SPEAKER_01Guys, thank you for coming back to watch our fifth episode. Can you believe we've made it?
SPEAKER_02Well, they're not coming back to watch our fifth episode. They're watching, and this is our fifth episode.
SPEAKER_01Right, right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02They tell me not to correct the shop manager.
SPEAKER_01Let's just get right into it. Um, I got a few, I got a few things I'm gonna read off to you. I just want to know your opinion. I just I feel like I come here every week just to get your opinion on this. That's why we do these things. You just want to hear what I have to say. I can't even formulate my own, like I've been told to formulate my own thoughts, and I just can't. I gotta like everything that I think and feel, I'm getting from other people. And I have I have I I can't I can't even know what to think yet. I don't even know what to think. This is a big one that I feel like people have been talking about. Okay. At least in the shop. I don't know if anybody else is talking about I'm eager to hear this. There's a guy uh named Jordan. Shout out, Jordan, who works in the shop. Okay. Uh he also does whatnot. Um and he's been talking about this a lot. Uh SGA flopping. Flopping. He's he's mad about it. And I I tend to agree with how much has been going on. Um, that it's just kind of boring. And he's he's saying, is it ruining basketball? Is it ruining basketball, everybody flopping?
SPEAKER_02Well, I I don't know that he's necessarily running it, running basketball. Um I I have seen a lot of people talk about him flopping, yeah, him getting uh the ticky-tack fouls. I don't like it when a shooter goes up and he initiates the contact and and they call a foul on him. I know. I that should not be a foul. Like he he moves his his position to where he's fouling somebody. Yeah, I don't believe that should be called a foul. Yeah, I agree. I think they're just in the moment of trying to get a point. They're trying to get uh you know anything, get to the foul line so they can get a point. I I don't feel like that's fair. Yeah, if it's my team now, yeah, I want it called.
SPEAKER_01But right, right, right. But when you're initiating that, I don't know. To me, it's such a prevalent part of the game these days where you just I mean, everybody's doing it. And that's another thing that we could talk about is back in the day, I mean, they weren't doing that as much. I feel like people today they just seem soft. Are they soft these days?
SPEAKER_02I I think so.
SPEAKER_01It feels that way.
SPEAKER_02Back in the in the 90s, I believe if you got fouled, you felt it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And uh it it was it was definitely more significant than some of these fouls that they're calling in today's basketball games.
SPEAKER_01I agree. I think uh I may have said I may have even said this on the podcast. Um, I know I told you, but I saw this video of uh Bryce Harper getting hit in the face with like a 95 mile an hour pitch. Hit in the face with a baseball, 95 miles an hour, and LeBron just barely getting touched, and the videos were overlaid and uh or clipped side by side, and there was a uh a timer and LeBron was on the ground longer than Bryce Harper was on the ground. Harper was already back up, ready to go, uh, and uh and LeBron was just uh laying on the ground, all that everything. It's just it's just kind of funny because that is a big part of the sport these days, is they just you know, but it just it just comes across as so like I get that there's you know strategy to it, but man, you just look wimpy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I believe there's a there's a term for that. Uh people in my day would have called them, called them charmin because they're so soft.
SPEAKER_01That was uh that took me a second, but that was a good dad joke.
unknownThank you.
SPEAKER_01I liked it.
SPEAKER_02I got a bunch in the chamber.
SPEAKER_01I I feel like you do. Uh dads or the jokes? The jokes. Okay. He's a father. Um sorry. Okay, what else do I have? I don't even know if I have anything else. Do you have any questions? We have hot takes. We do have hot takes. We have um there's gonna be quite a few hot takes, but I don't want to get into that yet unless you don't have anything for me. I feel like you I feel like I feel like you need some of my wisdom.
SPEAKER_02Your your knowledge. Yeah. Okay. Um I've I've heard a lot of people uh come in this shop and I've had conversations with many people um about the hobby of collecting sports cards. Imagine that. I I work at a sports card shop and people.
