Oh ramra, let's get started. And two, we've been waiting for the little okay. So first of all, welcome back. You have been waiting so long.
SPEAKER_01So I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_03Wait. There you go. Okay, we got the meow in the episode. Perfect. Okay, so should we start?
SPEAKER_01Should we start?
SPEAKER_03Alright. I wanna I'm I wanna kind of jump ahead a little bit. I wanna get to these drinks. Okay. Because what are you drinking? So we're gonna start with what are you drinking today. We always start with what are you drinking. That's true. Sorry. I'm just really excited. Okay, so instead of because I'm in charge of the drinks now, so instead of us doing one singular Dr. Pepper, we did three. Now I have four cups here. I figured we could share the first two, the frozen one. Okay, so let me let me kind of walk you through this flight. There is gonna be a picture. Yeah. Um let me walk you through this flight. I will say, anytime I make a dirty Dr. Pepper, they tend not to look super appetizing, but they tend to be very delicious. This is true. So right here, starting off here, this is Bella's blood. Oh. So um she's got some hints of hibiscus um cherry flavor. Um, and after reading the books, this is like they kind of mention this a lot is how Bella's blood smells and tastes and tastes. So it it has a floral scent to it. So that's why I grabbed the hibiscus. Someone did her reading. Okay. So I did this special for you because I thought you would love this. And by the way, they all have glitter in them. They do! All of them have glitter. You can see. Okay, so over here with the little fluffy top, that is skin of a killer. So this one is a Dr. Pepper with coconut flavor and cherry. It's got the coconut cream in it. I thought the cream would kind of come through a little bit more, but it's fine. So now the frozen ones, this is stone cold. We love. We love a girl that does. This is stone cold. So this is a blended dirty Dr. Pepper, not just blended with ice, it is blended with Dr. Pepper ice. Dr. PP Ice! So this is a coconut strawberry flavor. Um, a little. So I'm really limited on the flavors just because.
SPEAKER_02You don't realize the strawberry reference comes from her shampoo. Because she has strawberry-scented shampoo.
SPEAKER_01Someone says her birthday!
SPEAKER_02I wanted this to be special for you. Um, so gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme.
SPEAKER_03Which one would you like to try first? I want Bella's. Bella's blood. I did sample it earlier in the day, and it is very delicious. So uh the grenadine I bought specifically for this was a hibiscus grenadine, so it's got like a hibiscus like pomegranate flavor to it. And I added a little bit of cherry in there to make it kind of more fruity flory. Let me let me try it. I didn't know if the glitter would affect it. Ooh. Ooh, Bella's blood is really good. This one's really good too. Yeah. I put cherries in this one. I don't I forgot to put them in that one. But I'm gonna try stone cold. Oh she cold. Ooh, I love the coconut in that. That yeah, that one's good. This one's really good. They're all really good. I love the coconut in that. And we'll be posting a picture of all of the ingredients, and um, I can even post my little recipe card too, if anyone wanted it. But um, I made one of each for Stone Cold for us, so you can keep that one. That's I thought that would be nice and refreshing throughout the episode. So, and who whichever one was your favorite you can keep. Because I knew if I made six Dr. Peppers, I thought that would be too much. So I made I made four. Okay. So that was the surprise I had for you. I'm so excited. Okay. Well. I decided to do this like three days ago. I was like, I was planning it.
SPEAKER_02I love this. I I'm so happy we changed that. Yeah. Instead of just every single time. A Dr.
unknownPepper!
SPEAKER_03Yep. So I I've been loving making these, so it's been a lot of fun. So I will say this is probably gonna be a lot longer episode, so strap in.
SPEAKER_02Strap in, buckle up, and Moseyong down to Forks Washington. You would think she has the stuff written down, but you can't. I'm just this crazy naturally. It's fine. Alright. Um special delivery from the eye of player ID gaming.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, go watch a stream tonight.
SPEAKER_02They're streaming! Well, they won't get to because this will go up a week after. Oh follow them! They'll still be streaming then. Put the links in the thing because I made them socials now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, please do. Isaac, you wanna come on and say hi?
unknownI said hi.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Future meow, here is your meow.
SPEAKER_02Meow you can interchange the meows.
SPEAKER_03Here's my meow.
SPEAKER_02Hey, well, a little high ant high antelope.
SPEAKER_03High antelope. Um probably started my new job. That was fun. Yes, you started. I started and I didn't realize that I would be basically running the floor when my manager's not there. So it'll be great. I got yeah. So yeah, I'm excited and I've been really liking it. Um it's I it's like riding a bike. Like I got on bot like I pulled my apron on for the first time and I walked onto the floor and I was like, it feels like I never left. It was really weird.
SPEAKER_02You just got that snatched into your waist.
SPEAKER_03No, yeah, my apron, it like closes all the way. I was like, damn. Snatchy. Anyway, no, those those aprons will snatch you for no reason. Everyone. Everyone looks fantastic in those aprons. Probably besides me. Don't say that. I have an apron in the closet, be honest. It just smells it's my bullbone. I'm not using it anymore. Gross. Yep. Anyway, what is your low? My low? Probably having food poisoning two days ago. Oh yeah. That was awful. I never want anyone else to experience what I experienced that day. Oh my god, it was horrible. Isaac knows. God love Isaac. He stayed with me the entire night. It was lovely. Besides me throwing up and you know. Yeah. Get you a man. Get you a man who will. Get you a person.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, actually.
SPEAKER_03Actually, get you a person that'll hold your hair while you're throwing up for your poisoning at midnight.
SPEAKER_02Or get you a person that will wake up in the middle of the night when they're supposed to wake up at 3 a.m. while you're sobbing, crying over a celebrity's death, because it really just like your head. Dylan did that for me the other day. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03That just proves if they cared they would do it. Yeah. So. Anyway. Sorry, I'm hungry. So I didn't do mine. What is your high in a little? I was about to ask. Sorry, I was thinking. Oh, my brain was processing.
SPEAKER_02What what I be uh my high. I changed all the mannequins in my store yesterday. I was really fun. I got free range of that.
SPEAKER_03That sounds like fun.
SPEAKER_02And I got my nails did. Ooh, let me see. And I got my hair did. Ooh, I love those. As I call it. Mild spook.
SPEAKER_03Mild spook, I love it. And your nails are a lot straighter.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. They look like. I have nail I have nail problems. That's a whole different topic.
SPEAKER_03I think we've talked about it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02My nails like to be weird, so. We've talked about it a little bit.
SPEAKER_03My nails I'm getting done on Sunday. Because they're really bad.
SPEAKER_02They're just long and grown out.
SPEAKER_03But they're short and nail text is gonna scream.
SPEAKER_02But it's okay. Nah. She'll be fine. Um my low is probably the day before my hair.
unknownOh yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Make sure that your s people will call you if you apparently no call, no show your appointment.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because mine didn't, and I didn't have an appointment. And that was really stressful because I just wanted to be pretty.
