Kyjuan is a hip hop legend who is 1/6th of the legendary group 'The St. Lunatics", the big brother of the groups 2nd hottest member Murphy Lee and is the Co-founder of "Smokes & Jokes" a 420 friendly comedy show with a Def Comedy Jam like presence along with his brother. He has a music career that spans two decades from being on the mic himself to recording, producing, directing music videos, to making the clothes he and his group members wear during performances. He has a vast knowledge of the entertainment industry and is getting ready for a 25th Anniversery St. Lunatics album. When it comes to like your musical career, right? And like I said, it's hella, yeah. I was sexy, y'all. Why is it that you didn't really have too much like music of your own? Most of the stuff I heard you on was all tick stuff or ticks adjacent. You know what I'm saying? But before we got on camera, you were saying that you uh, you know what I'm saying, you directed videos and all that. Why is it you didn't get your credit for none of that type of stuff? Um well, first off, the music part. Okay. Music part's by respect. So I never really sat down and really 24-7 music. Okay, making the music. Right. When I do my music, I'm telling you what I went through, telling you what I'm gonna do, tell you what I seen, and I keep it moving. Right. I'm more of a person in the group that was saying, what we gonna do with it after you say what you say. How we gonna sell the dope? All work sales. How you gonna look? How you gonna see what I'm saying? Yeah. So it's really not and it don't have to be directly to that. It can be just me making clothes and I made three of them and put Murphy one and Sloan in one, and now I create, you know what I'm saying? Right. It was just that easy, but that's really what happens, right? All right now all five of us got it. Now it's whoever's they say it is, and I don't care. I care about equal signs. So as long as we all looking good, cool. You know what I'm saying? Now I've learned different uh ways to get your paper for doing what I do. Right. You know what I'm saying? Or to be you have to be more in front and say, hey, raise your hand. That's what you see me is about because you ain't always seen. So instead of raising your hand, I let clothes speak for themselves. You know what I'm saying? You spend five hours getting dressed. You really want to say, look at my outfit. 100%. You just don't because it sounds kind of weird, but that's what you see me is. So that's you can't make excuses. For real. You know what I mean? So um musically, I like I like I ain't really I care about my brother's career more than mine. I care about Murphy Lee more than anything. So I turn into management quick. Right. Consultant, whatever. The big brother, I'm the big brother and the little brother. If he knows something more than me, I'm the little brother. That's how we play odds. You know what I'm saying? I'm gonna be real. That's hype first things first, off top, that's hella humble with people. Cause there's mugs out here who just like it's gotta be me. I gotta get the spotlight, I gotta get the shine, man. So why you know why too though? Why is that? Part of it because they don't know what's gonna happen if they don't. That means trust issues is low. So whatever happens, I know what Murph is doing it for, and I know how he's gonna use it when he gets there. You feel what I'm saying? Yeah. So that's why it's easy for me to push that issue, and he'll listen to me in a different way than anybody else would. You know what I'm saying? Right. So that's where I'm at with mine. I know what he's gonna do with it. I know if he gonna get that, he might give me some. If he don't, I'm still not mad. But I know him. He ain't gonna play it like that. He'll give me more, he'll give me more. Mervyn just sent me money right now. He did a verse of somebody and just sent me money. I'm like, what's this for? Oh, I did a verse of somebody over there in Kentucky. Like, what they gotta do with me? You feel me? They ain't got nothing to do with me. Yeah, that's love though. Right? But that's the type of swag he owns, so I be um, so I'm gonna push for that regardless. And he's cold. So I mean, that's the real point. He cold and need to be heard. So I'm a person that wants people to be heard and seen. I just like that feel better than me. I'm a Magic Johnson type of guy. I'm a I assist Yeah, my assist mean more than my point. You feel what I'm saying? Because resources is resources. I'd rather have a million friends, a million loyal friends, than have 20 million dollars. Because you can ask each one of them loyal million friends for $50, and now you got $50 million. And you got somebody got backup, and you got somebody who owns a store, you got somebody who runs a park, you got somebody who got a truck you need, a house you need, a facility you need, whatever it is. Resources is more than money. That's a deep. Uh money even come and go. Resources don't. So, in other words, credibility is the same thing. You need that credit, credibility, all that shit is mean that. You gotta stand on that. Your credibility means everything. You know what I'm saying? Just the fact that I walked up here and seen you with him. Yeah, that meant something to me. Just because your type of style of who you might want to get, or who you're talking to, or what intellect you are, whatever it is. You feel what I'm saying? Right. That just meant something. So I'm gonna be able to rap. I may not have the same cadences as Eminem or Nelly or Murph. I may not have the same, but everything I say, I meant that shit. I know I can tell you. I meant it. So that's really what it is. I'm gonna come from a different angle because I'm actually gonna stop by Fairground Park. I'm actually gonna go over there and talk to Arch Rivals. I'm actually gonna actually go, you know what I'm saying, to St. Charles. I'm actually gonna go to Black and White Ball, and I'm going to Spruce, and I'm going to to the comedy club, and I'm going to the reggae club. I'm I'm doing all that, so I'm going to give you information that you relate to. Right. You know what I'm saying? Because I ain't standing on the couch popping bottles for real. That's some dedication for you. Before they even had vegan restaurants for free. Yeah, I'm like, yeah, that's before vegan was popular, cool, any of that. So they made impossible anything. There's a lot of people in the industry that's vegan because we introduced it to them though. To this day. You know what I'm saying? Like, I mean, we ain't pillow talking and all that shit, but it's just when you be around and you see something happen that you've never seen happen, people gonna try it out. See what's going on. I'm right, I made a vegan sloppy joe at uh in Atlanta, Jazzy Facedop eating meat for about a year. And his partner Zach, he got a vegan spot now. Jamaine Depree don't eat meat. We done had vegan Thanksgiving together. You know what I'm saying? Like he got a vegan ice cream out right now. You know what I'm saying? So it's just it's just a way of life right now. You know, I teach I teach ghetto veganism. Yeah, yeah, I was about to get on that, but I ain't really gonna teach you about the asparagus side. I'm gonna teach you about a vegan pork or you know what I mean? Like another way to eat what you already ate. It's hard to change all that. Yeah, I was gonna touch on that because I actually had uh my partner Tommy Dangerfield down here and he uh did an interview with you talking about uh about like veganism and all that. He said he was gonna go vegan because his conversation with you. So I just wonder like me personally, I I'm I tried being vegan when I was actively fighting. I was a vegan. Uh when I was doing weight cuts and all that, but as soon as that was over with, I was. That's how you let people know you can fight. Come on, key one. I'm just asking. You know when I was walterweight, you know, when I was 32 and old. No, there's not no that's I'm just saying, okay, but you gotta know this though. You gotta know this. Right. Like I've been going to the studio lately a lot, because Lunatic album shit. So I've been going, like sparring. Like you said, working out sparring. Gotta be ready. And to be down here actually interviewing the person who delivered that verse. And that was poetry for real. I got that from I was writing poetry a lot. Okay. So even the young lady that's before me, we kind of was bouncing off of that with the poetry side on her side. You know what I'm saying? Just the inspiration. Like she cold. She write that shit. He wrote that shit. I wrote my poetry, but I just said mine. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. I lead no I was doing a lot of poetry at that time. So we just like say that. Yeah, man. And um, my sister, Black, uh, we was talking more about certain things because we I used to always shoot her my ideas. Right. And she'll give me good feedback, right? That's what we did. She'd shoot me her ideas, we get feedback. She was living in Houston. So I don't know. The energy just said, like, y'all wanna do it, like her and Murphy, like, y'all wanna do this with me?