SPEAKER_01I don't talk about hobby stuff ever while we're at work.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Um many people are asking, um, you know, how you make money, how do you make money in this hobby? Do I what's the best strategy? What uh what should I do? What um should I have a whatnot stream? Should I have an eBay page? Should I do this? Uh just go to shows. What, in your opinion, is the best way uh to make money in the hobby?
SPEAKER_01I think that flipping like okay, so flipping things I think is one of the safer ways because you never know what's gonna happen. If you're if you're doing like try to make money off of current players, like buying singles, you never know what's gonna happen. It's hard to hold, it's hard to predict that. It's hard to buy a player and hold them as like more of a long-term investment. I think just uh flipping would be the easiest, just buying singles and trying to flip them while they're hot, um, and just seek out those those uh deals like that. Um I know in the shop we've gotten burned on cards before. Everybody gets burned on cards, but I mean I we can talk about con for a little bit specifically. That's the most recent and maybe the most drastic, at least that I can think of in recent memory. Um we had some con stuff that was like $500 rookie cards, autograph rookie autos that were fourteen hundred dollars, uh that case hit headliners that was like $3,500 to $4,000. And every single one of them is at least down by 50%. Some more. Like that that green is only about a hundred dollar card now. That uh headliners case hit. I think I think it lasts sold for like $1,200. It's bad. So, like, I mean, that's scary, you know? If you're an individual person who's trying to make a little bit of money doing that, that's scary because you could have forked over thousands of dollars and just immediately lost a bunch. Now, if you're doing it at such a high velocity and you're winning a whole lot more than you're losing, hopefully, then it's okay, and then the numbers then the numbers make sense and stuff. But I to me, if you flipped that quickly though, while he was hot, you would have made money, you know.
SPEAKER_02What do you feel like uh contributed to him going down so much?
SPEAKER_01I think it's all about hype. I think it's all about hype. I think Khan's uh value will actually be okay. I I don't think it like because you saw it with Drake May, too. His stuff just absolutely exploded. Um and then it dropped drastically when he did not win. Um, and I think that uh it's definitely rebound from the bottom a little bit, not up to the highs of the hype when he was actually playing and uh going for the uh Super Bowl win and stuff. Um, but definitely up since the bottom. I think that people um I think people when they see that their card is starting to go down, then they put it on real quick, and then they lower it even more because they don't want to get stuck with it, and then that just shows a lower comp and then that happens until it bottoms out. I mean, kind of the same way with like stocks and stuff. It's FOMO, people fear of missing out, and people are just like, Oh my gosh, I gotta get the money right now quickly, and uh and so then they're willing to take a little bit less for it because they don't want to get stuck with it holding it at the bottom, but then they go right back up. I mean, he's a good enough player to where I think it'll go right back up. And these prices that we're seeing right now, yeah, maybe they won't be as high as when he was in the rookie of the year race, but I think they'll definitely go up from the bottom, and I think I think he's bottoming out right now. I think it's a probably a really good time to buy him.
SPEAKER_02I think especially with uh a product that comes out that's newly released, that's probably the best time to sell it because it it's eventually going to hit kind of a bottom or a um a little bit of a floor.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, people ask us all the time, should I grade this when they first hit it in in the shop? My opinion is go ahead and sell it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because it yeah, it could possibly be the same value as a PSA 10 as it would be a new product coming out the you know, the day of release or maybe the weekend of or of a release when everybody's watching eBay. Uh, I've seen that happen many a times where uh somebody sent it off and it wasn't as valuable as when they could have sold it initially.
SPEAKER_01Even if it got a tent. So yeah. No, I agree 100%.
SPEAKER_02I think uh Khan did have a maybe a couple of rough weeks there at the end of his season, and he's not playing basketball right now.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So um obviously he can't improve his stock right now.
SPEAKER_01Sure.
