Quiet on the set, quiet on the set. Welcome to another episode of the greatest show on earth. We're here. We're here to do what we are meant to do. We're here to take you out to the multiverse. We're here to talk about film, TV, comics, anything really. Because we're versatile like that. My main man GR, what's going on, brother? I'm good, my guy. How you doing? Give you a round of applause. I'm good. I'm good, man. I'm good. You know? Hold on, hold on. How was your week? Oh, finally. My week was great, man. Um, you know, this is uh, what is it, Memorial Day weekend? Yes. That's what we're dealing with? Yes, Memorial Day weekend. Rainy. Um, my son was supposed to be in a football tournament this weekend, but um Tournament? Yeah. Like how many games? I think it was like a two-day event little thing. Oh, I thought it was one day. Like I was gonna keep playing them like Nah, it was supposed to be like a two-day thing, but I think uh his uh his teammates, they weren't uh they weren't prepared. They didn't uh hear the call. They weren't hear the bell, they weren't dedicated. I mean, they are uh six years old, so exactly so I'm just you raising men or what? I'm trying to I mean my son was ready. So that's what exactly he was ready, he was ready.
SPEAKER_00But um, how was your weekend though, bro? My week was um I unfortunately to sound like this, it was really full of work. It was very um work-based. I worked a lot, a lot, a lot. That's all I can say. I'm not gonna sit in here and drag it out.
SPEAKER_01You're not gonna let um the casting crew know what you do when you're not powered up in your power armor? Or is that your power armor?
SPEAKER_00Are you like doing the Batman thing where when you're actually at work, that's like your Nah, this is this is my this is the real me. Okay. Work. Um we'll we'll get into that another time. But let's just say that um my job is purposeful, keeps me active. I love doing it. I work with a lot of great people, I get to help people. My other job is a little more on the uh exclusive side where I can't say too much. But the point is, it's all great. It's all good. I'm just blessed to have income.
SPEAKER_01Sounds like an evildoer. That's what I had to say. Sounds like a hero. Alter ego. One of those guys, like kind of like the punisher or something. Oh, uh anti-hero? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I like that. Okay. You're the same way. What are you talking about? What do you mean? I know what character you are. You run into them every once in a while. Alright. Okay. I'm just we're gonna we're gonna elaborate on that. That should be a topic at some point. Okay. Your personality. Who are you in this type of film, this type of film? I think that's dope. I think that's dope.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. You see, we come through with like so many things for you guys to look forward to. Casting crew, please like, subscribe, share. The real talk podcast. Look at us up on YouTube and everywhere our podcasts are played, listened to, and enjoyed. That was awesome. I tried. That was clean. And also vote vote on stuff.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because like he thinks he's winning these like skirmishes. Oh, oh, um, I know I'm winning. Okay, okay. The main thing I need y'all to vote on is euphoria. Like, vote whether I should watch it or not. Because right now I'm not feeling it and I'm not gonna watch it.
SPEAKER_01I think um vote me too. This is this is my pitch to the casting crew. I think this show is gonna force him to deal with topics that he's been ducking. I think this show is gonna force him to be uncomfortable, get out of his comfort zone. So if y'all want to see him come in here every week, because what we're gonna do is if we do convince him, we're gonna do a rewatch. And it's gonna be glorious because it's it's gonna be his first time. We've already experienced euphoria, it's almost euphoric. But he's gonna go through it for the first time, and we get to watch like a baby deer walk. I think that's gonna be so good.
SPEAKER_00So good entertainment. What topics have I been dubbing, ducking essentially? Give me an example, at least. Just give me one matter of fact. I can't say.
SPEAKER_01All right, it's gonna ruin, it's gonna ruin it. Let's leave it. I want I want the raw, I want to see you come in here and be like, I can't believe they put this on television. Like, that's that's what I want to hear. I made through all the scenes of Game of Thrones. I'm oh no, this is this guy. This you see, Game of Thrones, you can like hide behind the fact that it's fantasy. The boys? Okay, no, even there too. You can kind of hide behind the fact that this is a comic book panel. It's raunchy, it's it's a graphic novel. Seen the movie Kids? Yeah, but you see, the graphics were bad. Okay, look, look, this is this is him. Casting crew. Vote. I will put up a poll myself, personally. Pause. Um, Mr. Taylor, Mr. Taylor. I think we should just cut right to the chase, brother. Let's do it. I think we should talk about the boys finale. Because this is gonna be our first ever series finale. Series finale since we started um the Real Talk podcast. Got you. Okay. Series. There's no more the boys. There'll be spin-offs, there'll be prequels, there'll be maybe even a Shippuden, but there's no more The Boys.
SPEAKER_00The only Ship. Well, I'm probably invested. They didn't get me to invest in Orion.
SPEAKER_01But anyway, yeah. Yeah, no, well, we're gonna get we're gonna get to that. We're gonna get to that. Alright, so with no further ado. The boys season finale. Series finale. See, look at me. I'm already messing that up. It's over. It's done. We've invested what, seven years?
SPEAKER_00And that's for the best. It's for the best. It's for the best. One million and ten percent. Absolutely. Walk me through the episode. Highs, lows, what you like, what you didn't like. Um there wasn't much that I liked, to be honest. And um that's unfortunate because when this show first came out, I really liked what where they were going with it, I liked what they were doing with it. But it just um it fell so flat. And I think that's because number one, they ran out of ideas. So a lot of episodes have the same kind of circular themes. And by the time we got to this point where it's like, alright, now this character, Homelander, who we are we've invested in. This guy's the worst man ever, you know, he's sick. He used to they used to introduce these um quirks he had, like, you know, the whole breast milk thing and love. It was dope, and like the like this guy is all powerful, and he has this child and it shows you that there are a lot of people who operate like with this fake bravado deep down. It's a child. So I thought that was genius. By the end of it, you know, he's just I'm gonna kill every everyone who doesn't love me, and I'll be the king of the ashes. Sounds cool, but how we got there towards the probably from season five on is where they start to drag and they just kind of I don't know. I don't even know if they're writing anymore. I think it's I would wanna if I could bet money, I would bet that AI is helping them write some of these episodes. Because the way it closed was bad. Let me just say these one these few things. Number one, um black women. Here we go. I'm gonna start with this because black women. I don't know if y'all are catching how they and I want to say they, those who create the media that we consume. I don't know if you guys are catching how they are mocking you on television a lot of times, because what Sister Sage became in this episode to me she wasn't just she didn't go from being a super genius to being like a regular, she became an idiot. Like an idiot. They're they're giving out ideas what they should do, and she's just saying stupid. Let's just go right now. Uh-uh. All she wants to do is eat and do that. Like they just they shamed that character to me. Like she was a waste of a character. I don't think she did much ultimately. They introduced her, I think, to fill a slot, and then by the end of it, they shamed her and sent her on her way. I hated that. Played by Susan Hayward, did a phenomenal job playing the character, but again, just not like I don't know, but they I don't know why they did that. Ashley's Redemption Arc to me was cool, played by Kobe Indy. I think yeah, Kobe Indy. Um, I thought her redemption arc was great because she actually ended up helping the boys. That was probably the biggest highlight to me was that for despite all the people around her who've been who've been murdered, killed, her hair falling out from the stress, going from a secretary all the way to being the president of the United States. Um she threw all that away to help the boys destroy Homelander because she knew ultimately he was evil and she had a choice to make. She had a big choice, and she actually had the opposite situation that Firecracker had, which I thought was a great parallel. That was a redemptive quality for her character, and I thought it was very um A-train-esque. It was beautiful, um, which was great. Um, I'm gonna touch on one more thing. I think it was uh the deep was a flat character. He was just a running joke. The way he died even was kind of corny. She threw him into she had blasted him to the water, they killed him. I would rather it have been that, you know, after Homelander had played him, either he can't really die by Homelander's hand because that'd be you know another A-train thing. I would rather him have chosen to go into the water. Like, I need to go and face like what I've done. That kind of like, you know, I'm wrong. I deserve to die by the same thing that I've loved all my life. Because contrary to what we believe, he started off as a joke to a degree. It was a joking uh joke factor, like a comedy factor, but there were serious moments. Um for instance with the whole thing he did to Starlight, and that's why their final fight turned out to be this whole like she's getting her get back. The truth of the matter is she ended up you know just throwing him into the water ultimate.
SPEAKER_01She tried to redeem him though, she like was like, yo, bro, like you're scared, it's okay. Yeah, like I'm not scared. She gave him a arm, a little bit Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Maybe, but I still I think that they should have done more with the deep. You murdered Black Noir, who he's he's really just gone. Like he's just out the picture, which I thought again was another stupid just let's get rid of this character. He's dead. He uh before though, he used to have this complicated relationship with the um the squid, right? And things like that, like even when he tried to save the dolphin and ended up dying, like things like that showed that there's a ability for him to have complexity, right? And like he does actually love these sea creatures, and then um, you know, he turned on them over that gas fault, that um that gas line he I think he destroyed, right? No, he didn't do it though. He didn't do it? Nah, Black Knorr did it. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01But either way, it was on Did Black Noor do it? Yes, Black Noor did it. He took the fall for it on TV though. That's like some get back.
SPEAKER_00I you know what you're right, I remember that now.
SPEAKER_01They made him take the fall for it. They were just like, hey, that that was your pipeline, and you gotta take the blame for it.
SPEAKER_00But Black Noor did it. So even better than on a writing tip, he should have tried to reconcile. This is my opinion. He should have tried to reconcile with the people from the ocean, the sea creatures, and then basically at the end of it, just tell him, like, well, I'm gonna leave it up to y'all, what y'all do to me. And then that's how he dies, rather than you know, he just died a coward. And you know, that's the real thing, because that's kind of in line with Firecracker, but the way they fleshed out Firecracker's death was more fulfilling. Other than that, um, I'm gonna be honest, I didn't even get to really focus on the anything after um Homelander's downfall. Um even with Homelander's death, I thought it's it's justifying that Butcher killed him, but I think that there was like we talked about, there's something more that could have happened. Yeah, they almost did it. They almost it would have been better if they were like, you know what? I want you to live like this with everyone seeing who you are and you have to live. Like he went crazy though with the stuff he was saying. Just to You want to repeat some of it? No, I'm good. But everyone saw he said he would eat feces, uh-huh. He said he would perform Felatio just to live. Like they they demoralize him. Shout out to Anthony Starr, who plays um Homelander, but oh, you can't play anything else after this. You're Homelander. You might be able to get away with it, but when I see him in anything, I'm like, yo, that's homeland.
SPEAKER_01I think he gotta do a hard left, and he needs to come back in like the MCU or the DCU as like a really big, either superhero. He has to be a hero. Or like a villain that is like not like Homelander at all. Yeah, he has to actually be tough. Yeah, like like I want to see him as a villain that is like like not to do the cliche thing because it's the new shiny toy, but like a thrag-level villain, like not this just brute, more like a cerebral kind of guy who's also strong as shit, but more you know, tactical. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see it happening. No, no, of course, but I'm just you know, I'm trying to look out.
SPEAKER_00And I'll give you an example because you know, you watch these bigger shows that have run for like you know, 10 seasons. We're talking about over the course of a decade or years, right? And when you're the main character, whether it's uh antagonists or protagonists, typically they don't bounce back. No. No. Like, you know, um Kit Harrington, yes, who played um Jon Snow.
SPEAKER_01They tried it though.
SPEAKER_00They pushed, but he was in the MCU.
SPEAKER_01No, no, was he? Yes. Who'd he play? He was um gonna be the uh uh a sword character. He was going to be. Yeah, he he had like one of those scenes at the end of a movie. Oh stinger, and then they just never went back to it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's he's Jon Snow there. I don't know what he's doing now, but he's not doing what he's supposed to be. So Anthony Starr, who played Homelander, I hope that he has a successful career, but after was it seven years?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, give or take.
SPEAKER_00He drove he did a good job with the characters.
SPEAKER_01Can anybody be Homelander again?
SPEAKER_00After him? Yeah. Sure. It just won't be what it was. Well, you know what, yes, because our this generation is very like, you know, we for like you were talking about doing another Game of Thrones already. I'm like, they're doing Harry Potter. That doing still lives. Yeah. Harry Potter's actually been like farm while but you know, we we're always ready for the next thing. A lot of times they're just gonna recycle this.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. I think he's the to Joker's Heath Ledger. I think he's Homelander's. Yeah? Yeah. I think Homelander is him now. So he has to die now? I didn't go that far. Oh I think those shoes, because we have when we have not seen a Joker.
SPEAKER_00No one's gonna be better than Heath Ledger because he knows Yeah. Well, I think the performance as well. That I think that's a part of why with the Joaquin Phoenix Joker, they had to go in a totally different direction.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like they had to like it can't be anything closer to it. Because they try with this dude who keeps getting acting roles, by the way. And I want to talk about his. Yeah, Leto, Leto. Yeah, I want to talk about it because he's about to do um uh He-Man. He's gonna be He-Man. No, he plays Skeletor. Oh, okay. But we'll we'll we'll talk about that. I'm gonna add that to the docket. Remind me if I forget. Alright. But um, yeah, I just think that we have not seen like even the new Batman, uh Matt Reeves Batman with um the brooding guy that you uh Patterson. Yeah. Yeah. They they they staring clear of Joker so far. We got Penguin, we got um the Riddler. Scarecrow? Uh I think Scarecrow. No, I don't know if he's gonna be the no, they're about to do Two Face.
SPEAKER_00I could see them making Joker a female at some point.
SPEAKER_01Nah, come on now. I'm not no, you're not wrong. They do have the ability to do so. But I they they come on now. Yeah, we got Harley Quinn. We're gonna have so they're gonna make Harley Quinn a dude? It's gonna be a lesbianist relationship? Like, what's going on? It could be. You never know. Listen, this is 2026.
SPEAKER_00You are correct. They'll do whatever. And we'll talk about it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, not paid, but that's what we want to do. Yeah. By choice.
SPEAKER_00Um But ultimately, the boys, that season, that series finale finale um to me was empty, and that's because they again with shows, you drag it beyond a certain point and you lose the teeth, you lose what makes it interesting. Most most shows need four, three, four seasons, that's it.
SPEAKER_01I don't know if I agree with that.
SPEAKER_00But uh unless it has like, like, for instance, Game of Thrones has literature time. Yeah, yeah. But then as soon as they ran the literature, what happened?
