It's going really well. We had a nice heavy rain yesterday, so we're going to spray to protect the grapes this afternoon. And uh yeah, everything's grape.

Camping And Glamping Options Explained

we're diving into something that guests ask about frequently. Can you walk us through the overnight experiences and camping opportunities available at the vineyard?

SPEAKER_02 1:26

Yeah, I'd love to. We are a glamping site, I like to call it. There's different options. You can always bring your own tent, pop it up. We do have two glamping sites available where you just pull in. We have a single tent or it could be a double tent, and then we have a tent that can sleep up to four. So you pull in, the air mattresses are ready, the bed's ready, the lights are ready. You just pull in, go into your tent. And then we also have an RV on site as well that can sleep too comfortably, but you can probably put four in there. And it's just kind of a glorified tent. It's gonna protect you from the elements and uh it doesn't have a facility in it. So we have bring your own. Some people bring their own RVs, they're all self-contained. And then we have an RV also here on site.

Why Overnight Stays Are Dog Friendly

what inspired you to open the vineyard to overnight guests in the first place?

SPEAKER_02 2:28

Uh I think for me it was always I love traveling with my dogs, and I loved bringing them to new places where I can kind of let them explore and see new things. Um, so I wanted to give that option to people, especially, you know, pit bull type dogs that aren't always welcome. We want to be an open arms establishment where we don't discriminate against breeds. We do have specific rules. There's some places that I like to keep private for me and my dogs. So I do want people to keep their dogs on leash because we have birds that are free ranging. But we're also a destination site. So we're in the endless mountains, we're butt up against the Appalachian Trails, and we're on the Susquehanna River. So there's a lot of things to do here and to explore. And then, of course, we have awesome wine, a beautiful sunset. It's just a great place to reset.

And I love the fact that they're you could bring your dog, you don't have to worry about you know what to do with your dog if you want to take that dog on that special journey. And

What Changes When You Stay

then like overnight guests, what would you say is like one of the main differences that guests get to experience if they do select to stay overnight as opposed to just like a day trip?

SPEAKER_02 3:41

Um, we do vineyard tours. We can show them around, show them what they're what we're building. And then you have free range of the property as well. So you can explore. We have walking trails in the back, we have the vineyard, we can show you our production site. It just depends on what the stayer is wanting. Some just want to come and stay and be left alone. Um, I I like those, but I'm always open to showing people what we're building as well.

Yeah, and then any uh recent groups that came in and just had like a different, like fun experience that you'd like to share that did stay overnight?

SPEAKER_02 4:22

Uh, well, we have some groups that come specifically for our events, so that's always fun. We have a group coming uh 4th of July weekend that I'm really excited about because this will be their third stay with us, and every year has been a little bit different. So for me, it's always exciting when people come that have seen it from the beginning and see the progress that we have made. We're still a pretty primitive spot, but we'll get there and it's fun to see people respond to the progress that we made.

What To Bring And What’s Provided

Yeah, and if I guess does choose the overnight option too, what should they bring?

SPEAKER_02 4:59

Yeah, so if we have events, we usually do like small bites. One time we had like a hot dog uh cart. Yeah, so basically, if you're coming, just bring your own food, bring your own snacks, unless you wanted to kind of uh purchase something with us, then we can set that up for you. Every stay is a little bit different, really depending on on the person and what we're offering at that time. But again, we always have wine available. And I say you can kind of treat it as if like you're camping. Um, if you're bringing your own tent, you got to bring everything. But if you are renting one of our lamping sites, then we have pillows, blankets, bedding, lights, all of the fun stuff. We have a new fire pit and we have two chairs down there, but we'll get more chairs as we go.

I know I just imagine how beautiful it must be at sunset when you can have, if you're a dog lover, you can have your dog with you, a glass of great wine and a fire pit.

That sounds good. Exactly and a great view.

And then we'll like the sunset is beautiful. It's one of my favorite things, but also in the morning, we're in the clouds, so we're basically covered in fog. So sometimes I that's my one of my other favorite things is to get up and just be in the clouds. It's really cool.

Oh my gosh, it makes me think of the care bears. That's awesome.

Go With The Flow Guidelines

SPEAKER_01 6:31

Yeah, and any other um guidelines or expectations guests should know before they book an overnight stay? Anything to prepare?

SPEAKER_02 6:40

Come as you are. I always like to say we always have a loose agenda. Sometimes it's a person's pet peeves. They need to know like exactly what the agenda is. And I'm always like, ah, it's you know, the time frame is ish, 10-ish, 11-ish. So I tell people, just please come up here and go with the flow. I did, like I said in the beginning, I have taken a strict, I guess, policy on the dogs, just because, you know, I have four dogs now at the time. So bringing another dog onto the property kind of puts a wrench in a lot of the things. But one thing that we are working on is getting a separate run. So we'll have um a two-run fence, like six gates, so everything is is pretty protected. But um, I'm excited to get that so when people come, they can let their dogs kind of run free. And then when we're doing meet and greets with some of our foster dogs, it'll be a great place for us to have um a meet and greet area. So I'm excited for the fencing to come up for the dogs. I don't really have like any strict policies. This is my fourth season, and things have changed per season because you know, you live and you learn.

And when you began offering the overnight experiences, did you have that in mind about the dogs and the fostering situation and then being able to decompress together and take that time?

SPEAKER_02 8:09

No, I didn't.

So it all kind of just came together.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It did. It really all did come together. I think in the beginning, like the first year, I had friends that that wanted to come and stay and pop their tent, and they brought their dogs, and it just kind of sparked something like I can see people wanting to do this. And then the first year too, I did harvest toast. So that was a lot of fun too, and it kind of opened my eyes to what other possibilities are of having people come up here.

Yeah, so the nonprofit is the bee and let live L I V project. So B is for Buster and Live is for Olivia, but you know, it kind of ties into the mission of the be and let live motto.
