Welcome to the Crank It Up Sports Card Podcast with your host Parker Johnson and co-host Matthew Emerson.
SPEAKER_01Who the heck is that? Welcome back, guys, to the Crank It Up Sports Card Podcast for the eighth episode. Yes, sir. The eighth episode. Um thank you for uh swinging on by. We're gonna be talking about all things sports. We've got some fun segments as always, but right now we're gonna get into talking some basketball. What did you think about the finals? We were wrong in our predictions. I was way off. I was way off as well.
SPEAKER_03So I I I thought that uh the Knicks had not really played anybody up to that point, and uh that the the Spurs were going to give them a big test.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I really think that the Spurs uh they threw away massive opportunities to that series.
SPEAKER_01They were up huge, like in every game, I feel like.
SPEAKER_03In every game. Every game. Even the last game. I said that the Spurs would win in six.
SPEAKER_01I said they'd win in seven.
SPEAKER_03They didn't even get to six.
SPEAKER_01So that's bad.
SPEAKER_03But if I think it was game three, two or three, Wimby throws the ball in the back of Castle. Yeah, and I think uh if if he makes that if he doesn't make that that mistake, they win that game.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Uh the one that they were up so much game five, I believe. Sure. Or four.
SPEAKER_01Was it yeah, one of them up like twenty or thirty points?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they they I believe if Fox just dribbles the ball out, they win that.
SPEAKER_01How do you how are you up 20 to 30 points though? You know, and and how does it come down to like I know that we can point to like, you know, Fox just dribbles it a little bit more, but like I don't even think it should have gotten to that one if.
SPEAKER_03I think you could say if on that certain play, but so many other things had to happen for them to get to that one play.
SPEAKER_01You shouldn't just be giving it away like that.
SPEAKER_03You you don't just go down the court and jack up a three. Yeah, you you dribble the ball some, uh work the clock. If you're up that much, it really takes a lot for you to come back. Yeah, it does if you just waste a little bit of time. And in an NBA team as athletic as the Spurs are, they could have definitely wasted more time in their shot select shot selection. Yep. And I think that really costs easy for you to say.
SPEAKER_01Um yeah, no, that uh that that that's just crazy. I can't believe they only won one. Um did you see what Wimby said afterwards in the uh in like the press conference or whatever it was, and he was like he's like, see y'all again, never, and walked off. Did you see that?
SPEAKER_03I didn't see that part.
SPEAKER_01I looked that up, it was after the game, and uh all the reporters were talking to him.
SPEAKER_03There was a big controversy of him not shaking hands. How do you feel about that?
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_03It shaking hands with the Knicks, you know, like saying good game or good series or whatever. Congratulations.
SPEAKER_01I don't know if I saw that part. I saw the part where he said talk to you later never or something like that. It was pretty funny. You gotta we'll look that up afterwards. It's funny. He just gets up, he's like, I'll see y'all later. Never and puts the microphone down.
SPEAKER_03Speaking of not shaking hands at the end of it, do you feel like that's bad sportsmanship? Is it good for the game?
SPEAKER_01I I feel like now maybe I'm uh you know brought up a little old school, but I would I would want to shake everybody's hand. I feel like not shaking people's hand, maybe now I don't know the context. I didn't really see that clip or whatever, but I don't know. I feel like yeah, he probably should have sh sh shook the hands of everybody.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I think uh a lot of people are concentrating on things like that nowadays, and and uh, you know, he just he lost his first finals.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I mean, give him a little bit of time. Uh, but I I do think it sparks controversy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Uh I think that uh now there's something expected of him of, you know, is he a bad player? Or he's not a bad player, but you know, a bad person or whatever. I his character, it speaks for itself in that, you know, he would anybody would be disappointed.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, I think it's modifying to be disappointed and stuff. I thought uh and there was a lot of I kept seeing like posts on Instagram and Facebook and all that type of stuff about him being like a lot of people were saying that he was a dirty player. Did you see some of those plays? And do you think he is, or do you think he was just fed up with getting beat up?
