What does it say about your friends if they're too cool for social improv games?

What does it say about your family if they're envious of influencers?

What does it say about you if your social feeds are full of incel memes?

Welcome And Weekly Catch Up

SPEAKER_02

Welcome back to another episode of Catch Up with Kai and Cohen. I'm Ky.

SPEAKER_01

And this is Cohen.

SPEAKER_02

And we're actually recording this kind of close to our last last week's episodes. Hasn't been that many days. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, so it hasn't been a whole lot of time since the last time we went. But you know, we still did some stuff this

Inside A Murder Mystery Party

SPEAKER_02

week. What have you been up to?

SPEAKER_01

So over the weekend, I did murder murder mystery.

SPEAKER_02

What is murder mystery? You don't know what it is. No.

SPEAKER_01

You know, um Is it like a board game? No, no, no. Oh. Like you watch Knives Out, right? Yes. It's basically that. Oh.

SPEAKER_02

So basically like a social game.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Like um in advance, there's like a host who organizes this murder mystery. They assign each person who's involved in the group a role. Like, for example, let's say the murder mystery is about like an auction. Okay. It's like that's the auction setting. And then the host gives a role to every single person involved. For example, it could be like some rich guy, it could be a janitor, you could be like the cook. And then something, a murder happens, which is the mystery. And the whole point of it is there's scenes to find out who the mystery, who the murderer is. So the murderer could be like anyone, like a chef, like a chef could be the murderer or something. Okay. And then you interact with the people who are involved. Hints are given throughout the scenes. The host kind of conveys and relays the Do you get like cards telling you? You get cards, you get like special like traits like you're supposed to act out.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah. Wait, what? Like if you get like an like a mean trait, do you like a weak mean? Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_01

And it's and it's that sounds fun. It's fun only if you like are truly into it. Yeah, like you can't half-ass it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it sounds like like uh you gotta do a fair amount of improv and stuff. Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_01

So like we like I bought like my wife and I went and we were we dressed up and everything. Oh, really? Oh that's sick. Yeah, so it was pretty fun. It was about mine was about what was it about? I kind of forgot to be honest. Oh, do you remember it was about oh it was about in a ski resort. Okay. About like this guy who passed away.

SPEAKER_02

So so everyone that was playing, the premise was you're all at a ski resort.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, okay. And there's some somehow they're all interconnected, but the premise is that the guy died and he left his inheritance behind. And it was and there's a murder. You're trying to figure out the murder. But yeah, super fun experience, which is kind of you would probably not expect that because I'm like pretty timid, right? Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, but I've seen like, you know, I at your wedding you were fairly outgoing, you know. So I know you have it in you, just not all the time.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. It's interesting because um, I think if you play this with our friends, I don't think it'll be fun.

SPEAKER_02

No, dude, because our friends are like too cool for this shit, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01

Well, like too cool. Yeah, exactly. Like their quotes too cool. They're gonna make jokes, they're not gonna be in the world.

SPEAKER_02

They're not gonna take it seriously, they're not gonna play do it in the spirit of the competition or the spirit of the game. It's gonna be more about like trying to make people laugh exactly at like any cost.

SPEAKER_01

Like they're gonna like half-ass it. Yeah. So I think like if it's like that, to be honest, I don't think it'll be fun.

SPEAKER_02

But you definitely need the right friend group for like social games. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So I think like it's because everyone was so into it, like the even the like they decorated the plays like their house as well. So it was it was super cool.

SPEAKER_02

Did you uh did you guys end up winning? What'd you dress up as?

SPEAKER_01

Like a jockey.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, okay. Yeah, uh, what was your wife?

SPEAKER_01

She's a doctor.

SPEAKER_02

Jockey is in like a like horse background. Yeah, equestrian. Okay, cool, cool. Where'd you get did you have to like buy?

SPEAKER_01

Did you go to like buy-well, that was that was hard to find out for four. I just like dressed up really preppy. Okay, just like wearing polos. Yeah. But no, I guess there's no really a winner.

SPEAKER_02

I guess the the winner is if the way did did you like find the killer as a collectively? No, no, no.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, so killer killer got away? Yeah. Damn. And he took the money. Yeah, I guess it's kind of like um mafia.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Except way more intense.

SPEAKER_02

Have you heard the town of Salem? No. It's it's like Mafia, but on the like a computer game version. Yeah, it used to be really popular in COVID. Oh, really? Yeah. Well, I guess like pretty much.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

The only social de I I guess it's called like a social deduction game, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. The one that I have the most experience with is it was called The Resistance, I think. But like very similar to Mafia, basically, where you have like a bunch of killers and a bunch of town and you're trying to find out who the killers are. And bro, those games get intense. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They get fucking intense.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, even mafia gets really intense.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, like people start screaming and yelling, and some people are like not sure if like this is part of the game anymore. They're like gashly mad. And I'm one of those people. Yeah. I'm like, I don't know if you're really upset right now or what's going on.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So that was

How Friend Hangouts Evolve

SPEAKER_01

fun. But that that got me thinking, like, because we've been friends for a while. Like, how do you think our hangouts have changed throughout how we how we aged? Because not only did I play Burner Mystery, I went to like my friend's kid's birthday.

SPEAKER_00

Whoa.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And then I also saw another friend who also had a kid. Damn, everybody kid's birthday's gonna be a big thing.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, like babies and stuff like that. I haven't done any of that so far. Yeah. But how have our hangouts changed? I think um, to be brutally honest, I think a lot of us, myself included, I I guess I won't speak for anyone but myself, but the vibe that I at least have is a lot of us have grown out of things that we used to find fun. And that is like fucking hanging out at a house, drinking, like you think so?

SPEAKER_01

You think that's just you or team chess? You think that's you can say that for everyone.

SPEAKER_02

I know it's for me, but I have a feeling that it's for a lot of other people. Because that's for me. Yeah, yeah. I mean, there you go. I I feel like we're not uh we're not alone in this. And maybe some of us are like trying to still hold on to you know that that stuff. But I think if we just did different stuff, like wow, it's kind of crazy because one of the first episodes that we did, we were talking about how we had this huge hef and group that still hangs out, yeah, and still talks every day and stuff, and then here we go, a couple months later. I feel like that's not it it's not as much like that. Yeah. For sure. And I do feel like things are changing a little bit, but what I was what I was saying is I think we're trying to fit everyone into the same hole, you know?

SPEAKER_01

And that's and that's a bad thing.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think that's a bad thing. I think if if we just tried to do more people in our friend group tried to do different things, maybe with maybe in smaller groups. Yeah, I think uh I think that's the way to go, yeah, to be honest.

