SPEAKER_00

Oh means you might hire a minute to take one. Thank you, I think that there is just a guy in the bathroom watching his dishes in our fucking state.

SPEAKER_01

Hello everyone. Welcome to the brand new podcast around the corner on the internet on over the world. This is Small City Sessions. Um Small City Sessions is a podcast that aims to make the internet feel a little bit more better because oh my god, there is so much AI slop and just lazy crap on the internet that I I feel like people end up doom scrolling a lot longer than they just end up like realizing because sometimes I don't even notice it, but like I feel like I scroll through so many of those um of those like YouTube shorts, whatever that's like a scene from a movie with this stupid AI voice over it. Like he he pulled up his pistol, but little did he realize, or some crap like that. So Small City Sessions is here to get you away from that when you are just desperate for something to watch, or if you need something to listen to to get you through work. God knows I would play podcasts when I was working out of my factory job. Don't tell anyone. Um Small City Sessions aims to be something for you. So welcome to Small City Sessions, everyone. I am going to be your host today. My name is Seth, and I am joined by my two co-hosts, Ethan and Riley. Say hi, boys. What's up, guys? Hello. So, how we do small city sessions. Um, we just open up with a little bit of small talk. We'll talk about some recent news that goes on lately, and then we kind of just choose something to uh to talk about and have fun with. So, with that being said, how you boys doing? I'm pretty good. Doing good, doing great, yeah, yeah. As good as I can be, you know. Yeah. I I take it you're doing a lot better than you did than you were Monday. Well, yeah, that's for sure. Although I I mean I didn't have to spend like $420, but I mean, no, yeah. Did did you did you at least did you um oh my god, I stutter so bad. Yeah, uh newsflash for my our audience. I stutter a lot. I sound like a broken robot. Um did you file it with your insurance? Did you not get that money back? I guess she doesn't have roadside insurance. No, we didn't. We did not. That's tragic. Also, I guess you'd have take a you gotta take a picture of the tire. I didn't know that, and I never did. Really? I guess, at least through progressive, I guess. I don't fucking know. Oh well, I don't use progressive, I don't either. So I mean I I don't know, but that's what she said, at least. So I guess. Yeah, no, we we should tell Ethan what happened uh that night. Yeah, it was real fun. Oh man. Uh so yeah, we were uh I will be it was like well, we started going to Iowa City at like two in the morning because Junior needed a ride home, so I was like, sure, I'll give him a ride. Yeah, I see. And I didn't want him to just sit there for fucking 17 hours at a bus stop. So I was like, oh yeah, I'll give you a ride. Asked if Seth wanted to come. He decided to come along. It was going fine. We were listening to the distractable podcast while we were going there. About like 50 minutes into the ride, I looked at my tire pressure because one of those cars you can check the tire pressure, and it was at like 10. My back left tire was at 10. I was like, ooh, Seth, maybe you should look to see if there's a fucking gas station or something nearby. And he was like, you know what? Up ahead looks like maybe like a Casey's or some sort of gas station. And then right as that happened, like boom, you just hear my tire fucking just explode. I'm like, you gotta be fucking kidding me. We were like 20 minutes away from where he was at, too. It was not fun. Like, uh Junior. Yeah, yeah, no, we're done. You're not getting picked up today, buddy. And then I had to get it towed. We originally were gonna get it towed back to Clinton, like that was just like a first thought, kind of. That would have been like $830, so that was not happening. Jesus Christ. Yeah, honestly, I don't know why I thought of that. I was just like, okay, it's like it's three in the morning. A lot of these places are closed. Let me just try my luck. I but yeah, I knew dang well, like I don't think it's gonna work at all, but might as well give it a shot at least. Yeah. We found a different different towing company that wasn't too far away. Although it took them a little bit to get there, to be honest. But yeah, I could imagine we we towed it to them and then they fixed it at eight, and then I had to pay $422. That was fun. Jesus Christ. That was fun time. You know, I'm really glad that I was with you because I'm willing to bet you've never had that happen to you before. I have not, no. So it's like especially that's almost like the worst spot. It was on the highway at three in the morning. That was like the worst possible like time looking ahead. Yeah. No, because I've I've had I've had my tire like blown out multiple times, so I was like, okay, I know what to do. Let's get this just over with. Um but no, that that was like the biggest plot twist I've had in a night ever, I think. At least she has a good new tire now, so I guess did they get the right size? Yeah. Which is good. They did call me before they had well, yeah. You were here when they called me, right? I think I I was there when they called me. Yeah, so yeah, they made sure, but yeah. Good tire now. We we we were taken back to uh the I-80, like the big ass truck stop that they had. Oh, that was truck stop, and we're thank god. Thank god that Phoebe woke up and she was able to get someone's car to take us back home. Otherwise, you might stay in there. At one point, I was I tried. I was like, maybe I can see if I can get an Uber ride. But no one wants to give an Uber ride at damn near like 4 30 in the morning, especially not like 80 miles away. Yeah, good amount of money you can make. Yeah, they would have made they would have made bank, they missed out on that. Yeah. Oh well, you that was great money at least. I I you know, I should actually check and see if I did get that reef. I actually no, I don't think it even like yeah, I don't think I feel like it wouldn't have gone through until like they actually got a driver, but I don't know how it works. So nah, I don't know. That was my first time I was ever gonna use Uber. Yeah, so there's really no point unless you're like too drunk to drive or something. I don't know what else you'd really use it for, but that'd be crazy. I only I only get drunk with people on I I know, so if I that ever happens, I'm like, well, I'm staying the night.

SPEAKER_00

You tell me you don't just drink with your Uber driver?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's the move right there. Let's turn this Chevy into a fucking bar. Let's use the let's use the exhaust in the back as a as a tap.

SPEAKER_00

Ooh, yeah, it's that and the bottle opener.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Exactly. Oh man. So that was a very interesting thing to happen. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Isn't it? Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But um, other than that, how you bo how you've always been, what have you guys been up to? Good, you know, good.

SPEAKER_00

My tires aren't my tires aren't blown out. Yeah. Glad to hear that. Pretty sure when I bought mine, it came with like a new set of tires.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, hers did not, that's for sure. It just came with all the tires need new tires, to be honest.

SPEAKER_00

It just came with like three or four separate leaks, that's about it. And that's why I only spent $500 to get it.

SPEAKER_01

You only you only spent $500 on your car.

SPEAKER_00

You only cost me $500 and then probably like roughly a thousand dollars for the parts. Oh.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. That that makes more sense. I was like, damn, how could you get a car that costs less than some grills, man? That's just the way of the road. Just the way of the road, I guess. You guys ever think that the car market will be fixed? Because oh my god, it has been royally fucked up. The car market? Car market, but yeah. Yeah, no. It it's crazy to think that like back in the day, you'd get made fun of if you had a used car, but fast forward to now, that's like the standard. Yeah. Only rich people even get brand new cars. Exactly. Yeah, no, I can't afford that shit. Probably all getting those stupid Teslas.

SPEAKER_00

You probably do your research because like uh I'm sure like 90% of uh new car new car buyers, they probably have to take out a loan and then just pay it off for like three or five years.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But then again, because like they're just so damn expensive. Like, I don't even understand how people can get them. I my bank wouldn't eat my bank would never even let me get a loan that much. That's fair. That plus the interest on that shit you gotta pay. Makes it more than it originally is.

SPEAKER_00

Maximum I try was $7,500, but never end up using it.