SPEAKER_03Because he kind of gets you know, he gets thrown around a lot.
SPEAKER_01So you think he was just fed up, maybe?
SPEAKER_03I think so. Um I think there was one call in the last game uh where Brunson is shooting a uh shot and he doesn't allow him to land, which they're calling that a flagrant foul in most cases. And if he would have been called for that, he would have been ejected for the next game.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um so I think I think the refs kind of helped him on that.
SPEAKER_02Sure.
SPEAKER_03But uh it's hard not to get frustrated when you are being thrown around and people are constantly being physical with him uh in a in a game in and in that series. And uh I think all that adds up to where, you know, yeah, if you throw an elbow every once in a while, it's almost expected.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, for sure. No, yeah. Yeah, that's true. That uh it was a wild series. I I did not have the Knicks in five.
SPEAKER_03I didn't.
SPEAKER_01That was very unexpected.
SPEAKER_03But congratulations to the Knicks and to the Knicks fans. What do you think that does to Wimby's card market?
SPEAKER_01I think like we'll see what happened with Drake May personally. I think it'll go down from how high it was, but I think it'll go down too much because everybody's gonna just want to jump off his cards, and then people are gonna realize, wait a second, they're a little too low, and then I think they'll go back up a little bit.
SPEAKER_03Well, I think kind of unlike May, though, is I don't think May was really expected to win the Super Bowl Bowl once they got there. They were underdogs.
SPEAKER_01They were underdogs, that is true. So maybe, I don't know, maybe it'll have a bigger drop then, or maybe it won't recover as good as May's market did. I'm not too sure what that uh what that'll do. You said congrats to the Knicks and the Knicks fans. What do you think about the Knicks fans?
SPEAKER_03I mean, there was a lot of I think win, lose, draw, uh anything. There was going to be some some stuff happening in New York, and uh I would I would have hate hated to been in New York when they won.
SPEAKER_01Uh man, it was crazy. Do you see that? There was this one video of that one Spurs fan who had a jersey and he's just walking through the crowd and then like he starts taking everybody on. It was crazy.
SPEAKER_03I didn't see that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was kind of crazy.
SPEAKER_03Is is there a sports town that would have reacted worse?
SPEAKER_01I don't know. I don't I don't think so. I feel like the Knicks uh yeah, I don't think so. I think it was pretty bad. I saw a lot of bad reactions.
SPEAKER_03I think there's a couple of sports towns that maybe you could throw up there.
SPEAKER_01Who do you think?
SPEAKER_03Uh Philadelphia.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the Phillies, they're uh they're like some of the worst. Yeah. Uh uh people have said I'm not saying people are like, oh, Phillies fans are terrible. I would I wouldn't say that.
SPEAKER_03You wouldn't.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the Crank It Up Podcast wouldn't say that about Phillies fans. But I've just heard some would say that Phillies fans are really bad.
SPEAKER_03So uh a bandwagon Braves fan would probably walk those comments back, right?
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Braves all day. Look at that.
SPEAKER_03What about Detroit?
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Detroit seems to be a a place that has a reaction when something in sports happens. And it's just I don't live in Detroit. I choose not to live in Detroit. So I'm not bashing our Detroit fan base.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. We have a lot.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01We have a lot out there. Shout out Detroit and Philadelphia.
SPEAKER_03But otherwise, um, those would probably be ones that I would put up there with uh places I wouldn't want to be if they won or lost championships.
SPEAKER_01A little rowdy, get a little crazy. Um you want to go to hot takes?
SPEAKER_03Let's go to hot takes. Uh but to finish the comments, um look at their case.
SPEAKER_01I was excited about it. I was excited. I was excited. Maybe I get a little ahead of myself. Okay, continue.
SPEAKER_03Okay. I asked you how it would affect uh Wembinama's uh card value. Yeah, I hear a lot of people saying that they're going to invest in him right now because they don't feel like there's gonna be another time where you can buy Wimby as cheap as he is right now.