SPEAKER_01

I agree. I mean like we're going fucking fishing and camping.

SPEAKER_02

Exactly. I'm super looking forward to that. And I can't remember the last like we we actually so we went to another one of those things, like a general hangout a couple days ago. It was a couple days ago, right? Yeah, was that yesterday?

SPEAKER_01

Uh it was like a few days ago. Yeah, a few days ago. And I mean that was nice, like I was like nice to see people. Like actually, like I don't I don't mind those occasionally. I like I just don't mind because I because we were talking to people, right? Yeah, for me, the biggest thing I mind is just watching television. Yeah, yeah, me too in a group setting.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and I also don't mind like seeing my friends. I love seeing my friends just like that situation. I can't do it very often, you know.

SPEAKER_01

I guess one thing is like, as you say it, what I want is like I'm gonna make memories exactly.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, yes. I would love to like do activities, you know. That's why I've been trying so hard to sorry about talking about volleyball like literally every week, but I've been trying really hard to get friends into volleyball. One thing is like I I've noticed that a lot of our friends are actually, I think, like kind of sedentary in their lifestyle. Really? I think actually, no, that's not true. Yeah, but it's weird because I think they are for most of the year, and then like all of a sudden they're like training for a marathon now, you know. Or I don't know how much they're actually training, but they're running a marathon soon.

SPEAKER_01

No, I would say they actually do work out regularly. Yeah, like maybe there's like uh like a select few who are decently sedentary, but I would say for the most part, yeah, yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Well, actually, I'm also thinking of friends that are not in this specific friend group, like my own friends as well. A lot of my friends are actually sedentary. Uh so I've been like trying to get them into volleyball. Not only to get them out of the house more, but because I love volleyball and I want more people to play with.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But like that's an example of something that I would love to do, and something that, you know, if any of those guys asked me to do that, I would be like, fuck yeah. And I'm sure everyone in the group has something like that, you know. And if someone else asked them to go do that thing with them, they'd be like super excited to do it, as opposed to just defaulting to going to someone's house and drinking and talking about the same old shit, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I agree.

SPEAKER_02

And it's always like the same conversations, too, man. Like, hey, what's been going on with you? How's the work going? Yeah. Like, uh, do you did you do anything

Seeing Friends Become Parents

SPEAKER_02

lately or shit like that? You know, that's true, it is the same. Yeah, it's uh it just feels unfulfilling to me. The conversations feel unfulfilling to me.

SPEAKER_01

I did like uh going to my friends and seeing my friend's kids though. It was it was actually pretty fun. Pretty wholesome, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

What was fun not to sound like an asphalt, I'm just curious, what was fun about it?

SPEAKER_01

Well, my first friend who just had a kid, like like within the past several months, he was nice to catch up for the most part because I knew him since I was like 13. So I knew him for more than half my life. So it was nice seeing that. And I and I don't talk to him that much either, but so but it was nice seeing him catching up and seeing the progress and change, yeah, and also seeing like like the like the values that kind of have changed throughout time for him as well. But yeah, I thought that that was pretty enjoyable.

SPEAKER_02

Have you have you been around um any kids in your family as an adult?

SPEAKER_01

No, no, no, no.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so I have I have a little nephew and he my sister lives in the States, so I don't see him very often. But you know, I I've visited him a couple times and a couple months ago on this Greece trip, he was there too. So uh I've I've been kids around kids like a little kid a little bit, and a couple of years ago, maybe maybe not a couple years ago, but maybe like basically before my nephew was born, I fucking hated kids. Um I still kind of knew it yeah. Yeah, I still kind of don't love kids super much, you know. Okay, but uh but since like meeting my nephew, he's like so sweet, so cute, and it's it's bringing me around on kids. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, what if he wasn't a good kid?

SPEAKER_02

Well, that's what it is. Like, even though he's my nephew, if he wasn't a good kid, I wouldn't like him very much.

SPEAKER_01

Really? Yeah. Damn, that's brutal.

SPEAKER_02

I like good kids. Well, I mean, like, not that I would like dislike him, but you know, I'll be thinking like, I hope you uh grow up a little more nicer, you know.

SPEAKER_01

I see, I see what I mean. That's hard though. That's hard though. Parenting's hard.

SPEAKER_02

Parenting's hard because you could like do all the right things and still parenting things. Things can still go wrong.

Instagram Feeds Violence And Incel Memes

SPEAKER_02

You're a you're a bit of a scroller on Instagram, hey? Yeah. Yeah. So what if you don't mind me asking, what kind of stuff do you get on your feed? Let me see. Okay. I'll check this right now. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Do you go on Instagram?

SPEAKER_02

No, so actually, I think I've mentioned this a couple times, but basically like 2015, I kind of stopped using Instagram altogether. Yeah. When I say I stopped using Instagram, it's like I've deleted my accounts, but then like sometimes I'll have like create another account uh because friends will be like, oh, I need to talk to you about this. And I'm like not on most social or pretty much any social media. Yeah. And so so, anyways, this time I had to reactivate my account to contact to be in contact with my volleyball team because apparently that's like Instagram's like the only messenger in common that we have. So I've been using Instagram on my PC, not my phone, still don't have it on my phone.

SPEAKER_01

You can use Instagram on your PC, yeah. Just like the Instagram website you can. You want it reels on PC? I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Oh well, actually, yeah, because it plays videos on my homepage, so I'm sure like reels is the same thing.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_02

But I bring this up because since I haven't been using Instagram for a long time, I basically have I kind of have like a fresh account on Instagram, you know. Even though I have like I'm following all my friends and they're following me, so there's like a bit of history of like my my activity on Instagram for the most part is kind of like an a fresh account. And so I still don't scroll on Instagram or anything. Yeah, but when I do go to the Instagram website on the home page, it still shows me like one thing, you know, the top post before I'm able to click on the messenger to start typing.

SPEAKER_01

And I've been noticing that what's your what's your what's your explore page look like? Like what's your normal feed and like reading?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so so just like this. So I've been noticing that my my algorithm or whatever, the my feed, my explore page, I'm getting a bunch of like first of all, violent stuff, like tons of violent stuff, like videos, like what kind of violence? Like like street fights and stuff. Uh-huh. Like people getting fucking laid out on the street, a bunch of US UFC fights. But that's because you like UFC. Yeah, but like, no, I don't even like UFC anymore. You know, yeah, I I stopped.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe that's why though, because you stopped using Instagram back when you were into UFC.