SPEAKER_02Um, so that's I think probably one of the deciding factors on uh his value going down just a little bit. I think he's a tremendous player. Uh I've been reminded of that because my son's a Duke player, and and when everybody was high on Cooper coming out, he said, hey, pay attention to Khan as well. Yeah. Uh of course he also said Seon James and Malawak and anybody else that played at Duke. But I believe that's a pretty good class once you start dissecting it and when some of those uh other players start playing and get the opportunity. I think that's going to be a good class.
SPEAKER_01I think so too, yeah. Um, did you have anything else before we move on?
SPEAKER_02Um I I know we have a bunch of hot takes. A bunch of hot. So we should probably go ahead and move on.
SPEAKER_01That's what I think too. We got a bunch of them, and the reason why we have a bunch of them is because people, some feedback um that we got from the three people who watched the previous podcast, um, is that uh maybe one day we'll hit four people.
SPEAKER_02If we hit four views, I think we're getting there.
SPEAKER_01Maybe.
SPEAKER_02I mean your mom, your dad, my dad. There's four.
SPEAKER_01There's four right there. We need a couple other people in uh was it Germany? Where were people watching? UK. Yeah, the UK. Okay. We need a couple more people. UK people, just help us out a little bit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um a lot of hot takes. People were saying that they enjoyed the hot takes um that were submitted. So we we want to do that again. Yeah, we're for the people.
SPEAKER_02Uh I'll let you get yours ready, but I believe uh let's just uh shout out Richard right now. Richard, he said that uh it takes us a little bit out of our element because it's not something that uh we talk about you know frequently. A lot of the hot takes that we had were on football and we're more baseball guys, and it takes us a little bit out of our element. He likes to see us sweat a little bit.
SPEAKER_01He does. He I think he uh, you know, he's at the end of the day, man, he might be preying on our downfall, you know. Nope. Appreciate Richard. He's a good customer. Richard's a good guy. What you got, Parker? Um, I got a couple different oh man. This one's a doozy right off the bat. We got uh Wimbin Yama. I don't know if he spelled that right. Um Wimbin Yama will be top uh Man, I I can't hardly even read this. I can make fun of this one because it Jordan extra. Jordan. I don't even think he this is just I can't just call him Wimby. Yeah, yeah. Wimby will be top of all time by the end of his career. That just doesn't even feel like that flows right. Wimby will be the top of all time. The top of all time? We'll say top five of all time. Okay.
SPEAKER_02I think I can defend Jordan here and uh and say I think that's a good uh hot take.
SPEAKER_01A good thing?
SPEAKER_02I think uh he's defensively he's good. He's a big man that can uh shoot the ball outside the perimeter. Um so I I think that's a good hot take, Jordan. Uh if if he plays consistently like he can play up to his potential. I believe that that over a long period of time, I mean I'm not talking five or six years, he's got to do it for an extended period of time. And well, we've had maybe four years of Wimby now. Um, I think that uh he could be a top ten player. I think he can win an MVP, multiple MVPs, defensive player of the year. Um I I think that's in his in his arsenal.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I just think it's too early. I mean, you see players have such a hot start uh across all sports. Um they could be one of the best players at the first four or five years. And then I mean, I just think it's early to say that. I I think that it I guess if you're saying could, then yeah, could. I mean, but but anything could happen, you know. I mean, uh Khan could end up being the best player of all time, you know. But I to me, it's like to me, that's just way too early to say, oh, I think he's gonna be top five of all time or something when it when it's all said and done. I think that we need to see a few more years out of him. I think that uh it just needs to be further on in his career. Because I mean, he he is a big guy. He could get hurt. I feel like those guys tend to get hurt a lot more. He did put on some size, which is good. Um, I think that he needed that because he just looked really like he was he looked like a twig, you know, that tall and being like very, very skinny. So I think that's good, but um to me, I think it's early.
