In this episode of Inside Omro, Brandon talks to Diane and Diana at Some Good Stuff, a new thrift store located on Main Street in Omro, Wisconsin. We talk about how the store got started, what inspired the name, and what shoppers can expect when they stop in.
From unique finds and affordable items to the fun of never knowing what you’ll discover, Some Good Stuff brings a fresh thrift shopping experience to the Omro community.
We also discuss what it’s been like opening a new business during road construction, the importance of supporting local shops, and how every visit helps keep Main Street active and growing.
Stop in, look around, and you just might find some good stuff.
The biggest thing is is trying to leave our mark on not just putting clutter in the landfill because we're just we're just throwing it away. We want people to have the opportunity to see those treasures and people love it. It's amazing.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I'm Brandon Miller. The city of Omro has beautiful parks, active organizations, and thriving businesses. In partnership with Future Omro, the Omro Area Community Center, and Proud Sponsorship by Miller Otto. We'd like to welcome you inside OMRO. Today we're at some good stuff in OMRO, Wisconsin. Uh Diane and Deanna had their grand opening on May 1st this year. So we get to sit down and talk with them and find out uh how they decided to get into business and all the history and so forth. So uh who wants to start?
SPEAKER_00Yes, so um I've been in OMRO now for I don't know, 27 years. Um, and my husband and I have a junk or mole business, and we really um wanted to hone in on people not throwing things away and um having an avenue where when they clean out an estate, they don't have to just rent a dumpster or they don't have to just um take 50 trips to different places to offload the items. Um so what happened though is we started accumulating a lot of items and it takes a long time to sort and get through things. And Diana and I have been friends since our kids were what four years old practically. Um, the boys, and I said to her, like, what do you think? Maybe we could open a store, and she said yes. I was lucky she said yes. And then um we kept trying to figure out like where do we want to be, what can we do? And the spot opened up, and I messaged the person within 20 minutes of it opening up and I said, I'll take it. Um, and then it just snowballed from there. We just kept going and now we're here and we love it.
SPEAKER_03When was the decision made to actually open the storefront and acquire this this property?
SPEAKER_00So we had discussed things, I think, in December that if we could find somewhere that it would be really good. Um we had things obviously in different storage and different buildings, and we had been selling things on Mercari or some of our other sites. Um, but we wanted to have something in in the public where people could put foot in the door. I think the big thing for us is some people are like, oh, well, there's two other thrift stores, or there's another thrift store and there's another antique store in AMRO. But to me, it's if you create a destination where there's multiple things, a place or places people can go to, they're more apt to come.
SPEAKER_04Absolutely.
SPEAKER_00And they have been so welcoming secondhand rows and the Emerald Thrift Store. They have promoted us, they've collaborated with us, and that's huge to me. It's really heartwarming that they've they've welcomed us with open arms. So um that was the decision. So what happened is we uh knew we wanted something, but obviously there's only so many buildings, and we wanted to be on the main street, and we did know that there was gonna be construction, but it was I mean, we made the decision knowing that there was gonna be um construction, but it was still hard to like know, not knowing how long it was gonna be, what part of town it was gonna be. Um, but when we made the decision, I think it was January, January, yeah.
SPEAKER_01January as well.
SPEAKER_00Then we knew that I mean, my our my father-in-law built a lot of the shelves in here. Diane painted. I mean, there's a lot of months of preparation to sure to get in here.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely. So, yeah, it really from January to May, five months turnaround. Um, and there is a ton of stuff in here. So a lot of uh a lot of good stuff. Um, so I could imagine just the uh you know setting up, displaying, you know, the the shelving and everything looks phenomenal. Um definitely uh a job to open a business, especially when you have literally thousands of products.
SPEAKER_00Well, I do have to say that I'm lucky that somebody else is the person that handles a lot of that stuff. Diane makes it look beautiful in here. I normally make a mess. And it's the truth. Um, I try to work on that a lot. And I announce it to everybody when I clean up after myself, but I'm more of the person that gets the product and brings it in. Um, we also offer donations now, and part of the thing that we do is we give back a portion of our proceeds to the community. Yes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I saw that you just um you had a sale where you uh donated the um to the AMRO back to school program.
