You saw it? I wasn't paying attention. Okay. There's a lot of words there. Joseph's on there too.
SPEAKER_03Joseph's on there? Yeah. It's a dog that got. He's a detective. Why are you laughing? I'm not laughing.
SPEAKER_02I mean now you making me laugh.
SPEAKER_03I wasn't laughing. Quiet understand. Quiet understand. Welcome to another installment of that. Greatest podcast in the multiverse. We are the real talk podcast. I'm with my main man GR.
SPEAKER_02And I'm with the star of the show, AG.
SPEAKER_03I resent him. I'm actually a behind the camera kind of guy. I'm trying to do that.
SPEAKER_02Why are you resenting?
SPEAKER_03I'm an inspiring director. You would be the star. I don't know what he's trying to do here. He's trying to do this role reversal. Destiny Swap. I'm KD. Destiny Swap.
SPEAKER_02And you're Russell Westbrook.
SPEAKER_03Okay, I'm the star. Cool man. No. Kevin Drake was clear.
SPEAKER_02Nah, Russell Westbrook was a star.
SPEAKER_03I don't know what this guy's doing. I'm just trying to put my friend. I'm more like Rick Carlisle. Yo, Wildin. And you're drinking the whiskey. Nah. Because you're old. Got a ring, though. That's the point. Got one of the greatest rings in the world. Yeah. Star. Top three rings. Nah, top seven. Well, um, GR, I think I'll take the reins today. I'm feeling blue.
SPEAKER_02You're feeling blue? Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Oh, what are we talking about here? The Giants. I don't think we need to go there. Well, you know, go ahead. I gotta speak on it. Um I'm gonna go the political route. I blame Donald Trump. He he touched him with the cheese hand.
SPEAKER_02Same hand he used when he opened the door to go to the Knicks.
SPEAKER_03Was it game three? Yeah. Same hand, same power. Or I'm gonna go the dark way and say that the Knicks sacrificed the Jets, the Giants, the Yankees, the Rangers for your channel.
SPEAKER_02The Yankees are in the running.
SPEAKER_03I heard that they suck. You're wild. I don't watch baseball. But um, yeah, the Giants broke my heart. I thought we were gonna win the division.
SPEAKER_02Um What did I say a couple weeks ago? You're gonna win the Super Bowl. I said if the Giants, though, who's gonna go?
SPEAKER_03The Jets? No. Oh, the Cowboys. Cowgirls.
SPEAKER_02They gonna listen, they're gonna win a division. They're gonna pop out in the Super Bowl.
SPEAKER_03Nah.
SPEAKER_02I can't say for certain they're gonna win, but they're gonna show up there. Jerry Jones has just come up and is waiting for him.
SPEAKER_03That's why he was gonna be able to do it.
SPEAKER_02Because the world's almost done.
SPEAKER_03Still, let the Cowboys. The Mets might win. Spot on. Um, but yeah, uh Jackson Dart, his knee exploded. Um League Neighbors, shoulders hurt. Oh Del Beckham can't stop dancing. You know. He be going hard to phone it down. We need the ghost of Brandon Jacobs to get into Scatterboo. Make him a little bigger. Because I'm starting to realize he's kind of like a munchkin.
SPEAKER_02He tried to jump over somebody. I was like, what are you doing? Yo, did you catch the clip of him like tweaking out? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03He has like some kind of tourette. Nah, we have to like. But that's what I want for my running back. Um, I want him to be a little crazy. But uh, I still hold out hope. I still think we have a positive record, or we bottom out, we get Arch Manning. Either way, I'm cool either way.
unknownOoh.
SPEAKER_03The Manning. I don't see it. Oh no, he's starting to turn up this year. I don't watch it.
SPEAKER_02No, I'm saying I don't see him coming to the Giants. Like, you how we get rid of Dart Femme? He's gonna be a big backup. Yeah. Dart is mad young.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So a lot of young quarterbacks.
SPEAKER_02He might cry his way off the team. I don't want to start.
SPEAKER_03Nah. He knows better. If a manning shows up in town, he knows. He knows what to do. He just gotta be ready. Trading Dart? Trade I. Let Dart ball out and be like, yo. Give us seven first round picks. Seven is a lot. Seven is a lot. But um, yeah, I'm a little, I'm a little blue. I I understand. But the color that we all should be feeling. I don't know. You have any uh anything you want to talk about? You want to tell us about anything, but your shirt? The dog?
SPEAKER_02Oh, uh no, this is just a detective who passed away. He happened to be a canine unit, so Resting uh Rest in Power, young K9.
SPEAKER_03All dogs go to heaven, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, animals according to scripture, they just that was a movie first.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I know all dogs go to heaven.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's a good movie.
SPEAKER_03You didn't watch it. Earbud. What's the goat dog? Beethoven. Beethoven. Balto.
SPEAKER_02It's animated. I don't count. I'm talking about. All dogs go to heaven is animated. You're right. Actually, no, no, no, that's not that. That's not that Beethoven's up there, bro.
SPEAKER_03I don't like the live action dog shit. Why?
SPEAKER_02It doesn't look good. Earbud, what about that?
SPEAKER_03Awful. Every earbud movie sucks. Awful? Awful. Look who's talking? Teen Wolf sucks.
SPEAKER_02Teen Wolf is not an animal movie. That's just a regular white man.
SPEAKER_03You said it, not me.
SPEAKER_02He was a white man, was he not?
SPEAKER_03What about that movie that uh the dude turns into a uh leprechaun? What movie is it? It's a basketball movie, too. Luck of the Irish.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that was kind of freaky, actually. Yeah, you see what I'm saying? I don't like that live back. They did a lot of that because there was another one where he's he turned to a mermaid, a merman. He? Yeah, his mom was a mermaid. She put him on a boat, and then the father found him in the net, the stepfather, foster father. They raised him, and then he turned 13th year. He started getting little fins here and started turning into a merman. It was weird. Sounds like a Disney channel. And he went and swam off his mom. I just always think about that. Being a merh person, you know how vast the ocean is?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so I don't want to be in there. Yeah, that's scary.
SPEAKER_02I'm like, sorry, mom, I'm not. I don't like. Can you swim faster than a shark? What are we dealing with?
SPEAKER_03You stay at the coast.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, orca's, like, gonna be fine. Yeah, orca's is packing. Nah, Earth is easier. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, earbud and Beethoven. Balto. Balto? It wasn't even about a dog, it was about a wolf.
SPEAKER_03What about the sled dog movie with um Cuba Gooden Jr.? Snowdogs. Snowdogs. Listen, I know my films. Yeah, I'm going with it if I'm going live, man.
SPEAKER_02No, it's about the dog. Cuba Good and go. Cuba Gooding Jr. is a superstar actor. He's nice with it. He's weird, but what do you mean by superstar? He's a superstar. Talent-wise. Okay. His biggest mistake was radio. Okay. Don't go full. Don't go full retard. That's a real fact. Like from Tropic Thunder, he went full retard. You're never supposed to go full retard.
SPEAKER_03Nah, niggas come back from full retard. Jonathan Majors went full retard. In what movie? The muscular movie.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he went full retard. Nah, but he did it in a way that was like, he was still, he balanced it with like, I'm really just trying to be brolic out here. When you're full retard, you can't get back. There's gotta be another nigga that did full retard that came out. There is, but he's he's a top five actor. Who? And he did it when he was young. Who? Um Leonardo. DiCaprio. Okay. What's eating? Gilbert Great. Yeah, he definitely went for it. He went for it. But radio was, I'm talking about. He did one of those. It was bad. You remember that? Yes. I don't I like the movie. Why would you like about it?
SPEAKER_03It has it had um an oomph.
SPEAKER_00Oomph?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02What's another word for oomph?
SPEAKER_03I don't want to do it on camera.
SPEAKER_02Short boss, bro.
SPEAKER_03Short bus.
SPEAKER_02But nah, Leonardo, I mean not Leonardo, um, Cuba is he's actually a beast.
SPEAKER_03Remember his son is um Um Power Armor and um What's this dude's name in uh Fallout? Oh, that's his son? Maximus? That's his legit son. That's his son. You're lying. Nevertheless, baby. You're lying. Look it up.
SPEAKER_02You're lying. No way. I can see the resemblance. Stop playing with me. That's not his real son. How when was he born?
SPEAKER_03I don't know. I might have just made that up.
SPEAKER_02You definitely do.
SPEAKER_03I see the resemblance though.
SPEAKER_02And the quirkiness is there. You're wild.
SPEAKER_03Nah, it might be his son.
SPEAKER_02Nah, don't do this to me, son. I'll be mad happy about that because that's that's actual talent. He's actually good.
SPEAKER_03I think he has two sons. I think he one of his sons is a scream.
SPEAKER_02I know he has a brother. His brother was a good decent actor. He turned out to be kind of funny.
SPEAKER_03His brother had B for Cameron recently. Really? Yeah. Of what? In like a movie. Which movie? It was a I think Cameron had either Cameron paid him for a movie. They had a dispute over a movie role. What the survey says. I'm right? Okay. No, you're wrong. This yo, his kids don't even. Now one of his kids is in screen.
SPEAKER_00Sure, but these guys don't even. Mason Gooding and Spencer Gooding. Yeah, they're white. Come on. Which is fine. I mean, whatever.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I don't think I don't think I don't think his kid is in screen. I thought that was the son. Yo, yo, I see the response. Swinging a miss. Let me give myself a womp. Fake news. Yeah. This disinformation. Alright, um, let's get into it, man. Let's let's feel green. Let's go. Uh we have um episode six of lanterns to discuss. Tough.
SPEAKER_02Um, kind of tough. Go ahead. You can go first. I want to hear your uh take on this. So And don't mind me if I interrupt you. Well, of course you're not we rock. I'm a big interrupter.
SPEAKER_03No, so am I. Um so lanterns, episode six starts off with It was six or five? Six. Six. Six? Was it six? Yeah, we did four and five. Yeah, six. Um it starts off with a time jump, but it's a time jump back kind of because it starts off where it started. Yeah, it's kind of starts off where it started. Show starts in 2026. Yeah, that's where we are now. Yeah, now we're back. It's 2026. My man got the goatee, turtleneck. He's in New York City pitching his architectural genius. Genius, yeah. With uh the arc. Pay attention to that word. Um so he's building these uh after his trauma in uh Russville, Rushville, Rushville. Um, he's like, nah, this can't happen again on my watch. I'm gonna build these arcs. And it plays into um there uh being other superpowered beings. Yep, because we have what happened in Metropolis. He referenced it, right? Yep, and hey, we need these things, we need to be able to protect a whole city of people. And he's clearly doing well for himself financially. His younger brother, no, he's the youngest, but his one of his older brothers is there. The second oldest. Yeah, is there and he's helping him with the pitch, and everything goes peachy. And then the villain of the show calls him. Who's the villain? His mother.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. He calls her by a first name. Bernadette. I feel about that, yeah. Yeah, that show again it ties into what I said last week. He has mommy issues, and she he he's at the point. I'm pretty sure in that time jump, they were upset that he didn't take the ring. Absolutely. So his mom, he just has a bad relationship with her. She probably told me you're tripping, uh uh, whatever, but Bernadette calls him.
SPEAKER_03Yep. And then Bernadette proceeds to tell him that um Hal wants to apologize. I hated that. And he's like, Why are you in Hal? I hate speaking. Was there an innuendo there?
SPEAKER_02Something about that was nasty work to me, bro. I didn't like I felt like there was a little innuendo there. Yeah, I didn't like it. That was nasty.
SPEAKER_03Black woman, white dude. Or later on, we found the fathers in the fathers in the home kind of I don't like this, bro. And he's not that older than the mother, so I don't think it's a home for the elderly. I think it's an implication that it's a mental It's a mental thing. Well, you know, when we do it. It'd be an arkham asylum. I don't know, arc.
SPEAKER_02Oh, he had a gun in there. Like, how do you have a gun? Who knows? Yeah, that part was kind of a little unclear. Like, how do you get a gun in hand? He's shooting people out the window or something like that. But I didn't like that anywell. Like, why are you talking to Hal? You that lonely. Your man is in prison over stuff you was doing anyway.
SPEAKER_03But my man, John Stewart, high tails, drives all the way. I would have broke that man's nose. He drove, he drove all the way there, and Al Jordan had no idea what he was talking about. We did find out that Hal did 10 years in the in the Slammer federal prison.
SPEAKER_02Halp or a Hologram? Mmm. All of this now, this whole episode to me is is that Hal or a Hologram?
SPEAKER_03I have an even third caveat, but we'll get there. Let's go, go ahead. We'll get there. Um, so they sit down. I did want to ask you, do you think Jon Stewart bears any responsibility for what happened in Rushville?
SPEAKER_00Um, not really.
SPEAKER_02None. Um, I would say no because hold on. Because number one, Hal was the one who had his Halloween like, yo, you need to come back here. So he's just a trainee. Okay. He's not the one who said, let's go to Rushville. The worst thing he did was sleep with a man. Man hunter. Man. Not putting that on a brother. Um this is why I disagree with you. Hold on. I also want to say this. Like, this has become a theme too, because if you remember, I don't know if you remember what was it? It was Marvel, right? They did that show with the the aliens that'd be changing into Scrolls. Scrolls. What was what was Samuel Jackson doing? I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Remember his wife? Scroll. Scrolls, scrolls have genders though. Yeah, he'd make it. Nah, they have gender. Don't do that.
SPEAKER_02Let's forget the gender part. But this whole alien black man thing. Yeah. Nah, I'm out with it. What are they pushing on us? Like, what is it? Men in black. He didn't sleep with no aliens? Or did he? You sure? Nah, the white girl was right.
SPEAKER_03He didn't sleep with her. Rosario Dawson was a regular woman. He was pretty fly with the aliens, though. That was like his whole thing. He wasn't terrifying, he wasn't scared of aliens. He might be on screen. He was kind of comfortable with them. Why do they keep doing that? Michael Jackson was an alien. How do you figure out? No, he was.