SPEAKER_03It looks good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. The experience was still bad though.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I just had a had a tough time. But I got a recommendation. Victoria gave me a recommendation. Oh good. Oh good. Okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So excited. That's good, but it still looks good. I like the way it's kind of like it's not as fresh too. I like the way it's fading.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I have to, I'm gonna redo it for my mom's wedding. Yeah. Like Arctic Fox it probably, like the week before.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, and we can kind of we can play around with different colours, making them deeper.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I still have like Arctic, the Transylvania. So I thought about like when I redo it, like doing all the tips. Like black. But I want to get it cut. So yeah. We'll figure it out.
SPEAKER_03We'll figure it out. Do you have a question? Oh, the question! Sorry. I had it, I have it written down. I hit a button. I think we're good. Oh we Gucci. We're good. So my question for you is, and for everyone else listening, is if you had like a like if you were a vampire within this universe, what kind of like power would you have? Like Edward can read mine, Alice can see the future, Jasper can change people's emotions. What would your gift be? My gift. Your vampire gift. And you maybe don't have if you're not ready to answer this now, you can think about it. We can answer it later if we want to. I've thought about this. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I want healing powers. Ooh. Okay, why? Cause like there's like ways to like I mean, I don't know, just healing, like healing humans. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So you'd kind of be like Carlisle, where you like he doesn't I mean he healing.
SPEAKER_02I'd be like a magical version of Carlisle.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02My my superpower would be I'm Carlisle. That's it. But I would like I if I could I would say well like for example, like he turned Edward into a vampire because Edward was dying of the Spanish influenza. If I could heal that if it's possible to heal them before they get to a point of death, like and like turning them into a vampire is now.
SPEAKER_03That'd be very useful.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03That'd be very, very useful.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Just for like that reference. That'd be so cool. What about you?
SPEAKER_03Now, I haven't read all of the other books, so I don't know how extensive these powers can be. Have you watched all the movies? I've watched the movies. Okay. But you can go off the movies. Because I think one of at the because I think at the very end of the la the last movie, like they were gathering a bunch of people and like all of them had like really cool powers.
SPEAKER_02Oh the Voltori has a bunch of powers. Yeah. Like But they do that on purpose.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Cause one control like lightning or some shit. No. No. That would be cool. Maybe that would be mine.
SPEAKER_02Oh, he does. Yes. Yeah, because I thought one of the things. She has the thing. It's a girl, yeah. I I'm thinking of the Voltori, but she no one in there, but like of all their like friends from around the world, yeah. Um one of the Denali sisters has uh electric powers.
SPEAKER_03I'd probably do like some something like that. Or maybe like I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I like um Safrina in the last movie, and like I'm basing these off the movie because she hasn't read the books. Yeah, sorry. But um she can make people see things that aren't there. Right.
SPEAKER_03That's really cool. I also on the Volturi side, I like that I can't remember her name, but the girl who just stares at you. Oh, Jane? Yeah. Yeah. She went she like she's like, Pain. That would be very helpful.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03Maybe some situations.
SPEAKER_02I like Bella's powers. Bella's powers. Because it's so strong that it like.
SPEAKER_03Edwards is also very helpful. Yeah. Although that would get really tiring after a while. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, he he says he can it like he can kind of like tune it out.
SPEAKER_03Okay, I think that's good. Because he's kind of like so I've been like a in a lot of X-Men stuff recently. And I just think of Charles Xavier like having all of those thoughts in your brain all at once. Yeah. Sounds like a nightmare.
SPEAKER_02I couldn't. I couldn't I don't think I would want Alice's either. I don't I wouldn't want that burden.
SPEAKER_03Although Jasper's would Jasper's is difficult because I'm already an empath, so it's fine. And like the fact that he can like manipulate powers and emotions. And emotions feels kind of really um especially when people don't consent to it, and you're like, well Yeah. Yeah, I could I can imagine that being a problem.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Anyway.
SPEAKER_02But let us let us begin.
SPEAKER_03Let us begin. I'm really excited.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so if you don't know, this is my synopsis of Twilight the book. So if you don't know, pause, read it, then come back. Please. Please. We'd love to hear your thoughts about it. Yes. But my little synopsis: Twilight follows Bella Swan. She's a teenager who moves from Phoenix to Forks, Washington, to live with her father because her mother is trav going to Florida with her stepdad, who's a minor league baseball player. And then she starts her new school, and then she immediately becomes fascinated with this family, specifically. Um, she becomes fascinated with the Collin family, specifically Edward Cullen. And she soon, like later, like finds out he's a vampire, but she isn't frightened. She's more drawn to him because she he's a vampire. And he tries to stay away from her, but he can't, because she smells really good, is like the main thing they say. Hence Bella's blood. Um and he they ultimately decide to like stay together. I think this one's my favorite. I do like that one. Um, their relationship grows a little bit, and then one day she goes out and plays baseball with her family, and this group of like three vampires shows up. Um, a vampire named James smells her and says, Oh, a snack! A snack! A little snack, and they say, uh, no no no no, that's our homegirl, that's Miss Bella. And he's a he's a hunter. So he's a tracker. He's a tracker. The hunter. Yeah, same thing. So he's both. He's both. Um, so he likes he just likes the thrill of the hunt. So he starts he starts hunting Bella, and now their family is like struggling to protect Bella from this random vampire.
SPEAKER_03And she struggles to protect herself.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because she's very clumsy, which is why everyone makes fun of me because I am Bella.
SPEAKER_03I told her earlier when we were recording the last episode, I was like, I see why you like Bella so much, and I see why you relate to her so much, and I said that's all I'll say.
SPEAKER_02Yay. Um, but basically the novel focuses on their romance by exploring themes of love, danger, sacrifice, and the conflict of being wanted to live a normal life and being drawn to the supernatural world. I mean, I would be too. I mean, who isn't?
SPEAKER_03I mean, if I was her age and if I'd be like, yeah, let's go.
SPEAKER_02I need to know. Did you like the book? I loved the book.
SPEAKER_01Yay! I was so nervous. I was like, this bitch is about to break my heart. She's treating me to Dr. Pepper.
SPEAKER_03No, no, no. Like, I I genuinely, like, there were times where I was like, I was listening to it and I would just sit up and go, oh what? Like sometimes, because like I I watch the movies, I kind of know what happens.
SPEAKER_02But I was the book is I will say the book is it it adds more context to stuff. Adds more context, and there's things, like they're very minor, but like when you read the book, they kind of make more sense.
SPEAKER_03I would agree.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Like the fact that Jacob has sisters.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And but they're not like present. They're just mentioned. So it's like not they're not important. Like, mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03And yeah. And like Char like you kind of get more background on like Charlie and everything, too. Do we want to eat? I didn't. I wasn't sure if we wanted to eat.
SPEAKER_02Sorry, I'm gonna eat my Taco Bell while we talk about Twilight. My two favorite.
SPEAKER_03This is this is our episode for whatever reason. But I'm enjoying it. What did you rate it? Probably. So for reference, I fit I finished the book maybe like 15 minutes before you got here. Yeah. But I like to do that because then it keeps it fresh in my brain and I remember exactly what happened. But so I haven't got a chance to think about it. But now that I am thinking about it, I probably would give a four out of five. Might say five, but yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's not not a surprise layer. Surprise layer. Sorry. Um, I want to do something really fun. Because I have the copy I read out of was the Twilight media cover, so it's like the movie poster on the book, but it's like the big one, so it's not like the mass market paperback. Which by the way, this book is massive. Um, it's probably like the same. My like special edition of Twilight's like small.