SPEAKER_01Really? What? I feel like it will fall.
SPEAKER_03There there is somebody about two hours south of Utawa, Tennessee, that has taken a strong stance on that.
SPEAKER_01I think it's gonna fall.
SPEAKER_03And he has a big hobby shop.
SPEAKER_01I think it will fall. Um not long, but I think there's gonna be a dip. There's gonna for sure be a dip.
SPEAKER_03You buy the dip.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you buy the dip. I but not right this second. I'm not buying right this second. I think it's still probably high. Like maybe in a week or two, I think you'll start seeing prices be dramatically different.
SPEAKER_03I don't think that that's out of the realm of possibility.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Why do you think he's just gonna keep going up from here? Is he saying like he's gonna be the next Otani or something where his cards are just continue to go up?
SPEAKER_03He said now's your opportunity to buy him.
SPEAKER_01That is interesting.
SPEAKER_03And I think it's because he's thinking that people are about to offload him.
SPEAKER_01True.
SPEAKER_03And then next year he's gonna be right there back at it, doing the same thing. Probably making his way till the finals.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, I would agree. I would agree with that. Like I said, I think it'll be a dip. And then I think everybody's gonna realize, oh, wait a minute, it went a little too low, and then they start buying it again, and then the prices are gonna go back up.
SPEAKER_03I just had to get that off my chest. But you wanted to go to hot takes.
SPEAKER_01Because why not? So let's go to our segment hot takes. You got any hot takes?
SPEAKER_03I do have a hot take. It is sizzling hot.
SPEAKER_01Sizzling?
SPEAKER_03It is sizzling.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Is it sizzling?
SPEAKER_03It is, it's pretty hot. And I just I kind of heard somebody talking about it a little bit, but I also kind of thought of yeah, I stole it. No, really, I thought about it myself as well.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_03The reason why PSA shut down is to get more people to grade with Beckett and uh SGC.
SPEAKER_01That's very interesting. Uh, I have not thought about that. I've not heard about that um until just now. And now that I'm hearing about that and processing that, I think that's a good hot take. It's a good hot take, so good meaning maybe I disagree with it.
SPEAKER_03You disagree.
SPEAKER_01But the same thing, at the same time though, like why? Because I don't know profit profitability-wise what who which company's making more, even though they're all owned by the same one. But I would think with how PSA upcharges and stuff, I would think that PSA would be the most profitable. So again, all owned by the same same company. Is it collector?
SPEAKER_03Collectors.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So I feel like maybe I could see that, but I don't know. If they're all your company and one one of your company is doing the best, would you want to send people over to your other company? Like, I feel like that's just making your margins or profitability lower. Because they don't like SGC doesn't upcharge at all for anything.
SPEAKER_03$15 flat.
SPEAKER_01And then Beckett, they upcharge to cover the insurance, is that right?
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_01And then PSA can upcharge like a ton. So I don't know. That's an interesting take. I haven't heard that before. What what is what are your thoughts on it?
SPEAKER_03I think there might be a little bit of credibility towards it. I mean, it was it was my thought. I thought about that. Uh, even though I didn't hear somebody later actually mention the same thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um I think it helps the bottom line. You know, it helps all all parts under that umbrella of collectors. Um if you can get more people grading in other places too, because I mean I think Beckett can benefit the most from PSA shutdown.
SPEAKER_01But then again, it if that is the reason, is that a smart decision? And the reason why I say that is because uh a few podcasts ago, um, there were people who have a really great podcast who were actually talking about the numbers. Um and CGC was second. So if the biggest company shuts down, wouldn't you feel like you're giving a lot about a competition? Like sending a lot of people to the competition. Um, at least for Pokemon, maybe not so much as sports, but TCG you're sending to PSA or CGC. You're not sending I mean, I don't see many people sending uh TCG to BGS or man, there's a lot of abbreviations or whatever to TCG to BGS or SGC, they're typically sending TCG to CGC. Did I get that right? You did. Jeez, that's a lot.
