Welcome to the Crank It Up Sports Card Podcast with the shop manager Parker and the co-host Matthew.

SPEAKER_02

Hello, Matthew.

SPEAKER_00

Hello, Mr. Johnson.

SPEAKER_02

Hello to uh like the four people that watch this. Thank you for watching. Um we got a lot to talk about.

SPEAKER_00

We got a lot to talk about. Uh there is a PSA boycott.

SPEAKER_02

I have heard about that.

SPEAKER_00

And I I want to get your opinion. Uh do you think the boycott of PSA is going to work?

SPEAKER_02

Boycotts work. They do. They they work. Uh there's been a lot of boycotts to happen in the history, in the history of boycotting, um, which I'm well versed in. Um and they do work. But the thing is, is that they don't work if not everybody's doing it. So is enough people gonna do it? I don't know. I kind of think that uh PSA is king in the hobby. Everybody loves PSA. Absolutely. Um I think it's gonna be hard to get enough people on board uh if if enough hobby shops are or or just customers in general are gonna are gonna really do that. I mean, if you I mean if you're in it to flip cards and you've got good cards and you want to get the most out of them, PSA 10. That's the best grading company right now as far as value, that's the best resale. I mean, PSA 10s are are king.

SPEAKER_00

Well, let's go over some of the issues that uh people have been having with PSA and uh what led to the boycott. Yeah. Or perceivably. Uh the wait times number one.

SPEAKER_03

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Uh wait times are long time. Very long right now. Yep. And uh if you're sending it in bulk, then how long are you expecting to get back bulk?

SPEAKER_02

I mean, we've had stuff off for six months and it's not back. You you can if you are excited, whatever your favorite sport is, even baseball, with how long of a season baseball is, if you're excited to send off your favorite sports player, whatever, at the beginning of the season, the season's over when it comes back. I mean, it is bad right now. Like it is taking a long time, and it's thirty bucks a card. And that is that's that's for six six plus months. And then I mean, if you want to get it back sooner, you got to spend an arm and a leg per card. It's a lot.

SPEAKER_00

And I only have so many arms and legs.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I I don't think you can give up that many arms and legs.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I guess uh if you're being strategic with that, I guess the best time to send off cards would be at the end of the season.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Or yeah, I mean, it it really would be, but then it it just messes up like timing and stuff because I mean you used to you could see a player starting to get hot, right? And you or you could see a team that's heading in the direction of the uh you know, World Series and or Super Bowl, what uh what have you, you know? And and then you could send something off and then it would be back in time for that, and then it would be, I mean, have the a World Series bump in price, you know. Now you can't do that, not unless you're willing to spend a hundred plus dollars to get it back in hopefully a month, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Right. I think uh one issue that I I see right now is uh we have just started the baseball season, yeah, and a lot of people were high on like Roman Anthony. A lot of people wanted to uh send in Roman Anthony for uh grading uh to make more money on his cards. And uh he kind of started off really slow. Yep. And so uh it they're not getting them back for three, four months. His stuff is plummeted at the you know, so you might have intended to make money off of that in the long run, but uh I don't think it's gonna work in in that case. And you know, baseball is a very streaky sport, sometimes you can start off uh very slow, and and people definitely jump off very quickly.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, they do, yeah, very quickly. I mean, you could have if you sent off a card of Roman Anthony, let's say the value of the raw card when you sent it off could very well be higher than if you got that card back now and it's a PSA 10. That's that's what's kind of crazy, is like, man, best case scenario happened. You did get a 10 on a card, and it's still less than what the raw value was. Because Roman Anthony stuff is really tanked. I mean, it's it's gone down a ton. I mean, it it was probably too high to begin with. I mean, with the world baseball classic, he just had a He did have a good classic. He did, he did, but I think that being in the world baseball classic, uh, it was a spotlight on him, and so it was just kind of like he was probably overhyped, to be honest. Um, and then yeah, to to to get a card back and it gym and it's less than raw is it's kind of crazy.