SPEAKER_02

No, I don't think I was using Instagram even back then. Oh, interesting. Yeah, but so it's giving me a lot of fight videos, and also not just that, like, I don't like the violent videos anyways. I don't really want to see that shit anymore. Even back then, I was like, I liked UFC because it was like a controlled environment, you know? And there was like two consenting adults, and uh I have different feelings about it now, but anyways, yeah, these like street fight videos and people getting fucked up. Like, I don't like seeing that shit. But my my homepage, like almost every time I I go on Instagram now to check out my group chat, my blah blah blah group chat. I see it's like a fucking violent ass video of like some dude getting fucked up. And not only that, the other thing that I've been seeing always on my fucking Instagram feed is like crazy incel memes. Like, what's an example? An example, it'll always be something like like just like a woman doing something like shitty. Oh, it's like a situation, yeah. I think so. Or not like a woman doing something shitty, but a woman like painted as doing like an imaginary scenario of a woman doing something shitty, you know? Like getting mad at getting upset.

SPEAKER_01

Like they're not actually doing anything shitty. Yeah, yeah. It's just like a meme. Like like basically they're blaming the girls. Exactly. Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, like I'm getting like tons of incel memes and fucking violent shit on Instagram now. And I'm just wondering, like, why does Instagram think I'm I'm a violent incel? But it has to be because I'm I'm guessing this is like the kind of shit that they push to like like fresh accounts, like accounts that don't think so? I think so. Because why else would why does Instagram think I'm do you think I'm a violent income?

SPEAKER_01

I mean, no, no, no, no, no. But then like it's like been proven that Instagram sometimes listens to the keywords. So maybe you like you talk about incels to people. I don't know. I mean, not that you're saying it's but maybe you talk have you had conversations. I don't even think so.

SPEAKER_02

Because like when there's like when someone says like incel shed, I'm pretty quick to like shut it down. That's true, you are, yeah. Yeah. So I'm really confused why my my entire Instagram feed is now now this stuff, and the only conclusion that I can come to is I feel like Instagram just pushes this stuff to like fresh accounts, like fresh male accounts. Interesting.

SPEAKER_01

Because I've I've started fresh accounts before. For me, I've only gone like nature stuff. So that's very interesting.

SPEAKER_02

But maybe because maybe it's like somehow linking your fresh accounts to like other accounts we've made.

SPEAKER_01

No, this is be like I like erase a phone all content on settings. I go on a VPN to make sure there's no way it's connected to mine as like a trial and error to see what experiment is like, but that's what I got. I mean, mine right now it's like it's like Beyblade and a lot of Korean content, like like reels that are in Korean.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I see things about like ADHD, like top 10 universities in the world, some anime memes here and there.

SPEAKER_02

Seems pretty normal, you know? Yeah, golf. But yeah, so when I wasn't on social media all this time, I actually was using Twitter.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Like in the late 2010s, yeah. Early 2020s, I guess, like around COVID time. Yeah, around COVID time it was basically when I used started using a lot of Twitter. And so, like, if you look at my Twitter feed, because Twitter also has a feed, yeah, yeah, yeah. Similar to Instagram, I bet if I like go back and log into my Twitter right now and check out my Twitter feed, you're just gonna see like videos of cats and stuff. Interesting.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because like that's the kind of shit I usually look at. Mine's the exact opposite. Really? Twitter feed's fucked.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I don't know what it's like now because I stopped using Twitter like when the Elon Musk bullshit started happening.

SPEAKER_01

There's like so much like AI fake stuff, like fake news created by AI. Yeah, there's and yeah, it's so much of that.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, Twitter is Twitter is terrible. Yeah, Twitter is fucking horrible. I don't use it at at at all anymore, but my friends will like send me memes, so then when I click them, it'll send me send me to Twitter. And the comment section on like any tweet is always the most degenerate bullshit ever, dude.

SPEAKER_01

I would say Twitter has the worst comment section. Twitter's like, dude, Twitter's like straight up 4chan. Like like Instagram, like it's actually funny sometimes, like the top comments um and TikTok as well. But Twitter is just like downright horrible. Like I never go on like TikTok. I mean like Twitter, Twitter comments and stuff like that.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, actually, TikTok seems kind of crazy to me. I've seen screenshots of comments from TikTok and it's like kids just being like so fucking mean, so fucking racist. Like well, I haven't seen those. Oh, okay. Maybe I'm maybe I'm getting like rage-batted or something. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, I just I just thought it was super, super strange that Well, do you like do you follow anyone on your Instagram? Like any pages, like no no no. Not friends, like, but like like any, oh, interesting.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe like, maybe like I follow like some athletes here and there. Huh. But that's about it. Yeah, it's just my friends and like athletes. I don't follow like UFC or anything like that. And you know what? Maybe you could say like, yeah, it it like connected something to me watching me being a UFC fan like years ago, and that's why it's giving me like this like violent content. But where does the incel stuff come from? Like, what the fuck? I think I'm like nice to women.

SPEAKER_01

No, you are, yeah. Yeah, but why is it giving me all this incel stuff? Interesting. Actually, you're the opposite of of an incel.

SPEAKER_02

That's what I thought, that's what I thought so too.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, but but speaking of um social media, so I was over the weekend, I had dinner with my

Envy And Reality Of Influencers

SPEAKER_01

family.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And my like one of my family members, not in my nuclear family, made comments about like influencers, right? They're basically like kind of shitting on them.

SPEAKER_02

I see. And like all kinds of influencers.

SPEAKER_01

No, like select, like, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Like, were they dogging on us?

SPEAKER_01

No, no, no. No, wait, we're not influencers, yeah. But like, yeah, people with like a few million or one million subscribers saying that. Yeah. And then I thought it was out of envy.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like, because they make a lot of money, you know, like 30 ads and everything.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So then, like, for you growing up or even up until now, were you ever envious of that stuff? Because nowadays we see that like being an influencer, being a social media celebrity is like kids' top 10 voted jobs. Like, yeah, they want to be that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Have you ever been like envious of that or wanted to be that because of like, oh, it's so easy to make money and stuff like that?

