Welcome And The Perfect Parent\n

SPEAKER_00

Hello and welcome to Five Minutes in the Word. I'm Ronnie Cooksie. Imagine the perfect parent. If you had perfect parents, would you ever worry about whether they were going to meet all of your needs? No, of course you wouldn't. The perfect parent gives security, comfort, stability.

Romans 8 Promise Of Provision\n

SPEAKER_00

Well, we're told something about God today in Romans chapter eight, verses thirty one and thirty two that is way more encouraging even than having the perfect parent. It reads like this. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who's against us? He who did not spare his own son, but delivered him over for us all, how will he not also with him freely give us all things? Paul provides a reminder of just who this God is. It's one of the most amazing chapters in the Bible, full of encouragement about what God has done for us, is doing for us, and will do for us.

God Gave His Son For Us\n

SPEAKER_00

But who is this God? Paul says this is the God who didn't spare his own son, but delivered him over for us all. Well, what does that mean? It means that God, and remember that God is simultaneously three expressions of one God, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit. It says that God the Father gave his only Son, because there was no other way to pay for my sin and to pay for yours. And so Jesus, who was God, was sent to the earth by God the Father. Same God. Don't let it blow your brains this morning. And he sent his only son. Have you ever had a son? Would you willingly give him to die for other people? That's incredible. But God loved you so much, God loved me so much that he sent his son to die for us. And so then Paul says that if that kind of God is on your side, leading you, protecting you, providing for you, what could you ever need that he will not provide? He says that God who did not spare his own son, but freely delivered him for us all, how will that kind of God, not also with him, freely give us all things? What need do you have that God would not want to provide if he was willing to give himself, his only son,

Bring Your Needs And Trust\n

SPEAKER_00

to die on a cruel cross in your place? Exactly. There's nothing. Now he's also the perfect parent in that he knows exactly what we do actually need and when we need it. So here's what you do. Just like with that perfect parent, you tell them all your needs, and trust that parent, or in this case, God, will know exactly what you truly need and when you truly need it. Take it all to him. Tell him about every little thing and every big thing in your life right now. And he says he will give it with him or through him. That is, the way to have your needs met is to tell them to God, but also to have a relationship with him, and to know that your needs might not be met by living a life separate from or contrary to God's ways. Why? Because God loves you so much, he wants to even use the circumstances in your life to bring you back to Him or to bring you to Him if you've never come to know

The Ticket Story And Free Provision\n

SPEAKER_00

Him. Author Peter Creeft tells the story of a poor European family. They saved for years to buy tickets to sail to America. Once at sea, they carefully rationed the cheese and bread they had brought for the journey. After three days, the boy complained to his father, I hate cheese sandwiches. If I don't eat anything else before we get to America, I'm gonna die. Giving the boy his last nickel, the father told him to go to the ship's galley and buy an ice cream cone. When the boy returned a long time later with a wide smile, his worried dad asked, Where were you? In the galley, he said, eating three ice cream cones and a steak dinner. All that for a nickel? His dad asked. Oh no. The food is free, the boy replied. It comes with the ticket.

Final Encouragement And Blessing

SPEAKER_00

That's the way it is with us in God. You take everything you need to God, lay it out to him, pray about it, and then stay close to him and know that God, who is the actual perfect parent, will meet your needs in the right way at the right time. What a wonderful truth for today. God bless you today, and I'll see you right back here tomorrow.