SPEAKER_00That's gonna be this month. Is everything that we um bring in this month, part of the proceeds, then go back to um the OMRO back to school program? So they they do an amazing job up at the school and the people that put that together.
SPEAKER_03Absolutely. So, Diane, tell me about you a little bit and what what your thoughts were coming into this.
SPEAKER_01And well, um, I'm also from AMRO, been in OMRO my whole life. Um and I was helping Deanna just kind of had the life change and um helping Deanna with some posting online, doing the Mercari listings, and um it went really quickly. All of a sudden, Deanna's like, hey, we there's a store open um down the road from me, you know, would you be interested in in helping me with that? And I'm like, well, yeah, of course I'd help you with that. And then it went from helping to hey, you wanna go in and be partners, and I'm like, Yeah, sure, that would be great. Why not? You know, so um nothing to lose. So I yeah, decided that we would partner with this, and yeah, it's been great. I love it. It's it's a fun thing to do and keeps me busy.
SPEAKER_03So sure, sure. So where are most of your products? Were you acquiring most of the inventory? Is it from the the estate sales from the junk removal business?
SPEAKER_00Um so I would say the majority of our inventory, uh it's probably about 80% of it, comes from our junk removal business. So our junk removal business is called some good junk and the stuff is called some good stuff. Um and what we do is when people contact us, a lot of times I'll have um quotes from multiple junk removal companies. And we just always say we are a little bit different. It may take us a you know a little bit longer to get in and get things out, but it's because sometimes we do a lot of sorting ahead of time to know what we want to try to save, repurpose and/or donate to somewhere else um or to maybe a family in need. The biggest thing is is trying to leave our mark on not just putting clutter into the landfill because just just throwing it away. We want people to have the opportunity to see those treasures and people love it. It's amazing. Yeah, the stuff you find.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the the really interesting thing about thrift stores is the inventory is constantly changing, and there's constantly new things coming in. And you know, I I I I love the idea of taking some good junk and making it some good stuff. That's that's really calm. That's cool. Yeah, yeah. So um, so what does uh day-to-day activities look like?
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's more her.
SPEAKER_01Well, um I usually come in and I just if we get donations, I go through the donations, um, get it hung up, get the clothes organized. I don't know. I just kind of walk around the store and see if anything needs to be moved. There's days I just move things from one place to the next. Um and then just I just have a fun time uh interacting with our customers. It's just great when they come in. And I think people like to talk about what they're gonna do with something, and if they bring it up to the cash register and it's you know, I'm like, what are you gonna do with this? You know, because it's just interesting to me. Like what they find, you know, it's cool because we see it when we bring it out of the house or bring it in here, and I love to know what they're gonna do with it and yeah, how they're gonna repurpose it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, absolutely. What are your hours of operation?
SPEAKER_01Um, so our hours are Wednesday from 10 to 4, Thursday, 10 to 7. Uh, we are open a little later now with uh the farmers market across the road. So we're trying to um bring some people over here when they're at the market. Um Friday from 9 to 4, um Saturday from 9 to 2.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01And then we're closed Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
SPEAKER_03Restocking. Yes, cleaning.
SPEAKER_01Tuesday, yeah. Tuesday is definitely the restocking day.
SPEAKER_03Absolutely. Absolutely. So, how do you uh determine pricing and what uh what an item's worth and so forth?
SPEAKER_00So clothing, it's pretty much flat um kids' clothing from zero to four T or is it five T? Five T. Five T is a dollar piece.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00Um dresses, sometimes some of the prices go up to eight or nine dollars. And then pants and jeans, it's pretty much three or four, maybe five dollars. We want it so people pick it up and they're like, I'm taking this home. So that way it moves the inventory fast enough. The other thing that we think about is some of the places, not knocking other thrift stores, but some of the prices in other places are so high, and I it's hard to want to charge that price when you can the items are donated to you. So we we keep that in mind. Uh, the cool thing is is we've had a lot of what do you call them, vendors or people that have booths that have antique booths that come here to pick up an item because they can sell in their booth.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, sure.
