Welcome to the new AI podcast - Minister Meets Machine, the podcast… helping ministers use AI… wisely… ethically… and effectively… in real ministry with Brandon, Caleb & Dale
I'm Dale. I'm Brandon. I'm Caleb. So what are we doing around this fire pit in Pulaski, Tennessee? We're talking about AI. The title of the thing is Minister.
SPEAKER_03Meets Machine. Meets Machine.
SPEAKER_04And we're going to talk about AI and its uses in ministry and the church. So it's interesting all the stuff that happened the last few years. If if anybody told us where we'd be today five years ago, we would have thought that's crazy. So tell me about your experience.
SPEAKER_02So I've been preaching at Hat for 20 years and try to vary things up as much as possible because after 20 years it's easy to fall into a rut. And I try to avoid them as much as I can. And so I found AI a good opportunity to allow me to find variation in theme and variation in presentation and all these different opportunities that it opened up to change my work at Hat.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Did it help?
SPEAKER_02Yes, it did. And it still is. I'm still learning new ways to develop ideas and change ideas and challenge myself. Well, let's get started then.
SPEAKER_00Welcome to Minister Meets Machine, the podcast helping ministers use AI wisely, ethically, and effectively in real ministry. With your hosts, Brandon Jackson, Caleb Kelsey, and Dale Jenkins. Thanks for joining us.
SPEAKER_01Well now preachers. I'm preaching the gospel with a little AI.
SPEAKER_02Which is always a fun thing for me. And AI allows me to do all those things more easily.
SPEAKER_04What's been the weirdest reaction you've had so far?
SPEAKER_02To my AI usage. Yeah. Oh man. Um people saying that it is just the use of it is going to make me different. It's going to change who I am instead of me using the technology.
SPEAKER_04Okay, so we're gonna we're gonna make this uh we're gonna try to have a lot of fun together. Absolutely and hang out a lot. We're just gonna talk a whole lot about AI and uses of it. And each each episode that we do, we're going to have a a question. We're gonna have somebody call in a question, everything, and or we won't have somebody call in a question. You can call in questions. You can call any of our cell phones and leave a qu leave a question. So if you know my cell phone number or Caleb's or Brandy's, just call that and leave a question. Keep it short. What do you say? 30 to 20 seconds. 30 to 40 seconds. And uh just just ask us anything about AI, positive, negative experience, whatever you want to do. And that'll be part of what we do. So what we're gonna do today is we're gonna kind of give a little bit of our background on AI. And my first question for you when I heard hear your story is Hat?
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_04You preached at a church called Hat.
SPEAKER_02Yep. How did that come about? The Liberty Springs Church of Christ originally when it was first formed. Small uh mining community, and over the years uh one of the members had a very large top hat that he wore everywhere, and as people do, they began to associate his hat with the congregation, and then they built a new building back in the 50s, and it looked a little bit like a hat, and pretty soon everybody said that's where the hat goes, and it became the hat H-A-T-T Church of Christ, and it has been uh a place where they have a tradition of allowing ministers to stay year after year, yeah, and uh and I'm one of the lucky men who've been able to fill that role there.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so what what else do you do? You I you you you uh you tend to the hat, but what else do you do?
SPEAKER_02I do. I um I also run a fly fishing res retail store called the Riverside Fly Shop, where I guide and my wife guides, and we teach people how to fly fish, how to tie flies, uh, provide all the gear that's necessary for fly fishing. That's led me into um AI. I think probably my very first usage was advertising related for the shop, and uh it's helped me with financials and different things there. Um, but I also have a small farm and we have some acreage and heavy equipment, and I love operating heavy equipment. AI helps.
SPEAKER_04What do you grow on your farm? Trees. Trees, okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's a tree farm primarily. My daughter has cows and horses and goats and guineas and ducks and a few other things, but um I'm more interested in the tree and the land. Uh so we we created schedules for what needs to grow, what needs to be done with AI, and it's fantastic for that. And it also helps me find the tools that I need and the information that I need to help maintain a lot of that heavy equipment. So I'm I'm a fairly heavy AI user because of all of those different interests and uh and work.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, neat. And you're married and have two daughters.
SPEAKER_02I have two daughters, two beautiful young ladies that are growing into uh their maturity, and we're we're having a lot of people.
SPEAKER_04You better be careful, right? Lay off the girls. All right, Caleb, tell us about yourself.