SPEAKER_02I think one of the biggest things that concerns me with him being so big is that those big men are prone to get injured a lot. Yeah, there's just a lot of of just I mean, he's got big body parts. I mean uh but there's a lot, there's a lot that can get injured there. Yeah. Uh he's just significantly bigger than the average person, and even the average NBA basketball.
SPEAKER_01I mean, yeah, I mean a lot of times when uh when he's playing, I mean he looks the other guys look small around him, and it's just it's crazy because he he's huge. He's seven, how tall is he again?
SPEAKER_02I want to say seven nine.
SPEAKER_01Crazy.
SPEAKER_02It's huge. I could be totally off, but um, you know, there's there's so many times that there's been professional players uh that have had tremendous talent.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And because of injuries, they're not the greatest of all time.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_02Um one of my favorite players uh growing up was King Griffey Jr. If he had healthy seasons when he got to Cincinnati, uh I think he could have been the all-time home run champion.
SPEAKER_01I think so. I think that uh I think yeah, there's a lot of guys like that. Griffey for sure, one of them.
SPEAKER_02Um even Mickey Mannell. Uh Mickey Mann had several knee injuries. Yep. And uh, you know, he's probably uh, you know, his card is the most iconic card in all of sports, I believe.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02The 52 uh Mannel. I agree. Everybody uh would love to have one of those. I believe if he even if he wasn't uh you know an all-time great, I don't think you can put him in the top five uh in MLB. He's still the most uh sought after card. Yeah. Um or well, you know, somebody might collect other things and some people might not want a 1952 tops uh I I do for the record.
SPEAKER_01So if anybody out there does have one, where do we send it? Let me know. Let me know. Cranks, Cranks Sports Trading Gallery here in Udwal, Tennessee. Okay, right across the street from Chick-fil-A.
SPEAKER_02But injuries, injuries did hit him. Um I think if you look at the you know you're you're always gonna have arguments with the top five in any sport. Uh but if you look at uh some of the most talented players, I don't think that they're in the top ten.
SPEAKER_01I agree. Are you ready for the next hot take?
SPEAKER_02I'm ready for a hot take.
SPEAKER_01Another guy that comes in? Nate? Nate? Okay. Is Jordan Love gonna go down as the goat?
SPEAKER_02Absolutely not.
SPEAKER_01Um sorry, Date.
SPEAKER_02I I man, that's a hot I'd love, I'd love to tell you, yes, absolutely. I agree with you, hands down, but um I think it's gonna be tough for him to get to the first you know Super Bowl and win it.
SPEAKER_01I don't think he I don't think goat is a bit much. Yeah. Is he gonna go down as good? Yeah, I think he's good. I think he's gonna go down as good. Goat? That's that's a tough it's tough. Yeah. I don't know if I can uh I don't know if I can say that. That was a quick one because uh very easy to dismiss that question.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But I mean, as far as hot takes, most people would disagree. That's that's so it's a good hot take. That's I mean that's that's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_01It do we call it a good hot take if most people wouldn't agree? Or a good hot take if it's like, wow, I agree with that. I think it's a bad hot take if most people agree, right?
SPEAKER_02I yeah. I I'll I see the way you're thinking.
SPEAKER_01See what I'm saying? Because the very nature of a hot take is supposed to be spicy.
SPEAKER_02If everybody agreed with it, then it wouldn't be a hot take.
SPEAKER_01It would be a bad hot take. So that was a good good hot take, Nate. That's like one of the best we've had.
SPEAKER_02Habanero hot take.
SPEAKER_01It's hot. All right. Uh here's another one.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01Juan Soto. Here's a baseball one. Oh, yeah. Juan Soto is underrated and undervalued in the hobby. His cards should be worth more than they are.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna take the side of that one. I I think I agree. Um, you know, bad hot take.
SPEAKER_01Bad hot, because I agree as well. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Well, I think he's um when he's on, he's probably top three offensive players, three or four. Yeah. Um, I think he's incredible. He reaches base uh at an insane rate. I believe he recognizes the strike zone as good as anybody in the in baseball.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um and if you equate that to card market, I think what hurts him the most of all is he's been on so many different teams. I mean, it's hard to even remember. Hey, he's a national, he was a national.