SPEAKER_00

I think you can uh you can kind of say that about new products as well. When a new product comes out, if you're selling it raw, that's probably the best time to sell. I mean, if you hit a good card, probably the best time to sell that card is right away. Yeah. Uh some people think, well, should I grade this? Yeah. I think unless it's somebody like Shohei, Judge, I mean like the top three or four. Top couple guys, yeah. I think the best time to sell that when it releases is right away.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I I agree, because it's just no matter how good of a player you are, hype if if you're not a good player, hype can still drive your values up. Like if you got in the news for something crazy or something, those cards go up, you know? And and vice versa. If you're you could be having a phenomenal season, but very quietly, and your cards don't really go up much. It's really who's in the spotlight. It's almost like you got to be kind of like almost flashy and like in the news for your cards to have like really go up, you know.

SPEAKER_00

I agree with that. And and just to back that up, when when Tiger Woods uh got involved in his DUI offense, or alleged DUI offense, I guess I should say. Um Innocent until proven guilty. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Innocent until uh well, we'll we'll go on from there. His car prices actually went up.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, which is crazy.

SPEAKER_00

He didn't win a masters, he didn't win a tournament. He was just in the news.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I heard something interesting. Uh I want to get your take on it. I heard that a um a lion wouldn't get a DUI, but a tiger would. Um did you hear that?

SPEAKER_00

I've never heard that before.

SPEAKER_02

You didn't hear that one?

SPEAKER_00

I guess an another issue that has been brought up is upcharge for PSA. That's one of the big reasons for the boycott. How do you feel about upcharge on on uh PSA cards?

SPEAKER_02

They're doing the exact same job. Like it's gonna be encapsulated either way. To me, upcharges feel so scammy because like SGC doesn't upcharge bag like does any other grading company upcharge?

SPEAKER_00

Uh not that I'm aware of. Not that I don't know. I think SGC, like if you get to a certain point, uh it's gotta be high, though. Very high.

SPEAKER_02

I think it yeah. I mean, it's not like oh, five hundred dollars, then you gotta pay this much more, a thousand dollars, you gotta pay this much more. I mean, I don't know. I I I could be wrong or just unaware, but I don't know of any other major grading companies that do that, at least at such low levels, like five hundred bucks, a thousand dollars, things like that. It almost feels like I mean, wouldn't that is that not a conflict of interest? Like, wouldn't on a big card, wouldn't you want to give it a 10 just to get more money for grading it?

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Like, I feel like I feel like why not, right? I mean, that kind of takes the it out of the I mean it I it's gotta go into the equation a little bit. Like if I'm a c if I'm a company and I'm like I'm the one grading it, and I'm like, you know what, this is probably an eight, but we're gonna make a thousand more dollars if I give it a ten. I'll bump it up to a ten. Looks pretty good. It's good, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Imagine if you went down to uh the place that changes your rule down here, and they're like, we did a good job on that, so we're gonna charge you just a little bit more. Exactly. I know if we have a nice car, we're gonna we're it's in it's pristine condition. Yeah, it doesn't make sense. We're gonna charge you just a little bit more.

SPEAKER_02

It doesn't make sense. I mean, uh if we did that here at Cranks, like you and I.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, there would be upcharges everywhere. All the time.

SPEAKER_02

All the time.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, we'd be we'd we'd have an upcharge button.

SPEAKER_02

We'd yeah. I mean, it would be it would be it'd be like those annoying uh terminals that have like every single time like asking for a tip, you know? Yeah, it would just be but it would automatically just be uh oh, upcharge, we did a good job. Yeah. Like I felt like we did good, so let's just upcharge this.

SPEAKER_00

I mean a a pack of 1988 tops would would cost you quite a bit at Cranks.

SPEAKER_02

It would. It would.

SPEAKER_00

And uh we we don't um really name our segments or anything, but I'm gonna uh name this segment uh Do You Know Ball.

SPEAKER_02

Uh oh. This could be pretty telling.

SPEAKER_00

And it's about what we've been talking about. It's about grading. Okay. Okay. Um now this past month, April. Yep. Um numbers were kind of down for uh a few grading companies. Okay. Uh but I'm going to ask you um what the number one grading company was in It's still got to be PSA. It's it's PSA.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I don't think that uh quite frankly, with the boycott that's coming up, I still think PSA has such a large lead on other grading companies. I think during that month of when is the boycott supposed to happen?

