Hello.
SPEAKER_02Hello, welcome back. So this is episode five. This is episode five. But we're recording it before episode four. So this will be your fifth episode because we kinda fell into a little reading slump. Um because we had a little a little rough week the both of us. If you saw our like message. So we're recording this because we wanted to record today.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But we were gonna record both episodes, but we did not finish one of the books. So but we're almost there.
SPEAKER_04We just need another day or so.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we just need a couple.
SPEAKER_04So it'll still come out on time. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Just know that we recorded this one first. So yeah.
SPEAKER_02So like, yeah. So if you know us personally, you might hear different things and you're like, wait, that happened before. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So welcome back to the podcast. Welcome back. I'm Sam. I'm Michaela. And this is In a Plawhole. Fifth episode. Ooh. Hi.
SPEAKER_04Okay. So, what are you drinking?
SPEAKER_02What am I drinking? Right now I'm drinking air, but I'm waiting for a D pepper. D pepper.
SPEAKER_04Wait, not our D.
SPEAKER_02Well, you had a D.
SPEAKER_01You didn't let me finish.
SPEAKER_02I'm so sorry.
SPEAKER_04Wait our DPP.
SPEAKER_02Well, you had a DPP. I got a D D PP. Yeah. And if you saw our TikTok. If you saw our TikTok, you would know what that means. It's a Diet Doctor Pepper. Diet Dr. Pepper. Extra large from Wawa.
SPEAKER_04Our usual order.
SPEAKER_02Love. Okay, so high antelope. Again, if you don't know what that is, we do a high, low, a question.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_04Okay. So for those new listeners, I will explain high antelope while you think of a question because I realize you just forgot to figure one out. I was so worried about getting everything else done. So the reason why we call it a high antelope comes from um a family tradition that I have at the dinner table that we always used to do. Um and it was mistakenly um I accidentally named it that because that's what I thought my I can't remember who originally said it, but I had thought someone said high antelope instead of high and a low. So that's why we call it that. And it has been called that ever since I was a very young girl. So we decided to move it into the podcast.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So we're gonna do a high. We're gonna do low.
SPEAKER_04And then we're gonna have a question.
SPEAKER_02I have a question. So, Michaela, what's your high?
SPEAKER_04My high today was probably getting tattoos with you.
SPEAKER_02Tattoos! It was so fun. They're very small flash tattoos, but we my like main artist does uh flash tattoos at one of the vendor markets down here.
SPEAKER_04So yeah, we went after work.
SPEAKER_02We went and supported.
SPEAKER_04We went and supported her, which was so fun. We love her.
SPEAKER_02Um shout out blood.cat it's b-l-d dot c A T. So if you want some really cool black and grays, yes, go to her work style is amazing. Tell her Sam sent you.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah. Yes.
SPEAKER_02Okay. She'll know.
SPEAKER_04She'll know. Um, so that was probably my high of the day. And then um, what is your high of the day?
SPEAKER_02My high. Okay, so I want to hear your low first. Okay. Because my high and low are the same exact thing. Okay. Do you want me to say it? You can do your low first, and then I'll talk about it.
SPEAKER_04My low is that it is Sam's last day working with me, and it makes me really sad. But that's okay. Yeah. I'm not gonna cry. I'm not gonna cry.
SPEAKER_02We cried already.
SPEAKER_04I have not cried today about it yet. Yeah. So I probably will cry tomorrow though. Because it'll be my first day working without you. I think that's gonna be the harder part for me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So, to my high and low. My high and low both consecutively obviously loved getting a tattoo. I'm really sad that I'm leaving. But consecutively, high and low is leaving. Yeah, that's fair. Um, I've been there for two and a half years, and I've made some really good relationships with a lot of my coworkers, and I love them so much. And I obviously met one of my best friends there. Um, so I owe that place a lot.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But I drive an hour and a half.
SPEAKER_04It's a lot.
SPEAKER_02And I got offered a better job, like a better, not like better put job, but like better for your circumstances. Yeah, it the it's better pay for me, it's closer to closer to my house.
SPEAKER_04So you'll have a lot more time, I think, on your hands too, because then you you're not wasting like almost three hours of your day just driving. No, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I mean, granted, I gotta read an audiobook, but like I wanna like not be sitting in my car for three hours of the day and then eight hours working and you barely yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04So you have more time with your husband and the kid. Yeah. When we say kids, we mean our animals.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I feel like this will help me have be able to do more stuff with my friends, be able to do more stuff with my husband, be able to do more stuff around where I am, be able to focus more on different things like my school, this podcast. So it's a bittersweet, which is why it's both a high and a low. Um, but I'm really excited for what's coming up. I know.
SPEAKER_04Okay, I'm not like people, it's uh it's my low because like I won't get to see you every day, but we're still gonna see each other really, really often. So I'm not worried about it at all.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm not worried about it. As all me and my coworkers say, we're gonna go shake a little ass.
SPEAKER_04We're gonna go shake a little ass in celebration of new beginnings.
SPEAKER_02But I think that sentence is crazy. But I was telling, I was saying, I think I was telling you and one of our other coworkers, like I love talk I love talking to my co-workers, I love hanging out with my coworkers, but I feel like I never pushed to do more outside. Yeah. Because I was like, y'all, y'all you see me all the time. Y'all are tired of my ass. You don't want to see me outside of work. So I never like pushed for more.
SPEAKER_04Like, but you know, now Yeah, the relationships that I made at that job, I even when we were planning on moving, I was like, I'm I'm gonna keep up to date with these relationships because they're gonna be able to do that.
SPEAKER_02They're like definitely people I they're definitely people I will continue talking to um throughout my life, and I wish everyone the best and I can't wait to see what everybody does. I know. And I know everyone's gonna be feeling the same way about it.