SPEAKER_03Um Caleb Kelsey preach at the Stroudsville Church of Christ, just about so this is really a hat in Stroudsville, I mean at the moment. So I found out today that the reason it's called Stroudsville is because the family Stroud lived in the area. The famous and they claimed, you know, they've laid their stake. Um, I I guess. So Stroudsville. What's interesting is the road that um 1531, the address of the church building, depending on which side you go, it's Stroudville or Stroudsville. And it kind of depends on who you ask, from my understanding. So that's kind of hilarious in the community, if you ask me. But anyways, um I got out of Heritage Christian University, was doing associate ministry, and then moved into wanted to move into full-time preaching. And so I am just almost two years coming up on about a year and a half of full-time preaching, and I'm very young. So uh AI has been bragging that I'm very young. Yeah, I am young, I am, yeah. Um, but yeah, I'm willing to try it out and just about uh see what it can do.
SPEAKER_04So where are you from originally?
SPEAKER_03Originally from Oklahoma, was raised in a small town called Tecumseh, and uh just a few minutes south of Shawnee and kind of central Oklahoma-ish. Um but was raised out there, and uh there's your reason why I'm out here in uh in Tennessee. My wife was raised in Franklin and was going to the Concord Road congregation, and so moved out here, started associate ministry, and then so you got a young guy and a middle-aged guy and an old guy.
SPEAKER_04You got a graduate of Heritage, a graduate of Memphis, and a graduate of Freed. So I thought that kind of when I was thinking about this, I was thinking it'd kind of be fun to have some different mixes involved in all this. So talk about your use of AI, how to get started. I remember when I first learned about your interest in AI, we were at a preacher's luncheon in Columbia, and uh somebody was talking about AI and and and they didn't know what they were talking about, and you kept correcting them. Was that what happened? I don't remember that. He's gonna correct us all the time.
SPEAKER_03I don't know, I don't I don't remember that.
SPEAKER_04No, you no, you didn't. But but he would say something, you say you could do this too. You were you were helpful.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and that yeah, and then you and I hit it off real quick. Um so my my first experience, I think, with AI was um was using Chat GPT particularly for image use. And immediately when I started full-time ministry, um I was I was still using images, trying safely to do so um off online of all the copyright things which we're still learning about today. And um I think I finally was like, I'm gonna try this ChatGPT AI image thing. And I mean when I say it was right when I started, it might have been like my first sermon at Stroudsville was when I immediately started using AI imagery. And that was my interest of using images that really help with sermons, so carpet.
SPEAKER_04For years, all of us Googled AOL, whatever we used, look for an image, and it'd be close. You know, it's like I guess I can talk about it and make that work, but now you can just say, Yeah, I want this, I want a hippopotamus dancing on a banana, I don't know, whatever you say. You can do that. That looks like the Apostle Paul in prison. And and it'll get it'll give you whatever you asked for. Yeah, it does do.
SPEAKER_02Are you using a free version of AI to generate images?
SPEAKER_03So I started out, and I'm not sure what ChatGBT is like now in the free version because I have the membership version, which is $21.90 a month, I think. Um Dale has the expensive version, I'm not buying that version. Um but the origin I don't know what it is now, but from my understanding, when I was doing it, you could generate two images per day. And so I had seven days to the next sermon, I had 14 opportunities to get the get the images I wanted. Eventually I was like, I'm just buying this thing. But uh but it it it worked out, and eventually I just I bought it, and now it works really well for me.
SPEAKER_04You you told me one of your favorite uses of it was uh in helping you come up with questions for teen classes.
SPEAKER_03Absolutely. Yes. So um at Stroudsville, we will uh quite often have a Thursday night study for youth that want to be there, and they'll bring their friends, and what we'll do is we'll have a 10 to 15 minute devo um going over parables, and uh we're using your book. I appreciate it. And um as as we're I'm doing the book though, Jeff. 10 to 15 minutes little lecture style, maybe a little bit of interaction, but right after that we do 30 to 45 minutes, break into small groups, and we have five questions. And what I'll do is I will take my notes and put it into chat, chat GPT, and say, give me five questions. This is for a youth class, and I might say I want it to start here with a kind of an intro, not very deep, and then get a little harder in the middle and get really encouraging towards the end. And this needs to be a question that just about everyone feels comfortable answering in their own words, doesn't need to be yes or no. It's hey, um what did you you know um Jesus making you with the parable of the mustard seed, he can do great things with such with such little things. What are some what's something in your life that you think is that big, but Jesus can use it for this big? And it but but chat would word it in a way that'd be a lot better than what I just gave. That's incredible for me.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. So you're you're doing a good work there. Trying. I understand a lot of folks being baptized and you're reaching a lot of a lot of those teenagers. So this isn't about that, but uh everything we do is about that. So thank you. So um what else we need to talk about?
