Hi friends, welcome to Matthew 4.4. I'm your host, Winifer. Today we're going to talk about breaking generational curses. And we're going to start in the book of Samuel. 1 Samuel chapter 2, verse 12 through 17. It says Now the sons of Eli were wicked. They had respect neither for the Lord nor for the priest's duties toward the people. When someone offered a sacrifice, the priest's servants would come with a three pronged fork while the meat was still boiling, and would thrust it into the basin kettle, cauldron, or pot. Whatever the fork brought up, the priest would peek. That is how all the Israelites were treated, who came to the sanctuary at Shiloh. In fact, even before the fat was burned, the priest's servant would come and say to the man offering the sacrifice, give me some meat to roast for the priest. He will not accept boiled meat from you only raw meat. And if the man protested to him, let the fat be burned first as is the custom, then take whatever you wish, he would reply. Thus the young man sinned grievously in the presence of the Lord. They treated the offerings to the Lord with disdain. Let's continue with verse eighteen. Meanwhile the boy Samuel, girt with a linen apron, was serving in the presence of the Lord. His mother used to make a little garment for him which she would bring him each time she went up with her husband to offer this customary sacrifice. And Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife as they were leaving for home. He would say, May the Lord repay you with children from this woman for the gift she has made to the Lord. The Lord favored Hannah so that she conceived and gave birth to three more sons and two daughters, while young Samuel grew up in the service of the Lord. Verse twenty two This is talking about Eli, he's gonna be rebuked. While Eli was very old, he heard repeatedly how his sons were treating all Israel and that they were having relations with the women serving at the entry of the meeting tent. So he said to them, Why are you doing such things? No, my sons, you must not do these things. It is not a good report that I hear the people of the Lord spreading about you. If a man sins against another man, one can intercede for him with the Lord, but if a man sins against the Lord, who can intercede for him? But they disregarded their father's warning, since the Lord had decided on their death, meanwhile young Samuel was growing in stature and in worth in the estimation of the Lord and of men. Now we're gonna continue still first Samuel chapter two, and we're at verse twenty-seven. We're gonna read twenty-seven through thirty-six. A man of God came to Eli and said to him, This is what the Lord says. I went so far as to reveal myself to your father's family when they were in Egypt as slaves to the house of Pharaoh. I chose them out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priests, to go up to my altar to burn incense and to hear and to wear the ephi, excuse me. Before me and I assigned all the oblations of the Israelites to your father's family. Why do you keep a greedy eye on my sacrifices and on the offerings which I have prescribed? And why do you honor your sons in presence of in preference of me? Fattening yourselves with the choiciest part of every offering of my people Israel. This therefore is the oracle of the Lord the God of Israel. I said in the past that your family and your father's family should minister in my presence forever. But now the Lord declares, Away with this, for I will honor those who honor me, but those who spurn me shall be accursed. Yes, the time is coming while I will break your strength and the strength of your father's family, so that no man in your family shall reach old age. You shall witness as a disappointed rival all the benefits enjoyed by Israel, but there shall never be an old man in your family. I will permit some of your family to remain in my at my altar, excuse me, to wear out their eyes in consuming greed. But the rest of the men of your family shall die by the sword. You shall have a sin, you excuse me, you shall have a sign, and what will happen to your two sons, Hophni and Phineas. Both shall die on the same day. I will choose a faithful prince, I will choose a faithful priest, excuse me, I gotta slow down, who shall do what I have in heart and mind. I will establish a lasting house for him, which shall function in the presence of my anointed forever. Then whoever is left of your family will come to grovel before him for a piece of silver or a loaf of bread will say, Appoint me, I beg you, to a priestly function, that I may have a morsel of bread to eat. Thus, Eli's family was cursed because of the evil that they were doing in the sight of God, their disobedience towards him, and him not really putting his hand down and just putting his foot down and letting them know you cannot do this. Okay? There are some of us that we allow our children just to run rampant and to harm others. Some of us go around hurting people for no reason, and we're damned for behaving like that. You don't know sometimes who you come in contact with, and you have invoked a curse on your bloodline. It's not just about what you do to one another and who you favor, you have to learn