SPEAKER_04Yes. It's gonna be very fun to see everyone again, like all in the same place.
SPEAKER_02Safe gas. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Anyway, we'll move on from the sad stuff.
SPEAKER_02Yes, but um, if I want to go like big, big high. Obviously, I got a new job.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you did. Yeah, and I'm so proud of you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so that's like a big, big high is I got a new job.
SPEAKER_04So um I think you're gonna really enjoy it too.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah. I've I've worked in the environment before and I really liked it, so we'll see.
SPEAKER_04I think you're gonna like it if all goes well. No.
SPEAKER_02So I have a question for you. Okay, what's the question? What is your dream tattoo? Oh, we got tattoos. Oh my god, I have so many. We were kind of talking about some.
SPEAKER_04I have so many guys. And if you know me, you know, if you know me in my personal life, you know how badly I like need tattoos. Like, I almost wanted to be a tattoo artist. I was like really close. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So this is like a really this is this is this is a feast for tattoos.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. So maybe we could do like top three, because I know you have quite a few. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We'll do two top three.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so what are your top three tattoos? No particular order. No particular order, make a pick a favorite.
SPEAKER_04So um, we were just recently talking about this, and I was talking to this about um with our tattoo artist today. Um, because she's probably I'm gonna probably be a regular for her too, because I love her art style. Anyway, I really want, if you've seen Alien, you if you know me in my personal life, you know I love Alien. If you've seen Alien, the face huggers, um, that's like kind of stick to your face, and then um it's like the main kind of alien, like the first alien. The first the first like form of it. Yeah. I'm gonna get that tattooed down my leg and my thigh.
SPEAKER_01Like hot as hell.
SPEAKER_04Mow. Mow. Anyway, so that's one of them, and I'm really excited for it because we were talking to her about it today. I wanna do. Damn. Sorry, we're looking up it's two mixers right now, too. Um, I probably um another dream of mine is I want my spine tattoo done. So I'm planning on getting my vertebrae tattooed on my spine, and I'm debating whether or not I should put monsters up it, or some sort of plant, or like flat wildflowers coming out of it.
SPEAKER_02You can do kind of a mix instead of like something, some as if y'all know me at this point.
SPEAKER_04I have a I have a really bad thing for plants and tattoos.
SPEAKER_02I really had a shirt today that says sunchin is for plants.
SPEAKER_04As I was getting the tattoo. Yeah. Anyway. Um I also already have a Monstera tattoo, too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. So um I already have plant-based. Most of my most of my tattoos have plants in them or can like have some concept of them. Anyway, um, my third one is probably my Icarus tattoo that I want on my um upper thigh. I'm gonna I'm having I'm gonna have like a Greek themed, like mythology-themed leg with like Icarus, like Penelope from the Odyssey, um Cerberus, like all of that kind of stuff. I'm gonna put that on one of my legs. And then I think I'm gonna just do like a movie thing for my other leg. Anyway, what are your three?
SPEAKER_02Um I can talk about this all the way. Yeah. I mean, I'm this I'm the same way. So can I like say concepts? Yes, concepts rather than because like so I really want my back done, but I want my back to kind of bleed into the back of my legs as well. But I have to figure out how to kind of like work it because one of my legs has a very specific theme as well. Correct. But I really want my back done in like some kind of like Renaissance, like woman's rage kind of like aesthetic idea, or like cathedrals or like just this like dark.
SPEAKER_04Because it'll also play into your it'll also play into your arms too, because she she you can explain that you have um statues. She has statues on my arms.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I have I have statues on one of my arms. I was again, I was an art history major, but I focus more on like the Italian Renaissance and like that kind of vibe. But I love like my favorite painting of all time is the beheading of St. John the Baptist. Um not for like not for like oh yay, women's rights, but like yes, women's rights, like yes, but also like just the colours and how it looks and like it's just how it's how it's painted, it's just so well painted. Just one of my favorite like paintings of like all time. Um, but like that kind of style going like down my back and my like tattoo artists just like sit down for it. But she was like, think really long and hard about it because that's a big area, and that is prime real estate on your body. So I'm like, I haven't like fully got the idea yet, but like that's my concept, and then because also I I know I was gonna say this earlier.
SPEAKER_04You and we both like to do this, we'll give our artists concepts of what of what we want, and then we kind of let them do their thing because it ends up being so much better when they you kind of just let them know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, which I feel like a lot of artists like do like a lot of people do with artists nowadays, instead of like I mean, there's the people that like go and be like, I want this exact picture and this specific spot. Like we let some pictures for like I let my my I let her pick where to put my flashback to. I was like, you put it where you think it's gonna fit and like well on my battery.
SPEAKER_04I did the same and it it fits really well. We just leave by half.
SPEAKER_02Love where mine is, it's so cute.
SPEAKER_04You wanna tell them what it is?
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, I got a bat today and I need him so cute. I mean Tim Batholomew.
SPEAKER_04Batholm you I got a little just match with uh like a half-burnt match, which is really cute and I love it. And the smoke is like shaped like little heart.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's a little cute.
SPEAKER_04I love it.
SPEAKER_02Um so another one is like one of my like I said, like with the back, I have to like figure out how to like morph it into my specifically my left leg. Yeah. Because my left leg is like horror themed, so like I want, and that's another thing is I want to finish that. Like I want a bunch of like horror like icon, but specifically like clowns. Yeah. If you know, I'm for some reason obsessed with clowns. Just don't phone cases clowns. My phone case is clowns. I already have an art the clown tattoo. It's pretty sick.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, um, but we should do a TikTok of our tattoo tour. Oh, yeah, we should do a tattoo tattoo. Would you like a tattoo tour? Yeah, let us know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so um, that's another thing is I want to like work on that because I have concepts, I have clowns I specifically want, but I think I like today. I actually decided I want to get each clown done up in like a different style so like a different artist can do the clown, but I want it like so it fits with that style. Like, for example, I want Shorty from Killer Clowns from Outer Space. If you've never seen that movie, if you've seen the movie, it's the little clown that punches the dude in the face and decapitates him. But that if you've seen that movie, it's very bright, very bright, colorful. So I need someone that will do like vivid super, super well in that style.