SPEAKER_03And I read out of the I think the just the actually I read I audiobooked it, but I have the the copy you have is from Hannah Bryan.
SPEAKER_02It's from the library of Hannah Bryan. Thank you, Hannah, for your contribution. Um, you have a 19th printing of the first edition paperback.
SPEAKER_03That's not bad.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But I want a first edition, first printing of a hardcover.
SPEAKER_03I'm almost like, do you want this one?
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_03Because it's it's it's it's 19, it's not bad.
SPEAKER_02But I want a hardcover.
SPEAKER_03I know you do.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I found someone who's selling a first edition, first printing, signed copy of the Twilight hardcover for $1,800.
SPEAKER_03I can tell you, Isaac, right now, editing this just choked on that price tag. He's probably like, oh.
SPEAKER_02Um, but what I was saying was my copy of Twilight has discussion questions in it. There's ten. We don't have to do all of them, but I wanna do like two of them towards the end, because I think it'll be funny. I think it would be funny. But I wanna first thing I wanna because like you watched the movies first. Yes. I read the books first. As we know the story, Sam read Twilight in sixth grade. It altered her brain chemistry. Twilight was then came out the next.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02Twilight then came out in theaters the next month, and my life was changed forever. So I'm currently wearing my Twilight shirt right now. It's fine.
SPEAKER_03It's why I made the flight, this Dr. Pepper flight, as extensive and thought out as I did.
SPEAKER_02Because it's my divergence.
SPEAKER_03It's I love that you keep saying that, but I really didn't like that part that much. It was okay. I mean it's it's an average story.
SPEAKER_01It is.
SPEAKER_03It's like Well, I was just kinda like when I was younger, I was like, this is cool. I said not one time.
SPEAKER_02And now lives rent-free in my brain that Michaela's a big divergent fan with my beet rice. With your beet rice. Um, okay, but I want to talk about like the differences you noticed in the book compared to the movie.
SPEAKER_03So it was just more like detail on like just kind of like Bella's thoughts throughout the entire like you get more of that internal monologue. Yeah. And with the other ones, like you kind of you just kind of saw Bella's outside perspective because it would almost be interesting if the movies had like had um Christian Stewart narrate as Bella throughout the entire thing. That's kind of what it felt like. She does some, but like and it was cool because like the same with Princess Bride is I could easily picture kind of like the motions of the book, so it was really easy for me to like visualize. Yeah. And although like I saw Edward differently because of how they described him. I will say Edward's a lot Edward is so different in the books than he is in the movies, I feel. I don't think so.
SPEAKER_02Really? No, I think he's like lanky here. Well no, I mean like per personality. Personalities are very different in the book. Like Bella I was like Bella in the movie is very like soft spoken, like I don't give a care in the world. But then like in the book, like for example, at the end of the book, he takes her to prom without telling her, and she's like, You're taking me to prom? Like, have the same reaction though.
SPEAKER_03But like it they're very different in the yeah, like Bella in the books is very like I don't think they really touch on this in the movies either, is that like how smart Bella is? Bella's extremely smart, like in I mean they kinda do. Kinda, but like but the whole s scene with like them going where Edward is like finally back and speaking to Bella in science class and they're doing like the telescope thing.
SPEAKER_02Oh, so that's because she already did the lesson at her other school.
SPEAKER_03Right, like she's so ahead of everyone else that she's just like, this is so easy for me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And I don't know, it's yeah. I just like how I how different.
SPEAKER_02Like I love the movies. I think they could have done more with the movies. Yeah. But like, I don't think I would I wouldn't redo the movies, you know.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like how they're redoing some like some things into like Yeah. I wouldn't do that.
SPEAKER_03No, because there's something to the movies that are just so like It has that nostalgia feeling.
SPEAKER_02It has nostalgia classic, like What I like is it kinda is one of those movies where it's like It's not like you can watch it without reading the book and still know. And still know what's going on. But like it's really it really shows that it's like, oh, like, if you watch the movie, you'll be like something will m trigger your memory from the book.
SPEAKER_03And that's why I'm excited to because context, we're after we're done recording this, I think we're gonna go watch the movie. So it'll be my first time watching the movie. Now have reading the book. Yeah. So remember, I've not read this book before. Sam has read this book how many times? Like probably like 10 to 20-ish. Exactly. So it'll be interesting, and I don't think I've but I don't know if I've ever watched these movies with you.
SPEAKER_02No, we have not. But this will be I was I think I mentioned one little thing to you because we've been trying really hard not to tell each other things.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, especially with this book.
SPEAKER_02But what I like about these books and the movies, like with them being so different, is like obviously like I can watch the movies whenever it's like two hours out of my day. Like if I sit down and read the book, it's like 24 hours out of my life. Like so I don't reread the books as often as I re-watch the movies. So like obviously I watch the movies a little bit more. So when I go back to do a reread of the book, obviously I know what's happening, but there's moments where I'm like, oh yeah, I forgot that it was in the book. Like one of them being like, Jacob has siz siblings, or like the backstories of some of the Collins, like how they because like there are some that aren't like they're altered or they're not mentioned in the movie. Like Alice's isn't mentioned. No, it's not but it's in the book, and Esme's is chain is not the same.
SPEAKER_03And I think Carlisle's, although I don't know if they mentioned it in the case. They never mentioned Carlisle's. But I did like the the whole scene of them going into the um Carlisle's office and then them just putting out like pictures.
SPEAKER_02So what's funny is that's not in the first movie, it's in the second movie.
SPEAKER_03That's why I was like, I don't think they mention it in the first movie, but they might be able to do that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they mention it in the second movie after she gets pushed into the glass at the birthday party.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I do remember that. They do that. Because I was like, that's that's this this seems so familiar, but I was like, I don't remember it being in the first movie. No, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay. It was because like, um, like Esme's death, like how she was turned into a vampire, it's like so like in the movie it's like, oh, he did it with his what he changed his wife Esme, but in the book, which okay, this will be a tiny like trigger warning, um, bid she's not married to Carlisle. I think he finds her because she jumped off a cliff.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because she just had a her she had gave birth and then her baby died like two days later. Yeah. So like there's like some things that are like different.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, even yeah, even the book, um, Edward says that she jumped, or no, like she was pushed or something.
SPEAKER_02No, I think they say she fell. She fell.
SPEAKER_03But then Esme told her that Esme was like, no, Edward was being sweet now. I jumped. And I was like, oh shit.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But it's also like Alice. Mm-hmm. Um Alice was sad. Yeah, Alice's is really sad. Which I'm like kind of sad that they don't mention it in the book movie only because the person that turned her into a vampire is also in the movie. Yeah. Because James is the one that turned Alice. Right. Because she was in a mental institution. And that's Yeah, she's in an asylum. Because he says, Oh, they would have burnt her at the stake with the visage. So she was having like something like Bella does, where like her powers were like in like her human thing. So they put her in an asylum, and that's why she doesn't remember human, is because it was always dark.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_02So then James like changed her. So like I kind of wish they like mentioned that aspect a little, but also I understand that at the time those were a little bit more of like a darker theme to present for I think the movie's like PG, PG 13. So I don't think they writings are weird.
