SPEAKER_02We had the camera all in the back of the hallway. In the hallway. Yep, next to the washer and dryer bedroom. We had to put it all in the back. But it was um look at this beautiful setup.

Uh the you know, because remember last time? I remember all the times we used to record, and TJ used to fuck it up.
SPEAKER_00And have to start again. Or we would get not recorded. We got so many lost episodes just because that was because that was my bad. The recording was off. That was my bad.

SPEAKER_00Coming back. Three weeks in a row. I don't know that I'm all the way back, but uh, you know, it feels good to be back out there. He got new jokes. Doing new jokes about his new life. It was a little, it was, it's interesting being back, and I tell people this all the time because like you can leave, you can quit comedy and come back, and nothing will have changed. No, we still. Last night was proof, bro. And I was like, But you got the new comics, man. Yeah, you got new comics, but the comics I know, I'm like, y'all doing closures on free shows? We trying to get listen, man. We trying to get paid. But you getting paid. You are you have traction, but like I'm like, why are we doing closures and open mics?
SPEAKER_02Man, ever since the Kevin Hart came out, everybody stepped that game up.
SPEAKER_00But there's a closure on an open mic, though. It's just like because uh the majority of what I worked was new, but it's just like you know, open mic, you can just all right, that's it. Exactly.

SPEAKER_00Like, we don't I I don't know. I mean, I I'm guilty of it too, but it was just interesting being out so long and coming back and seeing people.

SPEAKER_00Not I don't think I thought people would work all new, but I thought they would be working something something else. I'm like, we full-blown closers on a five-minute set, and it's you I guess I I don't know. I got a different perspective now. I got a different perspective having not been there for a while. It feels good. I'm also like, why am I doing just as well with new as you doing with your regular material?

I'm also unemployed. Yeah, I've also got nothing else to do. That contributes to the life. Also just hanging out. Yeah. You gotta be applying for jobs and how's that going? I actually love it. You either love applying for jobs or being unemployed.

Um But it's also hard too with Have you run out of shit to do? Oh, dude, I'll get so bored every day, bro. I'm so like starred for human interaction. So that's probably another reason I want to like get out and like do comedy in. Because I'm just at the crib like with honey to-do list, like, you know, trying to get like the room and stuff ready, or like trying to write, or trying to figure out something to record, or trying to figure out something I'm gonna sit here and bullshit about for a 30-second clip that's gonna get 250 views.

SPEAKER_00The algorithm sucks. Anytime you do anything different, it's like, nah, bro, that's not you. What are you doing? And it for me it was because I was posting memes. My memes, I had memes with like two million views. And I started posting myself. Instagram's like, who, who, why? Nobody wants to see your face, bro.
SPEAKER_02But Instagram did come out. The the algorithm guy or whoever it is who works there, he did come out and he said Instagram is no longer gonna push people who don't record their own content. So that the people who do the memes or like the face beside you and just point, they said they're gonna push that the bottom, and everybody who does original content or themselves, bro, my meme is gonna push you to the top.
SPEAKER_00My memes used to be destroying. Like I would post a meme, and within 20 minutes I'd have like five. Go back to the meme. No, because it's just it's so easy, bro. It's so like and then it's like when I do put my own stuff out, people aren't the following I gain from getting memes don't want to see my original content because they swipe to see memes.

If you would have told me, it was like, thanks for the bottle. I'd be like, hey, you're welcome, dog. But it wasn't. We opened it up, it was a plaque. And it was a plaque for like number one gen something award. So somebody had won some type of award and they had sent it to the wrong place. It wasn't for us. Did you keep the plaque? So we had kept the plaque, and then it was I guess it was two weeks ago. I had gone to the Defenders game, and Tamaria was having her book club, and she said during their book club, this lady just shows up at the door and she was like, Did you guys get a plaque delivered here? Like, did you get this plaque? And apparently it was her husband who had some event in LA. It was his. He had that they had won some kind of award for this gin. So he needs that plaque to take to LA with him. And it was just so happened that we still had it here. Oh because it was just hanging out. We were just like, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I'm just saying no.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't know. He was like, Yeah, no, we ain't got no plaque to live with. I was like, but I was like, damn, Maul sent me a bottle. I was like, I was propping you up, and I was like, Oh, this ain't from Maul. I was like, I just helped him move. I just helped him move. Here's the thing, too. Helping someone move is the worst, and you can't say no. Because you asked me, I was like, damn, Maul, Maul really considers me a friend. I was like, this Negro done asked me to help him move.

And then they'd be like, yo, bro, you go, I just helped you move and you got some little Caesars. Got you a five-dollar hot and ready. Got a five-dollar hot and ready. And them shits just be sitting all day.

SPEAKER_00Then I ordered Lil' Caesars one time. They were supposed to make it custom, bro. They just put stuff over top of a hot and ready. You're supposed to make it custom. Like, you know, you can like make your own little ingredients and stuff, so they gotta cook it fresh. They just put the ingredients on top of a hot and ready. Sent it to me. But you know, whatever.