SPEAKER_01

It it's something that they can get away with, because like uh they can get a loan and then they just have like a bunch of very valuable shit that they just use as collateral. So they basically it's basically just them getting a bunch of cash from the bank without even paying for it because they have all that collateral exactly. I think that's the right term. I don't know, but it's something like that. No, it's kind of sad, man. I I I really hope it gets healed too because I would love to have another car in the future because I already feel like the one I have is degrading. Yeah, absolutely. Well, maybe it might just be better for me just to get Jesus Christ. I hate that they said so much. Might just be better for me to just focus on trying to get it fixed rather than replaced, but I don't know how much that's gonna cost me either. So it kind of just it kind of just is what it is. Yeah. Although I will say I would love to get a motorcycle. Oh yeah. It it's it might just be a goal of mine in the future to get a to get a motorcycle, but I'm starting from I'm starting from ground zero because like I don't even have a motorcycle license. I don't even know where I'm gonna I don't even know like where to go to get that. I don't know if it's just like the same DMV or if it's some other place I'd have to go to. Honestly, I have no idea. And I don't tell you I don't know how any of that works. So I I gotta figure that out. I don't know why you'd have to go to a different DMV, but maybe you do. I I don't know if someone knows that, so who knows? Who knows? Oh man. But if I if I ever if the circumstances ever come, if the stars ever align, and maybe one day I'll get a motorcycle. I love those things, man. I love them. I really want one. What type of motorcycle do you want? Um I think I'd want like more like a sports one. Yeah, that's fair. That's probably that's probably what I get. Hell yeah. I don't know what type of motorcycle specifically. I'm not that big at motorcycles, but I don't I don't really know the brands or what yeah, I don't either. Something else I just have to look into. Yeah. Yeah. No, no, like whenever I play GTA, like everyone else be getting those fancy cars. I'm just getting motorcycles, man. I used to just ride around on the fucking like little dirt bikes all the time. If you're playing online, everyone's on that flying crap. Yeah, the oppressor. That shit's fun. I bought that shit just for the sake of being able to get around the map fast.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I'd be using I'd be using the the the Tron bike.

SPEAKER_01

I forgot about that. I don't I don't know if I remember that one. Have you seen Tron? Do you know what that is? No. You don't? Oh no. Wow. Okay, never mind then. I don't really know how to explain it to you, to be honest. Oh man. I I I feel like the I feel like the the flying bike is the um is like the first thing anyone does when they start the uh GTA online. Like Yeah, if you want to be an asshole. I don't even do it for the sake of killing people or crap like that. It just like you're an asshole. It just no, you literally said it yourself. It saves so much time when you have to go to your weed farm, then go to your then go to your fake cash uh plant, then go all the way to your nightclub.

SPEAKER_00

It's more easy when I have to go from like the international airport all the way out to fucking Polito Bay. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I want do you guys think they're gonna have that flying bike in GTA 6? I would hope not, because that's kind of what ruined fucking online in the first place, but I guess we'll see.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

We'll see. Yeah. Or like maybe like invite only something, so you don't people can't just fly around killing people the whole time. You know how unfun it is when you're trying to deliver your fucking cocaine across the map, and here comes two oppressors just blowing up your shit. That's not fun, man. It ruins everything. It's like, why the fuck did I even get on the game at that point? I should have just fucking stayed off. I I love hearing that uh sentence. Knowing people are gonna take that out of context. But no, that is fair. Those goddamn oppressors, man. Yes, bro. Oh man, I was like, I I was always like paranoid when I'm wandering around in the GTA maps. Cause like I'm pretty sure any player you come across, their first instinct is to pull out an RPG and just fire it at you. Kinda, yeah. Sometimes you can okay people, but I don't think I've ever gotten an okay person. I've always just gotten the people that shoot on site. You know. It's like, damn man, I just wanted to strike up a friendly conversation. Yeah, no, that's that's not the place to do it. No, it is not. Although honestly, part of me feels like I I mean I don't know for certain because it's been way too long since I played it, and I don't even think I played it that much. Felt like it was a lot worse than Red Dead Redemption 2 online. What? The people? Yeah. I don't know. There's definitely bad people, but there's way more people that are cool in Red Dead. Like you can you can at least enter a city and not get shot at in the first five seconds sometimes. No. I will, I mean, I remember I remember the one time, like, I was uh hanging around in the saloon in Saint Denis. Um that's like the worst place to be though. Well, apparently I got lucky that day because no one was killing me. People are coming in, everyone was just drinking. But then but then you wander around like a town out west with a random name, and then random player comes by. They have paint it, they have painted black, and then boom, nothing. Oh yeah. I mean painted black works out though. Yeah, it is. But like I said, I mean take away a grain of salt, because I definitely didn't play as much Red Dead 2 online as I did uh GTA Online. I play I played a decent amount of both.

SPEAKER_00

My asshole intentions typically just come out at random. I would see someone come by and be like, ooh, he's vulnerable.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, sometimes like to hog tie a random player in Red Dead or something, that's always fun.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like that always happens too because like anytime someone I see someone pulling up near me, I'm just like, I I was side-eyeing them the entire time, like, what are you doing? Why you getting near me? Pull out the RPG and just watch as they drive by. Like If you get like five feet near me, dude, you're getting blown up. Do not touch me.

SPEAKER_01

Man, you know, I don't think it really ever happens anymore, but I remember like way back then when all the news, all like the news uh channels would cover video games, cover them as being like toxic and like bad for everyone. Uh there was they did it about GTAs. It's like this is a video game where you can walk up to a lady in her car, pull her out of it, beat her with a baseball bat, have cops pull up, pull out a pistol, and shoot the law enforcement. People think this is entertainment, and everyone at home watching it is just like, yes, this is what we like. Honestly, I feel like Red Dead's worse than GTA. Oh, yeah, they've they've had to do one of them with Red Dead 2 as well. You could fucking hog tie some random lady, feed her to an alligator, fucking drown her, do a bunch of fucked up shit in that game. Because they always push this thing that video games make you so violent, and like that is the most untrue thing I've ever heard of. I've played so much Mario, and I've never kicked turtles across the field. Okay? That's fair. I I've played so much Minecraft, and I don't go slaughtering every pig I see in real life.

SPEAKER_00

And I've played countless eating random mushrooms.

SPEAKER_01

My favorite shooter is Hell Let Loose 2, but I've never even gone to war before. I never got drafted. Pretty sure that wasn't even a thing anymore.

SPEAKER_00

I never even own a gun.

SPEAKER_01

I haven't either. Oh man. Anyways, we're at 21 minutes. Um I'm going to bring up the news, which despite how recent it is, it's probably gonna already feel like uh old news. Um the lettuce parasite.

SPEAKER_00

Oh for god's sake.

SPEAKER_01

Do they even give it a name yet? Because I've only heard it as the lettuce parasite or some shit like that. I've never I've never heard them give it a name.

SPEAKER_00

I'm pretty sure it's related to uh the um Taylor Farms product.

SPEAKER_01

Is this the one I'm thinking of it as like a big thing to do with Taco Bell? Or am I thinking of a different one? It might I mean it probably it probably did affect Taco Bell. There's one going around right now that's leading to people like having diarrhea and getting sick and shit. And that's a big thing for Taco Bell.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they're related. I'm assuming that yeah, I think the Taco Bell. Um I think Taco Bell uses Taylor Farm product. Which is the only product I'm hearing is causing this issue.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah, by the way, we we sell those salads uh at Walmart.