SPEAKER_00Our goal is to there's a few things that we put a little bit higher price because we've got to obviously pay rent, but the the goal is to have somebody look at it and say, I'm not putting this back down. This is coming home with me. Yeah, so and it's it's been working, it's been it's a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and some things are you know just more valuable than than other things. The selection and the inventory that you have here, there is literally something for everybody in here. Um, first time I walked in, went to the counter, turned left right into the man cave. Yeah, absolutely love the man cave. And today I was in there and I see you've got a stick welder in there, and you've got some uh drain snakes, and there's license plates and hubcaps. And I mean, so gentlemen, it's not just women's for uh thrift store, you know, there's something literally for everybody.
SPEAKER_00I have to tell you that was uh my husband's idea. He and if we can get a plate name on it, it's gonna say some good junk. Because some good junk's man came, because he's like, you have to have a spot for us men to want to come in and buy stuff. So that that was his inspiration for us.
SPEAKER_03I I thought it was funny that that that was the first area of the store that I that I went into. So you guys made a great decision putting it right there. So um I've seen you guys online a lot. You're doing some great social media videos, um very outgoing, very fun. Um and cross-promoting other businesses also. Um, you know, uh almost every podcast we've we've spoken about that. And you said that when you started the business, how welcoming the other two thrift stores, um, the OMRO thrift store and secondhand rose uh was with you. Every single podcast that we've done with the business has been the same way. AMRO is really a tight-knit community. We did Silvino, they're talking about Moore's Den and Tanner's Taft, and you know, same with Fox Lanes, and um it really is a community, and that's pretty rare um to have a community that's as tight-knit that is willing to promote other businesses, you know, at the same time.
SPEAKER_00I would say that I more so now than ever before. I think in the past, a lot of people, it's not that they didn't want to promote each other, they didn't know how and what capability you could come together. And I think sometimes some people felt threatened by hey, if this person comes in, that it could take something away from them. And what people find is the more you have to offer community, the the better things are. You can draw people in the case. You create a destination, and it's it's so amazing when I do a video with or when we do a video with Dauntless or Sloveno or Morris Den, any of them, then somebody comes from um Appleton or they come from Kimberly or they come from Berlin and they're like, Oh, we're gonna go get coffee, we're gonna stop for ice cream, and then they come here. That to me is more exciting than anything because they get to experience all of us versus just one.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely. And that's one of the biggest reasons that we started doing this Inside OMRO podcast. The idea started with the construction, and you know, let's help the businesses make it through the construction season. My kind of behind the scenes goal uh for myself is I would love to make it through the whole construction season and not lose a business. That's kind of what my focus is is let's you know let people know that yeah, there's construction, but we're still open for business. You can still get through town. When you're working with other businesses and promoting other businesses, it shows other people outside the community what kind of a community we are.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So um, and I'm having a lot of fun doing it. I never never thought I wouldn't would be doing it. We appreciate it. It would have been cool to watch. Yeah, awesome. You've had a lot of different um ideas for your social media posts and a lot of a lot of fun stuff. Who comes up with most of the ideas?
SPEAKER_00And yeah, that was pretty good at that. So she said to me right from the beginning, I am not doing social media, I'm not really, I'm not into it. And now she has no problem giving it to me anytime she walks in and sees that camera. It's like she's just ready to just have it. I'm like, are you did you just say that to me? I just told her we don't have to act. Let's just throw the camera on and see what happens.
SPEAKER_03Let's just be ourselves comfortable.
SPEAKER_00She calls me out on stuff all the time. I have to take it because I I give it very often.
SPEAKER_03So your your your two personalities mesh very well together in the in the social media stuff. I remember one of the first first ones that I watched. I think um, you know, you're obviously outgoing and you're going and uh and Diane, you're in the background and you're like, I don't really want to be doing this.