SPEAKER_00

In May.

SPEAKER_02

In May. I think during May, PSA's probably still gonna be the most submitted to grading company, even with the boycott. I wouldn't be surprised.

SPEAKER_00

I I would think so. Would you want to guess how many cards they graded in the month of April?

SPEAKER_02

Oh my gosh. I have no idea. This is gonna be this is gonna be bad.

SPEAKER_00

I can tell you how many they didn't grade. Let's go look at our uh submissions.

SPEAKER_02

There's at least a thousand cards that they didn't grade with Craig's.

SPEAKER_00

And this isn't to to bash PSA. I think PSA is a good product. If you're wanting the best re resale on your card, you need to send it to PSA.

SPEAKER_02

They do have the best resale, 100%. I mean, they've done they wouldn't be a good company and good at marketing and all that type of stuff if they weren't king right now in the hobby. PSA 10s are king. So I I'm gonna just guess a wild guess. Okay. I have absolutely no idea if this is true. Um, it feels like it would be this much with how long our cards have been sitting out, not getting graded. So I just in my head, if it's less than this, I'm gonna be like, Dad Gummit, they need to grade our cards. Because I feel like it's gotta be three million cards. Not a bad guess.

SPEAKER_00

Not a bad guess. A little you're a little over. 2.21 million.

SPEAKER_02

I am okay with that guess. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I'm okay with that guess. Just, you know, pulling it out of thin air. That's that's a pretty good guess.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, thank you. Yeah, I would I didn't know which way it was gonna go.

SPEAKER_00

Would would you care to guess what the number two uh company was for the month of April?

SPEAKER_02

I would think I would think top three would probably be PSA, Beckett, SGC. But there's been a few other like grading companies really take off recently, but I I don't think, unless I'm out of the loop, that that that they have overtaken those three. Maybe SGC, but I still feel like it would be PSA and Beckett.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

What is it? Am I wrong?

SPEAKER_00

The number two is SGC. Is it? No, I'm sorry, CGC.

SPEAKER_02

CGC, wow. Yeah, wow.

SPEAKER_00

Now they do grade a lot of uh Pokemon one piece.

SPEAKER_02

I yep, I wasn't really thinking about that. They do. So and One Piece and Pokemon have exploded, so that that might be why then. Is Beckett three?

SPEAKER_00

Beckett is number three.

SPEAKER_02

And then SGC?

SPEAKER_00

SGC. Okay, wow. There's a top five. I have a top five, so one more?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. One that I've heard a lot about, this might be a terrible guess, but a lot of people have been talking about it, so it makes me kind of think maybe it's getting up there is tag. Tag.

SPEAKER_00

Tag number five.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, I got four for five then. Right? Man. Four for five?

SPEAKER_00

Manage a shopping.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe I should. I might branch out, get out of my comfort zone from podcasting.

SPEAKER_00

Well, the the number of grades uh by each company, CGC 690,000. Okay. That's that's pretty solid. That's solid. I would say probably most of that is is TCG stuff. Yeah. Beckett 97,000, quite a big drop off.

SPEAKER_02

That's a huge drop off. Wow. SGC must be. Okay, then I do have a bone to pick with SGC because I've had we've had cards like gone for almost three months that have not been graded with SGC.

SPEAKER_00

SGC graded 50,000 cards.

unknown

Oh my goodness.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we need our cards back, SGC. Give us our cards, please.

SPEAKER_00

Give us our cards back. We have had some stuff off there for for quite a while. Maybe they're cleaning shop there. Maybe they're they're making some improvements. Maybe. Maybe uh they're they're they're giving us all tins on every one of our cards.

SPEAKER_02

If that does happen, you'll be okay with it. Take as long as you need. I'm okay with it. Take as long as you need if you're going to give us all tins. And especially on that uh 1952 Mickey Mantle that we sent off.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Tag is very, very close to SGC in number of grades. Well, how much?

SPEAKER_02

And I think they I'm gonna guess 37,000.

