So the thing about Dinout for Democracy. So like the main thing is that what we're asking the restaurant to do is number one, um, put out our tabletopers, which is to have info about Democrats abroad. Because the idea is that we want to get in front of people who don't know us, which is why we're going to like really different and new places that we've not been. And we're also asking them to come up with some kind of like a themed drink, dessert, or a big item. And that can look really different. Like some people, like Lava Latte was like, we're just gonna do a straight 10%, like and that's the promo. Some places, like Zarta Cafe is doing like democracy donuts because the donuts were already on their menu.

Um it's in uh Zarta Cafe. It's uh Swahili Food. So, you know, like what I've been telling people is I'm like, you know, I've worked in food and beverage. Like, I don't want you to do anything that's gonna make you at risk of loss because you're introducing like a new menu item that you don't actually have. Yeah. So I was like, work with what's in stock and just like come up with something that either is thematically aligned because you make it thematically aligned like the alliteration, or you know, like some people are doing like a red, white, and blue like cocktail, you know, where they're like layering like the colors, you know. So it's kind of everyone's doing something a little bit different, which I think is cool, you know, because like different things will also pull in different people. And then on our side, what we're doing is we're of course providing the tabletopers and we're also gonna provide like a guide for them where it's like if people have questions, like they know they can have some basic answers and also know who to reach out to from us.

So everyone's gonna have the same tabletopers, and it's just like a little thing that has info about us. There's like QR code so they can join the WhatsApp community or they can um make a donation. I love this. And um so the goal that the goal of that, like and the benefit for us is that we get in front of people that don't know us, right? And so this is kind of a way for us to expand our reach, get into some new community groups that like we're just gonna and then for them, the benefit is that we are going to make this Dinout for Democracy guide, which we're gonna publish that features all the restaurants and their featured items and discounts and all of that, their contact info, and then we're gonna circulate that to our membership. So that's about 600 people in and around Ruby that are our kind of captive audience that we can share their info with. So I was telling one of my girlfriends, um, I was like, I'm thinking of it as like you remember when we were kids, like the entertainment book. You know that one that you would buy with the tarot coupons? Yeah, yeah. I was like, that's how I'm thinking, like, that's where I want us to get to. Like, because I want to make this like an annual thing. Like, I'd love us to get to a point where it's like we actually have like a really nice like guide of all of these restaurants and cafes and stuff around Nairobi that we can put out once a year and help our membership also just get more involved with the Nairobi community because they can find places that they wouldn't normally know.

So it almost reminds me of like my kids used to do wrestling. Uh, they did other sports, no, I'm sure, but I can only remember wrestling. But each year, I mean it's old school, but used to be the journals. You didn't rip anything out, but it was the journals, sponsored journals. So it like parallel maybe to something.

It had built up a while, it's built up for a long time, but I couldn't stand looking at the number increase. This is the same as her, I'm not a ho no no more. Oh, wait. No, we'll go to that in a different episode. But but what about the US is uh your president is saying the ceasefire is not pretty he's not mine. He's saying the ceasefire is over the bomb since last night or something.

Yeah, they were they were over there like dropping bombs and all kinds of stuff.

What the hell? What is going on to make sure the Strait of Her Moose stays open? I still say Iran may have something up their sleeve. Like, you don't know, like they've underestimated what Iran could do in the first place. And so now look at this. So, anyway, that was a surprise.

But yes, that has happened. Um, you know, the they said that it was because they had started striking ships that were like out there in the street. It's it's unclear. I mean, unfortunately, like we now live in a world where like I feel like we're constantly being like gaslit and attacked with misinformation, and then on top of that, we've really reached the next level where we often find that our like our government is acting on misinformation.

So and and let's go back to the case.

It's like we're it's it's almost like when we evaded invaded Iraq. Okay, it's like it's like we somehow pierced the veil and now we're like trapped in a loop.

I actually I was just thinking about that war. Even before I found this out, I was just thinking about that war. However, let's just go to something. Remember, who was that person who always used to say, fake news, fake news, who did it come from? That guy who's the president himself. We used to always say that. He was projecting because little did we know that many years down the line, he would be the alpha and the omega of what is fake news, yeah. Of him creating things and him being able to even go on false things. Okay, so that bothers me. I don't want to stay on that because I don't, besides that, I was just surprised.

However, or like the ones that'll be there like in Times Square, like with like the people walking behind them, and then it was like when our friends were on like Main Street, like it's connected to New York.

And back in Times Square, let's just do a sidebar for Don Lemon. Those used to be those times that he used to get drunk on New Year's Eve all the time. I loved him being him and him and Anderson Cooper were like there playing grab ass on the children.

And I just want to say this. Sorry, because you just say something that reminds me. One of the last ones, God rest his soul, I saw Dick Clark on. Whatever they did to his face, they made him look exactly how he had looked like 40 years before, but he could barely talk.

Because there's probably two inches of makeup on it. They did to him what they do to corpses, which like you're not supposed to move at that point.

Let's go on with something else. Okay, yes, because all those teams are out. Mexico, Canada, United States, gone. And I feel like the United States team, people were people were rooting for them to lose. I mean, as they should. Yes. Oh, because I I hadn't realized I had heard um Trump had done something.