SPEAKER_01I know. He was a national padre, Yankee, Yankee, and then Mets. Yeah, man. He's so young. Like, I think that's what he had because what you said on base percentage is crazy, plate discipline is crazy. He's so young that he might not have the have had the hottest start out of, you know, like as crazy as people like Mike Trout, Otani, Judge, to where like all of a sudden they were just all amazing when they first came up, it's it seems like. I mean, at most, maybe it took them a year to get really get going. Maybe he hasn't been as dominant immediately, but I feel like he's so young. Like, I think he came up at 19, and at 19 he had like over 400 on base percentage. That's crazy. And Judge came up at 24 or 25. So, like, longevity-wise, if he can do that, even if he can just be a really solid player, not the greatest, but if he can be solid, his accumulative stats and war and stuff like that, he's gonna have a stupid good um career if he can just be like good, not great.
SPEAKER_02I think most people forget that he he's won a world series. Yeah. Um, you know, Harper left, he stepped in, they won the World Series a year after Harper left. So most people don't even remember that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um he's already won a World Series.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, he's been he hasn't won that MVP yet, has he?
SPEAKER_01Uh I don't think so. I don't think he has. It's gonna be bad if uh he hasn't the one of us. I don't think he has though. I think he's been close. I mean, he's been in the race a few times, but I don't think he's actually won, unless I'm just totally blanking.
SPEAKER_02I know this isn't the the most uh important stat, but do you realize he led the league last year, national league, in stolen bases?
SPEAKER_01Did he really?
SPEAKER_02He was tied for number one, but he I mean he practically led and I would not have thought that.
SPEAKER_01I wouldn't have either. I think that to your point about the so many teams, I think that's very true. He did sign with the Mets for 15 years, though. So I think that that rebounds a little bit. I think that's gonna help. I mean, I think once he's on the Mets for a couple years, I kind of think we'll maybe. I mean, no one really knows what the market's gonna do, but I kind of think that maybe we'll start to see hit for how good of a player he is, his card market actually catch up to that.
SPEAKER_02I think what could hurt everybody's value is if Major League Baseball goes on strike next year. Yeah, that would that that's gonna kill everybody.
SPEAKER_01For sure.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Um that would be that would be horrible. But as far as his uh card prices, we were talking about that. Um maybe the more years he gets under his belt in the same uniform, that's gonna help.
SPEAKER_01I think so. Because it's like you don't know what card to collect. You're like, man, he's got oh, this is a really cool rookie card, or this is a really cool case hit, but what He's got that same case hit with four different uniforms and stuff. It's like it's kind of hard to to like if you're collecting your favorite team, well then you don't collect Juan Soto because he's on so many different teams. But now being Mets for 15 years, I think that I think that figures it's better.
SPEAKER_02Unless he opts out. He does have ops opt-outs in his contract, I believe.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then that could just put him in another uniform. But I know that, you know, like Yankee fans, they're not going to collect him anymore.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_02And New York Met fans, they're not going to collect the let's see, it would have been the 2024 uh season of his. They don't want to see him in a Yankees uniform. Yeah. So those uh that that limits the value of those cards because there's not as many people seeking out those cards. Yep. So I believe that's uh something that's happening to him.
SPEAKER_01I agree. I agree. So we're gonna certify that as being a bad hot take because it was a it was something we agreed with.
SPEAKER_02We both agreed with it. So bad hot tag. Do you want me to do a hot tag?
SPEAKER_01If you have some, I have one.
SPEAKER_02Okay. And um I you may not like this one.
SPEAKER_01Oh no.
SPEAKER_02Most case hits are actually ugly and have no aesthetic appeal.
