Jim and Amy Galligan-Keller Williams Real Estate Realtors Who Solve Real Problems
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Real estate decisions get loud fast: headlines, hot takes, and fear-driven advice that rarely matches what’s happening on your street. We wanted a clearer, more human look at the work behind buying and selling a home, so we brought on Amy and Jim Galligan of Keller Williams Real Estate. Their journey starts with a simple moment at a flea market and turns into 25 years of service across the Poconos and Lehigh Valley, helping more than 2,000 families make smart moves with less stress.
We dig into what Realtors actually do beyond showings: coordinating the moving parts, troubleshooting surprises, and keeping a deal together when emotions run high. Amy and Jim unpack common misconceptions, especially the idea that real estate is endlessly “flexible,” and why buyers should get mortgage pre-approval before touring homes. We also talk about today’s transitioning market and why “real estate is local” is more than a slogan. Even nearby neighborhoods can behave like totally different markets, and good advice has to match the local data and the client’s real goals.
You’ll also hear how they market listings at scale, pushing homes across 350+ platforms while still relying on the most powerful channel of all: long-term trust with past clients and referrals. Then we lighten it up with the real-life side of the job, from carving out time in the Poconos to seeing Pearl Jam dozens of times and yes, sometimes working from the merch line.
If you found this helpful, subscribe, share it with a neighbor who’s thinking about a move, and leave a review so more local listeners can find the show.
Welcome And Meet The Agents
SPEAKER_00This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Joe Longo.
SPEAKER_02Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast Live. Are you in need of a realiter? Well, one might be closer than you think. And today I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbors, Amy and Jim Gallaghan of Keller Williams Real Estate. Thank you both for being here today. How are you guys doing?
unknownGood.
SPEAKER_02We're great. Thanks for having us. Yeah, it's it's a pleasure to talk to you both. Thanks for taking the time. And we jump right in here at the Good Neighbor Podcast.
From Flea Market To Real Estate
SPEAKER_02We'd love to hear your story of how did you get involved in the real estate world?
SPEAKER_01Well, this journey started about 25 years ago. We were um both young parents uh working at a local flea market where who I kind of refer to as my Obi-Wan Kenobi, an older gentleman came up to me and saw me working, pitching a sales product that I was working, and used to mentor me and just kind of got me to understand that if I could sell a carpet cleaning product, why didn't I look into trying to help people buy and sell homes? And that just kind of started a journey that it is now 25 years strong, and we've been able to help over 2,000 families throughout the Poconos and Lehigh Valley over that journey.
Real Estate As Problem Solving
SPEAKER_02That's awesome. And can you tell us about what it is that you guys and obviously you're reloads, but but what is it that that you all do? Uh you know in a I guess in a bigger picture of things.
SPEAKER_01I think honestly, we help solve people's problems. And it's usually again around their largest investment and the roof over their family's head. So it's helping coordinate all the moving parts that go into buying and selling real estate. It's troubleshooting the challenges of that given market at that time, trying to overcome what might come up in a transaction. So this way the client can still move forward with their plan successfully. So I think at the end of the day, we help solve problems.
SPEAKER_02I'd love, I'd love that. Some problem solvers.
Misconceptions And The Changing Market
SPEAKER_02And in our current environment that we're in, what are some of the misconceptions in real estate?
SPEAKER_03Oh, I got this that it's flexible and that like realtors are not just sitting waiting for the phone to ring to jump and get their keys and go out and run out to your home. You really need to be pre-approved before you go out and look at a home. And, you know, we have to do some homework before we come out and take a look at your home if you're thinking of selling. So I think the flexible, you know, on television, sometimes it looks like, oh, I can just do whatever I want and I have this freedom. Uh, we work, you know, 60, 70, sometimes 80 hours a week. So it really isn't as flexible as I think some people think it is.
SPEAKER_01And and in a market right now that's changing from what was a historical boom market that was a moment in time, to a market that's transitioning and still trying to figure out what it's gonna be. It's navigating the emotions that come into play, the ch just the challenges of trying to get their goals accomplished. So no two markets are ever the same. Real estate's always local to that local demographic, the local economy, and again goes back to solving problems.
