Brenda's Review of Evil Dead Burn 2026 *Spoilers*

Good morning, this is Brendan. I'm back with another movie review. I know I usually try to stick to the older movies and I will get back to that, but being such a huge Evil Dead fan, I had to go see Evil Dead Burn yesterday, so that is gonna be my review today. But first off, I want to set the record straight on something. When I say fuck you to an actor, I'm actually giving the character that they play in a certain movie the good fuck you. Specifically, the one that was brought to my attention was when I said fuck you to John Travolta, and it wasn't John Travolta. I love the work that he does. Everything from Vinnie Barberino to playing Edna Turnblatt in Hairspray, it was fuck you to Billy Nolan in the movie Carrie. I know I've said fuck you to Ryan Reynolds before, and that was his character of George Lutz, and I'll tell you what, if George Lutz looked like Ryan Reynolds and I was married to that man and he was coming at me with an axe, we would just have to throw down. If I've already taken it too far and I get served, what do you call it, an injunction or a restraining order from Ryan Reynolds? That means I would have in my little hand a legal document with his name on it and my name on it. So with the right amount of whiteout, I'm sure I could turn that into a marriage license. Now with that being said, let's get on with it with Evil Dead Burn. That was one of the best movies I had seen in a long time. I was entertained from beginning to end. The only bad reviews I read before going into the movie were people said there wasn't enough character build. I didn't find that to be the case. As always, there will be some spoilers coming ahead. There are a couple of familiar faces in this movie that I couldn't quite put my finger on, so I did have to look them up. We have Hunter Dewin, who plays Tyler in Wednesday, and Lucianne Buchanan, I knew her from Sweet Tooth, she plays Louisa, and also from the movie Pearl, we have Tandy Wright, who played Ruth. I actually thought this movie was going to be a bit of a challenge for me. It was the first time I ever went to the movie theater completely by myself. I lost my husband in 2016, and this is just one of those things that I was determined to do. And don't you know at the very beginning, a woman loses her husband in a car accident. I was thinking, damn it, this is just what I need. But we learned that he's abusive, so good. No big loss. But that accident does set up the premise for that abusive fucks widow to be spending time with the in-laws. And if you are an Evil Dead fan, you know it only takes one dead eye to ruin a whole evening. The one we get to see first is Jessica that was in the Evil Dead Rise movie. I wouldn't say that you have to watch Evil Dead Rise to get anything out of this one. This could be a standalone movie, but it does pick up where the other one left off. There are some really neat camera shots in this one, so I would recommend seeing it on the big screen. If you're not really into horror, I would even say this one kind of plays out somewhat of an action movie. This is definitely a really bloody movie, but for some reason Spit grosses me out worse than blood. So we have a Deadeye taking out the grandmother's denture, sticking it in her own mouth, letting it root around in there a little bit, then taking it out and sticking it right back in Granny's mouth. And for me, that's the most disgusting scene in the entire movie. We also see a nasty, slurpy, bloody, spitty kiss. It's still the dentures that get me. I know there's a lot of people out there that say they don't get along with their in-laws, but damn. I think this family had a lot of problems before this day. Let's go ahead and run down my list. This movie is about as evil as it gets. It's what we expect from one of the Evil Dead movies, that good old demonic possession. Two wine glasses. I thought I was gonna have more empathy for the widow, but she lucked out getting rid of that husband. I'm sorry her day went to shit. But if things had gone differently, she would have probably been better off. My empathy lies, yes, there's a dog. The dog was one of the first ones to get it, but then it turns, so the dog has to go. One wine glass. On the eerie scale, this is not a slow burn, but we do have some levitation and people crawling around on the ceiling. One wine glass. I love the environment of this movie. It's primarily in an old farmhouse and it is snowing outside, so I've got to give that a wine glass. And as far as being entertaining, that is a yes, yes, yes, and a yes. So I'm gonna give that two wine glasses. Somehow I just got seven wine glasses on a five-glass scale. But it's worth every one of them. I would even call this movie fun. If you're a horror movie lover, you know exactly what I'm talking about. It is just non-stop from beginning to end. Oh, the end. And you have to go see this in the theater. Be sure and sit until the end of the credits. There is a mid-credit scene with grandma that you don't want to miss, and one that I didn't expect at the end of the credits, there's another scene and we get to see Ellie from Evil Dead Rise.