SPEAKER_03So and then like just have also knowing how Carlisle, because I don't know if I ever knew how Carlisle was turned either. They go over that in the book, too. So that's also very interesting of how he was a um like a like a pastor's son. And like he was like him and his father would go off like hunting vampires, and then like one night one of them came up and like bit him. And um then he like he hid in like a pile of like fucking rotten tomatoes or not like potatoes for like three days. Because he just hated himself. Cause he just hated himself and like I I was sitting there and I was like, oh no, Borough! They like they're yeah, I oh like this she's really good at writing to where like as I'm reading and like listening to the book, I'm like, I really feel bad for like the character that they're kind of describing what they're going through. I'm like, damn, that sucks.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I will say Stephanie Meyer is like really good at describing places and like people's emotions. Because like even you were like not even a chapter in, and you're like, I miss the Pacific Northwest.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, because she describes it so well, and like I was on I remember distinctly when I texted you that because I was on page 10 and I was like I literally sat there reading it. I think I have it booked marked still because I think that's where I stopped like physically reading it, and I went to the um audiobook. Yeah, but I remember like her describing like right after like landing in Seattle and driving to Forks, and I was like, that's exactly how it feels driving there, and I want to take you there so bad because I know you would love it, and like it literally made me start crying because of how homesick I was in that moment. I was just like, damn. It was hard, if I'm being honest.
SPEAKER_02Do you have favorite characters? I know you were like Edward in the last episode, but you also were like you still have I love Carlisle.
SPEAKER_03Love Carlisle Carl Carlisle, I like Carlisle, and I was thinking of um Esme too. I really like Esme. I love Esme in the movies. I love Esme, I just love Esme in general. I love Charlie.
SPEAKER_02I love Charlie Charlie.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Honestly, like I also love Alice.
SPEAKER_02I love um I love Emmet.
SPEAKER_03I love Emmett. I love Emmett and his eggs, although that's not mentioned in the book. But I love that that's a movie thing. Yeah. And I think we've talked about Emmett and his eggs before.
SPEAKER_02Um he has eggs in one of the scenes because he's supposed to be like balking all the time.
SPEAKER_03And it's so funny. I was also thinking about it as like how old they are, and I know in the movie they kind of have like a wall of graduation caps, and I was like, I would fucking hate to go to high school that many times. No, yeah. That would be my nightmare. Yeah. I would want to be old enough to wear, like, I could pass for like a college kid.
SPEAKER_02College, maybe like 21, 22.
SPEAKER_03Not even.
SPEAKER_02I want to look like I can legally drink.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Maybe like 25 to 30 is where where I'd want to be if I was turned into a vampire. Yeah. Because I don't want to be too young, but I also don't want to look, you know? Yeah. But that would be that would be my prime if I was gonna get turned. Because you don't want to look too young, because then it's then it's like then you're stuck in like hell. Yeah, literally. Treated like a child constantly. That would be literally my nightmare.
SPEAKER_02Alright. I'm gonna read the discussion. I was gonna say, do you want to do discussion questions? Okay. Is the fact that Edward can't read Bella's thoughts more important than it seems? Do you think it will serve a larger purpose? As if you were just reading the book.
SPEAKER_03As if I was just reading the book. Because we all know. We all know it does. But yeah, even like, even if I didn't know that it, like, you know, I won't spoil if people haven't read the book or seen the movie.
SPEAKER_02Um, what are you doing? Like, at least watch the movie. My husband's even watching the movie.
SPEAKER_03I was like, why are you listening to this if you haven't go watched either read or watched them? I took clickshaw. I was just thinking that. Well, he's getting the synopsis now. Yeah. I took this is your spark notes. This is your spark notes. But yeah, in what were we talking about? Sorry, I forgot. Um, if her or if her not being able to read, like here, yeah. Yes, so yeah, that's because isn't she don't they show some resistance some to some other vampire powers in this book too?
SPEAKER_02I don't think so.
SPEAKER_03No, is it just Edward in this?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean there's in the in other ones, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like in the movie, like the Voltori, like can't read her her things. Which because like Jasper can still control the emotions, but I think that's more of like an internal thing than because I thought even because even when I thought I caught something that where when they had run away to Phoenix Um after Bella after the baseball game.
SPEAKER_03They're in Phoenix and Jasper, I f I thought I s it sounded like Jasper was trying to force her to like either go to sleep or like calm down, but she was like fighting it. Yeah. So like at a point where she she she said like I can feel the dullness, but it's not working. Yeah. Or something like that. So I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because like there's in like the movie in the second one, she's like she can catch that he she's trying to control her mind, but it's like not I don't think it fully goes through.
SPEAKER_03Got it. Like she can like sense when he's trying. Yeah. Because I think they even kind of mention that in this book a little bit. Yeah. If you remember. I don't know. But I remember Do I remember?
SPEAKER_02Do I remember? Um another question? Another question. Temptation is a major theme in Twilight. More accurately, resisting one's temptation. Discuss the subplot of Carlyle's job as a doctor in relation to this major theme. How well does he handle temptation? What do you feel would be the most difficult part for him in his role? Why does he remain working as a doctor when the Collins don't seem and to need his income?
SPEAKER_03Cause like they even say in the book that Carlisle, like, his gift was his passion for people. Yeah. Like, and even when he like in they kind of go over this in his his origin story of like he was so disgusted by himself after turning that he literally like s like tried to kill himself multiple times.
SPEAKER_02And Twilight's pretty dark for a while.
SPEAKER_03It is, and he would like he tried, like I'm not gonna go into detail how he tried, but um and like at one point he tried starving himself, and that's how he kind of found out that he can survive off of like animals because he went on he was so hungry that he just went after anything that moved. And that because he was so far into the forest that was just deer, and then he was like, damn, I feel better, and then he continued with that for the rest of his life so far, because he's a hundred he's three hundred and sixty-two. They just turned three hundred and sixty-two. He did, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So um like and I thought I don't he's yeah, 360 plus the appearance of a 23-year-old.
SPEAKER_03I didn't realize that, um I also love in the book that everyone ex like always emphasizes how handsome he is.
SPEAKER_02Well yeah. Every single one. He's supposed to look like a 23-year-old, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And he's just a handsome guy.
SPEAKER_02He's just a handsome man in the movies. He's just a guy. Oh. Bring back my Carlisle Charlie fanfiction.
SPEAKER_03Please do.
SPEAKER_02Oh, what I thought was interesting, and I always find this interesting, is I don't know if you noticed, Jacob doesn't know. Jacob doesn't know. But in the movie he does.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, which I was confused by it.
SPEAKER_02He just talks about like, oh yeah, like they're my dad is like real he's like, my dad. My dad is superstitious, my dad thinks these people have come back.
SPEAKER_03Like, does he not know that his that his family like Damn.
