You’ve heard me talk about rewiring your brain in previous episodes. I finally explain what I mean by that by helping you understand what your subconscious mind is and how it’s controlling the life you live.

Hello, gorgeous souls, and welcome back to the Beauty and Positivity Podcast. My name is Alyssa Skinner, and today we're going to talk about the subconscious mind. We are going to get in the nitty-gritty of the science of the brain to help you understand why you're experiencing what you want or don't want in your life. Okay. I talk about the subconscious mind in lots of previous episodes. I talk about it online, and I was kind of thinking, you girls are probably like, what is a subconscious mind? And what do you mean it's controlling my reality? No, it's not. I'm controlling my reality. So we're gonna talk about it. And I do go in depth in this in mind babe academy because you can't simply learn everything and change it and rewire your brain through one podcast episode. Okay, it takes time, it takes sitting down, it takes getting starting from point A and then going all the way to point D. Okay. So the course is a lengthy course because it helps you get in there to see what have my subconscious beliefs have been, who gave them to me, let's release them and let's give my subconscious mind new beliefs. So today's goal is to help you understand what the subconscious mind is so that you can start changing what it believes because your subconscious mind is controlling 95% of what you experience in life. I'll say that again. Your subconscious mind is deciding 95% of what you experience in life. Your conscious mind, your awareness, your conscious right now, only has control of 5% of your life. That is incredibly low. And it seems untrue, right? You're like, I'm conscious, I am consciously choosing to get up and go to work every day. I'm consciously choosing to do the work or to not do the work. I consciously choose to go to the gym or not go to the gym, but it's only 5%. Okay, so we're gonna get into it. It sounds insane because you're conscious right now and you feel completely aware, but that's the thing. Your conscious is your awareness and it's only aware of 5%, okay? Your subconscious is under the surface, which means it's you're completely unaware of it. Unaware. That's why it seems untrue that it's controlling 95% of your life because you're unaware of it. You don't feel it, you don't feel it thinking, deciding, believing certain beliefs. It's under the surface, and you don't even know what it believes about the world. That's why in my last episode, I said your life is a mirror. Your life is showing you what you believe. Your life is showing you what your subconscious mind believes. Okay, it's deep, it's heavy, it's a lot, it's hard to accept in the beginning. So we're gonna get into it. Trust me, I looked at my life at one point and I was like, F that. That's not true. I would never choose this, but just hear me out, okay? Stay till the end of the episode. So your subconscious mind is like a gigantic storage unit, okay? And it holds all your memories since you entered the world. It holds all your beliefs, okay, all your past experiences, including the uh beliefs others give you. It holds everything. So your subconscious mind, you're you're actually born with it. So you are simply a subconscious mind from ages zero to seven. You do not have a conscious mind until you turn seven. Your conscious mind is your awareness, your ability to critical think, your logic, okay? And this is partly the explanation of why kids are so blunt and honest, right? Sometimes they're kind of ruthless, but they don't have the conscious awareness to critical think, use logic, think before speaking and acting, think before crossing the street. They need that guidance, okay? They are simply a walking subconscious mind, and the subconscious mind is a sponge. Okay, so your subconscious mind being a sponge can be good or bad depending on where you grow up and who you grow up with, but you're not stuck with it. You are never stuck with it, and nothing's ever permanent. So this is our silver lining. So from ages zero to seven, you are literally a walking sponge. Your subconscious mind is completely under the surface and it's your unawareness, but it's controlling your life experience. It's absorbing everything in your experience. What people around you believe to be true about the world, right? You're hearing them talk about it, you're hearing, you're watching them experience it, and you're just a child, and you're like, that must be true about the world. You're watching people around you um create their beliefs about themselves, and you're like, well, that must be true. When you get old, you're miserable, you know, whatever you grew up seeing. And you're watching people around you um decide what's true about the world. Again, you're just you're taking this in as truth. You're you're an innocent little subconscious mind and you're just absorbing it all like a sponge. Your environment is literally giving you your beliefs about who you are, what you're capable of experiencing or not, and what's likely that you will experience out of life. It's giving you your expectations about the world and what your life will be like. If you watched everyone go to work Monday through Friday, it's likely you go to work Monday through Friday. It's if you watched people have a lack of