So um yeah, you know, looking into stuff like that, doing a lot of research on uh cameras and stuff like that, because um I'm probably gonna have to be the camera operator. But you actually told me that. Yeah, I went to school for that. You are I didn't I didn't know.

Two jobs, head potting, ministry work, fitness journey, all these things, you know, take a piece of you away. But you know, at the end of the day, like I said, the greats are spread thin as a part of the journey. So I just gotta get back on the horse and um finish this uh specific project that I've had in the works for a while now.

What were your thoughts on this episode? Okay, so first I want to take us through the episode a little bit. So we start right at the um the end of the battle, the gullet. Um we see uh Jace's body floating. Um then um we see other dragons show up. Yes. And that's um Of. Um what's the guy's name? I don't know these niggas' names. What's his dragon's name? Um, I don't remember his dragon's name. Uh ver Vermathor showed up, uh Silverwind showed up, and um Sea Smoke showed up. No, they names. They came, uh, they saw, they smoked. They they ended the battle pretty much. Yeah. And um then uh we got Jace's body of Bela. It doesn't show us how she acquired the body, but I think she was one that found it. Um they brought him back to Dragonstone. And this is one of the all-time she has two moments in this episode that I'm like, what do they give for um TV shows? Is Emmys? Emmys, yeah. To me, and I watch a lot of TV. I know exactly what scenes. She gotta get the Emmy. So it's two scenes that did it for me this episode. So they bring back uh Jace's body, and she does the mother thing so well. She can't believe it. And it's not that she can't believe it on a on my oh no, no way, not my son. It's literally, no, like Jace, what's going on, Jace? What'd you do? What what would you screw up now? And everybody in the room is like so confused. And you know who I thought had some balls on him? The nigga that locked it in there had the nerve to put his physical hands on her. And then she did something to me, because the jury's still out on what type of queen she's gonna be, but she did something to me that was really profound. What was that? She could have easily done the angry forget woman, man or woman, this angry person thing. Like, nah, this is your fault, dude. You deserve to die. But she didn't just blame him, she blamed everybody. She was just like, if I kill him, she's not wrong. All culpable. Y'all should y'all all committed treason. What's the point of just killing him then? I found that that was very regal, very queen king. Like I like that as a decision. I got a little pushback on it. No, that's fine. Um then uh we we get that that powerful scene of her being a mother. Um if I'm out of order here, you can just correct me whenever I'm wrong. Um, then we cut to the Riverlands and they're partying it up. They just beat the Lannisters. Yeah, they was getting to it. Yeah, they were singing songs, they were doing the Irish jig. My son Damon was singing with them. I didn't expect to see him. Yeah, he was with it. Uh now. They was they had a cipher going on. Yeah, they definitely had a cipher. So I did a little bit of um, because you know I'm a historian. I did a little bit of research on that time period. Obviously, this is a mythical version of it, but and it's not just that time period. Well, it's whatever. So music that we know it in modern times was a lot different back then. So that is a song, the cadence, the rhythm of that song is probably older than all those dudes there, right? But the lyrics are made up, right? So songs are just uh long, it's like oral history, kind of. So they all nobody knew the lyrics, but they all knew the lyrics, if you get what I'm saying. Because the rhythm of the song just gave them it's kind of like freestyling in a sense, but we all we've all heard this beat a million times. So anything we add to it, it comes with the rhythm of the song. I think that's pretty dope. Um, yeah, the song was dope, the dancer was dope, and then he gets the raven, the letter. And the letter was like, yo, Jace is the the prince. Crown prince. Crown prince is gone. And what was dope, as he's reading the letter, because we don't know Jace and Damon Damon's relationship. It's like a couple of times, it's the stepfather thing is tough. So a couple of times step uncle? That's that's his dad. There are bloods.

Yeah, but that's regular Targaryen. That's his stepdad. Yeah, it's his dad. But also what has to be observed is like, you know, and this is why like you have to have a good kind of callback memory when it comes to the show because you'll see significant moments. But Jace is definitely like that's like mom pops because there was a time where there was a scene between Eamon and Jayce about to fight.

Oh, I was gonna bring that up, yeah. And then no, no, you're good, you're good. Because uh there's I I have even another scene where he tried to do the stepfather thing, which was when um he was showing him uh using craxes. Like, this is how you get men to kneel. Because it was the whole thing of like, it was uh like uh who's gonna be loyal to who? And he this funny enough, I think it was the same guy that locked Renier in the thing. He got him and like a bunch of his cohorts and was like, yo, either y'all kneel or dragon fire. And if y'all decide to act, you can lie to me right now, but if y'all decide that, you know, you want to be sneaky or whatever, y'all will all die screaming. And he did it. I think Jace was trying to do it already, and then he kind of like cut in cut in front of Jace, like this is how I was done. I don't know how receptive Jace was to it, but like you're saying the scene that you brought up, which is uh I think that's all the way back in season one, when the strong, like when Eamon was taunting them for being strong, because Eamon could beat all of them up because he was bigger, he's more physical. He he went from being the runt to the like he grew up real fast. And then Damon stepped in. A quick little quick little uh uh and you know, but we were all waiting for that fight.