SPEAKER_02

Well, I mean, I think I am envious of an easy life for sure. But as yeah, but who isn't? Yeah, exactly. Who isn't? Yeah. But as someone that has like tried streaming and make and like making video content and stuff, it it's not an easy job, especially streaming specifically. I know it's like not like labor intensive or anything like that, but I think streaming is a fairly, fairly difficult job having to produce like unique content almost every single day. I think it's really difficult and being like on camera like eight hours a day. It's speaking from experience, it's so hard to be yourself. I mean, I even have trouble being myself just on the mic, you know. I think I think I have a much easier time talking to someone without a mic in my face and have adding like a webcam to that, and like also on top of that, you're like performing as you're streaming. I think it's super difficult. And once I learned that how difficult it is, kind of drop that that envy got less for sure because you know I realized like it's not so free. There's I'm sure like once you get to a certain point, it it becomes free. Like eventually you become like too big to fail, you know?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Outside of like doing something catastrophic to end your career. But I think like getting there is quite difficult.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think that's similar for me too. Like, I'm obviously envious of like the the freedom, I would say. Like, not necessarily like the the work that influencers do, but like the freedom they get from the money that they're making. Like I'm definitely like you know me, I would I'm like the exact opposite of someone who'd be like having my face show and be like a server and stuff like that. But I can definitely get like it can be difficult, but at the same time, I can see why people say it's like very easy because their their argument is that oh, you're not working towards like a degree, you're not putting in like the discipline, but in their view, the influencers' view, they are actually putting in that discipline hard work to build up something from nothing.

SPEAKER_02

But yeah, exactly. And like to push back against the perspective of the person saying that since you're not working towards a degree, you're not working. Well, you know, the education system that we live in is just like one metric of evaluating someone. Yeah. You know, you can you can develop all kinds of skills that are outside of of school, and something specifically like being a successful influencer or being a successful streamer or or YouTube creator, you know, you can't exactly go to school for this kind of stuff. It is something that you do outside of school. And I don't think it's super fair to like shit on this skill.

SPEAKER_01

You know, yeah, because it does it does take skill.

SPEAKER_02

It does. It's it's a lot of practice, it's a lot of trial and error, and some people get super lucky, and you know, that's just how the world works. People get lucky in everything. Yeah, people get unlucky in everything.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But a lot of people, a lot of influencers, they've like honed their craft. I mean, I think I think it's different when it's like well, I don't even know if it's different, but I was gonna say maybe it's a little different when you're like an Instagram poster rather than like a video creator, because it seems like a little l low effort to for for the people that are like, you know, advertising certain pro like just advertising products on Instagram and then traveling and doing like whatever the fuck. That seems a little bit easier than something like streaming or or video making.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, for sure.

SPEAKER_02

But I think those streamers and video makers do have it do have a tough job cut out for them.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, no, I am.

SPEAKER_02

And I and I think they are skillful in what they do. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

A lot of them at least. Yeah. I am envious though.

SPEAKER_02

You are? Yeah, it's I mean it's hard not to be, you know. How could you not with wish for like a super easy life?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that but that's why social media is bad, yeah. yourself.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. But it's also like we are totally unaware of the whatever struggles that they may have. That's true. I feel like it's so common or unsurprising to see like an influencer like fucking ruin their life. You know?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And I I imagine a lot of that is probably because of having to deal with like stress.

SPEAKER_01

I mean yeah, because um I guess I was like technically a micro. Yeah. But not really like an influence, but like not really an influencer, but you were social media music kind of thing. I was fucking stressing out when like my numbers are going down. Yeah. And I could see that happening with like the current social media influencers. And even like the ones that we would watch growing up like a lot of them they like died out. Yeah. They're like they're like irrelevant.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah found something else. Their their content stopped doing as well.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah exactly. Like they're not making that money like they used to. So the longevity isn't even that long unless you're like Mr. Beast, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_02

Like yeah I mean the only guy that's like still doing it from the well not the only guy. There's tons of guys but the one that that comes to mind for me is like PewDiePie. So it's been like around for so fucking long and his content has obviously changed tons. Like like a couple months ago I saw I had I don't watch like PewDiePie regularly but I s every now and then if a if an interesting video pops up right and I saw a few months ago or maybe this was like a year ago or something he was like learning how to draw you know from from scratch and he recorded his experience of like day zero up until like I forget exactly how many days he was but yeah it was if he like got super good. But anyways I'll just say like an an example of someone that started out doing something like super super unique at the time and now transitioned into something completely different. Yeah yeah well that guy's just chilling now. Yeah I mean dude like that's that's someone I'm envious of yeah he seems like he's like truly made it and you know PewDiePie has put in the work you know this is definitely someone that is very skillful at what he does. But yeah I'm envious of his position but I'm definitely not envious of like the hard work he had to put in and probably the shit he got too yeah tons of shit yeah like you gotta have like a a mental of steel to be the number one subscribed youtuber and not turn out crazy.

SPEAKER_01

You

World Cup Takes And Rigging Theories

SPEAKER_01

know what else the World Cup's still going on so oh yeah I I heard France lost today.

SPEAKER_02

Yes France lost to Spain and there were like heavy contenders right yeah yeah I I uh I was sad about it and I didn't expect to be sad about it but I think I realized at some point over the past week I do have like a system of like ranking I don't know if I brought this up on the last episode but I do have somewhat of a ranking of like choosing teams to support yeah so I always choose like I'll I'll always support like Team Canada and Team Canada players. Yeah. But then up until oh wait I did I did explain it?

SPEAKER_01

I mean you didn't give me a ranking you just told me who you support when you didn't give it like a specific rank. Oh well who did I say I supported you said Canada and then you said you liked England. Oh okay I guess I do explain it all then well that's it though.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah oh but there was one thing I said that and this really bothered me because I knew I was wrong when I did say it. We were talking about our favorite player and you brought up Ronaldinho. Yeah and I was talking and I said he played with Messi and Suarez which was actually wrong. He he he he did play with Messi yeah I remember that yeah and they were like super legendary duo they started all the tikitaca stuff and made it big and it was actually Messi Suarez and Neymar that played together also on Barça. But that was a little correction I wanted to make it really bothered me I don't know why but anyways and so in the World Cup yeah fucking France lost and something seemed off they weren't they weren't I mean I'm not like super knowledgeable at soccer to be honest. I I'm pretty much a layman average Joe at this point. But yeah something seemed off about France and and they fucking lost man Spain looks super good. Did you say it was rigged? No I don't think this one's rigged I think some matches are rigged yeah make no mistake I actually think some matches are fucking rigged like I think you know I did you watch the World Cup last year? Argentina versus last year? Or no sorry the last one. Yeah there was an Argentina versus Netherlands match. No I haven't watched that one. Bro that matches looks very rigged. Really? Yeah looks extremely rigged.

SPEAKER_01

But who's rigging these matches? Well FIFA. Why would FIFA rig rig these matches?