SPEAKER_03Uh so I have to slow that down though.
SPEAKER_01I think so. That kind of hurt my brain a little bit. But um, so I feel like in if you're looking at it that way, and CGC second, right as far as how many cards they're grading monthly, right behind PSA, PSA shuts down that those cheaper tiers to send them off. I feel like a lot would go to CGC.
SPEAKER_03I see what you're saying there. I remember um years ago, the uh General Motors, of course, they're big manufacturer of Chevy and GMC trucks and and vehicles, uh, they had Pontiac, Pontiac under their umbrella. They had Saturn, they had other companies under them, sure, and eventually they just went away because nobody wanted those products anymore. Or they got in a financial situation where they had to consolidate. Um I don't think that collectors is in uh financial uh hardship or just or struggles. I mean, they're printing money with uh with PSA. But if you want to improve the quality of everything, sure, just so that those products that they bought out are safe, I can see that being a reason.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um that's the only way that they could possibly save those companies that they bought.
SPEAKER_01New new numbers, monthly numbers hadn't come out since they've shut down, have they?
SPEAKER_03I have not seen any.
SPEAKER_01We we need to cover that on the next pod, like whenever that comes out, we need to cover that on the next podcast. And refer back to the one that we did have, because I want to see how big of a jump, if any, uh, of which companies uh like had the biggest jump. Because that is interesting to to think about. If if uh if it's uh you know tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands uh per uh company, that would be really interesting to see. And maybe that maybe there would be some credence to that.
SPEAKER_03If it if it throws it off 10% of what PSA is is upgrading at the moment, I think it helps those other companies.
SPEAKER_01I think so, yeah. Also though, like if PSA is behind and has like the $10 million backlog, they have other graders at the other companies.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Why don't they just be like, you know, come over here and grade some stuff?
SPEAKER_03I think that some have suggested that they have done that. That they've said, okay, you know, but we're only grading 50,000 cards here, move over to the big company, to PSA. Um do you ever see those companies merging and being just one company big entity?
SPEAKER_01I hope not. I'll say I hope not. I think that's a possibility though. Um I would not like to see that though, because I think that gives variety. Um I think there's actually reasons why I like each one of those. I think like the look of SGC, especially for vintage and stuff, with the black border, I think makes the card really pop. And I really like that design. Um Beckett slabs feel like a brick. Like that, I feel like and they're and they're in like the little sleeve on the inside too. Like if it's with with Beckett, I'm like, okay, my card is like protected, you know. It's in it's in a secured vault, essentially, you know. And then and then PSA for value, you know. Like if you're getting a PSA 10, PSA 10s are king right now. They're gonna be more than um SGC, maybe uh not more than uh Beckett Black labels, but PSA 10s are king. So like I like each one for different reasons. Um so I hope that they don't. Do you want them to?
SPEAKER_03I I don't necessarily want them to. I do think that there needs to be a second company that emerges uh and starts grading more cards.
SPEAKER_01I think there will be. I think that with uh AI, and I and I honestly, and I I don't like this because I would rather like you know, that's gonna put a lot of people out of jobs, right? But I I do like the fact that AI takes the human element out of it. Most of the time I wouldn't say that. I would want the human element there, but for grading purposes, I mean, you can it's funny. I mean, there's videos out there of a guy, you know, taking the same card and cracking it and resubmitting it 10 different times that it comes back a different grade every time. And it's just it's just crazy because uh there's you know, people are biased, people grade differently. That can be as simple as I don't really like this player, you know, they hit a walk-off home run against my team, so I'm gonna give it a worse grade or something, you know. Um, so I feel like um companies who start using a lot more AI, maybe not completely, but a lot more AI heavy, or maybe even completely, um, it I would almost trust that more. Because it's like if it's saying it's a 10, it's a 10. Like there's no human element of, you know, oh, I don't like that player, you know.