SPEAKER_02And I would imagine it's always changing. Yes, yes.
Marketing Homes On 350 Platforms
SPEAKER_02So, in that space of this ever-evolving world that we live in, and marketing is such a huge part of our business, what are you guys doing to market and attract your potential clients, buyers, sellers? Sure.
SPEAKER_01Fortunately, you know, we're we're 25 years into this, so a lot of brand recognition has been built over time through trust, through repeat business, word of mouth. So we're always staying in touch and engaging our past clients, our sphere, people that we've met with over the years that maybe weren't ready at that time. And then when we're marketing a property, we have a marketing director as a member of our team, and we're prominently marketing it out there on over 350 platforms, sites to get that home in front of the right buyer audience. Because if if you market it correctly, the buyers will find you because they see that home that caught their eye. But much of our day is is staying engaged with people that we've met with before, helped in the past to let them know that we're here whenever they have a question, whenever they have a need.
SPEAKER_02Have you ever thought about having your own podcast and talking about the world of real estate?
SPEAKER_03I don't know if I want to talk about all the stuff that goes on every day in real estate. I don't know. And it seems like I have to disclaim a lot of disclosures everywhere. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01No, I mean it's something that we haven't really thought about just because again, the time that we invest into what we're doing now would be really tough to do it effectively if we were just kind of doing it when we had time to fit it in.
SPEAKER_02Right, right.
Life Outside Work And The Poconos
SPEAKER_02So when you aren't always working, what are you guys doing for fun?
SPEAKER_01Um well, we we do enjoy spending time together, so we try to carve out some time where we get to whether it's going to local flea markets, we're big baseball fans, whether it's going to games, going to rock concerts, you know, just trying to still stay in in touch with who we are outside of you know the real estate world. Um, so it's just trying to do things around the area that we kind of take for granted sometimes, you know, just being so busy working. Sometimes you take for granted the beauty that's even around us in the Bocanos.
SPEAKER_02Right, exactly. It's so easy to get lost and forget about it when we're living our our daily life. And then we look out the window and it's like, oh, the leaves are finally back.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_02That's so great.
Pearl Jam Stories And Work Flexibility
SPEAKER_02And I have to ask, being a huge music lover, um, and you said going to rock concerts, what's your what's the favorite concert that that you guys have been to? And probably a very hard question.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we've I mean we've seen Pearl Jam over 30 times together. Um go out, you know, we try to gear around when they're hitting the road. And last spring we were able to go see them in five different locations, and you know, just again try to depends on who's on tour and who's coming around, but Pearl Jam is the band that we've gone and seen over 30 times together.
SPEAKER_03And it's easy to work from the merch line. Uh, so our job is a little flexible in that way that you can answer phone calls and work on your laptop while you're waiting in line.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's awesome. And I have to say I am absolutely a huge Pearl Jam fan as well. And uh little side story, I'm also a photographer, and a long, long time, many, many years ago, I used to photograph music. And just as like a what's the worst they can do is say, no, I'm gonna submit a pass to go photograph Pearl Jam, thinking that they were not going to approve that request, and they totally did. And it was one of the best experiences to be like, you know, this far away from them and see it. Oh man, those guys, those guys, I love them. I love
Community First Advice You Can Trust
SPEAKER_02them. So if you can tell our listeners one thing that you would like them to remember about you and Keller Williams real estate.
SPEAKER_01You know, we're here again, we're here to help, and we are members of the community, and we don't take the trust of the community lightly. It's uh helping uh build the community one family at a time. And you know, we're we're we're busy agents, but we're never too busy to answer questions, we're never too busy to to give advice, to help just give real insights so people can make those decisions based off of real in info instead of just the the headlines or the you know the the doomsday national news that they hear around the market. It markets always local, and every market's different, even within the same market. You could have different markets within that market. So we're here to give advice, we're here to give real insight, and we're never too busy to be a resource.
SPEAKER_02Wonderful. And what's the best way that our listeners can find you?