freedom because you have to go to work to pay for your house, right? You have to go to work to pay for your food, it is very likely you believe that to be true. And that's the life you live. You are simply mirroring the people before you, the people that taught you what to expect out of the world, what's true about the world. So if you do not learn any of this information, what we're talking about today, the scientific facts of our brain, you will never get to choose your own life. If you don't sit here and try to understand your brain, you will never choose your own beliefs. You will never experience what you want to experience in this life. That is terrifying. You will forever be operating on someone else's limiting beliefs, someone else's limiting themselves and their experiences and their identity, and you turn it into your own. You take it as truth. That's absolutely terrifying to me. I want to choose my own life, and I hope you do too. And we can. Great news. So until you learn how to choose your subconscious beliefs, which means you first have to figure out what they are, learn how to break them down, tell your body it's safe to release them so that we can build new subconscious beliefs, things we want to be true about ourselves, about the world. If you don't do this work, you're running on your parents or your guardians or your teacher in fourth grade or the friends you had in the past. You're running on their experience, their beliefs. None of it is your own. This is why some people appear to be luckier than others in the world, because we grow up in completely different households with completely different beliefs about the world, beliefs about what happens to them, completely different identities, right? Some of us are receiving subconscious beliefs that we're just lucky. We were born into wealth and we'll always be wealthy. Things just work out for us. Other people have to work hard, but not us. You're loved exactly the way you are because you never have to change. You are never the chaser in the relationship. You are only chased in the relationship. You don't have to work. Hard work doesn't equal success. You make money while you sleep because your parents make money while they sleep, right? Or other children are growing up in a household saying, money doesn't grow on trees. What you think you're just gonna get a handout? Talk about how they hate their job. So that's just a part of life. You gotta hate your job. They're watching their mom pinch their belly fat in the mirror and hate on themselves. They're watching their parents drink and argue. They grow up in foster care because they are learning that they have to earn love or be perfect for someone outside of them to love them and choose them. I could go on forever. There's an incredible amount of experiences in life, and we are all experiencing something different. So, where I'm going with this, we grow up in completely different experiences. That's why we have different beliefs about ourselves and the life we will live. We identify ourselves subconsciously, whatever you absorbed as a child, especially. And your life is a reflection of what those subconscious beliefs were, what you absorbed, what you took as truth. And if you feel like you've never been able to lose the weight, it's so hard to lose the weight. You're probably never gonna lose the weight because it never worked in the past, and you're having these thoughts and experiences of never having to lose the weight, and so you never will. So this is not your fault, and you this is not permanent either. Again, I wanna I wanna pound that in. It is not permanent, I promise. Somewhere down the line in your life, you were taught this is just the body you're gonna be in because this is how life gets. You get old and you don't get to be thin, you don't get to be confident, or you don't have you don't get to love your body. Only other women get to love their body, but you're different. Sorry, you're just different. That was never your belief. Someone gave that to you. You saw someone in a past experience in your life think that about themselves, and they projected that onto you. They handed it to you because they believed it was true about the their life, and it wasn't. And you just took this as truth because you were a child, and so it must be true, right? You're you're hearing this from an adult, but you are not born looking at your body, second guessing if your body is good enough. You never once thought about that. You were a child, right? You were free, all you cared about was having fun. That was literally your number one goal. So that means this is your natural state. Before any external experience, before anyone in your life put something on you, your natural state coming into this earth was how much fun can I have today? Can I skip my bath so that I can have more fun today? Can I skip my nap so that I don't miss out on any fun? I'm gonna be this when I grow up, right? I'm gonna go to space when I grow up. There is no limiting beliefs in your natural state of being. That is your soul. Your soul was so excited to experience life. Somewhere down the line, someone stomped on your dreams, okay? And you're not alone. The inner child in you literally only cares about enjoying life, finding happiness, finding loving experiences. So by now you're probably looking at your life thinking, why is it so hard to make money? Who gave