SPEAKER_00

That's that's that's okay, guess. What is it? Uh 48,000. So just 2,000 less. They grade a lot of of TCG as well. Okay. So that's probably where they got their numbers. Yeah. Uh in April of 2026. Yep. What category? You have sports, you have TCG, you have uh well, baseball, basketball, football. What was the number one category graded?

SPEAKER_02

Has to be TCG. I would Pokemon TCG in general, but Pokemon and One Piece and all that stuff is exploding. And I don't I don't know that stuff personally. Uh, but our second shop off of Ali Highway, uh, Cranks Trading Gallery does do that stuff. And I know for them stuff is just like well over a hundred X in the past few months. I mean, it is like cards that were five bucks are now hundred dollar cards. It's just insane. So I would say Pokemon would probably be the most.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Pokemon was number one.

SPEAKER_02

F across all grading?

SPEAKER_00

Well, TCG. Okay. Yeah. Um, and would you care to guess number two?

SPEAKER_02

Is a one piece included in TCG? Yes, it is. Okay. So then I would be on a sports next.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

Uh well, baseball season's going on right now, so baseball.

SPEAKER_00

Very good guess. Okay. And that's correct.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. So that's two for two. How many am I guessing all the sports?

SPEAKER_00

Uh we'll do top uh top four.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. So I'm two for two right now. Batting a thousand.

SPEAKER_00

So you got uh TCG, baseball, what's next?

SPEAKER_02

Football and basketball would be next. This one's tricky. I think that this is what I'm thinking in my head. Basketball is going on right now, football's not. But football, a lot of nice product just came out for football, like the top scrome and stuff. So I almost and topped chrome was crazy for football. Yeah. I'm gonna say football.

SPEAKER_00

Football?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You're wrong. It's basketball.

SPEAKER_02

Basketball so for for is football then?

SPEAKER_00

Man. But by a lot. I I guess yeah, well, it's it's close. It's close, but uh yeah, that's a pretty good guess. Um basketball, I guess globally, is is really, really big.

SPEAKER_02

It is bigger globally, I guess. Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I batted 500 on that, I guess.

SPEAKER_00

That's not bad. You're you're above a Hall of Famer.

SPEAKER_02

I am I mean I I pr some would say a slim dunk Hall of Famer if I retired today.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Some um, I guess yourself would say. I I would I would. Yeah, okay. All right. Uh let's go on to we we mainly uh focus on sports uh cards. Yep. Uh so let's go to athletes. Okay. Who do you think the number one graded athlete in the month of April was?

SPEAKER_02

Not all time, just April. Just April. Should be. Is Michael Jordan all time?

SPEAKER_00

I guess he would be. I I'm not quite sure. I know the number one cart graded of all time is the 89 up predict. Griffey. King Griffey Jr.

SPEAKER_02

I feel like Jordan would probably be the most, like, not one singular card, but most graded player. Probably. I feel like it would be. If anybody knows that, let us know in the comments because I don't know that.

SPEAKER_00

Well, we're not here to talk about what you don't know. We're here to talk about what you do.

SPEAKER_02

People want to know what I know. People want to know what I know. Yeah. I mean, I've taught you everything you know, but have I taught you everything I know? I don't know if that's true either way. Um, but probably not. Okay. Uh I g I'm gonna guess Otani is the biggest athlete right now. That's pretty easy. Yeah, I feel like that's a slam dunk.

SPEAKER_00

Slam dunk.

SPEAKER_02

Or home runs. It's home runs. Probably home runs.

SPEAKER_00

It's Otani. We're not here to talk about what you don't know, what you do know. Right. Okay, who's number two?

SPEAKER_02

The thing in big stars, is it uh would it be Judge? It's not judge. Not judge. Flag.

SPEAKER_00

I'll just let you know there's not a baseball player. Other than other than Otani in the top.

SPEAKER_02

Flag? Cooper flag?

SPEAKER_00

Cooper flag.

SPEAKER_02

Cooper flag.

SPEAKER_00

It's that's you know, that's his first. Big rookie, yeah. Yeah, big rookie. And uh number three, no longer plays sports.