SPEAKER_02Nope. He doesn't know anything. But he's also like 14. Yeah. 14, 15. Yeah. Like he is he baby.
SPEAKER_03He is a baby.
SPEAKER_02He baby.
SPEAKER_03But he's really good at fixing stuff.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, for some reason he can fix a car.
SPEAKER_03Because you just like that, I guess. Cause like I didn't realize how little of Jacob that we see in this first, like, no part of the story.
SPEAKER_02There are some things where I like And I know it's because Stephanie Meyer was on set for like the script stuff, where some lines are in the like the lion fell in love with the lamb. Yeah, but what a stupid lamb. What a sick, masochistic lion. But the spider monkey line is for the movie only.
SPEAKER_03I was I was waiting for that part, and I was really hoping the baseball game wasn't also just a movie thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but there are some things that are movie only that I do know of.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so that'll be interesting to point out.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Because when we read them all, we could probably do like a movie versus book series.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that'll be good thing. It was so fun reading this. And I know my mom has been wanting me to read this book for years. So she's she's been she's been itching at me to read this book, so I've been happy to Yes! Yes, yes, yes. I want to I also haven't talked to her about this either. Nope, no one was allowed to talk to anybody! Yeah, so she'll have to listen to this.
SPEAKER_02Is there anything you didn't like?
SPEAKER_03No. Honestly. I also didn't realize how like how much Bella like kind of liked to cook. Yeah. Like that's not mentioned in the movies because they they just went to the diner every night.
SPEAKER_02Well she cooked some for him in the movie, um.
SPEAKER_03But like I I also was like, damn, they really make Charlie look really helpless at this book.
SPEAKER_02I mean, he's helpless in the movie too. Like I also that's pretty true to the bug. What I let me tell you, fucking Lauren. Lauren fucking pissed me off. I'm so glad she's not in the movie because Jessica already pisses me off enough.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02But Lauren's worse than Jessica.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I did not like the friends. I mean, Mike was okay.
SPEAKER_02Mike, Angela, Jessica gets better, but like in the first movie, they all just kind of suck.
SPEAKER_03I mean, aren't they like 16?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they're high school kids, like I don't know what else. The blood pricking scene. I like that scene. I wish that was in the movie. Yeah. But but that um they're like they have to do like blood type for and that's when you find out Bella is like scared of blood.
unknownMm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Which is like interesting, 'cause like at the end of the movie, she's like, oh, I want to be a vampire.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm. And then it takes her to prom.
SPEAKER_02Takes her to prom. Yeah. It the line it ends, the book ends. Because like, imagine reading this for the first time, and then you not knowing what's gonna happen.
SPEAKER_03And it's I wish I honestly, I wish I didn't I wish I didn't read or watch the movies before I read the books.
SPEAKER_02Well, like if you I'm right. Yeah. A kitty. It's a G G. So like the the epilogue ends with, and he leaned down to press his cold lips once more to my throat. When you when I read that for the first time, I said, already. Already. Because like I hadn't like there was no movie, so I hadn't watched the movie, so I didn't know that it was like a kiss. I thought, like, oh, he's just gonna he's just gonna sn nibble at her neck. Yummy.
SPEAKER_03In the middle of prom.
SPEAKER_02In the middle of prom. Also, the entire family goes to prom.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02And I'm bummed that I don't get to see them.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Like, what's up with that?
SPEAKER_02No, but I see fucking Victoria and her fucking fair coat. And she's all like Oh, that was funny.
SPEAKER_03We really have to get like video of us. Because that'll be Interesting.
SPEAKER_02Any any quotes?
SPEAKER_03Oh quotes.
SPEAKER_02How did you feel about Bella in the book?
SPEAKER_03I liked her a lot more in the book than I did in the movies.
SPEAKER_02She's not as infuriating. Oh, something I like all the time is Kristen um will watch um I'm not saying her name. Don't get me to try. Um, Kristen will watch like clips of her in Twilight. And anytime Rob comes on the screen, she's like, he's weird.
SPEAKER_03She's weird. He's weird. I love Rob so much. There was an interview he just did for the Odyssey with him. Um, I think it was Anne Hathaway and Tom Holland, and they were playing that like a heads-up kind of style game. Oh. And he puts his card up, and it's like supposed to be like try to guess the celebrity you are. And it was himself. So he goes, Am I ugly? Am I ugly?
SPEAKER_02And then Tom goes, Oh no. Um, I like um there's the pa there's the one interview he did with um that's my quesadilla, bro.
SPEAKER_03Gigi, you open all our business.
SPEAKER_02Um he does one with Zendaya for the drama.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that movie was scary.
SPEAKER_02And one of the questions was, um, oh, can you recreate Bella's theme? And he goes, he does the other theme for the other movie that he's in, the one movie in movie four, and he goes, nah, I'm not gonna do it, but um she goes, no, that's the other one. He goes, also a great film. Also a great film.
SPEAKER_03He's so funny. Have you seen the interviews of him and a Jennifer Lawrence stage? Yes, and he thinks he's fucking Gen Z. He's so funny. It's like Jennifer Lawrence like met or match with him, I feel. Okay. Hi, GG.
SPEAKER_02So obviously I've read this book multiple, multiple, multiple times. I read this for the first time when I was in sixth grade, which was I was 11. So Math is hard. Math is hard. What am I? 29? Wow, I age myself. I read this for the first time 18 years ago. Wow. Maybe more. Could be 19 years ago. Can't remember if I was 10 or 12. Or 10 or 11. I yeah, 10 or 12. There's no 11. Um, Papa.
SPEAKER_03Um my god, what's this thing? What's the thing? You are like Papa!
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. Um, but um you read it for the first time. How old are you?
SPEAKER_03I'm 22.
SPEAKER_02So you read it for the first time. 11 years older than I was when I read it for the first time.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I'm I am a super fan. I am going. I am a Twilight adult.
SPEAKER_03Twilight adult.
SPEAKER_02That I will admit it. I have a problem.
SPEAKER_00Oh wait.
SPEAKER_02I may or may not have bought another Twilight book today. Actually, I technically bought New Moon. So it's not Twilight. It's not Twilight. Technically. It's the media cover of the Twilight Saga. The Twilight Saga!
SPEAKER_01Oh someone clipped that for me.
SPEAKER_02I said clip it, make it a make it a clip, send it to gay.
SPEAKER_01She's just gonna respond to that. Mahalo.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god! For slowly. But as a first timer, yeah. Overall, did it meet your expectations? It did. Is it everything you ever dreamed of and more? It's kind of what I thought it was gonna be, which is like I didn't like change your opinion by being read Twilight, I love it.
SPEAKER_03Like, I probably if I would probably would have read this, because this kind of gives me the same feeling I read when I first read like Avatar. I'm gonna say divergent.
SPEAKER_02I was like, Bella and beat race aren't the same.
SPEAKER_03Bella and beat race aren't the same. Clip that too.
unknownClip.
SPEAKER_02Um as or as Angela says, cut that, cut that.
SPEAKER_01Cut that. Only real ones get that reference.
SPEAKER_02Shear is not clear. Shear is not clear!
SPEAKER_01Ooh, it looks like it's about to rain. It might.