SPEAKER_02Well, you've got to go. Who are you? So everybody recognizes that voice.
SPEAKER_04Well all those weird images you see that I put out there, you can think this guy right here. So uh I was like probably a lot of preachers. I I'm I'm very aggressive technologically. I like technology. I I've I jump I've jumped in with both feet every time. I had kind of avoided uh uh AI. Uh I didn't want to be lazy, I'd heard make you lazy, I didn't want to be, you know, I didn't I didn't want to uh didn't want to depend on it, didn't know how to use, I didn't have a clue. And I got a text message one night. I think I was in a hotel in Huntsville, Alabama, when I got the text message from from from Brandon here, and he he said, uh, I'm research or you know, I think you just asked, How are you using AI? And I wrote back and I said, I'm not using AI. And uh and you said I'm researching um Pharisees and first century temple worship and what happened from the Roman standpoint, not from a biblical standpoint, but but things outside of the Bible that will help me in doing some research in this. And I and to be very frank about it, I realized when somebody like you is using it that way, I thought, I I think I need to be trying to figure this out too. That then we can figure it out. No, no, no, no. It's the guy's solid is brand new figure it out. I can figure it out. So I so I I so I jumped in with both feet and I I I use it. I use it continually. I I'm just it's it's uh you know, it's I don't it it it takes whatever I do and makes makes it better is what I've determined. It just makes what I do better.
SPEAKER_02Do you remember the um the PDAs? Personal digital assistance. That's this is the fruition of that. I think this is that technology fully grown. Steroids, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah. Cool, very neat.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04So uh we'll we'll have a question each time we we get together, and then we'll have kind of a big topic. And the big topic this time is really a question, so we just kind of wanted to talk about that. Uh and I and and uh we did a lot of prep for this and everything, and I don't have a clue where we're going from here. So what's next? What's next, Brandon?
SPEAKER_02Let's talk about guardrails. Okay, we've talked about how we love using AI, how effective it is, and a lot of different things. Um, but let's let's take just a couple minutes.
SPEAKER_04So every time I send out a survey about AI, and I allow comments, and I I for I've been doing surveys now for about 15 years, and the worst thing is comments because then I have to go through and curate all those comments and figure out what they mean, if they mean anything, what to do with them. AI has made those comments marvelous now. Oh, yeah. Because I can take it and say, you know, which are similar to spell it down with all 300 comments I gotta wade through. And so, but every time I ask an AI question in my surveys I do, inevitably there's somebody, I don't know who it is. You know who you are. There's somebody out there that writes uh like a two-page document on how dangerous AI is and how it'll make you lazy and how it's no good. So, what are some of the dangers of AI? Let you start, Kayla.
SPEAKER_03Um, as someone getting into ministry, uh having just gotten into, um, I can see it being very easy to just say, hey, make me a sermon on um Matthew 4, Jesus in the wilderness, and then I print that off and I just walk up there. And I I have concerns with that of I don't know if I'd say that's what what the what's the right word of lazy? It just it feels wrong. Um but that being said, you know, I we do have brethren who will take a Gus Nichols outline, a guy in Woods outline, and they'll go preach it with I don't know if they look at it, I don't know if they make it their own.
SPEAKER_04Um the danger there is probably two or threefold. One is the laziness of of of sorry, a young guy uh, you know, just just getting into it and not not doing the deep, deep work that has to be done. But I imagine if we went back 20 years ago, there would be guys that were they we are now, I am now, that would be saying, well, you shouldn't be using Google to you know, they go back 40 years ago, you shouldn't be using computer software to to look up verses or to to help print print your verses out. You know, you just keep going back and back and back. At some point you get to, you know, Dave's and Strong's chords and topical studies. Then you get back to the guy that said, Well, these young guys are using verses. They I don't I don't know who broke the thing into chapters and verses, but God didn't do that. You're lazy, you know. Yes. So the I guess the point is it it can if it's lazy.
SPEAKER_02Any tool can.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Any tool. I I don't dig trenches anymore. I bought a mini X and that sucker does every trench on my property. Um whereas before I was taking a shovel out and sticking it in the ground and working myself to death. But I'm able to accomplish much longer trenches and much better trenches because of the tool. That doesn't make me lazy.