SPEAKER_01

Do you still sell?

SPEAKER_00

Yep. I don't know why. Because once I found out that w that's what was happening, I was like, uh, should we take these off the shelf? No one better than nine.

SPEAKER_01

I should I should talk to I should talk to the place I work at and see if I don't I want to say I don't think our stuff is Taylor product, but I have to double check. You know what's really crazy? I don't be hearing anything about the Hontavirus anymore.

SPEAKER_00

It was going for a little bit and then suddenly it's silent.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. You can hear crickets about it. Like when it first came out, like everyone was freaking out, like, oh my god, this is the new COVID, it's gonna actually kill us this time.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And then all of a sudden, like, there's been nothing about it. So I'm guessing that they have it like contained at least, or maybe they've even taken care of it completely already. But it kind of it kind of just goes like if that's the case, and you know, it kind of really just goes to show that um like the new like the news loves to fearmonger us, which is when I first kind of crazy when you think about it.

SPEAKER_00

When I heard about the hantavirus, my first my first thought, no, no kidding on this, is like, oh, are we gonna go to another lockdown? Ooh, nostalgia.

SPEAKER_01

Man, what did I miss those days?

SPEAKER_00

At least this time I won't have to do online classes.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, thank god. I didn't mind though. I'm being honest. Yeah. I'd just be fucking around on my phone while I'm listening to the online classes. In my personal opinion, I prefer the online classes over actually going to school. That's what I did at first, too. Yeah. And then they did it where it's like it's the one day at school, then the next day it's online and they switched it. And I was really sad when they just brought it back to regular going to school. Yeah, well, that that stuff was pretty annoying.

SPEAKER_00

They had it sectioned out to like, oh, you people are in like the A group, you're in the B group. Yeah. Like having to do that every other day. I feel like they would have been better off just doing it like every other week. Like one week you're online, one week you're actually here.

SPEAKER_01

It kind of sucks too, because like when they split the entire school in like group A and group B, like there's definitely gonna be people you know that you like to hang around with at school, and like all of a sudden you like never see them, you never see them there anymore, because now that the other group you are now lonely. Yep. Oh man. Well, yeah, thank God they took care of that crap.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So we don't have to do lockdown because that crap sucked. That sucked so much as I was just playing Fortnite the whole time. I was just cranking the 90s and shit, dude.

SPEAKER_00

Nasty. Dude, I remember um when during one of our online classes, we were uh I was me and my buddies were playing the live Fortnite event. One of them was in the same class as me and unmuted their uh mic in the classroom. It was just like, Is it get off Fortnite? And the teacher just kind of looked up for a second, raised their eyebrow, and just looked back down.

SPEAKER_01

I I get the feeling you wanted to punch him because like how could he just call you out like that?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah, because they're gonna wrap me up like that. We were in a Discord call, and I was like, dude, you fucking suck.

SPEAKER_01

I think it's kind of crazy a little bit because like we had the Hanta virus and which I don't think I don't even remember how long ago it was, but it definitely was not that long ago. And now we have this new parasite, which thankfully doesn't sound like it's gonna kill you. But it sounds like a major inconvenience, at least.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Which I I wonder how long it's gonna be or how serious it'll get if they start like, okay, everyone, no more selling lettuce, no more lettuce, no more lettuce. And I think doesn't it doesn't it also be found in like berries or some crap like that too?

SPEAKER_00

Um at the start it was saying like, oh, avoid like all sorts of produce, and now it's just down to lettuce. So I don't know if they f if they either A discovered that it wasn't all produce, or B, they fixed it, but can't fix the lettuce. Because typically in that scenario, they would typically just recall all the product and be like, hey, get it out.

SPEAKER_01

But you know what's you know what's funny? I'd be hearing everyone talking about how they want to get that parasite so they can lose weight. I mean, I guess. I mean that's one way to do it, but I mean But that like this is literally a repeat of history. Cause um I can't remember when, and I might and I might be saying the wrong name, but like there used to be a parasite, I'm pretty sure it was just called like the tapeworm, where it would live in your intestines and eat some of the crap that you ate.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think you're thinking of the tapeworm.

SPEAKER_01

And oh, might be it might have been ringworm, one one of those two, tapeworm or ringworm. But and they would actually use that as a form of like weight loss. You they'd purposely give themselves I hope I by the way to the people watching, I'm very sorry for eating. I'm very sorry. But they would purposely give themselves that worm so they could lose weight, which I mean if it works, I fine, but how can how can you just wake up every morning knowing that there's some thing living inside of you? Anything but going to the fucking gym, I guess. That is disgusting. Is it is gross. Also, I think that might I think it would it was dangerous because like if it laid eggs, oh you felt oh no, did he actually disconnect? Did he I don't I think I hear him? I don't think he disconnected. I I heard something I don't know This is a great start Oh is that him texting me? Yep what what do you say? God damn it Oh his internet shut down shut down No But uh at least while I have you here um I I think the one dangerous thing about the ringworm slash tapeworm slash whatever the fuck it's called is like I think what like lay eggs in you and oh yeah if if the leg the legs could like get in your bloodstream and like get into your muscles, which that you know led to very serious issues, yeah. But and now everyone wants to get this lettuce parasite so they can lose weight. But the thing is, because it gives you diarrhea. So I'm pretty sure any weight you lose is gonna be like 90% water weight, which that is not good to lose. You're gonna you're gonna be dehydrated as absolute hell if you're trying to use that as a weight loss. Now these dumb people do what they want to do, I guess. I don't know. I I guess. But uh now I'm not a doctor, so don't so don't take my word as confirmation. I could be wrong about a few things or many things, but as far as I know, like I don't think that's gonna I I don't think it's gonna work the way people think it works. Or not, well probably not I guess it does work, it works, I guess. I don't know, man. Good thing I'm more into Taco Bell's breakfast. I don't really have lettuce on that, so honestly, we're not sponsored by Taco Bell, by the way. Uh yes. Nor are we uh what's the word? Um we're not trying to make a statement either saying that Taco Bell is going to give you the parasite. We don't want to make that statement. We don't want to make you guys get fear-mongered about Taco Bell. Uh as far as I don't even know too much. I think it's what you guys heard the reports or something like that. I think that's I saw some, I think I was remember seeing something on Instagram. I was like, something about Taco Bells. It's a a diarrhea pair or something. Like, oh that sounds real fun. Like that shit doesn't already give you fucking diarrhea in the first place. Like I've I don't really get that way when I eat Taco Bell. I don't either, but I know there's a lot of people that that shit makes them shit real bad, but that's I I know that's the running joke of it. Yeah. And and everyone's I I don't know about everyone, but I've seen a lot of people using Taco Bell as the meme for the parasite. But we have sponsored these sessions. We are not officially stating that Taco Bell is gonna give you the parasite. We don't want a lawsuit. If you're back.

SPEAKER_00

I am the technical difficulties at a such convenient timing.

SPEAKER_01

Your uh well, your your internet just went down for a moment.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it just decided that it didn't want it just needed a break, I guess. From all that internet that I haven't been using.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly. It's my bedtime, not yours. Alrighty. Well, are you guys ready to get into the main event of today's episode? Yeah. The topic of the hour. The topic of the hour. I actually like that name. I might I might we might just be using it. So today's today's main event is what I am going to call the most grounded gears. Grounded gears? Yes. I will I will explain. So do you guys know the I don't know if it originated from Family Guy, but it's that's probably where a lot of people know it from. You guys know their little bit when Peter Griffin went onto uh Fox News and he did the you know what really grinds my gears part of it? Oh yeah, yes. Today's episode grind gears. I said the most grounded gears. Oh, I don't because I don't I don't think I don't think grinded is a word.