SPEAKER_01That's when the show fell out the rails. All right, let me give my quick assessment because you pretty much I only disagree on slight points. So I read the comic, unfortunately for me. So so I um the comic sucks compared to the show, and the comic just sucks because it's some super edgy white boy bullshit, but to be honest with you, so very racist, very sexist, very homophobic, very all the things you can think of is that with a superhero backdrop. But unlike Invincible, where that's more of a just a part of it versus like Yeah, this uh the boys is a the nigga hates superheroes. You can tell by the first, like the characters talking about the person who wrote it? Yeah, I think his name is Garth Ennis. Okay, he Garth. Yeah, he hates superheroes. It's not like uh the um the creative invincible, his name is escaping me right now. He clearly likes superheroes, he likes Spider-Man. You can see the Spider-Man uh comparisons with Mark. Like, that's the two differences between the adaptations. Um, one is hey, I don't like this genre, so I'm gonna show you guys what would happen in real life if we had these people running around, versus, hey, this is a more realistic version of it. Is is heroes were running around, it'd be darker, like it'd be blood and guts gore. It wouldn't be hey, uh, you can take a punch in the face, and everybody just gets up and we fight. Yeah, yeah. So that that's the difference between the two things. So with the boys' finale, for me, what they did well was what did they do well? No, what they did well was um I did like the deep the actor. I think it's I think it's really hard to play stupid. You gotta have a face for it. To be a dumb character is a very hard thing from an acting standpoint because a lot of people don't do it well. Like to play a stupid guy, it's always very jarring, like, hey, that guy is just playing a stupid character. I really felt like the deepest dumb. That's good acting. Yes, fire acting. Um, the sister Sage character, if she was in the comics, let me ask you a question by the way. Uh the actress, you you would you would hit that?
SPEAKER_00No. Why not? I'm not attracted to her. Okay. I've seen people say, like, oh, she's fire. I'm just like, I disagree. I just know. It's not her personally. I think she'd probably be a great person. But very PR answer. All right. Oh, also Chance Crawford, that's the name of the guy who played deep. I just want to give him this.
SPEAKER_01You're good at this. I'm listening. I'm good at this. Taking a lot of weight off my shoulder. That's my job. I was not gonna look up these people. I got you. But I need them in my movies or something. I got you. Chance Crawford. Yeah, shout out Chance Crawford. Yeah, so the deep, the acting was good. Um you see, where the comic made these scenes make more sense, which is in the comics, I probably said this before, the whole, the boys, all of them are on temp V. So they're all superheroes, right? They're all superpowered. And in that show, I mean, in the in the comic, the baseline for temp V is the only way, the only way you get these weird superpowers is by like a mutation. Most mostly what the Temp V does for it does the same thing across the board for most people. You become kind of like bulletproof, you got super strength, super speed. Most people can't fly. Like, flying is a very, you know. That's like in your genetics, yeah. Like, like Homelander is such an outlier because he's like overly superpowered with his thing. And again, they're using temp V. He has the like V is just in him. Most superheroes have that as well, but that's the more risky version of it. Like Starlight, she doesn't have temp V, and she's not really on the team in the show, right? I mean in the book, in the comic. So oh, people die from the real V. Yeah, exactly. So in the comic, the big twist is, and it's no spoilers now, because if you're gonna read it, dude, it's too late, like Drake said. Um, the whole flip was Homelander wasn't that evil, he was an asshole, but this all the evil shit that he did, like the the graping of uh the butcher's wife. All right, well, sorry to interrupt you.
SPEAKER_00So he in fact did rape her in the show. It's implied in the show, but it's never like confirmed.
SPEAKER_01Her she basically said he she was scared, and he took advantage of that. And again, in the in the show, remember, Homelander is not a very sexual guy.
SPEAKER_00That's what I that's the thing I'm saying. He's not this he don't like Butcher, though. This was not about the girl. So he smashed Butcher's wife to get at Butcher. But that was but did he even have a situation with Butcher before that?
SPEAKER_01But they always kind of had a thing. Because remember Butcher before that. Yeah, because yeah, they always kind of had a thing. You know, they the Butcher Homelander thing, even in the end, I don't know if the writers like oh, this could be my headcanon, but he was almost excited for the showdown. Homelander, before he got his powers taken away. He kind of, and he even said it when he was kind of begging for his life. Like, I could have killed you so many times. Is it kind of it was kind of like a kid, like, we have this banter. This is our thing, this is our shtick. We for playing it, yeah. But he butcher's dead ass. Like, so it was kind of sad. Like, and again, I I want to give credit to the writers because I think writers do deserve credit. Um, but I don't know if they meant this, but that's how I interpreted it's like he almost was stomping his feet saying, 'This is not fair.' Like, like, dog, we're not supposed to die. I'm not supposed to die, you're not supposed to die because I could have killed you. Like, right, this is supposed to be I get away, Batman, and then we do this again in another city. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_00That's the mentality of a bully, though.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I was having fun. Yeah, I wasn't exactly. Yeah, so I think that was good writing if that was their intent. Right. In the comic, though, like I was saying, Homeland is an asshole, but he's not a maniac, he's not a psychopath, he's not a this this whole God thing. What I think they messed up at, where to me, um, Daredevil did a better job, but they also had a similar problem. It was too the show, it was never about politics, it was more of a social commentary. Yeah, they leaned too much into politics, and the problem when you lean too much into politics is there's people on both sides of the aisle. So Like social commentary, we're all experiencing the gas prices. We're all experiencing um immigration and AI and stuff like that. But when you make it political, you're gonna half of your fan base is gonna just want to turn off. Like, no, you're offending me. Exactly. Because if you are following Homelander, exactly, you're following Trump. And if you're following Trump, you think Trump can laser beam people in the streets and you're just gonna cheer for him. Like, hey, that guy's supposed to be me. I don't want to watch this shit anymore. So you're but when it's talking about society, it's like, oh damn, we all can relate to this. Damn, like, you know, the people, the vault, Disney, they're assholes. They're all rich assholes that are pumping our kids with these make-believe characters who are really assholes in real life. That's more relatable than hey, the guy I voted for because I believe in these set values is trying to take over the world, kill us all. Like, just don't the the politics thing, only a few shows do the politics thing cool. House of Cards did it really well. But that's like that's what the show is about.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was the other one on with Olivia Pope. Um yeah, but those are about that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because we uh we accept that, and again, they do a better job at saying it's not Democratic Republicans, we're just they're all just shitty, as opposed to hey, the Starlighters are obviously uh the left, and hey, look at Starlighter, she's great. You know, it's like where where's her shitty thing? Like, you know, like the the the comic does a better job also as Butcher. Let me ask you, as just a show-only guy, did you ever feel like Butcher was a bad person?
SPEAKER_00Did I ever feel like that? Yeah, a show.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, just a show.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay, when did that occur for you? If you can kind of pinpoint like what season, what moment, what scene later, earlier?
SPEAKER_00Well, in the recent episodes when he was trying to get um Ryan to go and cool.
SPEAKER_01Like in the comic, though, you know from the dribble that the butcher is evil.
SPEAKER_00He has a dark side.
SPEAKER_01He's no, not even that. It's not subtle. It's like this guy, because Huey, you go, you watch the you read the the comic through Huey. Huey's the character, I mean the the the reader lens. Right. You realize that I'm choosing the lesser of two evils here. And remember, if you think about it, Huey when even when they killed um Translucent, he was kind of like uh we gotta kill him. Like that was his energy, yeah, and it's the same way in the comic. It's like Huey is the reluctant. I don't know if we gotta kill Soupes. Like, we just gotta get I my beef is with A-Train. And but the butcher's thing was, and it's stressed way more in the comic, so that's why for me it was easier to um digest. But his whole thing from the moment you meet him is all these niggas is evil. Yeah, it's not just Homeland. Nobody should have nobody should superheroes. Suck. Like, they all should die. So once I seen him grab the um the crowbar, that scene plays out very similarly in the in the comic, but it's not Homelander he does that to. He does it to Noor, who is in the comic, he's the one that all is the one doing all the evil shit. Yeah, Homelander's not even aware. He doesn't know why Butcher is so pissed off at him. Uh huh. He's like, what is this dude's problem? And then we see like they're about to have their fight, and then we see Noor finally unmask himself, and it's just just it's just it's just Homelander. Looks exactly the same, but he has like this maniacal smile on his face, and they both kind of freaked out, like, what is going on here? Yeah, then home the the um Noor kills Homelander, like literally like rips him in half, and then Butcher beats Noor and like pries his brain open. And then how the book ends or the comic ends is pretty much the same way Huey has to kill Butcher because he's just like he basically they they have like a conversation on top of the I think it's either the Empire State Building or one of the tall buildings in in New York, and he looks at Huey, he's just like Huey, I'm bad, I'm evil. So if you don't stop me, I'm just gonna keep killing. He's like, Yo, soups, they gotta go. And is he wrong though? Because there's gonna be another homelander. That's the only way they can continue to show if they want to milk it, is just prove that the butch butcher was correct, and then have his philosophy against Huey because they ended it really open, which was she's pregnant, which could be another generation of soups, and then because remember, Ryan is the only, and this I also didn't like the fact that Ryan lost his powers. They could have made it so Ryan didn't lose his powers because he's the only natural-born soup in that universe, right? He's the only one that was born that way. The rest of them are juiced from children, children.
SPEAKER_00He's like a miracle child, yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_01So he probably shouldn't have lost his powers, and that could have been another like way for them to continue the story because they could have brought back the people from Gen V because they canceled the show, but they could still use the characters because though they built up uh Marie's character. Is Marie's the actor or is it Marie's the character?
SPEAKER_00Marie Marie Moreau.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's the that's the character.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm gonna get it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so they built up Marie's character to be like almost like, oh, she's her power is as strong as Homelanders, for it to mean absolutely nothing. So that was bad. But um I I didn't hate it. If I had to rank it with our scale, I would say it's a 17. A 17? Yeah. I did not hate the finale, I'm telling you. I saw a lot of people hating on it, and I think a lot of the hate is justified, but I did not hate it.
SPEAKER_00This is what this is the episode.
SPEAKER_01Can you I'm gonna ask you a question? Rank these three in order. You don't have to give me the number, but one, two, and three.
SPEAKER_02Game of Thrones finale, the boys finale. Did you watch Stranger Things finale? Give me another one. Because the finale thing is just those are my three.
SPEAKER_01I'm sorry, yeah. It's because those three are like generational, like people were waiting for these finales, and everybody feels like they sucked. And I wanted you to rank them. I'm gonna rank them after you uh rank them. Um you just give me the two.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna put Strange Three at three because I haven't seen it. Yeah. Um, but I would go with Game of Thrones at one and boys at one.
SPEAKER_01So you prefer the Game of Thrones ending than the boys ending? Yeah. Okay. I'm gonna rank them the the opposite. I'm gonna put the boys, um, Game of Thrones, and Strange Things at the bottom.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Also, sorry. Jazz Sinclair, that's the name of the actress who played um Marie Monroe. Shout out to her. I love her anyway.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I was gonna ask if you would, but you already answered. No, I love her. Yeah, I mean, good taste, good taste. No, I I love her. But anyway. So if I if I, you know, my first movie that should be your love interest.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna play it, yeah, absolutely that, but I'm gonna play it like I'm gonna be calm, but when the shooting is over, then you're gonna really shoot. No, I'm gonna shoot during the shooting. Okay. Shoot. That's what I'm really gonna play now.
SPEAKER_01I'll write it into the script. I'll write it into the script. Alright. So yeah, I would say uh uh a 17. A 17 for the episode for the series. I'm gonna put my Rose Title nostalgia glasses on. 23. 23. 23. Okay, alright. So we're not that far off then. No, it's not as bad as people said it was, and it's it just wasn't good. It just wasn't good. I thought that it could have been waiting for a series for now. But that's a common theme now.
SPEAKER_00People are having trouble landing the plane because they're dragging it out in that place that there's a phase where this is peak. They go like this, and then they start slowly going. You're like, this shit is not as like there were there was a time where I was excited for episodes of the boys. Yeah, no, it was it was nuts during this this last season.
SPEAKER_01I wasn't we both spoke about how we had to struggle to get through some of the episodes. Yeah, there was episodes I'm like, this is whack.
SPEAKER_00Like watching, but you know, it is what it is. Great show overall, great, great concept. I I like that he wrote based off of his uh his disdain for superhero culture, and I think that it it brought something that's pretty interesting to think about. You know, if if um superheroes were real, they wouldn't all be heroes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think the premise is amazing. I just think the guy that wrote it is an asshole. And a racist, and a bigot. He might be Butcher. But no, yeah, he might I think Butcher was him. Like he wrote that was me. I'm Butcher. Butcher and um Homelander. Two sides of the same coin. Exactly. Yeah, definitely dope. But uh the guy that the showrunner, he I think he did is the one that deserves the actual praise, though. Different person. For the first half, yeah. Yeah, because the show is way. I'm telling you, bro, don't take my word for it. Read it. All right, and it's gonna you you struggle to get through some of the episodes, you're gonna struggle to get through that. And that stuff is like you're creating the the characters for yourself, and it's bad. It's bad, it's horrible. So the the dope thing though I would say is that um it's just cool watching them all have powers. I wish they would have done that in the show. Like MM, his he has a tragic backstory. You see, I remember that, yeah. Kimiko in the comic is she don't even have a name. I think her name is the the mutant or something. Like she don't have a name. No talking thing is real because she doesn't ex. She yeah, that's what it's based on though. Because she's Asian and yeah, and she had the same power. They're the kind of like you can she could heal. Kamiko was what was the name of the character?
SPEAKER_00Urikel, I think her name was.
SPEAKER_01Um yeah, yeah. So he yeah. Um, yeah, and yeah, it's it's just it's just bad.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But you get slogged, right? Oh, one last thing. One good thing I did like about that episode was Kimiko not talking that much. Yeah. It brought, I don't know, it just brought something back to the show. Like brought the soldier back, brought that feeling back. Yeah, yeah. She was acting like through her acting, and I thought that was amazing. I thought her voice is bad.
SPEAKER_01No, I think she spoke. I think she spoke too. She spoke a little bit, but I'm saying that I think she that the actor spoke to the the the studio. I was like, nah, I need some, I need I need some words.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, yeah, I believe. But they gave her horrible words. Yeah, yeah. Literally unfigurative. It was like you're not adding to the anyway. But yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, shout out the boys. I think it deserves a round of applause, man.
SPEAKER_00All right. Shout out Alonzo Laz, too.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, that's that's that's that dude. That's that dude. A lot of shame in that sh in that movie. Yeah, he took he took a lot of beatings. A lot of just he took he took a lot of beatings. All right, uh, before we move off from the boys, the boys universe is continuing, and we have Vault Rising. Did you peep the trailer? A little bit. So what I expect from it, I don't have a book or anything to lean back on. I think that this is gonna be a cross between black exploitation and some kind of the good old boys because I think America is going through a crisis that you're probably not gonna like the way I'm going with this though. You shouldn't agree so fast. I think America is going through a crisis where young white men don't have an outlet. They have to they have to piggyback on like they're all either wiggers or ardent. What's the name? Chud the builders. Chud the builders.