SPEAKER_02Oh, and then men in black. Was it Arnold Schwarzenegger too?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think it was. And some teacher, he was like, Yeah, I knew someone was Mike, Mike actually, it's a little sidebar. Mike actually wanted to be in the Man in Black life. He wanted to be um Will Smith's character. He wanted to be the character? Yeah, he wanted to be in the movie. Come on. Like straight up. But he was, he had a cameo. Yeah, a little cameo, but that's that's what they that's why they gave him the cameo. Oh. But he wanted to be in the movie. He wanted to be Jay. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Nah. Nah, Mike. Mike was a nigga, though. Nah, Mike was, yeah, but Gary and yeah. But yeah, so this is why I think he does bear responsibility. Two reasons. He had the power to stop the manhunter. He knew who the manhunter was before he was. He was clapping cheeks. And he decided not to. What did he decide to do instead? He decided to, he fell in. That's what manhunters do. He fell in love with the manhunter? That's what they're seductive. They find the strongest. And I think this bothered uh Hal Jordan. Yeah, because he heard it. They found the strongest, they find the strongest, and she didn't choose him. Yeah. Showed Alpha.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Old wash white dude was like, damn, I didn't get nothing. But yeah, I definitely think that uh he he should have done some jail time. But again. Why would he be doing jail time though? Because they had they had to do jail time. What did he do that like for murdering her? Well, yeah, he committed murder. Alright, cool, yeah. But there was like a the town got destroyed on your watch. On his watch? How is he responsible? He's not the Green Lantern. He's a trainee. He's not the Green Lantern. You're going on a ride along. Yeah. And the cop. You already know. That blink. I didn't know. But go ahead. I'm human you. And like and your partner, the cop. He starts like assassinating people. And you just let that happen. You have to sit in front of a jury. Alright, so I start telling him, like, yo, you're wild and look.
SPEAKER_02The first person he goes, bong. And he jumps out of the car and tries to kill me. Yeah. And I kill this person who's clearly the problem. Yeah, but they this is America. I don't think I don't think John really has a lot to do with it. I think that because he's associated with 70-30. And he killed her because she was helping the town, and the town people love her. Nah, she wasn't helping the town. Yeah, she was. Remember, no one was sick. Oh no, yeah.
SPEAKER_03She was helping the town.
SPEAKER_02The town people love her. But she was the one that was destroying the town. That's the part that I don't understand. Like, why you tell me the Green Lantern's doing this? Y'all know she has a remote and she's just burnt. Anyway. I don't think John is responsible.
SPEAKER_03I think it's 70-30. I think uh I think Hal definitely um took the jail time, which because he's a stand-up dude, but I don't think John Stewart was like he kind of like He owes John John's life.
SPEAKER_02Manhunter was there about to smoke him, and he was like, yo, he's not dead. He turned around. She turned around.
SPEAKER_03Or was he just doing his mission? Who? John?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Was he saving his life? So the town dies, but I I completed my mission. He had to fight Hal to get the ring. Okay. In that room. He could have he could have killed the Manhunter like 10 episodes ago. That part. And then nobody. And then nobody. Now you got me. Nobody died. 70-30. That's all I'm saying. He decided to get some. Yeah, if I do 10 years for you, you could have done. I was maimed. Yeah, but you could have done two years. I was maimed. And I took all 10. I didn't mention your name. We got jammed up. I did not mention your name. You could have thanked me. Listen, you took the 10 years?
SPEAKER_02Yes. If it wasn't for the manhunter, Jon Stewart would look like spawn right now. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03You remember how bad that was? Yeah. So no, no, no. I think I honestly think um Hal owes John. He still owes me. He still owes him. He tried to kill me twice. Yes. No, no. I'm not counting that one. I'm not counting any of them. He didn't try to kill him any of those times. He tried to cry, he crashed the car and left him there. Yeah, but that was not to die.
SPEAKER_02I don't think he was there to die, but either way, like it was fouled. If I say, yo, I'm gonna shoot you in your stomach and you'll be. That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_03That's how you walk around with a cosmetology bat bag. If I shoot you in your stomach, I'm like, you'll live. You start dying.
SPEAKER_02You start shit dying me?
SPEAKER_03Nah.
SPEAKER_02Nah, that's it. We gotta beef out. Exactly. You're gonna crash the car and I'm in there stuck in this burning. It wasn't burning. It started to burn me.
SPEAKER_03He didn't, he left.
SPEAKER_02He left that man.
SPEAKER_03You know who actually let him burn? Who? The man of the Shiva. He watched him. Thank you. Took some of his DNA. But I um yeah. So they get into their little uh I'm not apologizing, I don't even know why you're here. Uh your mom, blah, blah, blah. He punches him. And I think this is a part of Hal Jordan's plan. I think he has a plan. I think that was a hologram. 100% is a plan. I I think he planned to get punched in the face because that he knew he was gonna die. That keeps um John there because he's technically not an accomplice, but he's um what's the word I'm looking for? When you're uh he's a suspect. Because you were the last person that saw me. But and you assaulted me.
SPEAKER_02He saw it, he said, like, don't let anyone know that you saw me here. So he didn't want anyone to know it was him that he that they even met. I don't think he wants him to be a suspect.
SPEAKER_03I think he just wanted to keep I think he wants him to do an investigation. Right. Because for as much as we saw their turbulent relationship, he did tell his Halligan that he liked them. Yeah. He told him, like, I like him.
SPEAKER_02What do you think the overall like goal is with Hal? What do you think his goal is? What is he trying to accomplish if he's a character?
SPEAKER_03No, I'm talking about that he knows that there's another manhunter and it's the boy. And that's what got him killed. Um Noah. Yeah, and that's what got him killed. And I'm gonna give you the reasons why I think Noah's a manhunter. Manhunter's default programming per the show is survival. That's why she killed Advan Seur. Well, yeah, but no, no, it's not conquest. It's survival.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_03Because that's why she killed Admin Sear. Was she that he saved her, brought her to a planet that has no Green Lantern, no no nobody's gonna even nobody's gonna even succeed. You have no issues here. And her nature was nah, I gotta get rid of him. He's losing. So I think Zoe sacrificed herself to protect Noah. To protect Noah. So Noah's a child. Noah is her child. And he's a manhunter. See it. He's a manhunter. And he's kind of weird. Yo, his dad got beat up. Yeah. And his response to that was so like manhunter-ish. I he wants to get what? What teenager you know wants to become a politician? If you were gonna I think that's the key there. If you were gonna take over a planet, you would immediately go to the White House.
SPEAKER_02And remember it's always said to him before he left. Remember what I told you.
SPEAKER_03God taught you everything, whatever, yeah. Yeah. I think John No no. I think Hal knows that hey, there's another man hunter here. I believe it's a young man, and I only trust one person to solve it. No one might have killed him. I think no one killed him.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he was too chill and he loves John, and he's very like, you know, I'm just a good yeah.
SPEAKER_03Now, how do you feel about Carrie?
SPEAKER_00The sheriff, yeah. Does she know her son is a man hunter? I'm going with you. It's possible. I'm also gonna go out on a limb here to say that they're accomplices.
SPEAKER_03Who, the entire the Macon family? No, her specifically and the boy are in cahoots. I can see that. She's trying to speed up this whole hey, we're gonna put him in the ground. No, obviously uh Jon Stewart is helping. She might be trying to seduce John on the low. I don't I to a degree because the Stanley dynamics.
SPEAKER_02Just to have dinner with us, bring bear, sleep on my couch.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, just to get him off the the scent of hey, there's some funny business going on. Yeah. I think she just wants us to like if I'm kicking him out of town, it looks sus. Right. And if I'm not being warm and hey, my the guy that I've been messing around with just died, I'm gonna look sus. She's a cop. So she knows what it she even said to him, I I'm probably your prime suspect. And he was just like, nah, like you're not. She's trying to probe him. Yeah. He's thinking. He was like, nah, you're you can't fake crying. Yeah. Because I do think she actually cried. I think she actually is upset that he's dead, but she's gonna choose her child over her man. And I think she knows that dude killed him. Another reason why I think he's a manhunter. I think he's all state quarterback. Yeah, he's nice with it? Yeah. Oh, that's right. He was stolen the hat ceremony. Yeah. The whole town is invested in this kid. Who else was invested in like that? Zoe.
SPEAKER_00Zoe and Macon. The Macon family. The Macon family running.
SPEAKER_03I like the way you think. Let's talk about my guy Guy Gardner, though. This guy, I already don't like him. You're not bull cut. Not supposed to. That's this character. Now. I was an athletic director. Jim Teacher. I love how the bond of Hal and John were shitting on dude. Like they they bonded over shitting on Guy Gardner. Oh, yeah. Yeah. That that was that was dope.
SPEAKER_02Out of all three of them, he's definitely the like your last choice for you.
SPEAKER_03I want to see how he got the ring. Because it's funny, and this is where this is the balancing art of adaptations are. Because in the comic, as you can tell by the bowl cut, he would not be the Green Lantern that was so pro Company. Company. Yeah. He's not the company guy. He's the he is more like um Hal Jordan in the like Hal Jordan. No, he's more like John. John is turning into the company guy. Yeah. But he he gave that up clearly. He was just like, nah, I don't even want to be the Lancer anymore. Y'all ruined this. Yeah, they tried to like literally. Yeah, they literally wanted him to be the company man. They found their company man in a guy that has a bowl cut and who was a gym teacher. How did he get the ring? Very so I need to. We have two episodes left. Two, that's it? Mm-hmm. Dang. This is modern TV.
SPEAKER_02This guy's like in a short season. Yeah. It's been good though. I ain't gonna front.
SPEAKER_03They you they used him to um mention Batman. Yes. They were like, they made fun of his lantern thing. They were like, yeah, he stole that from the Bat guy. Yeah. Another mention of Batman. Love that.
SPEAKER_02Um was there a little hint of racism when those guys showed up when they saw John there?
SPEAKER_03Oh, there did you not see the reparations conversation? Alright, cool. There was a what I love about lanterns. Maybe keeping it above. They are not running from no smoke. We're having the black family dynamic. He he dropping N-bombs. He was talking to his brother who's a rapper. He's like, go pick up dad.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, his brother was front was wild, too.
SPEAKER_03Yo, I'm I'm funding your your rap career. How old is that nigga? If he's 30 something, because remember, this is 2026. Yeah, he's the baby. Yeah. That nigga is 40. 40, sure. Yeah, rap career.
SPEAKER_0240%. That's who that is. I envisioned him from Daddy's Little Girls. I was like, that's your brother, son? This guy's crazy. Go pick up my father, man.
SPEAKER_03So this show is not ducking nothing. And that's what makes it good. But thank thank you for mentioning uh the racial overtones. Those white boys really thought it was gonna be the merino. Because it was a bunch of them. And you know what that did? Yo, this show is so dope. You know what that did for me too? What? Because we thought Macon Jr. was a man a manhunter too. He's not a manhunter. I never thought he was. He dispatched him. I never thought he was. He was a regular. I thought he was because they were protecting him.
SPEAKER_02He's what you call a beard. Whoa. You know what I mean. No, I think he's just the cover. Oh, okay. No, no, because they they're protecting the game. Yeah, like a manhunter type of thing. You gotta marry the lawyer because he's a lawyer in the town.
SPEAKER_03He's a high you use him to your advantage. That's technically do uh Noah's the manhunt manhunter junior, allegedly his dad. Remember? Zoe and Macon are the grandparents. That's his grandma.
SPEAKER_02I think that um Indian grandma. I think that the manhunter either turned into what's her name? The sheriff. And I don't know. This somewhere along the line, she had to actually get impregnated to bring if Noah's a manhunter.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So I want to hear what do you think is going on? And why is why is uh outside of another and I'm gonna let you go. I'm so sorry.
SPEAKER_01Don't be sorry.
SPEAKER_03Another thing that was so dope about Hal's character is that after he did his 10 years, he came back and started being a hero and he he was still being a hero. Yeah, trying to make good. I think that is such a dope character for because we all thought once he lost the ring, he was nobody, but that was the quality. No, he's just a hero. He really is and I and I and I really enjoy that about his character. And a lot of people, a lot of comic book fans hate this version of Hal Jordan because this is not the Hal Jordan that we're used to in the comic book. Um, but I I like it.
SPEAKER_02This adds more depth to my.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely. Um I want to ask you, what do you think is going on in this in the town?
SPEAKER_02Uh well this ties back to um our conversation in pre-production when it comes to Hal, real quick. But yeah, it's all about redemption. I love that. He did his 10 years, he did time, and he came back and tried to make good. Making amends is very important. People like to believe in you can do wrong and be like, oh, I'm sorry. No, no, that's it. Doing doing right to fix it is very important. Um in the town. What's going on? Why is he here? Why is he in Russell again? How? I think it's the manhunter. You think it's the manhunter, yeah. Something else still amiss. Um, I think it is definitely between Noah and uh his mother for sure. Because again, uh she's inviting John in to like yo, Steeple, stay on my couch, um, have dinner with us, bring bear. She's uh doing a lot of that. It's like you don't have a reason to she's trying to say like because you're someone who also, you know, liked um Hal, so yeah, let's but that's that's actually a seductive um tactic, sure. You bond over some sorrow and all of a sudden you're all in bed together. So give me your rankings of Possible Manhunter. She's number one for you? No, she's um number two for me. I think that it's um definitely Noah. His demeanor, the way they at least told, or maybe the way the actor is portraying, he's very like perfect. Like um, yeah, no, he's not a teen, he don't feel like a teenage. He's like, it's very like he even showed up to the house to go see um John at the end. Um what he brought up a food or something like that? Yeah, yeah, it's he's trying to, it's like you're watching him. I'm low-key watching you and they're connecting, and um John is telling, like, don't do whatever you want to do rather than like you know, trying to live for what other people's expectations for you are. Which is a call back to his lifestyle, but how he grew up. It's almost like they both were being groomed. Exactly. And he recognized that again. There's a parallel. But um, a little swerve to the side with um John in this uh this entire episode. Um someone asks, Are you happy? He's like, Yeah, I think that's a complete lie. His mom, he's he's in bad terms with his mom.
SPEAKER_03He's calling her by her first name.
SPEAKER_02He's calling the black mom by her first name. That's sacrilege, but something his father, who he loves, still calls dad, is you know, mentally incapacitated, or at least can't defend for himself. He has a young brother he's running a business with, and that went under in the last part, um, the last uh segment of the episode. How do you you didn't feel like that was racial too? No, I think that the tone the words that he used were a call back to how John was moving throughout the episode. He said, You he you're unworthy of his time. That's what he said. You're unworthy of my time. I think that speaks to the fact that he took the ring the way he did, went through things the way he did. Um even when he was in the the cafe with hologram, according to me, allegedly. Um the hologram was like, When did you since when did you start cursing so much? So John has changed. Even when he went to dinner and she was like, Oh, I make the best meatloaf. He's like, she's like, Oh, I forgot your meat. He's like, uh I eat meat now.