SPEAKER_04But but I have to control it could have made you lazy, but you're not, but you're not you're not lazy. I think it makes lazy people lazy.
SPEAKER_03That's right. Yeah. That's right. Absolutely. What other concerns?
SPEAKER_02So I I think building on on that concern, one of the the things about using AI and is there is there is benefit to failure, there's benefit to hurt, there's benefit to struggle. Yes. And if we use AI on every single sermon to make it perfect, polished, and and we set up our own guardrails within AI to protect us from pushing ourselves too far in a direction that we haven't gone before, and we're not exactly sure how that sermon's gonna turn out, then then we keep producing the same safe thing. And and one of the one of the things that I love talking about to my preacher friends is I get finished with a sermon and I think it's I've knocked it out of the park, I think it's great, and it's crickets, and then I preach a sermon that I think ah, that didn't really uh it didn't reach me. And and there are memories.
SPEAKER_03Yes, that's God keeping us humble.
SPEAKER_02It is, it is, and and if if we use AI so much that it curates what we're willing to do or how we're willing to try, or those things we we eliminate some of those failures, but at what cost? Yeah, and so I still use AI to push me into places where I could fail. I could this could not it could work out differently than I anticipated. Um but it allows me to to press myself to struggle.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I I think there's a couple more I I don't want to mention. One is uh the danger of of using leaning tolling AI and claiming it's all your work and and and maybe I AI should be like any commentary we use, any preacher who we like the way they put stuff together, periodically we should say, no, you need to know that I'm working with this AI and doing this. I don't think every time we put a slide up, we have to say, no, I created this by doing this and this, because then we never get to what we're doing. Oh, yeah. But but but periodically, just just don't don't leave the impression that you're that creative, you're that ingenious all the time. None of us are. The the other one, and and we're going to talk about this at length eventually, but copyright. Let's talk about copyright a little bit.
SPEAKER_02Copyright. We're learning. Yeah. Go ahead. It is the there are so many ins and outs. Um, if AI generates images for me, do I truly own them? I don't know that I don't know that the courts have caught up to the technology yet. I think I think that that's what's going to happen eventually is if I'm paying for that or or they're using my data to to offset the cost, is is that a work produced by me, or is that a work produced by and where does where does that leave us? And then it is very easy to take someone else's image, sermon, or idea, and allow AI then to shape it into something that I want or how I want to use it. At that point, is it mine or is it it's my understanding, and this could have changed.
SPEAKER_03Um AI is changing all the time. I've got a book that talks about how to use it, talks about how to I I can't remember the name of it, but a friend gave it to me. How to use AI for advanced or Chat GPT for advanced users. Front page, like a disclaimer, AI is always changing. That book came out like six, eight months ago or so, and I guarantee it's advanced. Yeah, oh it's out of date. Absolutely. Um but but when it when it comes to copyright, it's my understanding like images-wise, it's my understanding that if you make an image, you can you could sell the image, but I could also sell the image. So I mean you can't claim it as your own. Now I could be dead wrong on that because we're we're we're continually moving forward and making new laws on it and stuff. Um it's my understanding. Would you agree, disagree?
SPEAKER_04Is that you you're ahead of me, the lawyer. So we do need a full episode on that because it's such a deep and we may bring an attorney on or two if we can find one that's a Christian. I don't know. The the the the those exist Christian and attorneys. We just saw all the attorney viewers just went off.
SPEAKER_02I've got a flag called a dirty politician. I was like, well, we we don't need both of those words.
SPEAKER_04Okay, well, so we're not addressed something that that that something you said a minute ago, Caleb made me think of, and and it it's not even our notes, but let's let's spend a minute talking about what actually is AI. Because that's probably something a a podcast that's going to be addressing AI should address. What is AI? So um we'll just get a stab at it.
SPEAKER_03Artificial intelligence. There you go. Elaborate. Oh man. Um I well, I don't know if I've ever actually had anybody just say straight up what is it.
SPEAKER_04Let's kind of unpack it a little bit. It's uh artificial intelligence, which you know I don't know if it's either one of those two really in a sense, but it's both. But but reality is it's it's it's just a basically a supercomputer that takes vast amounts of information, curates it in nanoseconds, and spits it back out in the form you ask for it front f front for it to spit it back out to you and then it can it can remember what you've asked it and build on that uh and this is important I think for all of us to know and and there are preachers that watch this ministers that watch this that won't understand this don't know this it tells you it's it it's a product it tells you what you want to hear sometimes oh yeah and and I hear guys I asked what it thought about baptism it told me exactly of course it did it knows you you told it enough about you now you can you can you can fight with it and and and wrestle it to the ground and get it to tell you what it thinks is right or wrong but but it doesn't have a brain of its own yeah it's all curated by humans at some point and it's taking information from all over the internet.