SPEAKER_02

Jordan then. Jordan.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. All right.

SPEAKER_02

His stuff, he's always in the top like five every month, I feel like. Everybody grades Jordan stuff.

SPEAKER_00

And in the month of April, this person didn't play any games in April. So not basketball, not baseball. It's football.

SPEAKER_02

Is it a rookie?

SPEAKER_00

They no. No. It's real really been hot this year.

SPEAKER_02

Uh Drake May?

SPEAKER_00

Drake May.

SPEAKER_02

Man, I'm surprised I got that actually.

SPEAKER_00

I I actually am surprised by that because everybody was high on him in February, uh, January, February. They were hot. Not many people asking for May right now.

SPEAKER_02

You know what it is? It's all the people that sent him off already.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And they waited for months. That's what it is. It's gotta be what it is.

SPEAKER_00

Shout out to Tyler. It's probably Tyler. He was sending all of his Drake May months ago, and they all just now probably got graded. They didn't lose this one.

SPEAKER_02

No, no, no.

SPEAKER_00

We we sent a card off for him that got lost momentarily.

SPEAKER_02

Yep. And it was it was funny, it was like the perfect storm because it was sent off during a storm.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

And UPS didn't deliver, it was supposed to be next day delivery, and it was gone for like a week, and then finally got to PSA, and then PSA lost it. And it was a week turnaround, and it took him almost two months to get back. I felt I felt bad for him.

SPEAKER_00

As a shop, that was that was very stressful because you know of course we didn't do anything wrong. It was other uh other companies that uh lost the card momentarily. Luckily it was all found. Yep. Uh, but what do you do? I mean, you only thing we can do is stress about it and try to console the the person that uh sent it off. Yep, yeah. And the last one, number five.

unknown

Oh, there's another one, Dad.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but yeah, there's five people in the top five.

SPEAKER_02

What am I what am I batting right now? Do I get three for four so far?

SPEAKER_00

I think so.

SPEAKER_02

And do I get a hint on what sport?

SPEAKER_00

He's currently playing right now. So two sports.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna say basketball.

SPEAKER_00

Basketball.

SPEAKER_02

Am I right?

SPEAKER_00

You are right about basketball.

SPEAKER_02

This is tough. I I wanna I have two guesses.

SPEAKER_00

I'm glad you're not asking me these questions.

SPEAKER_02

I know me too. I've got two guesses.

SPEAKER_00

You got two guesses.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Not locking either one of them in. I'm gonna fill you out while I say this because I want to see I want to see your reaction, okay? I'm gonna guess another big rookie con. And then my other guess would be Wimby.

SPEAKER_00

One of those is correct. Oh man. Do you want to lock in your final answer?

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna say, because Wimby's in the he's in the playoffs right now. Oh yeah. I just give it away.

SPEAKER_00

I give it away.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah, you did give it away. I wasn't even thinking of that though.

SPEAKER_00

I know that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. So it's Wimby? It's Wimby. Well, there you go. Yeah. There you go. That's uh that's pretty good for for good.

SPEAKER_00

Shop manager knowledge.

SPEAKER_02

Got it up here.

SPEAKER_00

Well, that's I guess enough about grading. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Um you want to go into the game segment? Sure.

SPEAKER_00

We have a game segment.

SPEAKER_03

Wavelength?

SPEAKER_00

Let's do wavelength.

SPEAKER_02

You want to do wavelength?

SPEAKER_00

Let's do wavelength.

SPEAKER_02

It's a fan favorite. Like the three people that saw the first one loved it. Um Okay, do you want to do wavelength? We'll just do one. I'll just You can go where I can go. It doesn't matter. We'll just do one.

SPEAKER_00

You you can go.

SPEAKER_02

You want me to? Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Meaning I'm You ask me. I'm asking the question.

SPEAKER_02

I'm asking you the questions. And then you're gonna give me so you're gonna pick. How do we play this?

SPEAKER_00

Okay, I have a number. I have a number and you ask questions.

SPEAKER_02

And I ask questions.

