God’s Presence in a Difficult Workplace
Scripture
Isaiah 43:2 — “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you…”
Devotional
Some workplaces feel like deep waters—hostile environments, toxic cultures, constant stress, or leadership that is harsh or unstable. In those settings, it can be easy to feel alone and forgotten. But God’s promise is clear: “I will be with you.”
He doesn’t say you’ll avoid the waters; He says you won’t face them alone. God is present in tense meetings, painful reviews, difficult conversations, and long, exhausting days. He strengthens your heart, guards your tongue, and gives wisdom when you don’t know what to say or do.
His presence doesn’t always change your circumstances immediately, but it changes you within them. You can show patience where others explode, hope where others despair, and peace where others panic. Your anchor is not the stability of your workplace, but the faithfulness of your God.
Reflection Questions
What makes your current workplace feel like “deep waters,” if it does?
How have you seen God sustain you in hard work seasons in the past?
What would it look like to consciously lean on His presence throughout your day?
Prayer
Lord, thank You that I never walk into work alone. Be with me in every challenge I face. Give me courage, wisdom, and peace in difficult situations, and let Your presence sustain me. Amen.
