Making Your Community a Better Place

How can you find ways to gather with others to make your community a better place? As you reflect on the seasons happening in your home, your work, your community, where can you pitch in and be better together. A reading from Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us that there are seasons for everything!
Good morning friends. I hope you're having a great day. It is a cloudy day where I am, but I hope there's some sunshine where you are. Um I wanted today to share a passage from Ecclesiastes chapter three. It says this For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven, a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted, a time to kill, and a time to heal, a time to break down, and a time to build up, a time to weep, and a time to laugh, a time to mourn, and a time to dance, a time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together, a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to seek, and a time to lose, a time to keep, and a time to throw away, a time to tear, and a time to sew, a time to keep silence, and a time to speak, a time to love, and a time to hate, a time for war, and a time for peace. And I thought of this passage this morning because I just drove by a whole group of people that were working together to plant a community garden. And I thought about how much better our community is when we come together, um, whether that's at church or in other ways that we volunteer or other organizations that we're a part of, or whatever that looks like for you, but when we come together with others to make our community a better place. So I'm wondering today, as you're in whatever season of life you're in, and as you're in whatever weather you're in, I know there's been lots of storms, lots of places lately, lots of drought, lots of places lately, um, and there's fires for some of you, and it's just kind of a crazy season and a season where we're all in transition from getting into spring from winter or spring to summer, depending on where you live in the world. But um, I wonder how might you go out today and find a way to work with someone else to make your community a better place? Maybe that's working with someone in your household to make your household a better place. Maybe that's going to your workplace and offering to help a co-worker to make your work a better place. Maybe that's finding a community garden and working together to make the community as a whole more beautiful. I don't know what that is for you today, and I don't know how God will um work in you in that today, but I hope that you know that there is a time for everything, and that there also is God in all seasons. Have a great day, friends. Keep walking. Bye.