SPEAKER_01What define most, because that most is like the biggest more than normal. Like, what are you meaning by that? Because, okay, okay, well, here, how about this? I'm gonna say a few case hits. Okay. You're gonna tell me if that falls in that category. This will tell us a lot about what uh you think looks good and not.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01Uh kabooms.
SPEAKER_02I love kabooms. Kabooms are are great.
SPEAKER_01Home field advantage.
SPEAKER_02Hmm. Honestly, I think they kind of copy downtown too much.
SPEAKER_01Fair enough. That's fair. Okay, so so down, but since they look so similar, home field advantage and downtown, that can mean the same thing. Do you think they look good?
SPEAKER_02I think they could do more with them.
SPEAKER_01Think they could do more with them? All right, that's fair. Color blasts.
SPEAKER_02I like color blasts.
SPEAKER_01Color blasts are sick. Kabooms are my favorite, probably, like the way they look. Uh Planetary Pursuits from Cosmic. I know you like Cosmic.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_01Okay, you do like those. I do like those. All kings and all aces. I like those too. Okay, I feel like you're saying that most look good so far. Okay, let me think.
SPEAKER_02This is a good hot take then.
SPEAKER_01Maybe it is. But then I don't even know if you agree with your hot take. Uh Genesis from Mosaic.
SPEAKER_02I could do without those.
SPEAKER_01Do without those.
SPEAKER_02Um I don't think they differ differentiate from a normal card at the end.
SPEAKER_01Mosaic. Yeah. They're very similar. They're very similar. I'm trying to think what some other panini case hits, because I just said like micromosaic. Micro mosaic. I don't really like the micromosaics that much. Yeah. Personally. Do you? I don't really either. I don't really either.
SPEAKER_02And I as a matter of fact, today.
SPEAKER_01Color wheel. That's another one.
SPEAKER_02Color wheel's okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You could take it or leave it. I mean, if somebody's offering it up, you'll take it, but you're not going to seek it out.
SPEAKER_01I'm not seeking it out. I think color blast for sure. Color blast and color wheels to me like look like they're very similar with what they're trying to do, but the color blasts outweigh the color wheel by a lot, I think.
SPEAKER_02I think I would rather have a tie-dye than a yeah.
SPEAKER_01I think so too. The tie-dyes look awesome.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01They look really good. I like those. I'm trying to think of other case.
SPEAKER_02That's not technically a case hit, that's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_01But I'm trying to think, what are some other case hits? Oh, the uh you have like the Prismania.
SPEAKER_02I don't care for Prismania.
SPEAKER_01I think the headliners out of Finest, I think those look similar to the like they both have big heads.
SPEAKER_02Do you feel like they're just they're copying each other? Or maybe Topps is copying Panini?
SPEAKER_01I think they might be copying each other, I think, but it see, I think that that's a a good thing because uh what's that quote that um it's the sincerest form of flattery? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.
SPEAKER_02Uh yeah, they're imitating.
SPEAKER_01So is that what it is? Yeah, uh so I think they should be flattered. Okay.
SPEAKER_02But I'm sure Panini's flattered right now as they see similar cards being put out.
SPEAKER_01Maybe, maybe not. I don't know. But uh, I don't know. I think that saying most that is a hot take because I I think that most look okay and good, and I and I'm fine with. There are some that are like that's not a very attractive looking case set. But um, so I think that's a good hot take because it was bad.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01I have more. Okay. I have more from other viewers. Let's see. I read that one, read that one, I read the crazy Jordan Love one. Okay. Uh Jose Soriano. Ah, we know who this is. He had some bad takes. Sorry. Uh okay, Jose Soriano is the best pitcher in the MLB right now, unless he's pitching against the Chicago White Sox.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna have to disagree with that.
SPEAKER_01I disagree too. He said that he gave uh he's given up 10 runs, and eight, I think he said eight of them have been with the Chicago White Sox.
SPEAKER_02Wow.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So he's only given up two. It's pretty good.
SPEAKER_02I think the White Sox are better than than they've been in previous years.
