I’m Jake Kelly, a firefighter-paramedic in fire and EMS, and I’m building Call Residue for the parts of this work that don’t fade when the shift ends. I share why I’m doing this, what I’ve lived through, and why I believe you’re not alone in sobriety, trauma, and hard lessons.

  •  turning a lifelong stutter into a reason to speak
  •  introducing my background in fire, EMS, and recovery
  •  focusing on sobriety struggles in paid and volunteer first responder   roles
  •  naming job trauma and the “dark place” many people hide
  •  protecting privacy with true stories and changed details

So grab your coffee and let's get to it.

From Stutter To Podcast

SPEAKER_00

So, what does a guy do when he spends 15 years in speech therapy for a stutter that he still has issues with? Well, of course, he starts a podcast. My name's Jake Kelly, and this is Call Residue. I'm a father, a son, a husband, and a firefighter, a paramedic with 16 years in fire and EMS in various capacities. I have an undergrad in alcohol and drug psychology with about eight and a half years of sobriety myself. This podcast is for anyone in the first responder capacity, paid or volunteer struggling with sobriety, traumas of on the job, and life's hard lessons. I've been divorced, remarried, and have been in that dark place before. And trust me, you are not alone. The stories are true, the names and places have been changed. So grab your coffee and let's get to it. Thanks for tuning in.
