works, you're not gonna be able to you're gonna have to have little dips here and there to be able to keep your core players. I just hate losing Isaiah Joe. I do too.
SPEAKER_01That's one guy that I'm That was my favorite Thunder player. Yeah, that's one guy I really like for the Thunder. You know, I just man, it's hard. You know, it's hard because they talk about how deep they are this whole time and now they're over here getting rid of people, and you're just like But he he did bring us a championship, so you know, no matter what happens, yeah, he brought the championship, not anybody else.
SPEAKER_00Well, I mean the players still had to do their thing, but but I mean he was a big part of that, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I just like I just like messing with Thunder fans, you know, saying Isaiah Joe. You're not gonna get to Isaiah Joe. Well, I know a couple listeners they'll hear Isaiah Joe didn't win that championship, S GA did, you know. And and it's funny to think about them getting mad at me.
SPEAKER_00You know, I mean I I would probably venture to say Halliburton ended up winning it for us, but that's a whole different thing.
SPEAKER_01Don't don't say that you're a Thunder fan, you're not supposed to say that.
SPEAKER_00You're right.
SPEAKER_01You're gonna offend a lot of Thunder fans. And then that's true. Uh but I mean you look at the numbers SGA would do that. I do agree, man. I think Halliburton got y'all that championship because I think they beat y'all with Halliburton. I mean, he dude Maybe, maybe not, but that definitely helped seal the deal. Dude, and you know, it's funny because I remember whenever Halliburton was at Iowa State, I used to hate Halliburton because he beat OSU, man. Yeah. You know, we'd play him good, you know, and then all of a sudden Halliburton would beat Halliburton and just do some in the fourth quarter, you know, just uh which I I think he had like three or four crazy bank shots the Buds are in that playoffs anyway, didn't he? Yeah, like I mean, he usually does the same thing to this the th or the the Cowboys, and then you tick me off. But no, I I've been really happy with uh with uh the Spurs this offseason, you know, Tobias Harris. I was so juiced about Tobias Harris.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's he's definitely been a great player.
SPEAKER_01He was the only player that really played for the Pistons in the playoffs.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean Cade kind of did his thing with his turnovers. What's his name? Didn't was it Durin? Durin, yeah. Man, he didn't show up at all.
SPEAKER_01That's why I mean that's what I'm saying. Like Tobias Harris played really well, but I I think that was the missing piece for us to be solid. We we gotta have two two solid bigs, two decent bigs, I think, about it now. So, but I'm I mean, there's a lot of offseason left, you know. I'm just curious where LeBron's gonna go. I'm excited.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I I think it's probably either Cleveland or Philly, if I was guessing. You don't think Golden State? I think Golden State's the favorite. But you know, you like you say, you get information from 10 different people, you get 10 different stories.
SPEAKER_01Calci has San Antonio at 2%.
SPEAKER_00So there's a chance. So it's like the USA winning the World Cup type deal.
SPEAKER_01There's a chance. Hey, they're they're odds are getting better every every day, though. You know, teams are supposed to win, get beat out, and they keep finding a way to win. So Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Next one's gonna be tough with your Yeah, especially if already beaten Belgium once. Your top player being out with that or I guess Polisic's top player, but your top scorer.
SPEAKER_01But but I mean, you know, like I said, we've already beat Belgium once, and we we beat them pretty handedly. So they're gonna be coming to play.
SPEAKER_00And yeah, they hadn't they look pretty old in the group group stage.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, which did you watch that last game they played? Yeah, they should have got beat.
SPEAKER_00Man.
SPEAKER_01You know, I mean, they were down 2-0 with 80 at minute 85. I know. And they scored, they scored, you know, a minute 85 and they scored again at minute 89. I'm like, holy cow.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I got a buddy that, man, he loves soccer. That's like his sport, and he texts me about 82, 83rd minute. He's like, Man, it's gonna be tough for Belgium to do it at this point. I'm like, I I think it's over, man. I mean sure enough.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. No, yeah. But dude, there've been some great games, man. You know, like so many penalty games going into penalty kicks.