SPEAKER_00So I think it's gonna be a lot of Chud the Building going on. But this is the I well, this is one of my things. No, please that when it comes to that whole Chud the Builder sect of white young men, y'all gotta if you wanna be that kind of person, that's your decision. Yeah, there will be repercussions for one, but also you gotta understand at least be wise about what you're so ardently angry and racist about. And this is aside from TV, real quick. It's just like you're if you're still mad at black people for whatever reason, you're an idiot. You have other threats around you and you're focused on the same group who again what history has told us, what we've been taught, that were brought here against their will. You can be Chuther Builder, you can be, you know, comic book homelander if you want to, but at least direct that in the right direction. I don't advise you to be this kind of person. But if you want to just be these guys from the past and just be racist, it's just stupid. Doesn't make any sense.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. You're wasting energy. Totally agree, but I think this show's gonna lean into that. Because uh, number one is they they they have to.
SPEAKER_00And there's a group of people who want that. They want to like that. Yeah, they want to see Homelander win. Go on any Instagram comment section. That's yeah.
SPEAKER_01This wouldn't have happened. Homelander would have killed all those niggas. Exactly. That's what they're looking for. Yeah, so I think Vault Rising is gonna be because we already got Stormfront. She was straight up a Nazi, straight up. I thought that was and she's gonna be there. Yeah, um, I think she's gonna beef with the girl, the the white lady that they keep showing. Um, I think there's gonna be some weird love triangle between um home uh Homelandish Pop's uh Soldier Boy, uh Stormfront and that new white girl that they they showing. And then the one black character that we keep seeing, he looked like he got the he got V against his will and he's evil. So at least the first season, the the evil person is gonna be a amped up black guy. So just like how we have the magical Negro, there's also the dumb brute Negro. Oh, yeah, yeah. And I think I think that's gonna be the first season's bad guy. But if they're smart though, which I don't know if they are, he's actually the hero.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that'd be that'd be a dope twist. Are they gonna do it?
SPEAKER_00I don't think they can. They're gonna pull that rug under from under the Chud to Builder crews.
SPEAKER_01They have to. They have to they have to find a way. But I think the first season is gonna be building up the Chuds. I think it's gonna be Soldier Boy calling, they're gonna start making up um racial slayers that we never even heard about. Yeah. Because that was Soldier Boy's whole thing. So he now he's gonna be in his element. He's gonna he's gonna be in his moon is his thing. I do know his name too.
SPEAKER_00Actor who plays. Jason Eccles one like that? Yeah, please hold him off. Soldier Boy. But he yo, he did a yo, he's just hilarious.
SPEAKER_01No, he's good. He's very comedic. Yeah. And like physical comedy too. Like he he's good. But you know, he's been on TV for what 20 years? Yeah. So he's Jensen Eckles. Jensen, yeah. So yeah, I think that's what it's gonna be. That's what we can look forward to. Um you gonna watch it? Uh I might I'm gonna check it out.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna give it a go. Yeah, I'll give it a go. See what happens. Alright. Um, this is another reason why I put Game of Thrones above, though, is because they left a lot of loose ends just open with that show. And I think that's a terrible finale. You have to close loose ends, or you just leave people thinking like, well, alright, for instance, with um there was one particular um storyline I was looking into.
SPEAKER_01I'll come back to it. I don't want to say that. Yeah, no problem. Uh I think what they're gonna do is they're gonna make um Soldier Boy, they're gonna start off Vault Rising with Soldier Boy getting out of the like maybe Stan Edgar like wakes him up out of the thing, and then he's just like reminiscent about his life. And then we're just watching Vault Rising through his recollection.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01And then if they decide to make Vault Rising a a long-standing thing, that's gonna always be our tether back to the boy universe. Because they're gonna have to keep as many of the fans of the boys original to transfer over to Vault Rising. We'll see how it goes. Because there's nothing to ground them anymore. There's no more book, even though they weren't following the book at all. Well, very loosely, there's nothing. This is them making this shit up. And I do have faith in them because the boys, the first four or three seasons were elite. They were really good, and then they just I think they lean too much into politics, bro. I think that's what killed them. Like, we got all right, Donald Trump bad. We got it. Like, we don't need four uh three seasons of that. Like, yeah, find another thing. And then, like you said, we we both kind of would have preferred a deep powered homelander having to wander. Like, let him be let him be immortal, but he just has no powers. Everyone knows who you are, yeah. Like shame, that's a weight. Shame is a very powerful thing, exactly. And he can't kill himself, he can't die, and he just wanders the world. Like, yo, weren't you that asshole that wanted to kill everybody and you thought you were God? Isn't that you? Yeah, but what are you what are you talking about? Is that breast milk? Like that would have been such a dope thing to have this guy wandering 100%.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like they could have he butcher could have been ready to kill him, and one of some when somebody could have stepped in, like, no, don't kill him.
SPEAKER_01That's my dad!
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but Ryan would be like, No, and then you're better than this butcher. Him living like this is worse than you killing. Yeah, and then you know, Homelander runs off, and then the cutscene at the end, you know, they go to they show the and it's him in some depraved situation, you know, like he might actually be performing that act for a breast milk. Oh, yeah, performing fillation. And then he's like, Yeah, this is this is his life. Yeah, that's way worse than death to me. Yeah, no, there are certain things worse than death.
SPEAKER_01But because it don't stop. They dropped the ball, in my opinion. Yeah, no, I I totally agree with you, man. 13. All right, um, where do we go from here? Uh, I think we should um get into there's there's a lot of controversial things going on in the world.
SPEAKER_00Oh, to Michael B. Jordan.
SPEAKER_01You want to go there or you want to go to um Michael B first. Okay, so Michael B. Jordan, he has a new show debuting. Because you know, um, I think uh TV, I'm never gonna put TV over film, obviously. But TV is starting to get itself in the hey, you kind of need like to to be super relevant, you kind of need TV a little bit. We haven't seen the super duper well, Michael joined super duper star, yes or no?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, right now.
SPEAKER_01No, so is he the first super duper star that is going backwards, you would say? Like going back to TV?
SPEAKER_00Because it's not a it's not a movie, he's he's making a show, he's doing a spin-off of The Creed. I think that's more about money than anything else. I think that um Yeah, we noticed that. I think that's a step back. Super duper star. I'm talking about he's A-list. But I think that's also kind of proves that if there was another in another time, you took him from let's say we took Michael B. Jordan and put him in the 90s, he would now be a super duper star. Is what I'm saying. I stand on it? Yeah, I stand on it. Because he'd be going against me to name a few names who are super duper stars. He'd be going against Eddie Murphy, he'd be going against um well we'll go 80s slash 90s. Going against Will Smith, he'd be going against uh Prime Denzel, he'd be going against um Sylvester Stallone, he'd be going against Arnold Schwarzenegger, he'd be going against um all these guys. John Cloud Van Dam, like he he's not hanging with these guys.
SPEAKER_01He's a better he's a better actor than Arnold though.
unknownSure.
SPEAKER_01That's it, that's the only one. Sure. Out of all those movies, no, he's only a better actor than Arnold.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, sure, but he um he's not gonna be able to talk with that accent.
SPEAKER_01And he's not gonna be able to sell more movies than Arnold.
SPEAKER_00No. Arnold phenomenon. It's almost like you know, you have these moments in sports where it's like there's a lull, there's no real superstar, and there's this one guy who's really good, very good, exceptional even. And it's like that's the superstar for now. It's like Chauncey Bills on the piston. Exactly. I'm gonna go with that. Yeah, exactly. Michael B.
SPEAKER_01Jordan is Chauncey Billows.
SPEAKER_00Nah, I'm gonna give him a step up. He's more like Amari Sodomar on the next. Okay. As soon as that Carmelo shows up, it's like, yo, pass the ball.
SPEAKER_01We know who Carmelo is.
SPEAKER_00Who's Carmelo?
SPEAKER_01We know who Carmelo is.
SPEAKER_02Who? He got kicked out of Hollywood for that white girl. Oh, Mr. Majors.
SPEAKER_01Wait, I'm telling you, Jonathan Majors, if he got his fair shake, he would be the number one guy.
SPEAKER_00I'm telling you. I agree with you. His his chops is yo. Nah, this dude is is a monster. We're gonna have to have an episode when we talk about Lovecraft comedy too. I I we could we could do a rewatch.
SPEAKER_01We can come in here and talk about episodes. We could do a rewatch. Matter of fact. I need a reason to rewatch that. Journey Smollett is in there. I need a reason. She's alright. I have my taste. You have yours? Absolutely. Yeah, I'll just do that. Give me Jazz and Clear, baby. Give me Journey. Got it. Alright. Uh, yeah, so Michael B. Jordan. He's he's doing the Creed spinoff TV show. Um, are you big on the Creed thing? Um I wasn't even I don't even like Rocky like that. I love Rocky. I'm gonna tell you why I don't like Rocky real fast. Go ahead. Rocky Balboa is a fictional guy. He's based on a real person. Rocky, uh Rocky Marciano. That's who he's based on. That's a real boxer. Balboa is the fake one, Marciano's a real one. Okay. Rocky Balboa, the fake one, has a statue in Philadelphia. Because Philly's a corny son. But like corny black boxer. Like, I think it's I think it's what's Joe Fraser? I think he's from Philly. Yo, he don't got a statue there. But fucking Rocky Balboa, who's not a real person. That's my beef at Rocky. I'm not a big Rocky guy. Oh, that's why. Okay. Sorry. You know, gotta put my Koofy on. I love Rocky. Not a big Rocky guy. How do you feel about Creed then? This is where you're gonna.
SPEAKER_00You're talking about Creed, baby Creed or a real Creed? The baby Creed, the one that's selling the tickets. I think it's corny without Rocky. That's the tether. He's not in them? He wasn't in the third one. Oh, okay. I don't know if he's gonna be in the show. I doubt it. Hell no. They had a falling out because Sylvester Stallone and um the Creed franchise. Because they used him to create the Creed franchise and then got rid of him by the third movie, which I thought was whack. I was like, I get it. I'm with them. You're with it? Yeah, you know I'm not he's white. I'm not this happens to us all the time. Uh it does, but I'm not going for it. Like I'm not going for it, this case. Like Rocky's why you're here. Yeah, or well. Yeah, get him out of here. It's Creed now. At least let him die like on some um Mickey type joint. Nah, they should make him a magical white. That's what he was.
SPEAKER_01Oh, for real.
SPEAKER_00That's what he was. He was guiding Creed's son. Because, and I'm gonna have to give it one of my picks.
SPEAKER_01Don't do it, don't do it, don't do it. I don't want I don't want no excuses for you. I'm not going to, it's not on my list. I have a list. Alright, cool. And I have a counter list. So if you take one of mine, a counter list? I do too. I got some we should go to right after this.
SPEAKER_00Matter of fact, because you know what? Um, when it comes to this show, I'm gonna check it out. I don't think it's gonna be good without um still having at least a Sylvester Stallone pop up or even show Adrian, someone from the past.
SPEAKER_01I ain't gonna lie to you. If you have the time, look it up. It's pretty much the the guys from the wire. He just got everybody from the wire. Oh, yeah? Yeah. Oh, that's not a problem. Come on, man. Nah, but the con Oh, we're not even touching the controversy. The controversy is number one, I didn't notice about Michael B. Jordan, but his name out here in the black streets is Mud amongst the sisters. Mud. They say that he don't like the sisters. They say that he has a taste for the milk. And then as soon as they saw the release of this cast, they didn't see any sisters on there. Then they went out to say that the leading woman that he had in his Creed movies as his love interest was a halfling. Oh, here we go. So the halfling. Yeah, the sisters. You know the sisters determine who is who's black or not. They have that power. No, they don't. They have that power. No, they don't. If your father's black, you black. If your father's black. That's not how the sisters had it.
SPEAKER_00Sisters, if your father's black, you're black.
SPEAKER_01The sisters say, if I say you black, you black.
SPEAKER_00That's they say if your mama black. Women could talk all they want. They said if your mama black. If your father's black, you're black.
SPEAKER_01They say that only black women hold the culture. I'm just repeating what they're saying. Culture of depravity. I'm not, hey, that's look into the mic when you say that. I mean the camera.
SPEAKER_00A culture of depravity. Low level, low-level living. At least married. But come on, man. I'm done with it. I don't want to hear this. Yeah, he's gonna curl. I don't want to hear this. How do you choose who's black? You don't. Because they come out of a black coochie. They I love y'all. I love y'all, but no. Just no. And I'm saying no because I love you. If I didn't love you, I'd lie to you and shit. Do what you want. But anyway, there's a lot of niggas doing that. That's the it's a lot of, there's too many niggas doing that. Exactly. They're messing in the they're the reason why we're in this problem.
SPEAKER_01But can two things be right? I mean, two things be wrong. Yeah. Is Michael B. Jordan wrong for not casting any black women?
SPEAKER_00I think he should definitely be highlighting black women.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, if since he has the opportunity. Yeah. But I'm not gonna sit here and like down, like down him for not doing it. You gotta understand, and this is important, is that there are people above him who have the power to say, you know what, if you don't do this, we're not greenlighting this show. That's true. This is our requirements. And you know, in order to be at these levels in anything, whether it's corporate, whether it's film, if certain people up top who are funding you, who pay you, are like, I'm not doing this unless you do what I want. That's just what it is. So it might not be Michael B. Jordan per se.
SPEAKER_01We give a lot of flack, um, rightfully so though, to the super rich, the uber rich, the black. But hold on, what do you think about that though? What? About I want you to answer those same questions. You know what's so dope about you as a podcaster? Why? What? I I podcast a lot. Uh this is my second podcast of the day. And niggas a hustler. And niggas don't ever ask me what I think. I want to know. Like ever. Thank you for that.
SPEAKER_00You look into the camera. What do you say which you want? What question? Can two things be wrong? Is he wrong for what for not having more black women? And are black women wrong for trying to drive?
SPEAKER_01I don't think Michael B. Jordan is wrong at all. Why is this? Because I'm tired of the gender politics. Hallelujah. Let let him let the show start first. How do you know that all these characters ain't crackheads? How do you know all these characters ain't prostitutes? You don't know what Creed spinoff is about. Exactly. How do you know you want a black woman in any of these roles yet? Let the show breathe first. The inclusion of y'all got black girl magic. Where's black boy rock or something? I don't know. Like, we don't even call it black boy joy. No, get the fuck out of here. You ever seen a joyous black boy? We don't even get a chance to be joyous. As soon as you start smiling, as soon as you figure out that you're a black boy, the joy is gone. So let us come just let the shit breathe first. And y'all gotta understand something, right?
SPEAKER_02You only black if your daddy black.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_01That's it. And that's not even my opinion.
SPEAKER_00That's a science.
SPEAKER_01That's a scientific fact, and that's a cultural fact. Because the last time I checked, you can't pass down anything through your mother's name.
SPEAKER_02You're talking about legally legally.
SPEAKER_01That shit don't work. Now there is a loophole where a lot of rich people put things in their mom's names to avoid the IRS and things like that. That's cool because we're in the modern era. When the modern errors change, one thing remains the same. Danielson, Michaelson, Tom's son. You never hear Rebecca's son. That's all I'm saying. Alright. Any other questions for me? Um I don't recall.