SPEAKER_04And that'll heal well.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that will heal well, not and they won't just like fall.
SPEAKER_04You've kind of already found an artist for that.
SPEAKER_02There's one, there's a couple that I've found that I kind of like, but it's like more of like a I wanna see like I've seen like their fresh work, but I haven't seen healed work.
SPEAKER_00Especially for vivids, you've got to be a few.
SPEAKER_02And I want to see and I want to see how they heal, so I'm like kind of following them to see. Um, and then another one that I want is I I just had it up. I really want like um my like hands done. Or like and my like feet done. Yeah. But like I want my hands like very subtle, but I want my feet done like with like like cathedrals kind of like the the stained glass going down it. But again, like I gotta like figure it out. Oh, another one. Sorry, the one I was thinking about was I want my ribs covered up, I think. Either covered up or touched up in a different way, probably covered up because they're done by a tattoo artist. It was my very, very first tattoo when I was 19 in a very, very bad place in my life, and the guy that tattoos tattooed them told me he would never tattoo me again because I have tattoos from other artists. So I but I want like something done on both ribs, and I want them to be symmetrical, so I think I'm just gonna get them like covered up at some point. So that's those are my tattoo ideas coming up.
SPEAKER_04I think our beverages are here. Beverages is here, beverage, and they got all three this time.
SPEAKER_02Look at that. We have all beverages.
SPEAKER_04Now we're drinking Dr. Pepper.
SPEAKER_02Now we're drinking Dr. Pepper.
SPEAKER_04And we'll also, we forgot to mention this. We'll have a special guest today.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah! Can you guess who it will be?
SPEAKER_04We have a special guest, and I'm very excited.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Um they'll be briefing.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04Thank you. They won't be here long, but that's okay.
SPEAKER_02Which one's the diet?
SPEAKER_04I don't know. We'll we'll test it and try. See if we can see if we sniff it. So we we used to do we do this our regular where we figure we sniff it to figure out what it is.
SPEAKER_02So what are you currently reading? Our last like question before.
SPEAKER_04Okay, so currently I'm reading. I'm currently reading the book that we need to have out before this episode airs.
SPEAKER_02So Ruth has voused. We're both currently reading Ruth's Vouched. We're like, we were gonna try to rush read it today, because we're like halfway done with the book, but then we were like thinking like I don't we didn't want to rush the book and give you like this like kind of um we didn't want to rush the book and give you like this very like not well thought out review of it. So we decided, oh, we're gonna wanted to take it. Yeah, we're gonna give it a little bit more time. Can I put it on this? Yeah, that's fine. But so that's what we're currently reading right now.
SPEAKER_04And then I don't think I'm currently reading anything else. Oh, I take I'm still reading Silverflame. Yeah, just I'm so sorry, and I feel bad because the Swiss Pacific co-worker wants to talk to me about it, and I feel horrible for not like finishing it.
SPEAKER_02But it's fine, she hasn't she hasn't finished Onyx Storm yet, so yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_04We'll finish Onyx Storm. She'll have time. I'll finish Silverflame when she finishes Onyx Storm. Yeah. So okay. Oh, okay. So um we are gonna do our our June TBR, but first I think we're gonna go over our our May TBR to see what we read and what we did for the first time. Oh, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Did you want to do that first or last?
SPEAKER_02Um we could do the May one first, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_02So for May, just to refresh, yeah. My TBR had Divine Rivals, Ruthless Vows, One Italian Summer, Not Quite Dead Yet, Glass Sword, The Wedding People, Encyclopedia of Fairies, and Anatomy. So I had eight books. I read technically fully four, but I'm halfway done with two. So like I've read, I read, I did finish Divine Rivals, One Italian Summer, The Wedding People, and Not Quite Dead Yet. But I'm halfway through Glass Sword and Ruthless Vows. But I didn't read the other two. I had to return them to the library.
SPEAKER_04Okay, so recap my May TBR. Um, so it was Divine Rivals, Ruthless Vows, which I'm still reading, One Italian Summer, Um, Pestilence, Monstrous Kind, and Court of Silver Flame. I technically did read Court of Silver Flame, I just haven't finished it yet. Um I did make a very good chunk in it though.
SPEAKER_01So yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um I did not read Monsters Kind, and that's only because I think did we say that we're doing those yet?
SPEAKER_02I don't know if we talked about it, but we're gonna talk about it. Okay, okay. Next.
SPEAKER_04Um anyway, so I did not read that one yet. Um I did read one Italian summer.
SPEAKER_02Obviously. Kind of that episode's already out. That episode's already out.
SPEAKER_04So yeah, I kind of read I I've TBR or I mean oh yeah, that's right.
SPEAKER_02You DNF'd it.
SPEAKER_04I DNF'd it, so I did not finish it. Um so I wouldn't count that as a okay. So then moving on to our June TB.
SPEAKER_02Do you want to start with yours?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I'll start with mine.
SPEAKER_02So well first I'll just we're gonna talk about our generic TBR, like our personal TBR, and then we'll talk about what we're reading for the the next the month for the episodes next. Right? Yeah. Is that what we decided on? Yes. Okay.
SPEAKER_04But it will won't mostly be you talking about what you're reading personally because I don't I don't think I'm currently reading anything outside of the podcast. Well, you have silver flames. That's true, I have silver flames, yeah. Oh then I'll put I'll put silver flames in.