SPEAKER_03I eat meat now, Paul. He didn't play in St. Paul.
SPEAKER_02He didn't say Paul. Not from New York.
SPEAKER_03Not from Gotham.
SPEAKER_02Where's he from? Um, some stupid Pleasantville, something like that. Yeah, but anyway, uh, he's not definitely not from New York. But um, yeah, he says he uh he consumes um animal flesh now, so he's changed a lot. And I think that not being the Green Lantern and not becoming what he's supposed to be or wanted to be has his benefits. He's become a major architect.
SPEAKER_03I like this version of him better.
SPEAKER_02It makes him almost like an anti-hero, which I like for sure too. It's like he's not the Boy Scout anymore. It's like he's done some manipulating to get that ring. He manipulated another Green Lantern to go in and get it. Light work. And then told the girl, nah, don't burn him. Let's bury him. Light work. Then went back, dug it up. Light work. Got the ring in like, oh word, oh, zero power.
SPEAKER_01Cling.
SPEAKER_02Five percent. I learned that trick for himself. Now I'm gonna go back and get that box and use the actual halograms to open it up. What's in there? What's in there? I think there's a lantern, I think there's also a pocket universe or something like that where he hides a lot of his stuff. I think that um all the answers are there. Also, peep that they said Sinestral guy. I was just about to say, my man, he's about to start the Yellow Lantern quote. Parallax is on the way. So I think the ultimate goal is to go against the Guardians. And um, the choice is gonna be John's whether he helps them or not. The Guardians are looking real wicked right now. I think even if we find out that Noah is in fact the manhunter, the goal is to go against the Guardians. So they got Guy Gardner. He's the problem. I think there's gonna be a showdown between him and John. And I think John is gonna be able to get the thing. Two rings on the board, right? There's two rings on the board. Yeah. Wanna see? We're gonna see John pop out and show them.
SPEAKER_03Yo, John versus Guy Gardner will be a very interesting fight. Yeah, because the best um constructs versus the most unique constructs, the most versatile, the most creative. Why would this guy create like just the spectacle of that would be amazing. And if they do it right. I was gonna say they can't do it on TV. The budget's too small. It's the reason why Hal's constructs kind of suck. Yeah, all he does is make bubbles, but they did such a genius thing with that though. What? Because it's within his character. They gave us the fact that he's very like, he treats the ring like a gun. Like, I don't use this unless I have to. True. That was his whole thing. Was like, I this is a very simple tool, but I do not, I don't just use it willy-nilly where you have guys different. Guy Gardner's using the ring to do like because we we found we saw him in the Superman movie. Yeah. Bicker budget. So this is the trick of from a writing standpoint. How do I, in a budget standpoint, what do I do to make this guy's constructs? I know I don't have the budget to use them. What do I do? Oh, he's he's he don't he's gunshot. He's very I don't need the yeah, I don't need to he even mentioned it. He was like, tell the new guy that his his shit is is too green. Even that, like, it shows you how he looks at it. And why is his ring always dead? Because he's like, I don't charge this thing because I'm not using it all the time. Yeah, he's not dependent on it. Nah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he's a right, he's uh that's a well-written character that he um he actually does a lot of groundwork.
SPEAKER_03Yo, this guy is a hero. Yeah, yeah. Like he would have been a hero without the ring guy from uh Wolf of Wall Street. It he is exactly who he is. Yeah, just with a ring now. With a ring now, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Very, very good. This show is brilliant, man. It is, they've done a phenomenal job. Um, the casting. Uh I think the parent, the the parents kind of the mom is weak specifically. Acting? Not necessarily acting. I just don't think she doesn't give that um even I don't know, even the voice is on the phone, her voice still sounds really young. Okay. Like, yo, did she age at all? Y'all gotta like either I don't know, they gotta fix that.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm. Okay.
SPEAKER_02And her acting wasn't bad, but it wasn't overly convincing either. Got another thing to torture. No, it's fine.
SPEAKER_03It's a black woman, you had to target her. No, once I heard that hell stuff. Divesting. Not my attention. Alright, let me talk to you about the the white woman in the room. Which one? And the white girl, the one that he gave the watch to ten years ago. Oh, the little girl. Nah, she's blackmailing him.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, she's tripping, but I'm not gonna.
SPEAKER_03Hitting with the reparations talk. We're not racist. But I need more reparations. Would you think um her? They're clearly building her character up to do something.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he was. You know what I realized too about John, he this guy likes old women. She was winking at him. He said, Where's your mom? I like some crays. John is a weirdo. And you know what? Guy Gardner called him out. He did? Yeah, he was like, What did he say? Like, um, he said something along the lines of like, oh, you think I'm some kind of weirdo? He's like, I'm something I gotta say.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no, he definitely said something that was like what in a weird, like you think I'm a weird guy like that? Like I'll dig up his body, and he was just like, I just I'm just I I basically I'm I'm gonna figure out that you are. Yeah, yeah. He's on to you. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm telling you. Yeah, nah. And I think this is why DC is in a very I hope they James Gunn. Do not fumble at the goal line, bro. Do not, you on the one yard line right now. You got you got something here. They're gonna throw a pass. Don't do it. Pete Carroll. Hand the ball off. You have beast mode, ride this guy. Pause. Russell Wilson. So don't blame Russell Wilson. Russell Wilson had the choice. He did, but he did what he's paid to do. Listen to this coach. Um, do the guardians this world that they're building is so grounded, but the Green Lantern's Corps is a galactic thing. That's the genius, is that you they kept it within. We still in the same place. Russia. The only city they added was New York.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, or whatever. It's some other yeah, yeah. The equivalent of New York.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they mentioned Metropolis. No, he was literally in New York. He said it, which is I don't know. No, no, it's a different town. You 100% sure about that? Yeah. Pretty sure he said New York, but you might be right. Um you might be right. But we we're in the same setting still. Yeah, it's just the time has changed. They didn't rebuild the motel. I just think that they're doing a lot, and they already announced the Man of Tomorrow movie, and we already know that uh John Stewart's gonna be in there, but we don't know what happens at the end of this first season. You gotta pack up Gardner. I think him and Gardner fight. No, I'm lying. This is what I think happens. John gets two rings. I know that he don't he don't need no two r you don't even need a ring. We'll get there later. John? Get there later. Um I think that they're they have to fight a common evil, and it's gonna be Sinestro. Oh yeah. And then that either the Halogram or Hal is not dead, and he corrupts Hal. And Hal becomes either the parallax or just a part of the Yellow Lantern, and then Guy and um John have to redeem Hal. I can see that. But I think the season ends with the the big bad for season two being Sinestro. I think Sinestro I think they start to fight, uh John and Guy, and then Sinestra, they're like, whoa. There's a bigger person. We gotta deal with this guy. It's really all the guys. Because the guy that beat him is gone.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_03Because that that we don't it's an off-screen feat, but Hal is Hal beat another Green Lantern. Like he beat his superior because trained him. Yeah, Sinestro is his superior. And he beat him. Spanked him. With no help by himself. So he kind of knows what he's doing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So I want to see how that uh breaks out. Because who's gonna beat Sinestro again? So you think Hal's dead is alive. I think Hal's alive. We're on the same page about that. I think he's dead. You think he's dead? I think they're gonna I think what they're gonna do is he's gonna be a force ghost for the rest of his life. Wow. I think he's just gonna be um like John's conscience, his his uh, his uh Siri, his uh Jarvis.
SPEAKER_02There were some inconsistencies with the way Hal was like even dealing with John. The fact that he didn't know what he was talking about when it comes to talking to the mother means that the person he met in that in that uh cafe and who had a broken nose couldn't have been Hal because the mom's like, I've been talking to him the whole time. And Hologram's like I don't know what you're talking about. He could have been just goading him. Then he also goes, When is since when do you curse so much? But we saw in the few past few episodes you had that British curse. So Hal knows he curses, they was cursing each other the whole time. That halogram is probably pre that and was like, when do you start cursing like this?
SPEAKER_03Those these are little hints that I feel like I hope you're right because it's gonna break my heart that they're gonna waste Okay, so phenomenal character for my generation, Jon Stewart is a Green Lantern because that's the animated series. Okay, for the comic book guys, like the historical DC guys, it's Hal. Yeah, and then for the new school, the strongest Green Lantern is Cal Ragnar Ray Raynor, Cal Rayner. He's the strong, he he wields all of them. He mastered all of them, he becomes a white lantern. He masters all of them. The white lantern. Yeah, that's the power of life. So he that's when you can control all the emotional spectrum, you get that. It's life because that's what makes life all of them. What happens if you have a black lantern? That's death. There's a black lantern. It's death. Yo, lantern has a lot of like, it's there's a lot going on. It's a lot. I'm not interested. It's cool, bro. I'm just gonna stay with Lantern. All right, let me give you this one guy. The orange one is greed, right? Yeah. It's one guy, and he absorbed, he's greedy, so he absorbed all the other users into his ring. So they're all just in his ring. Like, his name is like LaFriese.
SPEAKER_02This is always we've we've already had this conversation, so I'm not gonna go down the path again. But this is where DC just stop.
SPEAKER_03DC's I love these. I love both. I love both. I really like this. Yeah, literally, he's so greedy he just took all their powers. Like, nah, you guys all here. You guys are all with me. This is my core. That's crazy. It's my team, bro. All like stuff like this. In his ring. Is he powered by greed? Yeah. One guy. All right. One guy. Oh, there's whole teams, right?
SPEAKER_02He should get his nose broken and shit.
SPEAKER_03That's you're gonna put him in a ring.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, come here, come here.
SPEAKER_03Take this ring. Oh, yeah, come here. Yeah. That's crazy. Team Orange. Team Orange. Yeah. So it's gonna suck for the comic fans, because I'm both. But I didn't the Green Lancer's not that cool of a guy, so I didn't really care about his comics. The anime series, the Justice League. Oh, yeah, I remember that. That's what I think. That's Jon Stewart.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So Jon Stewart's gonna be our Green Lancer for this universe. Yeah. But you can't you can't send off Hal Jordan on a TV show.
SPEAKER_02No, of course not. He's not dead.
SPEAKER_03If he's gone, he gotta die in the he gotta take Sinestro's whole team with him and die that way. Yeah. And like on the big screen so we can see him in all his glory. And I think that's the reason they brought Sinestro back so we can see the fight. Yeah. Because we have it happened off screen. Like nobody wants that. So that's the only reason why I hope you're right. But something tells me that this is a double fake out. He's actually dead.
unknownNah.
SPEAKER_03And this Halogram thing is he's just the way to use the actor forever is that he's just uh an AI. That he he he like he jailbroke his ring, so now he lives on forever in the ring. Now, let's just get a little spoilery, a little comic bookie.
SPEAKER_02You're spoiling stuff?
SPEAKER_03This look I don't know if it's gonna happen.
SPEAKER_02Yo, while you know why you don't like when people spoil stuff, yeah, but it's not a real spoiler.
SPEAKER_03This is a spoiler if you're gonna read it in the 90s comics. I feel like it's a spoiler. Because you just want to torment me. No, I want revenge. Go ahead. Um, so there's this character in DC comics called a Spectre. He's like a um He's like a dead he yeah, he's like I don't know how to describe the Spectre is like one of these, like you know how Marvel has like the Eternals, those type of characters, like they're they're part of the fabric of the universe. Yeah, so the Spectre is like that. Okay, and John becomes the Spectre at one point. I mean, Hal, sorry, Hal becomes a Spectre at one point. So I think that that could be that too, but to me, that's super comic boogie. Yeah, I don't know how the general public is gonna be like, wait, so he's another superhero character now? Because it's it's a different entity. So and then through being the specter, he gets reborn as the Green Lantern all over again. Because you he has to be a Green Lantern. So I could see them doing that, but again, that's a little bit far. Is he reborn as Hal? Yeah, he comes back as his regular self. Oh, like after going through the being the Spectre. Is he a baby or like no no no? He's back, like oh shit, how's that? Yeah, he's just alive again. That was their way of kind of like reconning the character, like bringing him back. So that that that could be that you like that? I don't hate it. It's better than timey whimey stuff. This is that dragon. But I don't hate it. People can't die forever. Yeah, I mean he'll be back, don't be. So the only person in Marvel and comics that dies forever is Uncle Ben. Why they did him dirty like that? Because Spider-Man's life has to suck. That's the rule of Spider-Man. His life has to suck. That's how it goes. Um yeah, he's the only nigga that stays dead in Marvel, right? Everyone else comes back. Everybody else comes back. And don't do that. Naruto did that same shit. Kakashi was supposed to be dead. The only nigga that don't come back in Naruto is Jurah. What up? What are you talking about? Everybody came back.
SPEAKER_02Um, yeah, but that's because you know they had an actual guy who could bring people back to life. So why so why did they wait that long to use it? What do you mean? He had the power to kill it and bring people back to life. We knew that already. Yeah, but he had the greatest jutsu. Yeah. And it only happened once. No, it happened twice. No, it happened once. No, it happened. That one's a reanimation, it's not the same thing. Yeah, whatever, bro. You know they're not really alive. You kill the user, they're dead. Yeah, but my man Kakashi. These guys be really back, like, yo, I'm back. Yeah. Goku's really back. Goku's not afraid of death. And neither is Hal, apparently. So I'm about to be inspected. I got a new job, and I'll be back.
SPEAKER_03But he they don't know that that's gonna happen to them, though. They don't know. That's the point. My name is Parallax now.
SPEAKER_02Now my name is he didn't die. Now my name is Hal again. Nah, bro. Come on. It's comic. Death has to be final sometimes. Not in comics, dog. It never happens unless your name's Uncle Ben. Remember that. They o D don't put Uncle Ben, though.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, shout out Uncle Ben.
SPEAKER_02Uncle Ben was a good a good man raising someone else's kid.
SPEAKER_03There's one comic that uh he stays alive and it it ruins like the lore.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Wasn't it like his parents into uh part of some kind of special league? Or Peter Parker's I'm talking about.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, nah, this is uh this they actually the modern Spider-Man run, not gonna be. They they ruined it. They made it like um they did this thing called Spider Totems, where they made it that Peter Parker was always destined to be Spider-Man.
SPEAKER_02Yes, whack.
SPEAKER_03Whack.
SPEAKER_02That was whack. And that's a part of um why the amazing Spider-Man um didn't hit the same because you know they we start to look into his parents' past and go like, oh, they were a part of this, and he's made he set up that only his DNA could be compatible. And that's what I was like, all right. See, that's what killed Spider-Man. Spider-Man's just supposed to be happensafe, and he's just a hero.