SPEAKER_00But I will answer if you remember. I want you to answer why. And I know you said it's because you know he's white and they've been doing it to us forever, but why do you think that they need to separate from Sylvester Stallone? Oh, he's probably causing a problem somewhere.
SPEAKER_01No, I'm deadass. I think I think I think some. You know why that's funny?
SPEAKER_00Because that's what someone else would say in the opposite situation. I I'm pretty sure he's causing a problem.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think he's causing an issue.
SPEAKER_00The majors? Nah, he's causing a problem.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think he's causing an issue somewhere. He wrote, he created Rocky, right? That's his bag. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Why how is it is his paper together? Like, how did he allow that to happen? I think he wanted he probably wanted creative control. They're like, nah, we're gonna move away from that. Yeah, no, that's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_01So but like in go ahead, go. Like on a like a contractual level, why does he not can't he put the cabal? Oh, they changed the name. Exactly.
SPEAKER_00It's not Rocky. He probably signed something somewhere with your contract, nigga. And they're like, it's probably for a two-movie contract. And they're like, You're doing a third one? Okay, so uh nah, we don't want you in it. That's probably what they did. And this how I this is you know obviously alleged, but this is how I know, and going back to the topic of the Creed series, there's people above Michael B. Jordan. The reason why I can say it is because Sylvester Stallone came out because he gave out his um, he he uh expressed that he was upset about the whole situation. Okay, and he made it abundantly clear, I'm not mad at Michael B. Jordan at all. It's not him. That goes to show you that there's stuff above the the face, the actor. And if you're wise and you have like a business or whatever, you always have someone who's the front man who like this is gonna be taking the blame, but I'm the one making the decisions. And that's all actors are a lot of times. They're like, oh, Michael B. Jordan directed Creed III, right? He did. Yeah. But you think he had full control of that film? No. It's too much money. Because I don't think he would even I don't think he would have um even uh casted Mike um Jonathan Majors. He probably would have picked uh another actor who's either someone he's cool with or someone who might not outshine him on the screen as much.
SPEAKER_01I didn't watch it.
SPEAKER_00You never saw Creed III? No, but I seen clips.
SPEAKER_01And every clip I see, it's Mike's major show. Texas scene every time. Yeah, it's just and he's just more physically imposing.
SPEAKER_00A hundred percent. Even at first, I was like, he'd be barking. And I was like, that's low-key kind of tough. But yeah, you know, um, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I again, shout out uh Sylvester Stallone. Sometimes gotta pay the piper. He's a white guy that took the L. I'm sorry, we've been taking L's. You gotta take it. But I don't think Sylvester. Well you see, I'm not a Rocky guy, so I can't really speak on this. Uh somebody that loves Rocky, this probably hurts. That Jordan inspired me as a young kid.
SPEAKER_00So the so the Creed movies, though, they don't um no, they do. I'm I'm I listen, I I really I won't say I'm a fan, but I've enjoyed Michael B. Jordan's journey from some little kid on a soap opera and on um the wire all the way to what he's evolved into. Physically growing, um you know, the way he's presented himself as a black man. I thought he's done a phenomenal job. But the film uh and I did like you know what? I did like seeing that Apollo Creed's son became the focal point of the series of the you know the trilogy or whatnot. Um but the Rocky story had another edge to the inspiration behind it. Maybe it's the nostalgia being young, maybe it's the music, maybe it's the style, maybe it was because he wasn't uh so overly infatuated with his love interests, which also There was a love interest in Rocky? Yeah, I didn't even know that.
SPEAKER_01Adrian. I thought that was a dude that he was talking about. Yeah, wow. No, I never watched the movies. You never Nah.
SPEAKER_00I just know the cultural significance. We gotta rewatch it. That's fine. It's gonna be a tough watch because I know you're more up to date, but the Rocky, when it came out, was so that's that masculine type of film that used to come out. This is about a man, yeah. He loves this woman, she's extremely feminine, she supports him. She cried when he's like, I don't want you to fight anymore. It was real. Okay. Now we got uh baby Creed now, and he has his girl and he's just like yo, so all about she's screaming at him and something like that. This does seem real today, but at the same time, it's like it doesn't. Did he have to chase her? Um Adrian? No, or um Robert. Creed? They they kind of got together off of it was a mutual thing? It was like she was playing music upstairs in his apart above his apartment, and he was like knocking, like, yo, you gotta turn that down. She's kind of deaf. Or she was getting she was losing her hearing.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_00But um slowly, so that's why that's how he met her. And then when he knocked on her door, he's expecting to see somebody else, and he was a woman that he was like totally there, like, oh she's so beautiful. Okay, okay. And then he got lunch with her and it went from there. But it was just some moments where I'm like, I'm like, how is she talking to him like this? It's kind of like that that whole thing with Debbie. I'm like, some of the stuff just I'm like I see what y'all are doing, what you're trying to, the message you're trying to send, but it's like if you're if you're a person, right, this person you're dealing with is in a high stress career, he's a fighter. Can die anytime. He can die, he can lose his brain can be messed. He cannot afford to have anyone in his life making creating chaos. Oh, this is like the smashing machine shit. Exactly. Like I still have to watch that. I I look at people like when you know that your uh your uh significant other has a stressful career and you add stress, I automatically choose you're kind of wicked for that. Well, that's kind of evil. You know this person's already going through, and they're when they come to you, you create more chaos. Yeah, that's that's wicked. I've experienced that. It's wickedness to me. That's nuts. So anyway, sorry, that was my little maybe women can't help it. How do you feel about that actually? What? Like if you I'm not- I didn't say women, I said your significant other. If they have a high stress career or just a life in general, and you add or introduce chaos to it, do you automatically think that person has a little level of wickedness to when they know for a fact?
SPEAKER_01I give women a lot of leeway. I said people. I said significantly I don't I can't say men, there's men who are like that too. Oh, though those niggas is is weird. Sassy. I think those niggas is weird. So when women I give a lot of leeway because I genuinely think they can't help themselves sometimes. And I think that's what you as a man need to correct. Simmer down. Cut it out. Yeah. But you see, most women are not used to dealing with men that appropriately. They're not used to dealing with men. Well, they each other, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's it. Yeah. Yeah? Yeah.
unknownSorry.
SPEAKER_01I think it's that. I think a lot of this stuff goes back to the same stuff. It's it's a lot of like absent dads, and absent doesn't mean missing. It's not. It just means like not involved. Because he's trying to figure it out. Like he's trying to make sort of roofers over the head. So he don't not to make excuses for the men, but it all starts with the men. I always blame men. That's my initial thing. Because if niggas tighten up, everything falls into order.
SPEAKER_00And you know what's interesting is that in Creed, like, that was his issue. His father was there. Yeah, his dad wasn't there. Actually, he was a he was an illegitimate child. Really? Yeah. Um He was a side baby. He was a side baby. How he got the name Creed though? Um he he found out. So actually So his name was Johnson whole movie. Huh? I can't remember. I gotta remember. I haven't watched the first one in a long time. I gotta remember how, but when they everyone found out that that was his son. Who wrote that? I think it's I don't know. See, now I'm gonna look at that nigga sideways again. Oh, so that's a story.
SPEAKER_01Okay, why what he know about that?
SPEAKER_00Nah, you see, I don't like it. Well, he knew Apollo Creed, so he knew Apollo. He knew Apollo was wild. I don't like but uh it was Apollo Creed's widow um who like found him, took him in and was mothering him. She was in his corner, like when he was fighting and like, you know.
SPEAKER_01He had his mom in his corner? His his mom was his cut man?
SPEAKER_00No, no, not in the corner. Like she was like always he that's how you know he was broke. His mom's his cutman.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. But uh I I okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna check out Creed. I think you you sold me on Creed.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna check out check it out. It's but you I think if you watch it in tandem with Rocky, you you'll see the Rocky first?
SPEAKER_01Is there like a watch order? Like, am I jumping generation? No, you could watch um. How many Rocky movies are?
SPEAKER_00Isn't that like four of them? Five or six, but you only need to watch one, two, and three.
SPEAKER_01Like, I culturally know Rocky, though. I know if he dies, he dies. Yeah, you know Drago. Yeah, you might need to watch five. I know all the Rocky, like the hits. Like, I didn't know Adrian was a woman, though. I thought Adrian was like his brother or something.
SPEAKER_00Nah, you gotta watch it. That's really not it's not acceptable that you walk around not knowing that, to be honest. Come on. But I I'm glad I could be the one to help. Fair enough. Fair enough. And we have, you know, recorded evidence. Okay. I saved you from that. Did you watch The Sopranos? Not all of it. I did not. I didn't watch all of it. So I didn't watch Sopranos. But I I will never go into a room where someone's like, oh, Soprano. I'll tell them straight up. I didn't watch it like that. So I'm gonna try it. Michael B. Jordan's in there apparently. Yeah, he's in there somewhere. He was he's been around for a long time. It's not even funny. Like he's his whole life has been in front of the screen, which you know, to me, side note, I think if we ever get the opportunity to meet him, you might realize he's a little bit weird.
SPEAKER_01I knew he was weird by the fact that he's pretending to be an anime guy. Oh, he's 100% pretending. That nigga said Naruto. Yeah, when you hear that, you're like I was gotcha. Gotcha. Any nigga that pronounced it like that, I know what you are. You guys watching Naruto? Naruto? Oh. Yeah. Gotcha, nigga. You need to leave him. Yeah. I got you. Naruto, huh? Sasuke. Sasuke.
SPEAKER_00Gotcha. We got you. He said Naruto for real?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Being into anime's flat, they even got Jonathan Majors doing a um a One Piece. Remember, he was doing the the it was a magazine cover for one of those things. He had like the pink stuff. That's a character from One Piece, Don Flamingo. I don't watch One Piece, but I know that's a character from One Piece. I don't think that nigga knows Don Flamingo. I could be wrong about that.
SPEAKER_00He just liked the fit.
SPEAKER_01Apparently, though, he before the muscles and all of this, he's like a real like nerdy guy. Oh no, I've seen old pictures of him.
SPEAKER_00He was very cool. Oh, he's very unhinged again.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so he actually might be into anime, so maybe. But I haven't heard him talk about it yet. Does Don Flamingo do duck lips though?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I don't I don't watch one. He was I'm not even gonna do the face, he was doing some of the foes. I'm not judging him your choice. He got I mean, they had a talk with him. I guess you gotta sell shoes to both sides. He's about to be the biggest actor ever because the shaming rituals are ongoing. He's going through it.
SPEAKER_01Hey, uh, we need you to fall through the window. That shit was crazy. That shit was crazy. I asked you about that. We spoke about it. We did. I'm like, this is on camera. How this happened? Who recorded this? Why'd it get out? Isn't this like an insurance like situation? Like, I wouldn't want that out. All right. Um, let's keep uh I want to save the magical Negro thing to the end though. And then I have like another thing I need to add here. And you're supposed to remind me of another thing I have to add here, but you probably forgot. All right. So let's get to the other controversy, and it's also black. Is God is. I'm gonna give you a quick synopsis of what the movie is about, and then we're gonna deepen uh dive into the controversy. I believe the movie is already released. I did not watch it yet. Okay, because I'm on the fence. I don't know if I want to watch it because the movie is about these two sisters that get burned in a house fire, I believe, caused by their father on purpose. Oh, yeah, yep. And the movie is about them getting their cathartic revenge upon Daddy. Didn't their mother die in it too or something like that? I did you probably know more than I do. I just put a really quick synopsis on it. So the controversy is, and I sometimes feel like these things happen on purpose, and GR is gonna tell me that they do happen on purpose, and he's probably correct. This movie is pitting black men against black women. That's number one. Then somebody did some research on the writers and creators of this, and it's a black divester woman, I believe. It's a uh that's a black woman that has a um a white husband, I believe. I didn't know, but that's don't quote me on that, but that's what I think was revealed.
SPEAKER_00So how do we feel about this? I'm gonna tie it right back to Michael B. Jordan with this. Because the woman with a divester, the divestment. Um it's never a problem when a black woman is with a white man, which to me personally couldn't care less. When a black man's with a white woman, for some reason, we have to put string him up on a cross and crucify him, destroy him, get rid of him. Oh, you wanna be with a black woman. I'm gonna let y'all know that speaks to psychology is an insecurity thing. But when it goes pertaining to this film, Is God is first of all, just the title, Is God is you know, they're playing on word is God. Is God is I see what they're doing here, they're trying to make you question certain things. Yep. Number two, um, we should be very cognizant of the writers of our films who's telling stories. Because one thing I've always heard consistently is like, you know, especially women, they don't want men telling their stories. I don't want uh people who don't have love for who I am telling any story where I'm involved, which is a black man. Like if you don't if you don't love a black man, or if I'm a black man who doesn't love black women, I really shouldn't be speaking on that. Only because I have exemplified that I don't have love. Now to say that you now if you choose someone of a different race, it doesn't mean you don't necessarily have love for your for that, you know, for black men or black women, whatever it is. But now when I look at the film you're creating and the black man just burns his two daughters and his wife, according to what the film is, and um makes it like he's this big bad. We have to watch the film versus C because he's clearly wicked, according to the trailer.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so far I don't I don't see any room for No, I burn them because they're actually demons. That's the flip.
SPEAKER_00If that's the flip, then oh okay. Now we're talking about something. But if it's just oh we have to get after this guy because he's evil, I have to see what his motivation was. All these things have to be answered. But if it turns out that he's just this big bad guy, the black father, when we already know we have a quote unquote alleged black father issue, right, in our community, and you want to now make him a villain, then to me this is just the new age color purple, where you have this angry black dude and this band of sisters have to come together to defeat their ultimate enemy, which is the black men. More feminist propaganda to turn our community against each other. But um, I'm I probably will at some point watch it based on the reviews because there's certain things I'm just not trying to let in my spirit. And I don't like to be upset over things that I already know the answer to. You know what I'm saying? Gotcha. I'm not gonna pay for it. I'm a pirate. Allegedly. We know how to do it.
SPEAKER_01Allegedly. That's the case. Allegedly. Yeah. What are your thoughts on? Allegedly. Allegedly. Allegedly. I forgot. I almost they almost got me. Allegedly.
SPEAKER_00Right. Allegedly, Pierre said alleged.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Woo. Alleged. Alrighty. You're thank you for that. I have to edit that shit out. Allegedly. Allegedly. You were gonna ask me.
SPEAKER_00I want to know what your thoughts are on that. Um, how you feel about the whole reverse divestment? How and I in film, you see it a lot. Nah, I've I've been pointed out.
SPEAKER_01It's rever I've been pointed out. Yo, that's that's the new that's the new wave. It's dirty work. It's the new wave. Personally, I I'm a love who you love kind of guy, but um, I'm gonna take a page out of black women's book, actually. You can love your white kings without putting down the black man. White because because that's that's what they used to tell us. Love y'all white women, love y'all Mexican women, love all the women y'all want, but just don't put down black women. And you know what's funny? I've never seen a nigga that like white women put down black women. I've never seen that. So where'd they get that from?
unknownI don't know.