SPEAKER_00And that's been fun.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Like that has been those shootouts are fun.
SPEAKER_00And have you have you seen that VAR system they got now that that does the reviews? Oh, yeah. Yeah, it's quick. Like that Croatia game where they said the ball touched his hair. Yeah. What do you think about like reviews and and stuff in sports?
SPEAKER_01I mean I think it depends on which way the call goes. Is it on the Well, I just mean overall.
SPEAKER_00Do you think I'm saying Do you think it becomes too much at some point where you know they're getting so I mean I mean it does take a lot of time.
SPEAKER_01It's getting too much.
SPEAKER_00But you'll see a lot in in like say basketball where two guys touch it, you know, the defender hits it off of his hands, and then you can barely see it nick the fingertip of the other guy.
SPEAKER_01I really like how tennis doesn't.
SPEAKER_00You know, they call it in or out.
SPEAKER_01I had never thought of that's and it's just it's real quick, bam, it's in, bam, it's out. Okay, let's keep playing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But tennis doesn't have a lot of any contact.
SPEAKER_01Because now, you know, in football and basketball, they gotta go back and look at the play, and then they gotta go back and look at the the yard it happened on in football, and then they gotta look at where the clock was, and you know, it's just it I don't know. I mean, it just keeps going one more, one more, one more. But did you see all the lists? Did I did I talk to you about that? About all the lists for baseball, what they gotta go through?
SPEAKER_00No. I know they've I know it's a bunch, is it all?
SPEAKER_01It's crazy the stuff they do. They did it on a certain day of the week. They all had to do it between Wait, what do you mean? But like like their heights and stuff. Like, so that way you know how they call the ball and strike and how they can challenge it. Well, I mean, they they all had to like do their height and wait to see, yeah, the strike zone. Like, it's crazy. But they had to do it, they all had to be like weighed in and and their height done between 10 and noon, you know, because I guess your your back putting it.
SPEAKER_00But does it not change anything when you're in your stance and your knees are bent?
SPEAKER_01I don't know, man. There's there's so it's such a huge, crazy list. I was watching MLB Network the other day and I was talking about it, but I mean it was just crazy the stuff they had to do to to do it, you know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's I don't know. It gets to be a lot with some of the I wish there was still one sport that just didn't do reviews.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I do too. I do too.
SPEAKER_00And I and I figured it would have been baseball, you know.
SPEAKER_01Baseball would be that sport that's yeah.
SPEAKER_00But now it's everywhere.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you know, I mean, at first it was challenging the the base runner, if it was a tag or if he was safe, you know, and then now it's doing the strike zone. It's just a lot, man. Let's just let's just play the game. I mean, fish eating's part of the game.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01You know, I mean it's part of the game.
SPEAKER_00I know, and and when you eliminate it and it's just robots, you know, and that that was a thing, you know, when you played, you could kind of work the umpire and you know, hit the corner and then get a little farther outside until you know you're six, eight inches off and getting that strike. You know, talk with the ump and you become friends with him and but the but the main thing to me though is when I go to a game, now I it's harder to go home and say, Well, the umpires really blew that game. Like that was my favorite thing to say, and now, you know, you am I gonna blame the robots that were Well, the analytics really killed that one for me.
SPEAKER_01You know? I mean, so it's just I hate it. I really do. I'm I'm with you. I just wish we could just play the game. Yeah. Same. Like even even in basketball, man, all the the challenges, dude.
SPEAKER_00Like Especially when you get down late in the game and it I mean, it does matter, it it's close, but you know, yeah. I th I think I think people get down on the refs a lot, but the refs have to change a lot of the way they call things for the maybe not in basketball as much, but you know, like a fumble in football, you can't blow it dead because that might you know It's pop the plane.