me this belief? And how do I release it? Why is it so hard to lose weight? Where did I see this happen to someone else in my life? Why can't I live in that big mansion? How come only other families get to live in that big mansion? What do I believe to be true about life? What do I believe I'm worthy of receiving? What do I believe is realistic of receiving? How come that person gets to have a loving relationship? How come I'm not loved that way? What's wrong with me? Why doesn't my partner see me that way? Before we get into all of this, I want you to know again, this is not yours to carry. It's okay to release everything that feels real right now. It's just a projection. None of it is real and none of it is permanent. I want to explain more about how the subconscious mind works. So again, I do go in depth in this in the Academy, Mind Light Babe Academy, and you can go look at it and see if you feel aligned with investing in the time and the money to do these practices. I did it myself at one point and it changed my life. In fact, I thought it was gonna take me a year to change my life, my identity. It took me less than six months. So I was pleasantly surprised. And I never thought I would teach this stuff, this kind of information in a podcast, even. But when I saw the power it had, I was like, oh no, I have to share this. So if you've listened to previous episodes, you understand what I mean by your life is a movie screen and your mind is the projector, right? If you didn't listen to that episode, go listen to it. So that means your subconscious mind holds beliefs and experiences and it predetermines your life in the future based on your past experiences and beliefs. Not to get off topic, but that means you're living in the past version of yourself constantly. Okay? You are here right now because of a past belief or a past thought. If you have been trying to release old limiting beliefs and you keep experiencing the same results over and over again because you haven't gotten to the subconscious mind yet. Your subconscious mind is still setting up the experiences in the future based on your past beliefs and experiences. It's just reusing your past to create future experiences. That's what's safe to your mind. That's what's familiar, that's what it believes to be true. Your subconscious mind is your identity. Okay. You consciously think you're choosing your identity. Your subconscious mind chooses your identity based on your past, based on your beliefs. This is why I tell you to visualize and act as if you are the person you want to be. Act as if you're the person who already has everything they want. Okay, this is the first step to rewiring your subconscious. Again, there are certain practices that we go into in my academy, but this is where you can start. You have to start somewhere. You have to start somewhere that's not too threatening for your brain because it, if it's unfamiliar, it is threatening to your brain and your body. So act as though you're the person that already has everything they want, because this triggers your subconscious mind to pay attention because it's going to argue with you, right? Our brain and our body are constantly sending chemical reactions to each other. The mind is sending the body a chemical response, and your body is sending your mind a chemical response. These are just messages back and forth. So when you decide you're you're gonna step into the identity of someone who gets to lose the weight finally, who finally finds the love of their life, who finally loves their body, feels confident, makes the money, but your subconscious mind is hearing this for the first time. And it's like, you wanted this identity for so long. What do you mean? You've been telling me that this was the truth about your body, this was the truth about your family, this was the truth about the world. So I positioned all of our little molecules and chemicals to believe that this was our identity and our experience. Now you're telling me you want to be someone else? Now you're telling me I have to switch up all my molecules and all my wiring just so you can be a different identity. No, we've worked our whole life for this, okay? You're not just gonna be someone else today. So that's what your brain is thinking when you try to change it. So that is resistance. Maybe not literally like that, but you get the point. Your brain and your body have built an entire cellular foundation about who you are in the world, what you believe the world is, what you believe life will give you. So this is not just gonna change in the snap of a finger. So if you've tried to visualize or do practices in the past and you're not getting the results, stick to it. It's not gonna happen in a day. You have been building this identity your whole life. So, of course, there are practices that scientists have studied that actually bypass the conscious mind and go straight to your subconscious mind so that you can actually get to the source. And you can shift your identity and your experience, but you just have to do the repetition. So you don't have to go anywhere. A lot of people think when they want to experience something else, they have to leave their current relationship or their current job, right? Um, you don't. You don't have to go anywhere because you can literally just change the chemicals in your brain. You can just change the beliefs in your subconscious