SPEAKER_01It's it's almost like a projection. Exactly. So it feels like, yeah. So I'm uh, hey, love who you love, you know, God made us all equal, and as long as you're faithful to the Lord, that's all that matters. Um, but yeah, it's it's a weird thing that I've seen in Hollywood have been calling it out. It doesn't bother me personally because maybe it's because we live in New York City, we see all every color gambit, every combination, it really doesn't bother me. But um, it's been a lot of white, average white guys with hyper sexual black women, like it's a thing. Like we keep seeing it over and over again. It's almost like uh in Japanese culture is small girl, big average size guy. Don't know what that's about. But yeah, I don't really have an issue with it, it's just something I'm noticing a lot. But you know, play on. This is Hollywood is your world. We need our own A24. I want I want our own Tyler Perry. Congrats. No disrespect to Tyler Perry, but you clearly have an agenda. But we we need our own A24, we need our own, hey, black, we need Fubu. We need the Fubu, and I would love to be the pioneer of that. If y'all give me some money, please, Cast and Crew, let's all pool our money together. I'll direct the first five films. This is our star. Take it or leave it. Um, yeah, we like Jordan Peel and um oh my god, I'm having a brain for it. My man that did Black Panther, the West Coast, uh, what's his name? Ryan Cooper. Ryan Cooper, thank you. They need to come together, pool the resources. I was gonna say this in another earlier topic. I'm going off on a little tangent, I'm sorry. Go for it. But we get on rappers a lot. Jay-Z, um, 50 Cent, Diddy, y'all niggas are always bragging to us about how much money I got. Why do we not have a black label that's just black? It's not a uh an offshoot of some other. I'm gonna say the same thing to the black actors, even though they make less money, you could say, because you know there's more money in music because act the actors don't get paid that much. It's really the directors, the writers, and stuff like that. The studio gets the money. But why can't uh 10 black actors pull their money and make an A24? Why can't we have a black studio that tells our stories with our riders? We hire our cameramen, our crew. It's not a racial separation thing, it's just like uh what GR is saying is like our stories can never fully be look how dope the Black Panther movie. Was Wakanda. Do you know how much doper it would be if they didn't have Disney tapping them on the shoulder every three days? Like, make their white savior. That CIA CIA nigga was a white savior. A thousand. So, like, send Bucky there at the end. Yeah. Like, I'm not saying that these things aren't comic accurate or whatever, but I'm just saying how much that film was already super black. Could you imagine how much deeper the themes could have been? We could have had a whole arc of Killmonger going around the world getting a Wakanda artifacts back instead of watching him run behind Ulise's claw. You know what I'm saying? Like it could have been even blacker, is what I'm saying. Imagine how black it could have been. Because I just use Black Panther. I love that movie, but I use it as an example of when we combine our efforts, how powerful the movies, the meanings are in that movie. Just the whole idea of the because we have it in our communities. Like Ryan Kugler was tapping in on the whole the continental Africans versus the African Americans here. Like there is an issue there that we can solve if we all sat down and spoke about it. And sometimes you got to see things to believe them. You know, Wakanda's a fictional place. I get that. But there could be a Wakanda if Nigeria, Ghana, and all these places got their shit together and kicked the colonial powers out. I'm going on a tangent, I'm sorry. Go for it. But I'm here for it. Yeah, that that that would be my thing. I really want us to have the Fubu thing needs to be. We made fun of Fubu when we had it. Because this is what black people do. I'd rather wear the European brand. Fubu is some broke nigga shit. That's how we looked at it. But we didn't realize that that was our greatest power. Yeah. For us by us. That needs to be the name of the studio. Let me shoot the movies. Let's write some shit. Miles Morales don't gotta be the only black superhero.
SPEAKER_00Status shock exists. That's a fact. Shout out a couple of actors who did attempt, who did attempt it. Um, but they they killed him for trying it. Um well they killed his uh reputation. Nate Parker.
SPEAKER_01Oh, my man that made um the movie with uh the Nat Turner movie. They you want to talk about character assassination. He was his he was Why'd they wait till the movie was about to come out and they just I haven't seen it, I haven't heard his name since matter of fact. They were like, They threw a rape charge on him, right?
SPEAKER_00They brought a rape charge from college college that he beat. They were like, oh yeah, back in the day, by the way, he he got uh he he raped a girl. But he beat the charges. But you know, if he beat the charges, he probably shouldn't have beat the charges. They they assassinated his character over a film he was doing about Nat Turner, which is I watched it. You watched it, yeah. Fire? Yeah, it couldn't be shown at theaters, though.
SPEAKER_01Nah, they couldn't. They put a couple watch on it. They they knew, but that's what I'm talking about, though. Yeah, that movie was black because my man was using the Bible. That was his whole thing. Was like, yo, it's in here. Yo, and we must rise up. Yup, because he was a preacher man. That was the whole thing.
SPEAKER_00Nat Turner is a legendary person that needs to be studied. They don't teach that. They don't talk about Nat Turner. They can't talk about it. He's only one person.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they cannot talk about they don't talk about slave rebellions in school, period. Yep, he's only one my man used the Bible. The movie opens, if I remember correctly, this is years ago. It might have been a decade ago. It's been a while. The movie opens, I believe, with him getting his ass whooped because they taught him how to read to preach to the other uh to the slaves.
SPEAKER_02And he was like, but Master, they don't say that. And then he was just like, I guess it does say that.
SPEAKER_01Nah, he didn't though. He was just like, okay. And he started reading on his own. And he was just like, Oh, I can I can smite these niggas. All right, we out. And then he just starts going crazy. Yeah, that is it's a really powerful film.
SPEAKER_00I just wanna I guess we're going in this episode. I love all of them. Let's go there. So that example right there you used is exactly what I'm talking about, going back to Michael B. Jordan. It's called this concept called the talented 10% of black people, right? Usually extract them. And it's actually in scripture you can find this too. They extract the talent, they extract the talented 10% and elevate them and say, listen, man, we're gonna put you above your people. You're never gonna be above us. We're gonna put you above your people. As long as you you continue to, you know, push our agenda and stay in line, you'll stay elevated above the rest. So I'm gonna give you the ability to read. I'm gonna let you read. Because that's a big deal. That's a huge deal. Because now you can navigate the world and understand. So they gave him the Bible and I want you to teach the rest of them what we tell you to teach them. If you teach anything else, we get rid of you. And Nat Turner, I mean, you know, Nate Parker, who played Nat Turner, did exactly the wrong, the opposite. He did exactly what he portrayed in that film. Yeah, nah. I'm gonna tell you that what's really going on. And they were like, oh, word?
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_00Get him out of here. That's crazy, but I really forgot about dudes. Like he don't even exist now. Exactly. I'm telling you, he was John C. Because he was an actor.
SPEAKER_01He was an actor actor.
SPEAKER_00Actor, actor. He was in The Great Debaters. He was I love that movie. He was in um, was it Red Tales?
SPEAKER_01The Tuskegee Airman movie. Yeah, he definitely was in that too. Yeah, I'm pretty sure he was in there.
SPEAKER_00Or something about the sim a similar story. He was in um the film he did with uh uh what's the girl's name? But anyway, it was called Beyond the Light.
SPEAKER_01Yo, he's gone. He's gone, he's legitimately gone. He wasn't even an old dude. He wasn't a young guy.
SPEAKER_00Like he was like my maybe my age or like a year younger. Either. You were old dude at the time. I'm not old now though, but you know what I mean. The point is that they got rid of him. They got him out the paint. He can tell you, he was Jonathan Major before Jonathan Majors.
SPEAKER_01Damn, I for I really forgot about him. Like, legitimately, you like triggered a core memory just now.
SPEAKER_00We're gonna talk about another film, probably in the future, but I want you to look this one up and I want the uh Cast and Crude also. It's called Moses the Black. It sounds familiar. Moses the Black. We gotta watch that and talk about it. I haven't watched it yet, but it's gonna, it's one of those, it's along those, those lines. Okay. Of um with the film that Nate Parker was uh creating.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, these are these are things that happen, man. Sorry about the tangent, but that's what you're here for. This is what you guys are here for. Cast and crude is what you're here for. But uh back to uh Is God is, yeah. Um I'm gonna I'm gonna watch it, and I think we should come back to it. Absolutely. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Um speaking of black folk, speaking of actors, speaking of guys that um maybe peaked.
SPEAKER_01Oh um, Daniel Kaluya. I think I'm pronouncing that right. It's an African last name. He's African, he's one of the black Brits. You should know how to say it. Why why why would I why why would I and not you? I I didn't say I couldn't. Okay. I'm trying to figure out why you couldn't. I don't know if that's his last name. Kaluuya. Kalua. Kaluah? What is it? I want you to say it again. I don't remember it. He don't remember. Daniel Kaluya. Kaluwa. What is it? I'm not helping you. Yeah, come on, bro. Daniel's son. Daniel, yes. Um last time we seen him was was that Nope. Well, which one came out first? I think Nope came out first. I mean, after. Maybe Nope, but I love Nope, by the way. Guess a lot of hate. It's I think it's on Netflix now. It's pretty good. Rewatch. Oh, you saw it already. It's it's a great move. It's the first time I ever seen, I don't want to spoil it, an alien that way. Yeah. You've never seen that before. Never. Shout out Jordan Peele. Um, yeah, so that's the last time we've seen him. I heard recently that brace yourself. And tell me if you've heard about this in your circles, because I know you're a Hollywood guy. Alright.
SPEAKER_02He got a new agent. And the agent is a part of a cult. He's in the cult, currently. What kind of cult are we talking about?
SPEAKER_01He's just a cult. It's just a cult. He's he literally fell off the face of the planet. He's legit. His new agent is a member of a cult, and uh they're saying he's a part of this cult. So yeah, Danny Kula. That's where he is.
SPEAKER_00That's possible. You ever heard of anything like that? No. Spooky? I've heard of spooky things, but not that in that in particular. Yeah, no, I'm just gonna go with nothing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so that's apparently where he's been. And allegedly. He hasn't been in anything. You think he just made enough money and was like, I'm done acting?
SPEAKER_00I've seen actors, artists disappear for five, six, seven, eight times, ten years, whatever, and just pop up and they're just in everything again. Just a little different. So Dave Chappelle being one of them, you know. You have stories that don't really add up ultimately, but whatever.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you don't believe the Chappelle thing?
SPEAKER_00I don't believe all of it, no. Really? Can you give me a little bit of what you think happened? Y'all want to go there today? Yeah, just a little just a little bit. Just a little bit. I think a lot of a lot of times, back to the whole the Nat turn thing, these people have consciences. Some people have less of a conscience than others, some have more moral, a foundational moral or moral code that was either instilled in them from a child or just by the grace of the most high, they just have that. And I think when they do things, you know, to to kind of uh stay relevant, you know, whether it's a shaming ritual or you know, I'm writing a film and they're like, Well, we want to make this character homosexual, you want to make this character uh kill his children for no reason, whatever it is, right? And they they they do these things. After a while, they realize I'm not the creator anymore, I'm just selling my soul on the face. I created it my way and now I have to do it their way in order to continue and make all this money. And I think in Dave Chappelle's case, he um his conscience kicked in and he was like, I gotta get out of here. And a lot of people in on that stage, on that level, think that if you get the information out, there's a group or someone who can help you. They don't realize that this goes so high up that once you kind of deviate from what you signed up for by signing contracts, which you have to agree. Yeah, agree. And I know some actors who are a little higher up and they say these contracts that people sign, these big like, oh a five-movie deal with uh with the MCU, these contracts be like this thick of the You can't you can't humanly read that. And if you don't read the fine, fine print, you don't realize that there's stuff in there that you know is like, yo, listen, if you don't do what we say, we have the right to end your career, blackball you, or worse, you know what I'm saying? So I think in Dave Chappelle's case that um he decided to run and um they got somebody to portray him in front of us now.
SPEAKER_01Oh, so you don't think this is Dave Chappelle? Allegedly. Oh yeah. This is the GRI know. I'm just saying, I he be right a lot. We give him a lot of flag in the group chats, we be cutting this guy's ass. But he's he's been coming up black. I'm Iron Man. He's been coming up black.
SPEAKER_00He's been coming up black. But the point is, um I just don't know if that's the same person. And that could have multiple meanings. Could be a totally different person, it could be a different programmed mind, which is also something that's very real. Yeah, they admitted this um um MK Ultra shit is real. Yeah, they got it from Russia, they've been using it here. Shout out Soldier Boy, Soldier Boy. Put a little bit in there. And um, what's his name too? Winter Soldier.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they put it, they put it they put it. Remember that thing I you know, I don't know. We we already had a level. Yeah, it's fine. Let's um Daniel, Daniel, if you are okay, just start in a movie. Blink. You know what? He's uh Jordan Peel's um muse. He's his um Michael B. Jordan, yeah. Yeah, so he hasn't made a movie in a while. Could just be that. Jordan Peel? Yeah, he hasn't made a movie in a while. Neither one of them, yeah. Maybe he's part of the cult too. Allegedly. Not that uh I think the cult thing is like real. Like his agent is actually like openly like nah, I'm in a cult. I'm gonna throw allegedly on there for now. No, of course. All of this is alleged. If you want to be my if you want to be my people who want to be my client, I you gotta join this. You haven't heard no culty stuff? Like, how close have you gotten to like the I've heard culty stuff? Because I want to be there. I want to say no. I want to have the opposite, I want to be, I want somebody to proposition me.
SPEAKER_00It's culty. I want it. Because you see, I'll give you an example. Like, again, like you have Ryan Kugler, he's only working with Michael B. Jordan. That's his muse, dog. That's the way they told him. He's the only one you got. I think that they hook people up. Like, this is you're gonna work with these two of you gonna do this together. We're gonna build you guys up together. We're gonna make you a great director because you're gonna be constantly working with this guy. We're making a big star. You're gonna be a big star because you're doing films with this guy. You know what I'm saying? Same thing goes for Jordan Peel and um Daniel Kalua. Is that you have Jordan Peel who's already been big off of from way back in Mad TV days? They're building him up. He's funny, he has his own show. Now we're gonna segue into serious stuff and we're gonna add this guy to you and connect them and build you up, build you up. And then we're gonna throw him in Black Panther and build him up even more. So that's how they do it. They connect you with someone at that level, at the highest level. You can do it down here too, but you get the boy band effect where it's like, all right, well, the actor, we like him, he's down for our program. The director is a little bit edgy, he wants to do too much uh, you know, faith-based stuff. And what we're gonna do is elevate you, but only under the condition that you kind of leave your boy behind or leave your whatever, your friend behind. That's how they do it a lot of times. I wouldn't leave you, bro. But I would want them to ask me though. If you did, I wouldn't I wouldn't uh begrudge you for it. I would just say uh protect your soul at all times. That's what I would say. I just want them to ask me. That's what he was about. I just want the friends.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, thank you for inviting me. No, but thank you. But yeah. Y'all know ball. That's all I want to tell them. Good pick. But sorry, ain't going. It's true. All right. All right, man. Daniel, just you know, come back to this. How do you pronounce his last name again? One more time? Kahlua. Kalua. I can't do that. Something about Kahula? Kahlua. Kahua. Kahlua. Daniel Kahlua. Let me make sure I'm kidding. You made out. I wrote it like that. Yeah? But I don't even know if I spelled it correctly. But yeah. Alright, um, let's go to this movie that's been, you know, creating a lot of headlines. Let me break it down for you. It's called Obsession. To me, this movie was paranormal activity.