SPEAKER_00Yeah. I remember me and one of my homeboys was in high school. We were high as shit. So we went to Pizza Hut, got the box or whatever, like sitting in my Jeep eating it. And my uncle walks by and I'm like, oh hell, he's gonna know I'm high.
SPEAKER_02He's gonna know. And then you just had some pizza. Yeah, you just hanging out, just chilling. And some pizza, dog. Uh I used to work there too. At Pizza Hut? In high school. That's my job. I used to work at Six Packs Pizza Hut. Are you scamming there?

SPEAKER_02No one buys the insurance, but you get paid commission on the insurance. Yeah. So what I did was I used to take a corporate code, put it into their reservation, right? It'll knock their per day rate from like 30 or 45 to like 15. Okay. Then I'll add the $20 a day life or insurance. Then I'll get their daily rate back up to $30 without them even knowing. Before they even showing up to the place, I'd have done that before they even show up. And their price is the same or cheaper with the insurance. So did they even know they had the insurance? Yeah.

SPEAKER_02I tell them, I was like, I'm like, here, this is what I got for you, right? Your bill was $300 for the week. I got you $300 for the week, but I also got the insurance on there, so you're covered. Same price. No difference.
SPEAKER_00Or just a damage waiver. Or do you have like all the personal?
SPEAKER_02I add as much as I want to get the price the same. Right? Because I could add as much if it's hired, I start taking some shit off. So I'm like, I'll just add like damage waiver or like or roadside assistance.
SPEAKER_00You know what I mean? So you over there doing math. That's $3.90. I can take that off. I can move this one up though. I take this one. I got it.
SPEAKER_02And if they argue with me, I'll give them a better car.
SPEAKER_00Why would they argue with you giving them insurance?
SPEAKER_02Because sometimes they do. They used to argue with me. The price will go. I give them, I could save them $75 with the insurance. And they still argue. They used to argue with you. Because they'd be like, I don't really need it. I don't want that. I'm saving you $75.
SPEAKER_00But the thing is, they so dumb that they don't understand how it works. So people be like, because I used to work at Enterprise, and like people be like, I got my own insurance. I'm like, yeah, but with your insurance, if something happened to this car, you still gotta pay the deductible. So if your deductible is a thousand dollars, exactly. You still gotta pay for that. And they'd be like, nah, nah, I'm good. I'm like, you don't understand. This is gonna relieve you. This is $45 for three days. This is gonna relieve you of having to worry about that. And we had the car blow up, you just give us the keys and you go home. And you go home. That is it. And then we had, man, it was a crew. So a majority of our rentals were insurance rentals. So through the week, it was just like they not buying insurance because like they like somebody already hit my car. I've already done whatever, I'm not paying for your insurance. But then they would have the weekend specials like Friday through Monday, where you could get a compact car. I want to say it was like $9.99 a day for the weekend. And every week, it would be 300, 350-pound dudes that would come in trying to get a weekend special on a compact car. Take them out to the car, talking about, I can't fit in here.
SPEAKER_01Sir, you know, you know damn well you wasn't gonna fit. You 500 pounds. You know damn well you wasn't gonna fit in that motherfucking car.
SPEAKER_00And our compacts was like the Chevy Sonics, like the Fiat. Or Honda Fitz. I can't fit in there, sir. You knew what size you were when you booked the compact.
SPEAKER_02You wanted the cheapest red. And I wanted to upgrade. Them dudes, I don't help. You would help? Them dudes I don't help. Them dudes I don't help. I'd be helping the this this is where I used to eat. But big bread, bro. When people used to book those uh 12-seater vans. Oh yeah. Them 12-seater vans, because they used to they'll book them all. They'll book them online and it'll be like $1,200 just for the van, right? So here's what I do for that. I go in, I'll see their name, I'll book them, I'll create a reservation for them online, like through my laptop in the house.

I book a compact car in the they'll have two reservations. I'll book a compact car in the name for the same amount, for the same length.

SPEAKER_02And then I'll add all the insurance. Because it's way cheaper. It'd be like $200 instead of $1,200. Then I'll add all the insurance and then I'll upgrade them for like a price.

SPEAKER_02Yeah, I get an upgrade. I'll upgrade them to the 12-piece of a van. So they'll get a 12-passenger van. I get all the insurance. I get the upgrade for $70, $75 a day. All that commission. And they'll come to me like, yo, that was a great sale. I'm like, hell yeah, no.

SPEAKER_02I did Broadway Comedy Club, and then I came back. As soon as I came back, I was gonna come back. I returned the car the next day. I went to my shift. Before I even clocked in, the dude was like, Yeah, don't clock in yet.

SPEAKER_02Yeah, and they was like, we heard, we uh we noticed that they pulled up the whole sheet, though.

