Where you're raised, that is technically where you're from, but as I asked that question, a lot of people. I learned that everybody is a little bit from everywhere. I'm from the north side, but I lived on the south side. I lived in North County, obviously. So, but most of my life was on the north side. So that's that. So, Morgan, bro. My question, I got this question for you, right? I've known you for a minute. I've only been aware of you since Morgan's been doing this. We go back to Mr. Weiss class, advisement and McClure North. Right? Yeah. What, I'm gonna just start off top with it. What made you start doing? What motivated you to start, you know, doing what it is you're currently doing?

Um, I would say, so I grew up in the industry. My mom, growing up, I would my mom was uh a singer, actress, touring the country, um, overseas, all of that. So that's why I moved to the county to live with my grandparents while my mom was on tour.

And so being able to be behind the scenes my entire life of watching my mom, it was just something, I guess, that was just in me. Um, I don't know what made me want to do my first event, but it was 2013 speed dating event that I did in my dad's uh bar at the time and it sold out, and it's been up since then.

Okay. I only asked that because like I don't usually I usually know about the people that I'm talking to, but I don't really be, I don't really have a all the way back from high school relationships.

Yeah, I was doing bubble head tours. I had I was a scammer. I started being a scammer uh since the age. Like now that I think about it, yeah. I had cemetery tours, I was doing that, pretending to see shit as I'm driving my car through the cemetery with the people. Y'all were paying for the shit. Like, um, yeah.

I was clearly oblivious because I know I worked at St. Louis Happy Hour all of high school. When they first opened. Yeah, that's actually crazy.

I worked at St. Louis when they first opened. When they first opened, um, most nook and tells salute to uh them at St. Louis Happy Hour. Uh my partner Todd, Ty Jenkins, he was working there.

I didn't know that. Well, exclusive. I wasn't aware of that, but I knew y'all talked, but I didn't know he was your boyfriend. Whatever. We whatever, we're gonna keep pushing. Anywho, Todd, his pops got him the job up there because he knew the niggas that owned it. But when his grades got bad, his pops made him quit. Todd is like, that's my partner. We was on the bus one day, and that nigga told me, like, yeah, man, my daddy made me quit. I got off the bus and walked straight up there. Like, hey, I heard y'all got an opening up there. And I was there cooking, I was washing dishes, I was cooking. Shit, I did damn near everything but bought in. So, yeah, I worked there literally sophomore year through senior year. So I knew nothing about, you know what I'm saying, you scamming people to see the bubble heads.

It's cool. But I'm thinking, like, I actually I like this podcast already because it's making me like think back. Uh, and I was even younger, probably in like grade school, when I was living with my grandparents, my grandma had like real casino slot machines in the basement.

And I was doing parties then too. And yeah, and then I remember building a haunted house in her basement, neighborhood kids paying to go through there. I've been a hustler, I guess.

The bubble head tools and all this, because I know people believe that. Hold up, for context. Audience that doesn't know this, that's not from St. Louis. Correct me on anything I'm wrong about. The bubbleheads is a story that was told when we were kids. I was from the north side and I heard this, that they was this group of Hillbilly family who got experimented on who heads was hella big and lumpy and all that, that stayed out there behind Jamestown Ma. And it was a road that you drive down that has no lights on it, no nothing. And it's like if you drive, and people were saying if you people went out there at nighttime and was getting kidnapped and killed and all this other stuff, and people was literally afraid to drive down this road. Did I mess any of that up?

All right, cool. I tell that story because that was one of the few stories I bought into. I didn't believe nobody was back there for real, but I wasn't finna drive down that motherfucking road either.

It was had to be like 8, 9:30, something like that. Dark as hell. Man, I turned and you could just see the lights down it, and even it was so dark. I'm like, y'all trying to go. It got quiet as hell in that car, boy. I bucked that UI so fast.

Anywho, man, moving on. So you went from scamming to bubble head tours, movies and cemeteries. I'm trying to think. The first event of yours that I went to was the Rise Open Mic.