He like intervened to get the red card overturned. Can you imagine? But like my like everything else aside. Like and it actually goes back to like the whole thing of like fake news and like the way that like institutions are like shit. Like something like FIFA only works when people believe that it's impartial. Like that's the only way for it to work. And it's not something where there's like a a law, it's like it is like what they used to call like a gentleman's agreement, right? Yeah, it's like we all have to, it's like a social contract kind of thing where it's like we all have to equally agree to play by these rules so that we can believe that this thing uh is impartial. And so it's like on the one hand, you can't gaslight all these African fans, because you know, with the Egypt match, with the like with the um Senegalese match, like there are all these instances where weird shit was happening, like where they weren't blowing the whistle when they were supposed to, and then people are scoring. And like, you know, so it's like you're telling all of these African fans, especially, like you're crazy, like no, like everything is done by the book. That's a lot, and then you hand out a red card which is supposed to disqualify someone from the next game, and the president of one of those countries called you up, and all of a sudden you retracted.

And and and at least everybody knows that it happened. It's not secret, right? So before the gaslighting is over, we know that shit is happening behind the scenes. Well, and even though I'm not a soccer fan, by the way.

To me, it's just one of those where it's like you know, anyone who's running any kind of organization like this, it's like this is why like white men should not be in charge of this kind of shit. Because like we collectively believe that we can just like razzle danz people into like not believing what they see because it's like somehow y'all like like somebody on your team, probably a woman, was like, if we do this, like this is going to be how it looks. And therefore, even if there was some uh behind closed doors or a policy-based reason that it would have made sense for them to retract it, it's almost like even if that was the right thing to do, they shouldn't have done it. Because what it means publicly, actually, like the damage that does outweighs like the justice that you would give by reputing.

So just in terms of FIFA, though, and soccer and fans, I do want to pay a little, you know, ode to the New York Knicks because we have not met since them uh winning.

I mean, you know I'm a Pelicans fan, but well that just means I can hitch my bandwagon to whatever because we ain't never want shit.

And they came on the scene later. Pelicans weren't always around, right? They're they're they're a younger team, right?

No. I mean, New Orleans has had a franchise for over 50 years. But the Pelicans know our original franchise was the Jazz.

But then the Jazz left New Orleans. Where did they go? And they went to Utah, right? Oh, Utah Jazz.

And so then we became the New Orleans Hornets because the Charlotte Hornets franchise came to us. And then at some point they made an agreement with Charlotte to release the name so that the Charlotte, because the Charlotte, what was Charlotte called? It was like back when Michael Jordan was like.

I thought they were the Hornets.

No, but there's a while where we were the Hornets.

So we gave the name back because they got another franchise that came to them, you know, because that's how it works, right? It's like when teams move, like the name follows the franchise because it's like an actual contract. So when we got the Charlotte franchise, we took the name and then we released and gave it back. And so that was when we became the Pelicans. Because there was a whole thing where it was like, what are we gonna be next?

So you guys became the mighty Pelicans. But I'm sorry, can we go back to the next, the next? Sorry. I want to say I know the Knickerbockers.

Do you know what a Knickerbocker is? They're the short pants, and they look very much so that's such a mighty ass fucking thing. First of all, I grew up in Albany, New York, where we had the Knickerbocker Arena. Thank you very much. Really? Which then became the Pepsi Arena and is now the Times Union Center. However, back in the day, it was we're going to a show at the Nick. I saw Britney Spears at the Nick. I saw Destiny's Child on the TRL short with Dream and Eve at the Knickerbocker Arena.

Yeah, I listen. However, I used I stopped watching around because I could stop. I used to be too emotional over the losses. The losses were serious. I was like, I can't watch this anymore.

That's what I was like, people don't understand. Like, that's like how it was for us as the Saints, like when we won the Super Bowl. Because it's like we've been losing for 40 years.

Emphasis on the word sticking, where you're gonna wear up the pants. Because all of a sudden they're gonna be drooping. So, my loss in translation, I mean, actually, ironically, also related to eating. Um I also can't remember if I've talked about this before, if we just talked about it, but I have this thing, like, it's like everywhere I go, and like actually, it's ironic that this is here now because this happened to me so much over the last three weeks when I was in Taiwan and then I was in Vietnam. Wow, you know, because like, well, there you Even more so, because like, you know, one thing about like maybe it's all those years of the New York Chinese food, but your boy knows how to whiff around some chopsticks. Okay, like I'm sure that people have notes, you know. Any of you that watch my Instagram rules, I'm sure have notes and feedback. However, they be on me, like I'd be in the restaurant trying to eat, and they're like, and I'm like, can I help you? And they're like, and it's always the same thing. They're always like, I just love how like much you enjoy our local food. Oh my god. I love to watch you eat it.

Usually we're eating at the same time, so I'd like so the thing is like my my girlfriends, Elise and Janae back in Bat Rouge always used to laugh me because they told me I had a quote unquote wet mouth. Because I was there, like I was there in the office one day eating, like, and it like wasn't even something good. It was like some like well, let me not say Fritos, because I love Fritos. I think they're over very unreliable. I love Fritos, those are my favorite Cheetos.

I think I was eating like some plain lace, like it was like something real, like not cute. But I was hungry, so I was sitting there, and she just looks so she's like, you sure do got a wet mouth. And I was like, what do you mean? And she was like, You can make anything sound delicious as you eat it, because you're just like oh wet mouth. She was like, It's not in like a weird, like, because you know, like most of us I think don't like people that chew loudly or eat loudly. Like I think that's like a lot of people's sensory ick. Yeah, and she was like, it's not in like an ick way, but it's like you make it sound like you're enjoying it so much with the way you're like crunch crunch crunch. And I was like, it's true, because when I'm in the movies and I got my little caramel cord, like I feel bad for you if you sit next to me because I'm gonna crunch that bitch.

Like, once it went into syndication on USA Network, where it was like playing all day, every day. And I used to watch the marathons on Saturday. It's one of those shows that it's like you would go over to like Auntie or like Momo's house and like USA Network is on in the background. Because it's just dun dun.