SPEAKER_00

I heard grounded years for some grounded years, yeah. Yeah, that's what I was like, what are we talking about?

SPEAKER_01

The most grounded gears. Okay, okay. So today's episode is inspired by that. So how it's going to work is um you guys are going to talk about what really grinds your gears, which if anyone's watching and doesn't know what that is, it's basically just talking about some of the little things in life that happens that just really pisses you off. That just really makes you angry, makes you want to just punch something, you know. I enjoy this. Okay. So you get you guys are going to discuss um what really gr like one of the things that really grinds your gears. And uh I'll do like one of you goes and then the other one goes. Um and I will take whatever grinds you guys' gears, and I will compare them and I will go over it thinking, okay, which one do I think would grind my gears worse? And whoever whoever has whoever whoever can grind their gears, I I'm trying to come up with terminology. Whoever's I think is the worst is uh I'll I'll give them the point. Not worse in like quality, but worse in like yeah, that I think it would be worse to have that happen. Um whoever has the worst one, uh they will get the point. So, and try to really get into it, you know. Talk about why and how it grinds your gears and just why it really makes you feel that angry. So, do you guys have any questions before we start?

SPEAKER_00

No, I think you went over it pretty well.

SPEAKER_01

Alrighty. So this is gonna be round one, okay? Alright, all right. Round one. Now, who wants to go first? I'll go first. Yeah, I'll let him go first. You wanna you wanna go first? Okay. Take the spotlight, Ethan.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, so you you wanna know what really grinds my gears? When you're when you have great internet service and it chooses to just go ahead and just shut down in the most convenient timing. So so mind you, this isn't the first time that something like this has happened with uh Windstream, uh not sponsored by the way. Um Windstream has I I don't know if it's just a me thing or if it's a windstream thing, but it conveniently shuts down at like the most convenient timing. Any other time it's completely fine, you won't have any issues. The only issue that you typically have is your download speed. I would have like a one gigabyte update and it'd take like half an hour. But um so like what just happened just now, middle of recording this uh first first episode of the podcast, and it just says just decides uh everything's gonna go blurry for a minute, you're gonna start questioning it, and then suddenly you're just gone. You check your internet, it's just not non-existent. Um there'd be times where I'd play like um where I play ranked on a shooter game, and you know, I would be going like probably seven kills, one death. I'm feeling myself. You're like in an overtime rounder of fucking like you're up 3-1 and suddenly you're gone. It's like okay, why? And then you get that little pop-up on the top right of my screen, internet connection loss. Yeah, don't say, but um it doesn't like obviously help with the fact that I don't call the the um internet providers and be like, what the hell just happened? So I'm just left with like questions, just like, why the fuck would you choose now to be like, oh, we're just not we're just gonna disconnect you from everything. Most people I will say, me personally, live off the internet. If it shuts down, my entire world just crumbles.

SPEAKER_01

Is that what Grangy Gears? Hey, I mean I can definitely relate to that because oh my god, you be spending so much money on the internet these days, and it's just those times, especially those times when it like happens multiple times a day, and it's just like, what am I even paying you for?

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah, yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_01

Uh and especially when you're in the middle of a game that like when you disconnect, it punishes you because it thinks you just quit the game. Yeah, so not only did you just lose all your rewards you got from that match, but now you're banned for like what 15 minutes is the usual timer it does. And it's like, oh my god, I can't fucking believe this shit.

SPEAKER_00

I think the last time it happened was like a couple weeks ago. And um we were up 2-1. I got kicked out, I came back, suddenly it was 2-2. I was like, yeah, looks like you guys needed me for that round.

SPEAKER_01

I I love the uh I love the meme uh where it's like uh what I think is the movie called Mega Mind. It's uh it's the scene where like Metro Man is doing his like super speed, so like the whole world is frozen, and it's like me for real when I start losing my internet connection in the game. He's just walking around seeing everyone just completely frozen, like chilling.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly how it feels.

SPEAKER_01

No, that uh yeah, no, that definitely is something that would grind the gears.

SPEAKER_00

With the new uh with the new ports added to the PlayStation for Black Ops 2, the constant migrating hosts screen that you'll get like every single time. Oh my god. It gives you that it gives you that simple reminder, like, oh hey, all these people having internet problems. I forget that we pay for this stuff.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, you know, it because it was so long ago when I played the Black Ops 2 like multiplayers, I never even gave it any thought. So it's they do they just pick like one of the players to host the server? Yeah, I think so. Yeah, pretty much. I I'm surprised. I mean, I guess they probably were a smaller studio, so I guess they wouldn't have their own like official dedicated servers or whatnot. No, but that's kind of crazy to think about because that was it was even back back in the day, maybe not back in the day, but it was a while ago when you think about it, like compared to now.

SPEAKER_00

Um which your first thought of Black Ops 2 was me knowing every single spawn and just spawn killing you every single fucking time.

SPEAKER_01

I even remembered, I even remember the spawn points from Nuke Town, and goddamn, you still fucking got my ass with all that shit.

SPEAKER_00

That just goes like, how do you know every spawn?

SPEAKER_01

I even remembered, it's just like okay, I spawned here, I think he's gonna come from this way, but I'm not because I my my shooter is just hell let loose. I I play I play much more tactical. I have completely I've completely lost in touch with all the fast movement crap, which it might be a bit of an exaggeration. Might be a little bit of an exaggeration because it definitely wasn't as much as the later iterations were, but I s I still want to say Black Ops 2 compare it to maybe like Insurgency, Sandstorm, or Hell It Loose, it's definitely still faster paced. Yeah, no, I completely lost in touch with that. I got way too I got way too into the tactical stuff.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But no, losing internet connection, that is definitely something that grinds gears.

SPEAKER_00

God, that is actually like now that you mentioned it, that's like the worst part of playing like multiple different shooter games is that the way that you have to play it is so different with the same concept. You have your tactical options like like for me, it's it's the difference between playing Siege and playing COD. It's such a difference that it's so painful. I play basically searching to show you on one and TDM on the other. TDM, I don't care. I'll I will just run and gun and die how many times and I'll just respawn. Siege is such a pain. Every single time to die, I just have to spectate the rest of the round. Oh yeah. Mind you, they do they do have TDM in uh Siege, but it's absolutely garbage. Yeah, no. Really?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they added it a while ago. They added a bunch of little like game modes. Like TDM that you isn't a TDM that like you respawn it in. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh. Yeah, there's also like a free-for-all and Shelly Luds. That's it's Ubyscape. Oh, they did, yeah, they did. Yeah, it was just weaponry let and it was actually great. Listen, it's their game, they can do what they want, but like I feel like Rainbow Six Siege is pretty much known on the search and destroy and the hostage. And wait, okay. There's a third one I'm missing. It's the one where there's two bombs, the one where there's hostage area bomb hostage, and uh secure area. Yeah, how do they do secure area? Is it do they just outline the room, or is there like something in the room that's kind of yeah, it's it's a high.

SPEAKER_00

Let it run basically like capture.