I had just got back to St. Louis from the military in 2013. And me, I'm nostalgic like this. I anybody I went to school with, I don't care, elementary, middle, high school, don't matter. I love seeing my old classmates doing well, you know what I'm saying? Especially in a city like St. Louis. So uh I got back and I ain't had nothing to do one night, and I was just like, what's there to do? I don't forget who told me, but they was like, shit, Morgan be throwing an event. Uh it was called, well, it was called the boom boom room when you was there, but it was used to be called Lola's. And I was like, I bet I'm gonna go up there. And that was the first event I got into. How did you go from that? Like, where did you get your idea? Where do you get your ideas? That's what I'm basically asking. Where do you get your ideas for the event station decided to throw?

That particular event was something me and my mom started doing together.

Yeah, um, and I'm not sure how if she came up with it or or if I did, but that was just a cool moment to be able to see how much talent was in St. Louis.

Um, and it brings everybody together from comedians to poets to singers, you know, everybody on one stage. Um, but as far as like my events now, that I get a lot of inspiration from out of town. I love looking at LA, New York, Houston, and seeing what they have going on, bringing it here and making it different. Um, but then sometimes God will just give me an idea in the middle of the night. Like it'll be something super random, or I'll just be on the couch chilling and just randomly blurt something out. Most times a friend is over at my house, whether it's Roe or Stacy or somewhere like that, and I'll call Vanessa and get be like, hey, what you think of this? And if they give me a green light, I just take off. I don't have no time to wait. Every time that I've thought of something and I've waited till the time was right, I lost that idea, meaning that God gave it to somebody else.

And I see them roll out the exact same thing, and I'll be like, damn, why didn't I do it? You know? And so yeah. So that's why I move so quick. I think I've learned my lesson of just like, I don't have time to waste.

Yeah, the show key. But yeah. So, Ro, when do you become I bring up the rise and all that because I don't I'm I don't remember seeing you back then. Granted, I used to come up there with my partners and I say what's up to Morgan. She had me play part-time security sometimes when people was like too loud while people was talking and all that. But when did you become a part of the whole team?

So at first I I I used to be a sheriff, um, and I did security for Adult Easter egg hunt. The Easter Egg hunt. You want me to go back?

Um for the adult Easter egg hunt. Right. Then um I ended up meeting an artist, ended up being her security, and then uh she got signed to Republic. We went and moved to Atlanta, did some stuff, and then we would bring Morgan on sometime to do content and just she, as my friend, just to enjoy the life. Like we was going to Rolling Louds, Alaska, we a little bit everywhere.

And then it just shit, every day it just was like, well, what we doing today? Or how can we? And then one day, shit, we prayed to God about something and it just took off. Now we now we're here with you, Wayne.

I I want to make sure that the the people here in January, like so we have been doing all this stuff, doing cool stuff, successful things, whatever. But um once you when you're producing your own events and things like that, if you experience a couple of L's, they can wipe you out.

Um it was January 2026, and we did we literally was sitting in the parking lot of Waterway over there by the galleria. Yeah. And this it prayed to God, and I think that was when we took the like the last little bulk of money that I had just sitting, and I was trying to decide if I was gonna invest it in in a certain tool that need needed for these events and things like that. We decided to do that, and we literally prayed to God together. And when she says it's been up, it it's it's been nothing but.

Uh, I I think it's um industry. Like I've been, like I said, the artist was signed to Republic, so I've been in different rooms. I've been at BT, I've been at Paramount, I've been in VH1. Um So I think it's just a w I wouldn't even say more. I don't know. It's just different, I guess.

So how did you get your start into, you know, into that world?

Being a good person. No, I started as like I said, I started as her security and it just being down, being there, being a team player, and just learn I've never been a manager of a a rapper, you know. So I feel like I can do anything I put my mind to. Um, so I just learned as I went.

You got I think I think it's one of those things where you have people that go to school for things and they're trained for it and all of that. But you have some people that truly just want a good person around them.

It was crazy. I was there as a guest. We we knew each other because my best friend is her god brother, so we've known each other for a long time. Right. Um, but as far as us getting close, it was the second prom actually, but I was I attended the first prom.

Yeah, she called me up, her and her uh uh artist at that time.

That was my first event. That was when um I learned that sometimes something blowing up without the correct PR. That's when I I learned PR, I think, a little bit.

Um, because you really had to try to get ahead of the commentary and things like that, or put out a statement. I had to learn early on like what that looks like and why it's important to do. What it was is that um I've never been a type of person who cared about what other people had on or how much money they look like they had and things like that. So when I got the pictures back from the event, uh I posted the pictures.

And uh I remember I remember around that time, I remember them comments. I was like, boy, yeah.

