From Esther sessions and EVP sessions, but Yeah, and so I guess we'll on that note, uh just real quick. So in the last well, not the last two episodes ago, my interview with Crimson, um, we talked about how putting together investigation episodes is uh real hard and a lot of work. So um this new, I guess, format, style, whatever, uh, for the investigations. What we are going to do is we are going to more so discuss things and we will still put in investigation clips. However, it is going to be fewer investigation clips, but they will be longer. So that way you get more of an idea of what's going on, what we're experiencing. And so, like, for example, the first thing that we're gonna talk about is an Estes method session that we did, and we're just gonna put the whole fucking thing in here.

We are, and I think that even goes to the point of the one of the reasons we're doing this is as we've continued to do this kind of work, this research, we've noticed that the less emphasis we put on structure, I guess, or uh filming, we get better results. So taking that approach of just playing the whole Esther session, but then deep diving into what it could mean, right? I think is probably better.

Uh yeah. And we'll get into our approach to things in a minute. But uh so Octagon Hall, yeah, we got we got the keys, got the keys to the kingdom, and Beth Beth and Barry headed out, left us there, and we well actually hold on, no, I'm totally lying. Before they even left. Yeah, we had the Yeah, when Beth was showing us around the property, so we went upstairs.

And in one of the rooms, we walked in. It's set up as a bedroom. We believe it would have been used as a bedroom, but we walked into this room and uh Damien, would you like to talk about what happened?

Yeah. And well, first off, it it it's worth noting that it was not only interesting, but it was one of the most negative experiences I've ever had in a haunted location, which is interesting, and we'll touch on this because it was the one negative thing that happened the whole night. Like after this, everything calmed down, but well, not calmed down, but got not negative.

So we sh we we were upstairs in this room, and oh man. All of a sudden, I the only thing I can think is like my heart area up here in the chest starts to hurt, like literally physically hurt. And I'm like, what the hell? You saw me, and I'm like, uh, you could tell I'm just like not feeling great. And like my hands to my chest, what the hell? Within seconds, I just sit down, dude. Like, I had to sit down, it was hurting, I was out of breath.

And this is sit down, like literally like on the fucking floor. You like dropped.

Dropped, yeah. I you know, Eric said that I was looking pale.

We literally thought you were having a heart attack.

Yeah, yeah. And that's I guess what it felt like. I'd never had one, but from what I can understand, that's maybe what it feels like. But um, they tell us, they go, yeah, this happens in this room specifically. Specifically to men. We think it's the spirit of so-and-so stabbing someone who says, whatever. But what I experienced uh is apparently very normal there. I've I don't know, I've never experienced anything like it. I didn't know about that people have those experiences there. I just went upstairs, I felt it, I hit the ground, and I was like, what the hell? She even looked at me, she's like, I'm gonna pull you out of here if this gets too bad.

But it quickly went away. And that was like the the only negative part of the whole investigation.

Yeah, it was interesting, and I mean, at least from an onlooker's perspective, it like appeared as if it was something that just kind of came out of nowhere and then went.

Well, it it's worth noting one of your favorite paranormal shows has been there. Dead Files.

Uh they're talking about negative energies and spirits and something to the effect of you're letting too many quote unquote ghost hunters come in here and stir up stuff, and this is causing them to be negative, right? So you and I thought about it. Is it possible that whatever's there saws come in and they thought, oh fuck, here's a group of ghost hunters, these people suck, and we're gonna do this to this person. But very shortly after finding out we don't do that.

Yeah, and it's it's interesting. The thing that is curious to me is so that happened.

Um is after that happened, both Beth and Barry, before they left, kind of gave the house a little, like they gave us a recommendation, if you will.

Well, they they told the kids that the babysitter's in charge and be really fucking nice to the babysitter and we'll be home by nine. You better be good.

No, I it's it was more than that because it wasn't just all right, we're leaving, bye, be good. You know, they were like, hey, these people are great, you're gonna have a good night, like we like them, they're good, you know, they like vouched for us, if you will, both of them. And so I personally do think that that very much had a lot to do with the how the rest of the evening went and the invest the rest of the investigation, because actually, and we'll, you know, get into this, but from my perspective, everything else moving forward, uh, we didn't really have any haunted experiences, if you will. It wasn't things with ghosts, it we didn't really experience things inside the house.

There's one thing that we gotta touch on. The first thing, actually, it's not even in our notes here, because you and I forget things so often.