how to allow God to reign inside of you and tell you and show you what you should be doing. You can't force other people to go along with something that you know is evil, and once you get to the point where you really are not able to recognize it's evil, that's a bad sign. Because there's no turning back from that. There isn't. When you can't even distinguish between discern, like that spirit of discernment has been taken away because you just ignore it, you become someone that you believe is privileged. Some people they get praised on how they present the word of God, and then so many people have been delivered from things that had them in bondage, and instead of them giving glory to God, you know, automatically they're gonna praise the pastor, the first lady, whoever it is, the bishop, the missionaries. Yeah, they're gonna praise you, but you gotta always remember all of this power and might and glory, it belongs to God. And when our children are doing things that are hurting others, you have got to pray. When you see that they won't listen to you, we have to pray and ask God for change. We do. When he was given that, that means God probably has said over and over and over and over and over and over again, you know when God, I know I do, I know when God is asking me to stop doing something. Because I have done something five years ago, I did something that was horrible in the sight of God, and he told me, you cannot do that, and he did not say it in an audible voice, but he made me aware in my spirit that what I was doing was not good in his sight, and he didn't give me a choice whether or not I wanted to do this instead of that, he flat out said, Stop it, don't do that anymore.
SPEAKER_00Because it's wrong.
SPEAKER_01I stopped, but the individual that was in cahoots with me want to continue carrying on like that even to this day. This person thinks that I'm just I don't know, I I can't even fathom getting into their mind. But I do know when God show me them, they have themselves over me in the spirit as as if they put themselves as Lord over me. And you can't do that. And because I won't be obedient and do what they want me to do, then they do things that will let me know they didn't they're not saying I'm gonna punish you, but they'll cause things to happen that doesn't go in my favor.
SPEAKER_00And then I get upset with God.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, why is this continuing to happen? I remember this person said, God don't play about them. And I I was so upset, I'm like, God, I can tell you don't play about this person because you continue to let them harm me. And again, he let me know. First of all, don't talk to me like that. He didn't say that. He let me know, don't say that. I don't play about you either. But it's something I'm trying to teach you. Yes, you stopped doing the deed that I said was sinful. What I he wanted me to know is even though the individuals continue to persist with the behavior that they want to continue, what he was trying to do is show that person you need to stop also. He hardened that person's heart. That's what he told me.
SPEAKER_00Similar to what he did with Pharaoh. There's a lesson that he's teaching.
SPEAKER_01When you find yourself engaged in behaviors and activities that go against the will of God, and you have your Bible, that's your blueprint. And not only do you have your Bible, Numbers chapter 12 is evidence that God is there with us. He knows, he sees everything, and he'll also tell you flat out, that's not something that I want you to do. What you're doing is wrong. He'll let you know that, and you can't resist him. It says, let's first read verse one. It says, While they were in Hazaroth, Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses on the pretext of the marriage he had contract contracted with a Kushai woman. They complained, is it through Moses alone the Lord speaks? Does he not speak through us also? And the Lord heard this. He knows when we are doing things that are not appropriate, and we will be punished. I want to go on to say also Verse four tells us this is still Numbers chapter twelve. So at once the Lord said to Moses and Aaron and Miriam, Come out, you three, to the meeting tent, and the three of them went. Then the Lord came down in the column of cloud, and standing at the entrance of the tent called Aaron and Miriam. When both came forward he said, Now listen to the words of the Lord. Should there be a prophet among you, in visions will I reveal myself to him, in dreams will I speak to him. Not so with my servant Moses, throughout my house he bears my trust. Face to face I speak to him, plainly and not in riddles. The presence of the Lord he beholds. Why then did you not fear to speak against my servant Moses? Not only to speak against someone or to even do something that goes against God's will. And then you want to continue to do it. Verse nine says, So angry was the Lord against them that when he departed, and the cloud withdrew from the tent. There was Miriam, a snow white leper. When Aaron turned and saw her a leper, oh my Lord, he said to Moses, please do not charge us with the sin that we have foolishly committed.
SPEAKER_00You have to be careful. You do.