SPEAKER_01But like in basketball though, like man, I just feel like I feel like officials in basketball take the most heat. Because it is a it is a fast it is a fast paced game, it is you know, and then but like the whole flop rule and and the when you shoot, you kick your legs out to draw the contact. Dude, if you kick your legs out, it's not a foul. That's that I mean that's simple. Just make that rule and there you go.
SPEAKER_00But you get on you get too close under someone's feet when they're to land. Like you know, that's a that's flagrant nowadays.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and like I I don't know, man. It's just it's hard because you know, you now you have players where they'll shoot the ball and then put their feet out into land and you know, to make sure see if you're in there and it just taking advantage of it. Like, I just wish they would quit doing all that, you know. And and Chris Paul was a great master manipulator of the rules and been in the rules. Like he was remember two years ago in the All-Star game. I know you're gonna I I was gonna bring it up if you were.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, him and Wimby.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, Wimby had no idea what was going on, but he just Chris Paul told him to do it, so he did it.
SPEAKER_00That's what a Spurs fan would say, uh I mean that's not true.
SPEAKER_01I mean, Chris Paul even said he was like, yeah, he was like, I've I he's like, why take your time shooting the ball? Just bounce them and go. You know, you're not looking anytime. So you just had to shoot three balls. Who cares? Just put it down and go. So but I don't know, man. It's just uh but also I think betting has made it like that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00The man, and you know, we could go down a whole nother rabbit hole with sports betting and all these people getting in trouble for for betting on themselves and shaving for the player prompts. Can you blame them though? Like Well, yeah, man. I mean, that that ruins the integrity of the game.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but dude, when you got um a mom that's struggled or a a brother that's struggled and say, hey, here, put all your money on on me to not score 10 points.
SPEAKER_00Or they could just give them that money because they've got enough money to uh Yeah, but that's but that's the right thing to do.
SPEAKER_01Who's gonna do that?
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01You know what I mean? Like that's that's the that's the correct thing to do. I mean, I I don't say correct, I just give him money.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I I mean I will say, like with the you know the Soresby guy, Brendan Soresby and all that that's gone on with him. I do it's almost like they treat him as if he was betting on the other team.
SPEAKER_01He was he was betting.
SPEAKER_00But he was betting, he was betting on him, yeah, on Pete Rose. He was just Pete Rose and a man. I don't know. I I don't know. They they seem really unforgiving like to it to a guy like that. Versus you take a guy like Ray Rice or Pac-Man Jones, who, you know wasn't beat on really beat on some like Ray Rice, man, when he knocked his girlfriend out or fiance, initially before the video came out, he got two game suspension and then they only buffed it to six. Yeah. And now Soresby's getting, you know, I mean banned. Literally a whole year's worth of bans bending on himself.
SPEAKER_01Again, but again, that goes to people and their and their morals are just way off. You know, it's just way off. Like I don't know, like Joe Mixon. Well, he did the same thing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, same thing. I I don't know. I I guess from a business standpoint, they would look at it like if someone's gambling, it's worse than hitting a woman just because they don't think people are gonna watch if they think that the games are rigged. Right.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But it it's I mean, it does it, you know, there is a moral line there that's But I honestly I would want a player that's gonna bet on himself. Exactly.
SPEAKER_00I I feel like it's more motivation.
SPEAKER_01That's a competitor, man. Like that's a guy that I can get behind. You know? If he's bet on himself, guess what? I'm probably gonna go put some money on that same guy. Like, let's go, man. I'm with you, you know. Like I I don't know.
