 Welcome to the Yielded Mind's 50-day journey of reflection and renewal. My name is Eric Hayes, and this is your daily invitation to quiet the noise, yield your thoughts to the indwelling Holy Spirit, and allow Him to renew your mind through the truth of Scripture. Doing so will best equip you to follow along as we walk through these 50 days together. Now, please pause and begin where every yielded mind begins, gratitude. In your journal, write down three things you're grateful for today. Consider sharing those gratefuls with someone you love, because gratitude shared strengthens both the one that gives thanks and the one that receives it. Now take a slow breath and prepare your heart for today's passage and teaching. Ask the Lord to make His Word personal. Ask Him for revelation. Ask Him to expose all things that need to come under His authority. The yielded mind is formed through surrender. Open your heart. Open your journal. Open your mind to the indwelling Holy Spirit. Here is today's teaching. Welcome to day 13 of your 50-day journey of reflection and renewal. This week, you're discovering that the conflict between the spirit and the flesh is real, that your thoughts must be brought under the authority of Christ, that every voice should be tested against God's Word, that God is faithful in every temptation, and that a mind set on the Spirit produces life and peace. Today, you'll discover that victory is never accomplished through your own strength. Today's lesson is called Strength Through God, and today's passage is found in Philippians 4:13, and I am reading from the ESV translation I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 is one of the best-known verses in the Bible, yet it is often misunderstood and frankly misapplied. Many people read these words as a promise that God will help them accomplish any goal they choose. Paul, however, is teaching something far deeper. When Paul wrote this letter, he was imprisoned because of his faith in Jesus. The verses leading up to this passage reveal that Paul had learned to be content, whether he had plenty or very little, whether life was comfortable or difficult. His confidence wasn't rooted in favorable circumstances. His confidence was rooted in Jesus Christ Himself. Notice Paul's words carefully. He does not say, "I am strong." Paul says, "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." The source of Paul's strength was never Paul. The source was Christ. The same truth applies to you and your life. God never asks you to overcome temptation by your own determination, your own strength. He never asks you to defeat the flesh through willpower alone. The Christian life was never designed to be lived by human strength. The indwelling Holy Spirit supplies the strength to first obey, then endure, forgive, persevere, and remain faithful, and that truth brings great freedom. You, friend, no longer have to ask, "Am I strong enough?" A better question is, "Am I depending upon the one who is?" Every time you yield your mind to the indwelling Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, you acknowledge your dependence upon God's strength instead of your own. Dependence is not weakness. Dependence is the posture of every mature believer. A yielded mind stops striving to live the Christian life through self-effort and begins trusting the indwelling Holy Spirit to provide the strength God has already promised. Today, friend, yield your mind to this truth. Christ will faithfully provide the strength you need for every circumstances as you depend upon Him. Let's pray. Father, thank you for being the source of strength for this listener. When discouragement, temptation, or weakness threatens to overwhelm them, remind them that they were never called to overcome life's battles alone. Strengthen them through your indwelling Holy Spirit to trust you more fully and depend upon you more completely. Renew their mind as they yield their thoughts, their will, and their emotions to you. Father, fill them with the quiet confidence that comes from knowing your strength is always sufficient for every challenge they face. And I pray this in the precious and perfect name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen. As today's teaching comes to a close, do not rush past what the Holy Spirit may be revealing. Return now to your journal. Write down the revelation you have received. What truth stood out? What challenged your thinking? Next, prayerfully consider opportunities to serve today. Ask God who He might place in your path. How can you encourage, help, listen to, strengthen, or simply be present for someone in need? Be specific. Journal who, when, and how you plan to serve. And finally, as your day comes to an end this evening, return once more to your journal and invite the indwelling Holy Spirit to debrief about your day. Where was obedience strong? Where might repentance be needed? Are there persons to whom you owe an amends? End this day where it began, fully yielded to the indwelling mind of Christ, and I'll meet you again tomorrow on this fifty-day journey of reflection and renewal. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. In Jesus' name, amen.