SPEAKER_03I've heard some people say that AI may uh take it to a level that they're too stringent on grading.
SPEAKER_01But also you can program it to be like you can program it with some leniency, I feel like, surely. Like if if the you know 6040 or 5545 centering is what you want it to still be within a 10, you can you can tell it to that, you know, like hey, if it's within these parameters, still give it a 10. You know, I know a lot about AI, so yeah, I've actually like you know, super smart and made my own I AI and stuff, you know.
SPEAKER_03I think you're you're practically AI yourself, right?
SPEAKER_01Just ask me anything. Yeah, you'll see me thinking about it for a second, I'll be like, because I'm just like downloading the information real quick and then I've got the low plan of yeah, I have the low. I don't have the premium membership.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01So um, but anyways. Um is that all you have for hot tanks?
SPEAKER_03That's all I have for hot takes. Do you have a hot tag?
SPEAKER_01No. No hot takes. I have zero hot takes. I feel like I gave all of them away on the last podcast.
SPEAKER_03Well, that's okay. That's we covered quite a bit on that one hot take.
SPEAKER_01I think we did, and plus, I really want to get to our next segment.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Let's get to our next segment.
SPEAKER_01What is what is our next segment?
SPEAKER_03Our next segment. Wavelength.
SPEAKER_01All right, let's get let's get to it. I'm switching, I'm switching legs. My other leg, my foot was about to fall asleep.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Um getting old.
SPEAKER_01Uh not that old. I got I got a little bit of time. Surely. Surely. It's like I'm looking in an old mirror. Do you want to go first or do you want me to?
SPEAKER_03Um I got a number. You got a number? Yeah, I got a number.
SPEAKER_01All right. Let me let me see that number. Let me think of some good questions to ask you. Are you gonna remember your number? Do you need to write it down or will you forget it?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think I can. I got a one in ten chance of remembering it.
SPEAKER_01Okay. All right, all right. Um, let's go grading company.
SPEAKER_03Grading company.
SPEAKER_01Since that's pretty uh topical.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Um let's say golden grading company.
SPEAKER_01Oh man, are they even in business anymore? Would it be cheating if I said give me a grade?
SPEAKER_03Give you a grade. Yeah, don't give me a grade.
SPEAKER_01That would oh man, okay.
SPEAKER_03We could quantify it as a PSA 10 or a golden 10.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so go okay. That's not very good. Um, give me, let's see. I feel like there's a lot of questions I've asked before, and I don't want to re-ask them. Okay. So I'm really trying to think of good questions.
SPEAKER_03Think really hard.
SPEAKER_01I'm thinking really hard. Um, I'm using the the free plan right now. That's why it's taking a minute. Um, let's see. Let's go with let's go with upcoming tops products. I think we've done yeah. Only the upcoming ones. Okay.
SPEAKER_03Would be hard.
SPEAKER_01Let's see. Um that's a hard question. For you, for you. Like it so it could be a product that you don't like. Doesn't mean that everybody else doesn't like it. If it's a low number, just pick like a you know, a sport that you don't like.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Um I don't really know of any products coming out that I don't like. Uh let me let me use uh let me use uh the top's website. So you have the free free plan as well. Yeah. So uh you you can fill in here while you're uh while I'm I was just taking a drink of water. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Because I was parched. I was parched. So I was getting some water. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Where's that calendar really stuck?
SPEAKER_01Uh free playing. You we gotta upgrade, maybe. We gotta upgrade.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay, okay. I got one. I got one.
SPEAKER_01Okay, give me one. Give me one.
SPEAKER_03Topps pristine Premier League.
SPEAKER_01Okay. You don't care about that. Um not that other people don't, but I know you don't care about that. On my personal list, even though I am in like the two range right now. Okay. I'm in the two range. Um, and I'm gonna ask one final question that I feel like I will like that will solidify it for me, okay? Um give me past ten years, a braves player.
SPEAKER_03A braves player. Ten years.
SPEAKER_01In the past ten years.