Yeah. At that time, by that time, um Renera and um and uh Damon had already like been married, so like there's he's now raising them. Exactly, yeah. You know what I mean? He stepped in, so yeah.

Yeah, so we when he gets the message, I found it. I don't know who the um director is, or even if it was the actors decided decided that, because right. You taught me that you know actors sometimes get to especially the better actors get more leeway, kind of like you know, sports. 100%. He looks in the face of the young Riverland kid. I think his name is Oscar, one of the tullies. He's he's a leader, but he's like a kid, just like how Jace is a kid, and he looks at him, and for a small moment, we see Damon like, yo, Jace is dead. Yeah, I'm looking at a Jace right now. The boys. These are boys. Yeah. And that was really well delivered, but no with no words. Yeah, he just looks because the kid asks him, like, hey, what's wrong? How did he know anything was wrong with Damon? Damon is a very like the this whole place will be on fire. I'm Damon. I'm cool, I'm the coolest guy in the world. So he he knew something was wrong. And he looks at him. And for a moment, it's like, these are boys. Yep. He flies to Rhineer's bedside. Reneer's in bed crying, and then he does what Damon does. Damon's swaggy dude, bro. He hits her with the prophecy in old Valerian or Valerian or whatever their language is with the yo, I seen the future. So girl with the dragons. I seen her. Why he had to mention that part though? Because he said that. Yeah, but why he had to mention that? He might like to say. He hits her with that. Um, he also soothes her with the reality of don't let the deaths go in vain.

And I hate I'm gonna tie it into like other things real quick. But like, it was one of those moments where she's a mother, she's a woman, she's very emotional. She just lost her son, a second time losing a son. Right? And she just like, I don't even I don't got the stomach for it. This is where the importance of what Damon is. Yes. I have to be a rudder. I have to balance out this emotion. You want to lay here and cry, but at the same time, she said it. The line, she delivered it great. I felt whoever wrote it, fired. These two boys who used to pull it my skirt, they're gone. This is the price for this throne of swords. He's like, listen, don't let it be in vain.

And also, I just gotta say, there was a there's a cut between that scene and a scene prior, and it goes to show you the levels of acting.

No, no, it's not a big scene, but it's just enough, and it it does give it context. But him and Renera's uh acting abilities, bar none, they're the top two. Yeah, yeah, easily. But also talent, I mean the way they work together. Actually, I gotta give Coralus his his flowers as well. Not just because he's a brother, but he actually has a very good regal. Like he he plays his character. No, no, he plays like there's no other sea snake ever. Yeah, like he killed it. But those two in that scene, phenomenal. They play off each other well. The reason why I say that, I can see the stark difference because a scene prior before he entered her chamber, he was talking to um the prostitute, who now was Renera's lover, slash counselor, who's very sneaky. Who was Damon's joint first? Who was Damon's joint first? To me, she's just whatever. You can say what you want, nah, you would get you a pass around to this day. Um, but they did their scene and there's a dryness to it. He's I could look, because he's looking at her from the corner of his eye. You could see he's trying to create the juices in that scene, but maybe that's her acting choice. But everything she was, it felt like when someone does a table read. Okay. Like when people just read the lines um from her point of view. You know, it felt like a rehearsal within that what would need to be. But anyway, back to your point. Great he had a great counter, and um I just loved when when those two on the screen together, it is magnetic.

Yeah. So um before that, because I skipped the scene, thank you for reminding me. Um, he actually has an interaction with um Olf and the other guy. I think his name is Hugh. Yeah, Hugh. Hugh Hugh Hammer. Yeah, Hugh Hammer and Olf the Olf the Dolph. So I love it. He runs into them two. Yeah. And he's like, what the fuck y'all niggas doing here? Yeah, he was like in more words, yeah. Is that who I think that is? I know that's not who I think that is. That's when he walked in. He was like, Why are these two niggas in my castle? Number one. Why are y'all here? Two bastards. And I think, I think um Damon gotta work on his people skills. No, he doesn't. He he absolutely doesn't. That was his brother's strong suit. He slapped this dude. You can't slap a nigga with a dragon. I have a dragon too. That's my point, though.