SPEAKER_00It's just it's crazy. It's absolutely crazy. I mean, like that, you remember Peter LaFleur, he bet all his money on himself, dodgeball. Yeah, yeah, Everett Joe's gym. Nobody didn't get over that, did he over that, did they?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, nobody made a big deal there. But then again, that might have been why there wasn't dodgeball too. That might be you know, that might be why there wasn't dodgeball two, because he bet on himself and said nope, no, no more. So no, but but yeah, like I said, we'll get back on to what we were talking about, which was uh What were we talking about? I really don't know, man. We just we got we went from Fourth of July to basketball to officiating to gambling to I don't know, we hit a lot of stuff. We we did, we covered a lot of ground in a little bit of time. Yeah, a lot of stuff. No, but any anything fun or exciting with the kid this week? I know you went up there and you got her from Tulsa.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so not too much. Yeah, we just got her from Tulsa and I've I've been working. My wife heard her back, so she's kind of been at home, not really much else going on. You didn't really talk about uh your plans much for today, tomorrow, tonight, tomorrow. What all you got going on?
SPEAKER_01Dude, I'm I don't know. I'm a pretty easy one. Like, my wife says to do something, we're doing. That's what we're doing. You know, like if she's got a plan made.
SPEAKER_00So where where does she prioritize like 4th of July in her holiday?
SPEAKER_01Man, she she don't really don't have any must-dos with 4th of July, you know. Like we could if we was on a vacation, it wouldn't be a big deal. Like we wouldn't be missing out on anything. You know, like we just it is what it is.
SPEAKER_00So what's like what's you guys' top like holiday? I mean, uh, you know, typically Christmas is gonna be up there, but is there any other holiday that that you you know rank it higher than most people do? Honestly, I would say our kids' birthdays. Okay.
SPEAKER_01My wife goes all out.
SPEAKER_00And until I got married, I did not consider birthdays a holiday, but evidently they are.
SPEAKER_01So um if matter of fact, come come to my son's birthday the next couple weeks, next Saturday, I think it is. Okay. Well, uh, you can see what I mean. It's you're gonna walk in, you're gonna be like, holy cow, you was not lying. Really? Pretty extravagant, huh? Yeah, oh it's it's it's it's and and she she truly like the other day, she was telling me about all the things that she was doing, you know, for for this party, and and I didn't seem excited enough. So she hung up the phone on me. Oh, dang. No, and call her back. I'm like, really? And she was like, well, you didn't sound excited. She's like, I want you to be more excited about it. She's like, being as excited as I am, I'm like, okay, my man, I'm so excited. But and you know, it's all it's all fun and games. But like, I mean, it's it's gonna be a ninja turtle birthday. I mean, we're ninja turtling it, and I'm sure we're gonna have pizza, we're gonna have whatever Ninja Turtles has, that's what we're gonna have. Does he have a favorite? No, he's he thinks he's all a little bit of all of them. I mean, he uses all the swords and all the I mean, he's even got an axe sitting over there on the floor, Minecraft axe, which ain't never watched Minecraft a day in his life, but it's an axe, so he wanted that. But but yes, like I said, he he's all about but he he goes in phases, man. Like he loved, he loved David, you know, like the Bible David. You know, so he carried around a slingshot for a while. That's good and it was a leather strap my wife made for him, and I mean he would swing that thing around and act like he's throwing it at you, and you had to be Goliath, so you'd have to get hit in the head and act like you're falling, and and then he'd walk up behind you and cut off your head. Oh, I was gonna ask, but I thought, surely not. Yeah, no, we we told him the truth, you know. Yeah. And uh that's funny. And he would, he'd cut off your head, and then let's see, we went from that to I think Ninja Turtles, actually. We went from Ninja Turtles, and he and he would love his Ninja Turtles. Matter of fact, his favorite ones in Spanish. So we'll turn it on, and he will sit there and watch Ninja Turtles in Spanish, not knowing what's being said, but he would sit down. Hey, that's probably a good way to learn some Spanish. I bet he'd get something out of it. Uh and then went from that to oh, Power Rangers.
SPEAKER_00Power Ranger. Oh, really?