The first thing that happened that we still can't make heads or tails of was an EVP session we did in that room where I felt the thing in my chest. Do you remember? And then we got the you hear, we ask it to communicate, and you hear. You remember that knock? And then for a long time, Eric was like, was I sitting in the chair? Was I moving? No, we tried that. Regardless, when we get started investigating, the first thing that we do is we wanted to just do a quick EVP session, and we did this in a few ways, meaning we we it was Nicole and I, and we tried the biological component. Like, if the question was, you know, what is your name as an example? I would ask it holding this digital recorder, wait a few ticks, send it over to Nicole, and she would ask the same question just to see if responses would come based on who was asking.

Um, well, I feel like that's a bad way of explaining it, so I'm gonna re-explain it just because if I was listening, I'd be like, I literally don't know what the fuck you're but yeah, biological component. So, yes, an EVP session, however, in my opinion, I think a lot of this is telepathic in terms of communication. And so we set down the recorder. Oftentimes we will have both a digital recorder and the tape recorder going at the same time. And one person, it'll be like, okay, this session, Damien, you're gonna ask the question. So you ask the question, wait a few minutes, I ask the same question, then repeat through however many questions we want to ask. And the thinking behind that is that you ask the question. If we're doing what most people do will do in an EVP session is say, Damien asked the question. I'm I'm no longer thinking about that question. Now I'm like, oh well, my turn's next. Now I gotta ask what question do I want to ask the ghost, you know? And so then my brain is chaos, right? Versus if we do the EVP session in the sense that like you ask the question, I ask the same question. You ask the next question, I ask the same question, right? We are both our intentions and our thoughts are both focused on the same thing.

So, anyway, there's your little no, I think that's a good point story. That's a really good point. I think to add to that, like, you know, for me, when I look at that, and I say the biological component, like if we do three questions, right? What is your name? Where are you from? Oh, what is my name, right? Whatever the questions are. If I ask them, and then you have the recorder and you ask them, if every time you ask a question, we get a response on EVP versus if I ask it, I get zero. There's a biological component potentially to you, it's called the psychic component, whatever it is, um uh tethered to that. So that is why I like to do that, I think, to see if there's if someone, if a person uh has the ability to get those EVP responses uh over the other.

Yes, so it's a dual purpose exercise. Yeah, and we did that two birds with one stone, if you will.

Come here. Yeah, get down. All right. Okay. So the next piece of this, we literally were doing a session and we audibly heard a knock, as so, two, I think, but it was not picked up on the recorder.

Yeah, and that was I think the interesting thing about this uh session just finding that we had captured those knocks, whatever you want to call them, on the recorder that we didn't hear audibly, and then we're doing another session, and we audibly hear knocking, yeah, but then the recorder didn't pick that up. So the yeah, that was definitely odd.

It's odd, but it's common.

And well, also just taking taking this to do a little note. This is why I personally like if you do an EVP session, I prefer to record it and listen back right in real time. Sure. Because then if you capture something, you can hear it right away, you can ask follow-up questions if you want, or in the event that you hear something audibly and you don't capture it, that's interesting.

It is interesting. Oh, it's very interesting. The other thing that's interesting that you mentioned that we do, and I want to touch on this for anyone listening, the fact that we used two different mediums at the same time, a digital recorder and an analog cassette tape recorder at the same time. What's interesting is even on the session that we got where you can hear the knocks, right? It's only from the digital recorder. It's not on the cassette recorder. Why is that interesting? Well, I won't go too deep into this, but research into EVPs shows that if you're using multiple recordings, whatever it is that's generating this noise is interacting with one of your recorders, and you can have one, two, you know, two or three or four different recorders, it's going to make itself known on one device. Very rarely, if at all, does it come up on every device? That's interesting to me. We had that happen.

And that's talking about like actual EVPs, by the way. Because I know like hearing that, even my brain's like, oh, well, when we get the knocks in Hill House, whatever, you know, like, but that's stuff that we are audibly hearing. We're talking about a true EVP, electronic voice phenomenon.

But it is also interesting that the second portion of this, we heard an audible knock that was not recorded on any of our devices. Going back to what you just said, we've been in places like Hill House where we've heard a thing audibly, and it's either one of two things. A, it's doesn't show up on a recording device or it does, but it's so low. Like the volume you can't hear it, even though in real person it was massively loud.

So uh yeah, that's how the evening kicked off there. But um the next thing that we want to go into is we did that upstairs, and then I think we kind of walked around for a minute, and I was like, I just don't really feel things. I feel like we need to go outside.