SPEAKER_02

So it seems like there's like these super well not seems like there are these like major superstars in soccer like Messi and Ronaldo and Mbappe and Kane you know these fan favorites with Messi and Ronaldo being the biggest of the biggest and Messi's probably like the those two probably make so much money for FIFA so it makes sense that they would want them in the finals. Especially someone like as legendary as Messi I think most people are in consensus that this guy is the greatest soccer player of all time and I mean for the for last World Cup it definitely seemed like they wanted Messi to get a victory. Yeah. And I I actually I also was uh since we had a conversation about World Cup being rigged a couple days ago I I got curious about it you know so I started reading into it and the last World Cup it was it was in Qatar right yeah yeah and it was the first world cup in Qatar and the public perception of Qatar Qatar has never really been amazing. So I read an opinion that that part of the reason why there was such a big push to try to get Argentina and Messi to win in the Qatar World Cup was to be like as part of like sport washing Qatar or like same washing Qatar you know what I mean? No. Like what is what is that like have it have since the per public opinion the global opinion of Qatar is not amazing you have a legendary figure like Messi win the World Cup in Qatar and that becomes the Messi World Cup and all of a sudden people stop thinking about the bad stuff and just associate the Qatar World Cup with the one that Messi won so Qatar is like a super totally unrelated back to back to the fucking topic. France got eliminated and tomorrow we've got actually no a lot of a lot of stuff has happened in the World Cup since uh the last episode when one of them being my my fucking homie Switzerland got eliminated oh yeah unfortunately it's it's the last time I'll hear I think it's called Fruit from Desire by Gala on the broadcast but I've been like bumping that song all the time nowadays. So good. And I wanted to ask if you remember because we were talking about Ronaldinho if you remember these old Nike football ads did you did you ever see any of those as a kid I saw one by Ronaldinho. Yeah there's I used to watch so many of those and dude I think I feel like those were those commercials were so important in like making these legends for us.

SPEAKER_01

Where would you watch them?

SPEAKER_02

On TV and YouTube.

SPEAKER_01

Mine was mainly YouTube. I don't think I ever saw one on on TV actually.

SPEAKER_02

Now that you mentioned it maybe I didn't see it. Mine was definitely on YouTube or sorry as a as a kid growing up. Yeah I think now that you mentioned it maybe I didn't see it on TV and it was more on YouTube but uh there's this one that's like it has like all of the well actually a lot of them have all the famous players on it but there's one that's like Nike make your dream or something like that. And it goes through like every player gets like a chance to do something cool and I remember there's one of like there's like Wayne Rooney's little thing in the Yeah I don't I don't remember to be honest.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah the only thing I remember is Ronaldinho.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah Ronaldinho was in that commercial too where he's like doing like his thing yeah yeah he's just dribbling yeah he's dribbling and then they all have like a vision of the future and Ronaldinho sees himself on like some game show or something or some dance show. But yeah I was just thinking about these old Nike ads and I feel like they were so important in making these figures like important for us.

SPEAKER_01

What figures?

SPEAKER_02

Like like these famous guys like like Ronaldinho and like Beckham and oh like you were saying the ads made them yeah yeah yeah these ads like yeah I think so because it it just looks so cool back then. You don't think it was their skill and like the sensation of course that definitely plays a part in it but everyone's you know all professional soccer players are super skilled at soccer.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah but then nowadays like the how do you like ad how do you think they get famous then I think they are pushed by by m ads?

SPEAKER_02

By teams and by FIFA yeah I I think it I think this goes on in like all sports you know but yeah interesting yeah no I can't really comment to be honest.

SPEAKER_01

The only thing I remember is one the the one with Ronaldinho but other than that yeah I was like I wasn't like really too into soccer going up. Not at all to be honest. So even now the World Cup I just got like updates here and there from what I what I read and what I hear but yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Are you planning on watching the finals?

SPEAKER_01

Probably probably that one I'll watch yeah so what do you think the finals will be I'm hoping that it's uh it's England.

SPEAKER_02

I'm hoping England beats Argentina did you just say England won't win though yeah I don't think England's gonna win but I hope they can beat Argentina to block the chance of Argentina being a double winner. So it's gonna be England versus Spain you think I I hope so but I don't think England's beating Spain. Oh really?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah I think not the finals.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah yeah I don't think England's beating Spain in the final yeah even if they beat Argentina I think Spain's gonna beat England.

SPEAKER_01

Why is why is Spain so good?

SPEAKER_02

They just have a really good slow controlled possession style of gameplay that everyone's kind of been trying to copy for the past year from what I can tell. Speaking as someone that is not an expert someone that's just been following pretty heavily for the past month but just the past month it seems like yeah just Spain has this really good possession possession style that is uh working really well against everyone else and France kind of crumbled today not sure exactly what it was like they didn't play well yeah it seems like all the players were just kind of off you know usually you expect like a player to be off or like you know everyone's like you need you wouldn't expect to for an entire team to seem like they're just so off their game making a bunch of mistakes but that's what it really felt like today for France yeah I mean they let they let one goal go it kind of out of nowhere and once that happened they seemed it seemed like France the French players the French squad kind of woke up a little bit but not really and then they got another goal scored against them and then even a third goal scored against them but that was on that one was offside. But yeah they just they fucking lost two zero it was very surprising how hard do you think these players try for the World Cup do you think they're like like oh I'm set already I'm gonna go fuck I can do whatever I want versus people who are like you know I'm I'm fucking dialed in I gotta I gotta give them my all I gotta give 500% it's a good question because I think your national pride is going to be the thing that like drives you the most in the World Cup because you the people on your team like you kind of can't pick you know compared to like club soccer in club soccer they'll like just import the best players of the world. Trying to make the best team possible but for example the Norway team Erling Holland is a very famous player but you know the rest of the squad of the Norway team is not quite at the level of Holland and the the rest of the players who did they lose to England? Oh who Norway. Yeah they lost to England yeah and you know England's just it unfortunately just has better players in their in their league so the national team and the national team for England ends up being better. So I think because of that I think the people that are like really good players but not but don't have like great national players around them it's it's probably a little hard to take the World Cup super super seriously you know but then for a team like Spain where their national players are amazing Spain probably takes the World Cup super seriously and same with France you know because they have the like you expect them to win they have the good players.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah okay what about in like not just the big World Cup tournaments tournaments for example let's say like in the normal season they play like a game how much do you think how much what proportion of players do you think are like ah fuck this like I'm baking I'm making bank ready I don't like a fuck about this game versus people who are like they know they're at a disadvantaged position based on like the team the management but they just try to give it their all like 500% because they want truly want to excel and truly want to give it all to achieve anything that they could can possibly can.