It was sad, actually.

Yeah, it was sad, and I think um what it what it was for the audience, if y'all don't know, a lot of people made fun of what people were wearing, how their hair looked, or how they were dressed, and things like that. Um sometimes those memories pop up, and I'm noticing like some of my closest friends to this day were one of some of the ones that was dragging the event and the and the people at the the event or whatever, but that's a whole nother therapy session. Um what they didn't know is that I had gave out so many tickets to people that actually were less fortunate and had never attended Prime.

Yeah, I know that, yeah, I remember that was your premise for it.

Yeah, and so a lot of the people that they were dragging were those people that there was one lady that they dragged the most who was homeless at the time with her kids and and our guy, and I were living like I think hotel to hotel or shelters or something like that. And um, that defeated me in a space of like, I never want to do this event event again. Um, as viral as it went, as much money as it made, as successful as if you were there, the event was, um it just wasn't worth it to me. But when she called me in 20, what? 2020? Nah, that was the pandemic. So it was before that.

18 or 19, 2018 or 19, and asked, would I do it? For whatever reason, I said yes, and that that one was amazing.

I felt like a I felt like a celebrity that night. As you should.

That's when we really clicked. Like at the beginning of some degree.

But I think that's probably I don't know, but I think that might have even been where you were able to see why I do what I do and how I do it, what I do. If I truly believe in someone else, or if I truly um admire someone, then I'm a I go above and beyond. That event was not something that I was gonna profit off of for real. Like the those types of events, the expenses are so high. If you don't have sponsorship for it, you're not gonna make money. That's just how it is. But if it was a chance to like shine the light on somebody else, and at the time that artist didn't go to she didn't have a prom or something like that. Some in my mind, I'm like, okay, yeah, let's just do it. Um and now that I think about like even some of our clients, we're still doing the same thing of just truly making things happen, not because of the reward we get, but just because we want we want people to win. Everybody. We want everybody to win.

So as a team, as a collective, uh Speed Day and Joint was your first one. Your first major viral one that got you on the map was the adult prime. And you're damn 13, we had 26, you 13 years in the game. Yeah. Man, what is your overall most successful event? If you want to break it down even further, pre-row and post-row.

I'm gonna have to say the most successful would have to be the Easter egg hunt still, to this day. Because that event, I'm nine years in, would have been 10 if we didn't have the pandemic. But nine years in, it's been successful every single year. Made front page of Wall Street Journal. Um, the profit is is always good. Um that would be my most successful because of how long it's been running.

Now, as far as newer success, it would definitely have to be all of the events I've been doing with uh Marvin Mitchell. Um, Marvin Mitchell, he's a financial advisor. He owns a company called Wealth Creators and all these different things, retirement solutions. And he was somebody that would watch from afar, and I would just look and be like, he's dope. Like he's got it. He's from St. Louis, but he's beyond St. Louis. And I shot my shot on Facebook uh two years ago, and was just like, I would love the opportunity one day to to work with Marvin Mitchell. I won't say he called me either that that day or the next day.

Okay, and then we got on a um on the call or something. And um he's like, Well, look, my birthday party my birthday's coming up in two weeks. Um, you think you could play in that? And we're not talking about a regular birthday party. This man, we had Kiki Wyatt, uh Mantel Jordan. Like, yeah, and you're talking two weeks, and I don't know what he got from that one time we did that, but every time Marvin calls me, it's it's pressure. Is he finna challenge us?

It's always last minute. It's always the most recent thing is uh we had his cousin a birthday party, and and we of course want to do balloons because it's a birthday party. Right. So the week of that Tuesday, I tell him, hey, the balloon vendor is gonna come the night before, which is Fri, she's gonna come Friday at such and such time. Is that okay? Because it was at his house. Right. He said, yeah, that's fine. That what that Thursday?

That Thursday, he called and said, Oh, I don't know if you know, but my mama allergic to latex.

And so I always knew I wanted to eventually be in other cities, but never really had the courage to do it. Um, when I decided, like, hey, I'm gonna do it, it's becoming a popular thing now where event producers are taking their events in other cities. The thing is, I didn't try, no, I actually tried to jump out there two years ago and randomly do an event in Houston. I sold, I think, 14 tickets. And I was like, oh yeah, I gotta cancel this.

And first event out of town sold out.