SPEAKER_02So whether it's good information or bad information it doesn't know it's just gathering the information and so that's how you end up with some of the hallucinations. Hallucinations are answers that are not valid.
SPEAKER_03Yeah they are spell strawberry is that the one you're telling there was a time and I think it's been corrected by ChatGPT at this point but there was you could probably go back and look up these videos of ChatGPT when you talk to it you press talk and you'd talk back and forth and you'd say spell strawberry and it would spell strawberry and then you'd ask it how many R's are in strawberry and it'd say great question there are two in strawberry like no there are not and you go back and forth finally it'd say there are three and from my understanding I think everybody who had chat BT chat GPT could do that. If if all of us pulled it up it would do that. I think it has now been corrected but but that shows you how it's continuing to advance continuing to improve.
SPEAKER_04So there so back in the turn of the last century the 1900s century before last now I guess cars were just becoming popular and there were like 600 manufacturers of cars in the United States every city would have its own you know there'd be places that would produce five or six cars they'd have the whole manufacturing business. But eventually the big boys came around GM and you know Chevrolet and and and Ford and the big guys. And even today there's probably you know hundreds of car manufacturers but there's certain ones that are big ones. Think about how the same way you've got Chat GPT you've got Claude you've got uh OpenAI you've got uh groc uh sorry say croc but but you've got then you've got specialized ones like Gamma that does PowerPoint presentations you've got V that does video work and so there are a bunch of them out there and we probably will spend some time in an episode just talking about all the different AIs and and and how you use that tool because I imagine of the three of y'all the three of us the two of y'all that you use a different AI for specific things that you're trying to do that you only use it for this and you only use this for this and you only use it.
SPEAKER_03We we couldn't cover them all. If we I mean there's they're just there's constantly each and every day I'd bet there's a new one coming out. It's a we got it edited and and pushed it be out of date.
SPEAKER_04Yeah I watched this video it's two weeks old God even mentioned the new big one. Yeah oh man so but but yeah AI is is is uh uh it you know we're there there's a famous uh study that this is the four stages of AI and we're in like the very beginning of stage two. Yeah and and so that to to a fearmonger that would scare us to death. It doesn't scare me uh I believe God's in control the world's gonna end when God says it's gonna end nothing I can do or you can do or man can create is going to make that happen sooner or later than God intended to happen. He set that day. So we don't need to worry about the uh the evil empire taking over and yes and killing off all mankind. Unless God decides that's going to happen but I'm reading that in Revelation.
SPEAKER_02No I don't well I'm sure somebody's found AI in in the book but oh that'll be interesting okay so so now we've got a a working definition of of what AI is practically speaking how have well let's start with you how have how have you put it into practice in your life?
SPEAKER_04Well we don't have that much time we don't have that much that much better life on the video or the audio but but I you know I I will write something and I'll say you know perfect this for me make it better.
SPEAKER_02Uh is that mainly um grammar or is it thematic or voice or all of the above?
SPEAKER_04A little of both okay you know I primarily grammar uh I don't know how many things I'll say don't change anything in the content here just but sometimes I'll say I I I've got four things here I need six add two to this and add four to this and then I'll pick from those four or whatever. Yeah uh I I love to use it for for writing purposes you you've already mentioned images uh and images are so neat to be able to create with with AI and and that that ability um and then I just use it just like you know I can use Google before and the people probably scoff at that but I do it it just makes sense it it helps me we'll we're gonna spend an episode I think soon about talking about AI ministry and how it can help us in our real administrative getting into the practicalities of oh yeah how it fits and um and where Caleb how are how can you give one example of this is what I did with AI in the last week that um rather than sitting down and taking an hour to work on a bulletin article I went in the auditorium and said my bulletin article into Chat GPT and then I went and pressed send and then I looked through it to make sure it's a basically what I want and I saved myself a lot of time.
SPEAKER_02So you were you're able to use it as a transcribing tool?
SPEAKER_03So that it could put periods where I needed it to put periods and then it may change that much but then I'd go through proofread it make sure it's what I want to go into the bulletin.