SPEAKER_02

I think there's probably very few people like that but I think there's probably a lot of people that are giving it like 98% you know yeah okay yeah 98. Yeah like they're a most people just an arbitrary I mean like they're professional athletes at the top of their game you know in B that's true.

SPEAKER_01

I guess to be at that point you need that kind of mindset to be there in the first hollow ass to get there.

SPEAKER_02

But in terms of like people that are like so fucking dialed in it's probably just going to be like a couple of guys you know like like someone like like Kobe. Yeah yeah exactly like someone like like MJ and Kobe and LeBron and Messi and Ronaldo like it's probably just those guys that are like living breathing sleeping soccer or football. Like Wotani yeah yeah exactly compared to everyone else is probably like trying really fucking hard because they like want to make more money get on a better team yeah but at the same time they're probably not like playing like their life depends on it. Compared to like something like maybe like Messi when he was like 19 20 years old he probably was playing like his life depends on it.

SPEAKER_01

You know yeah probably and yeah and that's how he probably got to this point.

SPEAKER_02

Exactly yeah he like had it in him dude I've been watching so many like sports leagues lately.

UFC Nostalgia And McGregor Rant

SPEAKER_02

I've been so I brought up UFC earlier and it's funny because there was a UFC that happened recently yeah I didn't watch it but it was like a it was like the grandpa's UFC. Wait what what does that even mean it's like the it was like all of the the big guys like superstars from like fucking 15 years ago 15 years ago? Yeah yeah like all the people that I'm used to were fighting on this UFC card and so I mentioned in the past one of my favorite or my favorite fighter of all time was GSP George St. Pierre yeah I remember is uh yeah he's a guy from Quebec and he's retired now but my second favorite guy is a guy from Australia his name is fucking why am I blanking on his name now? Oh Robert Whitaker right yeah so my second favorite guy is uh Robert Whitaker his nickname is Bobby Knuckles Bobby Knuckles damn that's kind of hard actually it's pretty funny he's actually he's a super nice guy yeah which is why I'm a fan I'm a fan of GSP as well because he's a very respectful very kind person yeah and like soft spoken like not an not an asshole at all very very much a sportsman and Robert Whitaker slash Bobby Knuckles also very much like him very respectful like and seems like a very nice guy and that's why I'm a fan and so he yeah I don't know if this was like a comeback fight because I haven't watched UFC in so long but he was fighting on this card and it seemed kind of like a oh no he was moving up a weight class yeah you fucking beasted he got the win but who'd he fight against I don't even remember because I didn't watch the I didn't watch the fights I just looked at the I noticed the highlights so I was like might as well check it out.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah well then it was good it was fun I don't remember but he won.

SPEAKER_02

So hell yeah that's my guy you know I'm glad he won and I'm sure you know Connor McGregor. Yeah so he also came back. But he's not even that old yeah I don't know how old he is I think it's been five years since his last fight. Yeah that's is that old I don't know is that old for you I don't think it was like an age thing for him I think it was just like since he was like out boxing or whatever the fuck he was doing for a while. But yeah he also had his comeback fight and something went terrible for him. Oh really he got speed not really no he didn't he didn't get his ass beat but it seemed like he blew his knee out like within the first like within the first like 10 seconds like as an injury like he got kicked and he got no no no so he like so it seems like he was already injured going into the fight like his knee was already compromised and so as like a last ditch effort he like started the fight out with like a flying leg kick and then like he basically just couldn't stand on his leg at all after that like he like threw it he was definitely already injured. Yeah but yeah it was like the main event for the fight and apparently a lot of people were like super excited for it and the fight had to be stopped within like 60 seconds because uh this fucking guy couldn't stand up anymore.

SPEAKER_01

Do you think is he even relevant Con McGregor?

SPEAKER_02

I don't know man the guy's a fucking loser when you yeah yeah you know when he was at his peak do you think he was like actually great because back then like this is when you're like like watching UFC yeah so I I started watching you I was already watching UFC up until that point and when he was a 145 pounder he was actually incredible like he was like the best like the best yeah ever you he it's hard to say because after he moved because he didn't lose to anyone at 145 or no did he lose at 145 no I don't think he did no he didn't lose at 145 a single time I'm pretty sure yes he beat no one became the champion at 145 and then moved up a weight class right so we never got to see him like was that his downfall like moving up the weight class no because even once he moved up the weight class his his best fight of all time was against this guy named Eddie Alvarez yeah and it was Connor's first fight at 155 if I remember correctly and it was for the title because Connor was such a such a famous guy at that point. They just gave him a title shot because he was like the the biggest name ever in the UFC. Yeah and that was his like greatest performance he moved up in yeah he moved up in weight class I'm sure you've seen like some clips I definitely watched it because I probably watched it with you oh yeah yeah we were watching uh UFC like all of us friends at at the time yeah yeah yeah I don't know if you remember there's like a famous like little clip of Connor like barely dodging a punch a couple punches and just like knocking the guy out. Yeah that's like that fight. Yeah and yeah he had like an amazing performance but then ever ever since that basically it was it was like when he moved to boxing he just became shit pretty much yeah changed his game up too much but yeah I just brought it up because but I heard allegedly he's not a good person right no not a good person at all he's a he's a fucking terrible guy and I say this because I say this now because you know I was a fan of Connor and since I was a since I was a fan of Connor in the past I feel like it's only right that as much fandom as I put into him now I put the same amount of hatred you know and then shame him. So fuck that guy fucking loser. Hope this shit happens to him every single time he tries to do something hope you blow your knee out you fucking bitch. And yeah. Damn

Getting Into Formula One Fandom

SPEAKER_02

another another thing I've been really into lately is I got into Formula One last year.

SPEAKER_01

I got I got into Formula One last year as well.

SPEAKER_02

Oh really have you like from from Drive to survive survive yeah it was actually me too fuck it's so good. Yeah yeah it is so good but I actually really enjoy F1 as a whole do you ever watch like any of the races? I've seen clips.

SPEAKER_01

Oh okay do you have a favorite driver? Right yeah right now it's like it's Kimmy oh really dang no and then I like um Alex Labon He seems like a very chill guy.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah he does seem like a very chill guy my my favorite also seems like a very very chill guy I don't know if you know his name is Oscar Piastri.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah yeah oh you like you like Oscar Piastri.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah Marian McLaren hat right now actually you are yeah oh wait wait really what do you like him?

SPEAKER_01

He just seems like a nice guy hmm he kind of seems like kind of seems bratty to be honest.