So I'll tell you why. So this is important to note uh because the house or the land or whatever, it kind of did this. So when we first went upstairs, before I even had the thing where I felt the pain in my chest, whatever, even before that, you and I both get upstairs and we're like, wow, this feels different. There was a feeling at the time, and then boom, that hits me. It almost seems like after that, there wasn't the feeling that you get of like, oh, things are active or things are on fire, it felt just normal. It just felt normal, and that is interesting to me because it doesn't mean that the activity wasn't there, which we're gonna get to, but you didn't have that thing that you can typically typically get at a haunted location. There was no negative feeling, there was no heaviness.

Yeah. Uh yeah, so I was like, yeah, don't really feel anything. Let's go outside. And before we get here though, I just okay, I have two prefaces.

Real quick, it's worth noting you walked around the entirety of the house to get a feeling, and there was nothing in before you decided let's go outside.

Yes. Um, so the other thing that was really interesting to me about Octagon Hall, now obviously, yes, I knew that we were coming here, hence why I didn't, you know, I haven't done a walk or any mediumship stuff, whatever. Like I knew where we were going, I planned the fucking itinerary, okay. But when we were talking to Beth in the beginning about, you know, reported activity, things that people experience, she noted things that we have not heard on any other haunted location that we've been to. She starts talking about how outside people will see UFOs and they've had a big foot and they've seen portals opening, all this like crazy stuff.

We have heard that about one location. 100%.

Well, Hill House, sure, but that's only because we like specifically have talked to Kathy and Sonny about that. That's not stuff that they will like openly disclose, if you will. Like if you go on their tour, they're not talking about this because it's an important lesson for anyone that likes to investigate the paranormal.

Yeah, uh, yeah. So anyway, so yeah, she's talking about this stuff. Uh oh, Mothman too. Mothman, we love Mothman. So, yeah, so obviously, like, yeah, we need to go outside. So that was just interesting. So we I I wasn't feeling anything in the house. I'm like, yeah, I just feel like we need to go outside. So we do that, and we did an Estus session, which ended up being, I don't know, apparently insane. I never know what's going on during these because I, you know, can't see anything, and all I can hear is the spirit box sweeping. Um, but before we give a brief, like, here's what to kind of listen for as you listen to the entirety of this clip, I also want to take a moment to talk a bit about our approach to paranormal investigating because it has the more and more that I've done this, that you've done this, that we've been doing this together, our thinking and our methods has changed, and you know, as we do as human, it it grows and evolves.

Yeah, I think grows and evolves is a better choice. Changed, yes and no. But look, the clip that we are gonna play, we're gonna do a longer clip of it of these Estes sessions that we do, because first off, our approach and our thinking to what that means when you do a spirit box session, I think is wildly different. You and I are both fixated on this idea of the subconscious or the psychic component to what's going on there. So, regardless, we have wild Estes sessions together. I mean, they're just wild, and you're gonna hear that. So that's why we're gonna play this entirety of this clip. After the clip, though, I really want to dive into things that will not be apparent at first until you think about it, and then when you go back and listen to it, you're like, holy fuck. It even gets more wild. But regardless, you were right. We went outside, you were sitting, we were on the porch. You're sitting in a chair, you put the head the headphones on. Uh I believe I had you using the SB7, I believe. I believe it was the SB7. Um and you had it on near AM. I think you, I don't know if you went reverse or full or for uh forward, I don't know, it doesn't matter.

We were seeing this stuff like in the tops of the trees and in the sky, and those trees were significantly higher than even that the house.

Like and um the best way to describe what it looked like, there's this uh the band bush uh on their very first record. There's a dog on there that has like dreadlocks or whatever, like one of those dogs that has like dreadlocks, and it kind of looked like one of those dogs just going tree to tree, boom, boom, boom, boom, and we would see it. And that was pretty wild because when I saw it at first, I'm like, okay, like what is that? And then I noticed Eric saw it. We were seeing it multiple times. Uh, we were seeing the trees sort of react to it. So, like it would go into a tree and you'd see the rustling of the of the trees. So that was that was something interesting. So, but here's where things I think get profound with this Esther session that everyone just heard. There's a moment where you hear Eric and I kind of freaking out about something that we are seeing, and it is down off the porch, and in the light, there's a um almost like a well, it's a light. Like a street light basically on the property there. And we're seeing this thing flying like a shadow moving quickly on the ground. Yeah, and at first I'm looking at it, I'm like, what the hell is that? Eric sees it, he's like, okay, this is wild.

Yeah, and when you see it in the video, because we um again, this entire trip, we live streamed all of the investigation. During your Estes session, the second we notice that I'm looking at it, and you start getting messages saying, don't go there. And look, this is an important thing that I've thought a lot about. When you started saying that, don't go there, in my mind and in Eric's mind, we went to what I think a lot of us in the paranormal world are naturally sort of trained to do, which is go to the neck negative something must be bad.