SPEAKER_02Or we could talk about the four and then I can just talk about the three that's I mean I could just talk about the three that I'm re that I put on here quickly. Yeah. So the the three I put on besides the podcast ones is Carl's Doomsday Scenario, and that's because I've started it in May. Haven't finished it yet. Glass Sword, because I haven't finished it, but I need to finish it, and then Saltwater, which is another book I got from the library that sounded really interesting. That one, because I think I've talked about the other two. That one is about this woman dies, and then thir sh they and the death is ruined like an accident, or like it's not ruled like foul play or anything like that. And then 13 years later, because they go to the same place every year, um, her necklace that she was wearing just appears. So we love a little thriller, a little mystery. So it just intrigued me because of like the the whole like oh no, you know, yeah, interesting. That's generally what that one's about. So I'm excited to read that one. So so we'll see if I get to it.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_02So the four that we're reading.
SPEAKER_04The four that we're reading. Um, so we're gonna do Monstrous Kind. That was my pick.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, which is why we moved it from her TBR.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Um, so we moved it to over to the I think we did talk about those in the standalone.
SPEAKER_02I think we did too.
SPEAKER_04Because then I think we also talked about doing black sheep.
SPEAKER_02Yes, because Black Sheep by Rachel Harrison, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, because that's your pick. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That's the horror book that's like about the girl that like ghost no contact with her family, and then for a wedding, has to come back to that. I'm kind of excited for that.
SPEAKER_04I'm really excited for that one.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um, so then I don't think we've put this out yet, but it's my turn to pick. For the duology slash series episode. So I picked another YA duology to start off with. I thought since Sam got to do one of her favorites, I'm gonna do one of mine. Mind you, I've only read the first book. I have not read the second book, which I'm very excited to read the second book. So we're gonna do Carve the Mark and The Fates Divided. I can't remember what the series name of it is. Something I don't remember. But that one's by Veronica Roth, same author who did um Divergent and all of those. But it's kind of like it's like set in space, it's um enemies to lovers. Um their um their magic system is very interesting too, which I really enjoy. So I'm really excited for Sam to read this. It's kind of like a sci-fi ro romanticy type book. Set in space. It's great.
SPEAKER_02Um so excited to read those. So read along with us if you want. If you don't, you don't have to, but you can always just tune in and listen to us yell at annoying characters.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Um okay.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
unknownAlright.
SPEAKER_02Hello. Hello. We're back. We're back. We had to take a brief intermission. But okay, so we're gonna play a game this week. I'm very excited. So we're gonna play a game where we have to guess the book based on the Goodread review. Yeah. And it's we're picking a five-star and a one-star. And we have to guess the book based on the first thing. We have to guess the book based off those. So I picked some, Michaela picked some, but we have a special guest that's gonna join us first.
SPEAKER_04So I want to introduce my boyfriend and the editor of the podcast, Isaac. Howdy.
SPEAKER_02Welcome onto the show, my love. So he picked, you picked five. I picked five. He picked five. So he's gonna read them to us and we're gonna guess. Yeah. And maybe if he sees how much fun we're having, he'll stay for ours as well. Okay, my love.
SPEAKER_03Indeed. Okay. So the first five-star review is the longest freaking book I've ever read. And the first star the one star review is someone check his laptop, actually.
SPEAKER_04For some reason I'm I'm thinking it from Stephen King.
SPEAKER_02I also thought it from Stephen King, but then he said laptop. Wait, is it it?
unknownThis is it. Yeah!
SPEAKER_01So funny! That's so funny. I didn't think I was gonna guess any. Yay!
unknownAlright.
SPEAKER_01Check his laptop.
SPEAKER_03His Stephen King.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Fellow New Englander there.
SPEAKER_03Indeed.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_03My the second five-star is bros bros for life. The one star is look at the flowers.
SPEAKER_02Wow.
SPEAKER_04Look at the flowers.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Can we ask hints? Like, can we ask like a genre? Or like that kind of stuff? Yeah. Okay. Let me give give me some time. I just want to know if I can ask before I given the flowers.
SPEAKER_03Look at the flowers.
SPEAKER_02Look at the flowers.
SPEAKER_04For some reason I won't. I don't know. Was this a book? Hold on. Let me Google to make sure that what I'm thinking of was a book first. Okay. I don't okay.
SPEAKER_03Okay, hold on.
SPEAKER_02What's the genre?
SPEAKER_03Um historical fiction.
SPEAKER_02Oh.
SPEAKER_03I think I. I guess.
SPEAKER_02What's the what's the five-star again?
SPEAKER_03Bros for life.
SPEAKER_02Historical fiction. Is it the Hamilton di biography?
SPEAKER_04Is it broke back now?
SPEAKER_03It is fiction.
SPEAKER_02Damn. It's fiction, but it's not non-fiction. Historical fiction. Gross for life.
SPEAKER_03I don't know how else to put it.
SPEAKER_02How long is it? Is it a big book?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_03Maybe like 100, 200, 300 pages.
SPEAKER_02Is it a book I know?
SPEAKER_03I would assume anybody. People read it in high schools a lot.
SPEAKER_02Is it the Great Gatsby?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_04Is it is it Lord of the Flies?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_02Is it Catcher in the Rye?
SPEAKER_03No. So look at the Flowers was the comment, but I will I will replace flowers with rabbits, and that might make it a little bit easier. Look at the rabbits.
SPEAKER_02Is it animal farm?
unknownNo. Look at the rabbits.
SPEAKER_02Oh, is it a mice and men? Yeah. Yeah. That book is kind of sad. It is really sad. Yeah. I had a teacher, an English teacher, a white English teacher, that was like, it's okay to say it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, mine too.
SPEAKER_02Mine was also It's not okay to say it.
SPEAKER_04It's not okay.
