Sensuality Starts When You Return To Yourself

Sensuality has gotten a bad definition, and a lot of women pay the price for it. I’m not talking about trying to be “sexier” or performing for attention. I’m talking about sensuality as a divine feminine value: the ability to feel, to soften, to breathe, and to live inside your body without shame. When we reclaim that kind of embodiment, we show up warmer and more present, not because we’re people-pleasing, but because we’re finally connected to ourselves.
We also go straight to the reason sensuality can feel foreign: survival programming. If your nervous system learned to offer instead of receive, or to endure instead of melt, there’s usually a younger part of you that had to grow up too fast. I share how inner child healing helps unwind masculine wounds and feminine wounds, including the beliefs that say you’re not safe, not good enough, or responsible for everyone. We talk about how those patterns live in the body, how triggers like criticism can snap you back into old pain, and why warmth and self-compassion are not “extra,” they’re the pathway.
You’ll leave with practical tools you can try immediately, including mirror eye work and simple self-touch that builds safety, connection, and even oxytocin in your system. If you want more softness, deeper intimacy, and a more grounded relationship dynamic where healthy masculine energy can rise to meet you, press play and practice along with me. Subscribe, share this with a woman you love, and leave a review so more women can find this work.

Welcome And Why Sensuality Matters
SPEAKER_01Hello and welcome to another episode of Flourishing Femme. I'm Marnae Bocott, and today on this 11th episode that I have published, I want to talk about something that has been really forefront on my mind as of lately because I've been working with a lot of women that just really struggle with this, the divine feminine value, characteristic, attribute, and even archetype. And that is sensuality. We get to understand as women that sensuality is not about sex. It can be incorporated with definitely sexual intimacy. But it is about feeling. It's the way that we as women inhabit our body without shame. The way a woman can experience her breath slowing down and noticing how she feels more safe in her body. Most women were
Sensuality As Feeling And Presence
SPEAKER_01never taught sensuality, they were taught to survive. So their bodies learned to offer instead of receive, to please instead of soften, and to endure instead of melt. Sensuality begins the moment a woman returns to herself. I really believe in this and have worked on practicing this myself. And what it is really all about is nurturing our identity, our truth, our value. And as we experience this, as we feel warmth and genuine sensuality within ourselves, we actually begin to be seen as a very warm, playful, authentic woman. Now, not that we're here to do more performing or more pleasing. That's not the intention here. It's really more about how we live in this personal awareness and how we begin to listen to our own pulse. And notice how sensuality is more about presence. And most of all, allowing ourselves to be felt by ourselves first. So when we intentionally connect to our body and pleasure, we show up as loving, warm, and soft versus rigid, guarded, um, unapproachable, and all armored up. And that is how we actually become more magnetizing, magnetize to us those things that we desire, our true hearts' desires, what we want. Well, a lot of women that I work with: if you want your man, your husband, your significant other, your boyfriend, to be more in his divine masculine, then we as women get to lean in deeper into our divine feminine. So this is something that does take conscious and accountable effort to practice and to get curious about.