SPEAKER_02Meets get out and they have a baby. It's the movie is is based on what you call it's so it's a scary movie.
SPEAKER_01Okay. It is demonic. Sorry, you're losing points. It is demonic, uh, but the only movies that scare me are the demonic ones. It's not demonic in the sense of there's a demon afoot. If there's a demon afoot, those movies, like something in my soul is scared of that. That shit bothers. Ghosts, I could do, I could deal with, aliens, I could deal with, but the demon thing, like paranormal activity, when it was just a ghost, I was cool. But then when you saw that footprint, I was like, oh yeah, this is too real. This is too real. This is too real. This is too real. This can happen. Like, this is too real. Yeah. And then the witches popped up out of nowhere. That was where they go. Like, that was being crazy. Yeah, it's too real too. So spoiler alert, if you have not seen obsession, I'm gonna spoil some of it because I want GR Tag at least watch the movie. So in this universe that we live in, in this movie, there's like this hacky, like kind of toy you would buy at Trader Joe's or something. It's called like a Willow's Wish or some shit like that. And in the universe, it's fake. Like niggas is like, that shit ain't real. So the the character that we're following, he goes, he buys one, and he he wishes something, and he wishes for a girl to be obsessed with him. And like the monkey paw uh curls. It's essentially a monkey paw. Like you make a wish, and the monkey paw is gonna grant you the wish, but it's gonna be the worst version of the wish that you could have asked for. And that's essentially the premise. The movie is not as scary as it made it seem, and they use no name actors. So that's what makes it good, though. The acting is good, the acting is good because you don't know who's gonna die, who's gonna live. And that but the acting also has to be good. I don't want you to use no-name actors until they suck. No, they have to be. They're good though. They were good. The standout actress is the woman, the girl that plays the obsessor. I don't even know if that's a word. I'll find her name. She kills it. Yeah, she killed she's it's worth the watch. She kills it. I hope she's a budding star. She kills it. The premise is dope. Um and it does the thing where if you lived in a world that you could wish for anything, and you find out that it's real, one of the first things you wish for is financial stability. So you actually get a character that does the in-character thing. So let me give you some stats on this.
SPEAKER_00What's the character's name? Nikki? I believe so. Alright, so her name is Indy Navarro Navarate. Mexica? Indy Indy Navarate. The main character, Bear, Michael Johnston.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, those those two kids. Let me give some stats though. This is the this is the part of the of the um the movie that I think is gonna um it's gonna hit. Stats. Yeah. So the guy that made it is a 26-year-old former YouTuber. The movie cost him $750,000 to make. The opening weekend was $17.2 million. How did it get into theaters?
SPEAKER_02You want my honest answer? You want me to look in the camera tell you? Both.
unknownWhite power.
SPEAKER_01Like, I really I really don't know how else. Because how does a random YouTube nigga just get this movie into go through Sundance and all of this shit? Maybe it did.
SPEAKER_00I didn't hear about it until there's gotta be some kind of context for missing, which is of course. Just bear with us with that part because so this is this is what what it makes the movie crazy.
SPEAKER_01The second weekend grew 30%. That never happened. So the movie's more successful the second weekend. I could think of a couple. No, it's it's it's rare. It's rare. It's rare happens, yeah. Yeah, and it's a horror movie, which uh they don't do well after the because once the bag cat is out the bag, once the first weekend is over, horror movies don't do well because we already know what happens.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's not like a you know compelling, like you're not going there, you know what I'm saying? So this doesn't happen for horror movies. So it the numbers are crazy. Um, it costs less than the catering budget for the Mandalorian Grogu movie. That makes sense.
SPEAKER_00Because Mandalorian and that Grobo movie. The catering budget? Smack food, bro. So Mandalorian, Mandalorian was huge. Yo! But honorable men honorable mentions to a few films that came out that weren't like you know big and weren't expected. Like just out of nowhere. Napoleon Dynamite, yep. Blair Witch Project, and Paranormal Activity. Paranormal Activity, the first one. Came out of nowhere. We're like, what is this? And it was good. But yeah, this is uh unprecedented because that you that whole second week thing is not that doesn't happen. Yeah. But I don't know, maybe people were like, oh, it's not it's it's good, I'll go see it. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01It's also like weapons. Did you watch weapons?
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, get out weapons and paranormal activity had a baby and made this movie. Yeah? Yeah. It has essence of all of those things. Okay. It's dope. It's dope. And I would watch it again. So if you're gonna watch it, I'll tag along. Alright. You like demon stuff though? I don't. I like scary movies. But like I could do the vampires. You like the fear, the the the fear like sensation?
SPEAKER_00No, I mean I don't hate it. I don't get scared unless it's demon. Being scared makes me really upset. Oh, you don't like it? I don't like being scared of anything.
SPEAKER_01It makes me really mad. Okay. I don't be scared though. Demon shit scares me. But this is not demon. Alright. It's demon adjacent. Like, if you know what you're looking at, like I don't like the demon shit where the demon is like it's a demon demon.
SPEAKER_00He just don't want the demon to say I'm a demon. Yeah. Tell me that.
SPEAKER_01It's it's demon stuff, but it's like it's more on the line of like it's kind of like witchcrafty. It witches demon stuff, don't get me wrong, but it's there's not a demon there. Like, nah, that footprint was enough, dog. Like I'm saying, I could deal with the ghost, the witches, the the the all of that stuff. I feel like I was like 19 when I saw that that one. I saw the footprint. That shit that shit scarred. Oh that shit burned into my memory. I was like I turned from the spot. I stopped watching the whole series after that. Yeah, it was because there's more movies after. I think that might have been the third one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was sick.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but see, I could deal with that. You can deal with that? Yeah, because I'm just a guy trying to live. Yeah, I think didn't he uh wasn't he dating like a baby mom? Yeah, something like that. Yeah, but I can't deal with the what's the once I know there's a demon around, yeah. Because it's too real, it's too real. Like I believe because I believe in that stuff. The ghost shit, I know ghosts aren't real. I don't believe in ghosts, but the foot.
SPEAKER_00I'm calling my whole church. You're about to pray this house to pieces. If I see a footprint, nah, nah.
SPEAKER_01You see, at that point, that point I know I did something wrong. Uh if that shit is in my house, I can't. I'm not bringing the church into that. I did that. That's my fault. I just gotta move out. I did something wrong. I invited that into my house. How did that get here? Selling the whole house as it is. Yeah, like it. I don't need a house. What do I need a house for? I clearly doing something wrong in my life. Let me repent. I don't need a house. Go live at the church. Yeah, exactly. Like something has to change dramatically in my life. That hoof shows up. Huff? Yeah, that shit was nasty. That shit was scary. I can see it right now when I close my eyes. That's why you shouldn't watch things like that. You see? That's what I'm saying. Yeah, but obsession ain't like that. There's nothing in the movie that's gonna make you like, nah, this is too real. It's actually very campy in a good way.
SPEAKER_00The thing is, like, even with like horror films, historically, I haven't really got scared of most of them. Because then they're not scary. The one that I think the only one, and I was young, when you're a kid, things do scary, obviously. But Exorcist, it was like Nah, see, that's demon shit, though. Exactly. It was like paranormal activity. That was it. The first one wasn't scary.
SPEAKER_01I've seen a few of them in my life. I'm like, these just don't. Nah, when I see a demon, I can't something about my spirit. Don't take that shit. Yeah, obsession. Check it out. It's not as scary as the hype meter. And uh, shout out my homegirl Hannah, too. She's the one that actually put me on, and she's actually supposed to be the third person on the show, remember? I was about to say. She's just you know you don't like her. No, no, no. I'm not letting her no. I think I think she's scared. She's scared? Yeah. Hannah, you scared? I think so. Personally. That's the only excuse. But yeah, shout out Hannah for putting me onto uh obsession. Alright, um, we're nearing that uh part of the episode that we're gonna we're gonna do a magical Nego draft, but we're not there yet. I just wanna I was mad excited. Oh no, slow, slow walk the dog. It's anime corner. It's probably my favorite segment where we talk about anime and things of the such. We gotta always give anime love, bro. Um I'm gonna go back to Black Clover. Mr. Taylor, I was you a week ago. I still turned up episode around episode 35. 35? Yeah, around episode 35. Oh wow. Yeah, the show it goes up a level. Is it a tournament? Somebody No, it's not. No, somebody gets like memed way before that. I know that, but like someone died. Nah, nobody died yet. Not that it's just like old. No, no, I got you. I I get it. But it's starting to pick up. It's it's getting there. It's starting to the it's building the world better. It's um they introduced key. Not not and they they did it in a dope way, too. So you know how the the the show, the power system is man, mana, or however they yeah they interchange it. The main character has an issue with that clearly. So the crew that he's in, the black bull crew, because you get you got to all of this already, right? No, you didn't. I didn't. Okay. I just hope I'm not spoiling anything. The crew that he's in, um, we don't really know the the the captain's power yet. We start to realize the levels in between captains and stuff like that. And then he lets the cat out the bag that he's not from here. I'm from a di a distant land. I ended up here. I do I have mana though, I have magic, but I also where I come from, we we use key, we read key. So it added another power system that is not fleshed out yet at all. I'm up to episode 48, and it's still kind of the key thing is new, it's brand new. So yeah, it it is it's getting there. I see the I see the allure so far. It's still Naruto with magic in a worse version. Because I wouldn't be so mad if it was Naruto with magic, but it was just as good as Naruto. Yeah, it's not, and that's that's my problem. It's like why would I watch this show when I could just rewatch Naruto? Yeah, so but I'm I'm I told you I'm gonna give it a season. There's 50 episodes, I think, in a season. So you're like I'm at 48. I'm gonna watch season two. Okay. I'm there. All right. They got me. I'm not there. But 35, get to 35-ish. And if you drop it after that, I got you. I told you, I'm telling you what show I'm watching next. Yeah, let me get you a list. You got a list?
SPEAKER_00I'm watching Fire Force right now.
SPEAKER_01Oh, please watch that.
SPEAKER_00Um, yeah, you told me to watch it.
SPEAKER_01It's a quick one, it's only three seasons.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, now I'm in season one. It's uh it's getting good.
SPEAKER_01Do you see the stuff I'm talking about?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, they would how they have to pray them. Laton. Yeah, I see. I I kind of very Catholic. Yeah, it's very Catholic. Right now, I like it though, because they're showing you there's some kind of uh there's a like, yo, listen, this is still a soul that needs to be ushered into the other side, and what happened to them is tragic and uh has a nefarious Bro.
SPEAKER_01I can't wait till you get to I'm about to rewatch the shit with you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, I can't wait. After that, well, I might watch it at the same time, but I gotta watch Hunter Hunter too. I can't yo, I think Hunter Hunter is old though.
SPEAKER_01Like it's old.
SPEAKER_00It's from the 90s, isn't it? Yeah, something I think it was remade. Okay, okay. It's on Netflix, so I have to finish it.
SPEAKER_01I I was gonna it was for me, it was between Hunter Hunter and um Black Clover, but Black Clover was getting so much gas. So I was like, I gotta watch this. Talk about Black Hover for a minute. I'm like now I'm thinking I might have made a mistake. Because I heard this Kahlua cat it's the same name. Kaluya. No, it's the what's the nigga's name in Hunter X Hunter? I don't know. I think it's Kahlua. Kill Killu. Whatever. His name is Killer and a UA at the end. How would you pronounce that? Killer with a UA? Yeah, so Kill UA. Killua. Yeah, I think that guy is supposed to be like uh Vegeta Sasuke type, but done really well. Alright. Alright, I'm gonna check it out. Yeah, I heard he's like a monster. Yeah, that uh yeah, I've been not hearing a lot of recommendations. Yeah, I heard he's he's he's a beast. Alright, let me give you some uh so I found this list on Twitter. Because Twitter is is my uh TikTok.
SPEAKER_02It's my favorite social media. You mean X? I refuse. Hold on. Alright, so this is the the top 15 most disturbing anime.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna butcher a majority of it. Because I'm not Japanese. Let me hear this. So Shojuwa Subaki. That's number one on the list. Number two is Perfect Blue. Perfect blue. Number three is Made in Abyss. Number four is Higarashi Colon, When They Cry. Number five is Devil Man Crybaby. I might start with that one. That already sounds. Just to get it out the way. Because I've seen a demon. See, I could do the I could do the demon in anime now that I think about it. Because it's a drawing. Because it's a drawing. Yeah. Alright. Elfin Lied. That's number six. Number seven is Serial Experiments Lane. Uh number eight is Paranoid Agent. I know you remember that one. That's an old ass one. That's from um Toonami days.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I never watched it like sequential because it just used to come on after watching. I like it. I don't I don't remember what it's about. Uh another is uh number nine. Number ten is Tex. I can't even I need you to pronounce that. Number six. Try, try. I don't even know what that's trying to do. Number 10.
SPEAKER_00Number 10 is Uh-huh. Try, huh? Tex Snalzy. Okay. There you go. That's definitely wrong.
SPEAKER_01It's better than what I was gonna say. Uh 11 is Corpse Party. Number 12 is Monster. Pretty straightforward. Uh number 13 is Sheiki. Number uh 14 is Happy Sugar Life. Number 15 is Berserk. Now Berserk is an old ass anime. I tried to watch it, but it's the dude with the sword? Yeah, it's too old. I'm waiting for a remake because they have a remake coming.
SPEAKER_00We should have had um the guest on today. I mean um my brother, because he's old school?
SPEAKER_01He watched Berserk. I heard Berserk is elite, though.
SPEAKER_00He said he gets wild. It's like kind of nasty.
SPEAKER_01I heard I heard it's elite. I heard it's like Kratos and like Dante's Inferno type stuff. I don't have to watch that trip. Yeah, but it's really old, dog. Like I tried to start. You're an old nigga, I forgot.
SPEAKER_00I like the old graphics. Like I said last week, you know, Princess Mononoko, I love that type of anime graphic. But anyway, I'm gonna watch it. Yeah, that's the last time you're gonna call me old, son.
SPEAKER_01I think it's a term of endearment. How? That means you survive. You're a black man. Every day past 21 is elite for black men. I expect to live to 150. That's beautiful. Well, you forgot we live in America. I ain't afraid of America. You don't gotta be afraid of nothing besides demons. See? You're a better man than me. You're older. Wiser. Had some battles. Survive. See, don't tell me about that. I'm sorry. You're about to scare me, dog. Don't talk about that. I wear those scars.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, that's 15 uh new potential animals. I like that. Um, I'm definitely gonna check some of those out.