SPEAKER_01Let's just continue here when we're doing sinful things. Let's go to 1 Samuel chapter 3, verse 1 through 20. This is the breaking of curses. During the time young Samuel was ministered to the Lord under Eli, a revelation of the Lord was uncommon and vision infrequent. One day Eli was asleep in his usual place. His eyes had lately grown so weak that he could not see. The lamp of God was not yet extinguished, and Samuel was sleeping in the temple of the Lord where the ark of God was. The Lord called to Samuel, who answered, Here I am. He ran to Eli and said, Here I am, you called me. I did not call you, Eli said, Go back to sleep. So he went back to sleep. Again the Lord called Samuel, who rose and went to Eli. Here I am, he said, You called me. But he answered, I did not call you my son. Go back to sleep. At that time Samuel was not familiar with the Lord, because the Lord had not revealed anything to him as yet. The Lord called Samuel again for the third time. Getting up and going to Eli, he said, Here I am, you called me. Then Eli understood that the Lord was calling the youth. So he said to him, Go to sleep, and if you are called, reply, Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening. When Samuel went to sleep in his place, the Lord came and revealed his presence, calling out as before Samuel. Samuel, Samuel answered, Speak for your servant is listening. The Lord said to Samuel, I am about to do something in Israel that will cause the ears of everyone who hears it to ring. I got this revelation from God also, not about Israel, is concerning a minister and his children, especially his sons and his wives. He has a current wife, but he's had two previous wives. The behavior is so troubling. Witchcraft, sorcery, spiritual rake. And there are others that are attached to them. Receiving the incorrect teachings, the inability to try to guide the family, his family, in a way that is pleasing to the Lord our God.
SPEAKER_00Harming others for no reason except for his sin.
SPEAKER_01Some people will not repent for their sin, depending on how high they are, how esteemed they are in the community.
SPEAKER_00They won't. It's an ego. It's an ego. And they play God.
SPEAKER_01When the Holy Ghost comes upon you, He gives you gifts. You receive strength through the Lord.
SPEAKER_00And you are able to do some things that may appear to be and are supernatural. And those are gifts that God equips us with.
SPEAKER_01Not to be handled recklessly or as if they are ours. They belong to the Lord. When I say the Lord, the God that I served is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Some of us believe that we're serving the same Lord we are not. Some of us have been handed over to the devil because of our resistance to change.
SPEAKER_00And change comes through repentance.
SPEAKER_01I want to turn to Acts over here. Acts chapter nine. Give me a chance to get to that. Sorry for just a little bit of delay here. Acts chapter nine. It says, Now Saul, still breathing murderous threats against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, that if he should find any men or women who belonged to the way, he might bring them back to Jerusalem in chains. On his journey, as he was nearing Damascus, a light from the sky suddenly flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? He said, Who are you? The reply came, I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. Now get up and And go into the city, and you will be told what you must do. The men who were traveling with him stood speechless, for they heard the voice but could not see. Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could see nothing. So they led him by the hand and brought him to Damascus. For three days he was unable to see, and he neither ate nor drank. And during the time that he was there, he was on his way, Jesus spoke with a man named Ananias. And he told Ananias that he was going to have him meet this man at a certain location, and that he wanted him to lay his hands on his eyes. Okay. Lay his hands on him. He didn't say eyes, that's what he said. And so when he did, just as the Lord had asked him. But before he did it, he was trying to get the Lord now. Do you know who this man is? Because he told him what his name was. And he was trying Ananias was trying to let the Lord know. He was so evil. He was on his way to harm people right there. And the Lord stopped him and he let him know. And see, a gossiper cannot tarry in the sight of God. But this man, Ananias, was obedient. He's a man of God. He's a prophet. He listened to what the Lord had to say. And he did just what he said. God let him know that he was going to use him to bring the Gentiles and different ones into the kingdom of God. Sometimes that doesn't matter to people. It doesn't. And when you try to tell them and you don't look like especially the ones that are disobedient, because