mind. Now, I don't expect this to all make sense today. If it does, amazing. But it took me some time. And so I want to normalize that. I didn't just understand this the first time I read it in a book or the first time I heard it in a podcast. I absolutely had to read 20 books and do courses that all could plug into each other. So I just want to mention that. If you're not feeling lit up today, the more you take in this type of information, it's all gonna make sense in time. So I do teach certain exercises that get to the source, but if you're not ready to do that investment, then start here. Start with all the episodes I've shared. You can still do the affirmations because repetition is like pounding on the door. Eventually, your subconscious mind is gonna open the door and be like, what the heck do you want? You've been pounding long enough, so eventually your brain is gonna open the door, take in your new beliefs, take in those affirmations, and change the I am identity. Now you have to believe affirmations work because if you don't, they're not gonna work. Another powerful exercise to change your subconscious wiring is visualization. I can't say it enough because your mind does not know the difference between what's imagined and what actually happened. Humans have studied the brain long enough to learn our brain sends the same signals, it wires the same neural networks when it's imagining something, daydreaming, or recalling a memory. The brain is doing the same thing. Same exact networks, in fact. Your brain thinks it's real. This is why when you think of something that upset you in the past, your body starts crying, right? You start, your body is physically responding in the moment because your brain is telling your body, this is happening right now. It's sending a chemical messenger to your body, we need to respond to what's happening. But consciously, you understand, right? The 5% that you have control over understands this is not happening. I'm just recalling a memory that made me sad. Your conscious knows this. Your subconscious thinks it is real. It's 95% of your experience. So when you're replaying an argument with someone and you start getting heated again, you're upset, you're mad, you're you are mad at this person all over again, right? You're ready to argue a second time. Your brain is telling your body this is happening right now. We need to respond. So when you sit down and you commit to visualizing your dream life, but not only visualizing it, experiencing the feeling it brings you. I want you to see your dream life through your own eyes. I want you to be in your dream. Feel like what it feels like to experience your dream life because when you're thinking with your brain about your dream life in detail, and then your heart is feeling the emotions of what it feels like to have it finally. That is where you step into gratitude, and that is where your mind and your heart are sending a coherent signal to the universe. It's sending a coherent signal to the quantum field, and you're telling the quantum field, which is just a sea of molecules, what to build in your 3D reality. Literally, it is science. In your mind, you are thinking of what you want. Your heart is the emotion, it's feeling the emotion of having it. When they are in alignment, you are sending a coherent signal to the universe. Your universe or the the universe knows what you're asking for and it can deliver. But when you're thinking about your dream life and your heart is feeling, yeah, but that probably won't happen. I wish, but it probably won't. That's not coherent. Your mind is not in alignment with your heart. So they're not sending a coherent signal. The universe is like, I don't know what you're asking for, girl. You're confusing me. You're thinking what you want, you know what it looks like, but you can't feel that it's real. Your brain doesn't think that's happening right now. Your brain knows it's just a dream. So you have to feel it as well as when you're thinking about it. So practice your visualizations today and do your affirmations every single day. I know it sounds cliche, but just commit to the repetition. I mean, seriously, if someone told you you could have the house, the car, the love, the health, the wealth, all if you just did your affirmations every day, you would be like, oh, I that's easy, I can do that. But if you don't believe that's the the way you get your dream life, then you're not gonna get it that way. And isn't it worth a try? Seriously, that's the simplest thing you can do to get your dream life is affirmations. Isn't it worth a try? So I hope you are better understanding your body today because we don't just learn about our brains in school for some reason. You have to go to college and decide. Learn about that, but hopefully you learned a little bit more about it today. So now that you understand a little bit more about why you're experiencing life the way it is, and you understand it's not your fault and it's not permanent, you can change it, you can release all the baggage. Other people gave this to you when you were growing up, and you just need to choose a new belief. You might have to choose it every single day until it's sticks, but you can choose it. You have the choice. So it's not gonna be easy. Maybe it will, you know. I'm not gonna put limits on you. Maybe it's really easy. But thank you so much for listening.