SPEAKER_03Sam Freeman.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Does that lower it to a one? This is hard.
SPEAKER_03Sam Freeman, man, Sam Freeman. You have no clue who that is, do you?
SPEAKER_01No, I don't know his numbers at all. I don't know his numbers at all.
SPEAKER_03My oldest brother, or not my oldest brother, my oldest son, yeah, listens to our podcast.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03He's supporting dad.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_03And he's he's cranking them numbers up.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_03He's laughing right now. I know he is. Why? When he listens to this.
SPEAKER_01Because of the how how can am I allowed to look at his stats or is that cheating?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you could do that. I'll say, I'll say this. Uh me and my sons, Quentin, Gabriel.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_03Uh, it doesn't matter how long a player has played with the Braves.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03If they played with the Braves, that they've acquired him somehow. Former Brave. That's what we say.
SPEAKER_01Former Brave.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean, he could be like there for five minutes.
SPEAKER_01Wow, career totals are terrible. Career total. Oh.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01But am I going off career?
SPEAKER_03But he's a Braves legend.
SPEAKER_01Am I going off of career?
SPEAKER_03The year he was with the Braves.
SPEAKER_01Okay, just the year he was off the Braves.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you want to read off his stats there?
SPEAKER_01The year where he was with the Braves is pretty good. I mean, he played like twice.
SPEAKER_03So I don't know. He had that stint there.
SPEAKER_01Man, okay.
SPEAKER_03Former Brave.
SPEAKER_01Former Brave. And he he did really good like two times he pitched, it looks like. His career war is 209. Oh, wow. 2.9.
SPEAKER_03Maybe I threw that off. Maybe he's better than my number.
SPEAKER_01Man, I don't know. So for the for the years that he played, um he has a 1,000% win percentage.
SPEAKER_03Oh. So I feel like I just messed wavelength though.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna go three. Three.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Was it three?
SPEAKER_03It was three.
SPEAKER_01Let's go. I got there. It took a minute, but I got there. I had to look up its stats. Was that cheating? The free plan ran out. I couldn't download his stats. You know how it gets to, you know, you've asked too many questions. It's like you gotta upgrade to get more, you know. Yeah. Yeah, I got to that point to look it up and use Safari.
SPEAKER_03I wish I could do that if like people ask me too many questions. You're you're on the free plan and you cannot ask me a question today.
SPEAKER_01That'd be good. That'd be good. Um, do I get to play? Can I play? Yeah. Okay. All right, I've got it.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01And I'm gonna remember it.
SPEAKER_03All right. Um, since you're an Angels fan, I'll ask you uh all-time uh Los Angeles Angel.
SPEAKER_01Man, all time, there's a lot of all time, but I'm gonna go with um I'm gonna say who we were making fun of, how someone pronounced his name a minute ago, and I'm gonna say Zach Neto.
SPEAKER_03I'm thinking a pretty good number then.
SPEAKER_01Okay, you said all-time, so I feel like you he's solid.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. He's got a good start to his career.
SPEAKER_01He does have a good start to his career.
SPEAKER_03Okay. And we we threw in uh fast food chains last week.
SPEAKER_01We did. Let's throw in some other non-sport stuff. I'm fine with that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, okay. I'm fine with that. That's fun. Like all-time uh sports movies.
SPEAKER_01Sports movies.
SPEAKER_03And this could be very objective because I mean you could hate a hate a movie and I love it.
SPEAKER_01I know. There's such a gigantic age gap between us. I just don't know if um which ones you have.
SPEAKER_03You don't remember Bull Durham, do you?
SPEAKER_01Well, okay. Okay, okay. Let me let me lock in for this. I'm gonna say the rookie. I'm gonna say the rookie.
SPEAKER_03The rookie. I honestly don't know if I've seen that movie.
SPEAKER_01Really?
SPEAKER_03The rookie.
SPEAKER_01That's crazy. He's seen it. It's a good movie. What a good movie.