SPEAKER_00She was like, I'm done with you today. And at the end, it was fun. Like, we actually had a lot of fun. And you know what she said to me the other day? We haven't done a live in a while. We should probably do a live again. I'm thinking, who is this person I'm working with?
SPEAKER_01People are asking, like, where's our videos?
SPEAKER_03So absolutely, yeah. Yeah, and and the more you post, the more attention it draws, and the more followers you get. Every every video that you make is, you know, showcasing your products. And you know, and it's nice because when when businesses post on social media the way that you guys do, it's not a sales ad. It's a this is who we are, this is our personality, this is you know, and it and it makes people get to know you. They they walk in and they think you know they know who you are.
SPEAKER_01And people are like, Oh, I see you on videos. Like, if we ask, well, how did you s find us or how do you know about us? Oh, we see you on Facebook. It's like, oh, okay, it's working.
SPEAKER_03Yep, absolutely. The road construction updates that I've started doing when the road construction started. Um I it's amazing how many people I'll be in Red's Pigley Wiggily shopping and like, oh, you're I you I recognize you and it's like wow, little um yeah, it's it's fun. Yeah. Um so what are your uh what are your plans? What uh what are your thoughts for the future?
SPEAKER_00So Diane's trying to talk me into going live on what's what what not. She's like, let's do this, and as crazy as everything's saying about getting in front of the camera, I'm scared. I'm as nervous about today. And I was like, you know, with videos, you just you're done, right? There's no interaction, there's no she it's her and I bantering, right? And that's easy. But then I was like, I'm gonna start sweating. But I'm I we should try it. We have a lot of amazing inventory that we can get out all over the US. Um, but we just want to make sure we're also taking care of our our own town. Um, but that's part of our give back program.
SPEAKER_03So sure, absolutely. So are you gonna do the whatnot lives together?
SPEAKER_01Yes, yeah, for sure. The first, yeah. At first we're gonna have to, I think. Um, and then yeah, we'll see what happens. I mean, I would imagine we would, because I would think that's kind of what people want to see.
SPEAKER_00An honest person that just ex explaining things very nicely and having to deal with somebody that's always yelling at me.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and that'll be fun on camera because you can start, you know, start the bidding off at a dollar or whatever, and you can say, What the heck? You're nuts. That's worth $10. Give a bad thing.
SPEAKER_00What are you doing? Behind me, I can always feel the eyes and what do you do? I'm lucky she puts up with me.
SPEAKER_03So uh uh you have storage units that have other inventory.
SPEAKER_00So we need to come out a basement under a building that is probably 1200 square feet that has lined all the walls. We have three trailers full right now, and then we have uh another garage that's like a two-stall garage that is full. But what we try to do is we have um my junk removal company, we will bring in trailers when there's too much big inventory, and we've gotten different places to different donation centers, um, like the restore different places that need items as well. But we'll try to park our trailer in front. We haven't been able to, and then we allow people to do like the pickers. There's like a TV show American Pickers, whatever. People love being able to just scroll like rummage through things, and some people like coming into the store because they don't want to rummage. Sure. So you get you know the best of both worlds sometimes being able to um go through the trailers. I think our goal is to maybe on Thursday night um have some of the trailers parked downtown so people can just rummage through things as well. Some stuff is tagged, otherwise, we just tell people dig through it and it's two dollars an item, and they love making a pile.
SPEAKER_03Oh, absolutely. So who decides what comes into the store?
SPEAKER_00Um, I think we both do. Just drop things off and just say, What is all this stuff? I just thought that I thought you'd like it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. I mean, we know each other what we like and you know the taste that we have. So yeah, like she'll come in with a couple totes. Oh, and I brought you some totes. I'm like, okay.
SPEAKER_00I think the one who says, okay, sometimes, yeah.
SPEAKER_03How often do you reject the totes?
SPEAKER_00I can't.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, okay, I guess I gotta deal with it, but we have, I mean, our storage here is so small. So yeah, we've got stuff piled in the back. Um it's yeah, it's funny.