SPEAKER_01We still have those? We're in a little Power Ranger phase. Yeah, that was yeah, that was big whenever I was a kid. I used to have a whole little leather jacket. Matter of fact, we found that leather jacket on it's like a letterman's jacket, a Power Ranger Letterman's jacket. I thought it was on eBay, 500 bucks. I was like, dang, I wish I'd have kept it. You know, like we could sell it for 500 bucks. But, you know, the Power Rangers, but now he he kind of likes Mario and Luigi, man. Like Oh, that's cool. We watch Mario and Luigi every every day, probably at some point, you know. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So I've seen both of those. I I did like the the first one a lot. Yeah, that's one we watch all the time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we went and watched the third the second one at theaters.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But it's not out yet. But we watch the first one every day on TV, you know. So but yeah, so he we're excited about the party. I mean, it's gonna be fun. We'll have uh a bounce house, you know, there'll be games, I'm sure there'll be slime with like some ooze, and there'll be pizzas, I'm sure, and cupcakes that'll probably be green. I mean, like I said, just come next Saturday and you will you will see. And it's a it's an afternoon birthday party, so it's not gonna be crazy hot, you know. It'll be decent, but I mean, it'll be from like five to seven or five days. I don't I don't know. But it's it's gonna be it's gonna be going on next next week. So come over and and you can see what I mean. Robert will probably be here. Robert Davis. Oh, really? Yeah, he comes every once in a while. He's hit or miss, whether he has to work or not. But but yeah, like I said, we we go all out for birthday parties. My my daughter had a fancy Nancy birthday. Yeah, we we watched some fancy Nancy. Yeah, and it was it was fancy. I mean, it was a bit much. Yeah. I mean, it was just stuff all over the place, you know, basically what it was. But my uh my wife enjoyed that, and then and then we had for the twins, I can't remember what even the theme was. It was like some kind of butterflies and unicorns. I don't know. I have no idea what the what the theme was, but but like I said, we had that birthday and we had everything. It just she just really enjoys birthdays. And she likes I think anything to decorate and have people over at the house, she's all in.
SPEAKER_00I'm surprised she she allows slime. My wife, man, with that slime, she gets worked up. I get it, because it it's a pain.
SPEAKER_01I bet we don't open the slime. It'll be the it'll be party favorites that we'll send home with people. Yeah, that's fair. So if you're coming, you're welcome. Have fun with the slime at your house. No, but but yeah, so like I said, that's kind of that's kind of her thing. A holiday, man. I I don't know. Thanksgiving, Christmas. I mean, they all I mean, her whole family comes over to the house, you know. Yeah. Moms, dads, they all come over here, aunts, uncles. Yeah, most times.
SPEAKER_00See, I'm envious of that. I I dread those holidays now because all I end up doing is driving.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00We'll drive here, stay for an hour, and we'll drive the next one. And it's like, okay, well, I can see everyone for 30 minutes.
SPEAKER_01My thing is if it's here, I just want to make sure we have enough food that I get to keep.
SPEAKER_00You know.
SPEAKER_01But if Phoenix has to give it all away, and I'm like, baby, don't give it all away. Like, I'm trying to keep it.
SPEAKER_00I'd be fine even if I had to give it all away, if as long as I didn't have to drive. See, I don't I don't mind the driving. Like, that don't bother me any. So you you'd be fine if you lived in Sanger. You'd drive up to Medill, stay for two hours, then you drive up to Tulsa.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you do you do that?
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I probably wouldn't have.
SPEAKER_00I'm not talking about a little drive like 30 minutes.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I f if we're going if we're going somewhere for two hours or two hours away, I'm gonna, I'm gonna stay. We're going there this year. We're not going to both. Like, we're going here. Like that's that's how I am.
SPEAKER_00Like, yeah. I went over to the city. I don't blame you. That's what I tried to say is like, you know, next year everyone can come here and they're like, well, next year we'll go there. You're you're not really old enough. Like, you know, it it's gotta be your parents or grandparents. I'm like, golly, all these rules.