So Eric's like, Damien, don't go down there, and I'm like, I'm going, you know, like I'm all brave or whatever. And yeah, like you said, you're like, listen, you're not listening, is what the thing kept saying.

What's interesting is we were, it's like we were hearing but not listening, in the in the sense of we were taking it to a where I think a lot of investigators would take it, which is oh, there's something ominous that that that's over there. But once we found out that what we were even looking at was completely not paranormal in nature at all, I thought very deeply about this and I thought, well man, that Esther session was interesting because we weren't put more we should put more stock into what's coming through. You were something was literally going through you and telling us that's not real. Don't look there.

Yeah, and this is kind of like we did discuss this part, and I was like, it it feels kind of like mediumship to me in the sense that as soon as I start trying to interpret something, I'm wrong, versus just literally saying what I'm seeing, receiving, whatever, because it might not make any fucking sense to me, but to the person, it might make perfect sense, you know? And so I think that's kind of what y'all were doing. You were interpreting it, if you will, and putting it into your own your own lens of like, oh well, it's saying this, so it must mean blah blah blah, versus like, no, it is literally just saying, like, don't go down there because they're like, it's literally a bug.

So I truly believe that whatever was coming through was that, and it was basically in its own way saying, no, no, you're looking in the wrong place. And I think that was a profound uh learning, I think, lesson for us in a lot of ways, because uh again, I think when we're doing sessions like this, like that is such an interesting thing to have happen. We're looking at something that we think might be wild, but it's really not, and we're missing the whole the real story. And I that's gotta be the craziest thing about that session to me.

Yes, and I do also want to note on that as you're talking, and we've kind of talked about this before too, in terms of like a lot of times when we do our Estus sessions, it will basically be a back and forth conversation. And so I've we've talked about this where it's like, I don't know, like I feel like normal people are gonna listen to this and be like, oh, they're fucking faking it, they're making it up, whatever, you know. But it's like even okay, if we're talking about this exact circumstance, first of all, yes, I have the headphones on, I can't hear anything anyway.

But even if, let's say, even if I could hear something, you were literally just being like, oh, look here, you know, and like I'm not gonna be able to, like, there were times where I'm like pointing at exactly where you guys were standing, or pointing somewhere else and being like, no, look here, you know, like it's a point that I made on the trip because it is something that I think I don't know that we put a lot of emphasis on really, but people that have witnessed this or seen it, and even me, what every time we do it, I'm still kind of blown away, but we are very good together at doing something like the Estes method, and and it seems to we get some really great conversations.

Yeah, I feel like that's almost like the the insects is almost it's like louder than anything.

So, no, our sessions are interesting, and uh yeah, that one that you just heard is pretty profound because of what was going on at the time. Um, and I wish we could convey that what we were seeing with the the Mothman creatures, uh that's the only way to describe them and the wild stuff in the sky.

And the other thing I think that's interesting though about that specific session um is so yeah, we were live streaming everything the entire time. And so afterwards, later that night, we go back and we're like, oh, like I wonder if we caught some of those lights on the video. Um and so we went back and we looked and you know, we're watching it, and you could very clearly it they were some of it, wasn't all of them. We knew that y'all said it hadn't captured everything, but the ones that it captured, they did look very bright.

But then when we went back, yeah, the next day, the next day they were not the same, which is something that we I feel like we need to do a wine and spirits episode all about, which is like our theories on why that should happen. Yes, because we have wild stories uh in relation to that, but uh just like on the audio that you heard just now of the Esther session, there was more even happening besides the crypt. There was the baseball-sized Eric and I both saw it, green glowing ball floating around around us and would disappear. And that was uh that was wild. And so the activity that was going on there, yes, when you look at the video and at first you see that it's there, and then you look back the next day and it's seemingly just gone. That is well, it's profound.

So it's it's something that happens, but it was just interesting that it seemed to be so prevalent at this location.