SPEAKER_00We give each other a hard time with that. I'm sneaky though. Sometimes if I want to bring things in, I already have tags on them and I just put them on shelves. She didn't even know we had this. I'm like, I know.
SPEAKER_01I like this last Saturday. Yeah, she she worked. Well, she works by herself. So usually every other Saturday we we alternate. So she's like, oh, look what I did. I got all these items up. I'm like, yeah, that looks nice. I mean, it does, it always looks nice.
SPEAKER_00So I have to announce it. I have to make sure she knows I'm working. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Right, right, right. You do you ever put little things that are like hidden and wait and see how long she picked up items?
SPEAKER_00That would be funny. First times and she walks in and there I send a little picture of it. I'm like, I left this for you. I hope you enjoy it. And I know when she walks in, she's like, it's just unbeatable sometimes.
SPEAKER_03No, no. So Saturdays you have free reign to do whatever you want.
SPEAKER_00And Thursdays, well, and so every once in a while we'll work out, like if we're gonna have a crazy, so this coming up weekend is gonna be a blowout sale. So everything in the store minus our vendors, our couple of vendors, is 50% off. So everything you see here pretty much is 50% off because we have three trailers that we need to get through to restock our shelves.
SPEAKER_02Sure.
SPEAKER_00And we'll have pop-up sales probably once every, at least once every quarter. So they'll see them again. And we do bag sales sometimes too when we get like what 12, 15, 20 bags of clothing in, then we'll do a bag sale where people can fill the bag for five bucks too.
SPEAKER_03Nice, a whole bag for five dollars of clothes.
SPEAKER_01We did that this last, yeah, it was last weekend, right? Yeah, it was last week, and yeah, we had a really good turnout with that.
SPEAKER_03So last Halloween I went to a thrift store to get a Halloween costume.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um, I went uh to Halloween as Kramer from Seinfeld. I actually shaved my beard. I got a Kramer wig, I got a over a coat, some I I think I already had the khakis and stuff like that, but yeah, so um I love going to thrift stores and and doing things like that. Getting a getting a you know, doing a Kramer costume where one year I went, believe it or not, this was probably twenty years ago, more than twenty years ago, I went to Halloween as a used car salesman. I had plaid and you know, all the things on on the stave, I think I was at that point. So but you know, I i there's Thrift stores are are they're just amazing because you really can do just about anything you want. Um, you know, ha have fun with, you know, whether it's clothing or whether it's the you know odds and ends that are in here. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I have to show you guys the video. Sorry if you're not that's what it looked like. That's perfect.
SPEAKER_03We did a whole dude of that. I didn't even see that video until like four months, five months. I think it was just a couple weeks ago that she finally showed me that video. I saw pictures of myself, but the pictures didn't do it justice. Uh so what else should we talk about?
SPEAKER_00Uh well, so right now I think we have six months worth of different um organizations that are local or families that are local that we'd like to give back to. We had a family last month that we were able to help. Um this month is um back to school program. Then we have um a veterans um hunting fishing type organization that we're helping out that's local. Um, some friends of mine that I went to school with. And we have um ALS for one of our um months. And our goal is to work with somebody that was affected in our community. So it's not that we don't want to help out the big corporations, but I think so many big corporations already have a lot of people helping them. So if we can pick a person, just like with breast cancer month, October, I think we have that picked um during that month. We will maybe somebody could nominate, or we'll pick a person that's been affected in our community or that's going through things now, that part of our proceeds then can help that person. And that's part of the reason why we like to take in the donations from the community as well, because they they know what it's going to.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Every every thrift store has something that they're giving back to. Um, we just wanted to do it for for people that are in our hometown.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, there's um, and I don't want to name drop, but um, we're doing a podcast with uh writing for a cause um next month uh to promote their I don't know how many years they've been doing it, but to promote their upcoming ride and um so forth.
SPEAKER_00And that's a family that we have picked as well.