SPEAKER_03I can do my meteorology shit right now. Check my app and be a nerd. Let me do that real quick. Anyway, no, but like it was because like I said, my mom has been trying to get me to read this book for a long time. And if I probably would have read it when I was in middle school, I probably would have loved it about the same as I love it now. I just wish I didn't I wish I didn't read it as late as I did. I probably would have loved it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. When I was I'm so glad, like as an adult, like rereading it, I'm so glad that I've read it before I watched the movies. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And I wish I I wish I didn't know that Edward was a vampire. I wish I would have had fun guessing what it was.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I'm gonna be honest. Yeah. I'm pretty sure it's in the synopsis.
SPEAKER_03Which typically says I typically won't read this like so I'm the type of person that like if I like or will hear something like some parts about movies or books that I really like, and I'll be like, oh, I'll watch it for that or I'll read it for that. I typically won't read the synopsis because then it spoils it for me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But I'm just saying, my thing is like with synopsis, I typically don't read it if I really want to be a surprise. But if my thing is like if I do end up reading it, oh like if it was in the synopsis, it's not the main plot. That's fair.
SPEAKER_03Like it's not the main, like And I guess I do that more with like movie trailers because like sometimes they show too much of the show too much.
SPEAKER_02Comed a teaser only.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02No full trailer for a comedy movie because y'all be showing the best parts in the trailer.
SPEAKER_03Like, save it.
SPEAKER_02Like I wanna belly laugh. If I see it in the trailer, I ain't gonna belly laugh. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And like I'll do that with a lot of Marvel movies too, because then I'm like really surprised.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_03Like I've not watched, like I've only watched the first Doomsday trailer, have not seen anything.
SPEAKER_02Let's not talk about my my track record in Marvel right now.
SPEAKER_03Isaac, make a counter of how many times I've mentioned Marvel in this episode. He'd be so proud of me.
SPEAKER_02Isaac, make a counter of how many Marvel movies I need to watch. Actually, contact Dylan for that. Anyway. Also, Dylan's very sad that he missed out on the last episode. But sucks, you had to work.
SPEAKER_01Meow!
SPEAKER_02Love you! Um favorite theme.
SPEAKER_03He'll get it on an episode soon.
SPEAKER_02We'll get him on an episode. What was your favorite, favorite, favorite, favorite scene?
SPEAKER_03My favorite scene?
SPEAKER_02That and I'm gonna I'm gonna say you cannot say the baseball scene. I wasn't gonna say the baseball scene.
SPEAKER_03Although that is a really good scene.
SPEAKER_02I know, but I'm just saying, like, I feel like that's that's like the bumblebee of bees. You know what I mean? Yeah. That's like the most basic zero picks. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I don't know where that saying came from, but the bubble of bees.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god, that's hysterical. Um oh god, what is my favorite scene? Probably.
SPEAKER_02Um I want you to go first and let me think about it. Mine, I really love the meadow scene.
SPEAKER_03The meadow scene's really good.
SPEAKER_02Um, the meadow scene, and I like the hospital scene when he's talking to her. Um which one? The last one. Okay. Like the very last one.
SPEAKER_03I was like, she's been in the hospital a couple of times.
SPEAKER_02No, the last one where he's like, oh you're going to Florida, and she's like, no, I'm not. Suck my dick, Edwards.
SPEAKER_03Suck my dick. Um I think probably I know so probably when um Bella gets to see his house for the first time. Oh yeah. And like maybe like Carl Carlisle's um oh in the office. In the office with all the paintings.
SPEAKER_02I do like that. No, I just love the meadow scene. The meadow scene's really good. I love this movie and thank you so much.
SPEAKER_03And now we're gonna go watch it. Maybe, maybe in the next episode we'll give you our how we feel about the movie after watching it.
SPEAKER_02I'm so happy you liked it. I was really nervous because. Why are you that nervous? Like it would be an entertaining episode, but like why were you nervous I was gonna hate it? Because I'm I understand that it's not the most well-written book in the world.
SPEAKER_03But I mean, we were talking about this earlier about how how well she writes Bella's emotions. I mean, she writes well, but like Also, I just love that Lapush the La Push, sorry, I thought about Lapush too. I love Lapush.
SPEAKER_02Lapush baby. I'm so happy they put LaPush in the movie. Yeah. Like when I read the book, I was because I knew a movie was coming out when I first read the book. So I was like, oh, I would love this scene to be in the movie. And most of the ones I wanted didn't make the movie. Because I do understand you are gonna cut scenes out. Yeah. I do like the show. I wanted the I wanted the Carlisle scene in the movie, and I was really bummed that it wasn't, but I'm really happy that they worked it into Yeah, I agree.
SPEAKER_03And I really also liked when Bella got her truck for the first time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03That was really good.
SPEAKER_02I have a little Lego figure of her truck.
SPEAKER_03I know I love that house Lego that you have.
SPEAKER_02I made a new oh, I redid all my bookcases and I made a whole bookcase of just vampire books. Yeah, it has a 3.68 on Goodreads. Okay. I wanna read Oh, let's read some reviews.
SPEAKER_03Okay, let's let's read some reviews.
SPEAKER_02Okay, do you want a one, two, three, four, or five star? Should we start high and go low? Yeah. Okay. Five star. Oh my. This book to me is the chocolate. A d deli it's like chocolate. A delicious, sinful, addictive indulgence, which you convince yourself has been. I think that was I that's the the um that's the review I picked for guess the review. Oh my god. But then Isaac picked Twilight.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's fine.
SPEAKER_02And I couldn't read it. So thanks.
SPEAKER_03Now we get to read it now.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It's really long.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02I just love reading birdies. I wanna read a one star. I hate this book. I will probably end up reading the rest of them because I don't, if I don't, people that love this book will think they can convert me if I keep if I just keep reading. That's really funny. Never even remotely finished the series. It's the I'm gonna keep reading it even though I hate it. Even though I hate it, just so I can prove people wrong. I enjoy Lily details. There's nothing better than knowing an author has a re has really thought about her characters and situations and came up with surprising and d delight delightful detail that makes the whole reading experience fuller. Lily details, you understand, pointless details are a nightmare to read. I don't know I don't need to know that Bella ate a granola bar for breakfast. I really don't. I mean I had no issue with watching her eat a granola bar.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Skew in pure hate for Bella's granola bar. Justice for the granola bar.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And the cereal that she eats in the in the that Charlie got chicken boil from his favorite neighbor.
SPEAKER_01Chicken what?
SPEAKER_03Chicken boil fresh fry, I think it was.
SPEAKER_01It's it's it's Harry Clearwater's homemade fish fry, and it's from the reservation, not his neighbor. Sorry.
SPEAKER_02Um I like that Charlie's the the only cop I'll stand. If I got pulled over by Charlie Swan, arrest me. Take me, Mr. Swan.
SPEAKER_03Take me, Mr. Swan. Take me to the hospital.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, this is this so this is a one-star, and it says, Meyer's not a bad writer. She has the ability to string words together. Unfortunately, she lacks flair. I liked it! It's a YA fantasy novel.
SPEAKER_03Not everyone's gonna like it.