SPEAKER_01For sure.
SPEAKER_02But I don't think Soriano's uh the best pitcher. If I had a game seven right now, I'm taking Paul Skeens.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm not I'm there's no way I'm taking Jose Soriano. I think that he is doing phenomenal. Um and there's an argument of like, okay, the best pitcher or the hottest pitcher? Because I think there's a difference. You can get really hot for a few games where you are just untouchable. But that but does that translate to the best overall season? I don't think so. I think that he's really good. I think he started the year off very strong. And who knows, maybe he even finishes the year off very strong. I don't know. Maybe he does. Um, but to me, I'd think it's way too early uh to say he's the best pitcher in baseball.
SPEAKER_02I think he's a um pretty much a surefire all-star at this point.
SPEAKER_01I think so.
SPEAKER_02And he's probably in the top three of Cy Young in the American League. Uh but if I had a game seven starting tomorrow, uh Skeens is there, maybe Scoobyl. Um I might even go Chris Sale.
SPEAKER_01Chris Sale's Chris Sale's looking good, but you are a Braves fan, so you're probably biased. Uh that's that's I mean I'm a Braves fan too. No, you're not. I don't know why I just said that. Established that in the last podcast. I mean, we are Braves fans, but yeah, we are.
SPEAKER_02Uh quotation marks.
SPEAKER_01This is the last one. Did you have any others?
SPEAKER_02I actually do.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Um well you do one more and then I'll or okay. However many more you have, and then I'll do my last one.
SPEAKER_02Uh this is more so about the hobby. Okay. Uh, most people have no clear direction on what they collect.
SPEAKER_01That's interesting. That's very broad too. Uh man, what's most people? I feel like most people have a favorite team. I feel like most people probably have a favorite player or top three players that they like to collect. If we're talking about so, so like I would disagree in that sense. But if we're that's why it's I feel like it's broad, because if we're talking about like brand, or if we're getting really technical with it, like okay, autographs or patches, or this type of numbered cards, or I want to collect the rainbow of this uh card, or I'm only getting this guy's rookies, or I'm only collecting the team set, then yes, I think it could vary a lot right there. Because oh my goodness, there's a whole lot of products that release. I mean, I don't know what the number is, the exact number, but hundreds of products release every year. So in that aspect, I could I could see that. But in if we're zooming out a little bit, I feel like most people have a favorite team and most people have a couple favorite players that they like to collect.
SPEAKER_02I think this hot take is is going along the lines of uh people are letting the hobby dictate what's valuable and what's not valuable to them. That's fair. Yeah, you know, they they know this certain card is valuable because it's numbered to this certain uh extent. They uh think this card is valuable because it's a case hit, supposedly.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And they're not necessarily, okay, I am collecting the team set, I am collecting all the braves out of this uh product.
SPEAKER_01Sure.
SPEAKER_02I don't think they're doing that anymore as much as they used to in the when I was growing up in the 90s. Of course, there was a lot less cards to collect in the 90s. Um lot less sets. Yes. They they had a lot of inserts, yeah. Um, and we see that now. But um Were they printing cards back when you were growing up? They do.
SPEAKER_01When did they put were the is that when they had the the big printer where they had like the thing that came down and it was like flat right here, and you had to push it down like this. Is that what they were doing?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. Well, actually they had this big uh stone and a chisel and something that mimicked a hammer. I they may not even call it a hammer at that time.
SPEAKER_01They probably didn't. That's more like that's more recent. Yeah. Well, that's interesting. Well, um that was a I feel like that is a very that's a very mid hot take, because parts of that I agree with, parts of it I would disagree with. To me, that's like a that's like a it's like it's a take.
SPEAKER_02It's like Taco Bell hot sauce, it's kind of still kind of mild.
SPEAKER_01It's a take. Yeah. I mean not hot, not cold. It was just it was there. It was a take.
SPEAKER_02You have one more?
