I could I could have sworn in one of the clone episodes, Obi-Wan was alive. Uh he had a lover in and Darth Maul had killed her.

Oh no. Well, let's give a quick background. We we all know uh Star Wars pretty well. We've watched like the shows and all the the movies, but let's let's talk about the love story because episodes one through three explains the the love of Anakin, Skywalker, and uh Patame, right? Yes, yeah, Patame.

And a question, June, and this I want you to answer honestly. Uh and I know you you know this, bless you, you know this speech by heart when uh poor little Patame's bleeding her heart out to Anakin.

Yeah, and that was the day before, 25th anniversary. Yes, the day of it came out. So you have that going free to watch the greatest, probably the greatest Star Wars, and your son was born the next day. So wow. Yes, the chosen one, the chosen one, and I understand he's gonna be having a birthday soon, so happy birthday to him. Um, okay, let's get back to the the topic Anakin, great Jedi, but he has his moments of um anger, and anger is to him, I think, confounded with the fact that he's confused how he feels about Padame and uh he was doomed from the beginning, and that they were holding would you agree that they were holding him back and that was giving him a sense that there was more than what they were offering him?

Yes, because they they see his potential from the gate.

Well, what about this though? And and uh we uh gosh, how many times we watched episode three? Ten thousand times more too many, but um anyway, I I feel like uh what gets overlooked is that Palpatine was in charge, he's the one that started slowly manipulating Anakin in episode two by putting him around Padame and by planting those seeds, you know, and and so poor Anakin, not only is he fighting, you know, becoming a man, but also he's sworn to becoming a Jedi. But he has a dark lord, a dark Sith Lord, right, that's like manipulating him and putting him in positions to slowly water his seed of corruption, right?

Okay, now now um June, this is especially a question for you. Is why didn't Palpatine get more playtime in the movies?

Why was he so in the shadows and had such a small role, even though he had a big sorry because he had to play his roles as a senate as a senator, you know, he was that's what his whole goal was to rule the empire. He had it all in the back of his mind.

And um, yeah, he did it, and so and he won for 20 years.

What did she say? I'm saying, what would Padme say how uh how does this uh end with the war of applause?

See, he knew from the gate where he said he already was forming an empire in his head. He just needed the right apprentice, and he found him.

Okay, now speaking of apprentices, your opinion on Darth Maul and the fact that um he had, I mean, probably the greatest Sith Apprentice, and he had such a small role. And um you think good character? Too little too too too little of him? What do you think?

I think he played his role perfectly. Because without without Darth uh Darth Maul, then you know, then there would be no Count Dooku.

Who can say, yeah, who can say that he didn't set that up from the gate Dooku.

Right. And that and that just shows more the genius of Palpatine.

Yeah, a fallen Jedi becoming one of his his apprentices.

Yeah, Dart Maul Dart, yeah, Dart Maul Slater's apprentice. The best of the best, the best of the Jedi's.

Yeah, yeah. And um so we have uh Palpatine, he sees the potential in young Anakin, grooms him, and I guess he was counting on the fact that putting Anakin and Padme together, they would fall in love. Right, and it worked. And uh it's sad, yeah. It really is a sad story. It's a it's heartbreaking in a fact, and Attack of the Clones, where she finally admits she loves him. That's really one of them heartfelt moments, the way she talks to him. What do you think, Jim?

Oh, you know it by heart. Um, yeah, that that kind of uh I think the kiss and then that moment kind of are what Star Wars is all about right then and there. That he fell right then and there, and um Vader was inevitable.

But hey, the um Duku had explained the whole plot to Obi-Wan if he really sat there.

Remember? Yeah, he said he said that he says the darklist controls the Senate right now.

But but that's that's his um his his but then there would have been Dooku would have driven the master than a matter of that's what I'm saying.

Because if Obi-Wan joined Dooku, what what happens?

Who said they would go back to uh where was that code? Nabu? No, that was not Nabu. That was one of the closed Cashiknosis. No, Geonosis. There you go, there you go. So yeah, who's to say go there and just raise their own, do you know, do Order 66 themselves?

And and and uh well, see Order 66 wouldn't exist because it was for the Emperor himself only, Palpatine's order. So that's true. In that sense, you know what happens? Does the Empire even exist?