SPEAKER_03He's just a smart kid, lost his parents, and oh snap, I got powers. Yep. But yeah, so back to um Rushville. Um I think we uh we got everything.
SPEAKER_02I don't think there's anything else in the episode that we got Sinestro, we got Batman mentioned. He definitely packed those guys up by the Green Lantern light and then walked off with a turtle night, went and had dinner all chill with that man's ex-wife.
SPEAKER_03He's a marine, he's a marine. Like, that's the white superiority complex.
SPEAKER_02Dog, he's a marine. You a lawyer. And you know what's funny, like, and I this is good acting because like when John was standing, he didn't even flinch, right? They didn't move. They had they do this good two shot. And um, what's the husband's name? Macon Jr. Yep, that's what I call him. Shifts his body like, okay, well, we're gonna have to do something, whatever he was doing. And you could tell it's like you deep down, one-on-one, no, you can't get your ass. You can't do nothing with this guy. He's standing over you on some like Escanore looking down on Meliotis' brother, looking down on him like, yo, you're mad little, and you shifted your body, shows you're fearful. And then you I think he swung first, maybe. Yeah, it's just like yeah, all of them. And it was like, why would you but that shows you again this is why what you're saying is correct. The show is amazing because it's like, why would you think that you could deal with him? You know what you are, you're a lawyer. This man, like you say, he's a bad man. I'm white and I'm right. And he was supposed to be the Green Lantern, and you think that you can really do that, you think that's gonna work.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And they would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for the meddling cage. One thing Zoe said that she was correct. Uh huh. If a lantern dies here, that's why she wanted Hal to leave, not die here. If a lantern dies here, there's gonna be more lanterns here. Hal die. I mean, yeah, Hal died. Now there's two lanterns here.
SPEAKER_02So John counts as a lantern? He has a ring. He does now. That was very craftily played, too. Oh, we should burn him. Nah, let's bury him. Nah, he's he's then he went and got to turn the light on to get Hal to the garden. Oh no, I was just turning off a fun. I have another theory. You're not gonna like this. This is why they said he was unworthy, but go ahead.
SPEAKER_03You're saying he's getting more manipulative. He's in a dark place. Does does he did he not get some of the manhunter DNA in his eye? He did. He also got some of it somewhere else, too. I wasn't gonna go that far. I was already there. I was already that far. Do you think um he has a little manhunter in him?
SPEAKER_02You think that's how it works? I think that I hope not. The manhunter was manipulating him because she let him burn and then was like, Let me fix you. And I got some of your DNA and we have some of mine. He did change after that too. He was less interested in being Green Land.
SPEAKER_03He was walking on glass when. He didn't put no shoes on.
SPEAKER_02Right. He's walking through Mad Rubble and no shoes.
SPEAKER_03He might have a little uh Manhunter on him.
SPEAKER_02But I don't like that. But I don't think that's how that works. I don't I don't I don't want that to work like that. Because that she did that for the whole town. She did that for Macon. And Omegan was he become loyal to her. No, I don't think that's how that works. No, I I hope not, because I don't want John to be okay. I think he's in that frame of thought because of how deep down unhappy he is with everything going on. Sure, you're making lots of money, doing your thing, but you want to be Green Lantern. So he's wrestling with the idea of do I want to be a Green Lantern or is I'm or am I doing this just because my parents wanted me to be a Green Lantern. So now, after all the the 10 years, he actually wants to be a Green Lantern.
SPEAKER_03I got one last observation and I want to see how you feel about it. You got two more. For him to charge the ring when he eventually opens it with a halogram, yeah, and he gets the lantern out, he has to recite the oath. If he recites the oath while holding the ring, he's the Green Lantern. So you have two Green Lanterns, which is fire.
SPEAKER_02How does uh the Guardians feel about that? I think they want this. I think they they're manipulative. They put this bowl-cut uh gym teacher in that position. Athletic director. Sure. He's gonna do his job, but we know he's not Jon Stewart. John Stewart is literally bred for this. Yeah, but they said, yo, your son might be perfect. They watched, they were in communication with the parents. Like we've been they know he's perfect for the job. Physically, the DNA, all of it. I gotta see how they chose Guy, man. Guy Gardner. I think they literally chose him to spite John into like, yo, you that could have been you. They chose the lack of purse, nigga fine. We let a bum gym teacher. I let it. We let him have the ring. And he said, he's like, yo, you wouldn't have had that if it wasn't for me. And that's how he got him to go get the ring for him. And even Guy Gardner knows that. That's the thing.
SPEAKER_03That man's a company man though. Bad optics. Bad optics. Yeah, you know what I mean. Kept saying that bad optics. It's about money. That's what I'm saying. And he was selling uh power drinks. Yeah. Gatorade. It's all about money, fam. You know what I mean? So. But in the Superman movie, he stood up to Superman. He stood up to Superman? Like he wanted like a one-on-one fight with Superman. For real?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I gotta watch that movie again. That movie is. I slept through some of it. You see, again, James Gunn is the one that made the Guardians of the Galaxy. I just want to say something. Henry Cavill would have slapped the Superman act guy.
SPEAKER_02He would have. But that's not Superman. You gotta stop, you gotta divorce yourself from the comic book version. You wanna know why that's it?
SPEAKER_03It's not even the comic book version. Christopher Reeves wouldn't have slapped him either. That's my Superman, Christopher Reeves. He would have frozen. He would have laughed at him. Those Superman feet were crazy.
SPEAKER_02That might have to be a film history moment.
SPEAKER_03Because that Superman is the Silver Age, uh, the Bronze Age Superman when he had every power. Yo, that dude froze a lake and lifted it up and dropped it. This guy did time travel. Yeah, he just flew backward. He was like, whoa, my girl died? Hold on. I'm gonna I have it. That Superman, you can't do they can't make movies like that. Nah. Who's who's the bad guy? You can't beat that guy. That dude's having fun. Like let Lex Luther hit. That's what I'm saying. Like, he would he wouldn't have done nothing. He would have laughed that guy. He'd have been like, that haircut for real. Boom. Ha ha ha. Yeah, that's mine.
SPEAKER_02Nah, that was too powerful for me.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, nah. Alright. So what do you rate this air this episode?
SPEAKER_02One in 30.
SPEAKER_03Um 32. This is my least favorite episode. Really? Yeah. I didn't like it as much as I like the others. Okay, I can see that. But uh, it's because um it's like starting a new a new series. It's a new series. The continuity is still there. The characters are there, the setting is there, but I have a different Al Jordan. I have a different John Story, I have a new this guy Gardner, he's new. Yeah. Noah's an adult. I don't have a manhunter. I don't it went from detective plot to now who done it. I think it kind of sped up to the pacing. Yeah, the pacing sped up. Not enough to neck break you, but you can feel it if you're paying attention enough. Because there's only they have a lot to do with two episodes, bro. It's a nestrows out. New lantern, new ring, new this, he's dead. They threw a lot of information. I'm like luckily I'm familiar with the materials, but somebody, and this is what I'm saying. There's a trick that Game of Thrones mastered. If you get too nerdy too fast, the common man is not watching this shit. Yep. That's why they gotta keep this thing. They can't do the parallax, they can't do the specter, they gotta keep this. Now it's a Wodun It. You have two episodes to pull off a Whodun It that's believable, that's not some campy. Oh my god, this is so stupid. They're gonna leave you with a cliffhanger per usual, man. They have to. I gotta see Sinestro in the yellow, um, in the yellow suit. He just standing over the earth. I don't have to. I gotta see that shit. You gotta understand. Sinestro is is um is like Carnage. Yeah, he's the alternate. This guy is this guy's a sadistic dude, bro. Because remember, his whole thing is about fear. That's perfect. Yeah, this guy, he's about to put John through it. Hal said, you're scared as it. He's like, Wait, you're a bitch, you're a pussy now. He was like, What? Punched him right in his shit.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, um, Hal is I mean not Hal.
SPEAKER_03Um John is different right now. Yeah, and I think Sinestro's A lot of resentment, a lot of anger. Yeah, a lot of I'm nah. Imagine they flip nah it's too much, too much. Imagine they flip it. Imagine they flip it. What? And John is the he gets a yellow ring. That'd be fire. Because he instills fear. John?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, would he be spanking people?
SPEAKER_03White boys.
SPEAKER_02Black guy terrorizing a rush build. How do you think what do you like? What do you um think of the um the doctor, the corner, just like violent? I think I'm too vokes, man. Everything's racial for me. Oh my god, you might need some help.
SPEAKER_03He was old. Didn't I say I was ignoring it? I was like, I don't speak nigger. That's what I got from that whole thing. I was like, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02She was she was going to she was going in a little bit. I get it. He didn't talk that much. He didn't say it. Ask basic questions. Yeah, shut your mouth.
SPEAKER_03Watch your mouth. Yo, what'd you say, boy? I was like, Yeah, it was a lot of that. I think that reparation scene came like right after. I was like, oh, they're going crazy. Yeah, but um, there's a lot of blacks on the writing team, though. Shout out to black people, yeah. Yeah, black women, a lot of the writing team has a lot of black people on there. Black men on there, yeah. I seen him. Um I seen him, I've seen him.
SPEAKER_02I want you to write the music.
SPEAKER_03You guys got soul. Yeah, man. But um my rating would be 25. Modest 25.
SPEAKER_00Okay. What you got for me?
SPEAKER_02Eight, right? Eight, right? No, I was having old a nine. No, it was it was decent, so I would give it like a twenty-one. This is probably my least favorite episode. Um because my thing with with um when you have an hour-long, run an hour-long range show, your pacing is very important because with this one, uh I always look at from the beginning of the episode to the end. So in the beginning, he's this architect making his money, about to make a about to close a huge deal.
SPEAKER_03He looked rich too, man.
SPEAKER_02What 30 million or something?
SPEAKER_03Some crazy, some crazy number.
SPEAKER_02He's about to close. By the end of it, you're not closing it, you're in uh grave pulling out a ring. When did this start? When did that mindset like I need to get the ring off him start? And throughout the episode, it goes real quick. And I I didn't think they showed enough of the progression from like, hmm, I should get the ring. I'm gonna get Guy Gardner to come down here and go get the ring for me. And then I'm gonna tell I I didn't see the progression as clean as it could have been. And that's just me being very critical. But um, I think that's important. Like you said, Game of Thrones mastered that in the first iteration. And then they did the exact opposite. They dog walked you, and every scene meant something, and later, typically it connected to something bigger. So um maybe they need to lengthen their seasons. Maybe ten or twelve episodes instead of eight. It's eight, right? It's not yeah, it's not the budget anymore. All shows is eight. They show this is what they they slow down the first four episodes and they speed up the last few. And I think that's doing too much. Bad.
SPEAKER_03Because it's not how you should start, it's how you find it. Exactly. That's what happened with House of the Dragon.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, there was a the first episode, oh snap, Jace is dead, and then like the the next episode was dragged, and all of a sudden dragon fight with big battle here. I'm like, oh y'all sleep y'all put me to sleep. The pacing was off. Anyway, yeah, that's why I gave him 21. But other than that, uh, the acting again great, except for the mom on the phone. Um his brother's wild and the one that's a rapper. I gotta see that dude. You kidding me, son? Like, what are you talking about? I'm funding your rap career, and you got the nerf to Nah. Chosen, that's a slur. That's slow-key a slur. Yeah, amongst them. Yes. Anyway. On a lot of different levels, but yeah, they had a lot of little nuggets in there there.
SPEAKER_03I can't wait to see him on the big screen, Aaron Pierre. He's already been on the big screen. No, but like, yeah, but that was like animated. Yeah, but yeah, it still counts. He was also in a old, the movie old. He dated uh Tiana Taylor? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's not cool. They showing you in the film, he's black.
SPEAKER_02Paper boy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you're right.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. Listen, no knock on that's your lifestyle shoes. I didn't agree.
SPEAKER_03But anyway, um, yeah. We did it. Let's uh let's finally get out of Rushville. All right. Rushville. It's it's Rushville, right? I keep brushing. Rushville. Something like that. No, I'm just saying like Rush.
SPEAKER_02GR, you got a new segment you're rolling out today, brother. Film history. We're gonna go back. We're gonna pick a film from back in the day. I've decided that we should just do like anything pre-2010. Yes, 1126. That's 16 years ago. So in my mind, I've always said that the best films have been made already. Every once in a while, obviously there's exceptions to the rule, so every once in a while a good film comes out. For some people, that was Odyssey, for some people that was Spider-Man Brand New Day. For some people, that was um any one of these bigger films that came out recently, but I'm gonna use those two because they're the most recent big films. So what's gonna happen is we're gonna pick a film from back in the day and we're gonna break it down with fresh eyes from 2026. Yes. As grown adult and mature men. Yeah, mature and debatable. You're right. It is sometimes I just have fun. But anyway, um the film that we chose was Soul Food, at least I chose. Next one is probably gonna be on AG to pick. 97 on the on the dot. 97. And it starred Vanessa Williams, uh Vivid Fox, Neil Long, Makai Pfeiffer, um, Michael Beach. I'm surprised you remember that dude's name. You're a professor. That dude, huh? You're a professional. Michael Beach is a great actor who doesn't get enough credit. This guy, he he was also ultimate bad guy in the 90s, too. They used in a lot of films as a bad guy. Um he was recently, not recently, he was in the Sons of Anarchy and the Branch film, I think the Mayans. But anyway, the Branch uh series. But anyway, that film uh circ uh kind of chronicles the trials and tribulations of a black family. Um old school black family, um where they have the matriarchal dynamic. Um these are things that you pick up. This is why we have to break it down now, because you know that was normal, but now I look back, I'm like Big Mama's house. Where's the husband? Yeah, where's Big Daddy at? Pause. Um I said pause, man.
SPEAKER_03Nah, you got it. You did it within the time frame, but it doesn't make it any less funny. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_02It was funny. Anyway, where's the father of the house? He's not around. Oh, but they do reference him. They're like, oh, you have to put the house up to get dad out, but where is he? Anyway.
SPEAKER_03No, the one there is a matriarch in the house, a brother. Oh, the brother. But he has mental health. Yeah, but he has a problem. And they did what they do in the 90s with mental health, they just put him in the basement and put him in a room so he never leaves the room. Don't let him out. Yeah, yeah. That's actually very accurate for how we dealt with mental health, specifically in the black community.