Magnetism And Divine Masculine Dynamics
SPEAKER_01Also, we get to really understand and know how powerful programming is that can come down generationally. So there are lots of different processes as far as how to begin to work with those inner parts of ourselves. And how we can truly come back into ourselves and
Generational Programming And Inner Child
SPEAKER_01address or show up for those little inner inner children within us that hold a very big part of who we are and begin to heal them. So when we are actually able to understand and take time for that little one, that little one who started at some point maybe to become scared to dream or express or become inhibited or unsure, which we all have, those little inner children within us. And we begin to, as we grow older, we begin to start peeling off parts of ourself that inconvenience others, or silencing ourselves when we're too much, or trying to prove more when we believe we're not good enough. That little inner child within you, she is that and can be that most purest essence of who we really are. And finding her means reconnecting with her and allowing her to feel seen and heard and acknowledged, and maybe even her pain being witnessed, and that is a lot of the work that I do with my clients is inner child healing, and I see it be so powerful in people's lives because it's almost like when that little inner child can just start to be seen and recognized instead of just kind of left back on your timeline guarding this evidence room that that holds beliefs and emotions that perhaps I'm not safe, or I'm not good enough, or I'm unlovable, or uh now I've get to be the parent in the family. It's all up to me to make sure that this family functions. That really does happen. I've worked with clients that have gone back and started to acknowledge as young as six and seven years old to an inner child that the father disappeared, just completely abandoned the family, and the mother was never available, emotionally available. So at seven years old, she was left in charge to make sure that family was functioning to some degree. And at
A Client Story Of Survival
SPEAKER_01that young tender age, she believed that the only way she could be safe was to be very to grow up really fast and to be very responsible and proactive, and even take on a mother role and a father role because her father was no longer there, and the mom was completely emotionally unavailable and sometimes even physically unavailable. And when her mom was physically around, it was a pretty abusive environment, and she had two younger siblings, and so you know, it's just I worked with this client pretty recently, and it just brought up to my mind again how how important it is that we show up for those littles. Us, our little inner child that can be stuck back on the timeline with all these really hard beliefs and emotions and ways of coping that can start that young. And so that moving fast forward to grown women, that's what it means to reverberate what I said in the very beginning is that you know we were taught that being warm or gentle or allowing to completely inhabit our body was not stay safe. We were, you just got to get into survival, and that our bodies learned to offer instead of receive, and that was the case with this client. She was she was growing up really fast to try to play that part of the father and mother, or the masculine and the feminine, and to take care of and to be responsible, and to make sure that her younger siblings were safe. And so then we grow up with those same those same beliefs and those same patterns and those same things that we've always done since we were little. And so a lot of these concept concepts and principles that I'm teaching in these podcasts can just like seem so foreign. Like I don't even know where to begin. And so, what I'm offering to you is that that invitation to you is start by doing some of your own inner child work and getting curious about where your masculine wounds are, from fathers, brothers. That's where a lot of my masculine wounds came from actually was from brothers, not so much my father, and feminine wounds. And you know, there's a lot of a lot of feminine wounds that can happen even in grade school and junior high with other girls like your friends. I I swore to myself clear back in eighth grade that I would not trust another girl if my life depended on it. And it was really funny when I'm
Trust Wounds With Other Women
SPEAKER_01I'm standing in front of 18 women at one of my very first women's retreats, and I think to myself, wow, I really, really never thought I was gonna be able to get to this place where I could be vulnerable and be in front of 18 women and spend three days with them and laugh and learn and love and grow with them like I was doing. I really just was like, oh, between eighth grade and but the time I was 30, there is no way I would have done that. Because I just was like, women aren't safe. And I'm a woman. And so maybe I'm not even safe. So that we get to look at these things and get curious about them and and get excited and to get this stuff healed within us so that we can really progress forward to the place we really want to be. Because when we we can show warmth and sensuality and curiosity, it really does mean we're living more from our heart instead of that egoic part of us that's all about control and the need to be right and what other people think, and we we self-betray ourselves so much when we live from that space, and then we wonder why our life isn't working out for us, and that we're unable to create and manifest those things that we want in our life. So today I'm gonna give you just a couple of invitations to start working on. This is about a lot of self-compassion and a lot of warmth and curiosity and even some playfulness, which are all characteristics and values of the divine feminine. But we're going to do some invitations that are gonna just start start you somewhere
Invitations For Self Compassion
