The Yielded Mind Podcast
Created for those who desire lasting transformation, this podcast guides you through the daily practice of renewing your mind through the work of the indwelling Holy Spirit. In a world filled with pressure, noise, and constant demands, many attempt to change through effort, discipline, and control. True transformation does not come from striving. Transformation comes as the mind yields to the Spirit of God already at work within. Your host is Eric Hayes, minister, teacher, and author of The Yielded Mind. His work equips believers to step out of self-driven effort and walk in daily surrender, where the Holy Spirit brings lasting change from within. This is not a podcast for reflection. This is a pathway to transformation.

Before your mind can be renewed, truth must first be revealed.
Welcome to Day 1 of The Yielded Mind – A 50-Day Journey of Reflection and Renewal. As Revelation Week begins, you'll discover the foundation upon which every lasting transformation is built. Before God changes how you live, He lovingly changes how you see yourself. Through Romans 8:16, the Holy Spirit reveals that your identity is not rooted in your performance, but in your relationship with your heavenly Father.
In today's episode, you'll learn why the Holy Spirit continually assures believers that they belong to God, why your identity can never be determined by success or failure, and how a yielded mind begins by agreeing with what God has already declared to be true.
Today's Scripture: Romans 8:16 (English Standard Version)
In This Episode:
- Why revelation always precedes renewal
- How the Holy Spirit bears witness that you are God's child
- Why your identity is never determined by your performance
- The assurance of belonging to your heavenly Father
- How the yielded mind comes into agreement with God's truth
- A guided prayer to rest confidently in your identity as God's beloved child
Key Truth: "Your identity is not determined by your performance. It is securely rooted in your relationship with your heavenly Father, confirmed by the Holy Spirit."
Reflection Question: What have you been allowing to define your identity instead of resting in the Holy Spirit's testimony that you are God's beloved child?
Prayer Focus: Ask the Holy Spirit to renew your mind by assuring you that you belong to the Father, replacing every false identity with the confidence of being His beloved child.

Welcome to The Yielded Mind's 50-day journey of reflection and renewal. My name is Eric Hayes, and this is your daily invitation to quiet the noise, yield your thoughts to the indwelling Holy Spirit, and allow Him to renew your mind through the truth of scripture. If you've not done so already, please download your free companion journal by visiting theyieldedmind.com and clicking The Journal.
SpeakerDoing so will best equip you to follow along as we walk through these 50 days together. Now, please pause and begin where every yielded mind begins, gratitude. In your journal, write down three things you're grateful for today. Consider sharing those gratefuls with someone you love, because gratitude shared strengthens both the one that gives thanks and the one that receives it.
SpeakerNow take a slow breath and prepare your heart for today's passage and teaching. Ask the Lord to make His word personal. Ask Him for revelation. Ask Him to expose all things that need to come under His authority. The yielded mind is formed through surrender. Open your heart. Open your journal. Open your mind to the indwelling Holy Spirit. Here is today's teaching.

Welcome to day one of your fifty-day journey of reflection and renewal. We begin this journey in revelation. Before your mind can be renewed, truth must first be revealed. Throughout this week, you'll discover who God says you are and learn to see yourself as He sees you. Today's lesson is called God Knows You, and today's scripture passage is from Romans chapter eight, verse sixteen, and I'll be reading from the ESV translation.
Speaker"The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God." Now, consider what the Holy Spirit is teaching you through this passage. Romans eight is one of the most encouraging chapters in all of Scripture, describing the life of a believer who is yielded to and led by the indwelling Holy Spirit.
SpeakerThe Holy Spirit bears witness with your spirit. This is the assurance of your relationship with God. Before your emotions agree, before your circumstances improve, and while your mind is still being renewed, the Holy Spirit is already testifying that you belong to the Father. That is why your identity is never built on success or failure.
SpeakerYour identity rests upon what God has declared to be true. Paul goes on to say that those who are led by the Spirit are sons and daughters of God. Think about that for a moment. The God who created the heavens and the earth has not simply forgiven your sins. He has brought you into His family. The Holy Spirit continually reminds you that this relationship is real.
SpeakerHe doesn't point you back to your failures. He points you to your Father. This is where the yielded mind begins. As you yield your mind to the indwelling Holy Spirit, your thoughts gradually come into agreement with the testimony He is already declaring within your spirit. You stop defining yourself by your past, your achievements, or the opinions of others.
SpeakerInstead, you begin to see yourself as your heavenly Father sees you. You are His beloved child. Today, yield your mind to this truth. Your identity is not determined by your performance. It is securely rooted in your relationship with the Heavenly Father, confirmed by the Holy Spirit. Let's pray. Father, thank you for loving the listener today enough to call them your own.
SpeakerI pray that your Holy Spirit would continually bear witness with their spirit, assuring them that they belong to you through Jesus Christ. When they are tempted to measure their worth by success, failure, or the opinions of others, remind them, Father, that their identity is firmly established as your beloved child.
SpeakerRenew their mind as they yield their thoughts, their will, and their emotions to you. May they walk in the confidence, freedom, and assurance that come from knowing you as their Father. And I pray this in the precious and perfect name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen. As today's teaching comes to a close, do not rush past what the Holy Spirit may be revealing. Return now to your journal. Write down the revelation you have received. What truth stood out? What challenged your thinking? Next, prayerfully consider opportunities to serve today. Ask God who He might place in your path.
SpeakerSpeaker
How can you encourage, help, listen to, strengthen, or simply be present for someone in need? Be specific. Journal who, when, and how you plan to serve. And finally, as your day comes to an end this evening, return once more to your journal and invite the indwelling Holy Spirit to debrief about your day. Where was obedience strong?
SpeakerWhere might repentance be needed? Are there persons to whom you owe an amends? End this day where it began, fully yielded to the indwelling mind of Christ, and I'll meet you again tomorrow on this fifty-day journey of reflection and renewal. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. In Jesus' name, amen.W