there are people that are so disobedient in the word of God, they see you as a new child in Christ. You're a baby. And you may be, you still can hear what they got to say. Because maybe that's the one that God is able to save you through the baby in Christ. Okay. All right, so it says the Lord has sent me, He this is Ananias letting Saul know, which we know him as Paul. That the Lord has sent him there. Jesus, who appeared to you on the way by which you came, that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Immediately things like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. And listen what he said he did. He got up and was baptized. And when he had eaten, he recovered his strength. It goes on to say he stayed some days with the uh disciples in Damascus, and he began at once to proclaim Jesus in the synagogues that he is the Son of God, the very place where he was heading to have people arrested so they could be beaten, even stoned to death. Well, there are some of us that will not relent. We won't allow the Lord to work in us like that. And therefore, he does what he's see the example here, Eli and his signs. Now, let's go on over here to 1 Samuel chapter 4. And let's read 1 through 22. This is gonna let us know about the death and the prophecy that was foretold to Eli about his bloodline, that it was cursed. Okay. It says at the time the Philistines gathered for an attack in Israel. Israel went out to engage them in battle and encamped at Ebenezer. While the Philistines camped at Ethek, the Philistines then drew up in battle formation against Israel. After a fierce struggle, Israel was defeated by the Philistines, who slew about 4,000 men on the battlefield. When the troops retired to the camp, the in the elders of Israel said, Why has the Lord permitted us to be defeated today by the Philistines? Let us fetch the ark of the Lord from Shiloh, that it may go into battle among us and save us from the grasp of our enemies. Now, did they consult with the Lord? And they get ready to go and grab up the ark and take it out there on the battlefield of all places. Now that ain't nothing but disobedience. Only thing they had to do was ask God. Just like when God said he was gonna punish me, and he is. Only thing I had to ask, I only thing I needed to do was just ask him. Ask God instead of following along with what the other believers were saying. Because I, most likely, was the one that the Lord was gonna use to put a stop to it all. They can't do that with me anymore, no matter how persistent, how violent, how destructive they act, how they speak against me. She's dumb. She's stupid. And she's ignorant. And I don't do anything to even try to make it any better. But I tell you what, I will not be punished for any more disobedience of being a follower against the wow with the wows of the devil. I'm not gonna do that.
SPEAKER_00I'm not gonna participate in that kind of behavior ever again. Because do you know what lives inside of me?
SPEAKER_01The Holy Spirit, and I will not make the Holy Spirit uncomfortable. Now verse 4 goes on to say, So the people sent to Shiloh and brought from there the Ark of the Lord of hosts, who is enthroned upon the cherubim. The two sons of Eli, Haphni and Phineas, were with the Ark of God. When the Ark of the Lord arrived in the camp, all Israel shouted so loudly that the earth resounded. The Philistines, hearing the noise of shouting, asked, What can this loud shouting in the camp of the Hebrews mean? On learning that the Ark of the Lord had come into the camp, the Philistines were frightened. They said, God have come to their camp. They said also, Woe to us, this has never happened before. Woe to us, who can deliver us from the power of these mighty gods? These are the gods that struck the Egyptians with various plagues and with pestilence. Take courage and be manly. Philistines, otherwise you will become slaves to the Hebrew. As they were as they were your slaves, so fight manually manfully, sorry. The Philistines fought and Israel was defeated. Every man fled to his own tent. It was a disastrous defeat in which Israel lost thirty thousand foot soldiers. The Ark of the Lord was captured, and Eli's two sons, Hofni and Phineas, were among the dead. If you already saw that the battle was against you and God is usually there with you, you knew right there he was against that occurring anyhow. And then you were gonna not even make it any better. They didn't consult with the Lord, they consulted with one another. That's the thing about some ministries. They have someone that is a man or woman of God. Yes, they have the anointing of the Lord on them, but they continue to consult with that person. You're not realizing whose anointed power is that inside of them, around them, with them. Oh, when she touches me, when she prayed for me, that's God.
SPEAKER_00You have to remember to ask.
