The Yielded Mind Podcast
Created for those who desire lasting transformation, this podcast guides you through the daily practice of renewing your mind through the work of the indwelling Holy Spirit. In a world filled with pressure, noise, and constant demands, many attempt to change through effort, discipline, and control. True transformation does not come from striving. Transformation comes as the mind yields to the Spirit of God already at work within. Your host is Eric Hayes, minister, teacher, and author of The Yielded Mind. His work equips believers to step out of self-driven effort and walk in daily surrender, where the Holy Spirit brings lasting change from within. This is not a podcast for reflection. This is a pathway to transformation.

Freedom begins by remaining in God's Word.
Welcome to Day 16 of The Yielded Mind – A 50-Day Journey of Reflection and Renewal. As Discipline Week continues, you'll discover that a renewed mind is cultivated through a daily relationship with God's Word. Jesus teaches that freedom isn't found in occasional exposure to Scripture but in continually abiding in it. Through John 8:31–32, you'll learn that as you remain in God's Word, the Holy Spirit renews your thinking and leads you into the freedom found in Christ.
In today's episode, you'll learn what it means to abide in God's Word, why discipline is the steady practice of returning to Scripture, and how the Holy Spirit uses God's truth to transform your mind and shape your life.

Welcome to the Yielded Mind's 50-day journey of reflection and renewal. My name is Eric Hayes, and this is your daily invitation to quiet the noise, yield your thoughts to the indwelling Holy Spirit, and allow Him to renew your mind through the truth of scripture. If you've not done so already, please download your free companion journal by visiting theyieldedmind.com and clicking The Journal. Doing so will best equip you to follow along as we walk through these 50 days together. Now, please pause and begin where every yielded mind begins, gratitude. In your journal, write down three things you're grateful for today. Consider sharing those gratefuls with someone you love, because gratitude shared strengthens both the one that gives thanks and the one that receives it. Now, take a slow breath and prepare your heart for today's passage and teaching. Ask the Lord to make His word personal. Ask Him for revelation. Ask Him to expose all things that need to come under His authority. The yielded mind is formed through surrender. Open your heart. Open your journal. Open your mind to the indwelling Holy Spirit. Here is today's teaching. Welcome to day 16 of your 50-day journey of reflection and renewal. This week, your journey centers on discipline. Revelation helped you see who God says you are. Conflict taught you that the Christian life includes a real battle between the spirit and the flesh. Discipline is where you begin to practice living differently. Discipline does not earn God's favor. Discipline trains your mind to respond to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Yesterday, in day 15, you discovered that God renews your mind through His Word and through the work of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Today, you'll discover why remaining in God's Word is essential for a renewed mind. Today's lesson is called Remaining in the Word, and today's scripture is found in John chapter eight, verses 31 and 32, and I'm reading from the ESV translation. "So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, 'If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.'" Jesus makes a remarkable statement, friend. Freedom begins by remaining in His Word. Notice that Jesus does not say, "If you occasionally read my Word." He says, "If you abide in my Word." The word abide means to remain, to continue, or to dwell. A disciple doesn't visit God's truth from time to time. A disciple chooses to live there. Many people know verses of Scripture. Far fewer allow Scripture to shape the way they think. The difference is discipline. Returning to God's Word each day trains your mind to recognize truth. Over time, the Holy Spirit uses that truth to expose deception, replace old patterns of thinking, and strengthen your confidence in God's promises. Jesus then makes another profound statement: "You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." Truth is more than information. Truth, friend, is a person. Jesus later declared, "I am the way and the truth and the life." As you remain in His Word, you come to know Him more deeply. That relationship changes the way you think, and renewed thinking changes the way you live. Freedom doesn't come from following your feelings. Freedom comes from submitting your mind to the truth of God's Word. Every day you return to Scripture, the Holy Spirit has another opportunity to renew your thinking. Every passage you meditate upon becomes another reminder of who God is, what He has promised, and how He desires you to live. Discipline is not measured by perfection. Discipline is the steady decision to return to God's Word again today. Yield your mind to this truth. As you remain in God's Word, the Holy Spirit renews your mind and leads you into the freedom found in Jesus Christ. Let's pray. Father, thank you for giving this listener the gift of Your Word. Create within them a hunger to remain in it each day. Open their understanding as they read, and allow Your Holy Spirit to transform the way they think through the truth of Scripture. Renew their mind as they yield their thoughts, their will, and their emotions to You. Lead them, Father, into the freedom that comes from knowing Christ more deeply and faithfully walking in His truth. And I pray this in the precious and perfect name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen. As today's teaching comes to a close, do not rush past what the Holy Spirit may be revealing. Return now to your journal. Write down the revelation you have received. What truth stood out? What challenged your thinking? Next, prayerfully consider opportunities to serve today. Ask God who He might place in your path. How can you encourage, help, listen to, strengthen, or simply be present for someone in need? Be specific. Journal who, when, and how you plan to serve. And finally, as your day comes to an end this evening, return once more to your journal and invite the indwelling Holy Spirit to debrief about your day. Where was obedience strong? Where might repentance be needed? Are there persons to whom you owe an amends? End this day where it began, fully yielded to the indwelling mind of Christ, and I'll meet you again tomorrow on this fifty-day journey of reflection and renewal. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. In Jesus' name, amen.