That is a dog whistle to Rhenira that Alison is keeping up her end of the party. And then they they uh they all dip out. We we catch up now with Well, he asked um the other bastard where's um Coralus' bastard, that's Alan, right? Adam. Adam, I keep mixing him up. Yeah, so he asked where Adam is at, and he's like, yo, he's uh he's at the gullet still. So we get we get to the gullet. Um Coralis is missing. We have a really dope moment between Bayla and her what's that? Her her grand uncle? Her uncle. Technically, yeah. Yeah, because Coralis is her grandfather. Grandsire. Yeah, grandsire. I like I I think we should start using some of these. Yeah, grandsire is way better than grandfather. Grandfire. Granddad or grandfather. So we're gonna we're gonna bring that back. Grandsire. Yeah, so they have a really good moment where Alan, this is Alan, is basically expressing how he doesn't know how to make of this Coralus situation. And he loves his father. She she basically breaks it down to him like, dog. Coralus had the type of woman that he couldn't have no basses around. He loved y'all, but sh my grandmother was who she is. I'm not saying you're wrong. I just don't think that's how what she was saying. That's that's how I interpreted it. Alright, cool. Now that you know she's gone out the picture, he can give you the love because it's not disrespectful to her. He never wants to disrespect her. I think that's what she was trying to convey. And then um they have that moment and he kind of like warms up. Now they all in a race to find um Coralus, and it's um my man on the uh Adam. He's you know, he's flying around. I think he spots him, right? Um they he finds him basically. Yeah. Because you see his body in it. Yeah, and we get we get we get Coralus back. He sitting, they're all on the beach. Yo, the shot is immaculate. I'm I might have that painted. I ain't gonna correct. I need that on the shirt. I need that on the shirt. Somewhere, somewhere. That was some black excellence. Yeah, it was definitely some super black excellence. And that was some black excellence. I have an argument with uh, and I'm I want to get him on the pod with uh my cousin about I don't want to speak for him, and I especially this is gonna be sound very like disparaging, but he doesn't believe, and he's gonna be able to correct me if I misquote him, that representation matters. He thinks it doesn't matter, he doesn't think it matters. I think that that scene was the perfect example of why representation matters. Because when you're a young, well, young kids shouldn't be watching the show to begin with, but when you're a younger adult and you're still figuring out your way in this world, or even the younger kids, like when you're 15, 16, and the only representation we have in media is thugs, gangbangers, crackheads, prostitutes. Yeah, it's it's a psychological thing. Permeating your support. Yeah, that hey, this is the and even if you understand that this is acting, when you go out to do your roles, I'm only gonna audition for the thug. I'm not gonna think I can audition for the guy that has the most money and the best fleets. Right. You know what I'm saying? I'm not gonna audition for the Dragon Rider. Oh man, this story of Valerians and you know, Targaryens. I can't be a Valerian, I can't be a Targaryen. Right. I can only be the guy that scrubs the bottom of the ship or the guy that's selling prostitutes and SOs. I can't be one of the main characters, and that just shows like it didn't it didn't break immersion because first of all, from the season one, they did a really good job of showing that a lot of people don't know that the Targaryens are not even that dope in Valeria. They're not the only family. Yeah, Valerians are the whole family.

When someone ex uh when someone shares that information with you or you see something that might be in a historical book, you're like, my mind can't even like fathom that. Yeah, like people will fight you on it. I remember there was an old show called Mystic Nights.

Yeah, and they would get these this armor and it was sick. So two things I noticed in that show. First of all, they had it was all white people, but then it was one black dude there, and he was royalty. Okay. He was a prince from another another uh land or whatever. One. And I think it was this, you know, Braxton from the Jamie Fox? Yes. He played that character, okay, which is interesting. Also, what I noticed that they gave him blue and gold as his colors, which is the same theme they gave the Valerian.

So this is a running like uh theme when they put you in the blue and certain colors. Um but the point is that we've seen this throughout film, they sprinkle it. They always show you, like, oh, we're gonna throw a black random black person and you're like, what are they doing here? If you're ignorant, you're gonna think that. They are showing you, and to that scene on the beach or just the Valerians in general, like one of my favorite scenes is when him, his children, his wife walk into the throne room and they have the music playing. I'm like, that is fire. Although, you know, he's with his white wife, whatever. But just to see a black man in that position opens your mind in a different way.

So beautiful uh uh album cover art on the beach. And um, you know, he's looking at uh what's his place called? Uh The Driftwood. Driftwood. Yeah, he's looking at Driftmark. Driftmark. And it's like up in flames. And then his wealth, man, that was tough. And then he's basically like saying, like, I don't really have nothing to give you. And you know, Alan. Alan? Yeah, Alan? Well, the problem, the main problem is uh Baylor's father is Damon. Okay. That's the X factor here with that family because they do have a dragon, sea smoke, and they do have Moon dancer. Yeah. The problem is Damon is her father. She's not gonna run out on that. That's the one connection that kind of ties her to this whole thing. Fair enough. Um and then her she has a sister too that she can't leave, who you get into.

Yeah, so thank you for bringing up Raina. So Raina now, she goes to the veil where she was supposed to be stationed, she's supposed to be there. The she it's actually a very smart tactic on her part. She goes to the veil and she's basically like, hey, the queen promised you dragon, she gave you dragons, but they're in eggs.

So I kind of knew where that was going. But I do like the way they they they showed the rapport between Damon and him because he hugged it. He hugged him. And you don't see Damon Durrell. Exactly. And that's what I'm like, alright, so this is this is like brotherhood. Like I trained you up, I made you him, and you held it down while I was going. And he was like, nah, he gave me this gold cloak, so I'm loyal to him. We were waiting for you to come back. Yeah, she's just running up telling people. Yeah, she should have been had this. Um, he's like, isn't that treason? She's like, depends on what you think is treason. It wasn't tactful at all. Whereas you could flesh it out a little bit, like, or even foreshadowing other things.