SPEAKER_02Because we knew that drunk was serious. Yeah, he's anyway. So you saw it more recently. I watched it like probably two weeks ago. Let's uh let's start with you. Okay, so only what are your takes on this?
SPEAKER_03My first take is the villain of the movie.
SPEAKER_02We know who that is.
SPEAKER_03Is Big Mama. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02And I'm gonna tell you.
SPEAKER_03Let me hear this. I'm gonna tell you my villain, too. Number one, Big Mama knew that she was on the way out because she's diabetic and she continued to eat the way that she ate. We love them sweet potatoes. And and that neck bone. She refused to acknowledge that she had diabetes. Like, she was like, No, I don't got the sugar. Like, she was she was fine. She she burned herself. That the doctor's like, yo, you got they caught it early enough that hey, you gotta amputate. Unfortunately, you gotta amputate, but this will save your life. And she was like, you know, mulling over the office. Actually, it hit very close to home for me because my my family deals with diabetes a lot. My father's side, his mother died from diabetes in the same exact way. She was like, I'm going, because she's a very religious woman, and she's like, I'm not, I'm going back to God the way I came here. I had a family. So she was she just and and um you know, my dad's not here anymore, but he would tell me all the time that, you know, so thank you. Uh his um my uncles and aunts, because it was a big fan, you know, church, old school church fam, like 12 of them, 13 of them. So his um his siblings, they all left um to America. You know, they all got college degrees, they all settled where they settled. He stayed with his mom because he was he was the baby boy. So he stayed with his mom, and you know, he was like he got to watch her die through the diabetic diabetes way, but it's the same thing. She could have just amputated her leg. But you know, that's how it works. My mom wasn't doing that, she said. Exactly. So Big Mama, that's another reason why she's a villain is because she knew she was on her way out, which she chose to do her own way, and they were having financial issues, and they put all of this stuff on one character who I think is the villain. When you when I watched as a kid, she was the villain, Terry.
SPEAKER_02She is a villain.
SPEAKER_03No, she's not, and I'm gonna tell you exactly why she is. No problem. And Terry had to deal with all the finances, and Big Mama was sitting on Rack City, and she waited until the last moment on her deathbed when she was about to tell uh what was the boy's name? Ahmad? That's the actor's name, or that's his name. That's his name. She was about to tell Amad, and she did the classic thing, and she croaked before she even got to tell him where the money was. You want to keep your show friends? Exactly. She did that because the crazy thing is. She got it coughing crazy. Yeah, and it's like I was like, yo, all right, yeah, and yeah, she's the villain to me. And I think uh Terry is uh the victim of everything. Victim?
SPEAKER_02All right. I hear what you're saying, I really do because um honestly, uh, and that's actually a problem in the communities. Like a lot of these matriarchs and patriarchs people.
SPEAKER_03I'm so sorry, bro. She also was there when a lot of the issues when people were shitting on Terry about being the one that made it, the one that was rich. Oh no, Terry's gonna handle that. Terry's gonna handle that. Yeah, she tried to do the the the mom thing, which I this is why I do like the matriarch system sometimes. I don't. Um, no, I don't overall I think it's a net negative. But one thing that uh matriarchs tend to be better at is balancing the kids. Like yeah, both of y'all stink, as opposed to I know it's really her, but I'm from this argument, y'all both stink shut up. Yeah, um, she shouldn't have done that though. She should have been like, no, Terry is right. She she took care of herself, she got the money, but Terry, you know, we need your help. But what she did instead was she kind of just was like, yo, she never defended Terry. Both of y'all stop it and listen out and eat. Exactly. Yeah, she never defended Terry, and that the disrespect for Terry, she could have nipped it. Where I think uh uh a patriarch would have done that. Yes, he would have been like, yo, all of y'all need to give your sister some respect, especially y'all that keep stealing her men. But that's another conversation for another time. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_02You're good, man, because you're making some great points because when you're one of the, especially when you have parents, you know, and there's multiple children, when you are the one that shows up regularly. Get abused. Yeah, I'm not I'm not saying that it's like other people aren't showing up, but when you're they can they're you're the one that's the thing that they can they can rely on. Sometimes they get used to relying on you to the point where it becomes abuse, it does become abusive. And I'm sure everyone's had that experience to some degree. So I do understand what you're saying, but I will say that Terry is the villain because she allowed that to turn into a lot of resentment. I'll give you an example. Um, actually, we gotta talk about that scene first. That was a fire scene. But um, like for instance, when um it came to Lim, he was sitting at the table, he just got out of prison, and she called in the favor. And he's like, Yo, I don't know what happened, they just got me out. Uh uh, somebody, and she's like, Oh, well, by the way, I I got you out.
SPEAKER_03Arrogance on her part, ego.
SPEAKER_02Ego, but now it's like y'all always rely on me. Now I gotta let y'all know it was me, even though you're the same person who called and got him put in prison. Yes. Good job in fixing the problem, but at the same time, you create the problem. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Like, and one of the things that um that's big in the cu the black me overall, not always true. But it's like you stay out of other people's business.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_02You know what I'm saying? Like you should she should have never even got involved in what they were doing, but she chose to. Yeah. Now, the another reason why I think she's a victim, and this is me depending on Michael Beach's character, which I don't agree with what he did, but I understand, is in the relationship. She was so caught up with what she was trying to do and you know, finances and all that. And I think that deep down she was never over that original man that Fox character. Clearly not. And Michael Beach being like a constellation prize. Yeah, sure, he's a lawyer too. He loves music. You don't care about his music. No, you don't care about what he does. So you he's left all by himself in this beautiful this big house. You got your cousin staying there who's fire, by the way. Faith was fire, dancing and doing all this. Listen, man, I I don't know what I would have done in that situation. But Vanessa Williams is fire too, so I don't think I'm cheating. But the point is that you kind of set him up for that. And you have your cousin in the house with him. So you put the man in a bad position. He's gonna pull up, you're gonna back a knife out on him at the at the um party. I'm not with that. Yeah, there's a lot of like things she did, and I'm missing a few too, if I think about it. She likes to put in a people's face. Like I did, I was in law school. Listen, your sister didn't steal your man like that. He he made a choice.
SPEAKER_03If somebody could be stolen from you, they would never for you. They were never for you. Okay, fair enough. Um, just a little pushback. So she allowed her cousin to stay with her because she's doing she's doing the thing that she consistently did throughout the movie, which is I gotta take care of these motherfuckers. Stay at Big Mama's house. Well, Uncle What's No. Why not? Because I don't know what's going on at Big Mama's house. We don't even know how many rooms are available. Cousin Faith is fine. Yeah, I get you, but I'm being a good um auntie cousin, and I'm gonna let you stay with me, and I trust my husband to take care of himself. Now, again, financially. The reason why she was so financially driven, one, because you know it's the old school power woman thing. They um they john they John Stewarded her. Yeah, you gotta be they put her in school, you gotta be this. Yeah, so she she did her job. She did her job, and then now she got a man who he's a lawyer too, but now he wants to come, he has the ability, he don't got a family to take care of. He can just lawyers to school. I'm gonna be a musician. She can't do that, so it's hard for her to want to do that, but she can't, even if she wanted to, she couldn't do it. She has she has dependence, yeah. He got the opportunity to live for not really dependence, though. How bird got her own store, that's her shop. Okay, I'm pretty sure um they mentioned that she helped fund that. Great. So you don't get your money back.
SPEAKER_02So that's you know, Black America Fox. I don't know what she does. I think she's a stay-at-home mom. She could cook, though, apparently. Yeah, and she's fine too. But um, the point is, listen, man, like it's not all on her. Like other people are starting to do what they have to do, and I get it. It's it's tough, but she neglected her husband in a lot of ways. Yes, I will agree with you. He's like, we haven't had fun. She's not perfect. No, no, no. Yeah, but my thing is that she was with that other man, still not over that dude. And she even said in the kitchen, I just feel like if I was with you, he's like, yo, I mean, you know, this is yeah. So that's to me, that's villainous. We don't look at it that way, but it's like, yo, you are married to someone. Yeah, you shouldn't even be entertaining that kind of conversation. Not even the entertainment, but it's like you should never have married them if you're still not over that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, if you're not over that, man. You know what I'm saying? Like, she got dealt with bad hand. She could both of her dudes, uh, her family did this her. You gotta get you gotta get healing in these situations.
SPEAKER_02You gotta get healing, bro. She her crash out was justified. So she chose, she got ended up with a guy who's a lawyer, right? Um, who's also a musician. Yep. And the other guy works at a paper factory. Yeah. There's a lot of science. Yo, this is a great movie when it comes to psychology of women. Because I don't know, maybe it's just because it's the man that did it for her. Maybe he rang her bell when they were younger. But Michael Beach is a full-blown lawyer in the musician school on a piano.
SPEAKER_03This is the best of both worlds. You got the corporate side and he got the free spirits. This guy just works at a paper company. Yeah. Regular, nothing wrong with that. I'm just saying. Come on now.
SPEAKER_02You sit here consulting. Listen, man, I didn't like that. That was that was bad for business. Also, um, I didn't like how they uh, you know what the other villain is, too? The minister, because he should have been praying over that family.
SPEAKER_03Oh no, that that dude is the um Eacon? Yeah, he was a bad uh stereotype, a bad trope of the I hated that. Especially, you know, knowing you know your situation. Um I don't like that. No, you group, you know, you're church guy. Yeah, I don't I don't like that uh eat and feel up women. I was like, it happens, it happened because I've never seen that from a black pastor personally. I've never experienced I haven't been to every church, obviously. Right, but I think that's a bad trope because it pushes people, it makes the the church thing church is a community thing, and it makes it kind of flips and perverses it. And that's not a part of our community. I I've never seen that. I've never experienced that, I've never heard no stories like that about black church. I've heard it about churches, don't get me wrong, but not black church, and then even in um everybody hates Chris, the the the pastor guy is like a con artist. It's like why is this a common theme in black media? Yep, I don't understand that. They attach it to black preachers specifically, yeah. Like why? Not just preachers, it's them.
SPEAKER_02So they're trying to say that the character of the black man is supposed to be righteous, is actually.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and I've never experienced that personally, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, for sure. Um, but I mean if they keep telling it, maybe there's some truth to it, but I'm not I'm not rolling with that. Uh, yeah, but his character was bad. Touchy feeling kissing up on all the girls. And again, because there's no patriarch to tell him, like, A, why are you another able-bodied man eating up my food every Sunday? Every Sunday. Yeah. Every Sunday. Every Sunday. And B, why are you touching my children? My daughters, my nieces. Well, there's no man in the house to be lazy. There's no man. Stop touching my family.
SPEAKER_02Oh, there is a man, but he's in the uncle. He's in the room. That dude rejected the food. All the money was in his TV box. Exactly. So Big Mama didn't get a chance to say that, but like no one's ever gonna figure that out.
SPEAKER_03No. And I blame Big Mama for that. Watching Terry. There is a lot of so Terry was the victim to you. To me, yes. She was not she was not perfect, she was not the greatest victim, but if there's a villain here, it's Big Mama. If there's a victim here, it's Terry.
SPEAKER_02Terry was the prototypical, like, you know, highly educated woman who became like the man that she's wearing the pants in her relationship, and that's not her role now. I think Michael Beach needed to really, his character, uh Miles, needed to really uh manhandle her. Yeah, she was waiting for that. In an affectionate way. Yeah, but he already She needs to be like dogged out. Yeah. In a the best way possible. In the best way, like a guy like Lim, uh, which was played by Mackay Pfeiffer. Yeah, Micai Pfeiffer's career, would have had her like losing her mind. Yeah. That's usually how it goes. But they they played a lot of in what I've I've, you know, again, watching this movie with fresh eyes, I'm like, there's a lot of stereotypes in it. Yeah, the jailbird nigga. The thug. Everyday guy.
SPEAKER_03Yep. The highly accomplished black. The light-skinned nigga. Sheets. The light-skinned nigga. Who? Miles? Um, no, the Oh, Samuel. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. That was the ultimate. Like, you show up at the wedding? Talking about. Yo, that was crazy. Yeah, that was nuts. That's who Drake thinks he is.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02He'll never be that. But that's the scene I don't talk about. That very first marriage scene. Both of y'all got skeletons coming out of the closet to show. That's your wedding. Both of them light-skinned, too. Yeah. Um, who had the worst uh whose whose light-skinned skeleton was really like more powerful in this scene? Um, has more of an effect. The girl. The girl? Yeah. I think Semi W has more of an effect.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02Because of the dynamic between men and women. Like, he could have been dancing with her, but it's like I'm marrying her. Yeah, his yeah, yeah. He was doing the most.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, she yeah, she was OD and I think.
SPEAKER_02Some came put hands on her, was like, I got money though. And she ended up doing what later? She went back to him. That's another villainous move. I see what she was trying to do. But I'll tell women every do not if you have a man who's a masculine man who tells you he's good, you gotta let him figure it out. Now, unless you're wise enough to be feminine and kind of like slip in suggestions that make him think it's his idea, but what she did was kind of wild. And then on top of that, had jewelry from the man too. Yeah. This is why what he did at the wedding was more powerful, because it's like still got you on the low. Yeah, you're right, you're right. And she went back. I hated that. Oh man, I I I get why he crashed down and broke that glass.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I get it. Um, could this movie have been made today?
SPEAKER_02Um, parts have definitely been stolen. Oh yeah. Tyler Perry definitely like that dinner scene where where Vanessa Williams's character, Terry, says, like, well, I'm the one who got you out of there. And then Nia goes off and she's like, Oh, whoa, you need to stop worrying about my man, worry about why your man is sleeping with her. Yeah. That's that's the same bald who's like, Oh, y'all want to talk about me. Yeah, from why did I get married? Why are you doing it's this it's it's recycled, but this is work. Yeah, that the the dinner is where it goes down there. No, that's life. That's life. Yeah. I've seen this happen at work. I'm like, oh, better than I try to hear me out. I know all your information. Everybody sitting down eating. Yeah, long before the storm. It all starts with one comment, and that's why Terry, all she had to do was be like, that's what's up. I'm happy you got out. She was over it, though. And she could have pulled him to the side and been like, oh, I'm sorry that I got you locked in the first place. I did call on the favor to get you out.