SPEAKER_03Wonderful.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, so I saw the flyers up through town, so I know which one you're talking about.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely. So that's gonna be a fun, fun uh podcast and talk about a good a good cause and you know a good organization. So um it it's important to give back to the community for sure.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03So the interior looks phenomenal. What what are your future plans as far as property upkeep and so forth?
SPEAKER_01Um we have our front storefronts getting painted. I think it's this next Monday and Tuesday, right? I think I think from yeah, I think from now. Um, so that'll be it'll be really nice. It'll look very pretty when we get when it gets done. So right now it it hasn't been upkeeped, I don't think, for a long time. So um the city has, I think, decided to reimburse correct.
SPEAKER_00They the bid program has it. So if there's certain things that you do to the building, um that you can receive funds back for your work. Okay. Um, I'm on the bid committee, so I know how that one works, but um, they said yes, if this is something that if there's upkeep done to it, then the property management company that owns a building can get reimbursed for it. So nice. It'll be nice to have a facelift to the front.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_00And we let the community kind of pick the colors, color scheme. So we put a few different options out, we let everybody pick.
SPEAKER_03It's amazing how much buzz that generates just in itself. When somebody sees, you know, a business or e individuals, you know, making a property better and giving it a facelift and and doing painting. Um when we when we got the um location by the laundromat there, um the exterior was painted, and then we did the interior, and we really went through that and cleaned it up nice, and so many comments we got, so many people just popping in and saying, Oh, thank you for doing it, and you know, so forth. So um yeah, it's uh again kind of pride of ownership, and you know, it shows that we're making the community better, and um the public absolutely loves it.
SPEAKER_00So the other thing that we're kind of looking for right now is some volunteers. We have a couple people that come in and help, but people that are interested in trying to sort and love the the treasure hunt to it, right? Um, because I'm busy obviously doing my other work and and Diane's listing stuff and putting stuff in the store. Um, but having a couple people that maybe are retired or just want to help out a couple days a week um sort things and help us make it look fancy. Just a couple people that want to have something to do, you know.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So when you're going through the the junk and making it some good stuff, what's the criteria for it fitting into the store?
SPEAKER_00Clean and not broken. So there's certain items, there are certain glass where you obviously don't want it cracked or chipped. If anybody picks it up, they could get art.
SPEAKER_04Sure.
SPEAKER_00Um, things that have been soiled on, we have to throw away right away. It's like a safety hazard. But anything, I mean, people love vintage. Hands down. I mean, if you can find anything that looks vintage-y, that's that's sought after right now. I guess for us, there really hasn't been anything. I mean, when shoes come in, we make sure there's not a lot of wear to it. Um, certain clothing articles, we make sure that it's not stained in certain areas, but we try to make sure that it's something that we not not so much would put in our own house per se, because not a lot of this has any meaning to me. That's not why we can let it go. But it's something that is would it be something that I would sell? Like, is it okay for me to put that out there for somebody else to take?
SPEAKER_03Sure, sure. Has there been anything that you guys have acquired that you've said, nope, that's coming with me? Yes, absolutely. He's like, why is this?
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna get rid of something else, honey. He always tells people, what are what is that basket for? And I'm like, that one's for me. No, it's not.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_01How about you know the stuff that yes, I not too much. I try to I'm trying to get rid of stuff at my own house, I guess, right now. So I try not to take too much back home. But yeah. Clothes, I've been once in a while I'll take some clothes home. But then I bring some back. So I'm like, we're sharing, yeah. We share.