SPEAKER_01I'm just No, yeah. Well, like I said, Infinity's really good about just, you know, we're not gonna hit five different Christmases and different Thanksgiving is like we're gonna do one. Like, that's that's plenty to me. Yeah, I think it is to her. I could be wrong. I'll I'll find out. Let's see, this this will air Sunday, so I'll probably find out about Tuesday if I if I said that correctly or not. Yeah. You know, so I love you though, even though I know you're gonna listen to this. So but but no, yeah, like I said, we're just I'm just ready for summer to be over. I know it's just July, but boy, I'm ready for these kids go back to school.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I'm ready. I know my wife's ready because she, you know, she takes the girls to to work with her. Yeah. I couldn't imagine. Yeah, I I'm getting there. It's uh Yeah. I'm I'm just ready for school to be back. I'm ready. I just like a schedule, man. I just like to be on a schedule. I like, you know, nothing going on in my schedule. Like I won't follow my schedule. I wake up, I gotta be working at eight o'clock. I gotta get off at four o'clock. Like, I that's I like I just like a schedule, you know.
SPEAKER_00Summer is just they're just going everywhere.
SPEAKER_01You know, like my son's last week of daycare is the 24. So we'll uh he'll we'll officially have no more daycare to pay for. So that's nice. That's huge, man. Yeah. You know, we pay $6.50 a month.
SPEAKER_00Golly.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and I mean, just think two years ago we was paying, well, six fifty times three, so we're paying $19.50 a month, you know, in daycare. That's crazy. That's a lot of money. That's a lot. That's a lot of money, man. It's like a whole pay raise, you know. So like that's a whole new job, basically, for some people.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And so that saved us almost two grand once once he'll get out of daycare, which will be nice. So I don't know. We'll see what happens when they all go to school. Infinity's gonna be a stay-at-home mom. So that'll be nice. I mean, uh she'll be able to, you know, do things around here and she'll be able to go to all the kids' stuff. Like, there won't be anything that we won't be able to make. Like, she can actually go to everything for the kids. So I'm I'm really glad about that. I'm excited that, you know, she'll be able to pick them up every day, she'll be able to drop them off every day. Yeah. You know, the kids will be taken care of. That that's that's that's the main thing, is the kids are taken care of. Yeah, you know, and like I've told you before, you know, Steven and Riley, they they're all trying to do their own thing. Makes it a lot easier on you. Right. Right. Yeah. So it's it's it's nice.
SPEAKER_00So I'm looking forward to it. But yeah, so got any more summer plans for it's Yeah, I'm going to Germany in a couple weeks. That's right. I do remember you saying that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm pretty excited about that. So I'll be hitting Germany up and and seeing all my people in Germany. Anything else? Uh a lot of baseball. Man, I don't think I've got anything else going on, really, man. I've uh we kind of cut back our travel this summer just because I've saved up for that big Asian trip, you know, we're going to Asia in October. So be gone half a month of October. So it's pretty, pretty exciting. Yeah, that is. So I've really kind of cut back on all the the trips to Mexico or New York or whatever it is we're doing. We usually do that in the summertime. We're we're cutting it back and just and I'm trying to save for that. Right. You know, so so our our building's gotten a little bit closer being done, you know. I've gotten bids on it to to uh for the electric stuff. I saw you posting on Facebook asking for Yeah, I've got a I've got a few people that hollered at me about that that's gonna come out and give me a bid to see how much it's gonna cost to do that. Probably a couple grand, you know, but I mean part of it. So I'm just excited. Steven's been out there working in it and and getting it ready and doing insulation and all kinds of stuff to kind of seal it and get ready to live in it. So I'm still curious to see what he's gonna do for uh college this year. Is he gonna go back to SNU? Is he gonna stay home? I'm I'm uh eager to see what he's gonna do. You know, just to see which which way he decides to go. So we'll see. We shall see what happens. Yeah, so like I said, you got any plans for the summer?
SPEAKER_00Not really. I know we're we're supposed to do a camping trip with some of Daneta's family at some point. You like camping? Yeah, I do. I don't like the heat. I don't like anything to do with the heat anymore. Now let me ask you, do you do you camp camp?