SPEAKER_02I know. That's fine. Do you ever see those TikToks of people that are trying to like mimic like the the um like like he he growled under his breath like that stuff? This one made me think he spoke from between clenched teeth extremely what do you say? Extremely extremely extremely extremely I whirled stunned why it's just so funny. Thirsty? How about you? Nothing unmanageable.
SPEAKER_03I also like that. She was like, my favorite color depends on the day. And she's like, it depends on the color of his eyes that day. And one of them was brown. She goes, Edward's like, what's your favorite color? And she goes, brown.
SPEAKER_01And then we're like brown.
SPEAKER_02See, it's like it's stuff like that where I'm like, oh, I could see why someone doesn't like it.
SPEAKER_01But then I'm like, oh, that's so cute! It's his eye color. And then and then he goes, Oh. Oh. It was just really funny. The way she was just like brown.
SPEAKER_02I like this. I like this. How can you come out during the day? Myth. Burned by the sun? Myth. Sleeping in coffins? Myth. I can't sleep at all? Never. You haven't asked me the most important question. Which one? Are you concerned are you not concerned about my diet? Oh, that. Yes, that.
SPEAKER_03That is. Oh yeah. The fact that like I could eat you at any fucking second.
SPEAKER_01As if you could outrun me. As if you could fight me off!
SPEAKER_03I knew that would set her off. What is- if I start quoting the movie, you'll just start quoting the movie too. What is that thing?
SPEAKER_02A vocal trig? Vocal stem? Vocal stem? But what is it when it's triggered? Just a vocal trigger?
SPEAKER_01I think so, yeah. I have so many. I have so Yeah. I do too.
SPEAKER_02Give me another one. Let's see if I can. Let's play. Guess Sam's vocal stem.
SPEAKER_03Where the hell have you been?
SPEAKER_02Loco! That's my bookmark. I got it from my dear friend Callie. It's got Jacob on it, and it's pink, and he's in Hearts, and it's got little wolfie prints. That says, Where the hell have you been, Loco?
SPEAKER_03Which also not in the book.
SPEAKER_02That's in the second one!
SPEAKER_03It's in the second one.
SPEAKER_02Yes, because she goes to his house. You're right.
unknownYou're right.
SPEAKER_03Sorry, I haven't read it.
SPEAKER_02I'm upset.
SPEAKER_03It's been a while since I've watched the movies.
SPEAKER_02Well, God thing, we're gonna go do it.
SPEAKER_01We're gonna go do it.
SPEAKER_02We're gonna go do it. Um let's see another. Let's see. I just like flipping through the book and reading out of it. I thought maybe that Mike Newton. You said he was friendly. He's just a friend dad.
SPEAKER_03He's kinda dating my friend dad.
SPEAKER_02Mike Newton. Mike Newton.
SPEAKER_03I also love the Mike switch up. Mike was like, I want, I want Bella. I want You wanna go to the dance with me, Bella? And then Bella's like, actually, no. And then she's like, Jessica likes you though. And then Yeah. And then and then he so quickly was just like, yeah, Jessica.
SPEAKER_02No, he's flirts with her the entire time.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like there's no mic switch up. Like he just constantly flirts with Bella. He has no feelings for Jessica. I want Twilight in Jessica's point of view. That would be so interesting. And it's just her like hating Bella's guts the entire time. Literally. They're only friends because she hates her. No, literally.
SPEAKER_03She's so jealous. She's friends with Jessica.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Jessica! No. Let me let me still the way she put down her book. Let me tell you. Let me tell you about Miss Jessica.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02Fake friend. She's only friends with Bella because every single guy likes Bella.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like Mike likes Bella, Tyler likes Bella, Eric likes Bella. They all fucking ask her to the dance. Bella says no. She's literally a shiny toy. So Jessica is only friends with Bella because she likes Mike. She's Regina George. She is kind of. But no. The thing that pisses me off is Tyler constantly telling everyone, I'm taking Bella to the prom because I'm a killer with my stupid truck. Car, whatever the case.
SPEAKER_03The fact at the end of the book that he actually had the balls to show up to Chief Swan's house after killing her. After Bella was like, no, I don't want to go to the dance with you. And probably told her dad that. Why the f would he have the balls to show up to that? Yeah. I wouldn't. I love that Edward got on the phone and was like, um, actually, she's gonna be occupied for every night because she'll be with me, motherfuck. I was like, Edward. Edward said Edward is so sassy in this book.
SPEAKER_02No, like for real. I love it. Like, I kind of wish they had the book personalities in the movies, but like for the vibe of the movie, like it works out. Yeah, I agree. But they kind of get their vibe, like, within the next couple movies, which I like, but the you can really tell, like, the first movie. How much what was the I'm gonna look at the budget difference between the movies. Okay. I like this. I like looking at this stuff. Twilight movie. 2008.
SPEAKER_01The budget is the budget. 37 million for the first movie?
SPEAKER_02For the first movie. I'm I'm reading. 37 million? 37 million dollars. I wish I had that much money. And it made 412 million. Okay. I didn't think it was that much. How much was New Moon? Let me see it. New Moon was only 50, made 712. Eclipse was 68, made 699 million.
unknownDamn.
SPEAKER_02So is that kinda that's not low budget.
SPEAKER_03No. Cause they probably saw how popular these boxes are.
SPEAKER_02Part one was 127 million. The box office for that was 732. And then part two was 136 million. What is considered a low I would consider like a low budget movie basically. Any movie under 2 million to 5 million. So if it's 5 million or less, it's considered low budget.
SPEAKER_03Okay. How much was the budget for um the Odyssey? No, not the Odyssey.
SPEAKER_02I'm curious. That one was two Okay, so for comparison, the Odyssey was two hundred and fifty million.
unknownDamn.
SPEAKER_02And Twilight One was co was only thirty six million. So I guess that's not a bunch.
SPEAKER_03Also too, you have to think about you know Twilight the inflation from h then and versus here.
SPEAKER_02Well, what else?
SPEAKER_03I don't know if that affects that.
SPEAKER_02What else came out around that time? The Hunger Games, right? I think so.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. It was the dystopian era.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that was in 2012. That budget.
SPEAKER_03Which I think we we need to read the Hunger Games.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, because the Hunger Games movie. No, so the year the Twilight the year Twilight came out, the first Hunger Games was published. I do remember that. Um I want the movie. The movie came out in 2012. The budget for that was okay, so that started with a $78 million budget. So Twilight was still lower. Twilight 1, 2, and 3 were a lower budget than the Hunger Games.
SPEAKER_03Not combined, but interesting.
SPEAKER_02Um I'm trying to think what else came out. She's like, I want my dad. Well you want to talk about what we're doing next month?
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah. Let's talk about that. We're excited for this.
SPEAKER_02You're very excited.
SPEAKER_03I'm very excited. So Sam got to do her vampires. Come on. Sam got to do her vampires. We're kind of this.
SPEAKER_02That was our theme. So it's spooky time. So I'm sorry. Because we're good in spooky.
SPEAKER_03August is hawahoa season. It's it's spooky. No, August is mild spook. Mild spook. We're getting into spook, you know. And then mild spooking up.