SPEAKER_03So the third one I got, the five star, is the first book to ever make me roll my eyes in real life while reading. Five-star rating is not a reflection of actual quality, but on the fact that I love it regardless of it being low-key bad.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Is it Twilight?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the one-star review is he didn't even say I want to suck your buttons. That's really funny. Yes, that is Twilight. Number four, the five-star review is privileged. Okay. The one-star review is I'm sorry, but I simply do not care about rich men being sad at parties as well. Is it the Greek gas? Is it the Great Gasp?
SPEAKER_02Are you kidding me? I have to change three of my buttons.
SPEAKER_01I'm not even kidding. I picked it. And the Great Gaspy. I want to see this book. I love this three for three. I wanted the next two books you can't.
SPEAKER_02No, I didn't pick Mace and Men. He had a mice and men on the book. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_04Sorry.
SPEAKER_03It might be.
SPEAKER_04I'm really bad at counting.
SPEAKER_03Well, the last one, we'll see, we'll see how this goes. The five star is I hate my life. The one star is written by a 16-year-old and you can tell.
SPEAKER_02Huh. That's the one that what genre is it?
SPEAKER_03Uh also, I guess historical fiction is a good frame. Also a high school literature book, I would say. I hate my life one. I I just thought that was fun.
SPEAKER_01Is it the things they carry?
SPEAKER_03Uh no. Oh no. I can say something and you both know it immediately. I could actually tell you what one of the reviews of the five-star reviews was, but just because of the code. Tell me, tell me. Tell me. Stay gold.
SPEAKER_04Stay gold.
SPEAKER_03Stay gold. Very, very linked to a specific book.
SPEAKER_02It's in 1974. 1994, whatever the f it's called.
SPEAKER_04I never read.
SPEAKER_02You're gonna like the meow I picked. It's very funny.
SPEAKER_04Um I've not read that book. I did not read that book in high school. They didn't require me to read that one.
SPEAKER_03I know that. I know you've read this book. We've talked about this book.
SPEAKER_04Oh, we still haven't guessed it yet.
SPEAKER_03Oh no.
SPEAKER_04Um, it was not in 1984. Uh I'm trying to think of that one book. Uh where it's about like the drugs and people take the happy pills.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_04Do you know which one I'm talking about?
SPEAKER_03Yes, that's a dystopian book, though. That's true. Brave New World.
SPEAKER_04Brave New World, that's what I was thinking about.
SPEAKER_03But this is just like historical fiction. It's like very bare bones and that kind of thing. I guess it was written too much. I have no idea.
SPEAKER_04I have no idea.
SPEAKER_03It's The Outsiders.
SPEAKER_04Oh, I never read that. I didn't write I didn't read that either. My mom would be so disappointed. I I don't remember ever talking to you about that book.
SPEAKER_03I know we talked about that book when we wanted to be a book. I know my mom loves that book. I adore that book. It's interesting.
SPEAKER_04My mom and then my brother also love that book. Stay gold is like the phrase from that.
SPEAKER_02I do need to read it. I do need to read it. I've seen the movie, so that's yeah.
SPEAKER_03That book's very, very good.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Okay. Sorry, per se. I'm gonna pause for a couple minutes to find three other ones because not fun. Because I the reason I got it is because he used the five-star that I also picked. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_04That's so funny. Out of all of the only five stars there were, the fact that you two picked the same one is crazy.
SPEAKER_02It was literally this book is huge.
SPEAKER_04So I'm gonna look for three others really quick. Intermission Iones.
SPEAKER_02Okay, we're back. Okay, we're back. I refreshed.
SPEAKER_04We refreshed and we got new quote.
SPEAKER_02New books and Isaac's gonna stay.
SPEAKER_04That's playing the game. He says it's good.
SPEAKER_02So do you wanna go back and forth?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we can.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because like he did his, but we'll go back and forth. Yeah. Do you want to go first?
SPEAKER_04I can go first.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_04Okay. So the five-star for this book is this book whispered sweet nothings to my soul. I tore through it like a fat man. Oh, you can eat buffet with five minutes till close. The banter between blank and blank is hilarious. And the action in Snark is top-notch. Okay. And then the the Okay, so I couldn't find a one-star review, but I found a two-star review, but it was it was um no one stars.
SPEAKER_02Ooh.
SPEAKER_04Um, so it's like everybody be cool and chill about this. I said everyone be cool and chill about this. I'm going to say the thing that I always end up having to say, anyways. Um let me skip to the good part. Sorry. You do not need to berate me if you love this book. I you can simply stop reading here and move on. It was just like a cut. Do you know it? Oh. You've read this book before.
SPEAKER_02I've read this book how how long ago?
SPEAKER_04It was recently within the past few months. What was the genre? It's fantasy. I want I I wanna say it's fantasy.
SPEAKER_02Is it Wings in Ruin? No. Is it that universe? No. No. Is it Onyx Storm? No.
SPEAKER_04I did not pick any of those for my my my it's not Lord of the Rings, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Whack I've read it recently in the last month.
SPEAKER_04Not within the last month.
SPEAKER_02But like with like it's from my 2026 like reads.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_02Um can you reread the five-star again?
SPEAKER_04This book whispered sweet nothings to my soul. I tore through it like a fat man at an all-you-can-eat buffet with five minutes till close. The banter between blank and blank. Is it deep end by Allie Hazelwood?
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_04Is hilarious. The action of snark is top-notch.
SPEAKER_02The action? Oh, is it Dungeon Crawler Carl? Yes. Would you consider that fantasy? Um, it's lit our it's lit RPG, is what it's called. Okay.
SPEAKER_04Your turn.
SPEAKER_02My turn, okay. I can't do that one. Can't do that one. Because someone stole it from me.
SPEAKER_03My B.