SPEAKER_01Do you tent camp or do you like you like a camper?
SPEAKER_00Tent camp, yeah, for sure. I mean, I used to be like one of those where, you know, you got you gotta eat what you catch or or kill, you know, and I don't know.
SPEAKER_01You like you like that stuff.
SPEAKER_00I did. I did like doing that. But like I said, man, with the heat, I think all I'm gonna be thinking about is how hot I am. I'm probably not gonna be able to catch you.
SPEAKER_01How miserable you are. No, yeah. Infinity likes likes the uh tent camp, and I'm just like, uh I like it for a couple days.
SPEAKER_00I I couldn't do like a week of it, you know. That that would get old pretty quick.
SPEAKER_01That's never been my, you know, cup of tea, man. I just I don't like I don't like it. I don't like roughnecking it. You know, you can make fun of me all you want being a guy and not liking that kind of stuff, but hey, I don't like it. I'm just gonna tell you right now, it's not for me. I mean it's not for me.
SPEAKER_00This time of year though, like man, I can't I can't I keep my house about 65 year round and you know, it it's probably gonna be in the even, you know, at nighttime it's probably still gonna be in the high eighties, if I'm guessing.
SPEAKER_01So Yeah, I just I gotta have a fan. I I don't know, man. I just I would never do good, you know, being a outdoors and I know not your thing, huh? You know, I get pedicures. Oh, do you know I get my food?
SPEAKER_00Nah, I can't do I can I can't do that kind of stuff. Don't knock it till you try it, man. I'm not knocking it, I'm just saying uh not not for me.
SPEAKER_01I like I like vacations, I like going on beaches, I like doing that kind of thing. Yeah, nothing wrong with that. I just outdoor stuff, man. I just mm. It ain't for me. Ain't for me. I don't don't care to hunt, don't care to fish. Really? Yeah. I just don't I don't like it. I mean, basically, if you I guess I sound pro I sound pretty lazy if I think about it, you know. No, I know I am. I just don't I just don't want to do I just don't like doing those things. They're just not for me. Now I can go to a sporting event all day every day. A difference I mean, you know speaking of sporting events, what does a bucket list sport event look like to you?
SPEAKER_00Like as far as things that I would want to go to.
SPEAKER_01You like things that you like, you gotta do like a bucket list wise sport sport event-wise.
SPEAKER_00So I would put the Kentucky Derby up there, I would put the Masters up there, and then out of your three major sport, I'd even say four major sports, I would at least want to see a a you know, one at least one of between all four sports, out of the Stanley Cup, a finals game, Super Bowl, World Series, at least be able to go to one. So that's three. I don't know if I want to do like a Mount Rushmore top five. Um I have made this list before, I just can't think.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But at least those three for sure, I can't really think. Man, probably World Cup would probably be up there. Like this probably would have been a good time to to make one of those games.
SPEAKER_01I feel like I feel like the next one, like one that's not gonna be in America, would be a better one to go to.
SPEAKER_00I'd agree.
SPEAKER_01Because I guarantee it's gonna be a lot cheaper.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm. I have seen prices. Dude, it's crazy.
SPEAKER_01Some of those games, like that, like in LA, dude, they're like or San Francisco, they're like $8,000 the cheapest seat. Like, come on. Like that's crazy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I didn't know they were that high.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they're I mean, they're crazy high, man. Like, but and that's and I think that's part of being in America. Like, people just raise the price, you know. So, but I think, you know, mine, one of mine is Wimbledon. I want to go to a Wimbledon so bad.
SPEAKER_00Like, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I want to go to a Wimbledon. That would be a funny day at Wimbledon or the Australian Open, you know, that would be awesome.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, any major Wimbledon would would be the top one. Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_01Uh going to a World Cup game would be would be really cool. You know, I got to go to a finals, so I'm I can mark that off. And honestly, I want to go to I want to go to Omaha.