SPEAKER_03Um if this I need the glory. If this, yeah, she she did. If this movie was made today, I don't the mental health stuff would have been, I think, more uh on the forefront. They would have shamed everybody into how they treated him. Um they fed him every day. No, I'm just saying, like, he wanted to be in this room. They would have like he would have been a more central character if they made it today. And uh they would have been uh not that there's anything wrong with this. Who'd you watch this movie with? Uh by myself. Okay, good. Similar scenes with fire. They would have made a homosexual character. There was a homosexual character. Who? Bird had a friend. And when his clothes fall off, he's like, ugh. No, I mean like I might I mean a main character would have been they would have they would have made a little boy gay.
SPEAKER_02Either he's gay or Miles would have been Faith would have been a man and Miles would have. Okay. That's what that's oh nah. Nah, it would have been the boy. Yeah, the little boy. Yeah. Because the story's kind of told through his lens, right? It is through his lens, so it would have been like he had a little secret and something like that.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03And our only person I told was Big Mom. Now she's gone.
SPEAKER_01I just want y'all to know. Y'all messed with Faith.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But anyway, yeah, um, overall, I think the film um it would have to be done through a Tyler Perry lens. Yeah. The only way. And um then there'd be a lot more of the the husband of Vivika Vivica Fox's character would have to be shamed more. Like he he they would have made him just more awakened. Because you know Tyler Perry is like a black man. Yeah, yeah, gotta be the villain. Um but overall I thought the film when it comes to lessons, there's a lot of good ones, but again, the stereotypes are what kills it. But um I remember seeing that movie as a young boy and being like, yo, um, is this how life's gonna be? Like um, the fact that there was no male there didn't resonate with me at first until I realized later that a lot of those problems don't happen if there's just a man.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you see how important patriarch is and how detrimental it is to the black experience, not even just in America, around the world. Like you need men. You need them. And other men respect men. Yep. And a lot of the like even when they uh when he lost his job, he didn't get to speak to an elder. He spoke to a guy, he spoke to a guy that's in the same, like there they needed to be the the the the the papa, like a guy. Hey, I I need to speak to an elder about this. What do I do? And ultimately he should have just told his girl, Hey, I lost my job. And it would have actually been good for their relationship because it would have showed hey, we're in this together. Well, she called him at home, that's right.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he was at home in the shower, that's how the whole scene.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, she didn't even know that he lost a job. And then she had to go behind his back to get him a job with the lights can do. Nah, how did she do it though? Shit, you know. You remember that scene?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was kind of Can I just go over it all? Yeah, it was nasty. She called him in. Oh, let me just touch you up. Oh, you want to touch me up? Yeah, like, all right, let me give you a little haircut. Now he got jewelry on her hand. It was nasty. And he went, and this is one of the reasons all men, the majority of men don't want another man to have one up on him. Yeah. It don't even have to be he hit he hit your girl. Yep. It could be just I was talking to your girl alone and she never told you he was talking. Yeah, that's that man went to his job to say, Oh, I helped you, I need you to help me the way I helped you. And it started dropping pet names. Cola. He's like, Who the f is cola? Oh, that's why that's a pet name I said for bird. Like all of that was so deeply disgusting. He his crash out could have been worse. Should have been worse. Should have been worse.
SPEAKER_03And especially for a bird ass nigga.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. So the lesson for that, and Big Mama said it, you don't never help no man. Like, let him let the man don't go above him to try and do stuff for him, especially in that fashion. Nah, that was nasty. That was disgusting. Yeah, that was nasty. But to be caught off guard like that and realize that this man who used to sleep with your girl got you a job. He's little boy. He's little. Yeah, he literally is little boy. I'm letting you have her. I could take it from you at any point. I got money all day. I'm I I hold your fate in my hands.
SPEAKER_03I control the w the money in your household. That's crazy. So he had to get fired. I'm your daddy. Yeah. So um light skin tactics. Yeah. Cold game. Um, how do you score this movie? Unless you go first. For me? Yeah. Soul food is a 26.
SPEAKER_0226. It's a 26 for me. Though the four points are notched off just for the radically ridiculous stereotypes.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna go with and GR might kill me for this. They might actually call me a coon out there. No, I'm not calling you no coon. No, no, you won't. They will. Um, I'm gonna go with a 21. Why is that? I'm gonna tell you why.
unknown21.
SPEAKER_03There was more eye candy than there was acting for me. Listen, they were young back then. There was no standout monologue scene that was like, this is great. Ensemble cast.
SPEAKER_02There's no star. There's no star.
SPEAKER_03Ama just holds it together, but I wanted more from Makai. Ahmad didn't kill it? With the crying scene? Yeah, the screen. No, no, he he cried like a like I didn't he didn't take me out the scene. And crying is hard. He he did it, he bodied that. But I there's no one like you know when you like yo, I want to put somebody onto a movie and I give you this one scene. I don't know if that movie has that.
SPEAKER_02Makai had one to me. That walk into the door with a glass break, I thought it was fire.
SPEAKER_03No, it's a good scene, but yeah. Um that and then like you said, a lot of the tropes, I didn't like it. It was a little nasty, and I it didn't age well to me.
SPEAKER_02In terms of like the Pantheon of black films.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's on the lower end of it. It's not bad. I didn't it's not a bad movie at all, but it's not even in my top. Like I I over the um my paternity leave, I I I uh me and my girl, because you know, she didn't grow up in a super black household. She's a Hispanic woman. So we did all the black films, and I soul fool's not on my list. Yeah. So I I actually I actually have to watch this with her. I had this in my list now, though. So 21 for me. That song was fire.
SPEAKER_02Oh, babyface in the movie. Yeah, he was uh part of his group. You're tripping, bro. That's fire. That song was fire.
SPEAKER_03I didn't say it was 21.
SPEAKER_0221's good, but I just feel like it should be higher because uh this the the cast of actors they had, this is before we had. And it probably laid a lot of the groundwork for stuff like The Best Man, where we had these ensemble casts of up-and-coming actors.
SPEAKER_03But they're all better though.
SPEAKER_02That's the problem. Well, Neil Long's in both of them, actually. Yeah. I think about it. Uh Michael Beach doesn't get enough credit. Vivica Fox is a legend. Yes. Nessa Williams is a legend.
SPEAKER_03I didn't.
SPEAKER_02Ahmad didn't get to, he's just a young, he didn't turn to the potentially. I'm not shitting on them. I gave it a 21. The lady who plays Big Mom, I wish I remember her name, but she's still, she's consistent.
unknown21.
SPEAKER_02You wild. I didn't say 19. Makai Pfeiffer is a legend.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I'm not dis I said I needed more from them. The guy who plays simul, he phased out when light skinned niggas went out. It's a lot of interchangeable. But yeah, 21, 21. I think it's clean. Clean 21. 21? Alright. I can't say nothing.
SPEAKER_02So it's the worst of the best.
SPEAKER_03It's the bottom tier. I would not even use the word worst. It's the bottom tier of the best. That's fine. That's how you know what? Alright. That's how I got that's how I gotta say.
SPEAKER_02Alright, one more thing on that film though. What's up? So the women in that film. Yes. In terms of attractiveness. Where are we at with that?
SPEAKER_03A lot of eye candy. If we just talk about attractiveness, that's up there.
SPEAKER_02Like 28. This is before BBL. Yeah, this is operational, yeah. This is Vanessa Williams is a gorgeous woman. Like, oh my god. She got the top face in that film. Um Nia Long, her she Nia Long is Nia Long, bro. She goodness. Vivica Fox is at that stage in her life. I'm so sad about what she's turning into. But she was a stone cold fox. Yeah, like I know pun intended fire. Yeah, no pun intended. Anyway, I'm sorry, let's move on.
SPEAKER_03No, no, that's uh I told you the eye candy is one of the reasons why a lot of chocolate had every flavor. Yeah, it got up there, got up to 21. They didn't have dark chocolate and they need that. Nah, yeah, they didn't, they they didn't, yeah. I mean big mom, okay. Nah, she's milk chocolate. Alright. Um, so it's my turn, right? Yeah. So I guess you want to pick. Don't pick nothing crazy, so no, I'm not. I'm gonna I'm keeping it um You don't gotta be black either. So no, I'm gonna keep it black. I'm gonna raise you one. Uh so for my film history nomination?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. We might be able to talk about it right now.
SPEAKER_03No. I watch black films all the time.
SPEAKER_02I know before I go to bed.
SPEAKER_03No, we're not gonna do it. Um I'm stuck between two movies. Oh my god. Make it the same. But I'm gonna pick one right now. I just want to uh see something real fast. Um we're gonna go to 1989. 89? I can't go that far. That's a good year. Yes, I said it was a good year.
SPEAKER_02I think that the Metro in this oh no. That's when you arrived?
SPEAKER_03Oh, when yeah, sure. 89? Good year. Do the right thing. Do the right thing. And the reason why Spike. I'm selecting that because I'm having a I do a lot of these director battles, and I think I'm about to start bringing it up to the pod. I'm having a John Singleton versus Spike Lee thing in my head. John Singleton. Versus Spike Lee thing. Ah, it's tough.
SPEAKER_02It's really hard. Yeah, Boys and Hood was iconic. Boys and Hood is my favorite nigga movie. School Days is fire.
SPEAKER_00Inside man, the baby boy. Yeah, do the right thing.
SPEAKER_03And um one of the reasons I'm I selected this is because I did live I didn't know this, but I lived in the neighborhood that inspired it. Um Howard Beach inspired this. You lived in Howard Beach? For a little while ago.
SPEAKER_00It inspired this movie. An incident that happened at Howard Beach. No. What does that do with Howard Beach?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_02I just feel like you're one of those guys.
SPEAKER_03I look like a nigga that'll be on a skateboard. I just think nigga. Yeah, what's up with this guy, man? Kick push takes. Nah, hell no. I love Lupe Fiasco though, but no. No, not a skateboard anymore. No. Whoa, overrated what? Lupe's overrated. Lupe, Lupe's the best rapper in hip-hop history. See, this is the best. Like bars. Hyperple. I'm being dead ass. Nas is better than that. No, he's not. Now that put a words together. So what are you saying about Do the Right Thing? That is the film history movie that I selected. Alright, bet. Yes. So next episode, next pod, next uh multiversal flight that we take. We're going back to 1989.
SPEAKER_00Alright.
SPEAKER_03Do the right thing. Spikely, a spikely joint.
SPEAKER_01A spikely joint.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Alright. We got some news. And um, I think this is actually really bad news. We have a monopoly of foot. Oh, that yeah, this listen, dude. Paramount has purchased Warner Brothers.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_03So what that means is CNN, HBO, um, CBS, and Paramount are all one entity. I had complaints about the Spider-Man movie and the MCU as a whole because this ruins comics, it ruins TV, it ruins movies. Because when one party owns this, but I'm the one making the movie about that, I can't use this character unless there's a contract thing and this. Somebody even made the observation that they they haven't said the words Batman yet in the DCU, the new DCU. Because are you including lanterns? Yeah, they they said the bat guy. Yeah, we can't. It's like what this stuff it we the consumer suffers. The billionaire's gonna billionaire, but it ruins the quality of things, and it's the reason why we don't have an MJ. I mean, why we have an MJ, not a Mary Jane. It's it's things like that that cause this. I hope I actually hope the consolidation stops all of this, but it's not because now there's a power struggle between it's Netflix, Disney, and now Paramount. Apple's there because Apple's doing all the critically acclaimed stuff, they're getting all of the awards. They're because they're pumping money, they're not trying to make any money. The Netflix model of hey, we're just gonna put a bunch of money and not care about making money, we just want the market share. I think um Paramount's doing the opposite. They're just consolidating everything, they want everything. We already know what's hot. Once you get HBO, because Cinemax is gone. HBO eight Cinemax. That's why it's HBO Max. Now I have everything. I don't know where Showtime is at. A lot of these staple programming that we grew up on, like, you know, it's I just don't like it. It's nasty. But we'll see.
SPEAKER_02Now, um, when they start combining stuff, it's it's almost like they're trying to bring everything together to tell one story. I think um obviously for what the the reasons you said when you were talking about um the conflict of interest with telling stories, um, you have this part of the story, you have that part of the universe. It's the that's the biggest problem. But the underlying problem I'm seeing is that it's almost like connecting everyone's algorithm to kind of get everyone to think the same way.
SPEAKER_03The same way, act the same way, talking about it's like my bad.
SPEAKER_02No, no, you got it. When we were growing up, you know, we had three entities, major entities for um, you know, young entertainment, which was Nickelodeon, Disney, Cartoon Network, and whatever other networks there were, but those are the three major ones. And we always knew they were separate. And it was stylistically different, they were distinctly distinctively different, and you knew what you wanted. If I wanted, like, you know, a kid's version of um Whose Line is it? Anyway, I'm gonna go to Nickelodeon. They got the Keenan Kelly show, they got all that. If I wanted good films that, you know, kid friendly, you know, you go on the Disney Channel. They had a lot of that. If you want the if you wanted something with some heat, yeah, some action packed network. Yeah, Powerpuff Girls, Samurai, Jack, Dragon Ball Z, that's where you went for that. But now they're bringing everything together, and you know what happens when you bring everything together. I can lower the product because you you only have to come to one place.
SPEAKER_03You only you gotta come to come to me.
SPEAKER_02You have to. There's no other dealers, it's just me. So when I give you this this this cut-down water. Down product. All you can do is sit there and argue about it, but this is what you're gonna get next time, too. Where you gonna go? But there is hope. There's a creative generation of AI users.
SPEAKER_03Oh, you pro AI.
SPEAKER_02If we use it for the right reasons. Power is neutral. Remember that. Yeah. Power is neutral. This is why God says in his word, I create good and evil.
SPEAKER_03See, I was about to give you that, but nah. Came from the big man. Yeah. That's fire. Power is neutral. Power's neutral. God has no enemy. It's how you use it. So Nestro about to say it in the next episode. No, that's what the series.
SPEAKER_02It was like, oh nah, the force is the force. Just don't listen to the dogmatic views of the Jet. Power is neutral. Power is power. God is not a name, it's a title. It means power.
unknownI like that.
SPEAKER_02Alright, so again, AI can be used for really good things.
SPEAKER_03Yo, I'm messing with AI. I like AI. Yeah. But I see the dangers of AI.
SPEAKER_02People are definitely used for evil. Yeah. That's the problem. That's the problem. Like, I found out recently that there's whole like pages of girls who people, like, guys are like setting them like. I wanted to make one. I thought it was gay. Is it gay? Talk to me. Talk to me, big bro.
SPEAKER_03So, okay, I can't be a hunter.