SPEAKER_01

Basically, kind of like capture the flag, yeah. You kind of just gotta stay in the room for long enough to capture that area. So command looks at this place and it's like, okay, I need you to secure this bedroom. No particular reason why. Just get this bedroom, okay? Basically, yeah, absolutely. But I mean, even then, like they base their identity based on that. It seems kind of weird. You would just a casual team death match where you respawn, but honestly, I would just use those game modes when I would play rainbow as like warm-up games, and then I would just play every or something. Yeah. Because you don't gotta take it too seriously. So I mean. Fair enough.

SPEAKER_00

Like, I'm not worried about my KD or having to die or having to die because then I'm just gonna respawn.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Well, that out of the way, Riley, it's your turn. What really grinds your gears? Well really grinds my goddamn gears. What? What's that? When a specific city wants to start working on all the same roads at the same goddamn time instead of fixing them, maybe when they really need it at that point. Alright. First it was like bluff, the end of bluff. They're still working on that shit. It's been two fucking. It's been two years. They got a road over by Seth's house that they're still working on. I think they did finish. Oh wait, no, they're still doing that one part in the new station. They've made progress on it though, finally. Anyway, progress on it. I don't mean interrupt, but it's just gone. It's like, especially when you don't know they're about to close a road and say you need to go to fucking work or something. Not yet, let's especially like I remember I was almost late a couple times MFT. Because how many roads they would fucking close? I'd go all the way around up to the fucking up to my Walmart and shit just to get to work. It's like, come on, man. Like just fix the roads when you need them. You don't need to be doing it all at the same time. And I swear to god, they've fixed a lot of these roads four like five separate times already. Like you've already fixed this road. Why are you fixing it again? Like, oh my god, dude. What's that one road? I can't think of the road. It's the one next to Pershing that they're still working on. Um I can't remember the actual name of that road. I don't know if I remember the name either. But they've reworked on that road like four times, I swear to god. And they're still working on it. It's like, what can you possibly be doing at this point that you haven't already done to it? Doesn't make any sense to me.

SPEAKER_00

They recently fixed that one right next to Mezcal, and oh my god. Oh yeah, I forgot that. That's been needing that's been needing to be done for fucking years, and they finally fixed it. And it felt so much better having to go to advanced auto instead of hitting those millions of fucking holes that they just left there.

SPEAKER_01

Oh man. Yeah, no, like that really I can relate to that because oh my god. I s we I mean, we still gotta deal with all this crap. Uh-huh. Like, oh my goodness, like there there'd be nights where I'd like I'd want to go to the liquor store to get myself a little thing and a drink. That there's the one liquor store on I'm pretty sure it's Bluck Street. Yeah, they've changed it so much. Like before, you could just drive across the intersection and go right to it. And then um, and then they changed they started working on the back end, so hey, I could still go in, but anyone wants to come in from the other side, and then and then they uh like closed off the entire road, but it was still open to it, so okay, no worries, I guess. Then they closed off the front part, so now I gotta go all the way around to get to the store. And then they just worked on the entire road, but they had it like where one lane was still open, so okay, that's cool. And then they said, nope, scratch that, we're gonna go back to the previous part. It's not gonna go all the way around again, and then they just closed it off completely. So you like I can't even get I think you still can get into it, but it just flat out says road close, and I don't really trust that. I don't wanna I don't wanna screw my car up going on a non-existent road, you know? That's fair.

SPEAKER_00

That's what makes me realize how much I appreciate it more when like they put up the sign like three days prior to be like, hey, we're gonna close this road off in like this this day. It's like, oh sweet, okay. At least now I got fucking time to plan on detour.

SPEAKER_01

That that is a saving grace, at least.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. But working on the same road for two years, yeah, and somehow we still haven't finished it. We just keep continuing to work on it. We'll go right back to where we already were. They just worked on it. Let's let's fix it up again, even though no one's driven on it because it's been closed.

SPEAKER_01

Like, I swear they have made no progress down by where Perina is. It looks no different than it did like six months ago. It's ridiculous.

SPEAKER_00

It's like at that rate, just postpone any of the other road closures and just get more people on it, and maybe then it could be done maybe a little sooner. But right now, our ETA is looking like five years.

SPEAKER_01

It sucks too, because like this isn't a big city, so even when it gets close to dawn, that's when they like just stop working on it. So it's it it really does take them a long time. So especially bluff, because they've been working up bluff, so who knows how long that's really fun to be going on.

SPEAKER_00

Like at that rate at the rate it's going, we might as well have a goddamn ribbon ceremony for when they actually do finish it, and it could finally all be opened up.

SPEAKER_01

Like, geez, dude. Send it to just send it send the whole parade through the road. This is the new road, yeah. Like, I wouldn't want to drive on it anymore.

SPEAKER_00

Like five years, but we finally got it.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so internet connection loss versus road construction. If I gotta be honest, I think Riley takes the point on this one.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely. I I very much agree.

SPEAKER_01

Because internet, I mean internet connection loss, like it sucks. But usually it like I think the worst that happens is maybe you'll get bad weather around the tower. So there if there might be a day you lose it. But compared to this that's been going on for so long, yeah. I I I I think Riley's I think Riley's gears are more gr uh grounded. Oh, they've been grinded.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god. Yeah, no. Uh that it's so bad.

SPEAKER_01

Alright. Round two. Should we switch it up? Should we have Riley go first this time? If y'all want, we can do that. Do you have something in mind that grinds you geared? Yeah. I feel like this one's way less uh like impactful as the other one, but you know, let's say it's maybe especially when you're coming from a long day of work. Let's say you're in a lane and this guy is going like 10 under, and you're just trying to get home, you just want to get the fuck home, but you you know, maybe you want to get to the next lane, but you can't, because there's all these cars coming next to you, and this dude's going 25 on a fucking 40 road. I just I want to get out and start beating that dude. Start punching him in the face. Not like that, not beating him like that. I see you laughing over there, Seth. Yes. But yeah, no, that's real annoying, especially when you just want to get the hell home, like take a shower or something. Oh yeah. Is that what grinds your gears? It does be grinding my gears sometimes.

SPEAKER_00

It happened to me the other the other morning. I was going to work. Not only was this dude like swerving on both ends of the shoulders, left and right, but like it would go he would go from like it's a 55 speed limit, would be going from 45, next thing you know, they're at 60, and next thing you know, we're going back down. I basically have to slam on my brakes because this dude couldn't pick a speed limit. And so they get into the other lane to you know turn, and I just fucking blare my horn at them, like, can you get the fuck off the road for the love of God? Like, I don't know what you're doing if you are either drunk off your mind or if you're just on your phone, but please stop.

SPEAKER_01

Bro, bro's hit the bargaining stage and the five stages of grief.

SPEAKER_00

You can't even like it's like when you got a person in front of you swerving to the left and right, you don't even know if you want to pass them because what if they decide fuck it? I'm gonna start swerving towards the left right at you.

SPEAKER_01

No, that's fair. That I I probably wouldn't risk it either, unless if it's one of those like 10-laned roads. Oh man. No, I that is relatable, uh, to a degree at least. Like, I don't really worry about it too much if I'm just casually driving or if I'm on my home from work or that, but if there's a place I gotta get to, and then like they're doing they're going way under. I'm just like, can you please? It says speed limit 35. I am going 20 and I'm catching up to you. Please. But yeah, no, that that that's that's a worthy gear grinding. What about you, Eve? What grinds your gears?

SPEAKER_00

Oh motherfucker, you want to know what really grinds my gears.