SPEAKER_01And while I'm sitting there minding my own business, a man comes, he's like, I'm coming over there to myself. What for? He got his papers out and everything, and the Lord's like, don't have nothing to do with that, and so he comes over and I'm like, I'm not interested in that. You have a good day. Oh, and just carrying on a fit, and all of a sudden I begin to speak in tongues. I don't just like to me, speaking in tongues, you have the gift of utterance. Some people go overboard with it because there's no one, I don't know of anyone. I'm not saying there's no one on this planet because it's got to be. If you don't know how to interpret what's being said, I'm not saying because the Lord dealt with me before with this, let the people speak in tongues. But if you just carrying on and just speaking in tongues, because that's a prayer to God, and you don't know who is saying what, and all of y'all are doing it at the same time, some of them might actually be invoking curses. I honestly think when I began to speak in tongues, a curse was placed on that man because of his behavior towards me. I told him I wasn't interested in supporting his business, and I wasn't.
SPEAKER_00I didn't want him coming near me.
SPEAKER_01I don't mind reading what you have, but if something tells me stay away from that, I'm gonna stay away from it. I don't want to be entangled in that kind of behavior. And for some strange reason, he thought that I was gonna call the police on him. My eyebrows, I had them crinkled. Like, what? That was him allowing Satan to control him. He just went on and on. I'm not leaving. I'm like, no one cares if you leave or not, don't come near this car. Because even though I do, I didn't tell him this. But see what I'm thinking, they were not cute, pure thoughts. I'm thinking, you know, while you come near this, you're gonna feel the wrath of this crowbar. I said, I'm not going to help you with that. I don't want to be a part of that. Well, I'm staying here. Not a problem. I just began to play my game. I like to play Candy Crush, and I just continued to play my crush, my candy crush. And I and then all of a sudden he walked away. And a lady came up and he began to complain about me to her. And I say, and I am. That's I'm everything he says I am. Oh my god, I don't even know you. But whatever you say, whatever the devil has revealed about me to you, so it be. But I still say I'm not supporting what you have on that paper, and you're not going to make me. Well, I'm gonna wait right here until the police comes. I just continue to click and move my little stuff so that I could play my little game. And then I guess he figured it was gonna take so long, he went on into the bar. There's a bar next to the wash house. You guys call it the laundromat to the wash house. And I went, came back out because I wanted to check my clothes. I had two minutes I've got to put it in the dryer. And when I came back out, he was gone. And then I went and sat and waited for my dryer to stop. And the woman that was in cahoots with him, she was putting her things in the washer, and she sees that I was there to do my laundry. I saw a spirit of condemnation drop down on her shoulders where she was standing up proud, she was slunked. That was an attack on me. And she saw, and I was I I didn't even feel pity for her. I felt nothing. Put my stuff in the laundry and everything, and then there comes this couple. I'm like, oh goodness, here we go again. But that was wrong of me to think that to myself. And so I'm like, excuse me. And I went through and checked on my dryer. And when I was coming out, she's like, Can you help me? So I help her to make sure that she was putting her fabric softener in the correct spot. And she was telling me, shaking her head, and she was happy, like, thank you, thank you, thank you. And I'm like, You're welcome. That was God letting me know. Sorry about that hiccup behind them, but you did the right thing. Do not support wickedness, no matter how they carry on and act out, because that's not the will of God for us. Anyhow, what we're gonna witness here is Hofney and Phineas, they're dead now because they were disobedient. They moved the Ark of the Covenant. There was a time back when they were moving the covenant, I mean the Ark. And maybe we haven't gotten that far yet. No, no, no, no, no. They were moving the Ark and the men died. You know, you gotta stop that. You can't move through and do whatever you want to do. You cannot. Well, they reached out to touch it so that it wouldn't fall, and that was a no-no. He tells you, touch not my anointed. Even though we're in the Old Testament, we need to know this stuff. You can't touch it. You can't touch that, you can't move it around and do it, make it what you want it to be, to suit whatever your need is. Okay. All right, let's continue with still we're in 1 Samuel chapter 4, but we're over here at chapter 12. I mean, verse 12, I'm sorry. Chapter 4, verse 12. Okay. Because right now, something's getting ready to happen to Eli. And I want you to reflect on it and think about, because you you already know the story. Most of you have read this before, but