Yeah, but he had to expose that he was already in the Senate, too. That's already doing a lot.

True, true. Um, the fact that Dooku had that in his mind, it just goes to to show that the uh the Sith are just they're backstabbing, yeah. They're just out there, yeah.

Yes, remember that's true. So, what are the things about these inquisitors?

Uh that's later on, but um, no, no, it's it that's good because if you're a Jedi and you're being wanted, wouldn't you just say, hey, I'll I'll just join you and uh with two lightsabers in my hands. Yeah, yeah. Pretty pretty easy. Let me on my way. Yeah, that that's that's a pretty easy choice there. Um and I don't know what was your opinion of that whole Obi-Wan show.

Um, honestly, I think they should have just left it the way it was. Because they Obi-Wan did not see Darth Vader again. This Disney gets a little too involved, yeah. Right, the hatred that he the hatred that he already had born for him, and he was still at his prime, he would have he would have torn Obi-Wan up, man.

I I agree a hundred percent that um that was a needless series because the way it ended, I mean, that he even survived it.

He would tell him, don't try it. And but but the thing is, the whole fight, Anakin was the stronger one, he was on the offense the entire fight, and so it's the the cockiness, yep, and that's his demand.

Arrogance, yeah, just like just like General Grievous. Remember how he was so convinced he was a kill Obi-Wan because he had all the lifesavers and stuff, all the cool tricks he was doing.

And that's when Obi-Wan says hello there. Yeah, remember that's a famous line now.

But yeah, have you ever noticed all Obi-Wan's his all everyone he fights, they're all they're always too cocky. They are Darth Malt, cocky.

Why is that? Why why is he so underestimated? You know, probably one of the greater Jedi's, right?

I think because he gets in their head at first, right?

Well, you know what they say? They say Qui-Gon Jin was the strongest Jedi ever. That's what they say.

With the force, yeah, with the force. But then he got so is that why they use the so that that's is that like a theory? I I heard that too, that the like your lightsaber depends on like where you have green, you're more powerful at the force. Blue is like you're more like on combat.

Right. What it's purple. And why is it the biggest lightsaber?

Because it's Samuel at mother f injection.

There are snakes on the plane, yeah. Okay, so so Palpatine deceives, he's now in charge, and um do you think that in his in his fight with Yoda, why didn't he just go ahead and and I mean he had he could have beat Yoda. I don't think so. You don't think? No.

I may you know that is that is the baby, because I mean Yoda, you know, he Yoda still, he was he wanted to go at combat with him, you know? Yeah. But Sidious is wicked with both the force and with the lightsaber. You know, when he got killed, all those three Jedi's, I found out that that he does it's like a Sith scream, and all by story.

Yeah, the the Sith scream. It's crazy. That was that was a crazy scene. That was a twist and screen.

And those were those were high-ranking, you know, Jedi Master from the council and stuff.

But but Mace Windu was gonna beat him.

Well, because J Mace Windu is the most powerful Jedi, man.

He is, he's he's yeah, he is, but I want to throw this in there that um Palpatine knew Anakin was coming. He's seen, and so he had to make it to where his life depended on it. And and to save Padame, right? That was his whole thing, the whole discussion. And so now an already confused Anakin is looking at it like, hey, this guy can save the girl I love, and this dude's about to chop him up with that light, that purple lightsaber.

I don't know, you know. I know, and that that would prove more to how genius Palpatine is, too.

Yeah, agreed. That's why he the the whole Star Wars is nothing without Palpatine. Right.

The gift of gab that would be that would have to be the title because he gabbed his way to the top.

He did, yeah, masterfully. Wow, and um and and the the craziest thing is, you know, we're three, us three in here, we've all been in love before, right? Yes. Now imagine if you're in love with a woman, right? And that's like your whole world, but then your lifestyle that you're heading towards doesn't it it won't allow for that to happen, right? And you know you can't live a life forever, right? So Palpatine understood that from the beginning. Well, he he's the one who put it together, orchestrated it and he knew that you know he's gonna fall.

He he yeah, he he seen the love in Anakin when he was a kid, yeah, and he knew wow. He seen her when he was a kid. That's what I mean. Are you an angel? Yeah, and and then everyone said hello there. And I think I think Palpit hello there. Hey, baby. Um, I think Palpatine can sense that love between them, and that's why after 10 years, he's like, Well, how about Master Kenobi? And you know, he could watch her and yeah, remember that the banana king out of any out of the blue, Master Kenobi, dude.