SPEAKER_01

What grinds your gears, Ethan?

SPEAKER_00

Supermarkets as a whole. As I am a person that works in a supermarket, um many topics that we can kind of go off of just this in general. But one in particular that I can name is just the customers that decide to share a fucking reunion in the middle of an aisle. Motherfucker. If you want to have a reunion, you can do it at home. But you decide to chill in the aisle where I need to go. And this could be coming this could become from a worker's perspective or even as a customer. Cause it would be like the one item that I came to buy, and you decide just to sit right there and to the point where I like want to lose my patient and just be like, Can you just get the fuck out of the way, please? It would be that concept. Or the people that sit there, stand there for like 10 minutes is trying to decipher, like, hmm, which one do I want? Motherfucking, you know what you want. Yeah. You you I see I see you, I saw you here like last week buy the same brand of chips over and over, and now suddenly you want to decide, ooh, which one do I want? There's so many choices. Buddy, I will grab that bag that I saw you grab last week and be like, here, get don't don't play this little mind game of like, oh, this this brand kind of sounds a little better. No, it doesn't. You just want to stick to a routine, just grab the same thing that you grabbed last week.

SPEAKER_01

Oh man. Is that what Grangig is? Fucking customers at supermarkets, man. They do we get in the way a lot.

SPEAKER_00

There was so like there was only like a few times where I had worked uh overnights, and that was for the uh that was for our Black Friday event. And let me let me tell you something. The amount of uh peace that was in that store when there are no customers in the building, it's it's truly something incredible.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, were there were there peas spilled all over the floor?

SPEAKER_00

Huh?

SPEAKER_01

Were there peas spilled all over the floor? Is that what you mean? He said peace. Peace. Oh. Sorry, because there's no customers.

SPEAKER_00

There's no customers. That would suck if there are peas over the floor. Oh man, so she is, you know, just stocking the shelves, doing their job, not in the way, of literally everything. No, I think we're looking at it from a worker's perspective, it's just like, dude, I'm only here eight hours, I'm just trying to get my job done, and you just decide that you either want to bring your family of nine all together to go grocery shopping, your kids are running in front of me with my cart, and like I'm ensuring my best that I don't just randomly hit your kid because you don't want to pay attention to them as you're trying to do your grocery shopping. It's just like, oh my god, there's so many reasons to why customers just as a whole could piss me off, and all I can do is just greet them with a smile and be like, hi, how can I help you? When in hindsight, all that I can think of my head is just, dude, just leave me alone, please.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. No, that that is uh unfortunately relatable because I too have had those instances, not even just in Walmart, just in a few places where like everyone's like gathered around, which there's no problem with that in particular, but like when it's in the most inconvenient way, like not way, but like space, you know, it's like guys, like I people people regularly walk through here, you know. Like, can you maybe take it somewhere else? Like, you'd think they'd probably realize, like, oh hey, there's a lot of people trying to come through. Maybe let's let's let's move where there's more space, but no, why would they do that? Why would they do that?

SPEAKER_00

I recently had an incident working in uh produce, and someone from online grocery came over to me, was like, hey, uh, I got a customer out here looking for jalapenos. It's like, oh, okay, just give me a second. This customer randomly just walks in the back into my back room. I was just and was like, Do you find those jalapenos yet? Like, buddy, you're not even supposed to be back here. I was like, I'm like, how badly I just want to say, like, get the fuck out. No, I had to be like, Yeah, I will look in just a minute. She was like, Do you know how long it's gonna take? I was like, I'll get to it once I'm done here. She was like, Can you hurry? It's kind of hot out here. And the first thought I was in my mind's like, I don't give a fuck. Get out of here.

SPEAKER_01

No, I literally had that thing happen too at work. Like, I I I was in the back just traying up food to bring it out, and then suddenly I just see this guy walk in just in into the into the kitchen. And at first I'm thinking, okay, he might he might be here to deliver some like beers or something for us to restock. But he he out loud asked, like, you guys know when my takeout order is gonna be done? And I'm like, wait, you're a customer. If you're a customer, why are you back here in an employees-only area?

SPEAKER_02

Hey man.

SPEAKER_01

I at first I really wanted to tell him, like, hey, you can't be back here, dickhead. You gotta go back up front. We will get the order for you. Now I didn't say that, of course. I just like, yeah, we'll take a look at it. And he walked out. But like me and all the cooks back there, like all just looked at each other like what just happened. Hey, bro, he just wants his takeout, man. And you'll get your takeout. But there's like five other takeouts that we have to do first. Yeah. Oh man.

SPEAKER_00

There was like um episodes in Hell's Kitchen to where uh Gordon Ramsey would like flip out at a customer because they're up at the uh kitchens. Like the amount of times where I wish I could have just been like that, where I actually had the balls and like do it and feel as if I couldn't get fired for it. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

I used to watch that shit all the time.

SPEAKER_00

Such a banger.

SPEAKER_01

Oh man. Well, let's see. So low drivers, people getting in the way.

SPEAKER_00

I'm giving this one to Ethan. Customers at Customer Business.

SPEAKER_01

Alrighty. Time for round three. Would you like to go first again, Ethan?

SPEAKER_00

Um, that's actually gonna take me a second to think of one.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not gonna lie. That's fine. That's okay. Uh do you have something in mind, Riley? I do. It's kind of similar to Ethan's last one. Really guides my gears. Let's say you're maybe you're going to uh let's say McDonald's or something. You're trying to order double cheeseburger, let's say. And the cashier you're dealing with is the bitchiest bitch of all time. Like, just order my fucking food, shut your fucking mouth, alright? You don't gotta be bitching at me. I understand like, you know, some people, if you don't like people, I don't think you should be working at a place you gotta deal with people. It's it's not a fun experience for everybody, especially if you're just all mad and bitching at everybody the entire time. It's like just go home. Do something with your life, man.

SPEAKER_00

That should really show up. Very true concept where I started like in the uh working in the back rooms here, unloading mostly unloading truck. Back room yes, the back room. Where I was a team leading OGP, so where I would just spend most of my time in the back room. Um working to be in produce is actually kind of my first sales floor experience. And it started to hit me like, oh god. People actually suck. Like I I went from like not having to deal with like anybody other than my coworkers in the bags in the back rooms, didn't have to deal with customers at all. To now suddenly like, oh, people are everywhere and like all around me and they're in my bubble and it's just not a fun time. Although that although me and Produce is like the like calmest department I've been in in my three years of working at Walmart.

SPEAKER_01

I do wanna call the customers. I do wanna ask Riley when you say the cashier is being bitchy, do you mean like she's just like in general being rude? Or is is there like something specific that they tend to do? Uh I won't say anything. Like sometimes they just have an attitude about everything, like when you're ordering or you're maybe asking for help, like, can I get like a ketchup packet or a ranch packet or something? And they got an attitude about it. Like, I'm just asking a simple question here. You don't gotta you don't gotta give me attitude, you know. I'm just asking the question here, man. Yeah, I I feel like I've ran into that before where I'm I'm asking someone, like, hey, can you just do this little thing for me? Can you do this little favor? Can I get some of this? And they say yes, but you can you can visibly see in the way they express it and vocalize it. In their head, they're more or less saying, Fine, I'll get you your damn shit. It's like, damn, just let me go back there, I'll get it myself if it's that big of a deal. Like, geez.

SPEAKER_00

Like, do you want me to go back there and cook my own food? Because I'm sh I I I bet you anything, I could probably make it better. Yeah. I will make that shit the fucking Akiway if I have to.