SPEAKER_01Can you send me that list when you'll send it to you right now?
SPEAKER_00From your uh X account? Yeah, my Twitter account. It's called it's literally called X. Like, does that have a little blue bird or a big white X on it? I don't I don't see how you gotta listen. You can't tell Elon Musk's story. Like, that's his story now. No, it's not. You're not just gonna turn sell us his. He bought it for somebody. It's his it's his though. It's he didn't make it. Called it Twitter. I mean I'm telling X. It's Twitter.
SPEAKER_01It's X, bro. Twitter's gone. Twitter's dead. Twitter is real. I was there. There's a burst though. There's a burst somewhere on this app still. I'ma find it though. But yeah. I got you. I'm gonna send it to you. Alright. Are we prepared? I gave you enough time. So ready. I got my look. Before we start, we are about to give you guys another thing you need to vote on. Casting crew, please vote. Y'all, y'all watch the shit. I see y'all watching it. Just just vote. We set up a nice little poll pause. Vote. Because we have to explain to him why he keeps losing, because he doesn't get it. But it's fine. I'm not losing. We're gonna do a magical Negro draft. Mr. GR, can you kind of explain to the Casting Crew what a magical Negro is?
SPEAKER_00A magical Negro is this character who you typically shows up in a film or a TV show, but usually it's a film. He he or she is there to guide um uh to be like the the fairy godmother type of character to the um typically a white person in a film. It could also be another race, but it's typically white because it's America. This person shows up, they give a lot of wisdom, uh, they they help the character to navigate through problems. They will have this element about them that's not very um human. When I say that, I'm not saying like they're a monster or anything weird, it's just very like magical. Just magical. It's like, oh, where'd you come from? Why did you have the exact you said exactly what I need to hear? I would have never came up with that. You're they're literally a walking epiphany and a walking vat of wisdom, knowledge, and you know, typically some kind of humor. You know, so um that's what a magical Negro is. Um Do you have Morgan on your list? Uh let me see, let me see. Because I just want to use him as the example.
SPEAKER_01Let me see, let me see. I believe I do not. I do have him on my list, but the character that have him as, you're probably not you use him, just use him.
SPEAKER_00Alright, cool. He's on well, I'm using him as an example. Morgan Freeman is his hall, like right now, his niche is the magical negro. One great example is Bruce Almighty. He actually plays God and he's guiding Bruce, who's played by Jim Carrey. This nigga took my fucking character. You that's what you came up with? That was like what I'm saying. Oh, you're gonna get smoked after that's what you came up with.
SPEAKER_01That was one of them with one of them.
SPEAKER_00All right, but uh yeah, he guides Jim Carrey's character. See how he's cheating already, by the way. I'm not cheating, I'm just giving him a chance. He stole a character that I had. No, no, I just made that one neutral. We can't use it now. Yeah, yeah. Clearly. Um it's fine. Um, but yeah, he guides him through the through the film. He pleases God. That's like an example. That's the epitome of magical negro.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. It's the most magical negro ever.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. But yeah, that's what the magical negro is, and we are now going to list our top five and vote on which one is better.
SPEAKER_01Do you want to go? Who went first last time? You're gonna go one for one. Yeah, so who went first? I think I went first last time. Okay, so you want me to go first? Yeah. Alright. Um, my first pick will be. I'm gonna go with uh Bagger Vance, played by Will Smith in the movie The Ledger.
SPEAKER_00Ah was wicked. That is my first pick. Boom, you got it. All right. That was good, that was great. Yes. I was also gonna use Will Smith, but I was gonna use both films. You can you can use him still. I was gonna say Bagger Vance and Aladdin. You can use him. Because he played the genie, which is literally a magical negro. A magical negro. But I'm not gonna use that character. Uh that I'm gonna use Lawrence Fisherburn from um The Matrix. Okay. That was a phenomenal portrayal and a respectable portrayal of a magical negro. Yes. He literally takes Neo from being Mr. Anderson all the way to being the one. He was the one person who truly believed outside of Trinity all the way through and was willing to die behind it, and then throughout the whole thing was also was giving him um wisdom. So that's my first pick.
unknownAll right.
SPEAKER_01That's cool, that's cool. Alright. So for my second pick, I'm gonna go with this is tough. This is like I don't know where you're going. I don't know where you're going. Um I'm gonna go with uh John Coffee, played by Michael Douglas in the Green Mile. Yo, you listen. I gotta take all the big dogs off the field. All right, bet. Go ahead. Because I got I got a couple obscure characters. So the reason, you know, I think that's like it was a Tom Hanks movie, obviously. Um, and he just did a phenomenal job. Like, you know, it had a lot of good cool uh special visible visible effects and stuff like that. And he was he was magical. You didn't know he was magical the whole time, did you though? No. But the conversations they had was implying, yeah, it was implying, and then he finally did some feats that made him um you know a magical nigga.
SPEAKER_02So that's um that's two for me. John Coffey, Michael Douglas, green. Who you got, Mr.
SPEAKER_00GR? Ah, wow. Well I'll I might as well just go there. I'm gonna go with McKetty Williamson, and that was played um, and that was a movie Forrest Gump. He played Bubba. Okay, definitely um literally a large part of Forrest Gump's uh wealth came from Bubba. This character who and and I like their the way they created him as the magical negro because he actually was a weirdo to a degree, or at least he was funny. He was on the spectrum. He was on the spectrum, so he was just like um force. But that helped him get through a lot of his military issues. He met him and instantly was a connection, and they were in everything together. He was like, You lay up and you put your back up against my back, so neither one of our heads get wet. Okay, Bubba. And it was just that kind of deal where he guided him through that experience, which led um Tom Hanks' character, Forrest Gump, to become a hero and you know, be get the badges and the medals and become famous, and he begins to run. He gets reunited with Jenny because of his military service. He wouldn't have survived it without Bubba. So that's the magical Negro. The only difference is in this case he had to die in order for um the rest of the film to get death, don't stop you from being a magical negro now.
SPEAKER_01100%.
SPEAKER_00So that's my second second pick.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, uh, let me just go over it real fast. Let's make sure we're on up and up. Yeah, so you have uh Bubba and Mr. Fishburn Morpheus. So, with my third selection, I think uh Mr. Taylor um he underestimated my uh ability to go through history and find these magical negroes. If you take one other one, my picks, I'm gonna be probably a I'm gonna go with Dudley, played by Denzel in The Preacher's Wife. That's a movie where Denzel don't lady not a magical negro. He definitely is a magical negro. Oh, you're gonna got a white person. No, no, no. You literally said it. I said gotta get a white person. Oh, you said it's typically white or another race. It could be anybody. How you gonna be a magical negro to other Negroes? I'm gonna explain why. I'm gonna explain why. In that movie, he played an angel that was trying to take the preacher's wife, dog. Yeah, that's my how's that magic? You're not helping.
SPEAKER_00He was sent to help the preacher.
SPEAKER_01He helped their marriage, he's trying to help the preacher, he helped their marriage by trying to show the wife, and it worked. Listen, y'all, yeah, you see. Hold on if that one counts. I'm scared. I'm not scared. That wouldn't count, man. But I just had to get Denzel in there. Uh yeah, Denzel women is preaching. I love that movie. Before your time. I love that movie, though. I'm gonna go to Preacher's Wife, Denzel. He plays the angel uh Dudley. Okay.
SPEAKER_00That's what you want to do? Yep. Alright, well, I'm gonna go with um Apollo Creed played by Carl Weathers in the Rocky series. Oh, okay. Rocky was a bum, a bum fighter who had an amazing or a very tough chin, who could take a hit and just keep fighting. That's how he ended up having a draw with the the far more superior boxer and highly skilled um Apollo Creed who's played by Carl Weathers. Carl Weathers. After that point, after he kind of like, you know, I think they had the rematch in Rocky won. After that, Apollo Creed's character was his mentor, the one who got him from being just this I'm just a tough guy who takes punches and just keeps swinging, to becoming a skilled fighter who's able to later on be clubberlang. He also ended up having to, you know, be the sacrificial lamb to die fighting Drogo. Um and then later, even you know, the roles flipped and Sylvester Stone's character, Rocky became the magical Caucasian for um Carlweather's son, um Apollo Creed's son, you know, baby Creed. So that's my third pick. Uh Klubber Lang was uh Mr. T. That was Mr. T. Uh he beat him or he lost? He beat the brakes off of um Rocky the first time, and then Rocky got he started really training with Apollo Creed. Apollo's like, nah, I got you.
SPEAKER_01Okay. So Rocky only lost to black people. He Yes, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Alright, no, I'm that's that's that's he had a he had originally had a tie with um with um Apollo Creed. And then um he beat Apollo Creed and then um Clubber Lang beat the brakes off him. It was bad. I think it was another fight he had too that he lost. I think he lost to the young black dude and he did the one in the later later years. Anyway, yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Alright. For my next pick, I'm actually gonna select a woman. Don't do this. Oh my god. Go ahead. I gotta. It's probably not the same. It's not the same. Um, it's Oda Mae Brown, played by Whoopi Goldberg in the movie Ghost. She's the one that taught my man that's a good one how to be a ghost. That is a really good one. Yeah. I think Ghost is an underrated movie, and she's a magical negro in that movie. She's, you know, very instructive in that movie.
SPEAKER_00That was my fourth pick. I'm gonna raise you a female.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_00Um there's a movie called The Help. Okay. You have I don't go with two picks at the same time. Oh, you're gonna go Nah, just one. Okay. Go with Olivia Spencer in the Help. Um, this is the there was a young white woman in the help who her mother didn't really extend enough love to her, but Olivia Spencer, along with another cast of a long a cast of black women, were like, you know, copy obviously working for white people, and she would pull the little girl aside and say, You are smart, you are beautiful, you are she spoke life into her life into that little girl, and you know, helped her navigate some things too.
SPEAKER_02Um okay.
SPEAKER_00Alright, yeah, that's my fourth pick. That's your fourth pick. One just came to my mind that you're not gonna be able to beat. Okay.
SPEAKER_01So I could go one of two ways here. He he took my, you know, uh Morgan Freeman pick. And Morgan Freeman has a bunch of them, but I was I think that's the pinnacle of the role where he took it off the board, which is a genius move by him. I gotta give uh Mr. Taylor a, you know, that's that's some gamesmanship right there. That's what we do. Um I already got a Will Smith pick, and he can still use Will Smith, because Will Smith was the genie. He's off the board. Okay. Your rules are just living them. So I'm gonna go with um another 90s star that is uh famous for actually being a basketball player. He talks like this, his name is Shaquille O'Neal. He played a magical negro. Kazam, actually. Kazam, like Kazam. I'm gonna go with Shaq in the movie Kazam. He was literally a magical Negro for a little white boy. And um there's there's like a thing about that movie. It's um it's part of the um the Mandela effect.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they were saying it never happened.
SPEAKER_01They're saying that uh he it was played by Sinbad. It wasn't Shaq. Sinbad does happen. That's Kazam.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so they say that Kazam don't exist. Kazam happened. I was there. I'll never forget when the white boy said I want candy from here to the sky or whatever, junk food. And that big pile of pancakes almost killed him.
SPEAKER_01I'll never forget that. Yeah, so they they jacking that that movie never came out and it was uh it was Sinbad. Yeah, so that's my final uh selection. Can I give an honorable mention? You could do whatever you please, brother, but I if I was you though, this is just some advice. I would pick your fifth first.
SPEAKER_00I'm then giving an honorable mention. I'm going to because you know, like that Shaq one you picked, depending on who's watching in the casting crew, yeah, um, that's a that's an edge, that's an edge pick because some people might remember that. Some of the picks I'm going with are like deep in the bag.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, those they're they're more like you know, deep cuts. Like you gotta be a real cinephile to um to like somebody.
SPEAKER_00And if I lose, I'll lose at this point because at this point, this one is heavy. This one is called it's from a film called Karina Karina. You said we could use the same person, so yeah, of course. Karina Karina, and um it's starring Whoopi Goldberg, she's a magical negro in this. And the character she plays against uh a guy named Ray Leota. Go watch that film, she's a super magical negro. She comes to the life of a white man and his daughter. I think they lost the mother, the mother passed away or something. She comes in to like help. And um she's basically helping to mend the relationship between the father and the daughter. And I think at a certain point they hint at the father being like attracted to her at some point, and I think she's kind of like, no, this is not what that is. But uh she comes in and basically fills a gap and uh helps to you know uh rebuild a family. So she's my fifth pick. Do you have any honorable mentions?
SPEAKER_01Yes, I do. I actually wanted to ask you how you felt about this. Um, how do you feel about Sammy from Sinners being a magical negro?
SPEAKER_00No, no. The guitar. Sammy's the protagonist and the victim. If there's a magical negro in that film, it would be uh the the the wife. I forget her name, but she's literally a magical negress. Yeah, she was one of those doing all the witchcraft.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Alright, um I think we should just go over our list one more time. Um I wrote them down, so I I can say that. Alright, go for it. And just correct me where I'm wrong. Um, we got for GR, he has Morpheus from uh the Matrix franchise, uh McKenzie Wilson Williamson, which is Bubba from Forrest Gump, uh Paulo Creed from the Rocky franchise. Carl Withers, yep. Um Carl Brothers, yeah. Olivia Spencer from The Help, uh, and we have Whoopi Goldberg from Karina Karina. Yes, sir. So me, the winner. Um I have Bagger Vance, uh played by Will Smith in The Legend of Bagger Vance. I have John Coffey played by Michael Douglas in The Green Mile. I have a controversial pick, which is Dudley, the Angel, played by Denzel and the Preacher's Wife. Negative five points. I have um Odome Brown, played by Whoopi Goldberg and Ghost. And I have The Diesel, Shaq, Shackdis, the Big Cactus. Played uh he plays Kazam. I should have chosen the movie Kazam. I should have just said steal if I was gonna do that. Magical Negro, yeah. 100%. Well, I hope you guys enjoy. Please, guys, go out and vote. Um, we we we want to continue doing these drafts. We have so much fun. Absolutely. If you guys want to suggest us to do a draft, like uh anime protagonist, um um, you know, oh I can't think of another draft right now.
SPEAKER_00There's many top seven characters bald niggas. Krillin got it, bro. All time? Oh, all time? Bald niggas, yeah. All time. Like in everything. In everything. Michael be Michael Jordan.
SPEAKER_01Michael Jordan over Elmer Foot. Nah, he's I gotta think about this. Michael Jordan. He's not the greatest bald nigga. Greatest bald person? Bald nigga is he's not the greatest bald nigga. Name another one. Kareem out the bald nigga. TD was not his fault. Yeah, he wasn't on his fault. Jordan me being bald, cool. Are you serious? Have you heard Onyx? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I was crying when I heard the yo, that was the funniest thing ever heard.
unknownFan.