It all makes so much sense where it's like, oh, and his Padawan, even though um he knew all along what he was doing. Oh, yeah, yeah. It's man. But but how can you be a Jedi master and not be on the console?

You had a good point, right? Right? Yeah, yeah, he was doing he was doing uh council member things, and didn't they even give him a pada one?

Yeah, uh, but that's a those in the closer. But but still though, Anakin had that's gonna happen. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He had a good point. Yeah, he did, he did, and uh and do you but now this is a question for both June and and you, Tony Tone. Do you feel like that if Anakin would have gotten everything he wanted, the console, he was a Jedi master, right? Do you feel like that he was still have become a Sith? Yes.

They he doesn't know that's because they were trained, you know, tied down emotions. So you know who's to say one, you know, they kill like Obi-Wan or something, and then he just starts snapping, you know, he just doesn't turn back.

But you said the key word emotion, right? They he started too late when when the Jedi are young, they they take that out of them from the get so that they're emotionless drones, basically, right? And Anakin started from the very start. He had a crush on Padame.

But I'm just gonna say, you know, but yeah, because Qui Gon Jen 2, because he would have still been his master, but you know, he he he as well, he had a lot of emotions too, because he was ready to ready to fight the council, yeah.

And now, and there's that question: what if Qui-Gon doesn't die? What happens to Anakin?

I I think that Anakin becomes concerned. See, the tough part is Qui-Gon Jin knew about the Emperor, right? He knew about Palpatine. He sensed, he sensed it, and they they kind of nobody knew, but nobody believed him, though. I know no one believed him, but he sensed who Christ is, yeah. Yeah, yeah, that's right. And so, and so I feel like if Qui-Gon was a and that's why they wanted to get rid of Qui-Gin.

Maybe maybe they discovered Palpatine sooner.

I know, yeah. So, all in all, we have Anakin falling in love, and um he breaks the heart of the heart of the woman he loves, and I think he carries that all through in five, six, and four, five, and six.

Well, and and Palpatine lies about it and says, you know, you killed her in your fit of rage, but really she died with open heart. I guess I guess he did still kill her. He killed her, yeah. Yeah, he wasn't helping out. Oh yeah, poor handy.

Yeah, well, well, let's talk about that real quick. How remember we we all talked a long time ago? You know, this is no new thing for us, we're just finally recording it. You know, we we would have hour-long debates about Star Wars or you know, anything like that. But how about the fact that the prophecy did come true? Anakin eventually did destroy the Sith Lord and bring balance to the force, but then the new Disney movies ruined that.

Well, yeah, but that's that's just money. I mean, yeah, George Lucas's story was always and people had the misconception that Return of the Jedi was Luke. It wasn't Luke, it was Anakin. Right at the end, he did, yeah. And um it was beautiful.

The love for his the love for his child, that again, too, is a love story.

Yeah, yeah, and six six episodes, the galaxy saved, and all it was was it's just not saved how you think, it's not the typical story where the hero wins in the beginning. Okay, but here's here's the point about the chosen one. He was a chosen one as far as he did bring balance to the force. He did. Sadly, it was bad well after the empire. 99% of the Jedi's were eliminated, or they turned into Inquisitors. Um, so that the prophecy was right.

Well, well, and and the cool part to me the best part about episode three is that it's it none of it's ever really a happy ending.

Well, and and I want to say the first time I seen it, I was sitting next to I had uh my children next to me, and to my left was a friend of mine, tears. And 25 years later, I was at the theater. I had one of one of my sons with me and people next to me, and after 25 years, tears. Right. All when the Jedi are getting killed. Getting killed. Tears. And then when when Padama makes her plea to Anakin, that that you can hear people openly weeping.

I know. That's how attached and I feel like this time it was better. I mean, this time I was an adult and I had a beer in my hand, so it was even more better. Yeah, you can't beat that. I was drinking out of my little Darth Vader head cup. Oh wow.

Then I know, and and and after uh Padame's speech in episode three, what's the the lava planet or wherever they're on? I don't know what it's called. Mustafar. Mustafar, yeah.