SPEAKER_02Okay. So the five R the five star for this one is after further inspection. Dot dot dot. I fear I love this book. And the one star is this book was wowing corny. It was awful, but also a porn fest. When something when reading a dark romance, you expect a little more depth and triggering themes to accompany the story. Maybe a little drugs, death, etc.
SPEAKER_04Um. Is it Lights Out?
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_04It's dark romance.
SPEAKER_02It is a dark romance, yeah.
SPEAKER_04It's corny. I don't read a lot of dark romance.
SPEAKER_02We neither one of us have read this book.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_02Um but we know someone who has.
SPEAKER_04Is it haunting Adeline?
SPEAKER_02It is Haunting Adeline.
SPEAKER_04Um, the five-star.
SPEAKER_01Who told you about this book?
SPEAKER_02The one star is so long. And then the five-star is just that. Like, it wasn't even anything else on it. It was just that. I couldn't go more because, like, it would give away like the name.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Okay. So the five-star review for this one. The ending had my skin crawling. Such a good book. I love the outside of the horror, and there are so many fantastic themes and reflections on grief, death, family, and more. I knew zero about the plot going into it, which I think is the best way to start this book because so much of the plot surprised me. The one-star review. I don't usually write scathing book reviews. I've I've always given book the benefit of the benefit of the doubt, even if it's not that great, but I feel so strongly about this one, I felt I had to say my piece. This is my first the author's name book. I was ecstatic to read the um horrors self-proclaimed scariest book. Scariest book. I'm is it the shining? To say I'm disappointed in this book is a gross understatement.
SPEAKER_02Is it the right author? Yes. It is a Stephen King. It is a Stephen King. Yes. Yeah. Yeah, because you said body horrors, and there's a lot more body horror in that one than there is in The Shining.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I love that book.
SPEAKER_04I've not read that book. I really want to read that book.
SPEAKER_01Love that book.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_04For Okay. I I don't need to say what I was about to say.
SPEAKER_02No, you could say it.
SPEAKER_04So do you know what I'm gonna say? I don't know. We were just talking about this the other day. So I've been playing Red Dead Redemption 2. And in the game, it's a it's a cowboy game. You have a horse and you get to name the horse, and I named it Church, which is the cat, which is the cat from Penn Cemetery. And I plan to actually name an animal that in the future because of that movie and that um that story.
SPEAKER_02Okay. My turn?
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay, the next book.
SPEAKER_04Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02This is the five-star. I'm gonna read the whole thing.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_02Holy owl. Holy owl. Sorry, you have to bleep a lot out. A court. A blank is the best book I have ever read in my entire life. Dot dot dot contains a ton of spoilers. Dot dot dot. Really, if you have not finished the book yet, do not read this review. The book is way more than five stars. It's more like one million out of five stars. I knew it was going to be perfect, but I didn't know it was gonna be this perfect. That was in all calves. To be completely honest with you guys, I have absolutely no idea where to start, so I'm warning you, this is gonna be far from an actual review. May 3rd was the day I died. And then the one star is this was indeed one of the worst books. The worst book I've ever and I mean ever read in my entire exhaustive life. Truly, that writing made me want to gouge, gouge out my eyes and die, die, die.
SPEAKER_04Damn. Interesting. So I know you accidentally said a little bit of it, but I still have to guess which one. Oh. Based off the based off of the God, I don't know. They're all just so good. Um They're not. I'm kidding. Well, I guess a court of it's not necessarily because there's a ton of books that start that way, I guess. No, I'm just thinking it was saying that. There's a lot of books that start with a court, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So have I read this book? You have read this book.
SPEAKER_04That narrowed down a lot of them.
SPEAKER_02No, it's not a court of thorns and roses. Oh I want to say Mist and Fury or even It's Mist and Fury, which is why I said you're gonna hate this one star because that's your favorite one in this series.
SPEAKER_04That's my favorite one in the series. That's very interesting, though.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Okay, I'm really excited for this one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Okay, so the first the five-star review is Love at first word. I can barely think straight. Ow.
SPEAKER_02Pride and Prejudice.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_04Ow. Okay, you have to let me read the because the you're gonna laugh at the one-star review.
SPEAKER_02It's so I heard the love at first word, and I knew. I will reread it. How do I promise?
SPEAKER_04How do I recover from this book hangover? I'm obsessed with everything about this story. I can see myself rereading this forever. That was the one-star review. That was the five-star review. The one-star review was Jesus Christ, just have sex.
SPEAKER_02No, but for real, but literally no. Just foul. Man, just true.
SPEAKER_01Just have sex. It's the best way to describe that book.
SPEAKER_04I was like that's why I picked this one.
SPEAKER_03I almost also picked pride in pregnancy. It was like that was the.
SPEAKER_04I thought, okay, I was just curious when I was looking at it because I was like, I'm not gonna do that. But I saw that comment. I was like, I have to do this now. It is so funny. And that's why you heard me giggling earlier because I she looked at me and goes, What are you doing?
SPEAKER_02I know I assumed she was gonna throw pride in pregnancy. It's so funny though. Okay. Okay. I'm gonna.
SPEAKER_04This one is a very my dog is scared of Herbie. We have a little Herbie from Fantastic Four, and he's scared of it. It's really funny. Mind you, he's a pit bull. Um, it's the popcorn bucket. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, it's a popcorn, a snack holder, and a drink holder. Oh my god, I'm sorry. Get it right. I have one too, and I call it my circuit baby. My circuit. Um, okay. So the next one I'm gonna tell you right now. This is a youth chapter book. So, like middle grade. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. The fur the five-star review is an awesome book. A guy ate 15 blanks in 15 days. He could have died. Luckily, he didn't. The one-star is stupid book I read with my students.
unknown15 blank in 15 days.
SPEAKER_02It's also, there is also a movie.