SPEAKER_01

Don't worry. I know what I'm doing. I won't put any lettuce in it. Yeah, that's fair. Should know, maybe get some lettuce in there, fucking sue them or something. Right. I don't know how how quite that would work, because you're probably in an employees-only area. Yeah, that's fair. So it's like, I don't know if I don't know how that's gonna go in your favor in the court, but I mean, hey, like you said yourself, you wanna if you wanna risk it, try it for yourself.

SPEAKER_00

If if I was in a manager's position and I had a I had an employee that was just like kind of being an asshole through a drive thru, I'd just kinda be like, you know what, man, hey none of these people are liking their jobs right now. If you just wanna go ahead and just do their jobs for them, you're more than welcome to. I'll even share their pay with you. Oh, they're taking an hour lunch. Well, guess what? You're gonna step in, you're gonna get what you need, you're gonna do a little bit, and you're gonna get that pay.

SPEAKER_01

I bet that would 100% work. Oh, definitely.

SPEAKER_00

Totally, totally.

SPEAKER_01

And by that I mean it probably wouldn't work at all because who who wants to work? Although I do wanna ask, have you guys ever had those people come in and just be like, hey, I'm in the need of a little bit of money, can I just like do some dishes for you guys or something? Because I I've had some of those people come in like certain times, and I'm just like, uh I don't think we can do that now. If if you want to work here, you gotta you gotta, you know, put an application.

SPEAKER_00

So what I will say is that I've had quite the opposite happen working at Walmart. Um I went to the I went to go use the restroom, and um I had to inform a manager that there was just a guy in the bathroom washing his dishes in our fucking sink. This actually was the thing that happened. I should you not this dude had I believe I counted seven plates and three forks off to the side, and I'm pretty mind you, I'm pretty sure he was using the fucking hand washing soap to clean his dishes. It wasn't it wasn't even this soap, it was just the hand washing soap that he was using to wash off his seven plates and his three fucking. And I'm just sitting there, I'm just standing there, like I I was in awe. It took me like a whole like 10 seconds just watching this and be like, watching this happen, and I'm just like, okay, you know what? I'm gonna have to go get somebody for this because how am I supposed to come out this time and be like, hey, so like don't do that. Like, I there's just no way that I'm watching this happen. I'm sure if you're here buying groceries, you have I would hope you would have enough money to pay your fucking water bill to do your own dishes in your own fucking sink. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god. I'm surprised you need to go grab a bottle of this soap real quick and just start using that.

SPEAKER_00

Be like, here, buddy, I I'm here to do my job. Here, let me get let me store you the bottle of this soap, and let me just get that done for you.

SPEAKER_02

Jesus.

SPEAKER_00

It's like we have a protein sink, we have a meat sink. If you are in that time of desperation, dude, I would just be like, here, give them to me, I'll take care of them for you. We have a sanitize, we have a sanitize hose, we have a fucking we have a sprayer, dude. You need them done, I got you. But like, I don't ever want to have to go try to use the restroom at my place of work and see someone using hand washing soap in a fucking bathroom sink to do your damn dishes.

SPEAKER_01

Oh man. So you just walked in there just like, can I help you? And it's just like, I'm just washing my dishes.

SPEAKER_00

In a public fucking restroom.

SPEAKER_01

It's not even like this is the restroom.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's not even like it was the family restroom where you it's just one singular uh toilet where you can lock the door and enjoy privacy. Nope, you're just doing this in a public restroom. But um, when it comes to like the when it comes to like my two years of working in the food industry, not once did I ever have somebody be like, oh hey, I don't have enough for the bill, can I just like wash them dishes? That surprisingly never happened. I probably worked in the most expensive restaurant in town, and that never happened.

SPEAKER_01

You know, you had me curious at first when you said you had the exact opposite happen. I was like, what do you possibly mean by that? I was not expecting people washing dishes in the restroom.

SPEAKER_00

It's like, oh, I had enough, I had enough money to buy groceries, but do you mind if I just wash some dishes in my f in your fucking restroom?

SPEAKER_01

I mean, why drive all the way home to wash those dishes when you could just do it at the store that you just bought those dishes from? Okay, but he clearly brought those with a purpose though.

SPEAKER_00

Like that's the weird part. Yeah, like what the fuck are we in right now?

SPEAKER_01

Like he drove all the way to Walmart just to wash some dishes. Like, what is going on? Oh, that's funny. Oh man. Alright. Well, do you have do you have gear grinding, Ethan?

SPEAKER_00

I have a couple choices. I think I'm gonna go I think I know which one I'm gonna go with. And here's what really grinds my gears, gentlemen. Neighborhoods to a degree. Especially specifically when you are in a three-story building and you're on the second floor and um you have asshole neighbors, especially the ones above you, when you are trying to sleep and they are in the middle of their most hyper hyper rush ever. And all you hear, you're trying to sleep, mind you, and all you can hear is a bunch of stomping, a bunch of yelling, and you like it only works if you don't know the person because you can't just message and be like, dude, can you shut up up there? Like some people have to work in the morning. But like there there's been multiple there's been multiple instances, like it doesn't even have to be like in an apartment complex or in like a multiple story building. You just there's asshole neighbors like everywhere that like to think that they're fucking like HOA or something like that, trying to implement rule rules that have nothing to do with what you're doing. I say, buddy, just mind your own business, first off. Second off, mow your fucking grass. Yeah. Like the property the property line is right here and the grass is uneven. Like my OCD is about to freak the fuck out. Like, you want me to mow your grass for you? Oh no. That would I about say that would be crossing the property line, you get pissed off at me. Oh my fault. But uh but no, there are just certain neighbors that like certainly do grind one's gears. Thankfully, I live in what is barely called a town because of how small it is. That I I've lived in the same neighborhood for 16 years, not once have had a single problem with any of my neighbors. But I've been in multiple instances where I'm at an apartment complex and Seth knows this of having to use a metal fucking baseball bat to pound up onto the ceiling because we have neighbors that decide that we're going to bang on every single piece of furniture, stomp on the floor, and just cause great fucking havoc.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. That's fun. Um, I I I I be dealing with it sometimes because uh where I am right now, I don't our neighbors are actually pretty nice. Um my only issue though is the parking. I be hating when like because our driveway gets taken up already uh by the people who live here, and then we park on the side. We used to be able to park just in the street, like right outside, but then for some reason the city looked at our street and thought too big, but let's shrink it down a little bit. So now there's only room on one side to park the cars. You can't do it, you can't do it on both sides anymore, and that fucked us up so bad because now our parking space has been reduced a lot. Now we only have the driveway and the other side of the house, which the you know, if you work out the space well, you can probably fit like three cars over there, but there's times when they park like in the middle, or there'll just be a gap in the middle that's like too tight, I can't get in, and it's really inconvenient because then like I gotta go around and it's like, well, I'm just I'm I guess I had to park out in front of my neighbor's house and be an inconvenience to them. But other than that, I've never really had an issue with my neighbors here. Although I will say, when I well uh I want to say it was a yeah, a few years ago when I lived in an apartment, um I was the asshole neighbor. I'm not gonna lie. Shame on you, shame on me. Cause I I'd stay up very late playing games, and I wouldn't try to purposely be loud, but I'm willing to bet there were definitely a number of times where I did end up probably being a bit loud. What I was surprised my neighbor never complained to me. I'm honestly shocked because I remember this one time I got hungry at like two o'clock in the morning. So I was like, okay, I'm gonna make myself a Tostino's pizza. And I cook it, pull it out of the oven, all of a sudden, boom, boom. I was like, you gotta be fucking kidding me. The smoke alarm starts going off.