SPEAKER_01I have one more. My phone's upside down, hold on. Okay. Uh here's another football one. Uh Patriots will miss the playoffs next season. Now they don't have any now, they don't have an easy schedule.
SPEAKER_02I don't think they'll miss the playoffs.
SPEAKER_01I don't think so either.
SPEAKER_02Will they make it as far as they did this year? I mean, I don't think so. How much of a harder schedule is it? It is pretty tough. Um, I haven't seen the whole thing, but I heard somebody talking about it on sports radio.
SPEAKER_00Really?
SPEAKER_02Um, it is pretty tough. It was it was pretty bad last year. I mean, they had I think it was the easiest schedule to get to the Super Bowl than any other team that had reached the Super Bowl.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Well, I I think they still have the pieces to where they can be good, and I think they will be good. Um I don't know. That's a good one. I I just I think I think they'll go far. Maybe not as far, but I think they've get definitely have the pieces to to excel.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I I think they'll at least reach the um, you know, it's not too hard to get to the one-card, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02People do it all the time. Teams do it all the time. I I think they can make they can make the playoffs at least.
SPEAKER_01I think so. Um, okay. So this is coming out the 27th. Trying to see what uh what we got going on the 27th. Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh. In just a few days, we're gonna be having our uh trade night for the flip. All right. So we'll be at the flip show. Y'all come see us at the flip show. We're gonna be hosting the trade night for the flip show. Um that'll be a lot of fun. What are we gonna have going on then?
SPEAKER_02Same same thing that we usually have at all of our other trade nights, uh, but it'll be hosted by us. It's in uh it's coinciding with that flip show. We'll have things like uh we'll have breaks, we'll have uh some giveaways. We always have giveaways that are trade night.
SPEAKER_01Sweet.
SPEAKER_02We'll have different games that people can play, home run to return on uh be fun. The switch. Uh so that it'll be a fun time.
SPEAKER_01That will be fun. We got a lot of nice products coming up. Yes. Um by this point, we are definitely gonna be having top's finest football. Super excited for top's finest football. We will have the Bowman U, uh Bowman Bowman's Best basketball. That one will be really fun. Um, I'm excited for that. Uh I'm trying to think cosmic football. I don't know if I know the exact date on that, but that's gonna be coming out. Um cosmic football or cosmic basketball between the two. They're coming out pretty close together. We already have the basketball in shop. Which one are you were you looking forward to most?
SPEAKER_02I think most people look forward to the the football, but I think because of the rookie class, if I had if I could buy one or the other box, I'm probably going basketball.
SPEAKER_01Are you going basketball?
SPEAKER_02I'm going, I'm going flag hunting.
SPEAKER_01That's fair. I mean, he's he's a big one. Uh, and then this is the last one, speaking of going flag hunting. Uh, signature series basketball comes out or signature class. Is it signature class? Yeah, top signature class.
SPEAKER_02They didn't do that for basketball last year. No, that's why they're doing it for that.
SPEAKER_01They did it for football. Yeah, but that's gonna look look at that. They probably won't be able to see that on the camera, but look at that. It looks nice.
SPEAKER_02That does look nice.
SPEAKER_01I don't know if uh probably can't see that, but go look it up yourself. Um, it's a LeBron LeBron auto right there. It looks really nice. I'm excited for that product. We'll have that as well. Um, so I'm excited. We got a lot of fun stuff coming up um with releases and then our uh the trade night that we're gonna have. Um and I'm excited.
SPEAKER_02It's been exciting doing five episodes with you.
SPEAKER_01Fifth episode? We're five in.
SPEAKER_02We're five in. Hopefully, uh many more to come.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I mean, I'd I'd be happy with it at least five more.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01If we if you told me right now that we were halfway through and we're never gonna do any more podcasts, I'd be like, man, maybe I'd want a little bit more.
SPEAKER_02I would.
SPEAKER_01Let us know if y'all would want a little bit more.