So if a spirit box is a basically a broken radio that that allows for the sweeping of the stations, a regular radio does not. So we tune it to the shortwave band to in between uh stations uh where there would be no nothing coming through, just white noise. And we've been experimenting with that to do E VP sessions. Um so there's two kinds of responses you're gonna get in this work, and and one of them is you you use the white noise, you hit record on your recorder, you ask questions. You hear nothing, but then you play it back, and then you're gonna have this recorded voice onto your recording medium, which is an EVP. An EVP. But then there's the direct radio response, the direct voice response, basically, I should say DVR, where you have that static going and you're asking the questions, you've made the connection, and you're getting direct responses coming through, which is what happens on the next clip we're about to play. And it's an interesting thing when it happens because you can almost tell when it's going to because the way the static sounds and the kind of the radio kind of interacts with what's going on. But this next session, I wouldn't, yeah, this is our E VP session downstairs. And again, we're not sure even if this little girl is down there or if she would burn there, we don't know. But we wanted to try to make contact down there anyways. I don't even think that we tried to talk to her. I think we really were just trying to talk to anything there.

I kept kind of like walking back and forth, like in and out of that doorway, because I was like, I don't know, like, can you like come in here and like trying to figure out if it was just like what was going on there? But he didn't ever really move or do anything, so I I don't know.

It would be wild to think if you know they have the theory uh that maybe when we're in these locations it's not necessarily a ghost, but we're seeing that time period, and maybe they're seeing us as ghosts as well. But can you imagine this poor soldier goes upstairs? Yeah, and he's like, This ground is haunted. I went downstairs, and there's a woman ghost. And apparently in the future, women think and have illustrations on their bodies. Snakes and everything like that. That's the interesting thing to think about, right? Like you could be interesting. Yeah, that's why his head was kind of tilted. He's like, the fuck is this woman talking about? You know? And like he would see like what we're dressed in, and to them would be very weird and foreign.

I feel like even just this episode, I just have to say, like talking about these things and like sharing these little clips, whatever, like it is not at all going to do like justice, even even close, even remotely close to like doing justice to this investigation because it was just so uh magical.

Um but yeah, a lot of this stuff, even in the you know, the Session on the Porch, it is very centered around um and almost like interacting with in a way the things that you guys are physically seeing.

Yeah, and I mean we did like there are some clips um from the the live stream because we live streamed the entire investigation, but like we talked about, you know, when we first watched it, they actually did look very bright. But then the next day we went back because as we were leaving, we were like, fuck, like I really hope that all of this evidence is still gonna be there because that very much is a thing. That shit will like get deleted or disappear. Um, and so it is still there, but the lights, they were not as all not at all as bright. That's just like crazy to me. Like it's the same video. Like, what the fuck, what how does that happen? I don't know.

So for anyone listening, the experiences here, you know, Eric was with us and he got to luckily he got to experience this as well because it's not something that a lot of people so it's not just the two of us having a dual psychosis. Poor you, sitting there with the eyes closed and you're doing this. But maybe if if we weren't doing that, the phenomena wouldn't have been happening, right? Like if all three of us were just looking around, I think we needed that.

Well, yeah, and I mean it kind of goes to your you mentioned this earlier that in terms of the biological component, right? And I think this is more along the lines of how we both kind of view this stuff now, where it very much is more like like there's the whole everything's connected, right? Whatever, but it's like it it requires that like energetic connection, you know. And we even got that, like looking at our notebook where we write it down, the use her body, you know, right, and like tapping into that energy or like emitting that that energy field, you know, and we even oh my god, we didn't even talk about the creepy ass speaking of emitting the energy field. Um, after when we were on the porch when we did that EVP or the whatever Estes session, but then afterwards, you know, I take the headphones off and you're like, oh, we're getting things, whatever. Um, and I think you had told me about that or something because I was like, well, let's do energy work then and see if that helps and if that if that makes it pop off. Well, we there's no sound.

And Eric is someone who's seen us do this before, and he he has said that it was almost uh not life changing, it's like he said that it it shifted the entire energy that you watch his viewpoint on things because he said he watched us as we did it in the whole room, he just felt the energy change. So there's this great video where I say it, I'm like, I'm gonna push my energy to Nicole, and I'm doing that, I'm focused, and I'm staring at you while I do it. After a bit of time, you turn your head over and you're like, Why are you looking at me? It feels weird. I can feel you looking at me, and I start laughing. I say, No, you can't feel me looking at you. I'm literally have just said, I'm gonna attempt to push my energy to Nicole, and then you feel it, right?

So obviously we have precious cargo, we have our medium that we have to take care of. So Eric and I go outside, and we walk down the driveway, and the car is gone. And we're walking down this driveway, and I'm thinking, I'm like, fuck, they're signaling something with their flashings, so there must be someone on this property. Eric and I are pulling flashlights around, we get real bold, real brave. We're like, you know what I'm gonna kick your ass, blah blah blah blah blah. Nothing happened, but that was interesting because it goes back to what if we're interacting with these things in the sky? Maybe it's UFO related, maybe that car had MIPs in that bitch.