SPEAKER_00

And then you give me You guess the number. Number one through two.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna guess You hadn't even asked. I'm gonna ask a question. I'm trying to think of a good question. Who so far in the MLB, player-wise, would you just season so far? Not what you think they're gonna do the season, not what they've done for their career, just in the short time that we've had the season going for so for the like the first month.

SPEAKER_00

Bryce Harper.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Phillies have not done very well, but I don't think Harper has been bad. I think that he's doing I think he's doing okay. I think he's doing alright. He's doing okay. I think he's doing alright. Playoff team for basketball.

SPEAKER_00

Playoff team for basketball. Yeah. That's tough to equate. Uh Spurs.

SPEAKER_02

Spurs, okay. Uh there's Bob right there. Shout out chat town. Um I love that guy.

SPEAKER_00

He's probably one of my favorite customers.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, he's my favorite. Okay. Um I would say, ooh, the topp's product that has released this year. There's been a lot of banger releases this year, so I don't know how you're gonna do this if it's a low number.

SPEAKER_00

If it's bad, then that'd be difficult. Yeah. Okay. Based on, okay. Topscrone black. And I'll explain it when, you know, you guess or don't guess.

SPEAKER_02

Topscrome black is tricky because I love the way Top Scrum Black looks, but you only get one autograph in it. For like $400 a box, which is a lot. So price, price point, I don't think it's good. That's a tough, that's tough to get one autograph. But product-wise, I love it. So do I go off of how I like the product, or do I go off of the price point? So based on what you've told me, I think I'm gonna go off the price point. Because I don't know, I don't think Harper's having the best season ever. Phillies haven't been amazing. But I don't think I don't think you're uh I don't think I feel like I feel I'm feeling like five to seven range, and that means I'm gonna go six. Six. What was it? Five. Oh my gosh, off by one. I've been off by one a lot in these games.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I think that was still a good guess. Uh I think let me explain Topscrum Black. I do like Topscrum Black.

SPEAKER_02

I think it's like one of the best looking products.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Uh black's one of my favorite colors, or it is my favorite color. And aesthetically, I think Topscrum Black is phenomenal. And some of the uh the case hits in there are nice. The Damascus depth of darkness. Depth of darkness looks really, really good. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And they they put the uh home field advantage cards in there this year. Yeah that was interesting.

SPEAKER_00

They must be tough to hit. I have not seen one yet.

SPEAKER_02

I haven't seen one either. They've got some they've got the product that looks great, but it is it is tough to spend over $400 and get one auto. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yesterday uh in shop, I've seen quite a few open. Yeah. Uh we we got another um uh round of it in the shop, and it we sold out probably within the first couple of days.

SPEAKER_02

We sold out quick. It's a great product, it looks so good. It looks so good. I've got two questions to ask you. Okay. Um first I don't know if anybody has seen this sitting back here. But this card. It's an interesting topic. Okay. Can you see this on the camera? I can see it right here. Um Shoheotani. Definitive. Yeah, definitive. Patch auto, right? Yes. It's a picture of that card, right?

SPEAKER_00

It's the for those listening on on just uh a podcast version, not video.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

It's the Through the Years insert that they did.

SPEAKER_02

Through the years insert.

SPEAKER_00

And it's the picture of the D definitive uh Shoheiotani.

SPEAKER_02

And it is a $150 card.

SPEAKER_00

A hundred and fifty dollar card.

SPEAKER_02

For a picture of a card. Yeah. What do we think about that? Is that insane? I feel like we're at a point where that's insane.

SPEAKER_00

I think that maybe we should go take pictures of more uh Shoheiotani cards.

SPEAKER_02

If I take a picture of this card that's a picture of a card, and I print that off, do you think I could resell it?

SPEAKER_00

Uh probably probably not. Topps would probably have something against that. But I could take a picture of you taking a picture of the card, and people really I mean, it's been in high demand. I've been ask having people ask me.

SPEAKER_02

I almost feel like that Otani manager pictures. I almost feel like that Otani would bring the value down uh in that picture.

SPEAKER_00

The shop manager card.