SPEAKER_02I ain't hate that. When I did the uh I came in as a that's right after that was a job I had right out I got fired from Avis Budget. And I moved back here. That was my first job back here in DC auto zone. And I had to do like this uh meeting. So they hired me as a manager. So I was a gray shirt. I was a gray shirt. Not the red. Not the red. So that's how they did it. They did it, they were very racist in this big meeting. Okay. So when you go to this big meeting, like a big warehouse in like buoy or something, Bowie, Maryland, they was like, alright, it's a bunch of red shirts and gray shirts in here. I want the red shirts to go on this side, and I want the gray shirts to go on that side. Right? And then during lunch, they was like, we don't want, we want the gray shirts to talk to the gray shirts to get to know each other and the red shirts to talk to the red shirts.

SPEAKER_02Yeah, I was on that gray shirt side. And a little red shirt trying to walk across. I'm like, bro, hey, go back, go over there. And they had this weird, but I didn't know auto zone had a chant. They had a chant.
SPEAKER_00Oh, they're they're trying to get you to drink the Kool-Aid, bro. But he spelled it out with their name. You had to like, you had to be a cheerleader.

SPEAKER_00Like, I'm not gonna be here for long, man. So that was the worst shot of AutoZone.

SPEAKER_02Just first of all, it was It was a lot of manual labor. It was a lot of manual labor, and I couldn't finagle for extra money. You know what I mean? Like, I couldn't finagle for extra money as a manual. Like, I'm putting in, I'm putting headlights, uh, batteries, windshield wipers. I'm like, I don't know shit about cars. Nothing. I'm getting asked a lot of questions. I don't know. I was making shit up. That's what you gotta do. I would just line to people. Fake it till you make it. I was just lying to people, bro. Then you had to do those planograms. I don't know if you ever worked a retail store.

SPEAKER_02You had to do like the planograms. Oh, I just like a story about that. Listen, you gotta take down this whole shelf to reimagine it to like the way they want it now. But I'm like, the way it is, is fine.

SPEAKER_02But they had to take this whole thing down and then they gotta do it again. The trucks come, I had to manage. It was in the hood, too. It was all the In the hood, so I had to manage hood rats who can't know who boyfriends will come in. Fucking like boyfriend come in arguing with her. I'm like, what am I supposed to do with that? I'm supposed to manage this girl getting beat up by her boyfriend. Like I can't. What am I supposed to do about this? You know what I'm saying? Money missing from the hash register. SPEAKER_02And then the manager above me, he was a hood rat. The dude who managed all the managers was a hood rat. All he cared about was his hellcat. And if it was working that day.

SPEAKER_00He got that job to get parts. Bro, that's a funny. That's funny. I've I um interviewed for a part-time job. I think this was probably like 2000, it was probably 2020 during the pandemic. I was working at the airport for an Enterprise. It wasn't Enterprise, but it was like a knockoff enterprise or something. Anyway, long story short, I was a person that would just move the car from the garage to the car wash. They wash the car, I bring it back. So I go on the interview, but I dress up. You talked about this on your thing, the you talked about this on your um Instagram the other day. You know, you dress up. So I go in there. I made myself presentable. I got on button up, some slats, you know what I'm saying? Looking stupid. And a nigga with a Chicago Bulls hat comes out looking stupid. Nigga with a Chicago Bulls hat comes out to interview me.

SPEAKER_00So, bro, like the only way you weren't getting hired is if you had something on your driver record. So I get hired, and my supervisor is a nigga named Howard. Big, big fat black dude. They too lazy to walk to the car, drive the car, and get like everyone. Like, I'm like, bro, everyone should be a superstar at this job. It's so easy. Howard talk about, damn, you seem like you catch on pretty quick. I said, Nick, all I'm doing is moving cars. What is there to catch on to? Like, what's there to catch on to? This is easy. But the only thing like working with your dad, anything that happens on a job site that goes wrong was my fault. It was always my fault. I didn't even have to be there. I could be off. So this person made this much money. It's a pyramid scheme. I understand. Yeah, this person made this much money. I'm out there chilling, bro. Like, I'm living a good life. I'm beating big wigs and stuff. You meant to quit when you get back. No, I didn't, so I quit. We went on a road trip to Albany, and there was a blizzard. It was like six, seven inches of snow, and they were like, get out there, let's get in the field. So I'm traipsing around in my timberlands. So what I was selling, different agencies or subsidiaries sold different stuff. So mine was World Society for Protection of Animals. So I was basically showing up on people's doorstep being like, hey, no, you didn't plan on saving the animals today, but here's your chance. And then it was like, I don't know if you know it, but they got these bears in whatever country, and they make them play hockey. So it's like YouTube videos of bears playing hockey. And you show these people, I was showing talk to that, and then I remember I was like smoking Newport Reds, like in New York, like $13 a pack. And they were like, if you sell two a day, you're doing good. You're gonna have a good life for yourself, two a day. But I mean, it was getting you knocking 100-150 doors a day, most slamming doors. Some people would invite me in for a beer, and it was a Friday night, it was like 8 30. I'd already sold one. I knocked this woman's door. She's like, Oh my gosh, come in. She signed up. I gotta sign her up. I was like, what made you buy today? She was like, she starts crying. She starts crying, bro. She's like, my pet just died, and it's great what you're doing. Sign here.