SPEAKER_02So just so you know, like when they see these girls dancing, it's the same thing as that whole trend with um uh the Migos, Uncle and Oh, yeah, Uncle Feud. But they just put plasters on over. It's a man dancing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And they just put an AI woman over. A lot of these dudes looking at that, I was like, that's a man's moves. Very manhunterish.
SPEAKER_03I wasn't gonna dance, but I definitely thought about making a um, yeah. I definitely thought about making an AI girl to collect money.
SPEAKER_02Let me say something. You create an AI girl, and they're like, when you make an AI girl and you do your regular post, you're making like $50 a day. But when you do the dances and paste are on you, you start making $600 a day.
SPEAKER_03Well, you see, that's why I have OGs, my OGs on that game. I'm just letting you know. I ain't fighting back when you said no. All right, but I'm cool, I ain't doing it. Big bro said no.
SPEAKER_02I'm just I'm just saying I suggest that you don't do it.
SPEAKER_03But that's all I need, brother. But um, yeah, I'm I'm team AI. AI has uh done a lot of dope stuff. And what I do like about AI, like you said, about the power thing. Anyone can do it. We can do it, we can start our own studio tomorrow. 100% start pumping out our own stuff if you get the prompts right. Yeah, software. I think that's the future. You gotta somebody's gonna learn how to wheel this thing. And I and I said it when AI first came on the scene, when ChatGBT and Claude, all these things first came out. I said it, I said in our chat, our group chat, I was like, yo, I don't want black people to be behind Able on this. I don't because I feel like this is gonna be the new mechanism. This is gonna be where all the jobs are gonna be at. This is gonna be what we're gonna have to use in our day-to-day lives eventually. And I don't want us to be the oh yeah, nah, we ain't messing with that, and everybody else laps us and then we're playing catch-up. So I'm I'm actually glad that you're you know pro AI. I'm pro-AI for good.
SPEAKER_02But the thing is, people are gonna use it for wickedness, and also AI eventually is going to just not need people at all. Then that's the scary part. What the more we use it in like, oh, let's do this, let's make this, it learns. It's like, oh, you like it. Oh, that's what I like. Gotcha. That's why when it first came out, not when it first came out, but there was like a certain phase where all I was seeing was like AI videos of black Will Smith. He was the first AI that He didn't eat in the spaghetti. The spaghetti. The leaps and bounds. Yes, and in a short time. Short time. But then I remember there was like a trend of videos like black people like, you know, just saying stuff, being like really ghetto, but I'm not gonna be like, Yeah, no, it's mad. The prompts are always black people for some reason. I'm like, what is this obsession? Yeah, original. People are cosplaying as us via AI. This is nasty. But anyway, AI is good for uh reasons that I think you uh you might have an idea for. But again, back to the original subject. I know what this is. This is a bad move for for um TV and film overall.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Marvel getting bought by Disney. I felt like the MCU would have been better if Marvel just kept it. Of course. Disney made it where you can't have the alcoholic womanizing Iron Man. He has to just be all the characters are the same nigga. They're all the equipping of a f like there's only a few guys, like Thor is not supposed to be making jokes. Like, that's not his character, but they all gotta be this, because it's Disney. Disney has its own thing. Very woke. Disney has its way of doing things, so it's like, why does Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Thor have the same personality? That's not how this guy's supposed to be a womenizer. Copy and paste. This guy's supposed to be, hey, where's the next fight at? I'm here to fight, and I want to prove myself as Odin's son. And this guy's supposed to be the quippy guy. They all doing quips. Yep. And that's the problem. I need I need DC to be DC. I don't need DC to now be Paramount. Because I don't know what Paramount is. Isn't Paramount Spongebob? Paramount? Yo, bro, can you imagine if we have Sinestro and he's making jokes like Patrick Starr?
SPEAKER_02It could happen.
SPEAKER_03I don't want that's I don't want to Batman is Spongebob?
SPEAKER_02Robert Patterson is gonna get he's gonna get worked.
SPEAKER_03Nah, he's not. He's not he's not Batman. Who's Batman? They don't have one yet. I haven't announced it. I thought Patterson. That's why he's a one and done film? He has two films. Matt Reeves. He has a film coming out. Matt Batman. Yeah, that's it.
unknownGood.
SPEAKER_03Because remember, James Gunn is the guy now. Matt Reeves directed that. James Gunn is. Oh. James Gunn is DC is his. Switch over. Yeah, he's gonna do the the bold, the bold and um, the brave Batman. So that's the blue and gray suit. I think that's his. Oh, okay. I think that's what he's about to do. That was blue? That's supposed to be black. You're talking about the original throwback suit? Nah, the the the cartoon, the bold and the brave, when it was like blue and gray. Got you. Yeah. And they're gonna um I think he's gonna do Damian Wayne because we've never seen Damian Wayne.
SPEAKER_02You've heard me say this before. I'm really tired of Batman, Superman. I'm tired of Spider-Man. Shut up, shut up. Should we use other characters, mad other characters?
SPEAKER_03We got Green Lantern.
SPEAKER_02This thing is trash, too.
SPEAKER_03Now you're wowing. Now you're wilding. You see? Old power. You uh hate everything, man. I do. I love everything, man. There gotta be a balance. I do love it, but my thing is. You just called him trash. Which one are we talking about?
SPEAKER_02Guy Garden?
SPEAKER_03All of them is cool. That's the point.
SPEAKER_02John Stewart is nice.
SPEAKER_03They all cool. They all cool. Not Guy Gardner. But he's not supposed to be cool. He's supposed to be addicted. So then I'm right then. No, he's not trash. He has like the most willpower. Like willpower be leaking out of his ring.
SPEAKER_02It's just got just green juice.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's leaking. Like his ring can't even. Made us out of you? I'm not doing that. I'm just asking. I I didn't hear it.
SPEAKER_02I want to make sure to cast him clearly. I heard what you just said.
SPEAKER_03He's not about to set me up like that. You set yourself up, man.
SPEAKER_02Listen. No. But no, um, it's not good for um these guys to mix businesses. But you know, I remember it was maybe close to 10 years ago, they had this thing that came out called net neutrality.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02They were gonna now have us have to go to different um platforms, you know, Paramount, Netflix, Hulu, whatever, to get our entertainment. And we were supposed to vote against it, but we didn't, we lost. Right? So now they spread it out where you're paying for these different things, and they're bringing it back together. It's a it's a pay it's a play. Like we're gonna like give you we're gonna give you what we want and think you make you bring you back to thinking that you're getting back what you wanted originally, but it's only gonna work in work against the content. So now they're gonna control everything that we consume, but thus partially for some of us can um controlling how we think and how we view the world. So gotcha. That's where you want with that.
SPEAKER_03Just don't let uh Batman uh sound like Spongebob and we'd be all right. Can I ask a quick question? Are you tired of Batman? Who would you uh peg for Batman?
SPEAKER_02I'm tired of Batman. Yeah, I'm tired of Batman.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but who'd you pick? Now? Yeah, who'd you cast? This is uh James Gunn's universe for Batman. We already got Corn Sweat. That's Superman. We got Aaron Pierre. So in terms of the time frame, he's a grown man now. Yeah, he already he already has Robin, and it's gonna be his son, Damien, I think. Which is gonna be fire. It's Damien.
SPEAKER_02And then let me come back to you and tell you what because I gotta do it.
SPEAKER_03Uh the dude that played the dude from Blue Mountain State.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's my guy, man. I really do like him. Yeah, he's a really good guy. But I don't know if he can be Bruce Wayne. That's my only problem. He's too brawlic, too. That nigga huge. Yeah. No pause? Nah. Alright. Anyway, um, yeah, Alan Richardson is a great actor. He's from Blue Mountain State. I've I've uh been uh a fan. He's super white boy show, by the way. Yeah, I love it. I went to college in a white college when we played football, bro. You know what I mean? Like, that's it is what it is, but that drink was funny to me.
SPEAKER_03First time I ever seen a pocket vagina was on that show.
SPEAKER_02I was like, oh yeah. That show you watched every episode? No. Right out. You didn't see season two, season three? No. Nah, we gotta watch it. Now we gotta talk about it. Okay. It's matter. As soon as you watch Euphoria.
SPEAKER_03We got him. Ladies and gentlemen, we got him. At least what I'm trying to show you is what? It's funnier. Yeah, euphoria is sad. So it's balance. It's balanced. It's and you get to put some respect on Zendaya's name. I'm not saying she's a balance. She goes nuts in that show, bro. Yeah. A lot of druggie. Nah, it's it's she. I got you. Don't worry. If if after you watch that, you don't have a new respect level for her. I'm not saying you don't respect her. If you don't have a newfound respect for her, then you got it. Because she I believe she can act. She went nuts.
SPEAKER_02I just think that they're overusing her. I think that's probably the best character for that type of character. You gotta see it, dog. It's great. At some point. But are you gonna give me your Batman or what? I'm still trying to think because this is tough because you know, we're talking about Batman. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um, who can pull off a Bruce Banks? It's the Bruce Wayne part that most people slip at. Exactly. Because he just put on a mask. Shout out Christian Bell. I think Christian Bale was a really good phenomenal. He was a really good Bruce. The biggest mistake was but other than that. His Batman was not the he's the best Batman to me. But his Batman, if it makes sense, his Batman was not the best, but his Bruce Wayne. We're about to see what you about right now.
SPEAKER_02We about to see what you're about.
SPEAKER_03It's Val Coomer. No, no, it's probably it's probably yo, honest to God.
SPEAKER_02To me, he's Christian Bill. I will say he had help with the director and the Yeah, come on, yeah, no one, bro. And he had great actors in the games.
SPEAKER_00Oh my goodness. Yo, honestly. This is gonna sound like sacrilege.
SPEAKER_03Don't say it might have been Batflick, man. Ben Affleck. Okay. No, that's fair. I think his Batman was Batman.
SPEAKER_02Oh, he did good.
SPEAKER_03His Batman. Just the Batman.
SPEAKER_02Him fighting against Superman.
SPEAKER_03I really enjoyed that. I think Ben Affleck's Batman was probably the best. Just the Batman. What did you think of George Clooney as Batman? I liked his Bruce Wayne.
SPEAKER_02He was a very good I didn't like his Batman. He was he was too more edge. Yeah, he was too campy. Even as Bruce Wayne, I need to see him a little more I'm Vengeance. But that that entire film was kind of like cartoon. Yeah, that was a camp. It was more comic book. And more comic book, accurate, colorful and whatnot.
SPEAKER_03It was campy. Yeah, Eminem is uh Eminem was in there? Nah, the guy, the actor looks like Eminem that played uh Robin.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. He was hot back then, though. Pause. You know what I mean? Like he was big back then. Pause.
unknownYou know what I mean?
SPEAKER_02He was like popular at that time. He was in um what was it? He was in um I can't remember that there was a show. Not 90210, but he was at that time. Oh, like the OC, one of those shows. At that time, that era, he was in everything. California, yeah. So he was and I think it was Uma Thurman who played uh she's not attractive like that.
SPEAKER_03She has an interesting face. Yes. Um she played Poison Ivy. She had both of them niggas box him. And then we had Arnold Swordsnake. Arnold. Yeah, that was that was a that was a comic book, come alive, right? Yo, Jim Carrey as a riddler was kind of tough. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I'm Batman.
SPEAKER_03That was fire. Jim Carrey, he that's his he might be the riddle. I don't know. Yeah. He's he's a great riddler. I don't know if we have a we have another one, but he's not.
SPEAKER_02You know who actually could play a really good Batman, but I don't think they're gonna ever let him do it.
SPEAKER_03Who? If you say Denzel, I'll get him walk out right now.
SPEAKER_02That'd be okay. I thought that was funny. Now um the guy who actually played Scarecrow in um the original Killian Cillian? Yeah, he's in um Peaky Blinders now. Yeah, no, he's a good actor, he's in Oppenheimer.
SPEAKER_03Ooh, Oppenheimer?
SPEAKER_02But he the problem with him is that Nolan. Nolan, but the problem with him is that his his um his face lends more to being like you know a villain.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. He got a villain.
SPEAKER_02He's got acting chops.
SPEAKER_03Oh no, that dude's a monster. Yeah, yeah. Like you gotta watch Oppenheimer, bro. When you see directors, Nolan is a obviously he's Nolan now. Yeah, yo. I don't know if this is true, but in Star Wars, they're talking about doing the Vader trilogy. I told you that. It's Nolan directing it, though. You didn't pay attention, man. You said Nolan was directing it? You did not say that. Don't add that cap down. I told him, yo, Vader was a good thing. But did you say Nolan was directing that's the part that got me? Christian Haydensen's.
SPEAKER_02It does matter. Christian Haydenson is Darth Vader's the greatest thing. Yeah, but Nolan's directing it, though. That's why I'm now happy to hear that. That's confirmed. I'm just happy to get it.
SPEAKER_03That might be better than the Dark Knight trilogy. I hope so.
SPEAKER_02I hope so.
SPEAKER_03I might bring Star Wars back.
SPEAKER_02He's confirmed.
SPEAKER_03I I don't know if what I saw was true. That's all I'm saying. So you just putting out fluff right now? Like Podcaster. This is pod right now.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, kind of pod. I got really excited just now.
SPEAKER_03Yo, yo, if Nolan does this, he he will bring Star Wars back if he does that.
SPEAKER_02Remember, Christian Hayden is older now, but if he can make this work. I think he's in a suit. I remember seeing him fight Rosario Dawson's version, whatever that game. And she was moving mad slow compared to him. He had to slow down hits. I'm like, this guy still got it. He took that role serious. All that sword work, he still got it. Oh man, let's stop playing with me.
SPEAKER_03Um can we talk about Marshallah Ali?
SPEAKER_02Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah. I heard I saw the interview.
SPEAKER_03He called um Kevin Feige. Well, Kevin Feige called himself this first, a loser. He said the greatest uh what fumble or the greatest mistake.
SPEAKER_02He says, I feel like a loser. Greatest mistake I made. He said, Yeah, I agree with you. Yeah. Because he played around with Maharsha Ali. That's classy. Well, for him to say that about himself? No, no, no.
SPEAKER_03For Ali to be like, yeah, you're right, you are a loser.
SPEAKER_02100%. Because Mahar Shal Ali in the um same um interview was like, yo, I I moved my family, I was training, they blew out his knee. Kept pushing it back, pushing it back. Blew out his knee, put his body in the line. He gave up other roles. Exactly. For Blaze. Isn't there not a union? There is, but um you still have to make your own choices. He did that to himself. He could have done other films. Um but you know, he allowed himself to stay on the string. But they still don't know why it didn't happen.