SPEAKER_04I want to say diary of the whoopee kid.
SPEAKER_02No. But close, in the same kind of like. Same realm? Say that same time. No. I don't think you're gonna get it. I don't think I'm gonna get it. Yeah. He ate 15 blanks in 15. If I say the blank, it'll give it away. Unless I don't know if you've read it.
SPEAKER_03I don't know, I need the head.
SPEAKER_02What do you what do you want?
SPEAKER_03What is the 15?
SPEAKER_02What is the 15? Yeah. Fifteen worms in 15 days. What?
SPEAKER_01Mow. You read me. What is this kid's book? Fifteen words? In fifteen days.
SPEAKER_02What? It's also a movie. I have no idea.
SPEAKER_04What genre is this?
SPEAKER_02It's like just misgrade fiction, yeah.
SPEAKER_04I just thought of what that would have been a really good one to do. I'm not gonna do it, but I was gonna do War should have done Warrior Cats. That would have been a good one. Harley, stop.
SPEAKER_03Um I was gonna say Bone, but they don't have a movie.
SPEAKER_02I d I have no idea. You give up, yeah. It's called How to Eat Fried Worms.
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_02It's about so it's a movie, but it's also a book. It's about it's called How to Eat Fried Worms by Thomas Rockwell. But it's about this kid that's brand new, and he moves to a new school, and they bully him, and they put worms in his lunch, and they're like, What's that, Forester? You eat worms for lunch? And he goes, Yeah, I do. So the whole book is him eating 15 different worms in like 15 different ways. So there's like the the cooked one with the magnifying glass. It was just a dumb book I read. I don't know why I randomly just thought of it, but what the fuck? Yeah. Midgrade fiction is weird.
SPEAKER_04Midgrade fiction is odd. Okay. Okay. So okay.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_04So this is um this is the the five-star. Haven't actually read this. I'm writing the review for my grandson. He is seven in a month. He's not here, so I'm guessing a five-star could could be maybe be a four. He's read this one and the next in the series liked them both. The one star is Jesus, what an asshole.
SPEAKER_02Like, is Jesus the asshole, or is it like Jesus?
SPEAKER_04Jesus, comma. Oh, okay. What an asshole. I believe I know what this is, but I believe you showed it to me.
SPEAKER_02Wait, can you read the first one again?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I I did show this one to you. Yeah. I didn't think you were gonna play. Um haven't actually read this. I'm writing this review for my grandson. He'll be seven in a month. He's not here, so I'm guessing five star could be a four. He's read this one and the next in the series, liked them both.
SPEAKER_02Is it terminated?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_04This is also realm of children.
SPEAKER_02Realm of children. Yeah. Is it Harry Potter? No. Good.
SPEAKER_01We do we do not we don't we don't talk, we don't speak. Okay. Um is it Aragon?
SPEAKER_02Is it Warrior Cats? No. Is it Percy Jackson? Is it Captain Underpants? No. What is it? What what genre of YA fiction?
SPEAKER_04Um of you like I would comedy?
SPEAKER_02Comedy?
SPEAKER_04I don't know.
SPEAKER_02What would you say? Is it diary of a wimpy kid?
SPEAKER_04It is diary of a wimpy kid. Ugh, that was funny. That's so funny.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Okay. Um okay. So this one, this five star is the circuit baby has been decapitated.
SPEAKER_01Oh no. Oh no. What are you doing here? I'm Christopher Watkin. Oh my god. Wait, I don't care. I'm I'm the headless husband and then the sleepy hello with Johnny Deb, and I got to blend Jersey Deb as mom and husband. So sorry.
SPEAKER_04Oh my god.
SPEAKER_02Are you ready? I was gonna think you're gonna enjoy this one. Okay. The five star is founding a genre like a boss, stealing everything possible from mythology and the maybe sometimes a teeny bit boring old classics. The beloved tradition of using others' ideas to create something new is big here.
SPEAKER_03Harry Potter.
SPEAKER_02The one star is I don't understand the phenomenon around this series. I find it slow, long, and boring. It's not for me. Harry Potter. No.
SPEAKER_04Um is it a book you said earlier?
SPEAKER_02It's a book someone did guess earlier for another book.
SPEAKER_03Lord of the Rings.
SPEAKER_02Yes, but which one?
SPEAKER_03Oh, is it The Hobbit?
SPEAKER_02Mm-mm.
SPEAKER_04Um Two Towers. No. Fellowship?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's the Fellowship. I was alright.
SPEAKER_03You know, that's so fair though. The intro to that book is slow as Yum.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Your is it your last one?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, this is my last one. Okay. My five the five stars funny. I made this book my bitch. The one star. I'm giving up on this one, and I'm seriously befuddled. The reviews for this book were so uniformly wonderful and full of good things. Great world building, well thought out magic systems, all the stuff I like I look for in a fantasy.
SPEAKER_02Fourth wing? No. Oh, you said you didn't pick any of those. Is it a book I've read? Yes. Is it Harry Potter?
SPEAKER_04No. You do not speak its name.
SPEAKER_02All the things. Who shall not be named? Is it is it one of the Star Stormline Archive by Brandon Sanderson books? Is it Way of Kings? Yes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I made this book my bitch is my favorite.
SPEAKER_02I made well that book's like a huge new.
SPEAKER_04I have a hole in my pants.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02My last one. Okay, so this is my last one. Okay, go for it. So I'm sitting on a plane crying over the ending of this book. It's not like I didn't already know how it turns out, but I didn't know blank before. Not in the way I do now. No lie. Reading this book is a major undertaking. I'm a lover of history and biography, and this is one of the most compelling true stories I've read in a long time. And then the one star is. I started reading this because I was like, I wonder how the blank differs from the historical reality, but it's very quickly becoming I wonder how the blank differs from Ron Chernow's 800-page devotional elegy to blank.