SPEAKER_02

You think so?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah I don't know just seems like a chill guy to be you know it seems uh to be honest like most of the guys seem pretty chill except for Max you think so I mean he's my second favorite driver like he's like Max was very intense dude he's like he's like the the faker of F1 you think so no it's not it's not Lewis Hamilton.

SPEAKER_02

No I mean it probably is Lewis Hamilton. I'm not I'm not even a Lewis Hamilton fan oh me neither I actually don't really like him to be honest. Actually I'll I always call him L Diddy L Diddy why because there's like a bunch of pictures of him with Diddy oh really yeah he was at those diddy parties and oh he's fucking dating Kim Kardashian like what are you doing bro I mean that's like whatever.

SPEAKER_01

Is it I mean you can date whatever you want.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah but it it yeah you know what you're right I'll speak on the relationship it's it's not like I know that much about them anyways. But yeah I've been watching F1 a lot and there was uh British Grand Pew yeah what do you think watching F1 in person would be actually enjoyable in person? I don't know because I was thinking about it right yeah they fucking zoom by yeah exactly so I've I've read about it I actually watched some YouTube videos about this people like saying what their experience at an F1 event is like because I was actually gonna go to there's an F1 yeah there's F1 in Montreal every year and I was gonna go to that this year. Unfortunately plans fell through but so I was like looking up exactly what it's like and seems like a a lot of your enjoyment is going to depend on where you are you know like where your seats are really but even then like say you're at the optimal street you're you're watching them zoom by in like a 0.1 second. Yeah so you do have like screens yeah there are screens around the track yeah like big screens that you can see the action from but yeah exactly so like apparently the most optimal like area would be somewhere where it's like a turn so the cars have to like slow down you know like the best place is like a hairpin turn so you see them coming in and then you also see them going out. Yeah I'd I would like to experience it.

SPEAKER_01

We should go next year.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah yeah yeah I I mean there's still a couple like there's some in America but not the but yeah I don't want to go to America I don't want to go with America either but I'm down to go Montreal GP next year. Like you're rooting for Oscar Piastri to to win.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah to McLaren to win.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah I mean I don't expect him to win at all you're not confusing Oscar with Lando are you? No no okay I I I also don't like Lando I don't like though but uh I like Oscar he seems like a really chill guy yeah I mean he's definitely he's definitely she's way more like way more way more chill than Lando for sure but even that I mean maybe I just don't like McLaren in general yeah yeah but I've been I've been rooting for Oscar and he uh didn't do so hot Silverstone I think well Kimi's doing super well yeah oh I actually also like um Carlos Sainz yeah I like Carlos Sainz damn but you like both are they both Williams Albon and Sainz they are right yeah yeah so you like both the Williams drawers eh yeah let's go Williams yeah I just like Oscar and and Max really and I love making fun of George Russell. Oh you you like George Russell? No I like making fun of him oh oh yeah my my wife's favorite is George Russell no way dude I love making yeah just making fun of George Russell like what like what about him dude he's the biggest baby every yeah it's so funny I've seen so many compilations of like George Russell turning it to people and then complaining like he causes a crash and then he starts complaining saying that oh this guy turned into me so many fucking funny George Russell memes especially this year with George basically being gifted the WDC and um out of nowhere just losing it to Kimmy. Yeah see so many memes about like losing to a teenager.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah I'm so excited to see the new season because I think within the interaction with Kimmy and George.

SPEAKER_02

Dude we're gonna have to wait until like like February.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah but yeah but Drive to survive I think it's like the best store like sports doc you series. Like I I I actually watched a pretty like decent amount and I think Drive to survive is is really up there.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah me too. Yeah I'm pretty sure Drive to for I've Is like what gave F1 this massive boom around. Actually, yeah, I mean I didn't tell Draft Survive. Yeah, exactly. Same here. I mean, I knew about F1 because my dad used to watch F1. Oh, really? Yeah, he was a shoemaker fan. I don't even know what that is. Oh, yeah, Michael Schumacher. He was a driver for Ferrari. A lot of people consider him to be the GOAT. Yeah, my dad was a shoemaker fan, but he wasn't like he liked stopped watching it after a while. But yeah, I knew what F1 was, but I never really watched it. Because I actually, as a kid, I played a lot of racing games. Like my favorite one is being like Need for Speed Underground 2. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I play a lot of Need for Speed.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, like the car I have right now is from the box art of Needs for Speed Underground 2. Is it actually? Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I know.

SPEAKER_02

That was the first time I placed like I saw my car. Because I played that for the PS2. Maybe not. I'm pretty sure it's on the box art. Maybe it's Underground 1 instead of Underground 2. Like with Nas, right? Yes. Yeah, yeah. Yes. Yeah. So that's where I saw like my car. And I was like, oh, dude, I want to buy this car when I was a kid. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then when I got older, well, I ended up buying it. I shouldn't choose this car. I wanted another car instead. But I ended up getting this one. So it's funny how that worked out. But anyway, since I was like really into cars back then and like into racing, I really loved the look of like a sports car, you know, and like a supercar. But then you look at an F1 car, it looks very different. I thought I thought they looked very ugly. And to be honest, even now, I think like a sports car or a supercar looks way cooler. Oh, me too. Than like an F1 car. Yeah. So that was the reason I didn't really watch F1 as a kid. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like I know I actually know nothing about cars in general.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. To be honest, I don't know very much either. I know like I don't know how to change my tire and how to like do the basic stuff other than lap, but like yeah, the only stuff that I know about my car is stuff that like I have problems with my car and then I ended up having to like deciding to fit learn how to fix it myself. But yeah. Yeah, excited for the rest of the F1 season. Hope uh, I mean, it my driver's definitely not winning the championship. I think Oscar is ranked like I think he was fourth for a while, but I don't I don't I think he's like super far behind the Ferrari guys and the and Mercedes guys. Mercedes, yeah. Unfortunately. I mean it's good for you. Not so good for me. These two left? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, okay. So I saw some interesting bit of news lately.

Why Anime Live Action Fails

SPEAKER_02

I'm sure you'll be excited about this. I don't know if you've heard of this, but there's actually a Naruto live action movie.

SPEAKER_01

I think it's a movie, right? I don't think I'll be interested. Like really, because I I I hate I hate anime live action adaptations.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, me too. I I personally hate live action adaptations as well. But you liked the One Piece one, didn't you? No, I fucking hated it. Oh, really? Yeah, dude. So many people have told me that like the the fucking live action One Piece is like fantastic.