SPEAKER_03And um But he's applying that to his new film. Um he plays uh uh Muslim assassin.
SPEAKER_02I gotta see that film my way out. I don't even know. It is? I gotta watch it.
SPEAKER_03That's a propaganda film. I'm gonna watch it because Majors is in it.
SPEAKER_02But this is one of them is Hun Muslims, the other one is a Muslim assassin. You know what they're doing. Niggas need a bump. Why are they both black? They was like, yo, y'all can't do the Disney thing. We have some something else for you. You think this is listen, you think I'm just talking right now? This stuff has a pattern to it, dude. Like we it can only be one. I can't wait till y'all get up on game, man, and realize that none of this is by coincidence. That whole Feige thing is whatever. They told him, yo, you're never gonna do a blade movie. Now with martial art, we have something for martial art we need to do. You want to get black people excited for Kang and for this, and then like, nah. I want you to do propaganda against the Muslims.
SPEAKER_03But you see how fast Ryan Gosson got Ghost Rider done. That's what I'm saying. That's obvious, bro. That's crazy. It's obvious. Shout out to Ryan Gosselin though. Um man crush. No. I actually said the opposite. I didn't see the hype until I saw the movie. And then you had a man crush. No, I don't I don't go that far.
SPEAKER_02You said he was an attractive man, like he was handsome or pretty. No, I said I said I see the hype. No, you said something else. We're gonna go back to that.
SPEAKER_03I said I see Cast and Crude knows.
SPEAKER_02Y'all saw it. I remember that.
SPEAKER_03I did not call that man attractive. I said I see why people felt that he was attractive. You said he's attractive. I didn't know. I said he's an attractive man. Something like that. Oh, I probably said he's pretty. That's worse than saying he's probably some jail shit. This guy's jumping out the jail.
SPEAKER_02All right, I'm gonna let it go. This guy's something up. But yeah, uh, Marshall Ali, they um they dropped the ball on that. We wanted to see a blade. Although I will always say that Wesley Snipes, like he said in that film, Deadpool and Wolverine, um, there's only one blade. He called his shot and swish. But he really is. Uh I would have liked to see Marshall Lee's rendition. Yes, me too. But from what I heard, there was gonna be like a daughter.
SPEAKER_03He's probably some pet. He was about to die then in that movie. Yeah, it's all good. All right, um, before we get about here, quick anime corner. Um, there was this video floating around on Twitter. I tried to throw you that lock earlier, by the way. Not my fault. I'll get better. Smoke the loud. Happens. Not a lot. Maybe it's a LeBron. But yeah. Blake Griffin. Um, yeah, there's a there's a video of uh uh Alternate Universe Naruto where him and Shusu. How do you pronounce that nigga name? Shishwe. Shiswe. Do that? Don't disrespect the characters. Honestly, bro, that nigga's a filler character. No, he's fire. You're right, he's he's a little bit of a filler character. Come on, I hate when they do this. He's like, oh, he's stronger than Itachi. Yeah, nigga had three scenes. All right, um, yeah, but they they returned to the Leaf Village. They had uh Akashi coats on, I think. Yeah, yeah, they were Kotchi. They were they want some like yo. Instead of Itachi and Sasuke. Yeah, that was hard. And I think that Japanese media, especially with these legacy acts, the Naruto's the Dragon Ball Z's, the Bleach, the um I'm missing one. I didn't I didn't watch the One Piece. Anyway, asha, like the the ones that have been around for 10, 15, 20 years, instead of continuing the stories, borrow from Western comics and do alternate universes. I would love to see what would have happened if Garden ended until the exams. Who would have won? Let's play it out, let's do the tournament. You want my answer on that? Yeah. If Garden ended, um, I'm pretty sure. Who's left in it? So Naruto beat Neji. So it's Naruto. So it's Naruto. Sasuke slash Gara. Nah, but the who we given the win. Oh, yes. Nah, Gara. Yeah, it's Naruto, Sasuke. Who would have won? Shino. Oh, Shino. So Shino, Naruto, Sasuke, Gara.
SPEAKER_02Because the Naruto, Gara fight the man. I think Sasuke wins the whole thing then. Nah. You wanna know why? Because Gara, he he leveled up. He went full, you know, yeah, but he does, he doesn't do that in this. After he got hit. Yeah. But Sasuke punctured that defense and hit him. So without him morphing out, he dies. Or he's incapacitated. No, he loses. Now for Shino and Naruto, I think Shino actually wins that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think Shino wins the whole thing. How does Sasuke beat Shino? He hits him directly. No, no, yeah. Shino's a his he absorbs chakra. His bugs are gonna absorb. This nigga has like how many uh Sasuke. How many Chidoris can Sasuke do? Yeah, okay. Sasuke's gonna see the channel. And that's Chafe. We saw what happened to Gojo. That's Chafe.
SPEAKER_02This is not he can see the chakra, but oh this man had bugs. Yeah, okay. I'm a dude.
SPEAKER_03What?
SPEAKER_02Rush this name? And I'm gonna jump. Nah, I'm gonna hit you with a shit. Sasuke is Sasuke is nice.
SPEAKER_03She knows back. But you see, you see this discussion that we're having? Yeah. This is what they should have done. They should have given us alternate realities. By the way, in the future, She knows is doo-doo.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but that's they nerfed everybody. They nerfed everybody so bad. First of all. I told you I don't like Bartol. I'm fine with y'all making these new guys shit.
SPEAKER_03I'm Jack and Bartoto is better than Shipuden. That's how I feel. Shaputin was awful. Yeah, no, Shipuden was bad to me. Because the character development that we was on, the path we were on, it just nerfed. They nerfed which character outside of Naruto, Sasuke, and Kakashi did they not nerf?
SPEAKER_02You're right. You know who my favorite character is.
SPEAKER_03Who Itachi? No. Naruto? No. Payne? Dang, man. I thought we we'd had this conversation. Guy?
SPEAKER_02Neji. Oh, Neji, I'm so sorry. The way they nerfed Batman. He got killed like that. Y'all look really wild. Yeah, nah. Because he would have just. But they had to because if he stays alive, he's gonna get whatever that tensing gun is.
SPEAKER_03You're letting the rider off the hook when you say that. He has to. That's just what do you mean?
SPEAKER_02He has to get the tensing on? No, no. The fact that you're giving the writer off the top. No, I'm saying like that's why they did it. They killed him because they're like he allowed him to exist.
SPEAKER_03Tell the truth. It was just bad writing.
SPEAKER_02It is bad writing.
SPEAKER_03I agree. Yeah, let this nigga, man, man.
SPEAKER_02I agree. Let that nigga off the hook. The peak, though, the Suprudin wasn't bad. It got bad towards that stage where they started bringing in Kaguya.
SPEAKER_03Oh, they didn't know what to do, how to end the show. And they just kept adding a new bad guy.
SPEAKER_02Whoever wrote Attack on Titan, you need to go to his class because he did a phenomenal job. But anyway, he or she. But you're right. You're right. Um they should have, in an alternate universe, fleshed out that part. Like let's say that uh Chikaku never comes out. Naruto never has that first feat that makes him a hero. That that alone changed the path of Naruto.
SPEAKER_03Let me get some backstories. I want to see where I think would have win. Ashirama and his prime. How did he die? Exactly. Um where's the bloodline of the Senju?
SPEAKER_02Exactly. These are the questions we have.
SPEAKER_03Toby Rama. I want to see him. I want to see the Yellow Flash getting busy. I want to see um uh Kakashi's um the fourth ninja war. Yeah, just let's see what happened. Yeah, yeah. Give me either go backwards. Don't just the going forward. When you build this beautiful world, we have entry on how did we get here, as opposed to all right, we passed this. Now let's have they going to I'm Telling you, the Naruto is a space Odyssey now. Is the ninja shit is done. Baruto is about aliens.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they're buying.
SPEAKER_03That's what that shit is about. Shout out Dragon Balls.
SPEAKER_02They could have easily have branched off into so many possibilities. I wanted to see about the Super Universe on universes of or like story on story. Let's just not even focus on a leaf. Let's go talk about the Hidden Cloud Village, which is this village that we don't talk about.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I want to know about um Payne's uh village, uh Hidden in the Rain. Why do they look so futuristic? Steampunk. Fire.
SPEAKER_02Fire. It was a great design. Yeah. Um even if we just decide to follow the three legendary Sonning. That alone, what is a Sonine? How do you become one? Why is there only three? Chuny, Jonin, Hokage, Hokage, Sanin.
SPEAKER_03Are they the only Sonning in the world? Is it every village have one?
SPEAKER_02They were that nasty, the three of them. And then you see, like when you you see them later on, you're like, yo, I see why they're all great. Tsunari's kind of trash.
SPEAKER_03Nah, you see, you're always doing this. Why? What am I always doing? She's she's she's a sendju. You're right, she's direct sexy. Can't be trash. You wildin'. What's up with you?
SPEAKER_02Alright, so go over some of her feats then that make her like in comparison to Jariah, who fought pain by himself, and the only reason why he died is because he wasn't fighting.
SPEAKER_03When they were fighting the moderators, she was kind of the general. She was keeping everybody alive. She was keeping everybody alive. Who was really cooking? A no king. Come on. Particle style? That should have ended the whole show. Once they introduced it. Who could beat that guy?
SPEAKER_02Moderator.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, of course.
SPEAKER_02And the third rate Kage is him. He can't beat that man. The only thing I didn't like is we knew he was black, and they just made him mad angry all the time. Like stereotypes. Y'all wilding. But that's fine.
SPEAKER_03And they made the other black dude lazy. A rapper. Oh, one's lazy, one's a rapper, one's angry. Who's a lazy? Oh, uh Die? Yeah. Lazy. I think him and Shigamara was on. We're both lazy. You don't want to work either.
SPEAKER_02Both of them became kage, too. Yeah, lazy. Mad lazy. But you're right. They um that alternate universe thing could have been amazing. And what I liked about that anime, um, that AI is again, they give you like what should have happened because Naruto was rejected by the village his entire life. He should have been Sasuke. The third Hokage is the biggest, like, I don't even know what that was about. You notice the fourth Hokage. So you got living in an apartment eating ramen? I he should have.
SPEAKER_03When he came back to life, he should have, nah, me and you gotta fight.
SPEAKER_02There should have been the shoot, the shooting exam. Naruto loses to Shino. Sasuke wins the whole thing, and Sasuke's looking at Naruto. Yeah, you're a bum. The third Hokage goes to comfort Naruto, and Naruto tweaks out and kills the third Hokage. Runs off. Oh, we have to go get Naruto back. The same way they was chasing after Sasuke. Yeah, then it wouldn't have been gated. And Naruto turns into the third. That would have made way more sense. He busts out five tails, and Sasuke can't get him back. Years later, he's wearing that red and black. He's wearing it. Yeah, I'm a w- I'm with them. I'm with those guys. That would have been oh goodness. Cinema. That's why you gotta do it. I gotta do it. It's not my story.
SPEAKER_03What do you mean? It's not my story. Get on ChatGPT. Put in some prompt. Let's make it.
SPEAKER_02Might as well.
SPEAKER_03Put it out.
SPEAKER_02I'm changing a lot of things, though. Of course. So you know how you be like, you say like the son the sayings are black people? Which clan in the hidden leaf would be black people?
SPEAKER_03Um, from a historical standpoint, it'd probably be uh the Chia. Because niggas hated them. But now let's move away from that. What else?
SPEAKER_02What are the characteristics? I just want to hear what pick your brain on that.
SPEAKER_03I mean, Guy don't really have a clan, does he? He comes from a clan. Guy's clan? I like the eight gates thing.
SPEAKER_02You think so?
SPEAKER_03You think that's what we're about? I think we're on some like, we're not doing that witchcraft shit, nigga. We just gonna beat the witchcraft movement? We're just gonna beat you. Yeah, man. We just gonna open up some gates. Whooping ass.
SPEAKER_02I told you not to move.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. The way he hit Y'all kiss him. That was hard. That was one of my favorite fights in the whole thing. 100%. Yeah, that was fire. That was when he was he got serious. He was angry. He punched that dude in the chest hard. Packed him up. I told you not to move. Yeah, I like when niggas die, man. Which is cool. That's what I'm saying. He came back to life.
SPEAKER_02Cool.
SPEAKER_03Kiss him, didn't he die?
SPEAKER_02He died. No, no, he was in the he went to the That nigga ain't die.
SPEAKER_03Shark eat him or some shit like that. Didn't he kill himself?
SPEAKER_02He turned it to something, yeah.
SPEAKER_03I think his shark ate him.
SPEAKER_02Nah, his sword ate him, right? Some weird shit like that. His sword went to what's his name? That sword is trash. The design, I hated it. It was weird. Yeah, it was and it would like move.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it was sentient. It became sentient.
SPEAKER_02They should have just left it not scared. He hidden the sword, that's what it was. He went inside, which was weird too.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'd probably say uh hands and feet clan. Hands and feet. Guy, yeah. We're not doing all that. We're not I mean, we do the we be doing the gang side shit too. I was thinking more of Kakashi's clan. Which I have a Takake?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think that's what they call it. But I think two niggas. Nah, I think I think there's three. Who's the third one? I think Jarias. Nah. They all got the same red marks when they find it. Oh, the hair shit. The white hair. And if you noticed, um Kakashi would regularly go see Jarias. Because of that book, niggas is horny niggas. They they were the same person, you know, different derivatives. I think that they are relatives. And these are the things that they need to flesh out. Like people want to know the answer to that. You don't gotta outright say, oh yeah, that's his grand his grand uncle, but like drop hints that go, yeah, they use the same technique or whatever. If it brought that nigga back and borrowed, so by the way. Cool. Oh uh the clone. Yeah, he has the same gray hair. And there's another boy there who has gray hair and covers his face, too. So it's like, is that Kakashi's son? Like, y'all gotta I don't know why y'all trying to be mystique with it. People want to know this adds intrigue and with AI.
SPEAKER_03I think we could do it. I'm with you. Um, I think we did it though. I think we covered everything. I think it was good. I think we did a good job. Cousin Faith is fine.
SPEAKER_02She had me in a chokehold as a kid, I'm gonna be honest. That's beautiful, man. That scene was uh I didn't need to see that at that age. It did discard me in the best way.
SPEAKER_03I like how you did that in the best way. Alright, man, take a shot, brother. I knew I was a man that day.
SPEAKER_02Um, anyway. Thank you guys uh for tuning in once again.