SPEAKER_01Fredro Star, man. Shout out to Fredo Starr shout out New York, shout out to Sticky Fingers, shout out Onyx, man. I would love to have more on this. Just in the B here wild stuff. You know what's dope? Yeah. I said that in the in the chat too. A lot of old New York black dudes are really into comics, anime, and stuff like that.
SPEAKER_00I was it's it's dope. I just gotta say, that's the irony of like a lot of me growing up as a kid, and like, you know, people try to make funny for certain things you like. I'm like, that doesn't make any sense. Like, who's it um and from Staten Island, the whole group. The Wu-Tang. The Wu-Tang, they're whole thing Asian culture. Yeah, and every any rapper, you any rap fan you know who from the you know, authentic hip-hop, they swear by the Wu-Tang club. Oh, yeah. And that's what they're into. And I know a lot of guys who are around that age group probably they're getting they're pushing 50 now. A lot of them used to love the karate, you know.
SPEAKER_01Wait, why are you trying to separate yourself from them though? Me? Like that's I'm not sure. Y'all niggas is stop. Now you wild. All right, I got something for you. Alright. What are you doing? No, no, I'm sorry. I'll be sorry now. Sorry, bro. It was right there. It was right there. But you are correct, though. You are correct. I do love that because it was um, I think it was Rizza who was talking. I said I sent the clip and he was uh pointing out some um some anime. He says some wild shit though. I can't remember. He says it was funny though, whatever he said. Like he was like, he couldn't watch something because like he knew he would like like dedicate his whole life to it or something. Oh can't remember. But um, yeah, like I love that. Like, you know, we we are always so black people get a lot of credit for being inclusive, but we also don't get enough credit for how much respect we give to other cultures. Like, I think we do we're so dope at it, we don't even culturally appropriate. We do the they need a new word. Whatever we do, we culturally appreciate and we increase the value and respect of these things because black people control was cool. American black people specifically is like whatever's cool in the black American community, that is the gatekeep of what's cool worldwide. That's who you sell your products to, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Sold to black people, then it's gonna pop.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so that's just a fact. Just want to shout us out on this. Um we're not just up here faking the funk. We live this stuff. We genuinely like this stuff. 100%. This is this is our bag. Like when we in here debating about these these fights and these, you know, these things. How's Sean Pence here? He he didn't like it, he was I don't I don't know. I'll do it. Go ahead, do it. I love him.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was I I still can't get over that movie, man. Oh yeah, besides I was thinking about this thought before, and I uh you have something that you want to address before we close. Um, you remember? Because I forgot alright. Yeah, I remember. It was Leto and Key Man. Oh yeah. Oh, you want me to first? Oh, oh, just real quick, I was just like, you know, it was interesting about the whole Michael B. Jordan thing, like, and we're like, oh, why would he make a film with uh with not enough black women girls? But um the same way the same way we're not questioning Tiana Taylor's decision to play that role, a really wild role. When again, in that film, um was it one battle after another, it's just like we're not questioning, like she was in a love triangle with two white men abandoned her child essentially. She was just not a good person in the film. It was crazy. It was whatever. Anyway, he-Man real quick, my bad.
SPEAKER_01He-Man, where does he-Man what does He-Man mean to you?
SPEAKER_00Is there something you um I'm not gonna sit here and act like he was my one of my favorite characters growing up. I knew about what he who he was and who he fought a skeletor. At that from that era of um television, I was more into Thundercats. So I wasn't really thinking He-Man guy.
SPEAKER_01I didn't realize how big he-cause I'm this I'm I'm not even trying to make a joke. I'm just a little younger than you, so I didn't understand what was happening when He-Man was on the screen. It was just too much. I didn't get it. I don't know the story of He-Man. I don't know why Skeletor looks the way he looks versus why he-I don't know He-Man. Yeah, I know of it, but people are really excited about this. He-Man was big. I didn't I didn't know, and it's kind of going back. Um this is just me pitballing. I don't know shit about He-Man. Y'all can make fun of me, call me whatever you want, call me all kinds of racist. But I think white people need He-Man. I think that they they they have there's this white energy that is looking to latch onto something. That's why Homelander was they kind of fucked Homelander because he was kind of white masculinity until he went out how he went out. Oh, he was saying what people want. Yeah, I think white people need He-Man. I think he's gonna be. I don't think he's a bad guy. I'm not trying to say that at all. I think that he's a he could be, he's some brolic white dude and like a like a skirt kind of thing. But a blonde bull cut. Yeah, like so white boys need a they need a hero. Yeah, we got Wakanda Fever, they can have He-Man. It's not enough. Him?
SPEAKER_00You don't think Wakanda Fever's not enough.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, of course not, but I'm just saying, I'm not satisfied with that. We need meteor. I I need okay, we need Blue Marvel. We need, yo. We need Static Shot. Yeah. We need Luke Cage.
SPEAKER_00We need Luke Cage redone. You don't, yeah, I was yo, you really don't like it. I don't no, I don't dislike him. I just anyway. We need Luke Cage redone.
SPEAKER_01Okay, yeah. So I think uh yeah, white boys. Uh I'm a watching man. What's he man about?
unknownI don't know.
SPEAKER_01What's skeletor? Why do he look like that?
SPEAKER_00That's the big bad. Um, it's something magical. Are they humans? Like what humans? Yeah, like what's happening? Let me do research and come back to you guys. Deadass don't know nothing about it. I don't want to like butcher it. He has a massive fan.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like I didn't realize how big it was. Like, I was like, why are they making I thought this was gonna be like some kind of like Wings Brothers thing, like they making fun of it. You OD. No, I didn't realize like He-Man is on some Star Wars shit. Like, niggas love this. Yes, I did not know that. I'm a Thundercat person. Yeah, I fucked at the Thundercats. See, I I could understand it. They explained the show in the opening. My man Lee Lionel. They don't explain He-Man in the opening. Panther. Mighty man. Magical Negro. Oh, yeah, he's he's definitely a magical negro. I I gave you some time, nigga. When you lose this one, we can redo it. Nah, it's an honorable mention. Honorable mention. We could do it. Wait, did they vote on the last one? No, that's what I'm saying. The cast they're watching it, though. I'm just gonna say I won't.
SPEAKER_00I mean I brought Jamie Foxx.
SPEAKER_01We can say things. He was a magical Negro too. He's a magical negro in real life. He is. He probably is a yeah, he is, he is. Um yeah, he-Man. Who's Jim?
SPEAKER_00Oh, he's playing Skeletor? Um, Leto? Yeah. Okay. Got you. Okay. Yeah. I don't know who's playing He-Man. They love giving him shots. I'm not gonna lie.
SPEAKER_01He doesn't really bomb, it's just he got somebody like in the basement somewhere. He got somebody's kid. He might. He bombed Morbius to me. I think that was gonna bomb regardless. Yeah, it was a bad decision. You know what's funny? I didn't hate that movie. I didn't hate that movie. Rate it one in 30.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, go into the slop section.
SPEAKER_01It's a 17. A 17? I didn't like I didn't hate the movie. It had my man in there. Damon was in there, Damon Targaryen's in there. Oh, word? Yeah, I'm gonna have to watch it. Yeah, it had actors. I'm after watching it. It wasn't bad. It's Morbon time. It wasn't bad. It was not bad. I don't know why that nigga keeps getting rolls, though.
SPEAKER_00He's not a bad, he's a phenomenal actor. Really? Give me something. Even his per uh in um Suicide Squad, his portrayal of the Joker was good. She has Heath Ledger. Come on, it was a totally different take.
SPEAKER_01Give me another, yes, that is true. And it was his like thought child. Like he came up with that version. Yeah, and it was the wigger, the the wigger. They need to stop that though. He-Man is the way to go. That's a white guy. Being a white guy.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you gotta understand there are white people who grew up around certain cultures, and that's just who they are. I'm not gonna begrudge them that um I hear that a lot.
SPEAKER_01I hear that a lot. I didn't grow up around the white people though, so I don't know. I had no white family in my neighborhood. None? None. I didn't meet white people until middle school. Uh I know I know a lot of white people. Um, I had nothing against them. No, no, it's nothing against obviously. But I just didn't have that experience. So this whole hey, white boy in the hood thing, I never had that.
SPEAKER_00There's some who really grew up in the house. No, I believe that. And there's some who are just acting. And you can tell they're acting because they end up growing out of it.
SPEAKER_01You see, that's my problem. I can't tell the difference. That I've seen from college.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Oh, I love this kind of music. This is my deal. No, I'd rather do that. And I look on Facebook later and it's very like, you're now your soldier boy or your homeland. Confederate flag. Dang. Mustache. The mustache. One that's scary. Yeah, the mustache.
SPEAKER_01No, nothing else. Firefighter. I can't really put that. Nah, but they're not doing that on purpose.
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_01Firefighters doing that because that's the only face share they can have, right? Yeah. I'm talking about the niggas that don't have jobs, that are just mustache.
SPEAKER_00Just the stash?
SPEAKER_01You don't have no reason to just have a stash. No reason. It's like a dog.
SPEAKER_00You gotta you gotta balance it out about throwing the little thing down there. They don't even do that though. I know. They just must that.
SPEAKER_01When that mustache covers the lip with the glasses, the lip. Yeah, the walrus shit they got going on with the glasses that reflect. Oh no, those niggas I don't even want to be around. Those niggas ain't scared. Those is the tough white boys. I ain't what's my man from The Walking Dead? He had that shit. I was like, nah, those are the white boys you got to do. The handlebar with the mullet. Yeah. Ooh. Watch yourself. But um, what were you saying? Um let's face our steps. You was about to make a very good point. I felt it. It was um really. Yeah, this is this is what happens, man. Podcasting, you know?
SPEAKER_00When when I watch it, I'm like, oh, that's what I was gonna do.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's that's my fault. Oh, I I'm the tangent man.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no. Tangent like good. That's like go with your flow of thought. That's how creativity happens. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Alright, so He-Man, we in? I'm gonna check it out, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Alright.
SPEAKER_01We gotta watch a movie together. We have to select one. There's a whole bunch of shit coming out.
SPEAKER_00Uh that one I'll watch with you. So we and we gotta watch um Black Moses. I think that's what it's called. That's gonna be in theaters? I think it's one of those situations where they're like, nah, we can't let y'all see. Oh, so stream it. You have to stream it. Alright.
SPEAKER_01So you're hosting? I'll host. I'll bring the popcorn. Are you a popcorn guy or a nachos? I love popcorn. Oh, you just don't eat nothing at the movie. Top of the nigga. I like popcorn. Top of nigga are you? Popcorn. You ever fucked at the nachos?
SPEAKER_00Nah, really no. I'm like, I'm black and um I'm natur I'm lactose intolerant, so cheese.
SPEAKER_01There you go, nigga. That's not even real cheese in those nachos. That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_00It's no milk. Cheese-like substance. Yeah, that's a natural destroy your stomach and your house.
SPEAKER_01So I can't bring the nachos.
SPEAKER_00Nah, just bring chill.
SPEAKER_01Uh I'll bring some popcorn. You can eat nachos if you want. Nah, nah. You just said I can't destroy your house. So no, I'm saying because you're gonna be gonna be blown up. I'll pick up on subtle things, nigga. You said don't bring the nachos. I'm not gonna bring the nachos.
SPEAKER_00That's not what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's now that's not what he's saying.
SPEAKER_00Bring your nachos. I might make a face though.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, nah, I'm good. I'm good. I'll bring popcorn house.
SPEAKER_00Popcorn's extra butter. Or if you can get the truffle.
unknownTruffle.
SPEAKER_01Truffle.
SPEAKER_00Truffle butter.
SPEAKER_01You've been around the white niggas too long, man.
SPEAKER_00I've been around white niggas.
SPEAKER_01You know what truffle butter is? I know what it is, but I never put on no popcorn.
SPEAKER_00I'm his magical negro.
SPEAKER_01I gotta put him on and guide him through life. You never had truffle butter before? Yo. You see, we just used to call those, you know, big brother figures. Now niggas gotta exalt themselves. You start now. Clearly, I can be a magical negro because you gotta do a trick. Magical Negroes are supposed to cut white people. He was helping their marriage.
SPEAKER_00You're supposed to be an angel? Yeah, that was great. Yo, he tried to create one, that's for sure. Yeah, that's what he's on. That was wild. This man, yeah, and mind you, the preacher, he was wild in the movie. Who wrote that movie? I feel like that's uh that might be what's his name? The guy who wrote The Boys in the Hood.
SPEAKER_01John Singleton?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah, rest in peace.
SPEAKER_01We gotta do a John Singleton versus um Spike Lee.
SPEAKER_00I give it to John Singleton.
SPEAKER_01We gotta do that. Oh, actually, no. We gotta do it. We still have to do uh um a Ryan Coogler versus Jordan Peel. And then we have to do a Spike Lee versus Um John Singleton.
SPEAKER_00Who would you pick between Spike Lee and um John Singleton? If you had to pick one, who who do you think is a better you gotta give me some time.
SPEAKER_01Because Boys in the Hood is my favorite nigga movie of all time. No, it's not. It's not no, it's no it is. Juice. Because I I like Boys, and you know, Juice, I hate the West Coast. I was gonna say, you like this West Coast though? I hate the West Coast. Like I genuinely dislike them. But Boys in the Hood had Furious, man.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he that's a magical Negro moment. He was putting them kids on. Yeah. Yo, that was yo. Lawrence Fishburne is in my top three. He don't get enough credit. He does not get enough credit. I'm gonna tell you why. Why?
SPEAKER_01We gotta talk about the next pod.
SPEAKER_00Alright.
SPEAKER_01We gotta talk about the next one. I I'm gonna tell you why though.
SPEAKER_00Put it in the docket for sure. Because Lawrence Fishburn, I keep forgetting about him. Him, Blair Underwood. It's a couple Negroes. Chiwatley Edge Ofer does not get enough credit. These guys. I don't even know who that last two was.
SPEAKER_01I probably know my face.
SPEAKER_00You do know my face. Um he's Victor Sweet from Four Brothers.
SPEAKER_01Ah, okay. It's my man. It's a lot of it's a lot of really good black actors, but you know the problem with Hollywood, there's only one nigga at a time. Yeah, that's why they were like, oh, Jonathan Major's getting this one. It's the Aaron Pierre nigga about to get Michael B. Jordan about the paint. No, he's not. Because uh the lanterns. He slipped up.
SPEAKER_00Lanterns.
SPEAKER_01He slipped up.
SPEAKER_00It's coming. He slipped up because I think they know um they know his secret.
SPEAKER_01What are you talking about, bro?
SPEAKER_00That whole him dating Tiana Taylor was she was a beard. Are you implying something about him? Allegedly, I think. I don't know. You see, the thing is with certain especially in We have to end it episode.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, this is the same as the next five. Let's say it. Alright, alright. Um, guys, Cast and Crew, thank you so much. You know, vote. Let us know who maybe it's a tie. Who knows? Just vote.
