The Yielded Mind Podcast
Created for those who desire lasting transformation, this podcast guides you through the daily practice of renewing your mind through the work of the indwelling Holy Spirit. In a world filled with pressure, noise, and constant demands, many attempt to change through effort, discipline, and control. True transformation does not come from striving. Transformation comes as the mind yields to the Spirit of God already at work within. Your host is Eric Hayes, minister, teacher, and author of The Yielded Mind. His work equips believers to step out of self-driven effort and walk in daily surrender, where the Holy Spirit brings lasting change from within. This is not a podcast for reflection. This is a pathway to transformation.

Welcome to Day 12 of The Yielded Mind – A 50-Day Journey of Reflection and Renewal. As Conflict Week continues, you'll discover that the direction of your thinking shapes the direction of your life. Every day, you choose where your mind will dwell. Through Romans 8:6, you'll learn that a mind set on the flesh leads away from God's best, while a mind continually yielded to the Holy Spirit produces the life and peace that only He can give.
In today's episode, you'll learn the difference between a mind governed by the flesh and a mind led by the Spirit, why peace is the fruit of a yielded mind, and how the Holy Spirit faithfully renews your thinking one decision at a time.

Welcome to the Yielded Mind's 50-day journey of reflection and renewal. My name is Eric Hayes, and this is your daily invitation to quiet the noise, yield your thoughts to the indwelling Holy Spirit, and allow Him to renew your mind through the truth of Scripture. If you've not done so already, please download your free companion journal by visiting theyieldedmind.com and clicking The Journal. Doing so will best equip you to follow along as we walk through these 50 days together. Now, please pause and begin where every yielded mind begins, gratitude. In your journal, write down three things you're grateful for today. Consider sharing those gratefuls with someone you love, because gratitude shared strengthens both the one that gives thanks and the one that receives it. Now, take a slow breath and prepare your heart for today's passage and teaching. Ask the Lord to make His Word personal. Ask Him for revelation. Ask Him to expose all things that need to come under His authority. The yielded mind is formed through surrender. Open your heart. Open your journal. Open your mind to the indwelling Holy Spirit. Here is today's teaching. Welcome to day 12 of your 50 day journey of reflection and renewal. This week you're learning to recognize the conflict that takes place within every believer. You've discovered that the battle between the spirit and the flesh is real, that your thoughts must be brought under the authority of Jesus Christ, that every voice should be tested against God's word, and that God is faithful in every temptation. Today you'll discover that the focus of your mind determines the focus of your life. Today's lesson is called The Mind Set on the Spirit, and today's passage is from Romans chapter 8 verse 6, and I'm in the ESV translation For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. Let's consider what the Holy Spirit is teaching through this passage. Paul presents two completely different ways of thinking. One mind is set on the flesh, the other is set on the Spirit. The difference is not simply what occupies your thoughts. The difference is the pathway your mind continually chooses. A mind set on the flesh is governed by self. Self seeks control, pursues temporary satisfaction, and resists God's authority. And left unchecked, that way of thinking always leads away from the abundant life Christ desires for you. A mind set on the Spirit moves in a completely different direction. The Holy Spirit continually turns your attention toward Christ, God's truth, and God's purposes. As you yield your mind to Him, friend, He reshapes your thinking. Fear begins to give way to faith. Anxiety gives way to peace. Self-reliance gives way to dependence upon God. Notice that Paul doesn't tell you to produce peace. He tells you where peace is found. Life and peace are the natural fruit of a mind that is continually yielded to the Holy Spirit. Peace doesn't come because every problem disappears. Peace comes because your mind rests in the presence and promises of God. Every day you choose where your mind will dwell. You can allow fear, resentment, comparison, and worry to direct your thinking, or you can intentionally set your mind on the truth of God's Word and the leading of His Spirit. The choice shapes the path of your life, and this is yet another step in the yielded mind. As you consistently set your mind on the Holy Spirit, your thinking becomes more like the mind of Christ. Your circumstances may not immediately change, but your perspective surely will. A yielded and renewed mind learns to see every circumstance through the faithfulness of God instead of allowing every circumstance to define God's faithfulness. Today, yield your mind to this truth: a mind continually yielded to the Holy Spirit produces the life and peace that only God can give. Let's pray. Father, thank you for offering this listener a life marked by your abundant peace. Turn their thoughts toward you today whenever fear, anxiety, or distraction competes for their attention. Renew their mind as they yield their thoughts, their will, and their emotions to your indwelling Holy Spirit. Help them recognize the difference between the voice of the flesh and the voice of your Spirit. May your presence steady their thinking, strengthen their faith, and fill them with the peace that comes from keeping their mind fixed upon you. And I pray this in the precious and perfect name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen. As today's teaching comes to a close, do not rush past what the Holy Spirit may be revealing. Return now to your journal. Write down the revelation you have received. What truth stood out? What challenged your thinking? Next, prayerfully consider opportunities to serve today. Ask God who He might place in your path. How can you encourage, help, listen to, strengthen, or simply be present for someone in need? Be specific. Journal who, when, and how you plan to serve. And finally, as your day comes to an end this evening, return once more to your journal and invite the indwelling Holy Spirit to debrief about your day. Where was obedience strong? Where might repentance be needed? Are there persons to whom you owe an amends? End this day where it began, fully yielded to the indwelling mind of Christ, and I'll meet you again tomorrow on this fifty-day journey of reflection and renewal. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. In Jesus' name, amen.