SPEAKER_00

There was uh electrophone, sorry here.

SPEAKER_01

And like the weird thing, I don't know what it is about toasting those pizzas, because they're they never get burnt at all. They are perfectly fine, but for some reason they would love to set off the smoke alarm. I I and like my oven there. And like my oven wasn't the cleanest, but it I don't think it was it didn't seem dirty enough to like actually start breaking down and maybe causing smoke or some crap. I like I don't know what it is. I don't know if it happens to anyone else, but I swear it's the Tostino's pizzas. I was like, okay, I think this is the last time I'm making Tostino's pizzas because that I don't I hate the smoke alarms so much. That's fair.

SPEAKER_00

You are very much correct on that, too. Because like it is only conveniently only Totino's pizzas that actually only caused that issue.

SPEAKER_01

So I'm not the only one, thank God.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you're not the only one. Um, but to top off what you were mentioning about parking, um, I feel as if like as a property manager of an apartment complex, because I was warned about the place that I was moving into uh this upcoming week, that like, oh hey, the only thing that you really have to worry about is parking. What do you mean that I'm gonna have to worry about parking? If you are a property manager and you are building all these complexes, don't you think that you would want to build enough parking for everybody to, you know, not have to worry about it? Because at the at the uh complex that my girlfriend lives at, that's never an issue. There's always parking available. But after I was told about like, oh hey, you might have to worry about parking, it made me realize like, oh shit, I am gonna have to worry about parking, because for some reason that apartment complex is always filled with cars everywhere. You would be lucky to find a parking spot. And it's I it told me took me a while to think about it because it's like, why is that even an issue? Why why would that have to be an issue? Because as a property manager, if you're gonna build all these apartment complexes, at least build a spot for where every everyone could park.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, I've um I've been to those apartments quite a number of times. Uh I used to hang out with someone who I'm pretty sure still lives in those apartments actually. Um I never like it never got bad enough to where I couldn't find a parking spot, but I mean a lot of those space fucking English. I I should start speaking Spanish or something, good god. Um I did notice though a lot of those spaces usually are end up being taken. So and because you know there's not really a lot of parking space over there. It's pretty small compared to like the rest of the building. Um so I guess I can see why they would warn you about the parking, which is kind of weird.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely. Um, to top off your um smoke alarm, smoke your alarm uh story. I have I also have a story myself. Yeah. Um there was uh randomly one day where I I can't remember where I was even at, if I was at work or if I was somewhere else, but my landlord had called me and was like, hey, are you home? I was like, uh no, why? Well your smoke alarm has been going off for a while now. Buddy, do you think if I was home I would just let it keep going? I was like, oh well that's not good. Like I hope I hope my house isn't just burning down. But um I had found out recently that the place I'm moving in in this apartment complex, I am actually cornered between like three other Walmart associates. Oh god. So I made sure to let them know that like, hey, so like if I'm ever loud, just go ahead and message me or come to my door and tell me to shut the fuck up. Cause like there has been multiple instances to where like, yeah, exactly, like how Seth said it. Sometimes when I'm gaming, I get a little carried away and I get a little loud. My girlfriend is too, definitely.

SPEAKER_01

But uh oh no, she 100% does. I damn well know it.

SPEAKER_00

There'd be multiple times where she was like screaming, like, hey, you have neighbors.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, just like I'm just casually smoking my phone and she's done she's like she's not loud. So I'm like, oh my god, I can't believe you think the neighbors are the loud ones.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, no shit. So I I would have to be like so I I made sure to tell all my uh about to be neighbors, like, hey, so like if that ever happens, just let me know and tell me to shut up.

SPEAKER_01

Anyways, I gotta I gotta give this last point. So uh rude employees and bad neighbors. I gotta be honest.

SPEAKER_00

Not gonna lie, that one's a tough one.

SPEAKER_01

I think I gotta give it to either because uh the rude customer service, I mean like usually it's like you're only there, like you said like in McDonald's, you're usually unless you like are eating in there, even honestly, I guess regardless, you don't really have to interact with the cashier for that long, so it just sours the mood for a little bit, but you end up forgetting about it. Yeah, but but when you have bad neighbors, neighbors are people you for the most part are gonna be living next to for a long time. That sucks when you have shitty neighbors because you that's so that's something you might have to deal with on the regular.

SPEAKER_00

On the regular, on the regular, because actually one of my soon-to-be uh neighbors was mentioning to me, so like, like, oh hey, so you're gonna be on my left, and to my right are the worst neighbors I've ever had to live with. I was like, oh dude, I feel for you. And uh let me just tell you, the people on your left, which is soon to be me, are not gonna make it any better, I promise.

SPEAKER_01

Oh man. So with that being said, Riley has one point, Ethan has two. No.

SPEAKER_00

I say we want to do one more.

SPEAKER_01

Uh it's going it would have to be. I don't know if I want to do one more, because we have only like three minutes left if our designated time.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but we also like have like roughly 10 minutes that we kind of have to cut out for uh uh uh pre-monologue and as well as my internet cutout.

SPEAKER_01

It could. But then if it become if Riley wins the next one, it's gonna be two and two, which means we have to do another one to do the tiebreaker.

SPEAKER_00

Not necessarily, because that just means we're all winners here.

SPEAKER_01

No, we can't all be winners.

SPEAKER_00

Damn.

SPEAKER_01

Unfortunate. Uh um nah, I I think I will end it here.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think we're gonna cut it early.

SPEAKER_01

So, with that being said, Ethan wins episode one. How does it how does it feel too won?

SPEAKER_00

It feels good, but I definitely have like a few other uh gear grinding situations.

SPEAKER_01

Honestly, I mean shoot, we could definitely come back to this in a future episode. Absolutely. Yeah, I I I I think this ended up being pretty good. Um well, ladies and gentlemen, this is the time when we wrap up the episode. So Ethan won episode one. So that's a that's a dub for him, as the little youngsters like to say it, all the Call of Duty and Fortnite kids. That's a dub. That's a dub. Which I think is stupid, by the way. Just just just say win. Just say win. That's a win for Ethan. That's a bad thing. So congratulations, Ethan. You have won episode one, and I need to actually check real quick to see which one of you two boys is hosting the next one. I think it actually is you, Ethan.

SPEAKER_00

I believe it's me, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Let me double check and make sure.

SPEAKER_00

Join us next week to to watch me host. We'll all see together how good or bad it'll end up being.

SPEAKER_01

It is indeed you, Ethan. So Ethan will be hosting the next episode coming out next week.

SPEAKER_00

This week is gonna consist of me having to both uh m start my moving pro moving process and also trying to decipher like oh, what do I want my topic gonna be?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Actually, I lied. It it next episode won't come out next week because I'm pretty sure we are gonna be releasing the first three together all together.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, right. That's right.

SPEAKER_01

So the next episode, next episode, we'll have Ethan hosting, and it'll be me and Riley competing against each other. But with that being said, this has been Small City Sessions episode one. We hope you guys enjoyed the content. We are very glad to have started this podcast. If you want to discover more of us, we are on YouTube, we are on Spotify, and I gotta find out what else we're gonna be going on to because I still gotta set up uh our distributor.