SPEAKER_02

In the shop manager card. Like it it's kind of like having, you know, it's kind of like having I would equate it to having like Luis Roberts sign like a dual auto with Shohei Otani. Like that's gonna bring that Otani autograph down, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's a card to be, you know, the name of the card would probably be one of these things is not quite like the other.

SPEAKER_02

Exactly. And that's how I would feel if Otani was on a card with me. I just feel like the value would probably be down.

SPEAKER_00

So why do you think the value of this particular card is up? Do you think it's you know it's a picture of a pitch uh picture of a card?

SPEAKER_02

I don't know, and it's it's not a parallel. They probably it's a out of a is that out of series one, series two, or something like that? I can't even remember. I can't remember either. It's out of the colour, it's out of a base flagship product. It's not numbered, it's not a parallel. It should have been printed pretty much just as much as some of the others. Uh I don't know why. It to me it's it's crazy. It's it's literally a picture of a card. Um I don't know. I I think that I mean it's a cool looking card, but it's a cool looking card of a cool looking card. So like I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

There's been enough of those sold on eBay that people know that it's not the definitive card. Exactly. They know that it's a picture of the definitive card. It's not a patch, it's not an auto, uh, but it is a picture. Yep. So just like I I guess it's weird that the all aces Otani all of a sudden has gone up. It's that's you know, maybe it's just because it's Otani.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and this stuff's crazy. Um, last couple things I wanted to talk about is what we got going on in shop.

SPEAKER_00

We got a lot of things.

SPEAKER_02

A few releases coming up that I wanted to talk about.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Uh series, or no, let's see, Top's Finest Football.

SPEAKER_00

Oh man, that's gonna be huge.

SPEAKER_02

I am excited. Top's finest is one of my favorite products for baseball. I've loved it. And now this year that it's gonna be licensed for football, I think that's gonna be huge. I mean, I am really, really looking forward for Top's Finest Football.

SPEAKER_00

That hits soon. Very soon.

SPEAKER_02

Very soon. Uh, you get, I think, two autos per box. So it's a good, you get some nice autos, you get uh a lot of color in those finest boxes, uh, a lot of numbered cards, a lot of parallels. And I like the tiers, uh, the common, uncommon, and rare. I think that's really cool. Oil spills. Yeah, the oil spills look great. I I there the case hit, I know we talked about case hits already. Um, but Tobbs is doing really good. I think they've stepped up their case hit game uh as of late. I didn't care a couple years ago too much for some of the case hits. Uh I thought Panini had was you know really good in that market with their kabooms and their downtowns, but recently, man, Fanatics is doing a good job with the case hits.

SPEAKER_00

Fanatics has been uh phenomenal. Yes. And uh a lot of people have kind of picked up on them over the years that they didn't have uh a good case hit. What is the case hit? Is that a case hit? Uh I think they've been tremendous lately. Yep. Uh the artwork, I believe, has improved.

SPEAKER_02

A hundred percent.

SPEAKER_00

Now there was one speaking of finest, finest basketball, there was some kind of iffy autos in that one. Yeah. Uh that might just be the exception to the rule.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. Might be a little bit have to do with the class of the rookie class and different things like that. I don't know. Um, but yeah, the case hits have been really good. Um I'm so I'm excited for that. They got a bunch of big releases coming up. Definitive baseball. Or is it dynasty or definitive? I don't know. Dynasty. Dynasty's coming up. They're doing uh Inception again, cosmic football. That's coming up here in a little bit as well. Huge. So a lot of a lot of big football. Uh for some baseball, if y'all are interested in baseball. Um platinum anniversary, another one of my favorite products. They're releasing like all my favorite products, like back to back to back, I feel like. Um but platinum anniversary. I bought a lot of it in 2022, uh, Bobby Witt rookie year, because I'm a fan of Bobby Witt. Um, and so that was a very nice set. I always really liked it, and they're finally bringing it back, and I'm really excited to get some of that. I think that comes out in like three weeks. So I'm excited for that.