SPEAKER_01

No, like I hear it all the time. Oh yeah, it's a good adaptation. Like, no, like One Piece is too way too like goofy for it to be like live action adapted. And I don't think the original is good. I mean the adaptation is good.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, more supporting evidence for the claim that I've been making where like people are fans of a series, and then they'll just give it I think I think so for One Piece. Yeah, yeah, they'll just give like a high rating to another form of the same series.

SPEAKER_01

Like to be fair, like it does state pretty decently true to the plot, the One Piece adaptation. My biggest problem is that I feel like the CGI or that the effects are not advanced enough to match it to really look like One Piece.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, yeah, like I can't ever imagine a fight scene in like a movie or live action being able to like being able to make it look as cool as in like an anime.

SPEAKER_01

Like, come on, like they like fucking purple hair in the like look nice, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_02

Like the cool shots that look cool in anime for the most part just look fucking lame and yeah, like for example, just imagine how Naruto would be like the nine tails.

SPEAKER_01

It's gonna be a little bit more. Like some blonde guys, like soccer with the pink hair, and they're doing like weird, weird stuff. Like, no, I don't think it's gonna work out. The only thing, the only adaptations that I think it'll be good if it's like based on reality and like modern society, to be honest.

SPEAKER_02

Like old society is Naruto in the modern world. But I don't yeah, but I think that'd be way clear, though. That'll be terrible.

SPEAKER_01

I think the only I think one of the only series that could have been like a really good adaptation was like Death Note, but they ruined it.

SPEAKER_02

You know, there could be like good adaptations for shows like Psychopaths. Have you seen Psychopaths?

SPEAKER_01

I'll actually Psychopaths would be a good one.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, something like it's like Men in Black. Exactly, yeah, exactly like that. I think shows that have like more more of like a modern setting and then not as like extremely fantasy, yeah. Something more sci-fi, yeah, you know. I think that kind of stuff. That's that's what should be trying to do, live action, not not fucking ninja combat. I mean, so you think this is gonna go poor. Oh, it's gonna bomb.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I I I also watched the bleach live action. I don't think it's that one. That one's good either. Is a bleached live action? Yeah, for movie movie though.

SPEAKER_02

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_01

It's a Japanese movie, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, I don't remember uh seeing that. Yeah. But I'm I'm surprised it took this long even to get a Naruto live action. That's true, actually. Yeah, considering how big it is. I mean, like, do you remember the Dragon Ball live action? Dude, that shit was whack. Dude, that's not even Dragon Ball. It's just called Dragon Ball and it has like Dragon Ball characters, but it's just fucking terrible.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yamcha.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but but uh I saw so I saw that they're doing um casting calls for global casting calls for uh this Naruto live action. Yeah. And I told you about it, and wouldn't it be so cool if we ended if we somehow got like a fucking casting call to be, for example, in Naruto. I mean that'd be cool.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But it can't happen.

SPEAKER_02

But but you don't think it's possible, right?

SPEAKER_01

No, I mean when or highly unlikely. Highly unlikely.

SPEAKER_02

Like the what are the chances that they're coming to this corner of Canada to look for like we would have to fly to like LA probably or the Hollywood. Yeah, but maybe they're doing like like video interviews or something, you know. Maybe you might submit something.

SPEAKER_01

But I feel like for those you need to be you need to have like an agency, maybe you can't just like self-refer and like put some.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, if you okay, so do you think you have it in you if you have to do like this kind of like performance to send in like a video reel? Do you think you have it into in you to like do like a fucking sick performance? If I haven't or at least try.

SPEAKER_01

If they give me an opportunity, yeah. Yeah, you would like it, it'll probably be horrible, but I'll give them my all.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, I asked because after that conversation, uh once I got home, I actually started that same day after I dropped you

Auditions Extras And Actually Trying

SPEAKER_02

off. I started looking at fucking local casting calls. For uh one no, I don't want to get your hopes up, so I didn't say anything for like Naruto. But because you said like you'd be down to fucking like because I'm super down to do this too. So there's actually a lot of like local where we live, yeah. Where we live within our pro within our province at least. Yeah, within the city, there's a lot of like student projects, and I don't know how down I am for that. I don't know how down you are for that. Oh no, I don't know. Maybe I would do like one just to see how it is, get some experience or something. If I'm like really, really free and it seems like really, really cool. But there's still like other stuff. Like I saw a couple for for TV dramas. Like there's one, there's one TV show coming out, like major network TV show, and they're filming uh in a bunch of towns across our province. And we're supposed it's supposed to be like a western or something. So I was like, maybe we could fucking audition for that, be some extras in that. Yeah, but yeah, there's a there's a bunch of stuff like that. So dude, I would love to be an extra. Yeah, yeah, me too, me too. I think that would be I would love to be able to do this. Yeah, and and we really should.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, is it a is it like a a big big show?

SPEAKER_02

Well, one of them is, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, really? Yeah, yeah. And they're coming around to uh like audition?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they're gonna be well, yeah. The auditions are I'm pretty sure it's in the city. Yeah, it's in because they're heading the city for auditions and also another city in our province for auditions, and then the filming is gonna be like there's like three towns near us and also in like fucking Montana or something. Is where they're doing all the what's the show called? It's called like Wildflower or something. Oh, interesting. Yeah, I tried looking it up, but I couldn't find it.

SPEAKER_01

Who's it who's the where is it going on? Like what's where's the TV network or the streaming platform? Oh, I forgot. But that'd be really cool though. Yeah, I mean like The Walking Dead. Oh, not the Walking Dead, but the Oh man, what's that? What the what's that show that recently Last of Us, like Last of Us was filmed close to where we live.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah, yeah, damn. And I heard that did pretty well.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, I watched it, it was really good.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, really? Yeah, really, really good. But yeah, I'm gonna keep checking out the the fucking website for uh local casting calls. No, and if I find something, let's fucking do it, man.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm I'm down, yeah. But yeah, I mean I'm I'm more down for like extra extra roles though. Like I don't want to be a main character too. To be honest, I'll do anything.

SPEAKER_02

Like, I because I'm like super doubtful I uh we're we're gonna get like any important roles, you know. Yeah, yeah. But even like even more than extra, like a side character, I'd be fucking down for. But I think you're right, I don't think I would want like a major role. Because that's uh pretty scary. And I definitely don't have like the acting chops. Yeah, I think I think I have the acting chops to be funny for like 10 seconds.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, really? Yeah, like a like a side character, like an extra, basically.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, like an extra. Like do something situationally funny that if someone's paying attention, they'll notice it. Yeah. But beyond that, I don't have it yet. Maybe someday. I'm down, man. I'm down. But uh yeah, we'll see how that goes.