SPEAKER_00You know, I want to go watch a Cold World Series in Omaha. You know, I think that would be Honestly, I would probably put going to uh all 30 baseball stadiums up there. Yeah. I think that would be neat. Yeah. You know, but that would be, you know, the other ones I would probably be fine doing by myself. Yeah. But the 30 stadiums, I would definitely want someone that was going with you.
SPEAKER_01And not just somebody that goes with you, but somebody that appreciates it with you. Right. You know, I want to I want to be able to go with somebody that's going to appreciate it. You know? So luckily, my wife, she's, you know, she's a big sports fan too. So like she appreciates those kind of things. Yeah. You know, so that that's always nice.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_01It's always nice.
SPEAKER_00So you never you never been into horse racing, huh? Man, horse horse racing's fun.
SPEAKER_01No, I just I don't know, man. I it's never never got me really.
SPEAKER_00Have you have you ever been to a I don't see. Once you go, it's it's kind of like kind of like a lot of people are with hockey. Like a lot of people don't really care for hockey, and then until you go when you go to a game, it's like, oh, especially if you sit close and see how hard they're checking them into the wall. Yeah. It's it's fun.
SPEAKER_01Now, have you ever been to the Allen Americans games?
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01Well, they're fun. Yeah. They're cheap.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they are.
SPEAKER_01It's a good, it's a good thing, you know, it's a good thing to do. We went, what didn't we go? Oh, we went Halloween night. Because, you know, we don't do Halloween. Right. We just don't do Halloween. And so whenever the kids went, like when all the kids went trick or treating, we went, we went down to Allen, we went, we went to a hockey game, we got to go go sit up in a suite. A guy invited us to the suite and eat food. Like it was it was awesome. Yeah. We had a blast, you know. So it was a lot of fun. The kids really enjoyed it. So we we need to go to another Allen game at some point.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So yeah, those any any minor leagues, man, they're they're fun to go to. Yeah. No, for sure. You don't get gouged so bad and and you're still getting competitive. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Like our church is actually going to to the Oklahoma City Blues game Friday night as like a family night. Oh yeah. Yeah. That's named. Yeah, I think it was like $20 a ticket. We just like we're all we're all gonna go. They're it's all you can eat. You know, it's it's gonna be fun. I'm excited about it. It's gonna it'll be a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_00I will tell you my number five. I want to go to the the hot dog eating. Oh, Nathan's.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Nathan's on new on New Year's Day. No, Fourth of July. Fourth of July, yeah, Fourth of July. Fourth of July. Well, I guess um that's about it for for this one. I mean, you know, it's easy little thing. We didn't really have much to talk about. We just kind of talked a little bit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, kind of busy time with 4th of July and all that going on.
SPEAKER_01So I've I've got to do better, guys. I'm super sorry. I haven't been posting our our you know, our sound by reminding you that the it's out. But I mean, I appreciate y'all guys that keep remembering that we, you know, we post every Sunday and keep listening to us because I mean it's a lot it's a it's a lot of fun to see throughout the week how many people listen. You know, so I I enjoy doing that because we we can see how many people download our download our uh episodes. So it's it's cool to be able to see that and do that. But but yeah, again, you know, I keep asking for the dad fails, man. I just nobody's nobody's gave us a dad fail. Don't be scared to be the first, you know. Like just want to know, you know, just something to talk about, you know, give us something to talk about so we're just not up here rambling like we usually are.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, give us something.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So I mean we can I can talk about all my dad fails, but those kind of get boring, and then same with Britt, you know. I mean, we're not very funny.
SPEAKER_00Maybe we need to do a giveaway or something for Yeah, we could. We should have done a 4th of July giveaway. Best winner if it becomes the only one. I guess it would be the best winner.
SPEAKER_01Winner, winner. Yeah, no. But yeah, maybe we'll start giving out some some still figuring it out t shirts or something.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that'd be cool.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so guys, I appreciate y'all uh tuning in and listening. So I'm Josh and this is Britt, and we're just trying to figure it out.