SPEAKER_04Do you know what it is?
SPEAKER_02I think he saw the picture.
SPEAKER_04No, then guess it.
SPEAKER_03I don't know. We were talking about a historical book earlier, so I don't know.
SPEAKER_04Am I just like not getting it?
SPEAKER_03Did we talk about this book earlier?
SPEAKER_02Yes, it is a non-fiction book. A non-fiction book.
SPEAKER_04Why not? You're playing the game too.
SPEAKER_03I already know the answer. You have to guess it. It's not fun since I already know it.
SPEAKER_04I have no idea. Wait, can you read the first one again?
SPEAKER_02The five-star? Yeah. So I'm sitting on a plane crying over the ending of this book. It's not like I didn't already know how it turns out, but I didn't know blank before n before. Not in the way I do now. No lying. Reading this book is a major undertaking. I'm a lover of history and biography, and this is one of the most compelling true stories I've read in a long time.
SPEAKER_04I don't know why what I want to say the Bible.
SPEAKER_01No. No. No. Absolutely not.
SPEAKER_02Do you want? Do you want some of the blanks out of the the?
SPEAKER_04Do you want some of the blanks? I'm just kidding about that. That'd be a funny joke in my head. I hope it was funny.
SPEAKER_02Um Do you want more of the one star? Do I know this book? Yes. You know of this book. I don't know if you've read this book.
SPEAKER_03I'm sure you read this book in high school, probably.
SPEAKER_02I feel like Do you want more of the one star? There's more on the one star. Okay. This is just the very most masculine and white perspective. Like, for God's sake, Blank is seriously like Blank is the most forgotten founding father and also the most marginalized person from the time period.
SPEAKER_04Do you not know what it is? Or do you know what it is? Do you not know who it is now?
SPEAKER_03Well now I know what it is, but I was wrong before.
SPEAKER_04Oh. What did you think it was?
SPEAKER_03I'm not. But now I know what this is.
SPEAKER_04Nonfiction.
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_02Like Christ, could you be a little less hard for this Patsy Scottish capitalist who had both an infantry and a god complex?
SPEAKER_01I'm even more confused about you.
SPEAKER_04I'm so confused. I don't know. I can't think of anything. I don't read a lot of historical fiction, guys. It's not historical fiction, it's non-fiction. Non-fiction. I don't read a lot of non-fiction.
SPEAKER_02Here, let me find another review. Do you want to guess? Oh, is it uh it's the Hamilton book. It's the Alexander Hamilton.
SPEAKER_04That's funny.
SPEAKER_02So the full the full one star is. I started reading this book because I wondered how the musical differs from historical reality. But it's very quickly become as I wonder how the musical differs from Ron Chernow's 800-page devotional allegedly to Alexander Hamilton.
SPEAKER_04Okay, okay, that makes more sense. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's a and then the one star, there's more of it that says, despite Chernow's obvious affection for her subject, he does not hesitate to call Hamilton out on some of his blunders and bad judgment calls. It's the book that uh Lynn Manuel Miranda read to write Hamilton.
SPEAKER_04Okay, okay. That makes a lot more sense now. Oh my god, I didn't know. You were wrong. That was before that what that was. What did you think of the realm of possibilities in my brain?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_04No, we didn't do that one. Harley. Hi, blah blah blah. Arlie says hi, everyone. Harley says hello. Okay. So I think we're wrapping up, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Thank you, Isaac, for joining us.
SPEAKER_04Thank you, Isaac, for joining us, and um, thank you for editing our our audios. We really appreciate it. Yep.
SPEAKER_02We appreciate it.
SPEAKER_04It's good. It's good. It's good. Touchdown. Goal. Man, we're home run. Sports words. Sports.
unknownAnyway.
SPEAKER_04Home run.
SPEAKER_03We did Isaac a fair dude.
SPEAKER_01We did a farewell.
SPEAKER_04So I wanted to get shout I know he probably he's he's gone, so I can do it. I'm gonna shout him out.
SPEAKER_02Follow him on TikTok.
SPEAKER_04So yeah, follow him on TikTok.
SPEAKER_02If you're into comics.
SPEAKER_04If you're into comics, let me get let me pull up his actual like handle. Handle so you can follow him. He posts. He posts all about comic books. Yeah. So go follow him. Go follow him. It's at um well his username is just Luna.
SPEAKER_02It's at Mavaricious Luna M. So M-A-V-E-R-I-C-U-S underscore L-U-N-A-M. I repost, so if you go to the In a Plothole TikTok and go under the repost, you'll see it there. Yeah. So you can follow him there.
SPEAKER_04Go follow him. Yeah, he posts um he does like comic book stuff. He posts like new video games that are coming out with all of like the Marvel DC stuff and he ha we collect a lot of um comics. We we collect a ton of comics. We have a ton of like superhero themed things around our house.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I have to read those. I have to read the Batman ones he let me borrow.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so uh we probably will have him back on at some point to do a comic book episode because I think that would be quite fun.
SPEAKER_02And maybe actually we'll have my husband come on. Well do we should do a game with both of them. Oh my god, that would be so fun. So yeah. But thank you guys for listening. Thank you and read the books. Tell us what you want, tell us your answer your question if you want tattoos. If you don't want tattoos, tell us something that's exciting happening in your life. Yeah. If you're not a tattoo person. But give us a like, a follow, share it to your friends. And a lot of people keep saying we should need an intro at the beginning. Yeah. So we're working on it.
SPEAKER_04We're working on it.
SPEAKER_02We're working on it. So alright.
SPEAKER_04Thank you for listening, guys, and I hope you have an amazing rest of your day. Yes. Rest of your night whenever you're listening.
SPEAKER_02Week. But we'll see you next time. Bye!
unknownBye.