SPEAKER_03Sharing is caring. Yeah. Absolutely. Uh trade-in program. It is very nice. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_00The only thing I was gonna say is some people always say there's a stigma about taking somebody's items that have passed away. Like, I don't want to buy somebody or I don't want to put on an article of clothing that somebody else may have had and that person passed away. For me, I think of it as a way to not just throw those things away, right? Like you're you're not just diminishing what somebody collected all those years, you're bringing it back to life. And I feel like the person that maybe have had passed away would love that. So in the jump removal business, we will ask families is there somewhere if it it's either gonna go back to our store, we're gonna donate it somewhere, is there somewhere that you think your loved one would rather us send things to? So we've worked at different animal shelters, we've dropped things off. Um there's a lady that had a huge estate uh that had what are those things for quilting? Quilting fabric. We got in contact with um somebody from one of the hospitals in town that has a they have a bunch of ladies that make quilts and we donated bins and bins of that to them. So we really try to cater to what a family would would want if we if given the opportunity to. So that whole stigma that somebody's you're using somebody else's stuff that had passed away and that they don't they don't like that, just know that it's bringing back to life somebody's yeah, somebody's possessions.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely. Uh that's an interesting thought. I never thought about it that way.
SPEAKER_00Uh thank you for all the donations that have come in. Thank you from all the support, family members, friends, the community. It has been absolutely amazing having this opportunity and and feeling the love from everybody. It's really, really cool.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely. Is there any donations that you obviously can't take or store-wise, big furniture?
SPEAKER_00I mean, there's no room for that. It's more of like nicknam knickknacky stuff. Now, if it's something that you do want help with as far as the donations, um, the junk removal company, we have a trailer that we can bring to you and you fill it.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00And then you're not driving all over the place, and then you're not hiring us to do the work for you. There's a small fee for us to drop off the trailer, you just cover the gas a little bit. Um, but then you can load it.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's that's a nice, a nice offering. Yeah, absolutely. I can see a lot of people probably taking advantage of that.
SPEAKER_00It's been catching on, and people have been loving that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely. It's like run a run a dumpster, but it doesn't go it doesn't go to the end.
SPEAKER_00We have a dumpster and then we have the big huge we have multiple size donation trailers. So then they can run the dumpster and then also have the the trailer, and so it's a one-stop shop and it's easy.
SPEAKER_03Sure, sure. So uh are you guys on any other social media besides Facebook?
SPEAKER_01Um, I don't know, but we're looking about TikTok, right?
SPEAKER_00TikTok, Instagram and all that stuff. Yeah, so yeah, I'm I'm not the younger crowd is yeah, I think we need to work on getting somebody that can do all that. I've we've got all the videos, but it'd be cool to have like Instagram and TikTok. We're not on it yet. I assume at some point we'll probably jump on that bandwagon.
SPEAKER_03And you were mentioning that you sell some of your products online. Where do you sell your products online if somebody maybe is out of the area and wants to go um it through Mercari it's called? Macari.
SPEAKER_01Yep. So and then we do do some stuff on uh Facebook Marketplace too.
SPEAKER_03Okay. And is um Macari like um, I I don't know anything about it, so is it like uh it's kind of like an eBay?
SPEAKER_01Um yeah, you just go on their website and you can type in anything that you're looking for and things come up. You can also just type in, I believe, just type in our store name, some good stuff, and then it'll bring up everything that we have listed. Okay, so yeah, everything we got listed on that site, yes, yeah. So that from the store, but there are some things that are on Mercari that are in the store too. So yeah, we kind of do both.
SPEAKER_03Have you had anybody come in and like find something that they're just super excited about, or maybe something that they've been looking for forever and came across it here?
SPEAKER_00The best is when we do videos and people will screenshot, like they'll freeze the video, screenshot it and send it to us and say, Can I pick this up or how much is this? And I'll come on Saturday. Like it's yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_00The man cave, I would say the man cave gets the most. Yeah, some of the guys walk in here and they're like, Oh my gosh. Yeah, and they're like, they say to their wife, like, or their girlfriend, and they're like, Look what I just found. And it's no different than if a girl were to say that to him and be like, Yeah. She's like, Okay, honey. That's really cool. I mean, the room's not big, but it's back full of stuff. People have loved finding that stuff.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think that's a a great idea. That'll forever be my memory of first coming in here as walking into the man cave. So well, I want to thank you guys for letting us do this. Interviewing us. It was fun. It was a lot of fun. So awesome.