SPEAKER_00

That's gonna be awesome. I I like it as well. Me and my son actually purchased uh a box while we were at Cooperstown and we ripped uh there. Oh, that's a good one. We went to the Hall of Fame and then they had a a shop. The amazing thing about Cooperstown, if you've never been, like everybody sells baseball cards there. I mean, you could go, you they don't have a Walmart there, but if they had a Walmart, well, Walmart sells baseball cards. That's a bad analogy. If they had a place that changed your oil, yeah, they would have baseball cards there. It's crazy.

SPEAKER_02

It is you were about to say if they had a Walmart, they'd sell baseball cards there. Yes, because they have the that was a horrible analogy. It's like it's like, man, I bet you, you know, you know, Cranks is the hobby is so crazy right now that Cranks would probably sell baseball cards.

SPEAKER_00

If they had a Chick-fil-A, they would sell chicken sandwiches up there.

SPEAKER_02

They would. Chicken's so good. Chick-fil-A would sell chicken for sure. Um last thing, okay. Um, that I have, trade night is coming up. What has been your favorite thing, something that you've enjoyed with our trade nights, because they have grown a ton. Yeah. Uh, and that's all thanks to you guys for coming by and supporting us. I think it's been really fun. I mean, when we first started it, we had 15 to 20 people coming. Last two trade nights, we've had over 80 people, between 80 and 100 people. It has been so fun. Uh, it's been really fun to expand over into like the new space a little bit, uh, playing a lot of games, uh, trying to make it really family friendly, really uh really event-oriented, instead of just like, oh, you're coming to trade carts. That's every card shop does that. You know, every card shop, people can come in and trade cards. We wanted to do something a little bit different and make it a family friendly, fun night, right? Um, and so we have the home run derby. It seems like kids really love uh doing that on MLB the show. We've got Cornhall, we've got uh putt for prizes, uh, we've got uh ping pong set up in here. I mean, it's it's it's really fun. And then obviously you can be trading. Uh we have uh Mr. Shout out Mr. T, shout out Crispy Cones. Uh yeah, so pizza and ice cream right b beside us and stuff. It's it's a lot of fun. It feels like a it feels like a hangout spot almost. And I I look forward to it. It doesn't feel like oh I'm just I'm just going to work. I I actually look forward to trade night. I'm really excited about it.

SPEAKER_00

That's one thing that uh we set out to do when we started trade nights at Cranks. We didn't want just another trade night. That's boring. I mean, well, it's exciting, but it's boring compared to what we do. Yeah. Um I I just like you know, it it you can be 12 years old and come to our trade night and have fun. Yep. And you can be 70, 80 years old and have fun. Yep. Um it's it's not specific to one age group or uh, you know, seeing a grandfather bring a grandson in and say, Okay, here's a Mickey Mantle card. Um I collected that when I was your age. Uh that's been fun to me. It has been. Um, and honestly, uh the giveaways. The giveaways have been incredible. We started doing free breaks. We had a paid break on the last one uh for Topps Chrome football. It had just released. Yep. Um, but there's so many opportunities to buy a card cheaper there, uh get a good card via giveaway or or something of that nature. Uh the excitement that I've seen on people's faces just been a lot of fun. They get a free card.

SPEAKER_02

Yep, it's been a lot of fun. Who doesn't like free cards, you know? So, anyways, a lot of cool products coming up, guys. Our trade nights coming up. When you'll be watching this, it'll be like in two days, the Friday, that Friday, uh from five to eight o'clock. So if you hadn't ever been to one of our trade nights, swing by. So much fun. Uh, a lot of giveaways. Uh, we've in the past couple giveaways or past couple trade nights, we've given away about $1,500 or really about $2,000 worth of stuff. Uh, this trade night's gonna be no different. We're gonna be giving away a jumbo box of Bowman basketball, maybe give away a couple Zion cases for people. We're gonna have the free breaks again that you can get into. Uh, a lot of fun for the kids, bring the whole family by. So uh we're looking forward to it. We're looking forward to seeing you guys there. Are you looking forward to it?

SPEAKER_00

I'm absolutely looking forward to it.

SPEAKER_02

I'm looking forward to it. I think it'll be fun.

SPEAKER_00

It's it's one of the funnest days of the month forever.

SPEAKER_02

The funnest.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

That's it. We'll see you in the next one.