SPEAKER_02You talked about using it with illustrations earlier when we were talking about my favorite usage and in the way that I got I got started um I know that we talked about um first century usage and and that was a product of me um having heard Justin Rogers preach a lesson on grace and the word charis and how we have this definition of charis that wasn't the definition of the word in the first century. And so um I I used chat to do the research I didn't I didn't have access to the academic re tools that that someone like Justin Rogers does. And so I'd I would start interacting with chat and asking it to go to first century sources and scan them for the Greek word chars and find every place that you can find it in the first century outside of the Bible and then give me some context.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Pull up pull up those references let me make sure that they're real and then give me some context of of where it was being used and how and then I was able to see how someone in the first entry if if Paul said Charis what their mind would go to and how they would perceive that because what we've done is we've experienced that word only in Paul's writing and we've assumed some things about what it meant and how it meant. And and chat doesn't have those assumptions. I can give it prompts that limit its scope and and focus and it was able to pull those up and so it was super exciting for me to be able to do that research that I wouldn't have access to that that you that you wanted to do yes but you could not have done had you not had that ability that's right.
SPEAKER_04That's cool. Very dictating so um I like using it for for just um studying a verse you know look at 2 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 6 and this word used in the where else is that word used does Paul use it anybody else use it so how was it used in the first century how was it used classically what does it come to mean through the years what are theologies that develop around this word it's it's limitless it seems like the things you can learn with it. Yep so the the section we're talking in right now just so our listeners viewers will know is called in the wild. Yeah and so each each time we get together and and do one of these the part of this time is going to be in the wild we're gonna talk about whatever it is we've been dealing with how we use it on a practical basis and we'll bring in some other people maybe for that as well periodically that should be fun.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah because we're not able to be experts in all of the different facets but we can show how we're using it for sure.
SPEAKER_03I think we we hear about claimed AI experts and I'm not convinced it's always advancing.
SPEAKER_04I mean those who dedicate their entire lives at the moment to it yeah they're experts but man they are they are researching you could be an expert today in the bar would be totally behind because uh something you know Claude came out with a new model I mean some of the stuff they're coming out with every day it just blows my mind and it seemed like it started kind of slow and it's really picked up thing in the last couple of months yeah I really don't know uh I mean we compare it to Google when Google came out I don't know it it is it is a unique thing in a certain way to come out and uh what are all thoughts about that?
SPEAKER_02I mean be being unique of of he's asking like somebody who wasn't there when Google came around I was what was the world like the same way about Google as we do Google opened Google the internet opened up access to resources that you would not have been able to put your hands on.
SPEAKER_04I remember I learned how to copy and paste a verse from a software into my notes on my s on my computer. Yeah and it was it was a game changer. Blew my mind I thought it was crazy. So yeah same same sort of thing. Yeah all right so yeah let's talk for a minute because we're gonna wrap up here I think pretty quickly let's um let's talk for a minute about about what we hope to accomplish with this show. What what what what do you what do you think this is gonna be like uh to get conversation going.
SPEAKER_03Yeah this is this uh is something that isn't being discussed in the Lord's church right now it seems like and um I think this is a good way for us to just talk about it and recognize we're not perfect by any means and um we've got a lot to learn so let's learn together.
SPEAKER_04So yeah you so that's important I think we can't we don't we're not wearing a big humble badge but we also are going to be very clear we we're not claiming to be experts on this. I have it all figured out we're just gonna discuss it and work through some things that'll be useful.
SPEAKER_02I like that yeah I think it'll help me personally push myself and and think about how I'm using it and think about the consequences and think about the right and wrong ways of using it and then that struggle then I can help others navigate. And I think that's gonna be a big first step is navigating how we feel about it and and what moral issues there are and if there are if there's some difficulties and and helping to navigate some of those things but then also opening the door to this wonderful tool that when used correctly can help ministers reach souls more effectively.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Yep. That's kind of my my I want us to help guys figure out how to use it. Yeah maybe curtail a little bit of fear from it. And then um you know we'll get some things wrong and we need to be clear about that. We're we you said it we're not experts. Next episode we'll open up with we take it back all the disclaimers but but I mean there'll be people that watch this that will know a whole lot more than we know about it. We're just three guys decide to get together and do this. So yes thank y'all I'm I'm excited about what we're gonna do together.
SPEAKER_02Step up where we can and yeah do what's available and discuss some fantastic tools. Alright play us out of here next week or next episode um we're gonna look at why why aren't we talking about AI use? Why aren't we um disclosing as as fully maybe sometimes as we should uh our AI use or um talking about it amongst ourselves as easily and then you know some some of the true dangers we're gonna dive into the some of those dangers more fully