think about what happened to him and why. And remember, Hoffney and Phineas, they're dead now. But watch what happens to Eli and the reasoning behind it, okay? A Benjamite fled from the battlefield and reached Shiloh that same day with his clothes torn and his head covered with dirt. When he arrived, Eli was sitting in his chair beside the gate watching the road, for he was troubled at heart about the ark of God. The man, however, went into the city to divulge his nick his news, which put the whole city in an uproar. Hearing the outcry of the men standing near him, Eli inquired, What does this commotion mean? Eli was eighty eight years old, and his eyes could not focus, so that he could not see. The man quickly came up to Eli and said, It is I who have come from the battlefield. I fled from there today, he said. I fled from there today. He asked, What happened to my son? And the messenger answered, Israel fled from the Philistines. In fact, the troops suffered heavy losses. Your two sons, Hoffni and Philip Phinehas, are among the dead, and the Ark of God has been captured. At this moment, at this mention, excuse me, of the Ark of God, Eli fell backward from his chair into the gateway, which he was, since he was an old man and heavy, he died of a broken neck. He had judged Israel for 40 years. And that's something it said, he fell and broke his neck, not because he heard the news about Phineas and Paphni. He died when he heard about what happened with the Ark of the Covenant. Okay. His daughter-in-law, the wife of Phineas, was with child and at the point of giving birth. When he heard the news concerning the capture of the ark, when she heard the news concerning the capture of the ark and the deaths of her father-in-law and her husband, she was seized with pangs of labor and gave birth. She was about to die when the woman standing around her said to her, Never fear, you have given birth to a son. Yet she neither answered nor paid any attention. She named the child Ichabab, saying, Gone is the glory from Israel, with reference to the capture of the Ark of God and to her father-in-law and her husband. She said, Gone is the glory from Israel, because the Ark of God had been captured. Yes. You know, when you allow so much hardness of your heart, and you just allow your children to carry on, and you don't ask God to help, there's a consequence. All right, his daughter-in-law knew what had already been foretold about the bloodline. It was cursed. Now, how to prevent this from happening to you and me and our bloodlines. We got to pray for deliverance from the strongholds that God reveals to us when He's telling us and showing us things that we are doing and what we are allowing to occur. We got to remember. Let's pray over that. We got to speak blessings and life over our bloodline. We also have to ask God what areas you and I may have been disobedient or our children. Okay. Because we're not always doing his will. Sometimes we may think we are, but we're not always doing his will. Once you are saved and forgiven, you're not perfect. You're not. You continue to sin. That's why you have to speak blessings. You gotta repent. Ask God to forgive you for things you don't even know. If someone even comes to you and they try to get you to understand, you know, you did something to me. No, I didn't. You did acknowledge what they're saying, even if you're not aware of it, and ask God to wipe that away from you and show you the areas which you can improve in. Ask God for positive change. That is his will, not yours, mine, or the people around us. Okay. Ask him for scripture. And once you begin to receive the scripture where it comes into remembrance, speak it daily over you and your bloodline. Okay. And remember, let's go over to Ephesians 6, verse 10 through 17. Because that's something that can sum it all up for us. Okay? Where we can know what to do. Because some people just think, whatever. It it's we're we're good. We saved. It says Ephesians 6, verse 10. Finally, draw your strength from the Lord and from his mighty power. Put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the devil. For our struggle is not with flesh and blood, but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens, therefore put on the armor of God that you may be able to resist on the evil day, and having done everything to hold your ground. So stand fast with your loins girded in truth, clothed with righteousness as a breastplate, and your feet shod in readiness, for the gospel of peace, in all circumstances hold faith as a shield, to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one, and take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. Seriously. Ask it. Do what it tells you. You don't know how. Ask, and it will be given to you. And ask in the name of Jesus.
SPEAKER_00And he'll break all those chains. The enemy keep trying, trying, trying.
SPEAKER_01Well, I want to wrap it up with verse 19 for me and my children. And also for me, that speech may be given me to open my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, so that I may have the courage to speak as I must. I ask that in Jesus' name. Stay blessed. Amen.