SPEAKER_03Based off of Ricky's reaction, we got a pretty good number.
SPEAKER_01Well, this is personally where I would like it. I mean, maybe if he said it, it might be a 10 or something. I don't know. Okay. I think it's a solid movie. It's a solid movie.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01One being the worst, ten being the best, five being average. I think people's number scales get messed up sometimes. And it's like if you give something a seven, they're like, oh man, that's terrible. It's like if five's average, so that's like really good. You know?
SPEAKER_03I mean, like if you're vintage PSA 8, oh yeah, then you're I mean, that's a good number. That's a really good number. But if you're modern PSA 8, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. That's not very good.
SPEAKER_03Who messed that card up?
SPEAKER_01That's not very good. Yep. All right, you get one more. I think I'm gonna have to lock in. Okay, wait, you gotta tell me where you're feeling. What where are you around right now?
SPEAKER_03I'm feeling about an eight.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Okay.
SPEAKER_03I'm looking at your reaction.
SPEAKER_01No, I'm I'm gonna I I I like knowing where you're at. That way my final answer can pull you up or down, where whichever way I need you to go. So this better be a good one.
SPEAKER_03Non-traditional uh sports, not baseball, basketball, or football.
SPEAKER_01Non-traditional? Oh my goodness, like cards. Yeah, and cards in the hobby bar. Pickleball.
unknownPickleball.
SPEAKER_03Wow, that really threw me off.
SPEAKER_01Where are you feeling now? What do you feel like?
SPEAKER_03First of all, uh I don't think they have pickleball hobby cards.
SPEAKER_01They have leaf.
SPEAKER_03Do they?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And I know that means.
SPEAKER_03You really enjoy them?
SPEAKER_01No, I knew that because we couldn't sell them for forever. They were sitting. Um, so where is pickleball for you? Card wise?
SPEAKER_03Card wise, it would be very low.
SPEAKER_01And then, okay, and so then and you were at eight, and so then if you combine where you were, what does that like average out to?
SPEAKER_03I'm at a four.
SPEAKER_01Average? You think that's where that man.
SPEAKER_03I mean, because pickleball is like very low on the scale.
SPEAKER_01Well, maybe I messed it up with pickleball.
SPEAKER_03What was enough? It was six. Six. Okay. All right.
SPEAKER_01I was trying to I was trying to average it out with pickleball.
SPEAKER_03I'll have to be on the lookout for those PS18 pickleballs.
SPEAKER_01There's some there's some expensive pickleball autos, believe it or not.
SPEAKER_03Really?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Believe it or not. And you want to know how to know that?
SPEAKER_03Choose not to.
SPEAKER_01Because they uh sat on the shelf for so long we eventually just opened them and put them on eBay, the singles, because nobody would buy them. But we had a few that were like a few hundred dollars, which is kind of crazy.
SPEAKER_02That's cool. Yeah. That's cool.
SPEAKER_01So, anyways, I messed up. I got yours though. Yeah, you did. So we did good on yours, did bad on mine. Maybe I gave some bad answers.
SPEAKER_03But hey, thanks. Thanks for doing the podcast again.
SPEAKER_01I do it every time. What do you think? I know. You're just happy I you're happy I'm here?
SPEAKER_03Just happy you're here. Happy we can talk about sports cards and sports and pickleball.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I mean, pickleball is a sport.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it is a sport. It's good to be seen.
SPEAKER_03So uh we'll make this the most awkward handshake ever.
SPEAKER_01And that's it. That is it right there.
SPEAKER_03So you want to thank them too?
SPEAKER_01Uh sure. Okay. Thank y'all for being here. Did I thank them at the beginning?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, well, they deserve a lot of thanks.
SPEAKER_01Should I walk off without a handshake like Wimby?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you should do that.
SPEAKER_01See y'all again.
SPEAKER_03Thanks, everybody. We'll see you next time. Thanks for listening to the Crank It Up Sports Card Podcast. Please subscribe, share, like, follow, but most of all, please enjoy.