SPEAKER_01in that inner healing of that sweet, innocent essence of who you really are with those inner children that may have some trauma or some really hard situations that impacted you, and you've stored that in your body somewhere. A lot of emotions we store throughout our body you can identify almost on a daily basis, because we hold fear in our stomach, and we hold sorrow and sadness and regret in our up by our heart and our chest and in our breasts. And we hold so much energy in our hips. We as women just hold so much energy in our hips, and that's why really learning to move our hips can actually release a lot of that stuff. But that's for another podcast. Today we're gonna look at some ways that we can begin to show up for and support those little inner sweetheart little girls that are that are part of who we are. And the first one is eye work is really, really powerful. And I would invite you every day to just look in the mirror, up really, really close, so that you don't see you're not focusing on your hair or your body or whatever. You're just up close, really up close to your eyes. And you look in your eyes and you just say these things. Little one, I see you. I am here for you. I acknowledge that you went through some really painful things, and I want you to
Mirror Eye Work To Reconnect
SPEAKER_01know that you are seen, and that I want to nurture and love and support you. You are loved, just that simple little thing, and then when you feel like things are getting hard and you're exhausted, and you just feel like life is so heavy, you can just take your hand, put it on your chest, take a breath, and just imagine you talking to one, you know, one of your ages and stages, maybe your seven-year-old, if that was the hardest part for you that you remember, or maybe it was all parts of your childhood that was hard. But I'm gonna give you an example of one that I do and haven't had to do it as of lately because I I think she's healing. Well, I know she is, but I had um some pretty rough experiences with older brothers. I have five older brothers, and one of them specifically was pretty rough on me, and um would say hard things and were very critical, just mean, mean things to me. And sometimes when I feel like in my life people are being critical or hard or demanding or insensitive with me, I just
Healing Old Criticism Triggers
SPEAKER_01go back to her and I go, little inner child, I see you. I see that time where you wanted so much to just be accepted and approved of by this older brother. And there were some really hard times when he was pretty brutally mean. And that must have been so hard and so hurtful. And I remember those tears that you shed and how you shrunk every time that happened to you. And I want you to know that I am here for you. I see you, I support you, and I want you to. Feel the love in my heart that I have for you. You are amazing. You are so brave and you're so stupid. Perfect is the way you are. You're just little. You don't know what you don't know. And you'll learn and you'll grow and you'll find out that someday you will find out that those things that he said are not your truth. And they aren't who you are. Who you are is divine and special. And you are a beautiful being of light. And I see you. And so that's just something that you can start to do is just acknowledge and talk to that little that little one. Now those are things that you can do on your own. And when I work with people with these types of things, there's a modality that I do that's called rapid eye technology, and there's some other modalities that I'm trained in that I do that are actually really powerful pattern interrupts and allow for some really powerful body somatic experientials to help heal and bring forward and embody and bring present into your heart those little inner children. And it's just so healing. After I'm done with the session, I always encourage my clients to do what I just am inviting you to do. That same thing. Guess what? You are practicing warmth with that little inner child. You are actually practicing sensuality. Because imagine putting your hands around that little girl's face and looking right into her eyes andor stroking her hair, or holding her and stroking her hair and talking to her. That is sensuality. Believe it or not, when you
Sensuality As Nurturing Touch
SPEAKER_01are experiencing that with little children as an adult, that creates oxytocin. I do that with my grandchildren. I'll just hold them and I'll stroke their hair and I'll tell them how amazing they are and how much I love them. And such a tender, sweet little moment. I hope I can get through this without crying when my little 10-year-old grandson comes up to me and he looks at me and he goes, Nana, I need some of your attention. And I just grabbed him and I held him and I said, Oh, Brooks, thank you. Thank you for asking me and inviting me for this to give you some intention because there's nothing more that I love than to do this. And I held him tight and I held him in my lap, and I just rubbed his arm and I said, You are such a cool little kid. I love you so
Oxytocin And The Grandson Moment
SPEAKER_01much. I love your smile. I love when you look at me with those big brown eyes and tell me thank you when I do something for you. You're just such a grateful little kid and you're so fun, and I just build him and build him and champion him and champion him. We're doing the very same things to our little inner children. And if he needs it at 10 years old, and he has a pretty good home life, and he's he hasn't had a ton of trauma in his life, at least that I'm aware of. But doesn't every little child want to be seen and to be noticed and to be championed and to be told how amazing they are? Absolutely. So that is my invitation for you today. And I hope that this has brought some awareness and that you can become more curious about this topic and see how it can perhaps be incorporated or adopted or embodied in your life. Okay, I am so grateful that you joined me today. This is something that is so tender in my
Bringing Warmth Back Online
SPEAKER_01heart because I love seeing the progress that women make when they can really start to heal those wounds, those feminine and masculine wounds through inner child work. It just is such a rewarding experience to me. And so I feel so privileged to walk women through those processes. And I just would invite you that if that's something that you would be interested in, on my webpage awakenedacademy at awakenedacademy.io, there is a place that you can schedule a 30-minute personal discovery call with me, and we can begin to see what would be a good next step for you on your healing journey.
