Welcome to Day 15 of The Yielded Mind – A 50-Day Journey of Reflection and Renewal. As Discipline Week begins, you'll discover that spiritual disciplines are not about earning God's favor but about creating space for the Holy Spirit to transform your life. Through Romans 12:2, you'll learn that God changes your life by first renewing your mind through His Word, prayer, gratitude, and daily obedience.

Welcome to the Yielded Mind's 50-day journey of reflection and renewal. My name is Eric Hayes, and this is your daily invitation to quiet the noise, yield your thoughts to the indwelling Holy Spirit, and allow Him to renew your mind through the truth of scripture. If you've not done so already, please download your free companion journal by visiting theyieldedmind.com and clicking The Journal. Doing so will best equip you to follow along as we walk through these 50 days together. Now, please pause and begin where every yielded mind begins, gratitude. In your journal, write down three things you're grateful for today. Consider sharing those gratefuls with someone you love, because gratitude shared strengthens both the one that gives thanks and the one that receives it. Now, take a slow breath and prepare your heart for today's passage and teaching. Ask the Lord to make His word personal. Ask Him for revelation. Ask Him to expose all things that need to come under His authority. The yielded mind is formed through surrender. Open your heart. Open your journal. Open your mind to the indwelling Holy Spirit. Here is today's teaching. Welcome to day 15 of your 50-day journey of reflection and renewal. This week, your journey centers on discipline. Revelation week helped you see who God says you are. Conflict week taught you that the Christian life includes a real battle between the spirit and the flesh. Discipline is where you begin to practice living differently. Discipline does not earn God's favor. Discipline trains your mind to respond to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Today's lesson is called Renewing the Mind, and today's passage is found in Romans 12 verse 2, reading from the ESV translation. "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." Romans 12 marks a turning point in Paul's letter. After spending 11 chapters explaining the gospel and the mercy of God, Paul begins describing how a transformed life is lived. His first instruction is not to work harder. His first instruction is to think differently. Paul says, "Do not be conformed to this world." The word conformed, friend, describes being pressed into a mold. Every day, the world attempts to shape your thinking, your values, and your priorities. Left unchecked, your mind naturally begins to reflect the culture around you rather than the character of Christ. Paul offers a different path. Be transformed by the renewal of your mind. The Greek word translated transformed is metamorpho, the same word used to describe the transfiguration of Jesus. A complete change takes place from the inside out. That transformation, that metamorpho, begins as the Holy Spirit uses God's Word to reshape the way you think. A renewed mind doesn't happen by accident. God renews your thinking as you consistently place yourself before His Word, spend time in prayer, worship Him with gratitude, and respond in obedience to what He reveals. Those daily choices are spiritual disciplines. Discipline is not about proving your love for God. Discipline places your mind where the Holy Spirit can continue His transforming work. Every time you open God's Word, every time you pause to pray, every time you choose gratitude over complaint, every time you obey what God has revealed to you, your mind is being renewed and your life is being transformed. Today, friend, yield your mind to this truth. God renews your mind through His Word and the faithful work of His indwelling Holy Spirit as you return to Him each and every day. Let's pray. Father, thank you for loving this listener enough to transform them rather than leave them as they are. I pray that you would create within them a growing desire to spend time in your word, to seek you in prayer, and to listen carefully to the voice of your indwelling Holy Spirit. Renew their mind as they yield their thoughts, their will, and their emotions to you. Form new habits that draw them closer to Jesus Christ and continue the good work you have begun in their life. And I pray this in the precious and perfect name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen. As today's teaching comes to a close, do not rush past what the Holy Spirit may be revealing. Return now to your journal. Write down the revelation you have received. What truth stood out? What challenged your thinking? Next, prayerfully consider opportunities to serve today. Ask God who He might place in your path. How can you encourage, help, listen to, strengthen, or simply be present for someone in need? Be specific. Journal who, when, and how you plan to serve. And finally, as your day comes to an end this evening, return once more to your journal and invite the indwelling Holy Spirit to debrief about your day. Where was obedience strong? Where might repentance be needed? Are there persons to whom you owe an amends? End this day where it began, fully yielded to the indwelling mind of Christ, and I'll meet you again tomorrow on this fifty-day journey of reflection and renewal. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. In Jesus' name, amen.