SPEAKER_02And then September is spook.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_02And then October is spooky. Spooky.
SPEAKER_03Yep. And then spooky. And and then November is coming out of Little Spook.
SPEAKER_02Little Spook. Little Spook. Coming out. You know Dylan will sing that song around the house. I love that friend. I don't know why, but he'll just randomly come in with a few. I love Dylan from work.
SPEAKER_03He's probably one of the gayest straight men I know.
SPEAKER_02Don't tell him that. He'll be offended. What am I sitting on? Oh, the chair.
SPEAKER_01What am I sitting on? Oh, the chair.
SPEAKER_02I'm just sitting on it to be aired. Um, yeah, so we have a theme for September. We have a book. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03But Michaela's gonna talk about it. So September. The theme. The theme is going to be drum roll, please. We're gonna do classic horror.
unknownYeah!
SPEAKER_03We're gonna do classic horror. So one of the books we are gonna be reading is Frankenstein. That's the main book. Main book, yeah. Bye. Bye.
SPEAKER_01Bye, Mary!
SPEAKER_02Wool Wollstonecraft, Shelly.
SPEAKER_03That's a funny joke. I'm so excited. It's an inside joke. I think we've done it on here before though.
SPEAKER_02I couldn't pronounce I could for some reason my mouth was not processing Wollstonecraft correctly. And I So there was born.
SPEAKER_03And so every sometimes sometimes if it's when you're having a hard day, I'll go wool, and then you immediately start laughing. Whoa. It was so funny. Anyway.
SPEAKER_02We're gonna do another one of those like slingo things. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Oh, we should. Yeah. Um, yeah, I thought about some new ones to do too. Uh so yeah, so we're gonna be reading Frankenstein. I'm very, very, very excited. And I think I have an idea for the special episode. So we've kind of decided something too with those episodes.
SPEAKER_02Is that we're kinda gonna Oh, so someone's gonna pick what the special episode is, but not tell the other one. And if not typically gonna be like, oh, I do this month, Michaela does the next month. It'll like if one of us is like, oh, I have a really good idea, like if I had a really, really, really good idea, but I just did the last month, like, we're not gonna be like, oh, it's not your turn, because like we don't wanna like take away potential content from you guys because um so but if we both end up coming with an idea, maybe we'll get two special episodes. Yeah, maybe.
SPEAKER_03So who knows? I think those episodes are fun. I like those episodes. Those episodes are fun to record.
SPEAKER_02I like this vibe that we're doing.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So but all right.
SPEAKER_03Let us know we need feedback as well if you guys are liking it. Yes. But we are so far, so we are.
SPEAKER_02But yes. Um, so Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Read it. Do you have a synopsis of it?
SPEAKER_03Um, I could probably do a quick one.
SPEAKER_02Or we can just wait.
SPEAKER_03We can just wait to the next one.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I mean I mean it's about a scientist that creates a monster.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02So yeah.
SPEAKER_03And Frankenstein is not the mon is not the monster. It's just Victor Frankenstein. It's the document. Yeah, it's Frankenstein's creature.
SPEAKER_02And the creature. Or Frankenstein's monster.
SPEAKER_03Or Frankenstein's monster. I think he gets a name later on, but I'm not sure. I kinda oh. I would love to do this with you. Maybe, maybe we will. Do my what I have, what I am planning.
SPEAKER_02Okay. I don't know. I know nothing now. No, nothing now. I know nothing now. But our next episode, we're gonna do our uh Mr. Fury recap. Mr. Fury! They announced the name! Yes, they did! Boom, but we didn't talk about that! No, yes, because it's not in this episode.
SPEAKER_03We haven't had a chance to talk about this in person either. No.
SPEAKER_02Um, if you didn't see the post I made for the last episode, I may or may not have made a meme.
SPEAKER_03So funny, guys. You have to go check it out. I wrote I reposted it on my story. Yes. Okay, so the titles of the new ones are um a court of forgotten melody.
SPEAKER_02That no, no, no, you're out of order. Out of order? Yeah, that's so the next one that's coming out is a court of splintered harmony. Okay. But there Oh, I see. I see it's the Valkyrie Cycle Movement One.
SPEAKER_03My mom and I were talking about this. What does this mean? I guess we'll get into it because then we're gonna go to the city.
SPEAKER_02And then the second then the seventh one is a chord of forgotten melody, and that is the Valkyrie Cycle Movements two and three.
SPEAKER_03So that'll be really interesting.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Okay, Alex Warren, calm down. Um, also, Alex Warren wrote a song based off of Aquitar because it's his wife's favorite book.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Dylan! Why? I don't know if Dylan's music wouldn't lie like that. Dylan, bring me a song. Bring me a song.
SPEAKER_03Well, that's our Twilight episode. That was our Twilight episode. What do y'all think? I hope you had fun listening to it. I had fun writing speaking it. Yeah, we had fun doing it. I think that's really all that matters. I had fun speaking.
SPEAKER_02Um, please read Twilight. If you haven't. I do really like Twilight.
SPEAKER_03And let Sam know how you feel about it.
SPEAKER_02But be nice. Like, be nice to me. Not like you can be harsh about the book. I don't care. But don't be like, Sam, are you stupid? The book sucks.
SPEAKER_03Like My mom likes these books too. Your mom knows she says the books are better than the movies. I mean, obviously.
SPEAKER_02In the wise words of Aiden, mom knows ball. No, mom knows ball.
SPEAKER_03That's hysterical. I don't know if my mom knows that story.
SPEAKER_02Well, I don't think they know the story. I I bought Michaela the first um Stormlight archive book for Christmas, and she's like, Oh, I think my brother likes you. That's Aiden's favorite book. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03It's like is that series of.
SPEAKER_02So she sent it to she sent it to him, and she's like, oh, look what Sam got me for Christmas. And his response was Sam knows ball. Sam knows ball. So we refer to that all the time. Yeah. Um It's just when something's good, it's Sam knows ball.
SPEAKER_03Sam knows ball.
SPEAKER_02Um but tell us what you want. Tell us other books that you may want to read.
SPEAKER_03I know we we keep getting requests for um hold on. Let me pull it up. Oh, Empire of a Vampire. Empire of a Vampire. We keep getting requests for the city.
SPEAKER_02We keep getting requests for Dungeon Crawler Carl.
SPEAKER_03We will be doing that. We will be getting to it, we promise.
SPEAKER_02They are on our lists. Yeah. Um I just we got a vibe with a theme. Which we could do. I would maybe not do the vampire one soon since we just have an idea for January, but I'm also thinking it might be too close to we can see. Yeah. We'll figure it out.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01Just kidding, we're back.
SPEAKER_02Just kidding. Um, I stopped it right there, but then I was like, oh, we didn't say bye.
SPEAKER_03So we gotta say bye.
SPEAKER_02But bye, thanks for listening.
SPEAKER_03Thank you for listening. Please follow us on everything you have. Oh, this is episode 10! That's why it's a special episode. It looks like a rabbit. It's a rabbit. Sound waves. Anyway, have a good rest of your day, and this is us signing off. Chow ciao.
